Meet the stars who will be sharpening their skates for the new series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice 2013
Name: Pamela Anderson
The former Baywatch star and frequent Playboy poser will be flaunting her enviable figure in a bevy of teeny-tiny ensembles, swapping swimsuits for skater sparkles as she leads the show’s all-star line-up.
Pam and partner Matt Evers are sure to add some sizzle to the skating rink this season. Of her latest endeavour, Anderson gushed: ‘I’m so excited to take part!’
Name: Beth Tweddle
Occupation: Olympic bronze-medal winning gymnast
One of our favourite faces to watch during London 2012’s Olympics last summer, Tweddle will be bringing her athletic edge to the competition.
The champion athlete will be skating with partner Dan Whiston. Her biggest fear? ‘Being the first celeb voted off.’
Name: Anthea Turner
Occupation: TV presenter
The former Blue Peter, National Lottery and GMTV presenter has already proven herself to be one of the new cast’s more determined members, along with fellow blonde Pamela Anderson. According to the Sun: ‘Pam and Anthea are both very determined and are training extremely hard. They have taken to the ice very well. Pam is particularly enjoying herself, and is very good. But they are both set on impressing the judges and audience with their skills.’
Anthea’s confessed to being a bit bruised and battered from all the training with partner Andrew Buchanan.
Name: Joe Pasquale
No stranger to the reality TV scene, Joe was crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ when he appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004. Will his competitive edge lead him to another reality win?
Skating with Vicky Ogden, Joe has confessed that he slathers himself in Deep Heat every night to help with all the bruising.
Name: Oona King, aka Baroness King of Bow
Occupation: Labour politician
Bringing some political edge to the proceedings is life peer Oona King, who famously lost her Bethnal Green seat to George Galloway in 2005.
Oona’s partner is Mark Hanretty, but the politician’s dream skating partner is a fairly democratic choice: President Barack Obama.
Name: Samia Ghadie
Occupation: Coronation Street actress
The Corrie star has legions of soap fans supporting her, but her number one cheerleader is undoubtedly her daughter Freya, who encouraged her to take part. ‘We both love the show, but she LOVES the show so I?m excited to be on the ice and in the costumes for her as she?ll be really excited! She will just love seeing her mummy all glammed up.’
Samia will be showing off her best moves on the ice with French partner Sylvain Longchambon.
Name: Keith Chegwin
Occupation: Actor and TV presenter
A shoulder injury had him sidelined last season, so Chegwin is raring to go after spending a year preparing for this new challenge. His biggest fear isn’t slipping on the ice – it’s wearing spandex.
Russian-born Olga Sharutenko will be helping Keith master his moves on the ice, which may prove to be quite the challenge. Chegwin has said that his wife thinks he looks like a ‘chicken’ when he dances.
Name: Lauren Goodger
Occupation: Reality TV star
With her penchant for false lashes, fake tan, and lots of sparkles, we predict Lauren will be bringing some serious bling to the ice this season.
Lauren is teaming up with French ice dancer Michael Zenezini, who may need to generate some heat to keep his partner happy. ‘I hate being cold; it?ll be freezing on the ice but the costumes will show off my tan!’ says Lauren.
Name: Matt Lapinskas
Occupation: Ex-Eastenders actor
The Eastenders star has already had plenty of bumps and bruises, and cracked his hip bone in training, but injuries haven’t fazed him. His biggest fear? ‘My costume splitting open.’
Half-Canadian Lapinskas has been having a blast with his Canadian-born partner, Brianne Delcourt, who has confessed: ‘Sometimes we laugh so much we can?t skate.?
Name: Luke Campbell
Occupation: Olympic gold-medal winning boxer
The bantamweight champ and father-of-two has already won gold in one ring and is out to prove he can do just as well on skates as he can in boxing boots.
Luke is partnered with American Jenna Harrison, who is making her Dancing on Ice debut this season.
Name: Gareth Thomas
Occupation: Former rugby star
As the most capped Welsh player in rugby history, Gareth is used to the odd bruise… or 12. He plans to challenge himself and wants to be ‘able to do something that’s never been done on the show before.’
Gareth will be working his magic – and trying to make history – with Canadian partner Robin Johnstone.
Name: Shayne Ward
The winner of 2005’s X Factor is no stranger to taking first place, and his dance training – he starred as Stacey Lexx in West End musical Rock of Ages – will undoubtedly give him an edge on the ice.
Ward’s partner Maria Filippov has already come top of the pops on Dancing on Ice, winning the show with partner Ray Quinn in series four.
