Poppy Bilderbeck is a London-based freelance writer, formerly a senior journalist at LADbible Group. Alongside championing mental health awareness, she loves to natter about all things TV and film too.
When asked for her niche, because apparently everyone needs to have one these days, she responded: “I love writing about any subject most people struggle to talk about.”
Indeed, Poppy specialises in writing in-depth features about topics many still find taboo from grief to sex parties.
Since taking the plunge into freelancing in January 2026 she’s been lucky enough to write for Marie Claire, The Times, Telegraph, Cosmopolitan UK, Daily Express, LADbible, UNILAD, FOODbible and Tyla.
After witnessing the mistreatment of students amid the pandemic and their subsequent mental health deterioration, Poppy wrote an article for The Tab Manchester. This led her to speak on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and the Danish National Radio. She later became The Tab Manchester’s Editor-in-Chief, before landing a job at LADbible before even receiving her degree results.
When she’s not bashing her keyboard with a ferocity branded as ‘slightly alarming’ by a former co-worker, or chatting with Viggo Mortensen or Sherwood Brown; a man who survived death row for 23 years, you can find her writing and performing spoken word poetry, acting, or working with some amazing charities.
Poppy sits on the Youth Advisory Board Words Matter and is the Community and Impact writer for the Raphael Rowe Foundation. She also coordinated the first Spit Nights x CALM spoken word poetry fundraiser, opening the night with a poem about hugging.
Poppy was interviewed by A View from a Bridge following her performance of a poem she wrote about losing her mum to cancer in 2025, shared online by Dignity in Dying.
In early 2026, Poppy also founded the UK’s first mental health charity for journalists called PRESS(ED).
