The Summer Sport Watches Worth The Investment

Wedge trainers, McQueen skull scarves and skinny jeans aside, my teenage years were anchored by overly stacked bracelets. The sole aim: to pile on as many as would either A) possibly fit, or B) be worn until the weight made lifting your arm a genuine challenge—whichever came first. Then came the era of minimalism: thin gold chains, solitary stud earrings, and the kind of quiet restraint I loyally adopted, forever following the lead of the best-dressed women on the internet. Now, older, marginally wiser and with a disposable income that stretches slightly further, the layered look is pulling me back in. And I'm not alone.

Chanel, Zimmermann, Saint Laurent and Celine all sent layered necklaces, earrings and bracelets down the Spring/Summer 26 runways—the more-is-more approach anchoring many an outfit in different ways, whether that was the beachy beads at Celine or the co-ordinated chunky sets at Saint Laurent. Or even Giovanna Engelbert's signature stacks of metallic necklaces, bracelets and bangles—the Englebert Creative Director as famous for the jewellery she creates as the pieces she wears.

A host of fine jewellery designers have made layering and stacking their USP. Visit Kismet by Milka’s website and you’ll find not only a wealth of inspiration for curating your own jewellery stack, but also an in-store piercing service, a detailed diagram highlighting 15 piercing zones and a host of visuals showcasing layered jewellery. Maria Tash was perhaps the trailblazer in fine jewellery, actively championing the art of ear stacking, while French maison Repossi has elevated the trend to high jewellery status with diamond ear cuffs in its Serti sur Vide collection—a stylistic choice once reserved for costume jewellery and demi-fine pieces.

All act as proof that the layered jewellery trend spans many an aesthetic, always within the more maximalist territory. And with two of Marie Claire's favourite dressers, Kai Collective CEO Fisayo Longe and corporate lawyer turned fashion content creator Lisa Ing Marinelli, sharing their approach, here's how to actually make it work.

"I have no rules when it comes to jewellery," says Marinelli. "Mixing metals? No problem. Coloured stones? No problem. Anything and everything goes." Her favourite way to wear it: unexpectedly. A statement earring with a sweatshirt. The largest ring on the little finger. Small details that immediately pull the eye away from the classic confines of fine jewellery.

Though she's clear on one thing: the teenage pile-it-all-on approach is not quite what we'd now call layering. It's less about stacking lots of pieces on top of each other and more about the pieces themselves becoming sculptural, "really focusing on the shape of the piece itself and not necessarily having to go with a simple stud or simple huggy," as she puts it.

Keep the word asymmetry in mind. A choker pairs particularly well with a long pendant. A layered bracelet look on one arm is all the more compelling with a near-bare arm on the other. "I love wearing things that are super casual, or something really not casual, and using jewellery to really set that apart," Marinelli adds, noting that the outfit you pair with your jewellery will always shape the overall effect.

For Longe, the same sentiment applies with a big emphasis on fun, a word we could all stand to weave more into our wardrobes. "One of my first inspirations growing up was actually my school principal in Lagos, Nigeria, Mrs Durand. Every morning at school she would sit outside welcoming us in and she was always dripping in gold. I wanted to be like her one day. She just looked so cool and expensive."

Her route to more Mrs Durand energy? One anchor piece, everything else built around it. "Usually there's one dominant piece, whether that's a statement necklace or chunky bangle, then build everything else around it. Play with different metals, lengths, gems, shapes and textures. Layering works best when there's contrast. A chunky plain gold bracelet against another with turquoise stones against another with orange gems."

The A-word surfaces again: asymmetrical. "The best layered jewellery always looks slightly accidental and not overly styled," Longe adds, the key aim being to create richness without looking too considered. Jewellery layering is an exercise in personality, after all. It's there to be played with.

If you have an eye for jewellery, chances are that Laura Vann is already on your radar. The British jeweller has been crafting Art Deco–inspired pieces for well over a decade—designs that strike a balance between statement and staple, and feel as fresh as they do truly timeless.

Over the years, everyone from Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle to Anya Taylor-Joy and Daisy Edgar-Jones has been spotted proudly rocking her eponymous brand's designs—and while Vann initially focused on the mid-price, demi-fine category, she has since expanded into precious gemstones and bespoke to meet ever-increasing customer demand.

Here, Laura Vann shares what life really looks like behind the scenes of her nine-to-five, from early-morning routines and office essentials, to the many achievements and lessons learned along the way.

I can't start my day without... A cuddle in bed with my daughter and something caffeinated.

Getting dressed in the morning is about... Whatever fits, as I'm heavily pregnant right now. But usually it’s jeans, a nice shirt, ballet flats, a trench or leather coat and my favourite bag from Stylein which fits everything I could possibly need for the day.

My office essentials are... A nail file and OPI polish (for shooting ring videos), a sketch book and, much as I wish it wasn’t, the ever-present phone.

My favourite post-work ritual is... Lighting a Diptyque candle—it's a small and easy win to help me unwind. That said, with a lively four year old at home, I don’t get much time for rituals.

The idea for my jewellery brand first came in 2012... At the time, I was working for COS after graduating and also helping out part-time at my dad’s jewellery business. I really admired the COS ethos of mid-priced, nicely made, timeless classics, and realised that, with my dad’s 30-plus years of industry experience, we had the perfect platform to apply that same ethos to jewellery.

Our jewellery collections are hugely inspired by Art Deco design. I tend to look at contemporary trends and apply a Deco aesthetic, which results in pieces that are timeless yet relevant.

My favourite thing about my job? I always love photoshoots and designing bespoke pieces as they allow me to go back to being creative which, as we grow, is less and less part of my day-to-day. That said, I’m also really enjoying a more strategic role—especially now that we’re starting to achieve our ambitions. After more than 10 years in business, I have had a million 'no's, but with all our hard work and resilience the brand is starting to accomplish my dreams, and having a hand in those deals, launches and collaborations is so fulfilling.

The most memorable highlight so far was... Definitely seeing Michelle Obama wearing our earrings—that was an incredible pinch-me moment!

One of my biggest career achievements is... Where the brand is stocked. I'm so proud of being in Liberty London and Harvey Nichols, as well as having a shop-in-shop in Fortnum & Mason—the latter have championed us for more than 10 years! Last year we expanded internationally and also launched at David Jones in Australia and NK in Sweden. Our retail partners are always evolving, and we have even more lined up for 2026!

The most important lesson I've learned is... That you can lead with compassion and kindness. Of course, there are some successful people who don’t do this, but their success is short lived and those who go on to greatness are good people who build authentic relationships and share their victories with others.

I love that as the brand (and I) have grown, our customers have come along for the journey... We used to just be 'demi-fine' but when I got married and struggled to find the perfect engagement ring, we expanded into bespoke and the demand for that business was born. Then as I became a mother, the brand grew in confidence and since then, we’ve had our biggest achievements thanks to a renewed clarity and focus.

Right now, I'm working on... Growing new life!

As for what's next? We have just collaborated with the amazing Francesca Hayward for our SS26 campaign, which I'm so excited to share with the world. And for AW26 I’ve been working on a collection very dear to my heart for the past two years which is finally going to be released. You’ll want to grab your popcorn for that one...

I can’t start my morning without… Symprove, followed by WelleCo Daily Greens. It all starts so well, and then I have two super-strong coffees, which I adore and which probably cancel out all the goodness!

My go-to work uniform is… A mix of denim and more denim, and cashmere—although it slightly depends on whether I’m just having a day in the studio or if I’m out for meetings. A well-ironed shirt is also a must. Sadly, I am pathetic when it comes to wearing heels. I would love to be super glam and be able to wear killer stilettos, but the reality is that it’s normally Gucci loafers or Adidas Sambas.

My office essentials are… Peppermint tea and apple cider vinegar, which I put in water and sip all day; Mitty, my miniature dachshund, and her treats; my favourite Carambars, a beetroot and lentil salad from Gail’s, and a pair of good, sharp scissors. Blunt scissors make me mad!

My favourite post-work ritual is… A glass of white wine. It goes down very well while standing around the kitchen, chatting to my husband about anything and everything and trying to cobble a relatively healthy supper together. Pre-bed, I try to forget I have a phone and wind down, but it doesn’t always go that well.

I find inspiration for my designs from… Anywhere and everywhere. You just have to have your eyes open. I love old things—classically designed, simple pieces of antique jewellery or hardware, architectural technical drawings… We are so lucky to live in London and have access to so many museums and archives. But as well as all the historic references, you can’t beat London street style.

I have been in the jewellery industry for close to 30 years… Then, 10 years ago, the time felt right to put my name above the door and set up Tilly Sveaas. I could see there was a gap in the market and wanted to introduce modern, simple jewellery that wasn’t fussy but created a statement without trying too hard. When the company carries your name, there is a certain pressure to create something you are very proud of. There is nobody to hide behind!

The best thing about my job is… Seeing my ideas and designs come to life, and then actually walking past someone in the street wearing a piece and looking absolutely awesome in it. It always makes me smile hugely!

The biggest pinch-me moment so far was… When I saw Taylor Swift suddenly appearing in one of our T-Bar necklaces. That was a pretty amazing and unforgettable moment.

The career achievement I’m proudest of is… Growing my business more than 4.5 times in the last two years and still standing, smiling and being enthusiastic! The company is 100% privately owned, and I have never taken on external investment, so the business has grown purely from profit, which I am incredibly proud of.

The most important lessons I’ve learned are… Always listen to your hunch, you know the business and your customers better than anyone. Be kind and really, really care about the people who work for you. And it’s OK to say “no”.

Tilly Sveaas Jewellery has evolved organically… We have had rapid growth over the last two years, but this has been built on a strong foundation and a really loyal customer base, whom we understand fully and can, therefore, communicate with effectively.

Right now, I’m working on… This year is our 10-year anniversary, so we have lots going on including designs celebrating the culmination of the past decade, the introduction of a new collection, as well as some Tilly Sveaas merch. We also have a new website launching in May and, of course, parties to celebrate the milestone.

As for future plans… We’re focusing on growing across the pond! It would also be fun to experiment with a retail space later in the year.

I can't start my morning without... A cup of hot water infused with lemon and ginger. The water has to be tepid rather than boiling, which I’ve learned is much kinder to your system first thing in the morning. And whenever I can, I follow it with my Tibetan exercises: twenty-one repetitions of five movements. I started practising them a few years ago, and they’ve become a quiet ritual that wakes everything up and keeps my body as supple as possible before the day takes off.

I’m usually in a tearing hurry in the mornings, so I tend to decide what I’m going to wear the night before. My day can vary between time in the studio and meeting clients in my bespoke space, and what I wear needs to work for both. I always think about how my jewellery will sit on an outfit, because I do a lot of stacking with necklaces and bracelets. Whatever I choose has to show that off properly. And because I often go straight from the office to meetings or dinner without time to go home, I rely on a great pair of earrings to elevate whatever I’m wearing in an instant.

My studio essentials are... Perfect light, fresh flowers, a scented candle and a beautifully curated playlist—in an ideal world, that is. But the truth is, no two days look the same. More often than not, I’m rushing between meetings with several projects on the go and a notepad that’s never quite where I left it. What I do rely on are the tactile things: trays of stones, wax models and half-formed ideas scattered across my desk. The studio comes alive when my incredible team and I are all around the table, sparking ideas off each other. After that, I often listen to Desert Island Discs—it’s actually where I found the inspiration for my own podcast. It’s the perfect way to settle my mind before bed.

I’ve always believed that jewellery is most powerful when it holds a story, so my inspiration usually begins with life itself... The places I travel, the objects I collect, the people I meet, and those small moments that unexpectedly stay with you. I’m very magpie-like and am constantly finding inspiration, often from something as simple as the curve of a leaf, a texture of a sweet or a line in a poem.

Every collection begins with a narrative and a series of sketches. We pair those hand sketches with digital modelling to explore movement, scale and structure in ways we couldn’t before. I work very closely with our workshops—many of whom I’ve collaborated with for over twenty years—to refine each piece until it feels effortless on the body. I’m obsessed with how a piece feels on the body: jewellery should be lived in, not stored away, so we refine again and again until the piece has the perfect balance of beauty, craftsmanship and ease.

After the success of Links of London, I genuinely didn’t think I’d return to jewellery... But over time, I found myself looking for something I couldn’t find: an independent place to buy fine jewellery for myself— pieces designed by a woman, with a sense of ease, playfulness and personality, rather than the traditional, rather aloof experience the industry was known for. I also felt a strong pull to work in fine materials; I was excited by the creative possibilities of gold, colour and precious stones, and by the idea of building a fine-jewellery brand that felt modern, warm, and full of joy. That became the spark for Annoushka: a desire to bring craftsmanship and creativity together in a way that felt playful, expressive and deeply personal.

My proudest career achievement is... Receiving an MBE alongside my husband John for services to the jewellery industry. It was a recognition of the work we began together at Links of London all those years ago, and it meant a great deal to both of us.

The most important lesson I've learned in business is... The value of staying completely true to what you believe in. For me, that means working with real, natural materials and maintaining the integrity of traditional craftsmanship. I have always championed natural diamonds and solid 18 or 14 carat gold, and that commitment has shaped everything I create. More recently, I introduced sterling silver into the Knuckle collection so younger customers can enjoy beautifully made pieces at a more accessible price. Right now, I'm working on... So many things! Our recently launched Bespoke Studio is alive with commissions, from engagement rings and push presents, to quieter milestones that matter just as much. Each commission feels like its own little universe, and it’s a privilege to help people mark their lives in gold. We’ve also just launched Knuckle in sterling silver, which has brought a whole new energy to the collection. Clients love its strength and simplicity, and seeing them make it their own is shaping how we think about the next chapter for Knuckle. So currently, it’s really about two things: deepening the personal, human side of what we do through bespoke, and building on the momentum of a collection that’s fast becoming a modern icon.

As for future plans? It’s an undeniably challenging moment, with gold prices at an all-time high and the world feeling more uncertain than ever—but it’s pushing us to be even more inventive and focussed, and that’s a good thing. Our Bespoke Studio is growing fast, and we’re developing new collections that take our design language into bolder, more modern territory. We’re also sharpening the client experience across every touchpoint and strengthening our digital presence so we can meet women exactly where they are. And like everyone, we’re energised by what AI can unlock, from creative exploration to smarter personalisation. It’s a time that demands innovation and clarity, and we’re leaning into both.

Architecture also inspires me endlessly—from Paris to Dubai, and New York. Each city has its own identity, rhythm, and lines.

When I founded Messika, diamonds were still perceived as something you received once in your life... Often for an engagement—and then kept in a safe. I wanted to change that narrative. My vision was to modernise diamonds, to make them part of everyday life. Jewellery you could wear with jeans, a T-shirt, and the right attitude. Diamonds that move, that feel alive, sensual, and free.

The best thing about my job is... The people I meet. I’m incredibly lucky to cross paths with inspiring individuals, from Kate Moss to Natalia Vodianova—women I hold close to my heart—with whom I’ve had the chance to create truly special projects. A collection with Kate Moss, a High Jewellery campaign with Natalia… These encounters constantly fuel my creativity and evolution. They remind me that everything is possible when desire and the right instinct are there.

The biggest pinch-me moment of my career so far was... My first fashion show at the Ritz in Paris. It was a defining moment—seeing Messika jewellery presented like fashion, worn with freedom and attitude. Having Kate Moss walk and collaborate on that moment made it even more surreal.

My biggest career achievement is... The opening of our Madison Avenue boutique in New York. It was a major step for Messika internationally and a strong symbol of the brand’s global recognition, especially in such an iconic location.

The most important lesson I've learned in business is... Always trust your instinct.

Messika has evolved hugely over the past 20 years... Today, the Maison speaks to a global audience, with strong foundations in France and the Middle East, two key markets in its development. Over the past year, Messika has continued to strengthen its presence in the United States, while accelerating its expansion in India, marked by the opening of its boutique in New Delhi.

Currently, I'm working on... The launch of Moderniste, a new pillar and a new chapter for the Maison. For the first time, I’m working gold as a raw, organic material, almost like sculpture. It’s a true homage to architecture. I can’t wait to see how the Moderniste woman—and man—will make these pieces their own. Moderniste speaks to both women and men who appreciate design, architecture, and objects with meaning. A form of luxury that is quiet but unmistakable.

As for what's on the horizon in 2026? Moderniste will continue to unfold, alongside our next High Jewellery collection. I’m also continuing my exploration of coloured gemstones, a direction I embraced for the first time in 2025 to celebrate Messika’s 20th anniversary.

If this season's accessory trends have proven anything, it’s that the appetite for nostalgia has never been stronger. Think back to circa 2008, when statement jewellery sat at the heart of every outfit. Leaving the house with layered necklaces, stacked bracelets, and multiple rings wasn’t optional, but a prerequisite for styling a great look.

Jewellery aficionados will be all too familiar with David Morris, founder of the eponymous London luxury jewellery house synonymous with exquisite craftsmanship, rare gemstones and a certain Hollywood glamour. The name Cecily Morris, however? Perhaps less so—but not for long.

The granddaughter of the legendary jeweller and third generation to work in the family business, Cecily Morris has spent over a decade shaping the brand from behind the scenes. Now, she’s ready to step into the limelight with an expanded creative role. Alongside her position as Brand and Retail Director, Cecily has recently designed her first fine jewellery collection for the House: Triolette by Cecily Morris, crafted entirely in 18-carat yellow gold. The concept? “Wearable, stackable jewels that feel as effortless and easy-going as the woman behind them.”

Here, Cecily Morris shares what life looks like behind the scenes of her family business and what she gets up to in her nine-to-five—from morning rituals and office essentials to the important lessons she’s learned along the way.

I can't start my morning without... A homemade smoothie, that contains a mix of seeds and fruits.

Lately, I have been using the app Indyx to keep track of all my clothes... It has made my life so much easier, and I love discovering items I haven’t worn for a while. I usually check my diary the night before to see if it will be a smart or casual day, have a quick look at the weather, and then pick my outfit.

My number one office essential is... My phone. It may sound obvious, but I have to be constantly contactable. With lots of travel, I am used to working on the go—in just over the past month, I have been to Japan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Paris. I am always in touch with my team, so I have to be comfortable working remotely.

My favourite post-work, pre-bed ritual is... Heading to the gym, then relaxing with Netflix—either something new or Gilmore Girls on repeat. I change into my PJs and read on my Kindle. The days are so busy, so I quite enjoy these calming activities to wind down.

For my first jewellery collection, Triolette, I drew inspiration from my own jewellery wardrobe and how I naturally layer pieces... I started with a simple concept—in this case, three geometric shapes—and then worked closely with the design team to explore how each piece could be stacked, mixed, and worn in multiple ways. The process was very hands-on: I used my ears as a canvas, refined the details, and made sure each piece was versatile, wearable, and still true to David Morris’s heritage.

The idea for Triolette came from wanting to create jewellery that I would actually wear every day... It had to feel effortless, personal and natural. The ‘Triolette’ woman reflects that same spirit: she is confident, playful and modern, mixing and matching her jewellery in a way that expresses her individuality. She wears her pieces her way, embracing a style that is both versatile and uniquely her own.

My favourite thing about my job is... The variety, and the different aspects I get to be involved in—from people management to events, marketing and campaigns. I particularly enjoy working on advertising campaigns and seeing the creative ideas come to life.

One of the biggest highlights of my career has been... Working so closely with my father, CEO and Creative Director Jeremy Morris. There have been so many pinch-me moments over the years, often travel related. I get to see incredible places because of the job—we have hosted amazing events in locations such as Mykonos and Thailand, and I also travel with my father to stone fairs. His passion for stone sourcing and creating extraordinary High Jewellery is incredible, and I have been lucky to see it first-hand, including trips to Hong Kong, which are always awe-inspiring.

My biggest career achievement to date is... Definitely the launch of Triolette, my first collection. Seeing all the marketing come to life has been incredible, and it still feels surreal to see my work on massive billboards in the Middle East.

The most important lesson I have learned in business is... To be aware of people’s intentions and to understand how to resolve deep-rooted, fundamental issues within the company.

I have been in the business for ten years and have really worked my way up... I started as a receptionist and spent time in retail at Harrods. I quickly fell in love with marketing and have spent almost all of my time here in the marketing department. Over the years, I have gained a strong understanding of the whole business, and I am now the Brand and Retail Director.

Currently, I'm working on... The 2026 marketing and events calendar. We have lots of exciting things coming up!

I can't share specific future plans at the moment, but I'm very much continuing on my design journey. A big focus for me is educating people about the heritage of David Morris and sharing the story of the House. I’d love to bring back elements of what my grandparents built—their original ideas and way of thinking—but reinterpret them in a modern way. My grandparents, particularly my grandmother, were deeply focused on fine jewellery collections, while my father’s true passion has always been High Jewellery and sourcing exceptional stones. Bringing those influences together feels like a very natural next step.

If there's one piece of jewellery that dominated on the red carpet this year, it was the subtly striking ear cuff, worn by the likes of Rihanna, Cynthia Erivo, Adwoa Aboah, Cate Blanchett, Vanessa Kirby and Julia Garner. The designers behind jewellery brand Otiumberg, Christie and Rosanna Wollenberg, are betting big on the trend for 2026: "Ear cuffs are a standout trend—the appeal lies in their refined yet sculptural silhouette, offering a modern twist that feels effortless but directional," they say, adding that their ear cuff sets have been particularly popular thanks to their ability to "create a complete, pre-styled look without the need for piercings."

Fendi, too, adorned models' ears in colourful cuffs for its Spring/Summer 2026 show, while Zimmermann and Schiaparelli showed their own artistic iterations on the runway. It's little surprise, then, that when asked which one piece of jewellery is worth investing in for the year ahead, Tomfoolery London's creative director Laura Kay answered: "a sculptural statement earring, such as a bold cuff". "It captures a few major 2026 trends—scale, minimalism and modern confidence—while being versatile enough to elevate everything from tailoring to eveningwear," she said. "It’s both trend-forward and timeless—making it a true wardrobe cornerstone."

Sculptural Silver

If you're looking for a new piece of jewellery that offers maximum impact for minimum price, you'll be delighted to hear that sculptural silver pieces are set to be a major 2026 trend. "As gold prices continue to rise, we’re seeing a renewed appreciation for bold, sculptural silver jewellery," says Nombulelo Makombe, a jewellery and accessories buyer at Liberty London. "Designers are using silver to experiment with form and scale, offering pieces that feel expressive and impactful while remaining more accessible."

Tomfoolery's Laura Kay agrees, noting that "silver, especially mixed with unexpected textures or finishes, remains a key neutral that feels fresh against both day and evening looks."

Brown Diamonds

As a jewellery aficionado myself, I've spent countless hours browsing new designs over the past few months, and the one thing I have noticed cropping up time and time again is brown diamonds. Cognac, chocolate and champagne-coloured stones are just as special and sparkly as their traditional white counterparts, while having the added benefit of being generally more affordable—not to mention far less ubiquitous. In fact, I'd say I've found myself drawn to them for this very reason; their scarcity only makes them all the more chic.

Liberty London buyer Nombulelo Makombe is of the same opinion: "Brown diamonds offer a beautifully varied palette and feel timeless, understated and full of character," she says. "At Liberty, designers such as Ellis Mhairi Cameron and Lucy Delius work with these stones in a way that feels modern yet enduring—they’re pieces you’ll wear for years to come."

High-Low Jewellery

If there's one person I always look to for jewellery insight and inspiration, it's Rosie Lillis. Founder of a boutique PR agency and industry expert with decades of high-end jewellery experience under her belt, she also has impeccable taste—so she was one of the first people I turned to for 2026 trend insights. The one she's most excited about? High-low jewellery.

"We’re seeing a number of jewellers incorporating non-traditional materials—from cords to resin—into their designs as a creative response to the rising price of gold," she says. "It’s giving rise to a new wave of 'high-low' fine jewellery that mixes luxury craftsmanship with playful, accessible materials. Designers like Roxanne First and Alison Lou are among those doing this best. It's a trend that feels fun, modern and, most importantly, doesn’t cost the earth."

Elevated Beads

"Beaded jewellery has evolved beyond its traditional summer or resort associations and is now being styled as a confident, year-round statement," says Liberty London's Nombulelo Makombe. "For 2026, it feels more refined and intentional. Lizzie Fortunato captures this beautifully through unexpected colour combinations, while Martha Calvo brings a playful, irreverent edge. BonBon Jewellery offers a more earthy, tactile interpretation, balancing bold design with an organic sensibility."

The creative director of Tomfoolery London is also backing bougie beads, with a particular focus on "refined materials and structural beadwork that reads luxe, not playful"—so you can rest assured this is a trend that's well worth buying into.

Vintage-Inspired Jewellery

"Vintage references will continue to shape jewellery in 2026, but in a way that feels modern rather than overtly nostalgic," says Nombulelo Makombe. "Designers are embracing the moodier elegance of black rhodium plating, the graphic confidence of Art Deco silhouettes, and T-bar motifs inspired by antique pocket-watch chains. The result is jewellery that feels richly storied, architectural and contemporary. For accessible price points, brands like Laura Vann and Tilly Sveaas do this beautifully, while for investment pieces I love Lucy Delius’ black rhodium-plated 18ct yellow gold T-bar charms."

Even better? If you have actual vintage pieces already in your jewellery box, that not only nail this aesthetic but come with their own memories and stories, too.

Bold Self Expression

A trend that basically says "anything goes"? That's one we can all get behind. Jeweller Roxanne First predicts that even more so than today, "2026 will be all about personal expression and wearability when it comes to jewellery."

"We’re seeing a lot of layering, chains, rings, and bracelets styled together alongside more sculptural, design-led shapes," she explains. "Colour is also key, with gemstones and enamel adding a playful edge. Personalised and meaningful pieces continue to resonate, as customers look for jewellery that feels individual." In this same vein, Net-A-Porter has noticed a 136% increase in searches for charm bracelets in the past month alone.

So, in short: stack, create, and combine to your heart's content, and invest in pieces that feel like the truest reflection of you—because having fun with your self-expression is the most important 'trend' of all.

I can't start my morning without... A cup of tea. Always. It's the ritual of it, the quiet before everything begins. I've tried to be a coffee person, but tea feels like coming home.

My approach to everyday dressing is... Comfort first. But comfort that still feels like me. I lean toward the playful and feminine, good fabrics, interesting textures, pieces that move well. Prada trousers, a Phoebe Philo jumper, trainers. I don't overthink it. Jewellery is where I express myself, that's the one thing I never rush.

My office essentials are... Natural light. I can't function without it. We're lucky with our space; it's in an old industrial building with huge windows and white brick. Very New York loft. My Smythson notebook never leaves my side, and I'm particular about pens. And the pinboards. The studio is covered in them. Ideas, images, sketches. Everything I'm thinking about needs to be visible. It's how I make connections I wouldn't otherwise see.

My favourite post-work ritual is... A bath and a book. Simple things. The day fills up with so many details, so many decisions. By evening I want quiet and warmth and someone’s else’s story. That's enough.

I find design inspiration from... Everywhere, truthfully. Art, nature, travel, conversations, symbols that have meant something across cultures and generations. A lot of our charms begin with emotion. What do women want to carry close to them? What stories do they need to hold? The process takes time. There's a lot of sketching, trial and error, getting the scale and weight exactly right. Each charm is tiny but it has to feel significant. That tension between small and meaningful, that's where I spend most of my creative energy.

I grew up around antique jewellery... My uncle was a jeweller at Grays Antiques in Mayfair, still the best place in the world to find antique pieces. I'd pull up a stool at his counter and marvel at Victorian treasures with hidden compartments and secret messages. Jewellery that did something, that held something. That idea never left me.

What makes Loquet special is that it's yours before it's mine. You choose the charms. You decide what story your locket tells. No one else can make your choices or tell your story. We're creating modern heirlooms, jewellery that celebrates your memories, your milestones, your people. An intimate celebration of self.

The favourite thing about my job is... Unexpectedly meeting someone I don't know wearing our jewellery. It's pure joy hearing what their piece means to them, how it holds their memories, their milestones, their people. Someone will talk me through each of their chosen charms. That's when I remember we're not just making jewellery—we're making containers for what matters most.

One of the biggest highlights so far was... Collaborating with [British artist and illustrator] Charlie Mackesy. It was extraordinary. His work is so tender and true, and translating that into charms felt like a real honour. And more recently, working with [ballerina] Maria Nunez. The honesty that went into her charm design was something very special. There's a natural connection between what she does and what we do. Pure craftsmanship. Elegance. Discipline. Her strength and integrity pushed us to a new level of detail in her ballet shoe charm.

Joining Dover Street Market was a real pinch-me moment. It has been a fashion crush of mine since its inception. To be welcomed into that world, as a fellow London house, felt very accomplished.

My biggest achievement to date? Building something that genuinely means something to the women who wear it. That sounds simple, but it's not. There's so much jewellery in the world. To create pieces that people feel connected to, that they pass down, that become part of their family story, that feels like the achievement. Over a decade in, and women are still telling me what their lockets hold. That connection is everything.

The most important lesson I've learned is... That craftsmanship and integrity are everything. You cannot build something you don't believe in. And the advice I return to constantly: do one thing and be the best at what you do. The temptation to expand, diversify, chase trends, it's constant. But depth matters more than breadth. Know who you are. Stay there.

Over the years, we've refined rather than reinvented. The core idea, jewellery that tells your story, hasn't changed. But the craftsmanship has evolved, the designs have grown more sophisticated. We've recently redesigned our charms to be larger with more detail, so they stack beautifully and every charm is visible within the locket. We've moved into making the whole collection using solid 18k gold and F-coloured diamonds. Materials and details have become our central focus, so that each and every piece feels like a jewel in itself. It's been the most significant evolution yet.

We've just completed a major redesign of the entire collection. New charm sizes, new locket details, a completely refreshed website and store. There isn't an area of the business that hasn't been reconsidered. It's been an incredibly exciting couple of years. The result is a deliberately simple experience that lets the craftsmanship of the jewellery take centre stage.

We're always developing new charms, new ways to tell your story... We're currently continuing to expand our charm collaborations with people who align with our values. The woman who wears Loquet is collecting her life. My job is to make sure she has the vocabulary she needs.

Our next project is to grow our bespoke service. The idea that someone can create their own charm, something that exists nowhere else in the world, feels like the purest expression of what we do. That's the work that excites me most.

I can't start my morning without... A glass of water (as my best mate Nina tells me it's good for me) and a coffee, obviously.

My go-to look for work is... Jeans, loafers, and a great knit. It’s funny: I used to really embrace colour in everything, but as I’ve got older—and maybe just busier—I’ve found myself leaning into a more pared-back, capsule wardrobe. Sometimes, a great pair of jeans and the right shoes is all you need. It’s easy, it works, and it leaves room for the jewellery to do the talking. I always think of Jonathan Anderson: you’ll always see him in blue jeans, a jumper, and Solomon trainers—and he’s one of the coolest. Of course, I layer on the jewels. When it comes to jewellery, more is always more.

My in-office essentials are... My bulldog Boicey, who is in the studio with me from Tuesday to Thursday. He works from home with my fiancé James the rest of the week (flexible hours, obviously). He’s the best vibe, even if full-time office life isn’t really his thing— too many naps, not enough hustle. I’ve got a few crystals on my desk (yes, I’m that person), and there’s always music playing. It's a space with energy. Oh, and coffee, always more coffee.

I usually get home pretty late, so it never feels like I have much of an evening... But if I can carve out a bit of time, I’ll run a hot bath and lather myself in Olverum—the smell is divine. I’m also a big fan of a red light mask in bed, just before the lights go out. Very sci-fi, very soothing. And mint tea, always a mint tea.

The women around me and the way they wear their jewellery have always been my greatest inspiration. All I need to do is look, and I’ll see something that sparks an idea. It’s instinctive. When I’m designing a new collection, it always starts with a moodboard—colours, textures, themes, a feeling. I bring those early thoughts to the team, and we sit together to discuss and develop them. Design is never just a single moment, it’s a process, an evolution. And my team’s ideas, input, and honest opinions are so important to me. They shape the direction just as much as I do.

My favourite thing about my job? That’s a tough question. When you work in a small business, we all have to wear so many hats—and I actually enjoy wearing a few of them. But if I had to choose, it would be creating collections and learning more about the materials I work with. That’s where the magic is for me.

There have been so many real pinch-me moments along the way... Getting an email from the Palace; A$AP Rocky purchasing three pieces in a London department store for Rihanna’s birthday; my old headmistress walking past our store on Walton Street, coming in and letting me know how proud she was—and how proud I should be of myself. But honestly, the best moments are seeing people I don’t know walking down the street or through an airport wearing RF. They’ve chosen to wear something I designed—and that means the world to me.

My biggest achievement? Starting and building RF over the past eight years, and getting to where we are now. Starting your own thing is incredibly tough, and I think it’s often glamourised on social media. The highs are brilliant, of course, but the lows can be just as intense. Working with amazing retail partners like MyTheresa and Liberty London has been a privilege, and meeting such creative, talented people along the way has lifted me during moments I’ve needed it most. But yes, for me, it’s simply still being here. Still building. Still doing it.

Every day is a school day when you run your own business. But the biggest lessons I've learnt are, first: always be on top of your balance sheet. It’s easy to get swept up in the creative or the momentum, but the numbers tell the real story—they determine the health of your business. Second: people. I’ve learned so much about how people behave under pressure, in growth, and in uncertainty. Someone once said to me, "Products don’t build businesses—people do," and I truly believe that. You’re only as good as the team around you. Not everyone will be right for every stage, and that’s one of the hardest, but most important, lessons to learn.

My brand has evolved as I have... At its core, it has always been an extension of me and how I interpret fine jewellery for women today. This year, we sat down as a team and really asked ourselves: why do we exist? How do we serve our clients? All roads led back to them—which is why we introduced our new brand ethos: You, First. Forever. We continue to create, experimenting with new materials, stones.

If you stop dreaming, it's kind of game over. Fundamentally, I believe that for a brand to live on, it has to evolve. Roxanne First started from a passion I had, and a dream—and I’ve just kept dreaming.

"Wander through places like Burlington Arcade or Gray’s Antiques Market in London," says Eliza Walter, founder of LYLIE. "They’re full of history and craftsmanship and always spark ideas. You can also visit luxury department stores with fine jewellery concessions to see a range of styles and settings side by side."

Jeweller Rachel Boston, meanwhile, recommends Instagram and Pinterest as a first port of call. "They're wonderful visual tools, but it’s important to curate what you’re looking at and also be realistic with stone sizes. I’d suggest following independent jewellers whose work feels thoughtful rather than trend-driven, you’ll start to learn what shapes and settings you get excited about. Visiting a few showrooms in person is invaluable too; seeing how rings feel on the hand tells you much more than a photo can."

How to Determine the Right Ring Size

"A ring should feel secure but comfortable, tight enough that it doesn’t spin round, but loose enough to slide over the knuckle without forcing it," explains Boston. "If you’re planning a surprise proposal, discreetly borrow one of their rings that fits the correct finger, or trace the inside of it as that gives a jeweller a good starting point."

If that's not possible, Wright recommends "selecting approximately a UK size M as a safe starting point to ensure the ring can be placed on the finger. After the surprise, have the ring professionally resized by a jeweller to achieve a perfect fit." Alternatively, you can simply go to a local jeweller to get measured with a metal sizing tool, or print off a sizer from your chosen brands' website.

What is the Best Stone for an Engagement Ring?

"Think about what matters most to you: brilliance, shape, colour, or individuality," says Boston. "If you love symmetry and sparkle, a classic white diamond might be perfect. If you prefer something with some extra character, antique or coloured stones could feel more interesting to you. My advice is always to choose a diamond or gemstone that excites you, as that reaction can mean you’ve found the right one."

You'll need to consider durability, too. "Look at the stone’s hardness on the Mohs scale—the higher, the better for everyday wear," says Walter. "Sapphires (including coloured varieties) and rubies are an excellent choice, while softer stones like aquamarine or tanzanite are best avoided as they can scratch or chip more easily over time."

What is the Best Metal for an Engagement Ring?

"If you’re shopping for someone else, it can be helpful to look at their existing jewellery to see whether they tend to wear yellow gold, white metals, or rose gold," says Wright. "Yellow gold offers a warm, traditional appearance, while white metals such as platinum and white gold beautifully enhance the brilliance of white diamonds. Rose gold adds soft warmth that complements many skin tones. Ultimately, it’s a personal decision influenced by individual style and colouring. Platinum and gold are both durable choices suitable for everyday wear."

Lab-Grown vs Natural Diamonds

"Lab-grown diamonds offer excellent value for money and full traceability, making them a great choice if you’re looking for a larger or higher-clarity stone within a certain budget," says Wright. "It’s worth noting, however, that their resale value can be less stable compared to natural diamonds."

The latter might be more expensive, but for Boston, natural diamonds still make for a worthwhile investment. "For me personally, they carry more of an emotional connection as each one is a unique piece of the earth’s history, billions of years old, and truly one of a kind," she says. "But ultimately, it comes down to what feels more meaningful to you—origin and history, or price point and scale. There’s no right or wrong answer"

"Antique engagement rings offer inherent sustainability, as no new mining or mass production is required," explains Wright. It may only be autumn, but the countdown to Christmas is already underway. This autumn has ushered in an era of statement necklaces. Michelle Williams on the red carpet wearing polka dots and a giant shell pendant, for example—and the brand has tapped into the nostalgic trend with a plethora of cord styles.

My personal favourite is the Dolores, a tassel necklace in either gold or silver that will drape beautifully down your torso, whether you’re wearing a white tee or a whisper-thin lace camisole. To level up your 9-5 wardrobe try Carmel, a blob pendant that, despite that description, is the definition of elegant.

For earrings lovers, Reformation has the modern version of your mum’s clip-ons, with styles that offer something a little more exciting than your average pair of hoops. The Joan features two sideways chain-links, with a spring-back fastening, perfect for jazzing up a white button-down for office days. Mabel is a hoop, although there’s nothing standard about her, with archival onyx detailing made from stones that were previously leftover, returned or rejected by suppliers.

Choose wisely and, like the brand’s dresses, your necklace, earrings, ring or bracelet will become a hard-working part of your wardrobe. Just be prepared to use the aforementioned phrase several times a day.

Does size matter? When it comes to diamonds at least, it seems the general consensus is that bigger is definitely better. And while for us mere mortals that might only ever mean the difference between a half- and one-carat engagement ring (if that!), this concept reaches a whole new level in the celebrity realm.

If ever we needed proof that the "quiet luxury" era is well and truly over, it's the sheer size of diamonds that seem to be filling our feeds of late. First came Lauren Sanchez's gobstopper pink diamond engagement ring, that has been estimated to weigh around 20 carats. Then, the wedding ring she wore on the occasion of her Venetian nuptials, featuring an oval diamond so gigantic that it makes the first seem subtle.

Georgina Rodríguez's engagement ring follows this same vein. Cristiano Ronaldo's longtime girlfriend, now fiancé, shared a photo on Instagram of her own mega-watt diamond ring earlier this week, immediately sparking debate about how big is too big—especially for a piece of jewellery that is supposedly meant to be worn every day. Is it so sizeable as to be genuinely uncomfortable? And at what precise point does a rare rock go from impressive and awe-inspiring, to just downright vulgar?

By comparison, I almost didn't even notice the 20-carat diamond hanging off Zoe Kravitz's neck for a recent television appearance. Perhaps it's a symptom of diamond blindness—so accustomed are we to having gigantic, incredibly rare stones thrust in our faces on social media that anything more subtle simply no longer registers.

Or, more likely, the subtlety was precisely the point. In her typically irreverent style, Kravitz wore said 20-carat Oval Eclipse diamond—a design by Jessica McCormack—hanging casually on a string, in a (quite literally) brilliant upgrade of the currently trending, Nineties-era rope pendant necklace. It was simply the ultimate, unexpected addition to her casual outfit—made up of a cropped black waistcoat, pinstripe trousers, bandana and sporty silver Nike sunglasses—as opposed to a gaudy display of wealth.

"There’s a definite trend right now for statement-scale jumbo diamonds," explains luxury jeweller Rachel Boston. "They’re a nod to a more maximalist mood in fashion and jewellery after years of minimalism."

It's no surprise that Rodriguez, Sanchez and Kravitz all opted for oval-cut stones, either: "The current favourite cut seems to be the oval, most likely because it’s flattering on the hand and neck, elongates the silhouette, and offers a big face-up spread for its carat weight, so it reads even larger to the eye," says Boston.

Social media and the content-ification of celebrities' lives has certainly contributed to the idea that 'bigger is better', too. "In a social-media-driven age, the sheer scale [of these diamonds] photographs impressively and creates a kind of visual shorthand for the ultra-rare," Boston explains. "And with lab-grown diamonds becoming increasingly accessible to the masses, celebrities may feel an even greater need to differentiate—pushing for stones that are not only natural, but so large and rare they’re beyond the reach of mass production."

That said, if ever you are so fortunate as to find yourself considering adding a jumbo diamond to your collection, take a leaf out of Zoe's book to ensure you style it the chic way.

'Exclusive' is the word that keeps the luxury fashion world in motion. Take the Hermès Birkin bag as your prime example. Yet when it comes to timepieces, that concept is only amplified. Limited-edition runs, exclusive drops, and invitation-only collections create a market that is not just elite, but often shrouded in secrecy—where prized curators whisper about the watches worth investing in, and only amongst themselves. Until, that is, a timepiece becomes so popular that every chic celebrity is spotted wearing one. Enter: the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini.

Now, if you're up to date on your horological knowledge, you’ll know that Audemars Piguet released the new 23mm Royal Oak Mini around this time last year. "It's a revival of the 1997 20mm model that channels the design codes Gerald Genta so masterfully imbued into the original larger Royal Oak back in 1972," says jewellery specialist, advisor and curator Mirta de Gisbert.

In only a short space of time, it has already racked up a number of famous faces as fans—including Hailey Bieber, Winnie Harlow, Simone Biles, and Serena Williams, who wore not one but two of the timepieces while presenting the 2024 ESPY Awards. Talk about making a real style statement.

Yet the most interesting element lies in its petite proportions. "The idea of size as a statement isn’t new, with oversized watches dominating headlines for years," continues Gisbert. "But at 23mm, the new Mini Royal Oak is flipping the script: being unapologetically small and understated has become the statement itself."

It’s this shrunken-down size that Lauren Kelly, personal shopper at luxury sourcing platform Threads, says feeds into the ‘mini effect’. "Across the fashion world, we've seen the demand for all things mini—take the Hermès Mini Kelly or the Chanel Mini Vanity, for example—and now the introduction of the mini version of such a famous timepiece," she shares. "It's this, combined with the limited release of the frosted colours, that has sent the resale market soaring."

The colourways in question? 18-carat white, yellow and pink gold, all rendered in a frosted finish—a style originally dreamed up by jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. Yet if you thought choosing a colour was the hardest part, you'd be sorely mistaken.

Audemars Piguet produces around 50,000 watches a year. Split that across every model and colour in the collection, and you're left with a modest (read: incredibly exclusive) number of watches in each style. So, rumour has it, it can be less a case of you choosing the watch, and more that the watch (or rather, the brand) chooses you—through carefully managed appointments and profile analysis.

Unless, of course, you use a sourcing service like Threads, or search for a pre-loved vintage model at the likes of Sotheby’s. If only we had the pull of the A-list...
