Kate Middleton 'Doesn't Know' The Sex Of Royal Baby, Palace Confirms

More details of Kate Middleton's birthing plan have been revealed today, including the news that the Duke and Duchess do not know the sex of their baby

Kate Middleton doesn't know the sex of her baby, and has no plans to find out in advance of the birth, St James' Palace has confirmed today.

Details of the royal baby – and the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge's plans for the birth of her first child – have been released to the press, and reveal that Kate plans to have a natural labour at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington – the very same hospital where Princess Diana welcomed both Prince William and Prince Harry.

Despite reports stating otherwise, Kate and William do not know the sex of their child. Reports circulated that Kate was expecting a baby girl earlier this year when she accepted a teddy bear from a well wisher. She was thought to have said: 'Thank you, I'll take that for my d…,' before stopping herself. This statement squashes those reports once and for all.

The baby is expected to arrive within the next few weeks and will be announced in the traditional way – an official announcement will be signed by medical staff and according to BBC News 'driven to Buckingham Palace almost certainly under police escort'.

The Queen and the Middleton family will be told at the same time and a notice will then be placed on a golden easel outside Buckingham Palace for the general public to see. How exciting!

The baby will be delivered by Marcus Setchell, the Queen's gynaecologist and offficials at St James' Palace have appealed to the national press for an 'appropriate level of sensitivity' regarding the birth, adding: 'This is a very personal matter for the Duke and Duchess. But they also know it's a time to celebrate and many will want to share in their joy.'

They added that the events surrounding the prank call at King Edward VII Hospital where Kate was suffering from morning sickness were still 'fresh in the memory.'
