So, what do the royals really do in their downtime?

US Weekly reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and nine-week-old Prince George spent their first holiday as a threesome taking in the beautiful Scottish landscape with a range of activities including hikes, golf and mummy-and-son sessions of relaxing and playing in the garden.

The couple and their son 'set up camp at Craigowan Lodge, a seven-bedroom stone house a mile from the Queen's castle,' according to the publication, and an insider revealed that the trip was 'a wonderful change of scene' for Prince William and Kate, involving 'more space and time with the family, which they love.'

The trip was also bonding opportunity for the Queen - who would wake with an early-AM bagpipe call (better than a newborn's squeals!) - and her great-grandson, and the family spent their evenings enjoying laidback barbeque dinners together (Prince Philip even did the grilling).

Prince George also got to meet New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who visited the Queen and royal family for two nights with son Max, 18, and daughter Stephanie, 20 and told the New Zealand Herald that the youngest royal is 'a very bonny baby.'

'I played golf in the morning, Stephanie went out hiking, Max was part of a shooting party, the Queen drove us around the estate so we had an opportunity to look at all the parts of Balmoral estate,' Key told the Herald.

'It was a truly remarkable and extraordinary experience. They were extremely generous hosts and we had a fantastic weekend. We were invited in as guests in their private family time.'

Next time, can we wrangle an invite? Sounds fun!
