Trial shows that symptoms almost halve within 10 weeks of practice
Just 10 weeks of yoga practice can see asthma symptoms halve in sufferers, new research shows.
The American College of Sports Medicine took a group of asthmatic yoga novices and gave them two classes per week, plus a half hour of practice at home.
Afterwards the participants reported that the frequency and severity of their asthma had reduced, reports the Daily Mail.
The researchers believe that the deep breathing involved in yoga is similar to the respiratory stress of an asthma attack, and that the practice helped sufferers to deal better with their asthma.
