Have you noticed the Queen always wears the same pearl necklace?
There's no denying Queen Elizabeth is a creature of habit. She wears these shoes regularly, is hardly ever seen without her favourite handbag by Launer (she apparently has around 200 of them) and always travels with the same luggage.
So it's hardly surprising that she always wears the same necklace when she's out and about on official duties, though we'll admit we never realised.
Apparently, she loves the three-strand pearl necklace so much that it is now officially part of her uniform.
However, and this is where it gets interesting, she actually has three identical (more or less) styles that she interchanges.
According to Leslie Field, author of The Queen's Jewels, the first necklace was a gift from her her grandfather, George V, for his Silver Jubilee in 1935. He gave her a three-strand necklace of even-sized pearls, while Margaret received a double-strand of pearls.
The second necklace is apparently the one she wears the most, and she had it made in 1952 after she came to the throne, from cream family pearls which graduate in size, and fastened by a small diamond clasp.
Lastly, her third necklace came courtesy of the Emir of Qatar, who gave her the necklace as a coronation present in 1953. This one was said to have an ornate pearl and diamond clasp, and was slightly bigger and longer, making it perfect for evening occasions.

Now that we know this, we won't be able to see her without noticing her necklace.
Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.
Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).
Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.
However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.
Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
