It was announced earlier this year that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are expecting their third child via a surrogate, with the new arrival expected in January.

The couple already share four-year-old daughter North and son Saint who is almost two, however due to Kim suffering from placenta accreta, another pregnancy would be considered life-threatening, leading the couple to use a surrogate for their third child.

Placenta accreta occurs when blood vessels grow too deep into the uterine wall which makes the placenta able to invade those muscles and grow through the wall.

The latest news relating to the Kardashian-West surrogacy has been revealed by TMZ, who announced this week that the couple were expecting a baby girl.

The site also revealed details about the surrogate, who according to reports is being paid $113,000 for carrying the Kardashian-West baby. According to TMZ the surrogate is an African-American women in her twenties, who has already given birth to her two sons with her husband of five years.

The pair are apparently required to deposit around $68,000 to the agency and are said to pay in monthly instalments. The contract will require the surrogate to refrain from any alcohol or drug consumption throughout the pregnancy and also abstain from sex leading up to the pregnancy, with TMZ reporting she is also banned from using hot tubs, hair dye or eating raw fish.

This all comes after Kim has openly talked about wanting more children – even undergoing surgery to try to repair the hole in her uterus – and she even asked her younger sister, Khloe, if she would consider being her surrogate, for her.

Kim had even said on the show: 'I think that I always knew that surrogacy was an option but I didn’t think it was that realistic of an option. Now I feel like that’s my reality. I feel like surrogacy is really the only other option for me.’
