Ryan Gosling has been front and centre this month, with the 45-year-old actor returning to screens in Project Hail Mary.

The highly-anticipated science fiction film is an adaptation of the bestselling book by Andy Weir, following science teacher Ryland Grace [Gosling], as he goes on a space mission to save the planet, teaming up with an alien called Rocky in the process.

It was Gosling's family however, that made the most headlines over his press tour. The actor shares two daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, nine, with partner Eva Mendes. And according to Gosling, he made Project Hail Mary for them.

"I made this for them essentially," Gosling explained in an interview with Access. "As a family, I’d like a movie like this that I’d like to see. I just feel really honoured that I got to make one."

Gosling and Mendes are known to be extremely private about their relationship and family life, rarely speaking about each other or their children in public.

But in a rare exception, Gosling went on to explain that his children played an important role in giving him feedback, describing them as the "only critics" that he cares about.

"My kids have seen multiple cuts," the Crazy, Stupid, Love actor recalled. "They give me multiple notes. They’re basically the only critics I care about, and they are very critical and very honest."

Mendes is also said to play an integral role, with Gosling telling Extra in 2024 that his partner is a major support behind the scenes.

"She is with the girls, and when she works, I stay home with the girls too," Gosling explained. "She's also like my acting coach. She has really become the best acting coach I have ever had. It's endless how she helps me."

This is not the first time that Gosling has spoken about his family's influence on his work. In fact, in 2024 the Barbie actor revealed that he has become more selective about roles since becoming a father, moving away from playing dark, edgy characters for the sake of his children.

"I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place,” Gosling explained to WSJ Magazine. “This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us.”

The Fall Guy is loosely based on the '80s TV series of the same name, which was created by American TV producer and writer Glen A. Larson and starred Lee Majors, who makes a cameo in the 2024 movie as a police officer.

The Fall Guy TV series ran from 1981 to 1986 for five seasons and is now widely regarded as a classic '80s show, dubbed "one of the best shows and best theme songs (sung by Lee Majors himself) in all of television history," by one reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes, who claims "it still stands the test of time, forty years later".

Ryan Gosling studied the original series before taking on the role of Colt Seavers 2.0 and also met with original series actor Lee Majors. Adrian Horton at the Guardian praises how the movie shines a spotlight on the stunt world, calling it "an utterly charming, unpretentious rebuttal to the encroachment of digital effects in life and film". She also calls it "a celebration of blockbuster movies and their illusions of grandeur made by dozens and dozens of people working in concert, mostly below the line, and specifically the under-appreciated work of stunt doubles".

While Kelechi Ehenulo for Empire calls it a "gloriously entertaining comedy", before asking "How do we live in a time where the Academy still hasn’t recognised Hollywood’s stunt community with an Oscar category?"

After the Oscars this weekend, Eva shared a photo of herself wearing the sparkly pink blazer and black cowboy hat that Ryan wore during his performance. She captioned the photo: "You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed."

Many eagled eyed fans also noticed that at the end of the song, Ryan sweetly kissed his Barbie 'E' necklace, something he wore during throughout the film's press tour last summer as a sweet nod to his wife.

There was no shortage of A-listers in Los Angeles this weekend with the 96th Academy Awards coaxing the likes of Emma Stone, Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence to the Dolby Theatre to watch John Cena sidewalk naked across the stage and Ryan Gosling sing I'm Just Ken in a sparkly pink suit. It was, naturally, a night to remember, but the celebrities really let their hair down at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party in Beverly Hills after the ceremony. 

The red carpet is an event in itself, with the biggest names in the industry zipping into a second look before partying the night away. It's also where a lot of eagle-eyed celeb spotters notice details about the dalliances among Hollywood's elite - and this year, the focus was on Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter. 

The rumoured couple were first linked in December, and fans were expecting the pair to walk the red carpet together at the Golden Globes. However, it wasn't until the Grammys in February that the Saltburn star and the Feather singer were photographed together - albeit in a fairly neutral pose, with Barry and Sabrina covering their faces. 

But while neither party has confirmed that they're an item, Barry's behaviour on the Vanity Fair Oscars party red carpet isn't convincing that they're not. In a clip that has since gone viral on social media, Barry can be seen moving from photo spot to photo spot, and as the photographers are attempting to direct him and get his attention, he keeps looking back at Sabrina, who was next in line. 

One fan shared a clip of the exchange on TikTok, and you can clearly see Barry finding it impossible to take his eyes off of the singer. He mouths 'oh my God' as he spots her, and when he realises that he can't focus, he says: "Sorry, I'm distracted."

Fans have been quick to share their thoughts on the interaction, with one commenting on the video: "He said 'omg' he's in love."

Another person wrote on X: "The way Barry Keoghan can't look away from Sabrina Carpenter makes my standards even higher."

A third said: "I need a man obsessed with me as much as Barry Keoghan is with Sabrina Carpenter."

Ryan Gosling parodies Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

You'd have thought he'd be sick of it by now, but it seems that pink (and diamonds) are Ryan Gosling's best friend. 

In what was arguably the best part of the 96th Academy Awards, Ryan Gosling reprised his role of Ken (at this point, they are basically one and the same) to parody Marilyn Monroe's saccharine song in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. 

Wearing a custom Gucci suit in Pepto-Bismol pink studded with glittering gems, Gosling swaggered (and yes, there was a little sashaying, too) down the magenta steps in reference to one of Old Hollywood's crowning moments, complete with Busby Berkeley-esque choreography. Earlier in the evening, Gosling nodded to the razzmatazz that was to come in another custom Gucci suit dusted with bejewelled piping. 

Marilyn might have been right when she whispered, "And we all lose our charms in the end," but Ryan Gosling will always be more than Kenough. 

Margot Robbie has her own moment

Ryan Gosling wasn’t the only star to reference Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Our very own Barbie echoed Jane Russell’s sinuous squid-ink sequined gown and even got herself a Marilyn to match her Jane. Now that is dedication to theme.

Later, at the Vanity Fair after-party, Margot changed into a gilded Mugler corset, which I couldn’t help but think (read: fantasise) was another nod to Howard Hawkes’ frothy film for all us Classic Hollywood nerds, we see you, Margot!

There’s been a noticeable rise in corsetry on the red carpet, and at the awards season’s closing party, stars pulled out all the stops and poured themselves into figure-cinching gowns.

Emma Stone opted for a mint silk cloqué jacquard column gown with a boned bustier and crinoline-style peplum, which played to her character, Bella Baxter.

Refreshingly, unlike in the era of classic cinema, today, the trend is being adopted by a range of beautiful body types. Hollywood is far from perfect when it comes to projecting body ideals, but stars like the sublime Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Danielle Brooks prove that you don’t need a super-snatched shape to take on any trend.

Awards season is in full swing and with the SAG awards taking place this evening, Hollywood stars are descending from far and wide on the LA red carpet to celebrate the past year in television and film.

One of the most nominated films at the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild award ceremony is Barbie, with the cult classic receiving nods for Best Actress (Margot Robbie), Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling), Best Cast and Best Stunt Ensemble.

And with the star-studded Barbie cast expected to be front and centre this evening, news of Barbie Easter eggs, special meanings behind scenes and America Ferrera's viral speech have of course resurfaced.

The most talked-about Barbie news this evening however is of course related to its casting, with two A-listers recently reported to have originally been cast in the film.

Yes, while the record breaking film had a knockout ensemble of Emerald Fennell, Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa, Ncuti Gatwa, America Ferrera and Helen Mirren to name a few, there were several other A-listers who were originally cast. And from Amy Schumer and Timothée Chalamet to Saoirse Ronan and Anne Hathaway, we're talking major Hollywood names.

The most recent A-listers in question? Olivia Colman and Ben Affleck.

Helen Mirren, the film's narrator, broke the news of Olivia Colman's cameo in a recent interview with Variety, explaining that there were originally supposed to be two narrators, with Colman's scene ultimately being scrapped.

“It was a very funny scene with Olivia Colman sort of playing drunk and us clashing about who is the real grande dame of British actresses,” Mirren explained. “She comes in and tries to take over the role of the narrator and I had to fight her off.”

Ben Affleck's almost cameo however was revealed by Michael Cera, who played Ken's best friend Alan in the film.

Opening up about his fight scene on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cera revealed that he wasn't originally supposed to act that scene, adding: “It was supposed to be Ben Affleck. Am I allowed to say that?”

“Ben wanted to do it”, Cera explained, but reportedly had to pull out due to scheduling conflicting with his 2023 film, Air.

In just a few short weeks, the biggest names in Hollywood will gather at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 96th Academy Awards. The Oscars 2024 nominations list includes some familiar films and faces, with Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon sweeping up at the Golden Globes and the Baftas, while Cillian Murphy and Emma Stone have already pocketed some big wins. 

However, the nominations list wasn't without controversy this year. Many noted that Barbie - Greta Gerwig's record-breaking movie of last summer - was notably absent from the Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role categories. While Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and the movie has been nominated for Best Picture, fans felt let down that Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig did not receive individual nods. Following the nominations announcement, Ryan even released a statement noting that he was disappointed his colleagues weren't personally recognised, and Margot later responded to the backlash. 

During an interview with Deadline, she said: "There's no way to feel sad when you know you're this blessed. Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films."

And it seems that Greta shares a similar sentiment. Although she was thrilled with the nominations Barbie did receive, she admits she 'wanted it for Margot'. In an interview with Time magazine, Greta said: "A friend's mum said to me, 'I can’t believe you didn’t get nominated.' I said, 'But I did. I got an Oscar nomination.' She was like, 'Oh, that's wonderful for you!' I was like, 'I know!'

"Of course I wanted it for Margot. But I’m just happy we all get to be there together."

The Oscars 2024 will take place on 10th March at 11pm GMT. 

As the 77th British Academy Film Awards took place in London this evening, celebrities from across the globe walked down the Baftas red carpet and watched the likes of Cillian Murphy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Mia McKenna-Bruce earn their way onto the Baftas 2024 winners list. 

The guest list included the Prince of Wales - who made an unexpected comment about wife Kate's absence this year - as well as some of the biggest names in Hollywood; Ryan Gosling, Florence Pugh and Cate Blanchett were among the A-listers lining the seats in the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre.

At some recent award shows, cameras have managed to capture the celebrities interacting with one another. At the Golden Globes just last month, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were given the lip reader treatment after their cute PDA, and Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez went viral after they were seen animatedly telling one another stories.

But now Margot Robbie and Emma Stone have taken the title for best celebrity expressions as the pair were photographed gossiping on the red carpet ahead of the Baftas ceremony - and the picture are brilliant. As Margot and Emma caught up, the Poor Things actor can be seen gasping at whatever the Barbie star has told her, holding her necklace as she listens intently to the story, and widening her eyes. 

The hilarious photos have quickly gone viral on social media, with fans of the pair weighing in on what they may have been talking about.

Yes, really. The film may have come out six months ago, but it's just as much talked about now as it was then - from hidden Easter eggs to Barbie's original casting.

This is particularly true of Ryan Gosling. In fact, as we get deeper into award season, Gosling's name is becoming increasingly more popular, with the 43-year-old actor nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of the male doll and even rumoured to perform at the Academy Awards with his Oscar-nominated song, 'I'm Just Ken'.

Yes, Barbie has turned Ryan Gosling into a cultural icon, and his portrayal is sure to stand the test of time. But according to reports, Gosling's Ken very nearly didn't happen, with the actor originally passing on the role.

This is something that Gosling opened up about this week in an interview with Variety, recalling that he had scheduling conflicts and wasn't sure that he was the right person for the job. But after some heavy persuading from producer Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig, he came around.

“He absolutely passed,” recalled Robbie. “We just couldn’t let that happen. There was just no other version. Greta and I are both extremely determined and persistent people, otherwise this movie never would have happened. Every time he’s like, ‘I’m not doing this,’ we were like, ‘We are doing it, and it’s going to be fun.’”

“Eventually, I thought, ‘Who am I to argue with Greta Gerwig and Margot?’", Gosling recalled. "They had a vision for it. They believed it. And they believed I should do it more than I believed I shouldn’t. At a certain point, I thought, ‘They see something that I don’t see.’ I thought it was such a great part that anyone could play it. I understand now, but it took me a while.”

A Barbie without Ryan Gosling? We couldn't imagine it!

Ryan Gosling is undoubtedly the most talked-about man of the moment, with his knockout performance in Barbie still making him headline news. In fact, from his subsequent Oscar nod and possible 'I'm Just Ken' Academy Awards performance, to his viral statement following Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie's snubs, the 43-year-old is all anyone can talk about.

It is Gosling's rare words about his family that have made the most headlines this past few months however, with the actor and his partner Eva Mendes, who share two daughters, known to be extremely private.

This week, in an interview with Variety, Gosling reflected on his four year break from acting back in 2018, explaining that it was to focus on fatherhood, and to spend time with his children, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7.

“Just to be with my family," Gosling explained of his decision. "I didn’t want to miss anything. My priorities changed, and I wanted to be with my kids."

He continued: "It’s going super fast. I hear the clock ticking. I don’t know how much time I’m going to get, and I don’t want to spend it in the wrong place. I know I’m not spending it in the wrong place if I’m with my family.”

This comes after another rare comment by Gosling earlier this year, when he was honoured with the Kirk Douglas Award for excellence in film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

When reflecting on the highlights of his career, Gosling announced: "most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children.

"I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream," he later concluded. "The way I see it, there's no way I've contributed to cinema as much as cinema has contributed to me."

Well, this is lovely.

Awards season is well underway, and just a few weeks ago the Oscars nominations were finally announced. While the dominating films were largely expected - Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon - the Barbie nominations caused quite a stir. 

The film has been nominated for 8 awards in total, but Margot Robbie missed out on a Best Actress nod and director Greta Gerwig didn't make the shortlist for Best Director. However, Ryan Gosling - whose sublime performance as Ken did not go unnoticed - has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, as well as Best Original Song for I'm Just Ken. 

The nominees in this musical category usually perform on the night, meaning that Barbie fans have been waiting for confirmation that Ryan will be donning his white fur coat, headband and pointed sunnies for a live rendition of the song. But you might not want to get your hopes up just yet.

In an interview with Variety, Ryan explained that he wouldn't say no to a Ken spectacular at the Academy Awards next month, stating: "I still have not been asked. It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it."

When asked what it would take for him to release his Kenergy on the biggest night in Hollywood, he said that they would 'need a budget' to make the magic happen. He also went on to reveal just how demanding the role actually was. 

He continued: "In some way, everything I've done led to it. And I can't believe I'm saying that. There were moments when I would do it where I'd think, 'I haven’t felt like I've worked this hard since Blue Valentine.'

"There were moments when I left Blue Valentine just completely emotionally spent, laying on the floor of the car on the ride home just done – empty. And it was even harder to play Ken. And I thought, 'How am I feeling that on this film?'"

The 96th Academy Awards takes place on 10th March 2024 at 11pm GMT.

Eva Mendes has come to Ryan Gosling's defence following his Oscars nomination for best supporting actor in Barbie.

If you're wondering why an A-lister actor needed defending in the first place, it's because people reacted quite weirdly to Ryan's casting as the principal Ken in last summer's blockbuster. Some felt he was too old for the role, and others didn't love his transformation into the plastic doll, and journalists made these opinions known via a slew of articles at the time.

As such, Eva took to Instagram to share a bunch of screenshots of critical articles after the Oscars noms were announced, writing, "So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious,heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars.

"So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie"

In the comments, celebs including Bella Thorne, Hannah Waddingham and Padma Lakshmi backed Eva up.

Importantly, Ryan's Barbie costar America Ferrera, who was also nominated for her role, commented: "He is brilliant as Ken! Pulled off a triple somersault performance! We’re so lucky it was him and I’m so grateful for the way he showed up with his super stardom, and continues to show up to support all the women in this process!! He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented."

Tempering Ryan's celebration over being nominated is also the uproar over Barbie director Greta Gerwig and star/producer Margot Robbie being "snubbed" in their respective categories.

The Ken actor even issues a statement expressing his disappointment, writing: "No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I'm disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement."

As for Eva and Ryan, who are a typically discreet celeb couple, they've been expressing their support for each other a bit more loudly in recent weeks, and it's been lovely to see.

It caused outrage online from fans of the film who were shocked that two of the key players behind Barbie - which was both a box office hit, raking in $1.4bn globally, and a cultural phenomenon -  were not recognised for their work, with one person on X (formerly Twitter) explaining: "Greta Gerwig made a film that was critically acclaimed, culturally impactful, hilarious, unique, visually exceptional, perfectly cast and acted, left people laughing, crying and thinking AND made a billion dollars at the box office. But no Best Director nom."

Now, Ryan Gosling has called out his colleagues' Oscars snub in a statement, writing: "I am extremely honoured to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honoured and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.

"But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.

"Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognised along with the other very deserving nominees. Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film."

Co-star America Ferrera also expressed her disappointment in an interview with Variety, explaining: "Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list."

She added: "What Margot achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable. One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy, but Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen, and it was one of the honours of my career to get to witness her pull off the amazing performance she did."

Barbie is undoubtedly the film of the past year, literally breaking box office records. 

And as the iconic feminist blockbuster dominates award season - seeing big wins at the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards, the star-studded movie is all anyone can talk about.

Gosling did explain however that his daughters had seen part of his performance, even visiting him on set with Eva Mendes for the filming of 'I'm Just Ken'.

“They’ve seen little parts of it," he explained. "And they came to set one day when I did a big musical number.

“[It] was a way to sort of make something both for and with them,” he later said. “I knew that they loved it because they kept saying at first, ‘Hey, can we go to Target?’ And then we’d go to Target, and they’d slowly go by the Barbie aisle...but [they had] no interest in Ken, which was pretty interesting.”

Later that evening, Gosling made a rare comment about Eva and their daughters on stage, as he was honoured with the prestigious Kirk Douglas Award for excellence in film.

"I, for one, have been so lucky. I’ve gotten to go to the moon, be a motorcycle bank robber, a getaway driver, waltz through the stars, be an elementary school teacher - albeit a crack-addicted one - become a replicant from the future, a gangster from the past, a lovelorn stunt man, and most recently, thanks to Greta, a 70-year-old crotchless doll," he told the audience.

"Most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children. I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream."

The star-studded film sees Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling lead as Barbie and Ken, with an absolute knockout supporting ensemble. We're talking Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Emerald Fennell, Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa and Helen Mirren to name but a few.

The casting is inspired, but with the project having been in the works for over seven years, and changing hands multiple times, it has been a process. In fact, the movie is completely unrecognisable from its original concept, with a different director, writer, plot and cast. 

Greta Gerwig signed onto the project in 2021, after Warner Bros. took on the concept (it had previously been optioned by Universal Pictures, and then Sony). And Margot Robbie only came onboard in 2019, with a completely different A-lister originally supposed to play the titular character.

The original Barbie in question? Amy Schumer. 

Schumer was originally cast as Barbie back in 2016 when the film was a completely different project, co-written by Schumer herself. But she walked away from the film months later citing "scheduling conflicts".

She later explained however that she actually stepped away from the project due to a difference in vision.

"They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it,” Schumer explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

The difference in vision reportedly involved Barbie's job, with Schumer writing Barbie as an inventor. But when the studio reportedly wanted Barbie's invention to be a pair of high heels made of jelly, or "Jell-O", Schumer was reportedly concerned.

The nail in the coffin was supposedly a gift from the studio after Schumer was formally announced as Barbie, with the actor receiving a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels as a surprise.

The gesture however didn't sit well with Schumer who reportedly didn't like "the idea that that’s just what every woman must want". Ultimately Schumer walked away from the project, recalling: "Right there, I should have gone, ‘You’ve got the wrong gal.’"

Well that's that.

Celeb spouses Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling honestly could not be a better match — especially when it comes to their shared sense of humour. In case you missed it, Ryan won a Critics' Choice Award on Sunday for his song "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie soundtrack, but it's his reaction to the announcement that has caused him to go viral.

When he heard that he had won, Ryan was filmed looking utterly surprised and confused, treating us to a facial expression that has since (obviously) become something of a meme.

While a lot of people just thought the actor's reaction was hilarious, others thought that perhaps he thought it was wrong or ironic that he — a man — would win this award based on the Barbie movie, which criticised gender dynamics in modern life.

In particular, there is a bit of irony to this award, considering the song's chorus, which goes: "'Cause I'm just Ken / Anywhere else, I'd be a ten / Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blond fragility? / I'm just Ken / Where I see love, she sees a friend / What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan and fight for me?" (But we have to admit the song IS a banger.)

One person tweeted: "Movie made by women for women. Man wins the award."

Another said: "He’s questioning if anyone actually watched the movie," while another quipped: "Ryan Gosling is 100% a girl’s girl."

Meanwhile, Ryan's wife and fellow superstar Eva Mendes posted a reaction gif of him from the awards ceremony on Instagram, captioning it: "I LOVE HIM!!!!"

One fan wrote: "Eva you are the queen of his heart but I gotta say…..he’s all of our husband now."

Incredible stuff.

Awards season is in full swing, and with the Emmy awards taking place last night, there has been a lot to celebrate and discuss - from the winner's list to Jennifer Coolidge's iconic acceptance speech. 

It is the weekend's Critics' Choice Awards however that is still making the most headlines, seeing Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Barbie emerge as the big winners of the evening.

Barbie took home six Critics' Choice Awards, bagging the gongs for best original screenplay, best production design, best costume design, best hair and makeup and best song for 'I'm Just Ken' - an accolade that left Ryan Gosling speechless.

It was the film's win for 'best comedy' that made the most news, with Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig giving an unexpected speech - with the surprise factor making the moment go viral.

The recipient of the best comedy award doesn't traditionally give a speech at the Critics' Choice Awards, but Chelsea Handler, who was hosting the ceremony, chose to "go rogue" inviting Robbie and Gerwig on stage to say an impromptu few words.

“I’m gonna go rogue because Greta and Margot deserve the opportunity to make an acceptance speech,” Chelsea Handler announced to the audience. “Would you mind coming up and accepting the award?”

“Thank you, Chelsea. We love you so much,” Robbie announced, after they had taken to the stage to accept the award. “You know, when everyone is like ‘Oh, this is so unexpected'. This is actually unexpected and was not a part of the show. We were very grateful nonetheless and I’d like Greta to talk."

Gerwig continued: "We were excited in our chairs and it's nice to be up here. Thank you to everyone that helped make this movie. I laughed so hard every day between almost every take because of our beautiful cast - Margot and Ryan and America and everybody who got to be as brilliant as they are.

"Thank you Mattel for letting us take their beloved icon and make something so unhinged, and thank you Warner Bros. for standing behind us every step of the way. And thank you to Noah Baumbach. We just wanted to make each other laugh and we're so happy that we made the world laugh too."

Well, this is lovely. 

Last summer, Barbie fever well and truly gripped the globe. Whether it was the nostalgic Barbiecore fashion,  Ryan Gosling's sublime improvised lines or the clever storytelling, it was a huge hit and broke a number of records, going on to become the highest-grossing film by a female director. 

But one of the most relatable scenes for many viewers was America Ferrera's passionate speech about the challenges of womanhood. Her character Gloria states 'it is literally impossible to be a woman', going to explain the expectations faced by women across the world, and it resonated with many.

At the Critics Choice Awards last night, America was awarded the SeeHer Award - an achievement honouring those who advocate for gender equality and portray characters who push boundaries - for her role in the Barbie movie. Her co-star Margot Robbie introduced her, saying: "She is an artist and an activist. She tells us the truth and asks us to reach for something more in the world and in our in ourselves. She deserves to be celebrated."

During her acceptance speech, America Ferrera discussed the importance of representation and shared her own experience of growing up wanting 'desperately... to be a part of a storytelling legacy that I could not see myself reflected in'.

She said: "Of course, I could feel myself in characters who were strong and complex. But these characters rarely, if ever, looked like me. I yearned to see people like myself on screen as full humans. When I started working over 20 years ago, it seemed impossible that anyone could make a career portraying fully dimensional Latina characters but because of writers, directors, producers and executives who are daring enough to rewrite outdated stories and to challenge deeply entrenched biases, I, and some of my beloved Latina colleagues, have been supremely blessed to bring to life some fierce and fantastic women."

She continued: "Because of that, we have had the chance to bring through some deeply layered Latina characters and characters that I could not have seen growing up. But now I can see her, and I see her expanding in the next generation of talent like my beloved Ariana Greenblatt, who plays my daughter in Barbie, and in Jenna Ortega and in Selena Gomez and in so many more out there."

America concluded by saying: "Black, brown, Indigenous, Asian, trans, disabled, any body type, any gender. We are all worthy of having our lives richly and authentically reflected."

Awards season is in full swing, and with the 2024 Golden Globes taking place last weekend, and the 2024 Critics' Choice Awards and Emmy awards taking place this week, there is a lot to celebrate.

This is particularly true for Ryan Gosling, who has picked up Best Supporting Actor nominations across the board for his iconic role of Ken in Barbie, even tipped for an Oscar nod.

This weekend, Gosling was honoured with a very prestigious gong, taking home the Kirk Douglas Award for excellence in film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. And as the 43-year-old took to the stage, he paid a very special tribute to his loved ones, role models and idols.

"It's hard to imagine being at a point in my career where I'm standing up here tonight. It's hard to feel deserving of all of this, but I remind myself that the proceeds go to a wonderful cause so it doesn't really matter if I deserve it or not," Gosling announced. "It's just that it's Kirk Douglas. He's one of the first true icons of cinema. He is completely and utterly in the class of his own, and I’m just Ken?"

He continued: "I, for one, have been so lucky. I’ve gotten to go to the moon, be a motorcycle bank robber, a getaway driver, waltz through the stars, be an elementary school teacher - albeit a crack-addicted one - become a replicant from the future, a gangster from the past, a lovelorn stunt man, and most recently, thanks to Greta, a 70-year-old crotchless doll.” 

His most talked-about words however were those about his partner, Eva Mendes, who he met on A Place Beyond The Pines in 2011, and with whom he shares daughters, Esmerelda and Amada.

"Most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children," Gosling told the audience.

"I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream," he later concluded. "The way I see it, there's no way I've contributed to cinema as much as cinema has contributed to me."

Well, this is lovely.

Awards season is in full swing, and it has been a huge year for the likes of Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon. There were also some big celeb moments at the Golden Globes last month (ahem, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez gossiping) and we even managed to catch up with Mia McKenna-Bruce at the BAFTAs.

But when it comes to the nominations at each ceremony, it's fair to say there has been quite a lot of feedback. There was a lot of online outrage at the lack of Barbie nods at the Academy Awards this year, and Ryan Gosling even released a statement about it. However, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards - which celebrates the very best in both film and TV - movie film has received a number of nominations. 

So who is set to go home with the coveted SAG Award trophy this year? The ceremony is set to take place on Saturday 24th February at 8pm EST (Sunday 25th February 1am GMT) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. In the nominations list, there are of course nods to the films mentioned above, as well as Maestro, The Color Purple and American Fiction. In the television categories, The Bear, Succession and The Last of Us are up for various accolades. 

With so many excellent films and shows in the nominations, there's everything to play for. Here's a rundown of the 2024 SAG nominations...

Barbie fever is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. In fact, Greta Gerwig's movie hit the $1 billion mark in global box office ticket sales this weekend - making it the highest grossing film by a female director. 

Despite the backlash and trolling from conservative critics, the Barbie movie has gone on to score an impressive positivity rating with audiences and undeniably sparked an important cultural moment - from the resilience of the Barbiecore fashion trend to America Ferrera's powerful speech.

As well as trivia from behind the scenes - like the fact that Ryan Gosling's funniest line was actually improvised - fans have found themselves incredibly interested in the iconic doll's backstory. 

During the film, viewers are introduced to the creator of Barbie, Ruth Handler, who explains what she hoped for when she brought the doll to girls across the globe. With over 200 jobs under her belt, Handler hoped that Barbie would empower young girls to believe that they really could do whatever they wanted with their lives.

We've also gone on to learn so much about one of Mattel's best-selling toys since the film was released - including why she never got married or had children. 

But Ken's character also got his fair share of the limelight in the movie, and Ryan Gosling's portrayal has won the beach-loving boy a legion of his own fans. 

However, many of them have been shocked to find out that he does actually have a surname. And not just a surname - a middle name, too. 

That's right - he's boasting a whole host of monikers.

Handler had named the Barbie doll after her daughter, Barbara, and it turns out that Ken was named after her son, Kenneth. 

In fact, the doll's full name is Kenneth Sean Carson.

While Barbie was first released in 1959, Ken was introduced two years later in 1961. 

Sharing their surprise on Twitter, one fan wrote: "His full name is KENNETH SEAN CARSON. I’m done for the day."

Another added: "I was today years old when I learned that #barbie boo thang #ken actually has a full name." 

So he's not 'just Ken' after all. 

Barbie is in cinemas now. 

Barbie had the world on tenterhooks in the months leading up to its release, and now it has hit the big screens it is fair to say that everyone is obsessed. 

From the epic costumes, affordable jewellery brands and simple beauty hacks Margot Robbie followed, to Ryan Gosling's surprising vocals, dance moves and witty one liners, it has well and truly taken over.  

But, there's more. 

Ryan continued his Ken-ergy off-screen to celebrate Barbie director Greta Gerwig's 40th birthday with a surprise flash mob to interrupt her Pilates class. 

A video was shared on the official Barbie movie Instagram account to document the moment, and it's the joy you didn't know you needed. 

The post was captioned: "As Kens know… Sometimes the only way to express your feelings is through song & dance!

"Ken Ryan sent these special Barbies and Kens to start Greta’s birthday with all the feelings!! @bookaflashmob @heymarkavery."

The upload has racked up over 60,000 likes on the photo sharing site, as well as plenty of praise from fellow social media users. 

One commented: "This movie has reached legendary status."

Another added: "Ryan always the same off set and on! Sweetest soul ever making birthdays the best."

While a third shared: "This movie is going to [make] history!!"

In the footage, Greta can be seen on a Pilates table, before a group of dancers - some channelling their Barbie energy in pink ensembles - strutted into the class. 

As Ken's solo track I'm Just Ken began to play, the dance troop perfected the choreography in the Barbie movie before Dua Lipa's Dance The Night Away blared from the speakers - which saw even more dancers flood through the doors to nail the routine. 

In the background Greta could be heard giggling and saying, "Oh my god!" in shock.

By the end of the video, the creative mastermind was in tears and overjoyed with the surprise birthday gift, though she wasn't sure who arranged the treat.

"That was so beautiful," Greta praised, before she quizzed: "Who are you?"

But a voice behind the camera posed a question to Greta, and said: "Guess who planned this?", to which Greta replied, "I have no idea!"

Not to give the game away too soon, the mystery voice hinted "Think of a bagpiper", which is an inside joke with those on set and a nod to 42-year-old Ryan.

It has previously been reported Greta organised a sleepover for the Barbie cast, and while Ryan - who has daughters Esmeralda and Amada with Eva Mendes - wasn't able to attend, he sent a man to play the bagpipes to entertain slumber party guests.

Sublime.

After months of anticipation, the Barbie movie finally landed in cinemas last month - and the excitement has yet to show signs of slowing down. 

Everything about it has become a talking point. The fashion sparked the Barbiecore movement, but fans are also noticing that there's one particular designer that is featured throughout. The brilliantly powerful speech from America Ferrera is resonating with millions of women across the globe. And apparently Margot Robbie has some feelings about the fact she didn't kiss Ryan Gosling in the movie. 

And while there are some excellent moments throughout the two hours of all things pink, plastic and fantastic (ahem, the Kens war dance) there's one small moment that has blown up on social media. 

In one scene, Barbie returns to her Dreamhouse - where Ken has now taken over the pad and made it his own mojo dojo casa house - in order to talk to him about his takeover of Barbieland. At one point, he leaves her at the saloon front doors to stand behind a wall and spontaneously shouts: "Sublime!"

During an interview with The Associated Press, Margot revealed that the line wasn't actually in the script - and that Ryan improvised what has since become one of the film's funniest moments.

She explained: "There are a lot of things that Ryan did that were like spur of the moment. He made people cry with laughter multiple multiple times in this film."

Margot also added that the scene where he wears two pairs of sunglasses at once also came to him in the moment. 

Fans online have called it one of 'the funniest part of the movie', and we have to agree.

Barbie fever has well and truly swept the globe. It finally hit cinemas on Friday, but in the months ahead of its release - and in the days that have followed - it seems to be all anyone can talk about. 

Whether it's the Barbiecore trend bringing fuchsia fashion to offices and ODEONs everywhere, or the fact that Greta Gerwig made history by having the biggest opening weekend ever for a female director (with the film grossing an estimated $155 million, no less), it seems that the Barbie chatter is seeing no signs of dying down. 

As for the movie itself, America Ferrera's powerful speech has gone viral, it has sparked interest into why the iconic doll was never married or pregnant, and Barbie's backstory has had everyone intrigued. 

However, many were surprised to see that - teeny tiny spoiler alter - Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling don't kiss in the film. 

With the Hollywood titans playing the two main characters, fans assumed that the pair would share a peck on screen. Alas, it doesn't quite manifest. 

And it seems that Margot's friends were equally as shocked that she didn't kiss the A-lister - and Margot herself was kind of disappointed, too. 

Talking to People, she explained that her pals couldn't believe she didn't try and make it happen, and herself admitted: "It didn't feel like a win for me."

Margot joked: "All of my girlfriends were like, 'Well, you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!'

"I was like, 'I know, I can’t check that one off.'"

But Ryan, who was also part of the same interview, shared his own thoughts on the lack of lip locking. 

He said: "It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be. I’m so glad all of that got cut out."

Well, that's that!

The highly anticipated Barbie movie stars loads of super famous people playing the characters of Barbie and her boyfriend Ken, but if that wasn't confusing enough already two of these Barbies are also always getting confused for each other in real life.

The resemblance between Margot Robbie and Emma Mackey has been pointed out many a time, so much so that Margot and Barbie director Greta Gerwig apparently really wanted to allude to it in the film — but it didn't make the cut in the end.

Margot and her costar Ryan Gosling recently appeared in a BuzzFeed segment during which they got to answer questions while playing with some adorable puppies, and the Suicide Squad star addressed this all head-on.

"I've been getting told for years that I look like the girl from Sex Education, who is Emma Mackey. And she plays one of the Barbies in the movie, pretty much because Greta and I thought it would be funny," Margot explained.

She continued: "We were gonna do this whole joke about us looking similar and how..."

Then, she paused to ask Ryan: "Did you know this?" to which he replied: "I did not know this."

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out after all.

"And then once we got all dressed up as our Barbies, we were kind of like, we don't actually look that similar," Margot explained.

"Like when she's got her brown hair and I've got my blonde hair, we don't look that similar, so we didn't put that joke in the movie. But when people come up and say: 'I loved you in Sex Education,' I just say: 'Thank you. Thank you so much.'"

Thankfully, by the looks of it, there are still loads of jokes left in the final cut of the film, which premieres on Friday 21st July.

The world is waiting in anticipation for the release of Barbie, a live-action movie about the iconic Mattel doll, directed and co-written by Oscar nominated Greta Gerwig. 

And with less that a fortnight until the UK release, Barbie has to be the most talked-about film of the year already. 

This is in part down to the film's star-studded cast, with Ryan Gosling, the Ken to Margot Robbie's Barbie making the most news. 

Today, the latest trailer for the Barbie movie dropped - a music video starring Ryan Gosling called "I'm Just Ken" - and unsurprisingly, it has now gone viral. 

The music video sees Ken (played by Gosling) struggling in Barbie's shadow, alongside emotional lyrics and some choreographed dance numbers.

"Doesn't seem to matter what I do, I'm always number two," sings Gosling in the exclusive video. "No one knows how hard I've tried, oh I have feelings that I can't explain, driving me insane.

"All my life been so polite, cause I'm just Ken. Anywhere else I'd be a ten. Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility?"

The song continues: "I'm just Ken. Where I see love she sees a friend. What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan. And fight for me?

"I'm just Ken, I am enough. And I'm great at doing stuff. So hey check me out, yeah I'm just Ken. Baby I'm just Ken."

This is not the first time that the 42-year-old has spoken out about Ken's struggles, opening up about the character in response to the #NotMyKen backlash earlier this year. 

"If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told," Ryan Gosling told GQ, explaining how Ken has often been overlooked.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he later added: "Nobody plays with Ken, man. They never played with Ken. He’s an accessory and not even one of the cool ones.”

This includes Gosling's daughters, whose disrespect for their Ken doll was the final push that prompted the actor to take the role.

“I walk out in the backyard and, do you know where I found Ken, Jimmy?" Gosling recalled to Jimmy Fallon of the moment after Gerwig had offered him the role. "He was face down in the mud next to a squished lemon.”

He went on to explain that he took a photograph of the scene and sent it to Gerwig as his acceptance, with the message: "I shall be your Ken, for this story must be told."

Barbie is set for release on 21 July 2023.

Believe it or not, it has been four years since the world found out that a Barbie movie was coming. The upcoming film, with Greta Gerwig at the helm, was announced in 2019 - so it's fair to say that excitement has been building. 

With Margot Robbie as the titular character and Ryan Gosling as her plastic fantastic boyfriend Ken, it was always destined to get a lot of attention. Add to that the excellent photos of the actors rollerskating in neon unitards and the fact that the details have been kept securely under wraps until now and you've got a recipe for Barbiecore mega excitement. 

So when the trailer for the Barbie movie was released this week and we were finally given a sneak peak into Barbie Land, it's fair to say that fans were into it. 

With a cast that includes a healthy handful of Sex Education stars - think Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells - as well as the likes of Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan, popstar Dua Lipa, icon Dame Helen Mirren and Stath Lets Flats Jamie Demetriou, it's a meeting of Hollywood darlings and British telly favourites in a bright and candy coloured dream. 

While plot details are still thin on the ground, fans have started to piece things together for themselves - and they're already coming up with some interesting theories. 

On the Barbie movie account's Twitter post, users shared how they think things will pan out in the fictional world. 

One wrote: "The fact that they’ve shown very little plot makes me feel like there’s a very big twist that’s gonna rock our world."

Another added: "They gave nothing away about the plot, I’m assuming they end up in the real world, somewhere in LA."

Someone else added a theory to the mix, writing: "Best horror film of 2023?"

One fan went so far as to claim: "Lives have definitely changed."

Quite possibly. It looks fantastic, and no judgement if you'll be booking Friday 21st July off work to celebrate.

Since the first look photos of Margot Robbie as Barbie were released earlier this year, the world has had an insatiable hunger for all things pink, plucky and plastic (erm, Barbiecore anyone?)

The upcoming romantic comedy directed by Greta Gerwig is set to hit the silver screen next summer, but buzz around the movie has been building since 2019. Starring Margot as the titular character alongside none other than a bleach blonde Ryan Gosling as her boyfriend Ken, details about the plot of the Barbie movie have been extremely scarce - but in June, the world was given a sneak peak.

While Robbie and Gosling were filming scenes at Venice Beach in Los Angeles, the paparazzi managed to get some pictures of them - and, of course, they went viral.

Remember the photos of the pair rollerblading along the street, complete with shocking neon unitards, visors and gilets? Yep, those ones.

While it's certainly a *look* (and one they can both pull off), Robbie revealed that she found the whole thing 'humiliating'.

During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Suicide Squad star revealed that she was 'mortified' by the pictures and how many people saw them in their brights.

She told the host: 'I can’t tell you how mortified we were. We look like we’re laughing and having fun, but we were dying on the inside. I was like, "This is the most humiliating moment of my life."'

Discussing the photos then going viral, she added: 'I mean, I knew we had some exteriors to shoot in LA. I knew ok, once you’re doing exteriors, you’re going to get papped.

'There’s probably going to be a little crowd of people who are going to take notice because we stand out a little in those outfits.

'So I knew there was going to be a little attention, and probably some photos would get out there, but not like it did. It was like mad, it was like hundreds of people watching.'

Barbie is set to hit cinemas in July 2023.

What?!

Remember when Keira Knightley revealed that she has only seen Love Actually once? She admitted that she couldn't remember who her character ended up with, even though that scene with Andrew Lincoln and his cue cards is probably one of the most famous Christmas movie moments of all time.

But it turns out she isn't the only actress who hasn't sat down to watch her own movies. Our A-lister fave, Emma Stone, explained that she has never seen Crazy, Stupid, Love.

The film stars Emma and Ryan Gosling and if you haven't seen it, you've definitely seen the stills (ahem, topless Ryan).

However, as part of Variety's actors interviewing actors series, the Oscar winner told Timothée Chalamet that she never watched the romcom as a result of her own anxiety.

She explained that she felt the pressure of being the lead to such an extent that it stopped her from seeing the finished film.

'I was really in love with that script, but I put so much pressure on myself,' she said.

'I was 20, and while we were shooting it, I was just going nuts and was like, this whole thing could fail. It felt like it had to be well-calibrated throughout, and it was the first time that I had ever had to rely on myself to be able to carry all of that.'

But the actress later said that nowadays, she is able to watch herself onscreen.

Good for her. And we'd recommend catching up on Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Nothing makes us cry like a good Nicholas Sparks film, with The Notebook and a tub of ice cream becoming a staple for any break up survival kit.

There was excitement therefore when it was announced that the 2004 cult romance film would be available on Netflix this year.

Allie and Noah, the lake house, James Marsden in uniform - what's not to be excited about? Well, the ending actually, with fans confused to see that the iconic final scene had been cut.

Yes, while Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) were exactly as we remembered, breaking up then making up post-war in the dream house that he had built her during the 'Why didn't you write me' scene, the actors playing the older Allie and Noah don't quite get the ending we remember.

Gena Rowland and James Garner are known for their heartbreaking scenes, playing the older couple as Allie (Gena) is suffering from dementia and doesn't recognise her husband Noah (James). The film ends with the couple going to sleep in bed together and dying peacefully side by side, something that Netflix has decided to change.

Yes, this is not a drill. Netflix has cut the famous heartbreaking scene, instead ending the film ambiguously with the very much alive couple holding hands.

Given that The Notebook is the film that you go to when you want a good cry, it's hardly surprising that the internet is outraged that the most heartbreaking scene of the film has been removed.

‘If you want to watch The Notebook on Netflix, don’t. They cut the ending,’ tweeted one angry viewer. Another agreed, posting: ‘Why did Netflix change the ending of the notebook? The best part of watching it is having your heart break at the end.’

In the words of Allie, 'WHY? We need to know why!!'

And we totally get it.

With awards season ending just last month, and Ryan Gosling nominated for Best Actor in every ceremony, some found it surprising that his wife, Eva Mendes, didn’t attend any of the shows alongside him.

Eva was absent from the SAG awards, Oscars and Golden Globes – where Ryan snagged himself the Best Actor gong, and credited her in his speech.

‘I’d like to try and thank one person properly,’ Ryan announced to the crowd while picking up his statue, ‘and to say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.

He continued: ‘If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So, sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, I love you. And if I may, I’d like to dedicate this to the memory of her brother, Juan Carlos Mendes.’

Eva has recently explained why she wasn’t there to watch her husband receive his Golden Globe and why she sat the rest of award season out, and it’s pretty understandable.

‘What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,’ Eva explained in an interview with Shape magazine. ‘Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.’

Ryan and Eva have been married since 2011 and have two daughters, two-year-old Esmeralda Amada and 11-month-old Amada Lee.

When talking about getting back in shape since giving birth 11 months ago, Eva explained, ‘In some ways, it’s been more challenging to get back in shape after my second daughter. Yet it’s not as hard as I thought it would be, because I’m always running around with the kids. I never sit down – I’m on the move all day.’

Ryan Gosling was accidentally involved in a proposal as he talked about his new movie, Lost River, at South by Southwest.

Ryan Gosling has been talking about his directoral debut, Lost River, at SXSW 2015. There, at the festival, he found himself part of a marriage proposal.

It all happens in the video below at about 11:30 in. While Gosling and the cast of the new movie, including his girlfriend Eva Mendes, answered questions from the audience, one woman took her chance and asked if she could steal focus for a moment to pop the question to her girlfriend of 11 years.

Ryan was not at all bothered by the interuption, even offering his mic to the woman, who proposed by saying: ''This really wasn't planned... but, my heart started pounding and I couldn't help it.'

'We've been together 11 years and have had many ups and downs,' the woman said as she showed off an open ring box. 'She finally moved here to be with me just a few months ago after two years of being apart. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?'

It's happened. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have had a baby.

Us Weekly is reporting that the couple welcomed a baby girl into the world on Friday 12 September. Apparently, 'multiple sources' have confirmed the news.

In July it was reported that Eva, 40, and Ryan, 33, were expecting a baby together, though, being the ultra private couple that they are, they never actually confirmed it.

Back in February, Eva even laughed off pregnancy rumours after she reportedly refused to go through a security scanner at the airport.

Speaking on the Ellen Degeneres show, she said: 'It's so ridiculous. It all started because I didn't want to go through the scanners at the airport. You know those X-ray scanners, which are really creepy? They basically see you naked, right? And not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it, so I always opt out.'

The stars have been dating since their movie Place Beyond The Pines in 2011.

Is this going to be the most beautiful baby in the world? We think so.

If the rumours are true, and some people (read: most people) are hoping they're not, Eva Mendes is expecting Ryan Gosling's baby.

Today, 200,000 actors, directors and movie fans will arrive in France for the 67th Cannes Film Festival

Today, over 200,000 people will descend on La Croisette for the Cannes Film Festival 2014. But what can we expect? Well, we'll tell you...

1. Ryan Gosling

Yep, that's right. The hottest movie man of them all will be appearing at Cannes 2014 for the premiere of his directorial debut, Lost River (the keener Gosling fans among you may recall it was originally supposed to be called How to Catch a Monster). It's billed as a dark fantasy drama and starring Matt Smith, Saoirse Ronan, Christina Hendricks and is-she-his-girlfriend-or-isn't-she Eva Mendes (prepare for some awks red carpet moments, people). Last year, Gosling's film Only God Forgives was booed and jeered by critics, so we expect he'll be a wee bit nervous. We can help you with that, Gozzie...

2. More Blake Lively? Go on then...

She killed it in Gucci at the Met Ball 2014 and so we were stupidly excited to see Mrs Ryan Reynolds jet into Cannes this morning. She's appearing at the uber-glam French Riviera event as part of her role as a L'Oréal Paris ambassador and we're hoping she'll also join husband Reynolds on the red carpet for the premiere of his movie The Captive becausewe cannot get enough of these type of photos...

We are more than a little bit interested to see what the critics make of this biopic, considering Prince Albert and his sisters, Caroline and Stéphanie, have already accused the film of being innacurate and producer Harvey Weinstein has openly criticised director Olivier Dahan's handling of the material, causing the Weinstein Company temporarily removed the film from its schedule in January. Drama on La Croisette, indeed.

5. Jane Campion is running the show

Director Jane Campion is president of the Cannes film festival jury and is only the 10th woman to be given the prestigious role in the history of the event. She's also the only female winner of the festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or, which she received for The Piano in 1993. Incredible.

6. So much Sofia Coppola

Jane Campion is joined by Sofia Coppola on the jury. A red carpet veteran and always chic, we're really looking forward to a plethora of drool-worthy and suitably elegant looks from Ms Coppola. Expect lashings of Louis Vuitton. We're also hoping she might let slip some details about her upcoming Little Mermaid adaptation.

7. Robert Pattinson (twice) AND Kristen Stewart

R-Patz will come out of hiding to promote not one, but two new films - Map To The Stars and The Rover. We expect him Dior-clad and dashing. In related news, his ex, Kristen Stewart, will also be there (are they on speaking terms? Will they hang out? Will we see them together? Will they rekindle their love? Too many questions) to walk the red carpet for her turn in Clouds of Sils Maria which also stars Juliette Binoche and Chloe Grace Moretz.

8. Brits doing us proud

Mike Leigh’s drama Mr Turner and Ken Loach’s Jimmy’s Hall are both up for the Palme d'Or. Having both won the top prize before (Loach for The Wind that Shakes the Barley in 2006 and Leigh for Secrets & Lies in 1996), those in the know seem to think this could be the year for the Brits.

9. Fashion WILL have a moment

Ryan Gosling may be one of the most famous actors in Hollywood, but the Crazy, Stupid, Love heartthrob says he didn't dream of the A-list lifestyle.

Talking about his hugely successful career, The Notebook actor says fame wasn't always high up on his to-do list. 

Luckily for us, things didn't go completely according to plan.

'I never thought about being a film star,' Ryan Gosling told Spanish newspaper, La Vanguardia. 'But I came further than I ever thought. I have done incredibly well.

'I have had the same manager from the age of 14 and the same agent since I was 16. Now I can repeat and work again with the directors I like.'

Now famed for his big-screen roles in The Place Beyond The Pines and Gangster Squad, the Hollywood crush, who's currently dating Eva Mendes, says he isn't one for Googling himself either.

'I don't read what people said of me on the Internet,' he revealed, insisting he stays offline as much as possible. 'The Internet is like a minefield to me. I just simply don't enter there.'

Cue the sad realisation that we can't tweet Ryan Gosling anytime soon. But we'll always have pictures like this...
