Glee producers have let slip that the hit TV show is being made into a musical.
20th Century Fox Chairman Gary Newman, revealed that two more seasons of the hit show were underway, as well as plans to adapt the show for the theatre.
'We launched a live stage business with a sold-out arena concert tour in 2011, and now a live stage musical is in the works,' Newman told the Hollywood Reporter.
The music-filled drama was simply made for musical format and the on-stage character chemistry has caused the show to air four previous successful series.
It has not been confirmed whether the stage show will feature popular actors Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele and Jane Lynch after the show lost one its leading stars, Cory Monteith, last month.
In the wake of Cory's death, FOX Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed that Glee, the TV show, will come to an end after these two confirmed series.
He said: 'Never say never, but… there’s two very clear arcs to get to that end and conclude [the series].'
Reilly went on to say that if a new 'crop' of talent emerged, there might be reason to continue but for now, they were set to conclude with series 5 and 6.
The on-off relationship between Lea's character Rachel and Cory's Finn (echoed in their real lives) has kept audiences tuning in since 2009, as two of the most popular cast characters.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the fifth season will deal directly with sensitive drugs and alcohol issues with Cory's character Finn being killed off at the end of the third episode.
The fifth series is expected to be a very emotional one with the cast and crew dealing with the strain of a sudden change in storyline and the psychological stress of losing a friend to the show.
