Kate Middleton has reportedly applied for Prince George's passport and is planning to take the tot to Australia and New Zealand next year.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are getting ready to jet across the globe with Prince George, and The Mirror reports that the royal couple have applied for the nine-week-old's £46 passport, which will bear the royal babe's full moniker: George Alexander Louis of Cambridge.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are planning to take their son with them on a tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014. When Prince William made an appearance at last month's Anglesey show, he told reporters:

'We are all very hopeful of coming to Australia next year.'

Prince George has already travelled around the UK in the past several weeks, going from London to Bucklebury to Anglesey and most recently, to visit his great-grandparents at Balmoral, where he met New Zealand's Prime Minister, John Key.

According to The Mirror, 'royal protocol dictates that an heir and the next in line should not fly together,' so the clan will need permission from the Queen before they set off on their Down Under adventure.

Prince William went on a similar tour with his parents when he was just nine months old, although the Queen wasn't quite so lucky - she was left behind when her parents went to visit Fiji, New Zealand and Australia when she was eight months old.

As for Prince George's stomping grounds in the UK, the Queen has reportedly green-lit renovations on Norfolk's Anmer Hall, which is rumoured to become the new country estate of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The 10-bedroom mansion is surrounded by thousands of acres of lush farmland, with an on-site tennis court and swimming pool.

Here's to hoping royal babies travel better than non-royal ones... that flight is going to be a long one!
