Former designer of J.Crew to launch own collection

Marrisa Webb, J.Crew's former head of womenswear, will debut her collection with a presentation at New York Fashion Week this September

Marissa Webb, J.Crew’s former head of womenswear, will debut her collection with a presentation at New York Fashion Week this September.

Webb, who joined J.Crew, a favourite label of Michelle Obama, in 2000, became a very visible face of the company and a streetstyler’s fave before leaving in 2011 to pursue other ventures.

Now it’s been revealed just what that venture was.

In an interview with WWD, Webb said: ‘A lot of people ask me, “Will your collection look like J. Crew?” The honest answer is, in my mind, no. But after being at J. Crew for 11 years, a lot of my own personal aesthetic is in J. Crew because that was my job. The same things that influenced me then influence me now.’

So what can we expect to see?

According to WWD, Webb’s collection is made up of luxe leathers, Italian fabrics, French lace and includes skinny cargo jeans, boyish blazers and lots of silk skirts and dresses.

The collection is due in stores from spring 2013 with prices ranging from $125 for a t-shirt to $1500 for limited edition dresses.

Stockists haven’t been confirmed, so stayed tuned!
