Michael Lohan says the Mean Girls star is addicted to prescription drugs

Lindsay Lohan's father has given a bizarre interview, during which he claims the actress is hooked on prescription drugs.

Michael Lohan says the Mean Girls star is so addicted, she is no longer able to work.

'You know why Lindsay's not acting in feature films right now? Because she can't,' he told RadarOnline.com.

'Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that's grown because of the prescription drugs.'

Michael claims Lindsay's addiction is also affecting her behaviour with friends and family.

He says, 'When you hug her she's, like, vacant inside. When she kisses or holds me I get chills, and not in a good way - in a bad way.'

Michael is said to be so worried about Lindsay's reported problems, he fears her addiction could end her life.

'It's not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson,' he adds.

But the 23-year-old's father believes he can help get her career back on track.

'I'm going to get her off the prescription drugs that she's on,' he vowed.

Lindsay's recent collection for fashion house Ungaro was widely panned by critics as 'cheesy', 'dated' and 'unprofessional'.

If Michael's claims are true, we hope he can help Lindsay. What happened to the cute redhed in The Parent Trap?
