As the 2026 Oscars wraps up for another year, all eyes have been on the famous faces that line the seats in the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The 98th Academy Awards saw the likes Amy Madigan pick up the Best Supporting Actress for her performance inWeapons, while Sean Penn won the Best Supporting Actor statuette - although he wasn't actually there to pick it up. Despite going viral earlier this year for smoking at the Golden Globes, he missed the Oscars with The New York Times reporting that he had "headed to Europe" instead.

Another A-lister that was notably missing was Margot Robbie. Despite the recent success of Wuthering Heights, which she both starred in and produced, Margot wasn't spotted on the 2026 Oscars red carpet and was also absent from the auditorium. So why wasn't Margot at the Academy Awards this year?

The last time Margot attended the Oscars was in 2024, when Barbie was nominated for Best Picture - although, controversially, its director Greta Gerwig was snubbed from the Best Director category. Additionally, Margot wasn't nominated for Best Actress, but Ryan Gosling was shortlisted for the Best Supporting Actor award.

Back in September, she opened up about motherhood in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She said: "It’s funny. If you try to explain it to someone who has kids, you don’t need to because they get it. And if they don’t, it’s probably just really boring to hear. So, you’re just kind of like, 'It’s the best.'"

"Wuthering Heights" is the most talked-about film of the moment, with Emerald Fennell's polarising new adaptation already becoming a box-office hit.

The 2026 release is inspired by Emily Brontë's 1847 gothic romance novel, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as tragic lovers, Cathy and Heathcliff.

And from its "primal" and "sexual" focus, to the "Wuthering Heights" corset fashion revival, the long-awaited release, written and directed by Fennell, is all anyone has been talking about.

It is a particularly controversial scene from the new adaptation that made headlines this week, with Fennell's interpretation featuring themes of sadomasochism.

One scene in question sees Heathcliff [Jacob Elordi] and Isabella [Alison Oliver] engage in BDSM, with Isabella seen wearing a dog collar and sitting on all fours, acting like a dog during a role play.

And while its inclusion has proven divisive with viewers, both Elordi and Oliver have defended the scene, reflecting on the importance of the moment to the plot.

"That was so much fun, that scene," Elordi explained to Entertainment Weekly. "I think that was Emerald kind of taking the killing of the dog and these really dark parts of the novel and putting them into this scene.

"I had so much fun because it's at that point that Isabella and Heathcliff are completely off the deep end," he continued. "They're living in a kind of hell, you know?"

"It's the moment that his obsession clicks over into something else – into a rabid desperation – and he loses any semblance of composure. It's a nice point for the character, I think."

"I remember [Fennell] saying something really interesting about like, 'Because [Isabella is] actually quite a repressed person, and because she's been so infantilised, anything that is repressed, when it comes out, it's messy and unorganised,'" added Oliver.

"And she's in a very unknown, strange, different place. A lot of that was just playing out the mess of the new place that she's in."

"There’s an enormous amount of sadomasochism in this book," Fennell explained at the 2025 Brontë Women’s Writing festival, while defending her adaptation. "There’s a reason people were deeply shocked by it.”

"No one is [going to be] in agreement about any element of it”, she later added of her 2026 adaptation. "I can’t make something for everyone.”

First, let’s delve into Emerald’s decision to wrap the title of her Brontë reboot in quotation marks. Naturally, she’s been asked about it several times during the press tour (which also provided fans with some unexpectedly gushy Margot and Jacob moments).

Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that “Wuthering Heights” does have differences from the novel - and isn't an exact adaptation by any means. The director claims it's her own remembering of the story, with a liberal helping of her own imagination - including a healthy dose of what she wished had happened in the 1847 classic.

"The thing for me is that you can’t adapt a book as dense and complicated and difficult as this book. I can’t say I’m making Wuthering Heights. It’s not possible," she told Fandango.

Emerald, who also directed Saltburn, continued to explain, "What I can say is I’m making a version of it. There’s a version that I remembered reading that isn’t quite real. Like many people who love this book, I’m kind of fanatical about it, so I knew right from the get-go I couldn’t ever hope to make anything that could even encompass the greatness of this book. All I could do was make a movie that made me feel the way the book made me feel."

Why are the costumes in “Wuthering Heights” historically inaccurate?

When the world was treated to first release images of the “Wuthering Heights” costumes, there was instant controversy. During the film, Margot Robbie appears on screen as Cathy Earnshaw in a mixture of historically inaccurate dresses - from a red latex corset to a shimmering puff-sleeved wedding gown, and an iridescent tulle number. Is the plot of “Wuthering Heights” different from the book?

While the general plot of Cathy and Heathcliff’s beloved love story has been maintained for the “Wuthering Heights”, we don’t know exactly how many details of the original novel have been tweaked for Emerald’s adaptation. What we do know is that the film is far raunchier than the book, with erotically charged sex scenes set to heavily feature. Comparing the racier take to the book, Margot emphasised just how much the kissing has been ramped up in an interview, stating: "They never really kissed in the book, but we kiss a lot. We kiss everywhere."

The casting of Jacob and Margot as the famous “Wuthering Heights” pair isn’t totally reflective of the characters in the book, either, which hasn't gone unnoticed. We might only be in the second month of the year (yes, I know, really), but already a style—certainly not a new one—is emerging as a key fashion silhouette. It is, of course, the corset—a Minoan invention, though mostly associated with the Victorian era and all its attendant rigidity—which quite literally reshaped women’s bodies (and internal organs, if we’re being graphically honest) to fit society’s neat categories.

It’s precisely this legacy that makes the corset so much more than a garment. It has always been a signal of power—first through the enforced dress codes of its time, later as a way for women to reclaim agency and challenge its own history. Whichever way you slice it—or, should I say, lace it—the corset makes a statement about power, and more specifically, who has it. Power and dominance pulses throughout Emerald Fennel’s Wuthering Heights and no where has the corset renaissance felt more loaded—and lauded—than in the film’s press tour. Margot Robbie’s many ‘tourdrobe’ looks have leaned heavily on, if not historical accuracy, then at least historical inspiration.

Today’s revival mirrors just that: sculpted waists, luxe fabrics, high-drama silhouettes that imply a lot of time has been dedicated to dressing up. For Margot Robbie, who of course, looks sensational, this is part of her job, and so there is a distinction here: she is working these events even if her uniform looks markedly different to mine and yours.

It’s a claim Kim Kardashian made when she was laced into a couture corset rewoven from antique silver brocade by Maison Margiela’s John Galliano for the 2024 Met Gala — a look that cinched her waist to dramatic extremes. Kardashian’s relationship with corsetry (going as far back as those waist-trainers and Hervé Léger bandage dresses) is trickier to get behind, but there’s no denying that it’s a strategic one. Whether that’s through red‑carpet dressing (and the press attention she knows it’ll bring) or the commercialisation of her — also press‑generating — shapewear empire, Kim Kardashian makes body sculpting incredibly profitable.

Then there’s Alexander McQueen’s sculptural armour, and Dilara Fındıkoğlu’s raw, confrontational bodices: designers have continually transformed corsetry into a language of control, spectacle, and self-authorship.

Of course, the tension remains. Corsets still carry the weight of unrealistic body ideals and restrictive histories, and not everyone reads their return as progress, especially against a backdrop of Ozempic-fuelled thinness. But fashion has always thrived in contradiction. It’s in that space—between reclamation and discomfort, glamour and unease—that the corset currently sits.

Regardless of personal preference—though the general consensus seems to be that the Wuthering Heights press tour has delivered Barbie-level sartorial hysteria—the resurgence of such a historically loaded garment in an era of widening inequality and renewed scrutiny of women’s bodies offers a telling reflection. The corset continues to ask: who among us gets to be decorative, who gets to be powerful, and who decides the difference.

Margot Robbie's hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett—who was responsible for her Barbie looks—and this time around, he stayed true to the brief, so the gothic romance of Emily Bronte's seminal novel.

There have been many looks, but our favourite has to be the cascading, long mermaid-esque waves, which were completed with a half-updo and face-framing layers.

"It’s a romantic and youthful look that is soft and whimsical, and gives the look of energy and dimension in the Hair," comments hairstylist Tom Smith. "It’s popular now because of a desire for more structured and natural-looking texture in the hair, a focus on longer and fluid haircuts, shapes, and subtly multidimensional colour, all of which are made to look better with this specific type of S wave."

Smith explains that this look would have been achieved using a triple-barrel waver like GHD's Wave Triple Barrel Hair Waver. "Stylers like this make it quite easy to achieve. When a professional would execute this, they would direct key sections in different directions to make sure the result looked more natural and less like a mermaid imitation."

He continues: "A good trick to achieve this look at home is to take diagonal sections rather than horizontal ones. This creates a more modern look and reduces the risk of dents or lines across the hair. Take care to lift each section out, tipping your head to one side to make things easier, and gradually work down each strand, holding for a few seconds before moving on.

"For best results, prep the hair with a protective styling spray; my current favourite is K18 Heat Bounce. For extra definition when finished, use a dry texture spray.

If you really want the exact look, Poppy Saunders, Remi Cachet Super Stylist of the Year, says that hair extensions are a great hack. "These waves are all about fluid movement and softness through the mid-lengths and ends. Extensions allow you to create that cascading, mermaid effect without overworking the natural hair, which is especially important for keeping the look modern rather than overly styled." Plus, there's the longevity factor: "Because extensions don’t need to be washed as frequently as natural hair, the style actually lasts longer. There’s less disruption to the wave pattern, so the hair holds that lived-in texture for days rather than hours."

As reported by E! News, Margot headed to a beach on the Gold Coast of Australia on Saturday with her husband Tom Ackerley and some friends, but apparently without her son.

The filmmaker couple welcomed their little one on 17 October 2024, having first revealed their pregnancy to the world in July.

In 2016, Margot had opened up about her desire to have children in an interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph.

"I want TONS of children. Well, maybe not too many," she said at the time. "I grew up in a family of four [kids], so that sounds like a good number. We’ll see what happens; no time soon. I know that once I have kids, they’ll be my priority, so I want to do the family thing later."

So far, things have panned out according to Margot's predictions — she waited a while to have her first child, and has had some incredible career achievements in the meantime, including hit roles in Barbie, I, Tonya, and Suicide Squad.

Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie, has already caused more than its fair share of controversy despite the fact that filming hasn't even wrapped yet.

The latest element of the production to cause a stir is Margot, who plays Catherine Earnshaw, in a wedding dress. Photos of the star wearing the gown have been popping up online over the last few days, and the dress in question is an extra poofy, off-the-shoulder white number, complete with a cathedral veil and tiara. People appear to be taking issue with the dress given that's it's white, as apparently, the tradition of a white wedding dress wouldn't have come around until after the story took place.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, people seemed particularly incensed by it. One person wrote: "Seeing Margot Robbie as Catherine from Wuthering Heights in that godawful dress just ruined my entire week."

Another wrote: "Begging people in historical movies and shows to realise white wedding dresses where made the norm in the VICTORIAN ERA. Wuthering Heights is set in the Georgian Era no one was wearing white dresses for a wedding."

Others took issue with the style with one person writing: "More yelling about this bc not only is the white wedding dress wrong from the get but what the HELL is going on with that neckline."

So it's pretty clear that the fans aren't quite on board with the styling at this point.

This is just the latest complaint people have about Emerald Fennell's take on the Emily Brontë novel. When it was first announced, many fans of the original story took issue with Margot Robbie's age as her character Catherine famously dies at 18 years old. Other were unhappy that Jacob Elordi has been cast as Heathcliff, even though Emily Brontë explicitly describes him as "dark-skinned" in the novel,

The Barbie star, who recently gave birth to her first child with husband Tom Ackerley, has spoken about how she taps into her emotions on set - and it includes listening to a very specific piece of music. During a teaser for her upcoming appearance on the Talking Pictures: A Movie Memories Podcast, Margot explained that whenever she needs to cry for a scene, she'll listen to the Titanic soundtrack. She explained: "I can even just hear the theme music of Titanic, and I’ll be bawling. And so that’s what I do on set if I need to cry in a scene."

But it also became a slightly 'surreal' ritual for Margot when she was filming The Wolf of Wall Street opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, who had launched his Hollywood career after playing Jack Dawson in Titanic fifteen years earlier. In the interview, Margot said that she was listening to the haunting melody on set moments before bumping into Leo in the hallway - and he also happened to be with none other than Kate Winslet.

Margot said: "On Wolf of Wall Street, there was the big, crazy scene after I ask for a divorce and stuff. And Kate Winslet came to visit set, to visit Leo that day. I was in the room next to them, listening to the Titanic soundtrack trying to stay in sad, teary mode. And then I saw Kate Winslet and Leo walk past. It was very surreal."

In 2023, Margot spoke about the more unusual acting techniques she has used in the past, including 'animal exercises' to prep her for Barbie. She told Variety: "I was maybe 45 minutes into pretending to be a flamingo or whatever, and I was suddenly like, 'It’s not working. The animal isn’t helping me with Barbie. I don’t know how to find her.'"

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi were just announced as the newest Cathy and Heathcliff for an upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, and people have extremely conflicting feelings about their casting.

Margot and Jacob are set to star in the movie, which will be directed, written and produced by Emerald Fennell, according to a report by Variety. The film will begin production in 2025, and will be shot in the UK.

As you may know, Jacob has worked with Emerald before, having starred in her previous film Saltburn. But Margot was also involved in that film behind the scenes, and was credited as a producer for the 2023 flick.

When social media users caught wind of the two Australian actors' casting, a fierce debate ensued online — with many people fairly unhappy with the choice of leading actors.

"So, we have Margot Robbie playing a girl who dies at 19, and Jacob Elordi playing a character whose treatment in the narrative is directly tied to his racial ambiguity/not whiteness, have I got that right?" commented one X user.

"I love Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, and Emerald Fennell––but this is A CHOICE," observed writer Sophie Vershbow.

"no hate to margot robbie and jacob elordi but neither of them have enough Psychologically Tortured vibes to play cathy and heathcliff. like a wuthering heights adaptation simply needs actors who are weirder," said someone else.

And it wasn't just fans who were, shall we say, taken off guard by the casting choice: the pros were right there with them.

TV and film critic Gavia Baker-Whitelaw wrote on X, "white Heathcliff and 34-year-old Cathy, and they both look like they belong on instagram.... im obsessed. emerald fennell does it again [derogatory]."

And film critic Clarisse Loughrey asked the poignant question: "did anyone actually read the book before deciding this"

As we're sure you remember from your school days, Wuthering Heights is an 1847 novel by Emily Brontë, which follows the dark tale of star-crossed lovers Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.

In just a few short weeks, the biggest names in Hollywood will gather at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 96th Academy Awards. The Oscars 2024 nominations list includes some familiar films and faces, with Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon sweeping up at the Golden Globes and the Baftas, while Cillian Murphy and Emma Stone have already pocketed some big wins. 

However, the nominations list wasn't without controversy this year. Many noted that Barbie - Greta Gerwig's record-breaking movie of last summer - was notably absent from the Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role categories. While Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and the movie has been nominated for Best Picture, fans felt let down that Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig did not receive individual nods. Following the nominations announcement, Ryan even released a statement noting that he was disappointed his colleagues weren't personally recognised, and Margot later responded to the backlash. 

During an interview with Deadline, she said: "There's no way to feel sad when you know you're this blessed. Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films."

And it seems that Greta shares a similar sentiment. Although she was thrilled with the nominations Barbie did receive, she admits she 'wanted it for Margot'. In an interview with Time magazine, Greta said: "A friend's mum said to me, 'I can’t believe you didn’t get nominated.' I said, 'But I did. I got an Oscar nomination.' She was like, 'Oh, that's wonderful for you!' I was like, 'I know!'

"Of course I wanted it for Margot. But I’m just happy we all get to be there together."

The Oscars 2024 will take place on 10th March at 11pm GMT. 

As the 77th British Academy Film Awards took place in London this evening, celebrities from across the globe walked down the Baftas red carpet and watched the likes of Cillian Murphy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Mia McKenna-Bruce earn their way onto the Baftas 2024 winners list. 

The guest list included the Prince of Wales - who made an unexpected comment about wife Kate's absence this year - as well as some of the biggest names in Hollywood; Ryan Gosling, Florence Pugh and Cate Blanchett were among the A-listers lining the seats in the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre.

At some recent award shows, cameras have managed to capture the celebrities interacting with one another. At the Golden Globes just last month, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were given the lip reader treatment after their cute PDA, and Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez went viral after they were seen animatedly telling one another stories.

But now Margot Robbie and Emma Stone have taken the title for best celebrity expressions as the pair were photographed gossiping on the red carpet ahead of the Baftas ceremony - and the picture are brilliant. As Margot and Emma caught up, the Poor Things actor can be seen gasping at whatever the Barbie star has told her, holding her necklace as she listens intently to the story, and widening her eyes. 

The hilarious photos have quickly gone viral on social media, with fans of the pair weighing in on what they may have been talking about. 

One person wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Emma Stone is all of us when meeting Margot Robbie."

Another added: "Gossip is good, you know?"

Margot Robbie has broken her silence about her Oscars "snub" over Barbie.

In case you missed this whole saga, Margot wasn't nominated for best actress in the prestigious Academy Awards, and Barbie's director, Greta Gerwig, was also passed over for best director.

Many people expressed their deep disappointment over this decision, especially considering the cultural impact the film has had, and the fact that it was nominated in the best feature category — making it a little odd that its director didn't also receive the accolade.

But although many people decried Margot being "snubbed," the actress herself is absolutely fine about it.

"There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed," she recently told Deadline.

When it comes to Greta, though, Margot feels a little differently.

"Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films," the actress added.

Still, she said, she's "beyond ecstatic that we’ve got eight Academy Award nominations, it’s so wild."

Margot is also well aware of just how much of a cultural impact Barbie has had in the few months before and after it was released.

"We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact," she said.

"And it’s already done that, and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this."

When the Oscars nominations were announced a couple of weeks ago, fans immediately began criticising the Academy for what they saw as a snub, with many taking to social media to air their discontent.

Even Ryan Gosling, who played the principal Ken and was nominated in the best supporting actor category, put out a statement expressing his disappointment.

"There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film," Ryan said.

Regardless, we're glad Margot isn't letting this get her down.

The highly anticipated Oscars nominations were announced this week, and while some were expected - Oppenheimer is up for 13 awards, while Poor Things is just behind with 11. However, it's the Barbie nominations that have really had the internet talking. 

The film scored 8 nominations, which includes a nod in the Best Picture category, and a handful of the film's stars are in the running for statuettes for their performances; America Ferrera is up for Best Supporting Actress, and Ryan Gosling is nominated for Best Supporting Actor. However, Margot Robbie was missing from the Best Actress list, and director Greta Gerwig was not nominated in the Best Director category. 

It caused outrage online from fans of the film who were shocked that two of the key players behind Barbie - which was both a box office hit, raking in $1.4bn globally, and a cultural phenomenon -  were not recognised for their work, with one person on X (formerly Twitter) explaining: "Greta Gerwig made a film that was critically acclaimed, culturally impactful, hilarious, unique, visually exceptional, perfectly cast and acted, left people laughing, crying and thinking AND made a billion dollars at the box office. But no Best Director nom."

Now, Ryan Gosling has called out his colleagues' Oscars snub in a statement, writing: "I am extremely honoured to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honoured and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.

"But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.

"Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognised along with the other very deserving nominees. Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film."

Co-star America Ferrera also expressed her disappointment in an interview with Variety, explaining: "Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list."

She added: "What Margot achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable. One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy, but Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen, and it was one of the honours of my career to get to witness her pull off the amazing performance she did."

The 2024 Oscars nominations are out, and neither star and executive producer Margot Robbie nor director Greta Gerwig were nominated.

This has left fans absolutely livid, especially considering that Barbie received a nod for best picture, and that America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling both received nominations for supporting actor/actress.

People felt it was especially ironic that Ryan should be nominated over Margot, based on a film that critiqued the patriarchy in no uncertain terms.

"Ryan Gosling, while deserving, got an Oscar nomination for Barbie while Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie didn’t? Completely proving the point of the movie in 20 f***ing 24 you cannot make this up," tweeted one disappointed fan.

"Wait Ryan Gosling got nominated for his role as Ken, but Margot Robbie didn't get nominated for Barbie?! And Greta got snubbed for Best Director?!?!" agreed another. "Way to justify the literal plot of the movie @TheAcademy"

Others pointed out that it was kind of odd for the film to be nominated for best picture but for its director not to get an acknowledgement for creating the film in the first place (frankly, we can't argue with that logic).

"So Greta Gerwig created one of the most original films of the decade, one that completely blew apart people’s expectations of what a #Barbie movie could be & resonated with millions … yet apparently that’s not *quite* worth a nomination for best director???" wrote another angry fan.

"Greta Gerwig made a film that was critically acclaimed, culturally impactful, hilarious, unique, visually exceptional, perfectly cast and acted, left people laughing, crying and thinking AND made a billion dollars at the box office. But no Best Director nom?!" added someone else.

Luckily, Greta and Margot have been honoured elsewhere, including at the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards.

Still, this year again, it looks like the Academy didn't *quite* read the room when it came to deciding on nominations. Oh well, better luck next time!

Margot Robbie is set to take a break from acting after her incredibly successful (and no doubt exhausting) lead role in Greta Gerwig's Barbie. The film was a phenomenal success, raking in over $1 billion globally just weeks after its release, not to mention breaking records to become the highest-grossing film directed by a woman. 

As well as being a huge box office hit, Barbie had one of the most successful movie marketing campaigns of all time. Last summer, Barbiecore was inescapable - adverts, posters and merch were everywhere - and now Margot claims that 'everyone's probably sick of the sight' of her and that she should 'probably disappear from screens for a while'.

She told Deadline in a recent interview that she won't be appearing in front of the cameras anytime soon, explaining: "This is the longest I haven't acted on a set because we finished Barbie in October of 2022. So, it's already been more than a year since I was on set as an actor, and other than Covid, that's the first time that's ever happened. Everyone’s like, ‘Are you having a break?’ And I’m like, ‘You do know I’m a producer, right? We don’t get a break'."

The Wolf of Wall Street star then added: "I also think everyone’s probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while. Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say: 'Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We’re over it.' I don’t know what I’ll do next, but I hope it’s a little while away."

But Margot won't be leaving the industry altogether. She's already doing great things behind the scenes with her company LuckyChap Entertainment which is behind one of the most-talked-about movies in recent months - Saltburn. Her company was also involved with writer and director Emerald Fennell's first film, Promising Young Woman, in 2020.

As well as keeping her producing hat on, Margot has her sights set on directing. She explained to Deadline: "I’ve always seen it as a privilege, not a right. I’ve been slowly working towards the feeling that I’ve earned the right to direct, and I feel I’m getting close to that feeling now.

"I’m not in any rush, because I feel that there’ll never be enough time to learn all the things I want to learn before I take that plunge, but I definitely have that itch, and it’s growing too strong. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to hold off."

It's no surprise that brands are already capitalising on the success of the film. But one bit of merch we hadn't bargained for was a candle that smells like Jacob Elordi's bathwater. 

Not only is it available to buy, but this rather unique candle has made its way to the Golden Globes red carpet, and wafted under the nose of Barbie superstar Margot Robbie. 

Entertainment Tonight presented one of the candles to Margot and her Barbie co-star America Ferrera on their way into the awards event on Sunday (7th January, 2024), asking Margot what she thought of the scent. 

"I haven't even seen it [Saltburn] yet, that is amazing," Margot told the reporter, before sniffing the product. The Barbie actor then continued: "Mm, smells just like Jacob Elordi's bathwater. So accurate."

Viewers of the video were confused by just how Margot knows what Jacob Elordi's bathwater smells like, writing: "How [does] she know?" on X (formerly Twitter). Margot didn't elaborate on the comments further.

This summer Barbie fever had well and truly gripped the planet, with Greta Gerwig's movie about the plastic fantastic doll smashing records and leaving its own cultural print on the world. As well as becoming the highest-grossing movie from a female director, it inspired a number of fashion trends (ahem, Barbiecore), had women everywhere relating to America Ferrera's impassioned speech, and just about everyone who saw it couldn't stop saying 'sublime'. 

Since the moment the film landed in cinemas in July, fans have been calling for a sequel. In August, Gerwig spoke to the New York Times about the possibility of bringing Barbie back to the silver screen for a follow-up but admitted she was 'at zero' when it came to thinking of another movie. According to an additional report in The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling - who played Barbie and Ken in the blockbuster - were not contracted to return for another instalment.

Now, Margot has spoken about the potential Barbie sequel in an interview with the The Associated Press. Given that she didn't confirm or deny that she would be a part of it if it were to happen, it has sparked fresh hope that part two may well come in the future. 

Discussing the calls for a Barbie sequel, Margot said: "I think we put everything into this one. We didn't, like, we didn't build it to be a trilogy or something. It was like Greta put everything into this movie, so I can't imagine what would be next."

The actor also shared why she thought it was 'important' that people don't assume that films with female leads can't be wildly successful, adding: "And just because there's a female lead doesn't mean it's not going to hit all four quadrants, which is, you know, I think a misconception that a lot of people still have.

"So it's really important that Barbie did well. As much as it is nice, it's also really important that it does well so people can also in future have big original ideas and be given the budget to execute them properly."

Well, it's not a firm no - so we'll continue holding onto hope that it'll happen...

Since Britney Spears' memoir was released last month, the popstar has dominated headlines. In her highly anticipated tell-all The Woman In Me, Britney spoke about her life in her own words for the first time, discussing everything from the breakdown of her relationship with Justin Timberlake in the early nougties, to her heartbreak over terminating a pregnancy when she was 19, to what she experienced behind the scenes during her thirteen year conservatorship.

Shortly after the book's release, Britney teased that she would be writing a follow-up memoir after reports that it had sold over 1 million copies in the first week of sales - making it the second-fastest debut of 2023 after Prince Harry's memoir, Spare. Given its huge early success, there were reports that the memoir would be turned into a film, with Deadline claiming that buyers in Hollywood were already trying to secure the rights to give it the silver screen treatment. 

And it seems that it's not just the usual LA power players who are trying to buy the rights to the memoir. According to The Ankler, a number of A-listers are throwing their hat in the ring to pay for the rights to turn the memoir into a movie. Those include Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes, all of whom are reportedly open to bidding in the 'mid-eight figures' for it. 

Margot Robbie, who is best known for her acting roles in Barbie and The Wolf of Wall Street, owns her own production company named LuckyChap Productions. Similarly, Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt is the founder of Plan B Entertainment, while Reese Witherspoon has produced a number of critically acclaimed film adaptations, including Wild and Where The Crawdad Sings, through her company, Hello Sunshine. 

Shonda Rhimes is reportedly in the running, too. She famously runs Shondaland Productions which has brought the likes of Grey's Anatomy and Bridgerton to the small screen, and actually wrote the screenplay for Britney's 2002 film Crossroads. 

According to an insider, no decisions have been made and no meetings have been scheduled just yet, with the source telling the publication: "She doesn't give a shit who you are. She's always been that way. It's just Britney."

Will Britney's memoir be hitting the big screen sometime soon? We'll have to wait and see...

Barbie fever has showed no signs of slowing down since the film's release this summer. 

Greta Gerwig's cinematic telling of the iconic Mattel doll has broken records, grossed over $1 billion globally and, undeniably, caused something of a cultural movement with Barbiecore dominating trends across fashion, beauty and even baby names. 

Whether it's that Margot Robbie has some feelings about not kissing Ryan Gosling, the fact that Ken's funniest line was improvised or America Ferrera's viral and empowering speech, fans of the film have been eagerly dissecting every key moment (and all of the hidden easter eggs, too). 

However, many of them are only just realising that Ferrera's real-life husband actually stars in the Barbie movie, too. 

In the film, she plays Gloria - a Mattel employee who grew up loving all things Barbie. Alongside her daughter Sasha, she heads over to Barbieland - and if you still haven't seen it, we won't spoil it for you. 

Gloria's husband appears less than a handful of times, but he charmed audiences during his brief moments on screen - particularly with his sweet attempt to learn Spanish.

And it turns out, the actor who plays him - Ryan Piers Williams - is actually Ferrera's husband outside of the Barbie bubble.

The couple met on the set of William's film Muertas in 2005, and tied the knot in 2011 after almost six years together. Now they have two children - a five year old son named Sebastian Piers, and a three year old daughter named Lucia Marisol. 

Williams' character wasn't given a name in the film, and is simply credited as "El Esposo de Gloria" (Gloria's husband).

So, now you know!

Barbie is undoubtedly the film of 2023, with Greta Gerwig's feminist blockbuster breaking box office records, prompting the Kenergy movement and resurging the Barbiecore fashion trend. 

And from America Ferrera's empowering speech to the predicted Oscar nominations for Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Greta Gerwig, Barbie is still all anyone can talk about.

The record-breaking film has acquired an army of super fans with Barbie's hidden easter eggs and clever cultural references - everything from the Bratz nod to the Chanel collaboration.

This week, it was a hidden easter egg that went viral that we all managed to miss, as a detail surfaced around the "real world" montage. 

At the end of the film when Barbie is deciding whether she wants to remain in Barbieland or leave to live in the real world as a human, she shares a special moment with her creator Ruth Handler. 

Handler holds Barbie's hands to show her what the real world is really like, and a beautiful montage of "real world" footage plays to Billie Eilish's What Was I Made For? The footage features multiple home movies - everything from birthdays and celebrations to everyday life moments. 

Greta Gerwig has recently opened up about this montage, revealing that the footage is very personal, with the home movies supplied by the cast and crew - featuring them and their loved ones.

In a recent interview, Gerwig explained that the scene was created to say "this is only ever made by human beings. Movies, dolls: Human beings make them. There was something about Ruth Handler, inventor of Barbie, this idea that she made the doll Barbie for her daughter Barbara, and just that human connection.

"Every film I make has to come from a personal place," Gerwig recalled. "I've always wanted to have a 'film by' [credit] and have a card with every single person who worked on a film because what I love about movies is it's a collective art form." 

Well, this is lovely.

Say what you will about Prince William and Princess Kate, they sure can take a joke — and it's lucky they can, because they were once the centre of attention while a certain Australian actress was making a daring joke about Prince Harry, and looking back it all feels fairly awkward - especially since the moment is currently resurfacing, and a lot has happened between the family members since then.

Let us back up.

A clip taken from the 2020 BAFTAs is currently making the rounds on TikTok. In the video, Barbie star Margot Robbie is on stage accepting an award for her Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star, Brad Pitt, since he couldn't make it on the night.

Margot read Brad's hilarious speech to the audience, although it's unclear whether she added in a few jokes of her own in order to embarrass Brad a little.

Anyway, at the end of the speech, Margot holds up the award as she says to the crowd: "He says that he is gonna name this Harry, because he is really excited about bringing it back to the States with him."

She quickly added: "His words, not mine!"

The camera then instantly cut to William and Kate, who were sat in the audience, and shows Kate laughing heartily. Although William also chuckles along, he definitely looks a little more uncomfortable about the quip than his wife.

Of course, the timing of Margot's joke was particularly on point. The awards took place on 2nd February 2020, just a few short weeks after the Sussexes announced that they were stepping down as senior working members of the royal family. 

Nothing like a bit of publicly awkward banter between famous faces. 

In her speech, Margot also made another extremely timely joke, this time taking aim at Brexit, which went through on 31st January 2020.

She opened by saying: "Brad couldn't be here due to family obligations, so he asked me to read his response for him.

"OK, he starts by saying, 'Hey Britain! Heard you just became single, welcome to the club. Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement, blah blah blah..."

Well, the audience seemed to love it!

Greta Gerwig's film has not only surpassed the $1 billion in global ticket sales mark - making it the highest grossing movie from a female director ever - but it has also had an unexpected impact on everything from fashion (like causing a huge spike in searches for Birkenstocks) to baby names inspired by the plastic fantastic characters.

So to say that Barbie is having a moment is probably a bit of an understatement. 

With fans of the film giving it an impressive audience rating, it's hardly surprising that many cinema goers have been holding onto hope of a sequel. And given it's incredible success over the last few weeks, it would seem like a no-brainer for Hollywood bosses. 

Right?

However, there appears to be a Barbie movie sequel update that might leave you feeling a little deflated. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie - who starred in the film as the titular character, and also acted as producer - did not agree to return to the role for a sequel, meaning that she is under no obligation to play the doll in a second film.

Ryan Gosling, whose portrayal of Ken can only be described as sublime, is also not contracted to comeback as the beach-loving Cali boy. 

And in a further blow, director Greta Gerwig has no plans to get on board for a sequel, either. According to the publication, Warner Bros initially wanted to secure her for another film but her agents declined to agree to anything until the movie was released. And given that the Hollywood strikes could last until early next year, there will be no movement on any decisions.  

When she was asked about the potential for a part two, Gerwig told the New York Times: "I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero."

Will we still be crossing our fingers just in case? 

Absolutely.

As well as trivia from behind the scenes - like the fact that Ryan Gosling's funniest line was actually improvised - fans have found themselves incredibly interested in the iconic doll's backstory. 

During the film, viewers are introduced to the creator of Barbie, Ruth Handler, who explains what she hoped for when she brought the doll to girls across the globe. With over 200 jobs under her belt, Handler hoped that Barbie would empower young girls to believe that they really could do whatever they wanted with their lives.

But Ken's character also got his fair share of the limelight in the movie, and Ryan Gosling's portrayal has won the beach-loving boy a legion of his own fans. 

However, many of them have been shocked to find out that he does actually have a surname. And not just a surname - a middle name, too. 

That's right - he's boasting a whole host of monikers.

Handler had named the Barbie doll after her daughter, Barbara, and it turns out that Ken was named after her son, Kenneth. 

In fact, the doll's full name is Kenneth Sean Carson.

While Barbie was first released in 1959, Ken was introduced two years later in 1961. 

Sharing their surprise on Twitter, one fan wrote: "His full name is KENNETH SEAN CARSON. I’m done for the day."

Another added: "I was today years old when I learned that #barbie boo thang #ken actually has a full name." 

So he's not 'just Ken' after all.

The Barbie movie has been the talk of the internet since it was released last month. While the momentum and anticipation for Greta Gerwig's film has been building for months, fans have been loving everything from America Ferrera's empowering speech to Ryan Gosling's funniest line (which, we've since learnt, was totally improvised). 

The film's fashion has also become a huge focal point. Not only has it propelled the Barbiecore trend, but its ties to this legacy designer brand have not gone unnoticed. 

And now it seems that Barbie has had a surprising impact on searches for shoes. But rather than cause a spike in sales for bright pink stilettos, it seems that fans are opting for a classic and comfy pair of Birkenstock sandals. 

In the movie, Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) gives Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie) the opportunity to swap Barbieland for the real world, with a Birkenstock sandal representing reality. Although Margot is initially reluctant to take the sandal, by the end of the film she is seen happily wearing a pair. 

Virtual fitting room company 3DLOOK analysed Google Trends and found that demand for the iconic sandal has in fact soared since the film's released. Google searches for 'womens Birkenstocks' increasing by 518% in the UK, and 'Birkenstock sale UK' has jumped by 184%. 

Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of 3DLOOK, Whitney Cathcart, commented: "Comfort and sustainability have become the new icons of style, and the latest Barbie movie premiere proves it!

After months of anticipation, the Barbie movie finally landed in cinemas last month - and the excitement has yet to show signs of slowing down. 

Everything about it has become a talking point. The fashion sparked the Barbiecore movement, but fans are also noticing that there's one particular designer that is featured throughout. The brilliantly powerful speech from America Ferrera is resonating with millions of women across the globe. And apparently Margot Robbie has some feelings about the fact she didn't kiss Ryan Gosling in the movie. 

And while there are some excellent moments throughout the two hours of all things pink, plastic and fantastic (ahem, the Kens war dance) there's one small moment that has blown up on social media. 

In one scene, Barbie returns to her Dreamhouse - where Ken has now taken over the pad and made it his own mojo dojo casa house - in order to talk to him about his takeover of Barbieland. At one point, he leaves her at the saloon front doors to stand behind a wall and spontaneously shouts: "Sublime!"

During an interview with The Associated Press, Margot revealed that the line wasn't actually in the script - and that Ryan improvised what has since become one of the film's funniest moments.

She explained: "There are a lot of things that Ryan did that were like spur of the moment. He made people cry with laughter multiple multiple times in this film."

Margot also added that the scene where he wears two pairs of sunglasses at once also came to him in the moment. 

Fans online have called it one of 'the funniest part of the movie', and we have to agree.

Everyone is crushing on Margot Robbie right now, and it's not just because she did such a great job in the Barbie movie.

In fact, Margot has proven that her talents go beyond acting: she's actually also a pretty proficient signer (a person who can communicate using sign language).

This week, a video of Margot meeting fans during an autograph signing session outside the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, London, has gone viral. In it, Margot can be seen realising one of the fans she's meeting is deaf, and she begins to sign to them, signing what viewers have explained is the alphabet in Australian sign language.

After Pop Crave shared the clip on Twitter, people took to the comments to share their thoughts on the sweet scene, and they absolutely loved it.

"Her PR team must shed a tear of joy everyday," one person quipped.

"Is there any thing #Barbie cannot do?" asked someone else.

"People's princess," said another fan.

"That is so wholesome," commented another one.

Meanwhile, this video has proven not to just be a heartwarming internet moment, but also a pretty powerful catalyst: according to an analysis by language learning platform Preply, the video's popularity has led to a "244% spike in searches for 'learn sign language.'"

"Learn the 100 most important words — nailing the essentials like 'thank you' and 'please' mean you can jump straight into getting into a conversation.

"Learn the finger alphabet — this will give you the ability to sign any word if you do not know the sign you can spell it.

"Learn phrases you use frequently — this will make your sign much more fluent, especially when in conversation with somebody.

"Don’t be afraid to make a mistake — stretching what you know and making mistakes will help you learn. Some people even learn faster when making mistakes."

Greta Gerwig's Barbie has fully cemented itself into the Hollywood history books less than a week after its official release. 

The movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, grossed a staggering $356 million (£276 million) worldwide during its first few days in cinemas, making it the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female director.  

Although the film has been well received, with film critics lauding Gerwig's work and the positive audience score at 90%, it has also found itself in the thick of gender politics conversations online.

In an interview with The New York Times, Gerwig discussed the Barbie backlash from various conservative commentators including Ben Shapiro, who released a 43 minute long video about the 'woke' movie while setting fire to Barbie dolls on a barbecue, and Piers Morgan penned an opinion piece claiming he would be 'executed' if he 'made a movie mocking women as useless dunderheads, constantly attacking ‘the matriarchy'.

In response to the various accusations - from Texas Senator Ted Cruz claiming it has a 'Chinese communist' agenda and podcaster Matt Walsh calling it 'feminist propaganda' - Gerwig said: "Certainly, there’s a lot of passion. My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men.

"I hope that in all of that passion, if they see it or engage with it, it can give them some of the relief that it gave other people."

As some right-wing voices on social media have encouraged their followers to boycott the movie, fans of the film have used their quotes as their reasoning behind buying a ticket.

Barbie fever has well and truly swept the globe. It finally hit cinemas on Friday, but in the months ahead of its release - and in the days that have followed - it seems to be all anyone can talk about. 

Whether it's the Barbiecore trend bringing fuchsia fashion to offices and ODEONs everywhere, or the fact that Greta Gerwig made history by having the biggest opening weekend ever for a female director (with the film grossing an estimated $155 million, no less), it seems that the Barbie chatter is seeing no signs of dying down. 

As for the movie itself, America Ferrera's powerful speech has gone viral, it has sparked interest into why the iconic doll was never married or pregnant, and Barbie's backstory has had everyone intrigued. 

However, many were surprised to see that - teeny tiny spoiler alter - Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling don't kiss in the film. 

With the Hollywood titans playing the two main characters, fans assumed that the pair would share a peck on screen. Alas, it doesn't quite manifest. 

And it seems that Margot's friends were equally as shocked that she didn't kiss the A-lister - and Margot herself was kind of disappointed, too. 

Talking to People, she explained that her pals couldn't believe she didn't try and make it happen, and herself admitted: "It didn't feel like a win for me."

Margot joked: "All of my girlfriends were like, 'Well, you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!'

"I was like, 'I know, I can’t check that one off.'"

But Ryan, who was also part of the same interview, shared his own thoughts on the lack of lip locking. 

He said: "It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be. I’m so glad all of that got cut out."

Well, that's that!

The highly anticipated Barbie movie stars loads of super famous people playing the characters of Barbie and her boyfriend Ken, but if that wasn't confusing enough already two of these Barbies are also always getting confused for each other in real life.

The resemblance between Margot Robbie and Emma Mackey has been pointed out many a time, so much so that Margot and Barbie director Greta Gerwig apparently really wanted to allude to it in the film — but it didn't make the cut in the end.

Margot and her costar Ryan Gosling recently appeared in a BuzzFeed segment during which they got to answer questions while playing with some adorable puppies, and the Suicide Squad star addressed this all head-on.

"I've been getting told for years that I look like the girl from Sex Education, who is Emma Mackey. And she plays one of the Barbies in the movie, pretty much because Greta and I thought it would be funny," Margot explained.

She continued: "We were gonna do this whole joke about us looking similar and how..."

Then, she paused to ask Ryan: "Did you know this?" to which he replied: "I did not know this."

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out after all.

"And then once we got all dressed up as our Barbies, we were kind of like, we don't actually look that similar," Margot explained.

"Like when she's got her brown hair and I've got my blonde hair, we don't look that similar, so we didn't put that joke in the movie. But when people come up and say: 'I loved you in Sex Education,' I just say: 'Thank you. Thank you so much.'"

Thankfully, by the looks of it, there are still loads of jokes left in the final cut of the film, which premieres on Friday 21st July.

The world is waiting in anticipation for the release of Barbie, a live-action movie about the iconic Mattel doll, directed and co-written by Oscar nominated Greta Gerwig. 

And with less that a fortnight until the UK release, Barbie has to be the most talked-about film of the year already. 

This is in part down to the film's star-studded cast, with Ryan Gosling, the Ken to Margot Robbie's Barbie making the most news. 

Today, the latest trailer for the Barbie movie dropped - a music video starring Ryan Gosling called "I'm Just Ken" - and unsurprisingly, it has now gone viral. 

The music video sees Ken (played by Gosling) struggling in Barbie's shadow, alongside emotional lyrics and some choreographed dance numbers.

"Doesn't seem to matter what I do, I'm always number two," sings Gosling in the exclusive video. "No one knows how hard I've tried, oh I have feelings that I can't explain, driving me insane.

"All my life been so polite, cause I'm just Ken. Anywhere else I'd be a ten. Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility?"

The song continues: "I'm just Ken. Where I see love she sees a friend. What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan. And fight for me?

"I'm just Ken, I am enough. And I'm great at doing stuff. So hey check me out, yeah I'm just Ken. Baby I'm just Ken."

This is not the first time that the 42-year-old has spoken out about Ken's struggles, opening up about the character in response to the #NotMyKen backlash earlier this year. 

"If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told," Ryan Gosling told GQ, explaining how Ken has often been overlooked.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he later added: "Nobody plays with Ken, man. They never played with Ken. He’s an accessory and not even one of the cool ones.”

This includes Gosling's daughters, whose disrespect for their Ken doll was the final push that prompted the actor to take the role.

“I walk out in the backyard and, do you know where I found Ken, Jimmy?" Gosling recalled to Jimmy Fallon of the moment after Gerwig had offered him the role. "He was face down in the mud next to a squished lemon.”

He went on to explain that he took a photograph of the scene and sent it to Gerwig as his acceptance, with the message: "I shall be your Ken, for this story must be told."

Barbie is set for release on 21 July 2023.

We officially cannot wait for this.

It's impossible to ignore the fact that Greta Gerwig's hotly anticipated Barbie movie is due to land in cinemas this month. 

From the paparazzi shots of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling rollerblading in neon lycra to the trailers revealing the extent of the epic cast (and sparking some interesting fan theories about the plot), it is fair to say that the Barbie buzz has absolutely taken over - and the film hasn't even been released yet. 

However, in an alternate universe, Margot would not be starring in the film. In the early days, the role was given to Amy Schumer - although she stepped away from the project saying that she quickly realised 'you’ve got the wrong gal'.

But when it was brought to Margot instead, the I, Tonya star was also ready to walk away from the movie if one thing wasn't addressed and changed.  

In an interview with Time magazine, the Wolf of Wall Street actor explained that she had spoken with Ynon Kreiz, Chief Executive at Mattel, to 'acknowledge certain things' before committing to the role. 

She said: "In that very first meeting, we impressed upon Ynon we are going to honour the legacy of your brand, but if we don’t acknowledge certain things - if we don’t say it, someone else is going to say it.

"So you might as well be a part of that conversation."

Margot added: "If [Mattel] hadn’t made that change to have a multiplicity of Barbies, I don’t think I would have wanted to attempt to make a Barbie film.

"I don’t think you should say, 'This is the one version of what Barbie is, and that’s what women should aspire to be and look like and act like'."

The film boasts a stellar cast with both established Hollywood darlings and rising stars in the mix - and familiar faces from both sides of the pond. 

Alongside Margot, fans will see the likes of Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Sharon Rooney, Nicola Coughlan and Dua Lipa starring in the Barbie movie, with Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, John Cena and Kingsley Ben-Adir joining the line-up as Kens. 

Excited? Same. 

Barbie is set to be released in UK cinemas on Friday 21st July. 

Margot Robbie is a one of the most recognisable A-listers in Hollywood. Not only is she one of the most sought-after actors in the industry, but her recent accidental influence on summer styles (have you seen what everyone will be wearing at festivals this year?) and her impeccable beauty looks have propelled her to become a force to be reckoned with. 

However, her talents don't stop there. In fact, the 32 year old actor is also quite the bartender as some Australian locals found out this week. 

The Barbie star made her way to a bar on the Gold Coast in her native homeland, Australia, and surprised customers with her shots skills. 

She was seen pouring shots of her new gin, Papa Salt, and videos of Margot channelling her inner Peggy Mitchell have emerged on social media. 

In one video, a local quizzed Margot on her previous experience working behind a bar. 

They asked: "You used to work at a bar, right?"

Margot confirmed she had worked in a bar, and it just so happened to be 'down the road' from the go-to she was currently at. 

Margot mastered dividing her gin into shot glasses, which impressed onlookers, as one watched in awe and said: "Look at that."

The clip was shared on The Today Show's Instagram page, which was captioned: "Is there anything she can't do?" - and we couldn't agree more. 

Fans weighed in on Margot's talents, as one hailed her a "magic lady". 

Another commented: "New bar tender?"

A third added: "I just love her."

Margot has spoken about her time in the hospitality industry, telling once telling Jimmy Kimmel: "I started at the back of the kitchen, polishing silverware. Then I moved on to peeling potatoes, then I started washing dishes, and then I was a waitress."

Brilliant!

Margot recently launched her alcohol brand with her film producer husband Tom Ackerley, as well as their friends Charlie Mass, Josey McNamara, and Regan Riskas. 

The alcoholic beverage is a passion project Margot and her friends decided to work on based on their love of the spirit, which was inspired by the Australian coast. 

The Papa Salt was made in Byron Bay, and is comprised of botanicals, including oyster shells, oasted wattleseed and pink peppercorn.

Margot joins a long list of fellow actors who have branched into the food and wine sector, and launched their own alcoholic labels. 

Ryan Gosling launched Aviation gin, while Kendall Jenner founded 818 tequila, George Clooney is behind Casamigos, Dwayne Johnson launched Teremana Tequila, and Kylie Minogue has her own namesake wine - plus many more. 

It feels like an age since we found out that the Barbie movie was in the works. We've seen the photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling rollerblading in neon unitards. We've lapped up the promo snaps of the pair cruising around in a bright pink convertible with blonder than blonde hair. And finally, finally, after years of waiting - it is set to hit the big screen this summer. 

Last week, the first trailer for Greta Gerwig's upcoming film was released and the Barbiecore trend of 2022 was back in full swing. The sparkling cast - from pop stars to Hollywood royalty to most of Sex Education's graduates - teamed with the ability to make your very own Barbie poster meant that it is all anyone can talk about. 

Fans have already been sharing some interesting theories about what the big twist could be, as details on the plot are still very thin on the ground. The most we've got at the moment is a short description which reads: "After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness."

Wonderful. 

However, it seems that Margot - who stars in the movie as the titular character - thought there would be a very different reaction to it after seeing the script. 

After initially reading it, the Wolf of Wall Street star thought that while it sounded great she never thought it would actually happen. 

She told BAFTA (via IndieWire): "The first time I read the Barbie script, my reaction was, 'Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day.'

"Because they are never going to let us make this movie."

Fast forward to today and the Barbie excitement has reached fever pitch.

Believe it or not, it has been four years since the world found out that a Barbie movie was coming. The upcoming film, with Greta Gerwig at the helm, was announced in 2019 - so it's fair to say that excitement has been building. 

With Margot Robbie as the titular character and Ryan Gosling as her plastic fantastic boyfriend Ken, it was always destined to get a lot of attention. Add to that the excellent photos of the actors rollerskating in neon unitards and the fact that the details have been kept securely under wraps until now and you've got a recipe for Barbiecore mega excitement. 

So when the trailer for the Barbie movie was released this week and we were finally given a sneak peak into Barbie Land, it's fair to say that fans were into it. 

With a cast that includes a healthy handful of Sex Education stars - think Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells - as well as the likes of Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan, popstar Dua Lipa, icon Dame Helen Mirren and Stath Lets Flats Jamie Demetriou, it's a meeting of Hollywood darlings and British telly favourites in a bright and candy coloured dream. 

While plot details are still thin on the ground, fans have started to piece things together for themselves - and they're already coming up with some interesting theories. 

On the Barbie movie account's Twitter post, users shared how they think things will pan out in the fictional world. 

One wrote: "The fact that they’ve shown very little plot makes me feel like there’s a very big twist that’s gonna rock our world."

Another added: "They gave nothing away about the plot, I’m assuming they end up in the real world, somewhere in LA."

Someone else added a theory to the mix, writing: "Best horror film of 2023?"

One fan went so far as to claim: "Lives have definitely changed."

Quite possibly. It looks fantastic, and no judgement if you'll be booking Friday 21st July off work to celebrate. 

Just an idea. 

Most of us had a childhood nickname, but you never think about the A-listers being given an unusual moniker by their nearest and dearest. 

However, one of Margot Robbie's childhood friends just called her by hers on the red carpet, and it was something that apparently caught on when Margot was a teenager.

The Once Upon A Time in Hollywood star was on the red carpet in Sydney when a friend walked past and shouted out her nickname - and Margot reacted with laughter, and then embarrassment.

The actress, who will star in the upcoming Barbie movie, was attending the premiere of Babylon, the highly-anticipated period comedy drama which also stars Brad Pitt and Tobey Maguire. 

Margot, who was wearing a pale blue vintage Versace gown with red lace detailing, was being interviewed by reporter Justin Hill when a group of her friends arrived behind her and called out: “Hey, Maggot!”

As she turned round and saw them she giggled and waved before putting her hands up to her face in embarrassment. 

Interrupting Justin, she said: "I saw my school friends. We have been friends since we were four years old."

Possibly a nickname her friends gave her when she was younger, Margot didn't seem to mind and seemed excited by the funny reference. 

Before she interrupted the interview, Justin was trying to quiz her about her love of a certain South London nightclub. 

Margot, who used to live in a shared house in Clapham, previously said about her love of Infernos: "Everyone is wasted and so sweaty. Everyone looks a mess. By the time I make it to Infernos, I look so revolting that nobody’s going to look twice."

In a recent interview, she also admitted: "I actually once inquired as to whether I could rent out Infernos to have a sit down dinner in there just with my friends on a birthday one time. I think they said no, but maybe I'll try again. I'm a little further along in my career, they might say yes now."

Babylon is showing in cinemas across the country.

While her role in Neighbours made her a star in Australia, Margot Robbie quickly became a household name across the globe after playing Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. 

And while she was making a name for herself as a rising star in front of the camera, she was also helping to shape the film by changing pivotal scenes with director Martin Scorsese, too.

During a BAFTA: A Life In Pictures recording, Robbie revealed that she helped rewrite important parts of the script alongside DiCaprio and Scorsese. 

In the movie, there's a scene where DiCaprio's character Jordan Belfort kidnaps his and Naomi's daughter while under the influence, before crashing his car and prompting his wife to file for divorce. 

Discussing how she influenced the scene, Robbie said: "What happened previously in the script was that I walked into his office and said I want a divorce. And that was it.

"[But we felt] like something was missing."

She added that the trio stayed up "until 3 in the morning" coming up with a new way to tell that part of the story. Using Belfort's book, they gave the new ideas to the assistant director, with Robbie adding: "Our brilliant AD Adam Somner was probably tearing his hair out because out of nowhere we were like, so, we're gonna need to break the garage door of someone's house, break a car window, and destroy a couch.

"The crazier you are, the more Marty's going to love it."

The Suicide Squad star also spoke about her nude scene in the movie, revealing that she did "a few shots of tequila" before the camera started rolling, but she didn't think it would make as many waves as it did.

She said: "It was my first film in America, it sounds silly now but I thought I'd slip under the radar."

Since starring in The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot has starred in a number of blockbusters from I, Tonya to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
