Ashley Graham has called out Rihanna's Fenty x Puma show for lack of body diversity

'How dope would it have been to see some curves on the runway?'

'How dope would it have been to see some curves on the runway?'

Ashley Graham has been championing body diversity within fashion for years now. Whether she is proudly sharing photos of her cellulite, or admitting that even supermodels feel nervous in swimwear sometimes, she's a refreshing body positive voice in the modelling industry.

So when she went along to New York Fashion Week, she naturally popped in to Rihanna's Fenty x Puma Spring/Summer 2018 show. The singer-turned-designer took time out of her busy schedule (ahem, the wonder that is Fenty Beauty, anyone?) and the highly-anticipated event didn't fail to disappoint. The epic set included mountains of sparkly pink sand, and Rihanna zoomed in on an actual motorbike. Oh, and then there were the heeled flip flops.

Ashley was full of praise for the singer's show, admiring her decision to include an ethnically diverse group of models. However, there was one thing that she felt Rihanna could have done differently.

Talking to Yahoo, Ashley said: 'That was an amazing show. It was a very diverse group of women, which was really nice.

'But how dope would it have been to see some curves on the runway?'

Ashley has been campaigning for body diversity on the catwalk, and earlier this year admitted how hard it was for her to find designers to work with at the start of her career - all because she wasn't the 'standard' model size.

She continued: 'I think there's some designers who might want to have curves on the runway, but haven't figured it out maybe? It's funny to me, because I'll look at runways and think, I'd look so great in those clothes or, I know curvy women who would look so great in those clothes.'

It's not the first time that Ashley has spoken about inclusivity on the catwalk, and it certainly won't be the last.
