Jackson will finally be laid to rest on day he would have turned 51
Michael Jackson will be buried on 29 August, the day the singer would have turned 51, his father has said.
After two months of autopsies and indecision over burial sites, Joe Jackson has told news agency, Agence France-Presse, that his son will be laid to rest on what would have been his 51st birthday at Forest Lawn Cemetry in Los Angeles.
Jackson’s body is currently being held in a locked freezer at the Freedom Mausoleum in Glendale, California.
The belated ceremony comes two months after the King of Pop died from heart failure on 25 June. There are no new developments yet over whether prescription drugs were responsible for Jacko’s death, but authorities have concentrated their investigation on the singer’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray.
Murray was at the scene when Jackson passed away and after questioning from police, admitted to administering strong anaesthetics to aid Michael’s insomnia.
