There’s a mesmerising trend that’s dominating newsfeeds across the globe.

Remember this incredibly satisfying Viennetta factory video that went viral last month? Well, it’s on par with that.

The trend in question? Calligraphy porn.

And now we’ve brought it to your attention, you probably won’t be able to stop watching. Every social platform from Instagram to Pinterest is inundated with the craze – with filtered images of perfectly looped handwriting, how-to guides and calligraphy tutorials going viral.

The biggest calligraphy porn hub is YouTube, where thousands of people across the globe are logging in to watch videos of the swirling penmanship in action.

Filling the web with clips of people writing might sound a little dull, but the flowing brush strokes and mind blowing precision has viewers transfixed – to the point where it’s actually being referred to as a form of ‘porn’.

What’s more, calligraphy is about so much more than just fancy lettering. Writing like you live in Middle earth is actually proven to have therapeutic effects, not only on the writers themselves but also on the people watching them.

The ancient art form (dating back to ancient China) appears to be following in the footsteps of adult colouring books for its calming effects. A Hong Kong study has even shown that watching calligraphy can be particularly beneficial for people with autism.

In this fast-paced day and age where we increasingly replace emojis with actual words and type more then we write freehand, it’s little wonder that the slow, calm practice of calligraphy is proving popular.

If nice stationary gives you organizational orgasms, you’re going to lose your mind when you see these videos:
