Kate Bosworth has ditched her California-girl blonde hair for her latest film project.

The actress was spotted rocking an eye-catching red shade on the set of her upcoming film Still Alice in New York on Tuesday.

Dressed in a knit jumper and an oversized parka, Kate looks relaxed and cool with her freshly dyed locks pulled back.

Last night, the actress tweeted an even more dramatic picture of her new look. 'Strawberry Fields. #StillAlice,' she wrote alongside the close-up snap (left).

It looks like Kate's dye job has been a work in progress. Last month, she was spotted at New York Fashion Week, rocking a lighter, strawberry-blonde shade (above, right). The colour was a departure from her previous bleach-blonde look - but not quite at the full red she has now.

In January she was seen holding hands with husband Michael Polish (and wearing a super cute pair of leather shorts), sporting a more honey-like hue.

And in October, the 31-year-old actress was seen with her lighter blonde locks styled into elegant waves.

We're glad she's finally made the transition to full-on redhead - after all, we love a good celebrity makeover.
