50 Shades Of Grey Movie LATEST: Is This Anastasia Steele?

Dakota Johnson is the latest actress rumoured to be a contender for the coveted leading lady role in the film adaptation of the bestselling erotic novel

50 Shades Of Grey producers are rumoured to have met with actress Dakota Johnson, accoridng to The Wrap today.

The highl- anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James’ runaway hit Fifty Shades of Grey has every young actress vying for a chance to play the beautiful and naive Anastasia Steele. And the latest contender is none other than Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson’s daughter, Dakota Johnson.

You may recognise Johnson, a former model and rising film star who shared a memorable scene opposite Justin Timberlake in The Social Network (she’s also been in 21 Jump Street and The Five-Year Engagement), and while nothing is confirmed, according to The Wrap, she’s one of the up-and-coming front-runners being considered to play Steele.

At 23, Johnson is well-placed to play the corruptible heroine – she looks great as a brunette and has the same fair skin and big eyes as Anastasia. As important? She can rock a tiny pair of hotpants so should be able to pull off any S&M-required nudity without a hitch (again, see The Social Network for reference).

With the film due to hit screens in a year’s time, anticipation for who will play the pivotal roles of Anastasia and Christian Grey has reached fever pitch. And while we have to see if Johnson makes the final cut, we do know that Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy) will be directing the film, and her actor hubby, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has taken himself out of the running to play the steely and brooding Christian Grey.
