By far the most hotly anticipated show of this Autumn/Winter 2026 edition of Milan Fashion Week? Gucci, of course—former Balenciaga designer Demna's first as artistic director of the storied Italian fashion house, given that he hosted a film premiere to tease his debut 'La Famiglia' collection in lieu of a traditional show last season.

And if already that was so impressively attended by Hollywood hot-shots, one need only imagine the levels of buzz and excitement surrounding what Demna might have up his sleeve for his official first on-schedule moment...

As ever, the Georgian designer delivered in the clout department—and some. For his AW26 Gucci show, Demna took over the imposing Palazzo delle Scintille in Milan, transforming the space into an imagined museum clad with luxurious marble and filled with specially-made replicas of ancient sculptures. The set served to emphasise Gucci's prominence within the Italian cultural canon.

As the designer explained in the show notes: "My vision of Gucci is about the coexistence of heritage and fashion. Here they are not opposites, they are lovers. Gucci only exists when both are in sync, when both nourish each other."

And the calibre of talent on the front row—and the catwalk itself—only served to emphasise his point. Demi Moore, Eva Herzigova, Isabella Ferrari, Romeo Beckham, Madeline Argy, Laura Harrier, Georgina Rodriguez and the Hilton sisters were all in proud attendance, alongside industry icons Donatella Versace, Alessandro Michele and Juergen Teller.

Meanwhile, some of the biggest models of the moment each took their turn on the runway, Emily Ratajkowski, Elsa Hosk, Karlie Kloss, Amelia Gray, Gabbriette and Alex Consani, included. The vibes? Dark, sexy, dramatic, a little bit nostaglic, and seriously Tom Ford-coded.

As for Demna's final, most fabulous flourish, and the ultimate expression of Gucci's star power? Kate Moss closing the show in a glittering black gown with a dramatic back cut-out that extended low enough to reveal a Gucci-logo-topped G-string—an homage to one of Tom Ford's most famous designs for the house, that felt every bit as iconic this time around.

Everyone looks forward to 'Prada day' during Milan Fashion Week—and not just for the guarantee of a star-studded front row, either... No, the much-loved Italian luxury brand remains one of the calendar's undisputed highlights thanks to Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons' innate ability to create really great clothes that real women actually want to wear, free from the performative bells and whistles so often seen elsewhere.

This was precisely the point behind their Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, that was unveiled yesterday and offered a masterclass in practical yet elevated layering that felt distinctly real-world-ready. Featuring just 15 looks and 15 models—Bella Hadid, included—the show saw each appear four times, but with different layers in the spotlight to reflect how one outfit can transform at different moments in the same day.

"Layering is meaningful," explained Miuccia Prada. "Within the collection, pieces are laid over each other, and then taken away—and in that process, our perceptions of the individual garments, the outfits and the women who wear them constantly transform... When pieces are laid over each other and contrasted, they create inherent contradictions. It’s always to express the complexity of life."

And complex though life may be, Prada's AW26 show was proof that with the right tools at your disposal, getting dressed doesn't have to be... All you need is a few hard-working hero pieces and a little creativity—and that's your capsule wardrobe, sorted. Fortunately, the collection itself acted as the perfect blueprint, not just defining how stylish women will be dressing next season, but offering ideas that can be implemented in our daily outfits right now, too.

Below, the five standout items already topping insiders' wish lists following Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2026 show—along with similar pieces to shop now as we count down to the collection’s release.

The Statement Boots

Prada provided a much-needed reminder that sometimes, all you need is fabulous pair of boots to really make an outfit pop—especially when patterned or bright, and styled to contrast with otherwise pared-back greys, blacks and neutrals. Mark my words: this particular pair of acid-yellow, embroidered knee-highs is destined to be one of the must-haves of the season.

The Sporty Jacket

Anoraks, parkas, retro shell jackets and all manner of sporty, technical styles have been enjoying a serious glow-up of late—and ever the brand to bring a dose of practicality to high fashion, Prada was naturally one of the trend's earliest proponents. This season, the brand offered up drawstring-waist parkas in bright primary colours, extravagantly trimmed with fur and layered over elegant, ladylike dresses in a way that felt fresh, cool and functional all at once.

The Earring(s)

Who knew that a single, fabulous, oversize, floral earring could so dramatically elevate an ensemble? Mrs. Prada, that's who! Cue stylish women everywhere investing in anything similar they can find, and leaving the second part of the pair purposefully behind.

The Midi Skirt

The show seemed to say: never underestimate the power of a great skirt, over and over again, and in countless fabulous iterations. The statement midi has been on the rise for a few seasons now, but Prada's jazzy embellished, sheer, and layered styles have cemented the item's status as a 2026 wardrobe must-have. Pair with a plain top or knit, and let the skirt do all the heavy lifting.

The Pink Shirt

The profound desire to own and wear a bright pink shirt wasn't on my 2026 bingo card, but such is the power of Prada. If you're not quite ready to wear one out and proud, allow me to point you in the direction of the catwalk, where just the exaggerated cuff was styled popping out of a jumper or jacket to add a considered and incredibly chic flash of colour.

Maria Grazia Chiuri has a habit of making fashion statements out of, well, statements. At Dior, it was the words of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, "We Should All Be Feminists," a book title which became the ultimate slogan to wear on your T-shirt. So for her first collection as chief creative officer of Fendi, Chiuri had some choice words for ticket-holders, who included Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Dakota Fanning, Yasmin Finney and Song Yuqi. This time it was the catwalk itself, which came emblazoned with capital letters spelling, "Less I, More Us."

In the context of world politics, this perhaps makes sense. But what about in the context of clothes? By the looks of the collection, which was largely a study in black and white, Chiuri's raison d'etre might be a wardrobe that's not anonymous per se but that's quiet enough to let the personality wearing it shine through.

It's worth mentioning that while last season might have featured more debuts, AW26 is still a time of upheaval and change, when the design language, or DNA, of storied fashion houses is getting revised or even rewritten.

Chiuri's approach seems to be stripping things back, relying less on handbags (Fendi's bread and butter) and more on clothing that's both commanding yet wearable. Whether this recalibration will truly resonate with the loyal Fendi customer—and translate into lasting commercial success—is something only time will tell.

The Fendi faithful—more accustomed to a punchier palette and bolder silhouettes—will still find plenty to bookmark ahead of Autumn. An off-the-shoulder lace dress offered a persuasive answer to the perennial question of how to refresh the LBD, its fabrication reworked into midi skirts styled with tuxedo shirts, neat ankle socks and the perfect mid heel. Also destined for wish lists? A tiger-print coat that feels like an elegantly refined version of signature Fendi, as well as the jeans, which, styled with chiselled-toe boots, constitute a shift towards something less "done" for the brand. Lastly, the bags. They might not have been the focus, but with an encrusted tote here, and colour-blocked sequin Baguette there, they're still a serious draw.

Following New York and London, it was the turn of Milan Fashion Week to come into the spotlight for the Autumn/Winter 2026 show season. Running from February 24th until March 2nd, the Italian fashion capital played host to editors, buyers, celebrities and industry insiders from all over the world, who were in town to see the new collections from big-hitters such as Fendi, Prada, Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Ferragamo.

Then, of course, there were all the showrooms, presentations, launches, parties and events going on alongside, not to mention the countless fabulous street style moments in between. It's a lot to keep up with, by any standard—so to help, we've put together a cheat sheet to get you up to speed on all the highlights, talking points and viral moments to come out of Milan Fashion Week.

The Diesel Junkyard

Diesel isn't a brand to do anything by halves, but still—guests were certainly surprised to find a room filled with around 50,000 pieces of memorabilia from the brand's archive as the setting for Glenn Martens' AW26 show. But the immersive installation wasn't just about shock value or Insta-catnip... As the show notes explained: "The memorabilia are forensically displayed under bright lights, like conclusive evidence of nearly fifty years of partying at Diesel. Through reuse and transformation, the installation expresses Diesel’s commitment to upcycling in creative expression, a commitment that is reflected in the collection featuring a diverse range of responsibly sourced and recycled materials across denim, ready to wear and bags."

Rigorous Minimalism at Jil Sander

Simone Bellotti's sophomore show at the helm of Jil Sander was a masterclass in pared-back minimalism, featuring tailored separates, classic coats, smart dresses and butter-soft leather pieces in elegant neutrals—plus a surprise burst of leopard-print in the form of a single midi skirt.

Maria Grazia Chiuri's Fendi Debut

After nine years at the helm of Dior, it was announced late last year that Maria Grazia Chiuri had been appointed Chief Creative Officer of Fendi—the iconic Roman luxury fashion house where the designer first cut her teeth in the accessories department some decades ago. So, Chiuri's first ready-to-wear collection for the brand felt like a full-circle moment, not to mention one of the most important debuts of the season—hence a front-row peppered with celebrities such as Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba and Monica Bellucci. The resulting collection felt decidedly restrained, dominated by black dresses and tailoring, alongside pops of animal print, utilitarian khaki and yellow, as well as the house's signature fur-focussed outerwear.

Party Pants at Missoni

Missoni might be most closely associated with the summer season, but the brand's AW26 collection proved it very much deserves a spot in your winter wardrobe, too. There were chunky knits, oversized coats, warm layers, and more season-appropriate pieces offered in the house's signature patterned fabrics—albeit decidedly more muted—but it was the so-called 'party pants' (tailored trousers jazzed up with lurex thread) that undoubtedly stole the show.

Etro's Evolving Narrative

Creative director Marco De Vincenzo continued to refine his idea of what constitutes “Etro-sity” for AW26. The collection featured tartans layered over paisley, trompe l’oeil scarf prints and heraldic motifs, British-inflected tailoring, and luxe, glamorous flourishes from feather trims and sequins to devoré jacquards and richly worked knits. An ever-evolving eclecticism that felt more considered and compelling than chaotic—and a little more grown-up to boot.

Modern Utility at Max Mara

Max Mara leaned into modern utilitarian elegance this season, trading its signature precision tailoring for looser, more enveloping silhouettes in weighty, tactile, cold-weather-appropriate fabrics. There was a distinctly outdoorsy undercurrent—flat over-the-knee suede boots, practical belt bags, acres of suede—balanced by sweeping coats and maxi jumper dresses that felt both pragmatic and polished. Even eveningwear arrived with woolly epaulettes, reinforcing the idea that this is luxury designed for real winter, not just the front row.

Becks at Boss

More than 600 guests turned out to see the latest BOSS show—and that's before word even got out that brand ambassador David Beckham would be gracing the front row with his presence. Happily, the eye candy extended to the catwalk too, where a standout cast of models emerged in sharp suiting and impeccably tailored separates jazzed up with rich colours, textures and embellishments.

Bella's Back, Four Times

Bella Hadid made her first runway appearance of the Autumn/Winter 2026 season for Prada, where she and just 14 other models took four turns each on the runway, removing a layer every time to show how one outfit can transform at different moments in the same day—and how key pieces come together to form the ultimate, hard-working capsule wardrobe.

Meryll Rogge’s Marni

By all accounts, Belgian designer Meryll Rogge nailed the brief for her Marni debut, capturing the Italian brand's signature quirky, artsy style whilst simultaneously providing a fresh perspective. The collection itself was one of clever contrasts: mountaineer-inflected sportswear met substantial leather and industrial ciré, delicate organza and satin offset utilitarian shapes, while bold stitching, patchworks and off-kilter proportions subtly reworked familiar house codes.

Quiet Luxury at Tod's

Tod’s remains one of the few fashion houses still steadfastly sticking to a decidedly quiet luxury aesthetic, and doing so incredibly well. This season, Matteo Tamburini kept the collection grounded in beautiful leather, from enveloping trenches and pea-coats to supple quilted bombers, rendered in warm, earthy tones of caramel, ginger and chocolate. Subtly reworked loafers, saddle-inspired ankle boots and refined updates to the T Timeless bag reinforced the house’s commitment to craftsmanship over spectacle—all while the likes of Minnie Driver, Lily James, Helena Christensen and Nicky Hilton brought an extra dose of polish to the front row.

The Stars Align for Demna’s Gucci

Demna’s debut show for Gucci was every bit as glamorous, dramatic and star-studded as expected. The front row was filled with the likes of Demi Moore, Eva Herzigova, Donatella Versace, Romeo Beckham and the Hilton sisters, who looked on as supermodels including Emily Ratajkowski, Karlie Kloss, Amelia Gray, Alex Consani and Gabbriette stepped out in the Georgian designer’s sultry, heavily Nineties Tom Ford-coded creations. And as if that weren’t already enough, Demna ensured the show ended with a serious bang courtesy of Kate Moss, who took to the Gucci runway for the first time in more than two decades wearing a backless black gown and Gucci-logo G-string. Iconic.

Argentina, Moschino-fied

There’s never a shortage of tongue-in-cheek fun and whimsy at Moschino, and for AW26 Adrian Appiolaza turned to his native Argentina for inspiration. References to tango, Evita and Buenos Aires were woven throughout the collection, offset by the trompe l’oeil bags and knowingly exaggerated details. But beyond the punchlines, there was a run of genuinely beautiful dresses, rich in ruffles, vibrant patterns and craft, that gave the collection heart as well as humour.

Ferragamo's Stylish Speakeasy

For AW26, Ferragamo's creative director Maximilian Davis—who is still very much in situ, despite recent rumours—continued his ongoing fascination with the 1920s, the era in which the house was originally founded. Using the speakeasy as a jumping-off point, the collection was inspired by the cast of characters who might cross paths there after dark, resulting in everything from reworked sailor uniforms and utilitarian attire, to slinky slip dresses, elegant eveningwear, and cocooning, couture-inspired coats. Paloma Elsesser's turn on the runway was another source of delight, while Tracee Ellis Ross led a stylish real-life cast on the front row.

Madonna at Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana kicked off its AW26 show with a (very worthwhile) 45-minute wait for the inimitable Madonna to take her pew on the front row—before screening a video manifesto declaring that “identity is the ultimate luxury”. The collection itself felt cleaner and more restrained than usual, built around sharp tailoring, black lace and strong outerwear that nodded to the house’s Sicilian roots. The styling, too, was deliberately minimal, with dresses, coats and shirts featuring intricate back detailing—revealed as models paused mid-runway to turn and show the reverse.

Louise Trotter's Bottega: Take Two

It doesn't get much more major than having Daisy Edgar-Jones, Lauryn Hill and Julianne Moore on your front row—but Louise Trotter's sophomore Bottega Veneta collection more than rose to the occasion. For AW26, the British fashion designer continued to refine her vision for the house, balancing structure with sensuality and star power. Think: precise tailoring softened by curved silhouettes, standout coats and unique dresses in fabulously tactile fabrics, epic leather accessories and subtle flashes of nostalgia—all grounded in the quiet confidence and craftsmanship that Bottega does so well.

New York

NYFW has already begun with a bang at Ralph Lauren, with a translucent hooded gown, winking with embellishment, that resembled high-fashion armour (a comment on the state of the nation and the need to steel oneself? Perhaps). It's most-anticipated show of AW26—Proenza Schouler—is showing today, however. It's Rachel Scott's inaugural collection as creative director, while her own label, Diotima, will be showing later in the week. Her appointment was met with something more than excitement, although there was plenty of that in the air. As one of the only women—not to mention women of colour—at the helm of a major design house, it's another (long-overdue) step towards parity in traditionally male-dominated spaces, in this case ateliers that, ironically, make clothes for women. Proenza Schouler has long been a byword for the kind of clothes that are easy to wear but make you look twice. With Scott's focus on craft, it's a debut that deserves the hype.

Elena Velez—whose designs have already been worn by fans including Jenna Ortega, Rosalía and Taylor Swift—will be showing her fourth collection as part of NYFW. Velez's clothes are reminiscent of historical garments with attitude—one skirt suit's bottom half currently on sale is strategically hoiked to reveal a under slip—and often flirt with controversy (Anna Delvey stepped on the catwalk, along with her tell-tale ankle monitor, last September). The American designers, with their sportswear DNA, are usually seen as being the most commercial of the core four. Not Velez, which is what makes her something of a wildcard.

Fforme is another one-to-watch. The American Phoebe Philo is how you could pitch it to someone who's not yet familiar with its easy artistic minimalism (see folded corset tops styled with chino-style pants for SS26).

London

London AW26's schedule will have no shortage of creative firebrands courtesy of famous talent incubator Fashion East, which last year celebrated 20 years. This season's line-up includes Jacek Gleba, Mayhew and newcomer Traiceline Pratt, whose designs have already been worn by A$AP Rocky.

Selasi is also making its first catwalk appearance in several years (its second to date). The brand is masterminded by creative, designer and curator Ronan Mckenzie, with the kind of clothes—thoughtful instead of trend-led—that have quietly won its legions of fans that appreciate her ability to blend fashion, books, flowers, you name it, with the label's spirit (Bibi Abdulkadir leaves an emoji under almost every post on Instagram). With a name that means "God hears me" from the Ghanaian Ewe, Selasi brings together its founder's multidisciplinary practices—making scent to furniture to original scores—all imbued with a sense of self-trust and belief that grounds every garment.

Joseph is returning to show after a hiatus of several years (its last creative director, Louise Trotter, is now at the helm of Bottega Veneta). Although its ready-to-wear comprises refined tailoring that's still the best in the business, its catwalk offering used to be boundary-pushing and, typically for London Fashion Week, usually shown in a dank warehouse. Will it return to its grungy roots under Mario Arena (a man who has form when it comes to edge with previous stints at Christopher Kane, as head of ready-to-wear, and JW Anderson, where he served as director of product and design)? We'll see but it looks promising.

Milan

It's debut season (again!) in Milan, with big-hitters arriving at three of the city's most historic (and influential) brands. Maria Grazia Chiuri will be presenting her first collection for Fendi, with the show scheduled on Wednesday 25 February. Excitingly, another woman also makes her debut at Marni, Meryll Rogge, on the following day, Thursday 26 February. With her eponymous label to simultaneously manage, Rogge is joining the ranks of newly-appointed creative directors wearing two hats such as Rachel Scott, making it a truly game-changing time for women firing on all cylinders.

Finally, Demna, who'll be making his hotly-anticipated catwalk debut at Gucci (Friday 27 February). While he's already made his mark, with a lookbook that caused more than a frisson of excitement as he created house characters such as "La VIP", "Milanesca" and "La Bomba" for SS26, this show will be his masterplan for the brand, a blueprint that could put Gucci, flailing somewhat after a few years of creative director comings and goings, back on top.

Paris

As well as a debut, a designer's final collection for a brand can be a bittersweet moment. That will almost certainly be the case at Alaïa, who is bidding farewell to Pieter Mulier, the man who is just in at Versace.

Elsewhere, second seasons can be just as telling as firsts, with the opportunity to either surprise or cement (see Dior, Jonathan Anderson will be presenting his second womenswear collection, Loewe and Jean Paul Gaultier).

The lights are dim, the music tense, and there’s an indistinguishable murmur of multiple languages. Cue the spotlight, and within moments a model parades in front of you as you sit cross-legged on a white bench—a little too close to the people on either side, who may, or more likely may not, acknowledge your existence. Yes, I’m painting the picture of a fashion show. But you probably knew that—you’ve watched Zoolander, right? Or maybe America’s Next Top Model? Ugly Betty? The list goes on.

But while the traditional catwalk, with all its grandeur and exclusive guest list, may immediately spring to mind, this season we’re witnessing a shake-up. Luxury labels are stepping away from the confines of the catwalk, surprising industry insiders and consumer communities alike with activations that go beyond whitewashed walls and single-file model walks. The result? So far, a resounding success.

Take Gucci’s cinematic short film The Tiger, with Demi Moore taking centre stage as Donna Gucci and the entire cast clad in the latest Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Proof of its popularity? Nearly 100,000 Instagram likes and comments ranging from “wow, this is the best thing I’ve seen in years” to “this is what we want to see”.

It’s this virality that stylist Bee Newham claims makes a social media–first approach a no-brainer for brands. “If you can produce a ‘viral’ online moment which reaches more people (and therefore customers), and it’s cheaper to produce, why wouldn’t you do it?” With results like Gucci’s making a strong case for this anti-show set-up, she’s sure the movement is only going to grow.

“The online world and social media aren’t going anywhere, and they offer brands a way to instantly connect with their customers and fan base,” she adds. “Plus, it’s a way to keep consumers inspired by using different forms of media and approaches to present their brand.”

Over at Diesel, Glenn Martens got playful, inviting everyone to take part in an egg hunt—and not the chocolate kind. Taking all 55 looks to the streets of Milan, the brand offered up a prize for whoever could find them all the fastest. Martens’ message was clear: “this is Diesel for the people, a collection discovered by the public at the same time as everyone else. Fashion is a game and we are playing it: everybody gets to be on the front row”.

To call it a clever consumer activation would be an understatement. As Francesca Gibson, fashion marketing BA lecturer at York St John University shares, "the commercialisation of shows lost brands some of their credibility, and the retail industry knows that they need to offer more than a simple service, so these new creative, artistic activations seem to bridge the gap between ‘show’ and ‘retail’".

Meanwhile, for those on the inside, it was Sunnei’s live auction that stood out. As an industry commentary on how “fashion is finance, creativity is for sale,” the collaboration with Christie’s posed the question of what actually matters in fashion today. Thought-provoking, theatrical, and unforgettable—for those in the room and for spectators outside.

And so, it begs the question: with the most memorable moments of fashion month happening off the catwalk, what becomes of the traditional fashion show? With industry insiders overexposed and consumers eager to be part of the conversation, it’s clear that brands need to get creative.

Perhaps it's the cultural significance of its collections, or maybe it's the impeccable craftsmanship—regardless, you can always count on Prada's shows to be among the most anticipated on the Milan Fashion Week schedule.

So, of course, I’ve taken it upon myself to round up all the key pieces from the collection that you can start incorporating into your wardrobe now - some you probably already have in your wardrobe.

Workman Jackets

Juxtaposed with chic shift dresses, one of the key items in the Spring/Summer 2026 show was the classic workman jacket. The styling secret? Prada's genius colour pairings - black with pink or grey with yellow.

Leather Gloves

A stand out styling trick to this show was layering. Shirts under dresses, cropped cardigans under utilitarian suits, and gloves tucked into outerwear - in the eyes of Prada, it doesn't matter, as long as it's layered. For SS26, a key item used for layering was leather gloves, in both pastel and neutral colourways - the greater the colour clash the better.

Bright Shift Dresses

Thinking ahead to the holiday season (it's never too early), consider investing in a brightly coloured shift dress. Style it under a utility style leather jacket and add a pair of contrasting coloured heels.

Bubble Hem Skirts

Remember this summer's bubble hem skirts? They're not going anywhere; in fact, they're only getting chicer and slightly longer in length. Wear with an unexpected contrasting bright shirt and jacket.

Silk Handbags

Prada's SS26 collection featured many ladylike accessories, including embellished heels, gloves, and ballet-inspired sneakerinas. However, one standout piece was its silk pouch handbag. Available in three different colourways, this handbag was styled alongside grey trousers, bubble hem skirts, and long cardigans.

The Giorgio Armani show is always a highlight of Milan Fashion Week, traditionally taking the bi-annual event's prestigious closing slot—but last night's was memorable for an entirely different reason. Spring/Summer 2026 was the final collection that Mr Armani personally worked on before sadly passing away earlier this month aged 91, and acted both as a celebration of his brand's 50th anniversary, and an unofficial memorial for the legendary designer himself.

In attendance for the historic event were Hollywood stars, models and industry luminaries spanning all the different eras of Armani's glittering career—including Lauren Hutton, Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, Spike Lee and Richard Gere, whom Mr Armani so famously dressed for the cult Eighties film American Gigolo.

Adding to the emotionally-charged atmosphere were the flickering paper lanterns that peppered the courtyard, Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi on the piano, guests dressed in black tie (some with t-shirts depicting Armani's face beneath), as well as the fact that the show-space was in the Pinacoteca di Brera, a museum in the heart of the neighbourhood where the designer had always lived and worked.

As for the collection itself, entitled "Pantelleria, Milan", it was a love letter to the two places closest to Mr Armani's heart, and beautifully combined inspirations from each. Think soft, fluid tailoring and effortless two-pieces alongside ethereal evening gowns, and a colour palette dominated by greens and blues plucked straight from Pantelleria's sea.

The show notes explained: "Each piece evokes profound feelings and indelible memories of a beauty that transforms the wardrobe into an experience of pure emotion with only the merest gesture. The timeless character of Armani's touch lies in this paradox: a powerful stylistic statement, expressed through weightless clothes, an airy elegance that remains unforgettable."

And, for the closing look: a glittering, long-sleeved, inky-blue gown embroidered with a subtle image of the late designer's face—and modelled by one of his favourite models, Agnese Zogla, to boot. As a heartfelt standing ovation ensued, it was an emotional reminder of Mr Armani's indelible impact on the world around him—and long may his legacy ensue.

Miranda Priestly might have sat front row at Dolce & Gabbana, but even her appearance couldn't quite steal the spotlight from Bottega Veneta, where, earlier this afternoon, Louise Trotter made her debut as creative director.

Her celebrity ticket-holders were an eclectic assortment of A-listers (Julianne Moore, Michelle Yeoh, Steve McQueen but also the star of Adolescence, Emmy-winning, 15 year-old Owen Cooper), who very well might have dialled their stylists for a post-show debrief of a masterful first collection.

This was a slow-burn sequence that didn't build to a crescendo so much as deliver quietly knockout look after look (although a fabulous series of filament-fringe jackets had a staccato flutter as they moved down the catwalk and one, undoubtedly, should be snapped up by aqua-haired attendee Vicky Krieps).

The showmanship was in the styling, which was elegant yet ever-so-slightly undone, dodging polish for something harder to put your finger on. The sleeve of a leather dress fell off the right shoulder; a chunky knit looped around the neck; hems puddled over flat shoes; giant handbags were clutched protectively to the body; cuffs stretched below the knuckles; a shirt collar popped over the lapel of its accompanying blazer. These might have been precision-engineered but they looked anything but, lending a fringed coat, say, or a pencil skirt with two hemlines a sense of personality.

Bottega Veneta's "Intrecciato", its signature woven leather, expanded its lexicon from handbags to outerwear and even blouses, with one hot take in the form of a structured polo neck that, again, would be a dynamite alternative to a gown on the red carpet. The patent clogs, meanwhile, with studs and a slightly upturned pointed toe will soon have a cult following.

As one of the most illustrious but also influential brands at Milan Fashion Week, Trotter's appointment was universally feted by editors. As well as her stellar CV, with creative director credits at Carven, Lacoste and Joseph, not forgetting stints at household names like Gap, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, she joins the steadily burgeoning ranks of female leaders of design houses along with Sarah Burton (at Givenchy), Meryll Rogge (at Marni) and most recently Rachel Scott (at Proenza Schouler).

Women designing for women shouldn't be surprising, but in an industry largely still powered by the creative minds of men, it's a tentative sign that, slowly, things might be changing.

Trotter's past experience is an interesting mix of high street and high end. Born in Sunderland, she cut her teeth at Whistles, a retail stalwart whose customer appreciates a style of clothing that could be called "affordable luxury", and it's this background of speaking to a swathe of customers that perhaps informed her first collection at Bottega Veneta, the leather goods brand that renewed its relevance under the leadership of its two previous creative directors: Daniel Lee, now at Burberry, and Matthieu Blazy, who is poised to make his debut at Chanel.

Trotter's inaugural collection might not have contained one standout piece that will generate column inches (Blazy's "checked shirt" that was actually crafted of leather was an instant talking point modelled by Kate Moss), but perhaps it did something equally powerful, providing a tantalising alternative to "in-your-face" fashion. These are clothes that let their wearer make of them what they will, not the other way round. And what, at the end of the day, is more luxurious than that?

There's nothing quite like the buzz surrounding a Prada show. Not only is it one of the most important brands on the Milan Fashion Week schedule, but it's one of the most powerful, successful and influential luxury labels in the world, too. On a more practical level, however, Prada is the brand that stylish women turn to for some semblance of an everyday uniform—so each new collection acts as a pretty accurate predictor for how insiders will be dressing in the near future.

If the Spring/Summer 2026 collection is anything to go by, then, it seems that next year we'll all be wearing statement midi skirts, utility shirts, lashings of grey, and some wonderfully unexpected colour combinations. A classic Miuccia mix of easily elegant utilitarian glamour—that still feels fresh.

Held in a vast, orange-floored warehouse on the outskirts of Milan, the Prada SS26 show drew a typically starry front row, including longtime, high-profile devotees such as Emma Chamberlain, Carey Mulligan, Kerry Washington, Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink. They—along with the great and the good of the global fashion community—watched on in visible delight as models emerged in Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons' latest must-have designs.

Explaining the inspiration behind the collection, entitled 'Body of Composition', Mrs Prada said: "Inevitably, when we create we think about the world around us. The future is unknown. This collection is about reacting to the uncertain—clothes that can shift, change, adapt. In the combination of the different elements, in this idea of composition, there is a choice and freedom, authority and agency for the woman wearing them. It is fashion that is connected inherently to the world, with a meaning and usefulness. How to face the world, and how to survive."

Hence: pieces that are equal parts practical and innately chic, light and unrestrictive in their form, made to be moved around in and endlessly combined—often in unexpected ways. Silky evening minis were layered over contrasting bubble-style skirts; utilitarian jumpsuits were elevated with luxurious materials, and paired with silk opera gloves; leather jackets turned ladylike in pale pinks and greens; masculine overshirts topped bright satin bloomers, and grey workwear blazers were worn with soft matching bras.

The skirts were undoubtedly the stars of the show, however, and statement-making in all their forms. Some were made from puffed-up taffeta, while others came in bright jewel tones, high-waisted and tied up with a ribbon, and there were some simple(ish) black designs too. But the standouts were made up of a stylish mish-mash of materials, textures and tones: a high-fashion, luxurious Prada-coded take on Chopova, if you will.

As for the accessories, they were excellent as ever. Standouts included black structured leather bags—the new cult work bag, no doubt—, costume-style coloured crystal earrings, 'work in the front, party in the back' heels with diamanté tassels, and silk pouches reminiscent of dust bags that will (hopefully) make for a more entry-level investment.

With Giorgio Armani passing away earlier this month at the age of 91, Milan Fashion Week was missing its "maestro". And as such a titan of the global fashion industry and one of the only designer labels to genuinely be a household name, both his shows, Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani, were always going to feel bittersweet.

The Emporio Armani SS26 collection, which presumably marks one of the last to have been presided over by the forensic eye of Mr Armani, was a typical display of how “less is more”. His woman’s mainstay is still tailored separates, always with in-built ease and a sense of practicality. This was as true as ever at today’s show, where one crew-neck gilet was blessed with a gigantic pair of pockets (for a man, Mr Armani always knew what mattered to women). Trousers were also louche and wide-legged, proving that comfort, too, is a priority. There was also a dose of fun, however (said trousers were styled with glittering bralet-style tops or, in one case, a translucent mesh T-shirt).

The Armani touch revolutionised the world of tailoring. It’s a touch that might feel lighter or less ground-breaking now, but it was still quietly evident on the catwalk. Many Italian brands are known for delivering high-octane glamour. Mr Armani certainly knew something about that word, having dressed countless Oscar-winners, but his was always a more elegant, less in-your-face take. The takeaways were soft-focus shades, flat shoes, allowing for the perfect distances between hemline, ankle and sole, as well as slouchy bags that could be slung over the shoulder or squashed under the forearm like a clutch.

With five decades at the top of his game, Mr Armani would naturally expect the show to go on. In fact, the only sign of change in the air was the finale. The models clapped as they lapped the room and, instead of taking his usual bow, Silvana Armani, his niece, appeared to wave graciously at the raised iPhones, as well as kiss her right hand and lift it briefly to the ceiling.

The future of the privately-owned empire he built remains uncertain. In his will, according to a report by Reuters, Armani specified that a 15% stake in the company must be sold within a timeframe of 18 months, with priority being given to luxury behemoths LVMH, L'Oreal and EssilorLuxottica.

As thoughtful in his approach to business as he was to the precise cut of a men's suit jacket, Mr Armani was no doubt securing his future legacy for the next generation of Armani-wearers. Time will tell what happens to Armani, the brand. But Armani the man will remain a fashion industry legend forevermore.

Milan Fashion Week SS26: Day Five Highlights

The Devil Wears Dolce

And the winner of "most viral moment of Milan Fashion Week" goes to... The cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 making a surprise appearance on the Dolce & Gabbana front row. Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley arrived strictly in character to take their pews alongside the likes of Naomi Campbell and Michele Morrone—and there may have even been a hint of a smile from Miranda Priestly as the SS26 collection made its way down the runway.

The theme? Boudoir seduction meets city life, as men's pyjamas were bedazzled, embroidered and styled with lacy lingerie, sharp tailoring, denim and leather.

Ferragamo's Roaring Twenties

Maximilian Davis served one of the most standout shows of Milan Fashion Week yet again for Spring/Summer 2026, with a collection that brought the 1920s beautifully into the modern day. “This was a moment where women were creating a new femininity—it was a celebration of freedom, a reclaiming of self,” explained Davis in the show notes. “It was a period when people were creating spaces for themselves and rebelling against societal norms—and that spirit translated into people’s wardrobes.” As a result, the collection was filled with the era's signature drop-waist dresses, low backs, speakeasy suiting, colour blocking and lace-panelled slips, alongside exotic animal prints, leather jewellery and fringed embellishments inspired by the "Africana" movement of the jazz age. The fashion world hasn't been able to stop talking about this collection practically ever since.

Milan Fashion Week SS26: Day Four Highlights

Dario Vitale's Versace

Dario Vitale for Versace was one of the most talked-about designer debuts of the season, and it did not disappoint. For SS26, Vitale presented bold colours, vivid patterns, dynamic styling and endless sex appeal—all inspired by the "feeling" and "attitude" at the heart of the historic house. As the show notes put it, Versace is all about "an expression of life lived freely, fully, without apology or restraint. Unbridled by inhibition, indulging tactile pleasures, dirty and divine. Profoundly Italian elegance with an outrageous impulse." Hence: sparkly pants styled unexpectedly with a vintage-inspired brown bomber, purposefully clashing "lurid" graphics, miniature embroidered bras, a whole lot of leather, jazzy jeans, and Eighties references aplenty. Niche? Yes. But fabulously, unabashedly in-your-face and OTT? Also yes.

Tod's Leaves Its Mark

For Spring/Summer 2026, Tod's creative director Matteo Tamburini placed the brand's signature material—leather—and rich history of artisanal craftsmanship centre-stage, resulting in a collection that felt both extremely elevated and easily wearable. There were butter-soft, statement coats aplenty, pared-back draped dresses and fun, striped, handkerchief-inspired two-piece sets, as well as fresh takes on the iconic Gommino destined to become the new everyday staple.

Lightness and Motion at Sportmax

Sportmax took over the historic Frigoriferi Milanesi for its SS26 show, presenting a collection that focused on fabrics "that respond to movement and light" and "speak to women in perpetual motion", according to the show notes. So, silhouettes were fluid and unrestrictive, while still being crafted with utmost architectural precision—as seen in crisp yet slouchy tailoring, slinky dresses, and coats, tops and trousers elegantly cut from organza. Meanwhile, pale yellow emerged as the shade of the season, strategic flashes of skin oozed sensuality, and leather bags, XXL belts, contrast collars and jackets added a hint of urban edge.

Elisabetta Franchi’s Sculptural Showcase

Set in Milan’s landmark “The House of The Devil”, the space served as the ultimate setting for Elisabetta Franchi’s SS26 show. Weaving itself with the maison’s sculptural designs and silhouettes, the architectural backdrop helped tell a story of mystery, strength, and beauty. Celebrating the autonomous women the brand prides itself on designing for, this season’s offerings include fringe detailing flowing freely across the body, delicate tulle inserts, and reworked denim.

Cavalli's 'Gold Obsession'

Fausto Puglisi's latest collection for Roberto Cavalli was quite literally dripping in gold—and we would expect nothing less from a brand that leans so heavily into mega-watt glamour. The much-loved metallic touched everything from denim and velvet devoré trousers to lamé dresses, swimsuits and sunglasses, interspersed with a heavy dose of Cavalli's signature snake-print to boot. As the show notes so aptly put it: "Choosing gold does not mean choosing just a colour, but embracing an aesthetic vision: precious, bold, and contemporary, like the women who have always worn Cavalli." And no doubt they will go gaga for every gloriously glitzy, gilded piece.

Moschino Elevates 'Arte Povera'

You can always rely on Moschino to bring a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun to Fashion Week, and cut through the serious atmosphere. But while Adrian Appiolaza's SS26 show featured joy-sparking playful touches aplenty—knitted swan nipple covers, avant-garde headwear, giant smiley-faces, trompe l'oeil designs, and stockpot bags, to name but a few—it also felt a little more muted, and universally wearable, than usual. Indeed, the collection was entitled 'Niente' (Italian for 'nothing') and inspired by the Arte Povera movement, hence the "return to simplicity" and central ethos of "reuse, recycle, reimagine". Archival prints were reworked in fresh ways, capes made from fabric scraps, potato sacks transformed into eveningwear, and humble items from everyday life elevated into high-fashion prints and accessories.

Max Mara's Take on Rococo

Rococo might seem an unlikely source of inspiration for Max Mara, a brand known for its sleek, modern and minimal aesthetic, but that's precisely what was on creative director Ian Griffith's moodboard for Spring/Summer 2026. His muse? Madame de Pompadour, the queen of Rococo herself, albeit reimagined "as if she were a contemporary woman", as Griffiths told WWD. So, rather than leaning too heavily into the all-out lavish opulence of the era, it was more about subtle nods in the form of ruched chiffon shoulders, elegant floral prints, layered rara-style skirts, sheer organza coats and dramatic silk petal capes. And alongside these, all the pared-back tailored suits, smart jackets and low-key dresses we've come to expect from the brand, in fresh new iterations.

Casadei's Statement of Innovation

Celebrating the brand’s passion for quality craftsmanship and nature, this season’s offerings meticulously play on the brand’s popular signature architectural heel, returning in metallics and solar tones. Rooted in the spirit of the ‘70s, Casadei also reinterprets the elegance and practicality of the beloved platform heel, this time with refined straps to ensure comfort without compromising style. Excitingly, the brand also embraces 3D design as a bold statement of innovation, reflecting a brand unafraid to adapt to modern technologies while upholding their profound heritage.

Etro's Dark Bohemia

Etro is known for bohemian elegance, something that creative director Marco De Vincenzo has really honed for the past three years—while simultaneously injecting the brand with a buzzy new energy. This season, he called on Neapolitan singer La Niña to provide a "tense, ritualistic" live soundtrack for the SS26 show, that featured clashing prints, beaded tassels, patchwork leathers, embroidered denim, sequins and suede aplenty. The aesthetic had a decidedly dark romantic edge, and clothes flowed freely—designed to be moved in, and sure to shimmy their way into many a glamorous party come summer.

Missoni From Office to Beach

Autumn/Winter 2025 was Alberto Caliri’s first collection for Missoni, and marked a major shift away from what the previous creative director had been doing, with a more muted colour palette and focus on outerwear. But for Spring/Summer 2026, it feels like the designer really found his feet. Few brands are as synonymous with summer as Missoni, but Caliri cleverly moved the brand on—and while the usual beachwear favourites and sequins still featured, the overall aesthetic was decidedly more grown-up. Think: knitted twinsets broken up with canvas jackets and shorts, 80s-inspired jackets, crisp striped shirts and oversize blazers, as though models had just left the office, thrown their towels into an oversized tote, and grabbed their handbags to head straight to the beach club.

Fendi's Futuristic Summer Wardrobe

Fendi's SS26 show was all about colour, from the pixelated set designed by Marc Newson to the looks that came down the catwalk. The palette was striking, varied, at-times surprising (pink and red, hello!), and endlessly joy-sparking—much like the casting itself, that included models Paloma Elsesser, Natasha Poly, Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Adwoa Aboah, Mariacarla Boscono and Karen Elson. Florals also featured throughout, but in ways that felt fabulously fresh: printed across iridescent layers, cut out of leather pieces, forming the lace for skirts and dresses, embroidered onto bags, hanging off them as charms, and even incorporated into furs. As the show notes so aptly described it, this is a vision of "a future summer, seen through a fantastical Fendi lens."

Then, to round off the festivities, Fendi hosted a glitzy post-show party at the new Palazzo Fendi Milano: the brand's newly opened, sprawling four-floor flagship. Guests including Shailene Woodley, Isabela Merced and Ryan Destiny were in attendance, sipping cocktails and exploring the spectacular interiors dotted with pieces of priceless art and sculpture, as well as Fendi's fashion displays.

Milan Fashion Week SS26: Day One Highlights

Gucci's Star-Studded Screening

The hottest ticket of Milan Fashion Week day one was undoubtedly Gucci—despite the fashion house not actually staging a runway show. Instead, creative director Demna unveiled a first taste of his vision for the brand in film form and hosted a star-studded premiere for the occasion, that was attended by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Serena Williams and Lila Moss.

Created by Oscar winner Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn, the short is entitled The Tiger, and stars Demi Moore, Alex Consani, Kendall Jenner, Elliot Page and more big names, who make up the members of an alternative-reality Gucci family. Of course, they're all wearing looks from Demna's new, aptly named 'La Famiglia' collection, that was unexpectedly announced on Instagram a day prior, and that, even more surprisingly, will be available to purchase from 25th September.

Discreet Chic at Alberta Ferretti

This was Lorenzo Serafini's sophomore collection as creative director of Alberta Ferretti, and proof that he is the man to lead the brand firmly into the future. For Spring/Summer 2026, he was inspired by the idea of a "progressive hostess": described in the show notes as "a woman who gatekeeps her lifestyle in order to live beyond scrutiny", and who "favours discretion over exposure, and intimacy over exhibition." So, in short, someone who knows that privacy is the ultimate luxury, and eschews the constantly-online, peacock-y mode of today.

The resulting collection? Quietly beautiful, elegantly floaty, neutrals-focussed clothing that chic, wealthy women will actually want to wear. Draped and pleated dresses were reminiscent of classical Greek statuary, and the tailoring similarly soft and flowy, while a pop of fun came in the form of leopard prints, metallics, blood-red and cobalt-blue bags, as well as the odd, subtly sensual flash of skin.

Diesel's Egg Hunt

Diesel kick-started Milan Fashion Week with a static pop-up installation in the heart of the city, that saw models posing inside Perspex eggs. A more intimate way of presenting its new collection compared with a traditional show format, guests could get up-close and personal with each look. Think: lime green and purple denims, spray-paint-style fabrics with a cracked finish, and ditsy florals alongside tailored jackets, pencil skirts and grown-up accessories. The public was invited to take part afterwards, too, embarking on an immersive 'egg hunt' around town to experience the collection for themselves.

Gucci's new creative director Demna has always been one to do things differently—and one can assume that this was precisely his appeal for the Italian fashion house, that has been struggling for the past few years. It follows, then, that the Georgian designer would take a somewhat unorthodox approach to debuting his new vision for the brand, eschewing the traditional runway show in favour of something a little more unusual, but no less internet-breaking.

On the eve of Milan Fashion Week, Gucci unveiled a surprise first look at Demna's new collection via Instagram, entitled La Famiglia. "This collection marks the genesis of a new Gucci era: unapologetically sexy, extravagant and daring," according to the brand. "La Famiglia is a study of the 'Gucciness' of Gucci, an expression of the brand as a mindset and a shared aesthetic language."

A so-called "prelude" that serves to define "the aesthetic base upon which Demna’s Gucci vision will be built leading up to his first show in February,” it features 37 looks shot as framed portraits of "an extended Gucci family". Among them, tongue-in-cheek archetypes like 'La Drama Queen' (in an OTT feathered gown), 'Miss Aperitivo' (in a sparkly mini dress and heels), and 'La Bomba' (wearing a fur dress-coat, and nothing else)—with all pieces available to shop exclusively in ten Gucci stores, New Bond Street included, for a limited time only (September 25th to October 12th).

But naturally, that was just the start. The main event? A star-studded film premiere that really brought Demna's Gucci vision to life.

In another surprise move, Gucci took over Milan's Palazzo Mezzanotte last night to unveil The Tiger, a short film showcasing looks from Demna's debut. The work of Oscar winner Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn, it stars Demi Moore as Barbara Gucci, the fictional matriarch of an alternative-reality Gucci family as she struggles to hold it all together beneath her impossibly polished surface.

“I’m not defining my Gucci vision yet, more the platform on which I will build that,” Demna told guests at the premiere, according to the Financial Times. “I want people to be excited again about the archives and personalties of this brand.”

And his ingenious, unexpected, multi-format unveiling of the La Famiglia collection ensured just that—much helped by the fact that many of the big names that make up the real-life Gucci gang were in attendance for the occasion, and very much dressed the part, too.

Demi Moore arrived at the hyper-exclusive premiere wearing a spectacular embroidered gown befitting of her Barbara Gucci persona, while Gwyneth Paltrow wore head-to-toe Gucci monogram, and Serena Williams stunned in an elegant black feathered dress from the brand.

Meanwhile, Alex Consani and Lila Moss arrived in the exact looks they modelled for Demna's La Famiglia campaign—an incredibly glamorous tiger-print mink coat-dress, and Sixties-style turtleneck, croc-leather miniskirt and knee-high boots, respectively. New-gen cool girls Devon Lee Carlson, Mariacarla Boscono and Amelia Gray were also in attendance.

If this is just a small prelude taster to what we can expect from Demna at Gucci, the future looks very bright indeed.

If you work in the fashion industry, chances are that you have been breathing a sigh of relief, as the AW25 season has just wrapped. Across the weeks, there were a dizzying array of sartorial looks, and crucially, for my purposes, some truly excellent beauty across hair, make-up and nails.

I have spent the last month running around backstage, and then glued to my laptop, to bring Marie Claire UK readers the most defining looks straight from the Autumn/Winter 2025 runways. There was our detailed beauty report from London Fashion Week, as well as the best street-style looks across our hometown, and Paris, Milan and New York.

And now, it's over... Well, kind of. While we're only now entering into the warmer season, the trendiest amongst us are already thinking about what's to come. Below are the very best autumn/winter 2025 fashion month beauty looks that you'll be seeing everywhere, soon.

Paris

Chanel

Smoked-out, grungy eyes were the name of the game at Chanel—looks like an indie sleaze revival might just get off the ground this year.

Christian Dior

Bushy brows, clear skin and balmy lips were all over Dior. It's pared back, minimalist, and was a look that was seen all over the runways this season.

Miu Miu

Updos have been everywhere of late; from Margaret Qualley's Oscars hair to the street-style looks I spotted across the globe. I am particularly partial to Miu Miu's take though; it is undone, lived-in and just feels effortless, and not too staid.

Valentino

This season, I have waxed lyrical about the return of tonal make-up. I did not, however, expect to see it in Alessandro Michele's sophomore debut for Valentino, but it worked perfectly to balance his avant-garde stylings.

Acne

At Acne, hair lead Anthony Turner used Schwarzkopf to create striking hair looks that captured “the essence of modern duality”. There was a contrast between the masculine and feminine elements, with the top being sleek and structured, “a handsome boyish” look, while the back was soft, long and natural.

Louis Vuitton

At Louis Vuitton, the lips did the talking. This statement vampy red is something that I can't wait to recreate once the seasons change.

Loewe

At Balenciaga, hair was super long, and natural. With a messy middle part, it looks like the model had gently curled her hair the night before, and let it come undone.

Issey Miyake

Anthony Turner also did the hair at Issey Miyake, using Schwarzkopf. This time around, the hair was firmly transitional. He said: “[It’s about] the in-between phase where hair is neither one thing nor the other. It’s about the journey, creating two looks in one: dry moving into wet or wet into dry. This duality brings an unexpected edge, making the hair feel fluid and transformative.”

Chloé

At Chloé, the hair was effortlessly undone and chic, thanks to Gary Gill, who used Authentic Beauty Concept. He said: "The idea is a confident girl who gets up, leaves the house, and doesn’t mind if she sleeps on her hair—it’s all about a real, nice, gentle, and easy feel."

Hermès

At Hermès, hair was short and slicked. I've said it time and time again that this is the year of the bob, and I love this take—it oozes professionalism, with a bit of 80's prep to freshen it up.

Milan

Fendi

Workplace professionalism is always a theme when it comes to the autumn/winter season, but Fendi's take on it felt distinctly editorial with the addition of a sweeping side-part.

Prada

Prada has long been the queen of the bedhead, and this season's show was no different. Models wore their hair slightly unruly, embracing natural texture and frizz. I'm so here for it.

Versace

Bold, glossy, lips were the statement at Versace this season. The colour skewed towards a darker, vampy burgundy, and it was finished off with a thick clear gloss.

Gucci

Soft, blurred skin that looked velvety in texture was all over the runway for Gucci. While we're not seeing a return to all out highlighter, portions of models' faces were gently illuminated, as if they were lit from within.

Giorgio Armani

This subtle, yet effective, graphic eyeliner look at Giorgio Armani waves the green flag to experiment with make-up this upcoming season.

Roberto Cavalli

Almost skin-coloured, barely-there brows were spotted at Roberto Cavalli.

Max Mara

I am obsessed with these undone, tousled waves at Max Mara. They're perfectly coifed but refreshingly messy, and non-precise.

Sportmax

Bare-faced make-up was given editorial update at Sportmax. Here, the focus was on accentuating the features gently, without any one thing drawing the eye to it. It's about the face as a whole, rather than the classic emphasis on the eye or the lip.

Missoni

At Missoni, the long, over-grown fringes were absolutely stellar, and incited a collective exhalation from people like me, who have high maintenance bangs. Here, they were almost wispy at the front, and looked lightweight.

London

Harris Reed

At Harris Reed, it's always about the lashes. Models wore inches-long sculptural lashes in shades of cobalt blue, black and metallic gold. The designer collaborated with Charlotte Tilbury once more on the make-up front. The brand's Global Artistry Director, Sofia Tilbury, kept complexions neutral and glowy to prioritise the eyes, using Charlotte Tilbury's limited-edition palette of Beautifying Eye trends in Super Neutral, The Feline Flick eyeliner and lashings of the Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara to dial up the drama.

And then, on top, it was all about glass hair. Using Dyson, lead hairstylist Ali Pirzadeh drew inspiration from the clothing's sharp lines and cage-like shapes to create sculptural barnets. Key looks saw the hair pushed away from the face, and lifted in the temples, in the guise of a highly-glossed ponytail and modelled bun.

Burberry

Tonal make-up was across several runways this season, but Burberry's take—with soft pops of peach, ochre, coral and terracotta. It's a subtle, but very wearable, injection of colour for the autumn/winter 2025 season.

SS Daley

At SS Daley, Anna Cofone, Global Creative Advocate for Authentic Beauty Concept created hair looks that were tousled, yet controlled. Backstage, Cofone told Marie Claire UK that she drew on the interplay between masculine and feminine to create looks that were incredibly precise; replete with elegant coifs that swept the hair off the face. If you looked closely, not a hair was out of place, but it still looked effortlessly undone.

Richard Quinn

At Richard Quinn, Terry Barber, Global Creative Director of Artistry at M.A.C, referenced "IT girls" from the 60s, including Julie Christie, Jean Shrimpton and Dianna Ross. There was a swipe of blue eyeshadow across the eyelids, a nude lip and opalescent highlights—the latter of which Barber said will be returning this year.

Dreaming Eli

At Dreaming Eli, M.A.C's Senior Artist Carly Utting said backstage: "It's not an Instagram-perfect look, it's like you've had it on for six hours... It’s like Alexa Chung in the 90’s post-Glastonbury, with a Shirly Manson chunky lash. Thick lashes are definitely having a moment, we’ve seen quite a lot in the past few weeks in New York."

Chet Lo

Cafone also used Authentic Beauty Concept when leading on the hair at Chet Lo. The look revolved around panels of crimped hair, which resembled and reflected the patterns within Lo's clothing.

Annie's Ibiza

This season, Annie's Ibiza was a big nod to Renaissance beauty and youthful romance. Sam McKnight used extensions to achieve long, softly waved and crimped lengths, which were topped with braided updos and dropped plaits. The real stars of the show were the chunky, glossed braids, which McKnight described as "little horns" when I was backstage.

Roksanda

Statement lips came in unconventional colours at Roksanda, like this striking, glossy blackened teal.

Emilia Wickstead

Blurred, satin skin also reigned supreme at Emilia Wickstead. The skin was prepped by EVE LOM's master facialist Jon Rummins, who used the brand’s Radiance Repair Retinol Serum, Daily Rejuvenating Cream and Renewal Treatment Oil for “modern, luminous, fresh skin”.

Simone Rocha

At Simone Rocha, blush was applied onto the cheeks via a thick sweep—the colour was decidedly ruddy and apricot-leaning. It made for a natural flush, as if the models had just been outdoors in the countryside all day.

Erdem

Blurred, soft-focus lips, in gorgeous pink-coral shades, were spotted on the runway at Erdem—it's proof that light, more spring-adjacent colours also work in the cooler months.

New York

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren nailed long, bohemian waves this season.

Carolina Herrera

I can't get enough of this entire Carolina Herrera look; from the stacked bob to the dewy skin, perhaps it's the dark, rosy lip that takes the cake.

Coach

Unfussy, shaggy hair spotted at Coach, screamed "back to school".

Tory Burch

Greige, cool-toned eyeshadow softly washed across the eyelids harked to the 90's revival at Tory Burch.

Christian Cowan

Bright pink accents at Christian Cowan broke up more minimalist beauty looks at NYFW.

Off-white

These balmy, hydrated looking lips added a juicy accent to the face at Off-White.

Twice a year, we turn to Milan Fashion Week to see what designers such as Gucci, Ferragamo and Dolce & Gabbana have to offer for the upcoming months. And, this season, the coolest fashion fans flocked to the Italian city, dressed in their chicest outfits and sporting the best Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Month beauty looks

For SS25, I have seen plenty I want to try out for myself. While New York Fashion Week beauty looks were all about low-fuss trends and London Fashion Week beauty looks were all things cool and quirky, Milan was all about the classics. There was fiery copper hair, burgundy lips, brushed-up brows and gorgeous golden highlighter. And as far as nails went? It was all about classic reds, whether worn on the finger or toe nails.

Here are the 11 Milan Fashion Week beauty microtrends I can't wait to try out myself.

1. Fun plaits

Milan street style proved plaits are the most fun they've ever been; from up dos to long fishtail styles worn down, it's the dealer's choice. Just invest in a good hairspray to keep your intricate work in place.

2. Italian-girl brows

The Italian-girl brow is super fluffy, super full, defined yet not full of eyebrow gel and totally wearable. We saw plenty of chic examples on the streets of Milan, proving brows can always be the defining feature. Victoria Beckham's new brow gel is ideal for creating this kind of look.

3. Stardust pink hair

Stardust pink is an autumn hair trend identified by STIL founder Christel Barron-Hough, and it proved its power in Milan. It's a wearable, slightly-washed out take on pink hair for the season. At-home dyes can achieve the effect for pre-lightened hair; Maria Nila's is great.

4. 90s tendrils

90s tendrils just got super chic, and they were out in full force at Milan Fashion Week. They can be worn straight or for a little more shape, in soft waves or tighter curls.

5. Golden hour highlighter

Leigh-Anne Pinnock's golden highlighter shone beautifully in the sunlight at MFW, and while champagne and pink hues are gorgeous, you can't beat a classic gold. The L'Oreal Paris Lumi Glotion comes in four shades, including a couple of gold/bronze options to wear at the tops of cheekbones.

6. Ombré lips

Burgundy, wine-stained lips were everywhere in Milan, both on the street and around the front row. But perhaps my favourite look went to those who added a touch of ombré to their berry lips, with a standout darker line and softer filled-in lip. Add a little gloss at the centre of the lips for more of an edge.

7. Flicked-out hair

We all know that Kendall Jenner has gone blonde, but her chosen style for Milan Fashion Week wowed us all. The flicked-out bob is trending right now, and Kendall's flicked-out look is super nostalgic and chic, and can easily be achieved with a hot brush, such as Amika's.

8. Face-skimming fringes

Ashley Graham was not the only one who wore a long, face-skimming fringe with a slightly slicked texture. Several other guests rocked the style, along with models on the runway (at the The Attico show, for example). This look is especially great if you're currently growing out a fringe.

9. Red nails everywhere

Simple, red manis were all over Milan Fashion Week: we saw it in street style looks, backstage, on the catwalk and on the front row. As well as red manis, there were plenty of red toenails as well, along with French-tip pedicures.

10. Fiery copper hair

We all know that copper is in for autumn, but Milan showcased some brighter, more fiery takes on the trend. Red is so versatile, and whether you get it done in-salon or from home, you will surely find a hue that suits you.

11. Polished ponies

If Nara Smith wears a polished ponytail, I wear a polished ponytail. The TikTok star was seen with her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, sporting a sleek up do that I can't wait to try. Invest in a serum to prep hair before styling.

We might have just had the last 7pm sunset until 2025 (sigh), but for the Fashion crowd, thoughts are turning decidedly towards Spring/Summer 2025. Yes, we're over halfway through Fashion Month, having already stopped off in New York and London. In Milan, where our editors clocked Beckham at BOSS and Gabbriette at Gucci (as well as a whole host of other names that don't alliterate with heritage fashion houses), the weather might've been a temperate 15 degrees, but the runways—and the stars in attendance—were soaring.

Following on from London Fashion Week, the shows at Milan Fashion Week are underway, ready to showcase the Spring/Summer 2025 collections from our favourite Italian houses.

The Marie Claire team is on the ground, bringing you all the highlights from the catwalks – and a sneak peek of next season's trends.

Etro

For Spring/Summer 2025, the Etro woman is all about the journey. It's about celebrating every moment and living life to its fullest. Naturally, her wardrobe matches. It exudes confidence and fun, with a riot of colour, shapes and print.

Florals for spring are generally thought of as the opposite of groundbreaking, but in Marco De Vincenzo's hands, they told a compelling story.

Etro's latest offering featured intarsia knits with giant blooms, intricately embroidered dresses with peekaboo panels, and the house's flower-printed silks, crafted into ruffle-front dresses, fishtail skirts and '70s-style shirts.

Roberto Cavalli

This was the first Roberto Cavalli show since the designer's passing, and it was suitably noteworthy. Fausto Puglisi tapped supermodels Eva Herzigova, Mariacarla Boscono, Alek Wek, Isabeli Fontana, Joan Smalls, Karen Elson, and Natasha Poly to model seven killer evening dresses in the show's finale. In black leather and zebra-striped chiffon, with thigh-high splits and frothy ruffles, these frocks exemplified the unabashed sexiness the house of known for.

There were also enough sleek looks in cream to satisfy even the most print-averse, accessorised with futuristic, wrap-around shades and ankle-strap mules. Think form-fitting mini dresses with flowing maxi coats and slouchy suit trousers with a navel-baring jacket.

No. 21

When moodboarding for No. 21's Spring/Summer '25 show, Creative Director Alessandro Dell'Acqua looked at photographs of '60s music groupies by Karlheinz Weinberger.

The result was an army of very chic modettes in hand-sequinned dresses, boxy jackets and pencil skirts, all styled with pointed slingback and ballet flats. A coral, duchesse-satin dress coat is now firmly on my wish list, along with the extra-long stripy scarves.

Fendi

Creative Director Kim Jones kicked off proceedings with a Spring/Summer 2025 collection that has me dreaming of Spring already. One thing is certain: sheer pieces aren't going anywhere. From the art deco-inspired, drop-waist sheer dresses to the bejewelled tops, sheer trousers and embroidered pencil skirts, sheer pieces accounted for half of the looks modelled on the catwalk. Elsewhere, pops of icy blue punctuated a subdued colour palette of beige, white and black, giving shirts and tailoring a fresh twist for Spring. An asymmetric scarf dress layered over satin trousers was a particular highlight.

Jil Sander

At Jil Sander, Creative Directors Lucie and Luke Meier created a collection that was strong and defiant – a reflection of how we want to dress in the current climate.

Frills and frippery were eschewed for sleek, boxy silhouettes and a whole lot of black and white. Loud pops of colour were delivered via graphic prints featuring neon lights, cars and motel rooms, taken from the photos of Greg Girard.

It was all gloriously wearable, and I can't quite get the starchy high-neck top and car-print pencil skirt look off my mind.

Alberta Ferretti

There's no denying Alberta Ferretti is queen of the diaphanous, gorgeously feminine chiffon dress – a piece that so many designers are trying their hand at as we find outside in the midst of a boho revival. Rather than rebel, the designer leant into what she does best with a collection of beautifully wispy dresses in white, petrol-blue and marigold-orange. And we're so glad she did.

For daytime, Ferretti turned to crisp cottons, crafting perfect shirt dresses and flirty, bubble-hem frocks that were styled with strappy flats. There were some lovely, loosely-tailored coords, too – a buttermilk-and-white striped short suit, and a slouchy shirt-and-trouser set in off-white. One wouldn't have trouble finding an opportunity to wear any of these looks.

Dolce and Gabbana

Channeling some of the most glamorous blondes, Dolce and Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2025 show was all things cone bras, silk, and pin-up dresses. With Madonna hereslf in attendance seemingly mouthing "I want everything" to the designers as they made their final walk. This show seamlessly weaved the sartorial elegance Milan Fashion Week is known for with classic pop culture references.

Models walking down the runway were seen paying homage to the singer's Blond Ambition era with bras peeking out of trench coats and plenty of cone bras. Other equally as dramatic pieces included pin stripe tailored suits with matching corsetry, and masterfully crafted signature sheer dresses. Drama, elegance, and glamour a plenty.

Versace

A different yet equally exciting take was seen at Versace's Spring/Summer 2025 show, where the '70s came in full swing. The brand, which is known for its evening wear take on glamour with sequins, cutouts, and a Milanese sexy allure, pared it back this season with muted tones of purple, brown, denim and red with some otherwise classic staples, including a masterfully 3D printed dress in a vivid yellow gold.

Tod's

Crafsmanship was a key focus for Tod's Spring/Summer 2025. With a live demonstration of 60 artisans showing how the Gomino shoe is assembled from start to finish. Drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean coast, creative director Matteo Tamburini chose to exemplify premium materials and sohisticated silhouettes that embody timeless elegance. Neutral hues paying homage to sand, grass, stones, and the ocean came to life in the form of parkas, trench coats, asymmetrical tops and cinched in jackets.

Diesel

Diesel and denim have a long history. Since the brand's inception in 1978, it has been working on elevating denim in different iterations, from distressing to micro lengths and fringing. This season, the brand decided to focus on circularity, a key focus for Diesel's future. Using 14,800 kilograms of denim scraps to create an immersive show that has since been cleared and repurposed, the brand focuses on the beauty of waste.

This season's offerings include sweatshirts, mini dresses, tank tops with distressed necklines and plenty of denim. Continuing with the theme of circularity, the brand also opted to use repurposed materials like archival Diesel bandana prints for draped knotted dresses and tops.

MM6

MM6 presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection with new-season offerings, including contemporary, pared-down neutral garments for the everyday person looking for classic, elevated pieces. The brand also featured key emblematic prints across T-shirts in backing of the original AIDS message, used to continue pushing for fashion's role in raising awarenessand creating support.

It may be raining in Milan but that hasn’t stopped the celebrities from stepping out for some of this season’s biggest shows including Max Mara, Alberta Ferretti and Fendi. And while we’ve been keeping our eye on the FROWs for fashion inspiration all fashion month long, Milan may have turned out some of our favourite looks yet. 

Ticking off all the big trends of the season, Iris Law braved a micro mini at Tom Ford, Lucy Hale rocked monochrome at Max Mara and the star studded front row at Prada, which included Gwendoline Christie, Trace Ellis Ross and Emma Watson, ticked off everything from preppy chic to spring approved pastels.

After New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, it's onto Milan Fashion Week for all the hottest trends we'll be wearing come Autumn/Winter 24. Here's all the latest, straight off the catwalk.

Roberto Cavalli

Although the took over the creative helms of the iconic Italian fashion House in October 2020, showing his first collection the following February, Fausto Puglisi symbolically declared this show as his first.

More specifically, he took a step away from the bold prints and colours Cavalli has been known for, not delving into this archives for this collection. Instead, he took inspiration from marble. Read our full review here.

Max Mara

After almost four decades at the helm of Max Mara, you'd think it would be hard for Creative Director Ian Griffiths to surprise us with his new creations, but that he did with his autumn/winter 24 collection.

Taking a major step back from the label's signature camel hue, he presented looks in a resolutely muted black, navy and grey colour palette, full of utilitarian and chic pieces. Read our full review.

Alberta Ferretti

Giving the current climate, it makes sense that designers are taking a pragmatic approach to dressing. But as Alberta Ferretti has long proved, it is possible for even the most ardent of realists to enjoy a little practical magic.

The house is known for its slip dresses, tailoring and draping, which were present here but reimagined in unexpected ways. Slips came rendered in the usual silk, but were also reworked in flannel and leather. There were suits and trousers with pinstripes illuminated by metal threads. Meanwhile, trompe-l'œil draping on liquid jersey dresses created a pleasing optical illusion. Read our full review here. 

Dolce and Gabbana 

Inspired by the tuxedo as the ultimate symbol of pure style, Dolce and Gabbana's AW2024 show explored the iconic piece and its relationship with women's power dressing. Using black as the signature colour of the collection with strong crystal embellishments to contrast the harsh lines and mystery that the colour imposes. 

With over 40 years of experience in women's tailoring, the tuxedo is deeply rooted in Dolce and Gabbana's heritage. Giving the piece an elevated, sensual reconstruction for their latest collection.

Bottega Veneta

This season, Bottega Veneta made a very convincing case for the mundane. Drawing inspiration from post-holiday exhaustion. Celebrating new life and rebirth, the brand proposes a collection that targets and celebrates everyday routines. Offering draped dresses, staple textured skirts, and structural silhouettes with a variety of tangerines, burgundy, and green.

Versace

For Versace's AW2024 collection, the brand decided to take an unexpected turn from their traditional Y2K early '00 classic aesthetic and borrow some inspiration from classic punk. Corseted dresses, see-through textures, and subtle draping followed suit with amongst dark shades of black, red, and sleek hues of nude. 

On the show notes, Donatella Versace refers to the collection as having a 'rebel attitude and a kind heart'. Targeting the good girl with a wild soul, The Versace girl is prim but sexy. And most definitely, not one to mess with.

La Double J

La DoubleJ's AW24 collection explores the transformative power of the Renaissance era. Celebrating Italian craft at its finest by using rich textures, refined silhouettes, and intricate embroideries to celebrate its global community and inspire them to personalise their wardrobes and elevate their everyday.

After some standout shows at London Fashion Week, it's over to Milan for the spring/summer collections from Italian designer heavyweights such as Prada, Max Mara and Fendi.

The top SS24 trends are starting to emerge, and we're seeing a lot of orange and monochrome looks, as well as plenty of deconstructed trench coats and biker jackets.

Fendi

Artistic Designer Kim Jones looked to the ancient ruins of Rome for inspiration for his SS24 collection. Details of the architecture were reflected in the structured silhouettes as well as the muted tones of grey and icy blue, lifted with pops of burnt orange.

Max Mara

No one does trench coats like Max Mara, and this season it takes centre stage in a variety of hues and fabrics such as purple and satin. The monochrome story we started seeing in London carried on on the Max Mara runway, with models donning chic white shirts, black maxi skirts and monochrome tailoring. There were of course still plenty of pops of colour, with pink, purple and green dominating the catwalk.

Roberto Cavalli

The Paradise Collection by Roberto Cavalli, designed by Fausto Puglisi is all about a 'triangulation of opposites'. Think three women with three different vibes, at the same party. Valentina Cortese with a scarf made of the same precious silk as her antique Japanese kimono, Bianca Jagger in a red slip dress, and Cher with suede pants sewn on, a bra instead of a shirt, and a New Mexico’s desert-colored trench.

There are sheer pink trench coats, ombre cargo pants, fringing and crochet details. Printed leather jeans and reversible kimonos that switch from feathers to polka dots. Wild and elegant at the same time.

Glenn Martens, creative director of Diesel, decided it was time to democratise Milan Fashion Week, and so he invited 7,000 people to the show, with 6,000 tickets open to the public. A collection that was all about partying as a way of life: think denim bustiers, sheer dresses and camo hoodies.

With London Fashion Week over, the style set jetted off to Milan this weekend to explore all the Italian city has to offer...sartorially speaking, that is. Between the A-list model casting (hello Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell) and the start-studded shows appearances (Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton, we're looking at you) Milan Fashion Week has certainly left us with a lot to talk about.

5 Must-See Moments from Milan Fashion Week:

1. Gucci's Twinsburg 

Creative Director Alessandro Michele credited his mother and her twin as the inspiration behind his S/S23 Gucci collection. Entitled Twinsburg, Michele managed to track down 68 sets of identical twins for the show, and dressed each set in identical outfits. What a way to make a statement.

“When we are many, we are much stronger,” Michele said of the collection at the post-show press conference. This collection certainly made you believe that.

2. Supermodel moments at Tod's

The opening and closing looks of any runway show are always considered key moments, and this season Tod's made sure its premiere and finale outfits were extremely memorable.

The brand tapped Carla Bruni to open its show and finished the collection with an appearance by none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell. Each model was dressed in a top to toe tonal look. Bruni was dressed in varying shades of beige, while Campbell donned a grey trench coat and trousers.

3. Kate Moss takes to the runway at Bottega Veneta 

Of course, the supermodel star power didn't end at Tod's. Bottega Veneta also tapped into the concept, as Kate Moss took to the runway for the buzzy Italian brand.

Strutting across the multicoloured catwalk, Moss wore a deceptively understated look. However, the outfit, which looked like a simple flannel shirt and denim jeans, was actually made from leather. Moss swanned across the runway with her quintessential effortless air. It was the perfect supermodel moment.

4. Paris Hilton closes Versace

Donatella Versace loves a showstopping runway moment. After all, who could forget the Spring 2020 show when she had Jennifer Lopez re-wear her iconic green dress? Or last year's runway when Dupa Lipa opened the show?

It's become somewhat of a Versace hallmark to include at least one celebrity appearance on the catwalk, and this season Donatella turned to one Ms Paris Hilton.

On the runway, the socialite wore a glittering pink mini dress, complete with a hot pink veil and her signature fingerless gloves. It should come as no surprise that Hilton DJed a party hosted by Versace later that night. That's hot.

5. Kim Kardashian teams up with Dolce & Gabbana 

Given that Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce recently "hosted" Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Scott's Portofino nuptials, it seems like a logical next step for the designers to have collaborated with younger sister Kim Kardashian.

For its S/s23 show, Dolce & Gabbana tasked Kardashian with curating her favourite looks from the brand's archive between the years of 1987 and 2007. The result was crystal-covered and corseted with leopard print aplenty. Several members of the Kardashian family were also seated front row at the show.
