LONDON GETS READY FOR OLYMPIC ARRIVALS

The first event will be taking place today, where spectators will be cheering on the Team GB women’s football team as they play New Zealand at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Captain Casey Stoney says she hopes ‘it will raise the profile of women’s football’.

YOUR GUIDE TO THE LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Princess Anne attended the welcoming ceremony, which Mr Clegg described as ‘fantastic’.

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday.
