Brilliant Persian sharing food, delivered with style

Mood? Modern Middle East – there are wooden screens, velvet cushions and mood lighting, but the incense and leather smoking poufs have been replaced with shiny mirrors and skylights.

Why go? Because you can never decide what to order when you eat out. Here it's all about multiple mini dishes and sharing food around the table (and no one laughs when you can't pronounce the names of the dishes).

To eat? The humous is the best you'll eat this side of Morocco – enjoy it slathered over taftoon naan. On the hot mazza menu, we loved the lavash (ground lamb wrapped in Persian bread) and esfenaj (pan-fried spinach and chick peas with garlic and lemon), while the mixed fish kebab and halumi were hot picks on the grill menu. If you're looking for something more substantial, nearly all the dishes can be ordered large: try the Iranian khoresht bademjan (aubergines and chick peas cooked in a tomato and onion sauce) if you're really hungry.

To drink? Try a zamshid cocktail if you're feeling fruity, it contains vodka, passion fruit puree, fresh ginger and pineapple juice.
