Dr Sam’s Flawless Moisturiser Intense is a barrier-repair hero and everyday essential—“one of the gentlest yet most effective” formulas, according to Fiona Brackenbury—designed to hydrate, calm redness-prone skin without clogging pores, thanks to intelligent ingredients such as Sunflower Shoot Extract that restores NAD, as well as ceramides, probiotics and ectoin to soothe inflammation.

Medik8’s Advanced Pro-Collagen Peptide Cream is a gentle, deeply hydrating everyday moisturiser that quickly became a favourite among our judges. “I’ve been using this for a while and I love it… It’s the perfect everyday moisturiser,” said Yeomans, who praised its fragrance-free formula, zero irritation and added protective benefits. A reliable, comfortable daily option for skin that likes a little extra support.

Pixi’s DetoxifEYE Serum is a lightweight, affordable eye treatment that impressed our judges for both design and performance. Dr Hawkes praised it as “a well-designed, affordable product that works effectively,” highlighting its fast-absorbing texture that hydrates without heaviness and the metal roll-on applicator that delivers a refreshing cooling effect.

Skin+Me’s personalised Anti-Acne Treatment Cream impressed our judges for its effectiveness and accessibility. Lartey called it “one of the best things to ever come out of this industry,” noting how it “created access to acne treatments for so many of my clients.” Facialist and skin expert Debbie Thomas highlighted its custom-made formula, blending proven actives like tretinoin, azelaic acid, niacinamide and prescription-strength antibiotics, delivered in a clever twist-dose applicator.

Skin Rocks’ Hyperpigmentation Serum takes an innovative, holistic approach to one of skincare’s most stubborn concerns. As Jennifer Rock, Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judge and founder of The Skin Nerd, noted, it’s “a welcome delight for over-the-counter skincare,” addressing multiple pigment pathways with a preventive approach rather than relying on the traditional exfoliation-only route. Thank You Farmer’s Rice Pure Barrier Capsule Cream is a gentle, soothing formula designed to calm and support a compromised skin barrier. Dr Psomadakis praised its “great ingredients for sensitive skin to help calm an irritated skin barrier,” noting that it’s “a great option and not particularly greasy.”

The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream is a straightforward, effective formula powered by caffeine and peptides. Dr Hawkes described it as “a simple and effective option,” praising its lightweight, fragrance-free texture and affordability, making it an ideal starter eye cream for everyday use.

The Ordinary’s Sulfur 10% Powder-to-Cream Concentrate is a powder-to-cream treatment that calls upon sulfur’s clarifying benefits to help reduce excess oil, calm redness and target breakouts quickly and effectively. It's affordable, effective and fast-acting, making it a favourite among our judges and a smart addition to any targeted skincare routine.

Tower 28’s SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray is a smart, minimalist mist designed for stressed, red or breakout-prone skin. Powered by stabilised hypochlorous acid (an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial agent) it helps calm redness, support your skin barrier and soothe flare-ups.

Not only does this multitasking primer sit beautifully under makeup, delivering a hydration hit and instant blurring effect, but it's also packed with impressive skincare ingredients, including ectoin, bisabolol and niacinamide as well as SPF50. Makeup master Ruby Hammer also commended it for its lightweight texture, instant absorption and the fact it didn't leave a white cast on the skin.

"It also works perfectly under or over makeup," says skincare expert and Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judge Ola Awosika. "I love using it between steps for added glow, and it's officially earned a spot in my everyday routine!"

Erborian's CC Crème is iconic for a reason. It's rich in hyaluronic acid for up to 24 hours of hydration, while also providing a 'second skin' look with a subtle tint to even skin tone and boost glow. Makeup artist and judge Caroline Barnes gave it a high score for visibly improving the look and feel of skin. Wear alone for a natural look, or apply as a primer before makeup—either way, you'll get equally great results.

Laura Mercier's original Tinted Moisturiser is a firm favourite among beauty editors and skincare enthusiasts alike for its natural-looking coverage. Ruby Hammer agrees: "It feels wonderful on—lovely and dewy without being greasy or tacky."

The soft pink tint delivers a fresh flush that instantly perks up the complexion. “Its genius lies in how sleek and covetable it is—a light pink sheen that feels modern,” noted Madeleine Spencer.

The perfect choice for days when you want a no-makeup look with that ‘your skin, but better’ finish, this glowy skin tint is infused with hyaluronic acid for hydration, antioxidants to soothe, and vitamin E to protect and nourish. Available in a good range of shades, it can be applied as a sheer wash for a featherlight finish or layered for a little extra coverage.

If you're looking for a lip plumper with benefits, this formula uses jojoba seed oil and aloe vera extract to boost hydration while enhancing circulation for that coveted fuller-looking finish. The packaging features an innovative clicker that dispenses just the right amount of product to avoid wastage, and the formula delivers a gentle cooling effect on application (without the sting some plumpers are known for). Judge Madeleine Spencer was impressed by the high-shine gloss achieved with just one swipe, while Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe praised the accessible price point.

This product was an instant winner for so many reasons. It sets a new standard for makeup–skincare hybrids, combining powerful skincare science—including Augustinus Bader’s clinically tested TFC8 technology to support skin renewal—with filter-like tones that blur, brighten and add glow while still looking completely natural. Ruby Hammer noted that it left her skin feeling “incredible” and worked beautifully under makeup, while Caroline Barnes also praised how luxurious it felt to use.

Vieve founder Jamie Genevieve knows exactly what makes a good primer — after all, she’s a pro makeup artist. This formula is packed with 33 ingredients, including seven molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, plus peptides and ceramides to replenish moisture and lock in hydration. It preps the skin perfectly for makeup, leaving it supple, smooth and radiant. “It’s really lightweight and sits beautifully under makeup,” noted judge Sherrille Riley. “My skin always looks fresh and radiant after using it.”

But if your sticker stays clear, you're literally in the clear. They’re especially helpful for those who struggle to remember to reapply sunscreen or who underestimate the power of the sun," says our judge, skin expert Fiona Brackenbury. "I found the UV-sensing technology really effective. These stickers are a smart way to change behaviour around sun care and to highlight the importance of reapplication. Each pack contains 36 water-resistant, skin-safe UV protection stickers in a 12mm size.

This best-selling, plush lymphatic brush is well deserving of the praise it gets. Renowned for reducing puffiness, dark circles, as well as minimising fluid retention around the jowls, our judge and Marie Claire UK's Senior Beauty Editor says that it posits a "completely different approach". "It's very clever, as we so often put too much pressure on the lymph system, believing that's what's needed. This takes away the option."

Considering how hard our water is here in the UK, it's no wonder that filtered shower heads have been trending, thanks to their promise to cut frizz and soften skin and strands. The one from Curo was a cut above the rest, however. Of it, judge Andrew Donaldson-Wheatcroft said: " This is exceptional. I have tried a couple of these kinds of products in the past, but nothing has given instant results like this. My hair feels incredible, my skin feels incredible, and I never knew a shower head could provide such phenomenal results."

Not one but two of our judges praised Dr David Jack's Skin Cushion for providing intense hydration and recovery potential. Judge Donaldson-Wheatcroft said he used the cream after having filler and stated that it significantly helped with the downtime. Marie Claire UK's Beauty Editor, Nessa Humayun, adds: "It's so plush and indulgent, and the packaging looks luxurious on any countertop. But it's what's inside that really counts; packed with skin-boosting properties, this moisturiser leaves me feeling nourished, hydrated and plump."

Of Emma Lewisham's green efforts, Marie Claire UK's Health and Sustainability Editor, Ally Head, states: "Undeniably innovating and shaking up the space, this is the world’s first beauty brand to be 100% circular-designed and climate-positive certified - a huge achievement. The brand should be congratulated for its emission offsetting, 100% refillable packaging, take-back program for recycling, and transparency about its sustainability strategy, encouraging others in the industry to do the same."

This glow-boosting mist is enriched with Padina pavonica algae and helps replenish moisture post-cleansing to support the skin's overall health and resilience over time. Judge Donaldson-Wheatcroft declared it the "most perfect toning mist", saying: "The mist action is incredible, the distribution of the product is incredible, and the hydration is superb. One of, if not the best, mists I have ever tried."

"Certified vegan by The Vegan Society and cruelty‑free under PETA standards, Haruharu should be applauded for its FSC‑certified packaging and thoughtful eco‑design," says Head, Marie Claire UK's Health and Sustainability Editor, of haruharu wonder.

Winning in our Best New Brand category, Loya has re-imagined Swiss-engineered skincare for a new generation. Donna Ryan—facialist and educator—had nothing but praise for this natural balm from Neal's Yard Remedies. "The texture is gorgeous and rich but it melts beautifully into skin without leaving it greasy. The rose and botanical scent is divine (and not overwhelming), and I love how it nourishes and softens my skin deeply. Melatonin liposomes, sea fennel and neuro-peptides support collagen, alongside added resveratrol and amino acids to protect against free radicals and hydrate. It's a powerhouse in a bottle.

rhode's iconic Glazing Mist cemented it as "more" than another buzzy brand, and today, it still is the product du jour when it comes to getting that iconic "glazed doughnut" skin. Our judges were obsessed with how sheeny and dewy it leaves the skin, and it's great to have on the go, especially when you're travelling.

Not quite ready for more invasive measures? Well, RoC has you covered. Formulated with a whopping 25 per cent filling ingredients and hyaluronic acid filling spheres, which volumise on contact for instant fullness—plus, 48 hours of hydration; no dry lips here!

This innovative microneedling infusion kit takes the clinical and makes it doable for skincare aficionados, at home. Consultant oculoplastic surgeon, Dr Maryan Zamani, praised the technology: "It's very difficult to create, as I looked into this years ago. I also love the serums and the educational content. "The chilled under-eye treatment feels immediately soothing particularly for puffiness or post-treatment erythema, while the alternating LED cycles deliver a pleasant, low-intensity light exposure that can plausibly support collagen renewal, inflammation reduction and microvascular tone."

Dermatologists and make-up artists alike will tell you that no matter what you are applying to your eyes, be it eye cream or concealer, you must be wary, as the skin here is so much more delicate than the rest of your face. And the same must be said at the end of the day when you are cleansing that area. Whilst some might find a regular cleanser does the trick, this super-gentle patented ionized water removes even the most stubborn eye make-up gently.

If you're in the market for a hardworking, but mild hydrating cleanser then the Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judging panel would tell you to add this to your basket immediately. Enhanced with ceramides for barrier support, this is the perfect choice for winter or for those with dry or sensitive skin. Sherrille Riley, a beauty expert, praised the cleanser for leaving her skin feeling so nourished afterwards, "the creamy texture is really comforting."

Created by Harley Street dermatologist Dr Sam Bunting, this gel cleanser is one of the brand's bestsellers. Why? It's results-driven and results-achieved. Whilst all skin types can use it, those with combination and blemish-prone skin are the ones who will really see the difference. It's non-comedogenic, fragrance-free and created using the same gentle, non-irritating ingredients used in baby products. Judge and Skin Expert, Fiona Brackenbury, only had good things to say: "Dr Sam’s Flawless Cleanser is one of the gentlest yet most effective cleansers,  two qualities rarely found together when describing skincare. This intelligently formulated cleanser removes impurities without ever compromising the skin barrier, leaving the skin feeling instantly soft, never stripped, and thoroughly clean. A cleanser that truly respects the skin."

The key to a really brilliant oil cleanser is the slip and Celebrity Facialist, Michaella Bolder, noted how well Lisa Eldridge's Skin Enhancing Treatment Cleanser worked with her facial massage techniques. Which is just one of the intended uses of this clever product. It can, as you would imagine, be used to cleanse the skin or as a nourishing mask when left on the skin for twenty minutes or so.

Trust a K-Beauty skincare brand to launch such a clever cleanser as this. Yes, it's a cleansing balm, but not as you know it. "The soft, whipped texture melts dirt and grime fast," explains Ola Owasika. "The innovation lies in the grinding dispenser: hygienic, satisfying, and precise, it dispenses the perfect amount every time and adds a dash of fun to your routine." Oh, and you get all of that for under £20. Bravo.

This exfoliating cleanser was a knockout with the judges. "RAAIE Golden Nectar Mānuka Honey Enzyme Cleanser has me completely hooked," declares Fiona Brackenbury. "The blend of Mānuka honey, PHAs, and fruit enzymes leaves the complexion beautifully glowing, incredibly soft, and smooth and after just one use. I love the versatility of this cleanser." Marie Claire's Junior Shopping Editor, Amelia Yeomans, fell equally head over heels for it. "This cleanser is sooo beautiful, it's like an art piece," she says. "I used it both as a cleanser and mask, and its multi-use makes it well worth the price."

Despite other products launching and advancements in innovation, this cult exfoliator remains an industry and consumer favourite. Winning this year's award for best physical face scrub, Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant Enzyme Powder is a radiance-revealing marvel. Simply add water to the rice powder to activate its exfoliating ingredients. The formula works to even out pigmentation, get rid of complexion-dulling dead skin cells and leaves skin feeling super smooth.

What did the skincare world do before this chemical exfoliator existed? Ask anyone with blemish-prone and/ or oily skin about their number one product, and this will surely feature heavily. Aesthetic Doctor and Judge, Dr Sophie Shotter calls it a "standout leave-on exfoliant that balances high efficacy with gentle formulation." She praised its pared-back formula with few irritants, no fragrance and a well-controlled pH, which makes it well tolerated.

As beauty experts, we are often asked if essences are a necessary extra skincare step. Glass skin is super desirable, and it's all down to hydration and dewiness, which this lightweight and milky essence delivers by the bucketful. Not one of the judges regretted this as an extra step in their routines.

In K-Beauty we trust. This toner is yet another example of skincare done very, very well. Incorporating this into your routine means daily boosts of hydration and a barrier that is robust and able to perform to the best of it's ability. That's thanks, in part, to the high-performing nutrients found in a rice extract sourced from Gyodong Island in South Korea. Think of this as the supercharger for the products that follow. Dermatologist Dr Derrick Phillips loved using it, "It feels richly hydrating from the first application and leaves my skin soft, smooth, and slightly bouncy to the touch. It layers beautifully under serums and moisturiser, giving my skin that fresh, well-rested look."

Yes, as you would expect from the winner of the Best Hydrating Serum, it quenches dehydrated skin beautifully, but its peptide-powered formula means that it also helps with redness, protects skin against oxidation and stimulates the skin's natural repair processes. "This is just fabulous," exclaims Alice Hart-Davis, skin expert and founder of The Tweakments Guide. "I know, I know, it looks like another very expensive hydrating serum, but my goodness, the complexity of the formula and the quality of the ingredients. This serum is my absolute favourite because it makes my skin feel seriously good. I know the usefulness of the ingredients that are crammed in there, and it has become a favoured resident in my bathroom." High praise indeed.

This serum celebrated its 20th birthday this year, and it's still entering and continuing to win skincare awards. People love and trust the formula; it feels good on the skin and absorbs quickly. Alice Hart-Davis was seriously impressed with this affordable formula.

If you need proof this shampoo does what it says on the tin (bottle), consider the fact that two of the country’s most esteemed hairstylists commented on the notable shine this offers hair. Millennials may have thought they’d never see the day when ‘wet-to-dry’ styling tools made a comeback, but Dyson did it a couple of years back—and to much acclaim. Like many, Judge Nessa Humayun has been a fan of Revlon’s 5-in-1 styler for a while. “I’ve been using the Revlon hot brush for years; it’s affordable and does exactly what it says on the tin, at a much cheaper price point than other similar products,” she said. “The price and results can’t be beaten,” she added. Whether you want to dry, curl, smooth, shape or volumise, this tool is a brilliant option for versatile styling, with five interchangeable attachments. There are plenty of more expensive tools like this one on the market, which makes the results this offers so impressive. Judge and Hair Stylist Paul Edmonds described it as “amazingly great value for money,” and at just £60, you really can’t go wrong!

Growing up, I was so estranged from my coils, and it heals my heart to see my daughters nourish and care for their curls with products like this.” The beloved, sulphate-free formula takes a gentle approach to cleansing, while also providing hair a hit of moisture to reduce breakage. It’s also keratin-enriched, so my hair didn’t feel too dry or stripped, which can sometimes happen with strong purple shampoos.” Offering her expert tips, Cusick concludes: “For the lower price point, it’s a great purple shampoo that actually delivers. Just use sparingly, follow up with a good conditioner, and you’ll be on your way to that perfect cool blonde!”

Judge Nessa Humayun immediately noticed her hair feeling more voluminous after using this conditioner, and praised it for not stripping the hair or feeling heavy. Judge Nessa Humayun described this as a “solid conditioner” which “leaves hair soft, shiny and feeling hydrated.” And for £5, you can’t beat it price-wise (or for its Instagrammable packaging, either!).

If your beauty shelves are already packed full with hair sprays, oils and serums, it may be time to streamline. Enter: the Beauty Works 10-in-1 Miracle Spray, which does it all. Featuring argan and macadamia, the hydrating formula delivers on its promise to provide 10 benefits: the spray nourishes, eliminates frizz, restores shine, replenishes oils, protects from heat, detangles, conditions, prevents split ends, enhances natural body and repairs dry, damaged hair. Whether it’s millennial rose gold or cowboy copper, for decades now, Crazy Colour has been making dramatic, fun hair switch-ups possible—all from the comfort of your own home and for less than a tenner. Judge and Marie Claire's Beauty Editor, Nessa Humayun, praised its “very ergonomically comfortable design,” saying it was her “new go-to.” “[I] couldn’t live without it now. I trust it to comb through my hair when wet but not break it.”

Used by many sustainably-minded hair salons, Davines’ commitment to being planet-friendly has weight. The Italian-founded brand is now a B Corp and one of the most notable brands when it comes to a circular approach to creating beauty products. Its commitment to eco-friendly practices across its entire operation begins with sustainably sourced ingredients and applies right through to packaging and production, as well as the way the business is run through hiring practices and social responsibility. Most recently, the brand has advocated for regenerative organic agriculture and plans to be Net Zero by 2050. Oh, and its products are just really, really good.

Created by renowned stylist Gustav Fouché, this product started to take shape after years of research and development. If a natural formula is important to you, this is a brilliant option: silicone-free, with only natural and organic ingredients. It gently, yet effectively, cleanses without stripping the hair. Horsetail extract is used as its ‘hero’ ingredient for improving blood circulation and promoting healthy hair follicles, while natural plant collagen acacia repairs and moisturises the hair and scalp. Judge and Sustainable Salon Owner Gina Conway commented that her whole family loved this shampoo, particularly for its smell. “It did not leave a residue, nor did I feel like it over-cleansed,” she added.

Tropic, best known for its skincare offerings, also has a small-but-well-formed haircare line that consists of three wash products (two shampoos and a conditioner) as well as an oil. The collection harnesses the power of biodegradable ingredients that focus on nourishing and cleansing without stripping. These include plant butters, like Murumuru Butter, nourishing nut oils such as Babassu Extract, hydration heroes including Aloe Vera and plant protein Keratin. “I’m a big fan of Tropic’s 100% natural, pH-balanced and sulphate-free hair care range,” said judge and Marie Claire's Senior Sustainability Editor Ally Head. She added: “The products leave your hair silky soft and smelling great. Plus, I like that their ingredients are sustainably sourced and biodegradable.”

Beauty brands like REHAB. are really starting to deliver when it comes to solutions to our ‘plastic problem.’ These innovative Shampoo Sheets mean zero waste, and most importantly, no plastic bottles. The product not only honours sustainability through its packaging: the ingredients are all vegan and cruelty-free, with naturally-derived rosemary oil, olive oil and calendula oil taking centre stage. Environmental benefits aside, these deliver in efficacy, too. With an instant lather, the product feels great on the scalp and hair and offers a gentle but powerful cleanse. The sheets are also brilliant for travel, meaning more space in your luggage for the stuff that matters.

A leader in the organic haircare space, Odylique was one of the world’s first certified organic cosmetics brands, long before everyone else was doing it. In fact, not only are the products all organic, but they are also sulphate and silicone-free. There are five shampoos and three conditioners in the collection, with spotlighted ingredients including rosemary, lavender and chamomile. A lovely line to explore if organic ingredients are particularly important to you.

Good Wash Day’s eco-friendly towels aren’t made from terry or microfibre fabrics; instead created with organic jersey cotton, which is super kind and gentle to hair that’s wet and in its most vulnerable state. Reducing friction, frizz, damage and drying time, the towels are both highly absorbent and suitable for all hair types—in particular, curls. Adding to their sustainability credentials, Good Wash Day is an ethical business and also donates towels every month to those in the cancer community whose scalps can be sensitive and hair growth fragile. “I really loved this,” said Judge and Marie Claire's Social Media Editor, Dionne Brighton. “I have very long, thick hair and usually find that even towels with a tie-up don’t hold it securely, especially when it’s wet and at its heaviest. I was pleasantly surprised that this towel kept my hair in place and felt so lightweight and gentle. I also noticed it helped my hair dry quicker, which is always a bonus with thick hair.”

One of the most impressive things about the SheaMoisture + Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen is its ingredients list. Peppermint oil has been used to stimulate the scalp, leaving skin and hair feeling super refreshed and clean, while shea butter hydrates and nourishes. Jamaican Black Castor Oil has been harnessed for its strengthening benefits: used within this shampoo, it works to reduce breakage. The formula is also sulphate-free, cruelty-free and silicone-free, and ingredients used have been both ethically traded and sustainably produced, making it a brilliant all-rounder.

There are plenty of brilliant hair oils on the shelves, but how many do you know that are packaged in biodegradable capsules like REHAB.’s? The super smart concept is both planet-friendly and practical; each dose offers the perfect amount of oil per use, and the capsule can then be dropped into hot water to simply dissolve away without any fuss or excess packaging waste. Judge and Beauty Journalist Madeleine Spencer also noted how this makes the product super handy for travel. The formula itself is a winner, too; with avocado, sunflower, castor, and argan oils, along with vitamin E and shea butter, curls are left soft, bouncy and defined.

For hair that needs a little extra help, a pre-shower bonding treatment is recommended by trichologists and hairstylists alike. For the team of judges, Kérastase’s was the clear standout. “This product helped create a barrier after wash,” noted Trichologist Hannah Gaboardi, who said that she “especially recommended it for hair that is extremely damaged by chemical and heat damage.” The clever formula uses a concentration of 8% Pure Citric Acid and Glycine to rebuild broken keratin bonds in the hair, thus reducing breakage and leaving strands stronger, healthier and with more shine. Dull, dry hair, be gone.

Augustinus Bader nearly broke the internet when it first launched haircare (alongside its eponymous skincare collection), so it comes as no surprise that our judges loved this nourishing conditioner. Using the brand’s TFC8® complex, key nutrients are delivered to cells for renewal, meaning damaged hair is revived and given a new lease of life. Judge and Marie Claire Beauty Editor, Nessa Humayun, commented this had “wonderful texture,” and that it “left hair soft and nourished.” She noted that while the product is certainly an investment, it’s a worthy one. For hair that’s dehydrated or prone to breakage, this is the conditioner to get your hands on.

Innovative, frizz-fighting and super smart, FFØR’s The Liquid offers a new way to condition and treat. Working to smooth the hair cuticle, promote smoother, shinier strands and inject the hair with a hefty dose of antioxidants, this needs to be applied for just eight seconds in the shower, making it ideal for the time-poor amongst us. This was one of the key reasons Judge and Colourist, Sophia Hilton, liked this formula. “It would be easy to be consistent with this one,” she commented, before adding she was “pleasantly surprised” at just how moisturising this was for her hair after application. Fellow Judge and Make-up Artist, Olivia Rose, also noted it’s “a quick and innovative fix for dry or frizzy hair, leaving it looking healthy and shiny.”

Purple shampoos may be well and good, but sometimes you need more of a deeply intense toning for blonde hair—plus, regular purple shampoo use can occasionally result in buildup, meaning blondes can dull (pretty counterproductive). Instead, you may want to use the Rossano Ferretti Parma Splendido Purple Mask once a week, to top up cool tones and banish brassiness, while nourishing and hydrating (the mask uses shea butter, rice and soy protein to condition). The product uses up to 95% naturally-derived ingredients and is suitable for all types of bleached, coloured blondes or grey hair.

Judges Hannah Gaboardi and Hair Stylist Paul Percival couldn’t rate this product highly enough, with both commenting on its ability to noticeably strengthen the hair, as well as making strands shinier, more hydrated and increasingly moisturised. Designed for all hair types and textures, Fenty’s offering is like a one-stop-shop for damaged hair in need, with an ingredients list to impress even the most expert of hair stylists (think peptides, plant oils and fortifying proteins) and a texture that’s lightweight enough not to weigh down hair, while still nourishing and moisturising. If you colour your hair or often use heat on it, give The Comeback Kid a go (see, even the name is cool).

Want to perform your own self-care hair spa ritual from home? We’d recommend investing in the Flora Daily Detox Sensitive Scrub. At £78, it’s a treat, but one our judges fell in love with. Judge Jade Summers, consultant stylist and education director at Hare and Bone salon, said: “This mask is a perfect blend of scalp health and hair care, delivering a deep-cleansing yet nourishing treatment in one step. It effectively purifies while maintaining hydration.” Using a blend of salicylic acid to exfoliate, charcoal to absorb excess oil and Sapote oil to nourish, this is the perfect all-rounder for your everything shower.

The problem with plenty of at-home keratin products these days is the time they take; many are pre-shower, and you need to leave them in for hours on end. Not this one: the Rituals Elixir Hair Collection Keratin Hair Mask only needs to stay on for a mere five minutes in the shower—and our judges loved it. “[This was] my favourite mask out of them all,” said Sophia Hilton. “[It] smells amazing and I loved the consistency and results.” Olivia Rose added that it was both “easy to use” and “a must-have for repairing damage while keeping curls soft and defined.” Top marks all round, then.

With judge Sophia Hilton proclaiming this was “one of the best masks I tried,” Typebea’s G4 Hydra Gloss Treatment was a winner in our eyes. Designed for every hair type, it harnesses the power of a clinically-tested dose of biomimetic ceramide to reduce hair damage and prevent splitting, meaning healthier growth. There’s also a trio of nourishing ingredients packed into the formula, namely argan and avocado oils, and shea butter. “[This was a] great treatment for frizz control and deep nourishment, leaving my curls looking healthier than ever,” said fellow Judge Olivia Rose of the strengthening, hydrating mask.

A nourishing hair oil created by Beyoncé was only ever going to be fantastic—and judge Lollie King is a total convert. “This truly had me feeling like Queen Bey,” she said. “It’s a lesson in nourishment: hydration, tick. Growth, tick. [It] also absorbs really quickly and can be used on wet and dry hair.” Infused with 13 oils (sea buckthorn, baobab, moringa, black seed, castor, sunflower seed, watermelon seed, olive, sweet almond, flaxseed, golden jojoba, argan, and coconut), this reads like a ‘who’s who’ in trending ingredients. Leaving a natural shine, a soft-to-the-touch feel and a gorgeous, subtle fragrance, the Cécred Nourishing Hair Oil is a clear winner for myriad reasons.

Judge Jade Summers became a huge fan of the VEDIC LAB Sleep Recovery Scalp Elixir during her testing phase. "Before going to bed, this treatment soothed my irritated scalp, making it feel instantly calm and refreshed. It felt like a luxurious ritual for my nighttime routine, providing a moment of relaxation and self-care,” she explained. “Formulated with almond milk, it delivered gentle hydration and soothing benefits, making it perfect for sensitive scalps prone to dryness or irritation. The addition of ashwagandha, known for its ability to manage stress levels, helped create a holistic, calming experience, while the subtle, comforting scent made the entire routine feel relaxing before sleep, which I am sure contributes to the psychological de-stressing aspect.”

It’s hard to know which hair ‘growth’ products actually make a difference in haircare, and which are best to steer clear of. This one most certainly falls into the former category, according to our judges. “I have noticed increased hair growth while using this,” said Nessa Humayun. “It is non-greasy as advised, [a] truly innovative product and has great packaging and design.” The product uses clinically proven BaicapilTM, which penetrates the scalp to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. Enriching the hair with the brand’s beloved L’Eau Papier scent, this lightly-dispersed mist is a delight to use—and adds an extra little spark of joy into your day. Designed to be worn alongside other Diptyque perfumes, it’s the ideal fragrance layerer as it’s understated yet still beautiful. Judge and Salon Owner Nia Pettitt commented that “the scent is rich and lasts for a long time”. Her only complaint? “This needs to come in a bigger size as it will run out easily with how great it smells on the hair!”

Investing in a brilliant hairbrush is always a good idea, and while the Altesse Studio BEAUTÉ Repair & Shine hairbrush may be just that (an investment), it’s one our judges believe is a worthy one. French-made, this classic is created with Olive wood, which is a natural insulator used for its anti-static benefits. It features boar bristles to promote shine, strength and protection, and is made to last.

These days, we understand that healthy hair doesn’t just come from an effective product routine; taking real care of your strands with tools and accessories is a must. Silk accessories are in many ways elite; they are super gentle on the hair and lessen the risk of frizz, along with damage. Slip has always been a market leader in this category, and the brand’s skinny scrunchies are beloved by our judges. “The Slip scrunchies are my all-time favourites,” said judge and Marie Claire Social Media Editor, Dionne Brighton. “With super thick hair, I’ve never found a hair tie that didn’t leave a crease until these. They don’t cause a single hair to fall out or [cause] any breakage, and they hold my hair in place perfectly. They’re genuinely the only hair accessory I use now [and] with the new colour range, I just can’t fault them.”

The ultimate innovators in skincare, the people behind Skin+Me have now turned their attention to haircare, much to our delight. Designed by Consultant Dermatologists, each personalised formula is created following an in-depth online consultation based on each user’s hair growth and health needs. In particular, the brand’s Full Length Anti-Breakage Hard Water Shampoo has been specifically designed to detoxify the hair (without stripping it), neutralise harsh minerals to prevent breakage and of course, gently remove hard water that’s built up gradually over time. Judge and Marie Claire Beauty Editor, Nessa Humayun, said she felt like “this did a great job of cleaning hair but not stripping [it].” She added, “Anything to do with removing the impact of hard water is excellent in my opinion.”

For fine hair that’s blonde, our judges selected the Hello Klean Smooth Talk Anti-Fading Light Hair Conditioner as their favourite product. While many blonde shampoos and conditioners simply focus on brightening those brassy tones, Hello Klean’s specifically targets the cause: dulling effects from hard water. The violet-infused conditioner was a must-have for judge Katie Thomas, who commented that Hello Klean was a “really clever brand” for creating this.

A long-standing icon, the PHILIP B Peppermint Avocado Shampoo feels as good on the scalp as it smells to the nose. The refreshing cleanse is perfect for those who experience buildup at the scalp, thanks to its clarifying formula that features 2.3% pure peppermint oil and 16 botanical plant extracts. Judge Katie Thomas had never tried the shampoo before—and is now a total convert. “I was genuinely surprised by how much I loved this shampoo,” she said. “From the first wash, the cooling peppermint sensation was noticeable; I could really feel it working on my scalp,” she continued. “At first, I wondered if the tingly freshness was just a gimmick, but my hair felt noticeably cleaner for days after, without any residue or heaviness. It may be more of an investment for an everyday shampoo, but you’ll notice the difference with this one, making it worth every penny in our opinion.

One of the biggest concerns for those of us who colour our hair? Maintaining that colour while also preserving the health of our strands. One of a parent’s biggest nightmares has to be an outbreak of head lice, but these days, it doesn’t need to be a big deal, particularly when there are preventative measures you can now take. Brands such as Vosene Kids are making it more accessible than ever to repel the condition, and with ease. The brand’s Apple & Lemon Head Lice Defence Spray costs just £2 and features a blend of tea tree leaf, citronella and eucalyptus oil to keep head lice at bay. It also helps to detangle hair, and the pleasant scent makes it a joy to use for both adults and kids. Use it daily for peace of mind. "I get regular emails from my son's school and my daughter's nursery about headlice outbreaks, yet neither of them has ever been affected," says Judge Katie Thomas. "I have these two products to thank for that."

We all know that healthy hair begins from the inside, as well as having a well-rounded topical haircare routine to complement. This inside-out approach can be led by taking a balanced supplement targeted at hair health and growth. "I adore everything about this brand," says Marie Claire UK Executive Beauty Editor Shannon Lawlor. "From the scents to the formulas to the way it looks. Bravo!"

There are so many award-winners in Elemis's product roster and the 2024 Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judges have just added another one to the list. There was so much appreciation for the brand's Opal Skin Algae Complex, which helps to improve skin firmness. Skin Expert Fiona Brackenbury sums it up nicely when she says "This trio of marine microalgae is stunning and truly delivers results, initially the results you see is an unprecedented radiance and the longer lasting results start to show with continued use, the skin shows more energy, vibrancy and appears firmer and smoother. A beautiful effective serum and a joy to use."

So often when we think about skincare, we are looking for a solution to a problem. Orveda does things differently; it targets three aspects of skin - the present, the past and the future. The Omnipotent Concentrate addresses current concerns, it repairs damage done in the past and works to reinforce the skin's barrier to help it protect itself going forward. Judges Alice Hart-Davis, a journalist and author of The Tweakments Guide, and Shannon Lawlor gave the serum high marks for its biotech innovation, as well as its results.

Comfort Zone has always stood out to us as a leader in sustainability, it's parent brand Davines has won this same award in our Marie Claire UK Hair Awards. Paige Tracey commended the brand for "doing some great things on the sustainability front and it are involved in some great initiatives. I also like that it have tracked the data to back up its environmental improvements." The brand is B-Corp Certified, publishes an annual sustainability report, 100% certified plastic neutral and has a carbon offsetting project. Impressive.

Sustainable beauty has never been more of a hot topic within the industry. From plastic-free packaging, recycling schemes and ethical sourcing, brands are doing more in a bid to be kinder to our planet. And here at Marie Claire UK it is a subject close to our hearts and something we champion. However, as consumers we also want the product to be brilliant. Thankfully, Annabelle Minerals has created a beautiful powder foundation that covers all manner of blemishes and areas of discolouration without feeling too heavy on the skin. Paige Tracey, who is the business development manager for beauty, wellbeing and textiles at the Soil Association Certification, was full of compliments: "Not only has the brand formulated a foundation that provides me with coverage all day, which is formulated with natural mineral ingredients, it has also created a completely plastic-free refillable casement for it. This ticks the efficacy, innovation and environmental sustainability boxes. This brand is head and shoulders above so many others."

In what is becoming a rather saturated area of the industry, it requires something special to stand out in the LED face mask arena. Omnilux's Contour Face did just that. "This is a very well priced and effective LED mask with a good number of clinical studies," says Aesthetic Doctor, Dr David Jack. He adds that it's comfortable to wear thanks to its clever flexible contoured material.

Déesse PRO Sculpta is the ultimate triple threat. It utilises electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), radio frequency (RF) and red LED light therapy to improve facial definition, boost circulation and aid lymphatic drainage. "It might look like every other sculpting tool on the market," says Marie Claire UK's Senior Beauty Editor Katie Thomas. "But it is so much more. With regular use (and quite a bit of practice) I was amazed at the results."

Once you've dermaplaned, you never look back. And if you're going to do it, this smart one from Hollywood Browzer is the one to do it with. Using sonic technology, this device removes dullness-causing peach fuzz, dead skin cells and build-up on the skin. Shannon Lawlor, Marie Claire UK's resident dermaplaning expert says, "I love dermaplaning and this made it more fun." Skin looks instantly glowier.

And Begin is a brand designed specifically for mid-life skin. Formulated by dermatologists the products contain active ingredients that are completely personalised to the consumer's needs. This Serum-in-a-Cream contains Tretinoin - a prescription only retinoid; azelaic acid - a hardworking antioxidant; Matrixyl® 3000 - a skin-repairing peptide complex; and ectoin - a moisture-barrier supporter. "This feels so fresh and clean and glides onto my face beautifully," says Judge Karen Williams, a fashion and lifestyle stylist. "I'm so impressed with this in every way. The consistency is like butter, the smell is divine, the formulation is impressive and the packaging is a 10/10." Katie Thomas is a huge fan of the brand and this product: "This brand is a true disruptor in all the best ways. The concept is clever and forward-thinking and is the future of personalised skincare."

"This is what people with rosacea are calling out for," high praise from Judge Rose Gallagher, a journalist and content creator who has rosacea. She commends Beauty Pie's gel moisturiser for its formulation and low price point, but it's the effects that have her truly hooked. "I really like this and am so glad that Beauty Pie is helping to democratise the treatment of rosacea. It's no easy feat making an azelaic with a desirable texture. Well done."

What a clever concept the Tri-Balm is. Perfect for home (and away) this solid balm transforms into a rich oil when you work it into skin. Formulated with a blend of botanical oils, it's nourishing enough to leave on as a moisturiser. Master Facialist Michaella Bolder calls it "a really great product with multiple uses. I love how easy it is to take on holiday with me and I actually love to use it as an overnight balm to nourish my skin." Consultant Dermatologist Dr Thivi Maruthappu is also a fan: "I just love this multitasking project, it's really quite clever and works so well for travel."

This lip tint proves that sun protection needn't be dull. Not only does this beautiful lip balm protect the delicate lip skin from the sun, but it's also nourishing, softens and comes in three stunning wearable shades: Camelia - a soft red; Plum Blossom - a petal pink; and Midnight Lily - a muddy berry. " Such a chic product," says Katie Thomas. "I love the idea of wearing a pop of colour on my lip that also protects. Camelia is a rich pinky-toned rouge that I already carry with me at all times. A beautiful essential."

All of Ulé's products contain ingredients that come from plants grown in its eco farm in France. That includes its patent-pending extract Pure Botany™ Tincture 514 found in its Glow Power Serum. This extract has quite the impressive roster of actives - natural vitamin C, algae extract and Astaxanthin, an antioxidant that is 6000x stronger than vitamin C. Together they stimulate collagen production, encourage skin cell renewal and boost the skin's defence against free radical damage. And the judges were impressed. "This came as a big surprise," says Margo Marrone, pharmacist and co-owner of The Organic Pharmacy. "It has a fantastic formula, great texture and impressive ingredients. This cream charmed the Marie Claire UK judges. Sherille Murphy, a beauty entrepreneur and expert, says: "This cream is amazing. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and nourished, and it's all down to natural ingredients." Those ingredients are hydrating hyaluronic acid, vegan collagen that boosts skin firmness and vine resveratrol - extracted from grapes from the brand's own vineyard - that offers up a powerful antioxidant protection.

Combination skin is tricky to look after. Some areas are dry and rough and crave rich nourishment, whereas others are oily and need rebalancing. Charlotte Tilbury's original Magic Cream is iconic, but its rich texture isn't for everyone. Those with combination skin will love the Water Cream version. It's lighter, but still hydrating, and it has niacinamide which helps to reduce the appearance of pores and help control oil production. Shannon Lawlor was seriously impressed, "I surprisingly love this stuff with my whole heart. I think it delivers ample moisture and is excellent at boosting glow."

Altrient uses a liposomal delivery method for its vitamin C supplement, which is scientifically proven to carry vitamin C directly to the cells. Judge Dr Thivi Maruthappu liked what she saw, "this is an excellent quality vitamin C with a unique liposomal delivery." As a consultant dermatologist, she praised the brand for delivering the antioxidant this way as it helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and boosts skin radiance.

Entering the menopausal stage of life can feel overwhelming, which is why the increased number of products aimed at supporting women and their needs during this time is fantastic. One of those products is Kollo Health's Premium Liquid Meno Support. This supplement contains a blend of vitamins B6, B9, D, magnesium, hyaluronic acid and botanicals. Together these work to help ease some of women's biggest complaints about the menopause - hormonal imbalance, tiredness and exhaustion, unpredictable moods and brain fog.

Positive Science People's Collavegan uses a plant-based formula with an amino-acid profile that's the same as a human's. Our judges agreed that the vegan alternative was effective and the packaging more sustainable than heavier liquids. "This is a really good alternative to animal collagen with a similar amino acid profile and additional antioxidants," says Dr David Jack. Similarly, Medical and Cosmetic Doctor, Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe likes that there are other vitamins/minerals within the formulation to help with hydration and elasticity, strengthening nails and making hair look glossy and healthy.

Sure, you could use a simple micellar water - and there are times when that's all that the skin needs - but then you could also use once that's formulated with barrier-supporting niacinamide, brightening vitamin C and anti-inflammatory cucumber extract. Angelina George's Micellar Toner Cleanser is a luxurious first step of your evening routine and the judges love it.

As beauty experts, we often talk about how sensitive the skin around our eyes is and yet a lot of us are still able to use any old micellar water or cleanser with no repercussions. However, if you find that you're prone to tightness and irritation this gentle eye make-up remover may just change your approach to cleansing. "This was a joy to use," says Katie Thomas. "It removed every last scrap of eye make-up - I found that the best way was to hold a soaked cotton pad over a closed lid for a while before removing worked a treat."

This cleansing balm first launched in 2009 and it remains at the top of its game in 2024. "It’s the perfect consistency," says Master Facialist and Skincare Expert, Michaella Bolder who knows a thing or two about oil-based skincare products. "And it's has the ideal balance of scent, texture and make-up removal." Donna Ryan, a holistic skin expert, also appreciated the way that it can be used for facial massage, but noted that those with sensitive eyes should probably use a gentle eye make-up remover instead of this fragranced balm.

As a make-up artist, Charlotte Tilbury knows that good make-up starts with a good skincare routine, which is why alongside her incredible make-up line her skincare range is just as effective. This cream-to-foam-to-milk cleanser is packed full of hydrating hyaluronic acid and peptides, which help skin do everything from improve tone, firmness, moisture levels, and the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Gel cleansers work beautifully for those with oily skin who crave that squeaky clean feel, but don't want to strip their skin of natural moisture. And they don't come much better than Tatcha's The Matcha Cleanse. A luxurious formula, where a little goes a long way, this moisturises as it cleans and leaves skin looking naturally dewy. Paige Tracey, of the Soil Association, was complimentary about the impressive amount of natural actives, coix seed and willow bark, used in the formulation.

Sculpted By Aimee's DuoCleanse is an innovative cleanser - there are three to choose from Cleanse & Brighten, Cleanse & Exfoliate and Cleanse & Clarify. Each one has the Gentle Cleanser on one side that removes make-up, SPF and the day's grime, then on the other side a targeted active second cleanser. Teresa Tarmey and Make-up artist and Journalist Madeleine Spencer both praised the effective and clever cleaning system.

There are two types of people - those that like an active exfoliator that uses chemical or enzymatic ingredients and those that prefer the feeling of a physical scrub. This clever product from Ren combines the three seamlessly. "I absolutely adore this," says Marie Claire UK's Executive Beauty Editor, Shannon Lawlor. "It really gets to work on my dull congested skin, and I love the fact it utilises gentler PHAs to do the work. Love, love, love."

When skin is dehydrated it looks lacklustre and fine lines are more apparent, so any product that claims to be the best at hydrating should counteract all of these side effects. We think Content Creator and judge Ola Awosika's review sums up perfectly why this Bioeffect mask has been awarded the best: "This was such a pleasure to use and delivered on all the things I want from a mask: hydrating, easy to apply, and works well with the next products. In fact my skin was so dewy I even cut down on the next steps!"

When you have dry and/or dehydrated skin, you make sure that every product you apply to your skin helps to boost your moisture and hydration levels. And whilst some people don't deem toners to be essential, when one works as brilliantly as this Byoma one does at doing just that, thanks to the clever Byoma Barrier Lipid complex, it becomes a vital step. "Skin feels instantly comforted, supported and hydrated," says Skincare Expert Fiona Brackenbury. "It's the perfect product after cleansing to help achieve long-lasting hydration."

An absolute essential step in any skincare routine, vitamin C serums are an incredible way of brightening the skin and providing antioxidant protection. Alice Hart-Davis had only positive things to say about Skin + Me's new Brighten + Boost Fiming Vitamin C Serum. "Great ingredients (Vit C blend with ascorbic acid) in a formula put together with dermatologists and beefed up with collagen-boosting peptides. Good stuff."

Alongside neutralising free radicals, particularly from pollution and UV rays, antioxidants also help to minimise skin degradation that naturally occurs as we age. Chanel's N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Serum harnesses the power of the red camellia flower to improve elasticity, the look of visible pores and fine lines and adds brightness. Marie Claire UK's Senior Beauty Editor, Katie Thomas, was a big fan of how it applied: "It has a beautiful silky texture, that sinks into the skin incredibly quickly. I also noticed the instant radiance boost, which was impressive, to say the least." Aesthetic Doctor Sophie Shotter was complimentary about the formula and its effects "Camelia Japonica is a great ingredient and I really liked the effect of the serum."

Don't be fooled by its playful exterior, this hydrating moisturiser was praised by judges for its effectiveness at nourishing rough and flaky skin, as well as soothing tightness and leaving behind a glowy complexion. Judges and Make-up Artists Ruby Hammer and Caroline Barnes, both commented on the brilliance of the pump dispenser: "LOVE the packaging and dispenser," says Ruby. "It works brilliantly! I would definitely recommend this moisturiser."

The needs of mature skin are great - as we age our skin cells don't perform as well, which is why the dreaded "visible signs of ageing" occur. Seabody's moisturiser is a supercharged biotech cream that reinforces the skin barrier, boosts luminosity and helps diffuse the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. "It has a lovely thick mousse texture," says Skincare Expert Marie Reynolds. "It boosts hydration and is cooling and soothing to the skin."

"A little pocket rocket of a facial oil," high praise indeed from Karen Williams, a fashion and lifestyle stylist. "I could see the effects after a few days of using, especially around the eyes. It smells great, looks great, and the packaging is spot on." Esse's Protect Oil is formulated with Ximenia Oil, which works particularly well on sensitive skin to hydrate and improve elasticity and firmness. Michaella Bolder, who knows a thing or two about face oils through her work as a master facialist, also gave it high marks.

Estée Lauder is a master of nighttime skincare so when the brand launches a new night cream you take notice. The judges seemed to think the same, as they awarded this Bounce Creme top marks. "I take my hat off to Estée Lauder for the ingenuity with which it consistently develops and improves its much-loved night-care products," says Alice Hart-Davis, founder of The Tweakments Guide. "The brand claims that your skin's bounce and firmness will improve overnight and I can say that after using for a couple of weeks, I noticed it looked perkier," says Katie Thomas.

IRÄYE is a rather clever brand - it uses a special LYMPHACTIVE™ Complex to activate the lymphatic system to tackle inflammation, puffiness and accelerated ageing. "There are many great eye creams on the market but nothing can compete with this," exclaims Skincare and Beauty Influencer Andrew Wheatcroft. "The science and the technology make this a stand out product." Teresa Tarmey, an award-winning facialist, says that she trusts the science and has seen an improvement in the eye area after using this eye cream.

Housed inside this fun round tub is an eye cream that the judges were fond of. With a potent ingredient list of peptides and antioxidants, clinical trials reported 100% improvement of dark circles after 28 days of use. "A well made, and well thought out cream," says Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Founder of The Soni Clinic, Dr Ash Soni.

"A great neck cream needs to be gentle on the skin but have active ingredients that pack a punch," says Dr Ifeoma Ejikeme, founder and medical director at Adonia Medical Clinic. "And this delivers on both." RéVive's Fermitif Neck Renewal Serum Firming Treatment has an impressive formula that reads like an A-List who's who of tightening ingredients. It's expensive, but effective.

The best SPF product is one that's a pleasure to use. One that's it's tacky to the touch, leaves the skin looking and feeling good and never leaves behind a white cast. This facial sunscreen from Naked Sundays ticks all the boxes for the judges this year. "It absorbs really well, isn't greasy (which is a huge plus for sunscreens especially if you have an oilier skin type) and is completely clear on the skin," says Consultant Dermatologist Dr Cristina Psomadakis.

"Even on a completely no make-up day this makes me feel more put together," says Journalist and Make-up Artist, Rose Gallagher of our award-winning lip balm. Sure, you could carry around any old lip balm on a day-to-day basis, but when you use something as much as you do a lip balm, why wouldn't you want to use something as chic as Dior Beauty's Dior Addict Lip Glow? Promising 24 hours of hydration, this smoothing balm comes in Universal Transparent or 13 tinted shades. Donna Ryan, a holistic skin expert says, "It feels so lightweight and silky, without any stickiness, and keeps my lips feeling soft and smooth all day. The packaging is elegant and luxurious. If you’re looking for a lip product that combines colour, care, and a touch of luxury, this is it.

Some people don't mind the idea of serum layering, others want to use one product that does it all - or at least as much as possible. Element Eight's innovative niacinamide serum helps to improve skin hydration, brightness, firmness, clarity, texture and tone, as well as the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots and pores. Quite the brag. It's helped along in its endeavour by the brand's own Oxygen Amplified Therapy, which it uses in all of its products. Melanie Grant, skin expert, was very impressed: "An innovative treatment serum that literally breathes life back into the skin. Brightening, refining and purifying. Leaves the skin looking and feeling awake."

iS Clinical is one of those brands that you find on the shelves of dermatologist clinics - so already you know it's a brand you can trust, because the skin experts do too. So it will come as no surprise that two of of our highly esteemed skin awards judges praise its Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3. Cosmetic Doctor, Dr Ahmed El Muntasar, a.k.a. The Aesthetic Doctor declares it "a very effective product, lovely results after just a couple of weeks," and Aesthetic Practitioner Dr Sarah Tonks claims that "you cannot argue with iS Clinical".

15 years in the making, No7's Future Renew range launched last year and quickly garnered a huge fanbase. This year our judges have joined the ranks, having been incredibly impressed by the Damage Reversal Serum which contains the brands "super peptide" blend - said to aid the skin in repairing itself. Dr Ahmed El Muntasar says: "Great product with fabulous results. A very scientific approach when it comes to supporting the claims."

A modern icon, Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops have impressed beauty lovers for years and now the Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judges are equally pleased with the results. "I really love these," says Marie Claire UK's Executive Beauty Editor Shannon Lawlor. "And I know so many others who do too." This multi-tasking and hydrating serum evens out skin tone to create a clear and bright canvas, whilst also adding a dewiness to the skin.

4.5.6 Skin is a brand developed with skin phototypes four, five and six in mind, as they produce melanin differently to lighter skin tones. This serum helps regulate pigmentation with a potent, but gentle, mixture of actives that don't aggravate or inflame the skin. Skin Expert Debbie Thomas and Facial Aesthetics Doctor, Dr Maryam Zamani both praised this innovative new product and its impressive, considered ingredients list. When you use a face mask, generally you want instant results. You want to look perkier than you did before you applied. This does that and then some. After 10 minutes (ample time to make a coffee and have a quick scroll) skin looks glowier and more hydrated. But it's the regular use that makes this mask stand out. The appearance of fine lines is diffused, creases practically vanish and skin just appears happier and bouncier.

Facials are effective, but expensive. A facial with celebrity-favourite and LA-based skin expert Kate Somerville? Not exactly doable mid-week. This is the next best thing. Consider this a facial in a tube. In just a couple of minutes, this treatment mask - formulated with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), lactic acid and pumpkin, pineapple and papaya enzymes - nibble away at dead skin cells to reveal a luminous complexion underneath. Be wary - it's punchy, so stick to the recommended time. Thankfully there's honey, vitamin E and aloe vera in there too to soothe. "No notes - simply transformative," says Katie Thomas, Marie Claire UK's senior beauty editor.

When skin is looking a little dull, it's tempting to reach for make-up products with luminous finishes. However, dullness is often the result of a congested complexion. Niod's Flavanone Mud contains copper-rich clay, which draws impurities out of the pores and deeply cleanses the skin. Excess oil, dirt, and pollution are washed away when you remove the mask and what's left is a natural looking radiance. "It seems odd applying mud to your face to help deep clean," says Katie Thomas. "But boy does it help decongest. For me personally, I like to apply it to targeted areas where my pores are larger and I tend to get blemishes, rather than all over the face."

It doesn't matter your skin type, we all seek happy, radiant skin. Susanne Kaufmann's Glow Mask has been a beauty editor favourite for many years. A combination of papaya enzyme and raspberry fruit extract gently sloughs away the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, newer and, crucially, glowing skin below. "Yes it's an exfoliator," says Katie Thomas. "But it's a gentle one that doesn't strip the skin or cause irritation."

A compromised barrier is often the root cause of so many of our skin issues and it is a problem that, with the right tools, is easily fixed. This cream makes up one impressive tool kit. Formulated with ceramides, essential to a happy and healthy epidermis, as well as a blend containing hydrating and soothing alpha glucan, zinc to combat redness and copper gluconate to minimise the appearance of pores and mattify. Nausheen Quershi, an award-winning skincare biochemist, says, "This was a big-hitter in terms of efficacy and feeling on the skin. I felt my skin was protected and hydrated. Red and sensitive patches are reduced and the scent is neutral and calming. The formula contains interesting actives which are super innovative in this category. The packaging is fun and thoughtful. A real pleasure to use."

When you have highly reactive skin finding skincare that soothes, calms and never irritates is like locating the Holy Grail. Dr Ash Soni, a plastic surgeon, and Dr Thivi Maruthappu, a consultant dermatologist, couldn't have sung the praises of Cetaphil's Daily Hydrating Moisturiser more. "It is so well made and has the science behind it," says Dr Soni. "It really works for all skin types, including sensitive skin and my patients love it. Simple, yet so effective." Dr Maruthappu agrees, "You can’t go wrong with this - simple, effective, budget friendly. It just works."

Those with eczema have a severely compromised skin barrier and any products they use should support and protect that barrier. Only those with rosacea truly know when a product designed to help with their symptoms is working. This is why we sent this product to those with the skin condition. Rose Gallagher, a make-up artist and journalist with rosacea who uses her platform to raise awareness of the condition and share her most successful tried and tested products, was pleased with the results of this treatment. "I really like the texture of this moisturiser and the fact that it has been formulated with such a high percentage of azelaic acid," she says. Skin + Me has been quite the industry disruptor - in a very good way. It offers personalised skincare at affordable prices. The Daily Doser is its everyday serum and targets breakouts and visible pores and contains just the right amount of azelaic acid to help control excess oil, prevent new blemishes and calm irritation. "I noticed results really quickly," says Holistic Skincare Expert Donna Ryan. "My skin looked more glowy and sun damage had improved."

In Caroline Hirons we trust. Thank goodness she finally decided to launch her own product range. As you'd expect, the products work and the judges deem The Control Acid an award winning toner for acne-prone skin. "I adore everything about this," says Shannon Lawlor. "It has made me rediscover my love for a great toner." Penny Goldstone, Marie Claire UK's contributing fashion editor says that her skin feels smoother and clearer, with fewer blackheads and blemishes. "My skin feels less oily too. I like the fact that it’s unscented and not drying."

Gone are the days when applying a lip plumper would feel like you'd eaten an entire bowl of Ghost Chillis. Soaddicted's Lip Enhancer uses spearmint extract, so there is a mild tingling, but the formula also contains peptides, collagen and hyaluronic acid for natural-looking fuller lips. "This was very pleasant to use, with charming packaging," says Skin Expert and Dermo-pharmacist Colette Haydon.

Have you ever seen prettier packaging?! This bottle is so chic that you'd be forgiven for popping it on a shelf as decoration, forgetting all about what's inside. However, that would be a huge mistake as the juice inside is heavenly. A lightweight oil, that absorbs quickly and smells better than most consumer fragrances. "A stunningly fragranced light body oil that felt luxurious and decadent," says Ola Awosika, a content creator. "This was such a pleasure to put on and left skin with a subtle, non-greasy glow. The scent got so many compliments too."

Retinoids have proved so successful in facial skincare, that it was only a matter of time before body care wanted in on the action. Formulated with 0.1% retinol and 10% AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) this targeted treatment helps encourage cell turnover to improve the appearance of scarring, spots and crepiness. "Gives skin a new lease of life. Big thumbs up from me," says Marie Claire UK's Editor, Sunil Makan.

Much like a nice thick pair of tights and a warm woollen coat, no one should head into the depths of winter without an enveloping body cream. And for years Laura Mercier's gourmand scented body creams have been many people's first choice. "This is a masterclass in luxury body skincare," says Ola Awosika. "This serum body cream is rich, silky and hydrating with an elegant fragrance that lingers on the skin. Laura Mercier never disappoints when it comes to beauty and bodycare." Global Make-up Artist, Ruby Hammer, loved it so much, that she went out and bought the matching shower gel, "It's fragranced enough that I didn’t need to use a perfume with it, plus it feels great on the skin."

Muscle relief is an often overlooked category that deserves more attention. We're exercising more now than ever and whilst cold plunges and rest are remedies, so too are massages and nourishing products that work to relieve aches. A blend of a Hebridean seaweed extract, eucalyptus, may chang, peppermint and rose geranium help to stimulate and increase circulation to aid muscle recovery. Andrea Thompson, Marie Claire UK's editor-in-chief and a keen runner gave it top marks.

When you think of the reasons to use a hand cream, most of us would say it's about trying to combat dryness. Which of course is important, but when we protect the rest of our face and body with SPF, we often neglect our hands. Which is why Hello Sunday's The One For Your Hands is so brilliant. "[Your hands are] one of the first places to show sun damage and accelerated ageing," says Skin Expert and Facialist Melanie Grant. "A clever product that nourishes and hydrates whilst also protecting one of the most vulnerable areas from the sun. A no brainer."

Every single dermatologist and skin expert you speak to waxes lyrical about the importance of wearing sun protection every day. When you live in the UK, that tends to refer mostly to your face. However, when the summer rolls around or we're headed off on a hot holiday, we need to bring out the big guns that offer efficient protection for our bodies. Call us fickle, but it's also nice to use a cream that actually feels nice. This sun cream from E45 is exactly that product. In the past you might have spent a good while thinking about which sun cream to take on holiday with you, to then chunk any old tube of after sun in as an afterthought. Well, we're here to tell you that going forward, this is the only one worthy of consideration. "I'm not naturally a sun worshipper," says Katie Thomas. "In fact, my skin rather hates the sun, but I swear that if I use my SPF properly and apply Lancaster's Tan Maximiser After Sun every evening I never burn and rather than turning pink, I look healthy, glowy and sunlit."

There are so many great things about this exfoliator - the fact that it smells like a niche fragrance (think leafy citrus, without the sharpness) or that it's been designed as a pre-shaving treatment - sloughing away dead skin, oil and dirt - but is gentle enough for those with sensitive skin. "It looks smart on my bathroom shelf too," says Marie Claire UK's Senior Beauty Editor, Katie Thomas. "Not that that should matter, but my goodness it helps."

A returning champion to the Marie Claire UK Skin Awards. There's a reason it's a multi-award winner: it nourishes the skin beautifully, inside the shower and after rinsing and leaves behind a rich, creamy scent. Sunil Makan and Executive Beauty Editor Shannon Lawlor couldn't have had better praise for it, with Shannon remarking: "This is, hands down, the best shower product in existence. It has been around for years, and I am yet to come across a better smelling, more softening product."

There are your run-of-the-mill shower gels and then there are Molton Brown Shower Gels, which smell so beautiful that you are transported for a brief moment. Who says that "bath people" get to have all the fun?! Showers can be just as spoiling, just as calming (or uplifting if that's what's needed) and just as good at helping you reconnect with yourself at the end (or beginning) of the day. Neom - known for being the bathing brand (its bath soaks and candles are synonymous with bathtime) has created arguably the most pampering shower gel in existence, which Katie Thomas described as "simply beautiful". And we have on good authority that her husband is rather keen too, exclaiming "that shower gel you've put in the bathroom is the best thing I've ever used."

Is there anything better than dropping yourself into a hot bath at the end of the long day and forgetting about everything else going on outside of the bathroom walls? In order to do that you need a bath oil to help you on your way. Susanne Kaufmann's Bath for the Senses combines a blend of ylang-ylang, patchouli and lavender, which as well as being aromatherapeutic is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Don't take our word for it though, take Marie Claire UK's resident bathing expert, Shannon Lawlor's: "No one does baths like Susanne Kaufmann. This product smells unbelievably good, doesn’t leave skin or bath overly oily and is so carefully crafted, using sustainable production methods, that I consider it one of the best bath soaks ever made."

What's that? It's suddenly sunny and you need to look bronzed immediately, if not sooner? In that case, you need a really brilliant instant tan and the Marie Claire UK Skin Awards judges have deemed this the very best one to reach for. "I love the richness of the colour that it gives - not too dark, but just the right amount of bronze," says Katie Thomas. "And crucially, it dries quickly so you could get dressed quickly afterwards." Formulated with jojoba oil and vitamin E it drenches the skin with nourishment, as well as tan.

A good gradual tan is one that you can feel comfortable enough swapping it in for your every day body lotion - one that keeps your skin healthy, whilst also adding a subtle wash of colour. This Gradual Tan, from trusted French skincare brand Gatineau, does exactly that. It utilises coconut oil and vitamin E to hydrate, soothe and protect the skin before delivering a buildable, sunkissed tan. Rose Gallagher, a make-up artist and journalist, couldn't be more of a fan: "This is my favourite gradual tan I have ever used," she says. "What I love about this is that although it does give a decent layer of tan even with one coat, it seems to be virtually impossible to make a mess of. Hydrating, silky, fast absorbing, leaves a lovely golden glow, I honestly think this is an incredible product that I will happily repurchase again and again."

This tanning spray is the closest you are going to get to an at-home spray tan. The nozzle allows for better, more accurate application of the super fine mist, it's quick to develop, yet long-lasting. "This is a fantastic tanning product that I have recommended to so many people," says Katie Thomas.

We could tell you that this speedy self-tan mousse allows you to swipe - easily, thanks to the handy guide colour - and go because it develops in just 30 minutes. And all of this is true. But we're going to let Katie Thomas do the talking: "This is hands down the best fake tan I've ever used. The greatest of all time. I’ve never met a mousse I loved more. Why? The guide colour, the speedy development time and, of course, the golden tan it leaves behind. Top marks."

Chronic dry lips beware, you have met your match. Quench thirsty lips and prepare them for other lip products with Lip Glowy Balm by Laneige - a brand known for its impeccable hydrating products. "It feels densely hydrating in the moment, but also makes lips feel more at ease after use," says Rose Gallagher. "I love it. It works beautifully as a skincare step, but I also enjoyed using this as a part of my make-up routine too."

There are those people who manage a nail appointment every two to three weeks, and then there are the rest of us. This very clever oil nourishes the nail beds, whilst also nibbling away at the old cuticles. And if that wasn't enough, it also helps neutralise staining, making the nails look healthier than ever.
