E.l.f.’s Halo Glow Collection Rivals Luxury Beauty—And This New Launch Might Be Its Best Yet
An effortless springtime glow for less.
As a beauty writer, the best part of my job is getting to trial the newest beauty products to hit the shelves. On any given day, I’ll try dozens of products with price points ranging from accessible to eye-wateringly expensive. So when a product delivers results to rival that of luxury make-up brands for a fraction of the price, it has my attention.
One affordable brand that never fails to hit the mark for me is e.l.f. Not only are its products incredibly purse friendly (we’re talking £16 for a very good foundation), but this certainly doesn’t sacrifice the quality and results. In fact, about half of my make-up bag is filled with products from this affordable brand.
I’ve long been a fan of e.l.f’s Halo Glow collection (the Halo Glow Liquid Filter is my go-to glowy base), so when I heard that they had released a new powder highlighter in the range, my interest was piqued.
Now, I’m usually more a fan of liquid highlighters for my day-to-day make-up, but I do love to add a final dusting of powder highlight when I want my glow to really stand out: like if I’m headed to a special event or night out. Since I don’t use them very often, I’m incredibly picky when it comes to powder highlighters. It must have exactly zero chunky glitter particles and sort of melt into the rest of my base instead of sitting on top of it. Naturally, it should also give me an unreal glow – and e.l.f’s Halo Glow Silky Powder highlighter ticks every single box.
The shimmer in this powder is extremely finely milled (meaning no chunky glitter). It has a very soft, almost sponge-like consistency which doesn’t feel at all powdery and swipes onto my cheekbones like butter. To apply, I used the High Points highlighter brush which has a small, rounded head, perfect for precise application and blending out to a natural-looking finish.
The result? A glass-like glow that blends seamlessly into the skin and doesn’t cake or crease throughout the day. I also love that this highlighter comes in five different shades - ranging from a cool-toned pearl to deep bronze - so it’ll suit a wide range of skin tones. More often than not, I favour a skin tint over a foundation, and e.l.f.’s Halo Glow Skin Tint SPF 50 sits so beautifully on the skin. It has a light, buildable coverage, comes in 18 shades and leaves my skin looking healthy and hydrated. You can also get £4 off right now with the code SKINTINT - how lovely.
