Pornhub reveals what types of porn women really watch - and there are a few surprises
Watching porn is no longer a taboo for anyone, male or female. In fact, 24% of viewers watching on the world’s biggest porn site, Pornhub, are women. This suggests a lot of women have Pornhub bookmarked on their computer (in an incognito fashion, obvs) for when they want to unwind watching something sexy. Respect.
So what exactly do women want, when it comes to porn? In its latest audience analysis Pornhub has determined the preferences of its female viewers. Generally speaking, lesbian videos dominate. Girl-on-girl action gets women off - which is not exactly new information.
However, what you will also notice from these jolly, colour coded maps, is that anal is also a huge search term. Russia and much of Eastern Europe seem to be VERY into it.
Taking the UK in isolation, even more detail is revealed – female friendly, MILF, ebony and teen are the most popular porn genres across Great Britain.
What’s more the analysis concluded that women in the UK search for bondage 33% more than women in other parts of the world. The Fifty Shades effect still resonates, perhaps.
Pornhub’s insights also revealed the average time women spent viewing porn in any one sitting. The worldwide average is 10min 33 sec and UK ladies clocked 10 seconds longer than that (10min 43sec in front of their favourite videos).
Elsewhere in the world women in the Philippines take their time – they had the longest viewing time by a significant margin – 14min 20secs. Followed by the United States, where the average female resident watches for 11min 51sec. FYI, people in the Ukraine are the speediest of them all, taking only 6min 45 sec to get their fix.
And porn fans are unlikely to stop clicking anytime soon, regardless of the negative impact some experts believe the unending novelty offered by online porn is having on people’s brains and real-world sexual expectations. Because, well, pleasure rules, obviously.
The thing is, when porn is non-exploitative and represents totally consensual situations involving pleasure-seeking adults, what’s not to love? It's like saying rom-coms mess up your romantic expectations, which, okay, they probably do, but whatever, we're not going to stop watching.
