Cheryl Cole could replace Jennifer Lopez on the judging panel after being approached for American Idol, according to reports
Could Cheryl Cole be taking the ultimate revenge on Simon Cowell?
The singer has apparently been offered the chance to reprise her role as a judge – and take the ultimate revenge on Simon Cowell – by joining rival X Factor USA show, American Idol.
According to The New York Post, American Idol bosses are keen to lure the British star to the hugely popular American show and have approached her with a contract worth between £3m and £6m.
If Cheryl, who was famously dropped by Simon Cowell after just four episodes on The X Factor USA last year, joins the TV talent show she will be working for Simon’s arch nemesis, Simon Fuller.
It’s thought Cheryl, 28, could either be brought in to sit alongside Jennifer Lopez as a fourth judge, or take her seat on the panel if the Dance Again singer decides to leave the show.
Mum-of-two Lopez has previously hinted at her Idol departure, telling chat show host Ellen DeGeneres: ‘Now this is my second year – I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things.
‘It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they’re getting more mobile, they’re about to go into school … so I just don’t know.’
