Preparations are underway ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal tour of Australia in April

Kate Middleton’s royal aides will fly to Sydney this month to make the final preparations ahead of her, Prince William and Prince George's royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge won't be setting off for their trip Down Under until April, the Sydney Morning Herald reports that royal preparations are already underway for the family's first overseas tour.

'An advance party of royal aides will arrive in Sydney this month to finalise precise details of the expected month-long itinerary', a source told the paper.

'One key issue is to secure accommodation where the then nine-month-old Prince George, third in line to the throne, can be cared for while the royal couple meet what is likely to be a gruelling program.'

In order to offer little George an extra dose of stability, Kate and William are reportedly planning to be based in Sydney for the majority of their stay.

'We have been told that Sydney will be the base but I don’t know how extensively they will be traveling,’ the insider added.

The couple's tour is likely to mirror the trip made by the Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1983. At the time, William was roughly Prince George's age, and is even said to have taken his first steps at their holiday home in Woomargama. Bless.

Unfortunately for us, however, we shouldn't expect to see much of our future King at all on this trip as his parents make every effort to keep him out of the spotlight.

Royal writer Valentine Low told The Times: 'William and Kate are very keen to protect their privacy and also that of George and they will probably allow George to be seen once or twice, as Charles and Diana did with William.'

'Apart from that, he'll be kept somewhere out of the public eye.'

Still, we're looking forward to hearing all about their Australian adventure as it happens. And to ogle over Kate's fabulous holiday wardrobe, of course...
