Sex is better than gym

What could possibly keep you fit, look after your immune system, and beat the wrinkles? Sex, that's what.

The NHS has dished out advice for those struggling to squeeze a fitness regime into their busy lives (most of us then) and recommended a workout between the sheets is the ideal alternative.

According to the NHS Direct website, 'sexexercise' can help to reduce the risk of heart attacks and helps people live longer.

The site explains that endorphins released during orgasm stimulate our immune system cells, which in turn can target illnesses like cancer, as well as combating wrinkles.

One doctor, Melissa Sayer, was sceptical about the advice saying: 'It's good to see the NHS are promoting sexual wellbeing. There is evidence that sex has benefits for mental wellbeing, but to say there is a link with reduced risk of heart disease and cancer is taking the argument too far.'

However, NHS Direct say their information is 'backed by science and clinical evidence'.

The article featured on the medical site states: 'Forget about jogging around the block or struggling with sit-ups. Sex uses every muscle group, gets the heart and lungs working hard, and burns about 300 calories an hour.'

And if that weren't enough to convince us all, the article concludes that the increased production of endorphins 'will make your hair shine and your skin smooth and if you're worried about wrinkles - orgasms even help prevent frown lines from deepening.'

Maybe bypass the gym tonight then and head straight home!

I am glad to see that, sex is sometimes the best way to keep fit, but havent we always known that. I am forty five years old and a mother of 4 children the oldest 23 years old, the youngset is 7 years old and a grand daughter of 4years old. I do not look my age, but I would not put it all down to a healthy sex life , but a state of mind as well. Doing a little of what I want to do for myself , i.e days on my own, small indulgence, getting hair or nails done and just having children who take an interest in you, keeping you informed of the lastest fashion etc, not just sex and lost of quality sleep if you can get it, maybe a combination of a lot of things and not just sex.
