In a move that will make you feel guilty about every time you ever complained about doing your homework, a class of teenage girls are pleading to continue their education
Afghan school girls aged 16 and 17 have written letters, begging for funding to build a college in their village of Deh Subz.
The girls have been attending the Zabuli Education Centre - their village's only school for girls - since 2008. But it only continues teaching them up until 17 or 18. Meaning that in a year's time, they don't know where they'll end up.
'Building a college in a rural Afghan village is a first – it has never been done,' explains Beth Murphy, who is leading a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to build a college. 'But it should be. This effort is not just about sending the first class of Zabuli graduates to college. There’s more at stake here. It’s about having a living demonstration of the power of knowledge to change everything. This college can be catalyst for incredible change for the better… for this village, Afghanistan and our world.'
If the plans for Zabuli Technical College go ahead, the girls will have the opportunity to follow three tracks of study: nursing, teaching, engineering - meaning that they'll be able to contribute to their families and village.
'Slowly, this community is already chipping away at attitudes that keep girls out of the classroom across Afghanistan, and I want to help further that journey,' says Beth. 'This is about having a positive impact on generation after generation. Quite literally changing the future.'

Education means to me freedom of speach and can defense from our right. With college degree I will have a strong sense of pride and self. Education means to me to find a good jab. With a college degree I will have a lifetime of increased opportunities. By getting education I won't have problem. I can teach younger siblings in my family and other girls in my village. When I have daughter I will let her to go to school and wish her a bright future. I am the first girl in my family to get education. Myparents are illiterateI joined ZEC since 2008 and learnt more. Now i know I have changed a lot. Before coming to ZEC I had problems with my education. I am really lucky.

I want to go to college because I achieve independence when I was in grade 10th and heard that in 2016 we will start our collage from that time I started to dream about going to collage. Education means to me freedom from poverty with college degree I will have more access to resources. By getting education I myself will solve my problem without someone help, and can teach other boys and girls in my village. When I have a daughter I wish her to be educated like me. I am the first girls in my familyto get education. My mother is illiterate and I am lucky to help her. I want to become a prosecutor when I complete my education and serve to my people.
