Helen Mirren has ruled herself out of the running to replace Matt Smith as the new Doctor Who, speaking out on the rumours in a new interview.
HELEN MIRREN TO REPLACE MATT SMITH IN DR WHO?
After weeks of whisperings, which said Ms Mirren was in the frame to play the first female Doctor, the Dame firmly said she won't be taking on the role.
Speaking to ITV's Daybreak, she not only said she won't be playing the Doctor, but also joked that the character should be female - and preferably black and gay, too.
‘I do think it’s well over-time to have a female Doctor Who,' she said. 'I think a gay, black female Doctor Who would be the best of all.’
Confirming she won't be taking on the part, she added: ‘I’m not going to be the first female Doctor Who, no, no, no, absolutely not, I absolutely wouldn’t contemplate that.'

Earlier this month, Helen Mirren sparked rumours she was in the running for the role, telling the Daily Star: 'I would like to play the new female Doctor Who. I don’t want to just be his sidekick.'
