Fashion’s finest including Vera Wang and Diane von Furstenberg joined forces to raise funds for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort

Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of the American East Coast, particularly New York, but the relief effort is well under way with the likes of Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake helping out on the ground and Lady Gaga donating $1 million (£630,000). And now fashion has played its part as Fashion for Relief stepped in stylishly.

Last night, the charity hosted a celebrity-soaked event in New York, selling beautiful pieces to raise vital funds. To support the evening the fashion pack were out in full force with designers, Vera Wang, Nicole Miller and Diane von Furstenberg leading the way.

Joining them was Marchesa’s Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman as well as designers Stacey Bendet and Tory Burch. Also in attendance was New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Steven Kolb from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Finishing things up in true fashion form was Anna Wintour, model and writer, Lauren Santo Domingo and Jimmy Choo CEO Tamara Mellon.

Fashion for Relief’s president Naomi Campbell was notably absent from the event but is currently working on a separate project designing a bag that will raise money for Udayan Care who supports women and children in India.
