'There is nothing on earth that I want more than to be pregnant again.’

Kim Kardashian has revealed that she and husband Kanye West are struggling to conceive a second child and that even if they do, the new baby would likely be their last due to a problem with her womb.

The reality star explained that she experienced Placenta Accreta when pregnant with North West, a complication where the placenta attaches too deeply to the wall of the uterus, causing internal tearing and heavy haemorrhaging when the baby is born and it does detach. Affecting around 1 in every 2,500 pregnancies, doctors usually have to remove the placenta in surgery and the damaged muscle left behind can make it more difficult for future placentas to attach.

‘I'm trying to get a hold of Kanye, because I just came from my fertility doctor and they need me to go into surgery to clear out something in my uterus,’ she explained in a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which aired on Sunday.

'This doctor that I saw today told me every worse case scenario…he was like, ‘Ok, when you have your baby, this will be your last one, the problem is your placenta grew onto your uterus.’

‘So when you have another baby, your placenta will go right to that hole and then we'll have a team of doctors waiting right there, to remove your uterus and put you into emergency surgery right there because you can't bleed too much.’’

Kim’s already revealed that she and Kanye have been trying to conceive again without success. ‘It's been more challenging to get pregnant the second time around,’ she told The Daily Mail. ‘When you want it so bad, it's not happening.’ Now if she is able to conceive for a second time, her pregnancy would be considered high risk and she would likely need a hysterectomy if the same problem happened again after the birth.

‘When I was pregnant with North, I used to tell everyone there was no amount of money anyone could pay me to go through this experience again,’ she says of her hopes to plan a bigger family in the clip below. ‘And now, there is nothing on earth that I want more than to be pregnant again.

Now it's been revealed that Kim did recently undergo emergency surgery to have the remaining placenta removed from her uterus. In a conversation with her doctor, she discusses her possible next steps and looks at surrogacy as an option.

'You can still get pregnant but [having had this surgery] does expose you to risks during the pregnancy,' her doctor advises. 'If I can't guarantee that and surrogacy is the only way to give you a comfortable pregnancy and a nice healthy baby, we'll talk about that. I'm going to do everything I can to clean your uterus out and keep it as healthy as possible, but do what's safe for you.'

'Surrogacy is really scary for me,' Kim later told Kendall during the show. 'I don't want that to be my reality. It would be so annoying if I couldn't carry my own baby.'
