Kate wears a dress by Glamorous...

Duchess Kate has been dressing diplomatically throughout her tour of India and, on day three, she added a new dimension to her sartorial mix – the great British high street.

Kate’s tour wardrobe has, so far, included hits from Indian designers (Saloni and Anita Dongre) and her favourite British brands (Alexander McQueen, Temperley London and Emilia Wickstead). But yesterday, as she met with local children on the streets beside the New Delhi railway station, the high street had its turn as Kate wore a dress by Manchester-based fast-fashion label Glamorous.

The maxi dress, which featured a print inspired by Indian textiles and had full length sleeves and a lace-up neckline, was priced at just £50. Proving just how, well, effective, ‘the Kate effect’ really is, the dress sold out in all sizes within hours, but promises to be back in stock by 30th April, with an option on the Glamorous website to pre-order now.

The online retailer was said to be completely surprised when they spotted the Duchess wearing one of their dresses – perhaps a member of her team had placed the order anonymously, or popped in to one of the brand’s Topshop concessions, although it’s said that Kate does love online shopping and finding outfits for her tours.

‘It's very much a process that she leads, though she does have some help from her staff when it comes to sourcing outfits,’ a royal source told the Telegraph.

True to form, the Duchess teamed the dress with a trusty pair of nude flats by Russell & Bromley, the XPresso, priced at £175 and still fully in stock online.

So that’s a whole Kate outfit for £225? Not bad, Duchess, not bad.
