Few actors have navigated fashion’s shifting moods quite so instinctively—or iconically—as Kim Cattrall. Long before conversations around personal branding became industry shorthand, the award-winning Liverpool-born, Canada-raised actor's wardrobe choices carried a sense of intention and theatrical confidence, both on- and off-screen.

Her style as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City helped define an era of high-octane dressing; all power tailoring, unapologetic glamour and statement silhouettes. But today, her approach feels markedly more distilled. Ease, timeless elegance and classic design have taken precedence over spectacle in her real-life wardrobe, reflecting a broader cultural shift towards clothes that project confidence without trying too hard—as well as her own ever-evolving style philosophy.

That sensibility makes Cattrall a natural fit for her latest role as the face and returning muse of Designers at Debenhams x Ashish, fronting the collaboration for a second time to tie in with the new drop. Building on the buzz of the initial launch, the latest collection leans into a spirit of playful romance and garden-party glamour, balancing modern minimal silhouettes with flashes of diamanté embellishment, vinyl outerwear and statement denim. The result is a characteristically joyful, slightly cheeky take on contemporary dressing—one that mirrors Cattrall’s enduring fashion appeal perfectly: confident, celebratory and entirely in control.

Speaking exclusively with Marie Claire UK, Kim Cattrall reflects on how her style philosophy has shifted towards ease and simplicity over the years, why London remains one of her greatest fashion inspirations, and the treasured wardrobe pieces that chart the milestones of her life.

How would you describe your personal style today?
"My style is EASY. Easy fabrics. Easy classic design. Less is more."

What is the best piece of fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
“Accentuate your positive."

How do you approach getting dressed for big events or red carpets?
"It depends on the occasion and if I’m working with a stylist or not. What guides me is imagining the complete look... Not just the dress/gown or suit, but imaging the complete look of what the hair, makeup, jewellery and accessories bring."

How does your approach to fashion change when you’re in London?
"London fashion is still as exciting and diverse as it was at 12 when I bought my 'Mary Quant’ beret as part of my school uniform. Always traditional with an unexpected twist. I tend to dress up more in London than any other city I spend time in. I’m excited to be there and whether it’s going for dinner or to the theatre or simply seeing friends, dressing up makes it more of an occasion."

What drew you to partnering with Designers at Debenhams x Ashish?
"I’m a fan of Ashish. His designs are bold and celebratory. Working with him has been such fun. We had a natural shorthand from the first fitting."

Which is your favourite piece from the collection?
"I like the flowered jeans and sweater look. Dressy oversized jeans with the flora top. And the rain coat—aka ‘Shower Curtain’—has an ethereal feel. Love them all."

What’s the most treasured item in your wardrobe — something you’d never part with?
"My most cherished pieces in my closet are the Dior jacket, skirt, and Philip Treacy hat that he designed for me, that I wore to [mine and Russell Thomas'] wedding last December."

Is there a costume or fashion piece you’ve worn in a film or TV show that you wish you’d been able to keep?
"I am a huge fan of Schiaparelli’s costume jewellery. The craftsmanship and imagination that goes into their designs... Such signature vision. Wearing them [as Samantha Jones in Sex & The City] added so much to the character I was playing and the scene."

Which designers or brands are exciting you most right now?
"I'm excited by what Conner Ives is doing. His show during London Fashion Week was very fresh and beautiful. I'm also looking forward to seeing what [former Balmain creative director] Olivier Rousteing does next. He's always brilliant and inspired."

Do you have any fashion regrets?
"Most of my fashion regrets come when I’ve hesitated buying something that I loved at first sight and made an impression on me. I always regret letting those pieces go."

The Autumn/Winter 2026 Fashion Week season has arrived, and so far, the hair looks have been excellent. From stacked braids to unkempt glamour, this season is shaping up to be about loose, unfussy hair, with a key point of interest.

Victoria Beckham: Side partings and low ponytails

The look at Victoria Beckham centred on a strong side parting and a loose, low ponytail, which championed natural texture.

Vivienne Westwood: Romy Schneider's 60's glamour

Over at Vivienne Westwood, the hair drew inspiration from actress Romy Schneider and the glamour of the 1960s. The look centred on strong, dry texture, softly structured shapes and very low side partings, with backcombed roots and brushed-out curls.

Ann Demeulemeester: From preppy to punk rock

At Ann Demeulemeester, hair celebrated individuality, inspired by a university classroom of alternative characters, from rockers and goths to preppy archetypes. Each look was tailored to the model’s natural texture and persona, united by a subtly dishevelled, lived-in finish.

Sportmax: Air-dried hair

Models walked the runway with damp hair, which appeared to dry as they walked.

Joseph: Power femininity

Backstage, Anna Cofone, who led the hair, explained that the look was a blend of 1970s freedom and 1980s power femininity. The result was softly pushed back, lived-in and texture-led strands, which aimed to convey the effortless modern woman.

Annie's Ibiza: Romantic silk roses

At Annie's Ibiza, hair lead Sam McKnight created soft, textured updos, which he then adorned with silky pink roses.

Erdem: Texture galore

At Erdem, the hair was romantic, with fuzzy, wispy accents.

Simone Rocha: Weather-beaten hair

Backstage at Simone Rocha, stylist Anthony Turner used Sebastian Professional to create an "exaggerated sense of reality in the hair", drawing inspiration from Perry Ogden’s book Pony Kids, which was a key influence for the show.

Turner says: "Longer hair feels weathered and wind-beaten. Sometimes, textures are lightly deconstructed, and other times, textures are completely deconstructed. This is a narrative of travelling, going from one place to the next... Something that once was and no longer is."

Chet Lo: Glass hair remains king

Hair at Chet Lo was presided over by Anna Cofone, who created glass-like and uber-straight lengths, using Authentic Beauty Concept.

New York Fashion Week

Tory Burch: Stacked Braids

Hair stylist Guido Palau gave models at Tory Burch stacked braids, separated into tiers.

Christian Siriano: Hair Scarves

At Christian Siriano, stylists wrapped models' hair around their necks, it was part scarf, part snood.

Zankov: Side parts are so back

Side parts were everywhere at Zankov, as were unfussy, skew-whiff partings.

London has just finished a very fashionable week (don't forget the Autumn/Winter shows always coincide with the BAFTA Awards, serving double portions of style on the Sunday). And, boy, was there plenty to sink your teeth into trend-wise, from whip-smart tailoring and "nice tops" to slinky cut-outs that showcased the body and sublimely-executed sportswear. These are the six trends you can shop now, and start wearing already.

Refined Fringe

Fringe has moved on from its boho-luxe beginnings, becoming a refined proposition at Erdem, Raw Mango and Edeline Lee, whose hooped skirt would demand to have doors held open for it. Similarly dramatic was a fringed leather coat at Joseph, which split at the stomach into lengths with plenty of movement. A more wearable version might be a fringed belt—St Agni's is actually billed as a skirt—that you can style over flared trousers, or a shoulder bag framed by strips of leather.

Sporty (With Spice)

Simone Rocha's collection included a much-feted collaboration with Adidas, giving the latter's signature track jackets a taste of the exquisite for AW26. From a teardrop-pearl zip pull to styling them under frocks criss-crossed by ribbon, it's already the must-buy of autumn.

For her debut on-schedule at London Fashion Week, meanwhile, Selasi's Ronan Mckenzie raided an unexpected archive for inspiration, that of Walthamstow School for Girls, her alma mater. School-girlish P.E. kits were her material of choice. As she explained in the press release accompanying the show, being a creative is sometimes like competing in a bleep test: "I ran back and forth, back and forth, watching other girls in my class fall away, the heat in my body rising, my lungs getting heavier, it becoming harder and harder to breathe," she says in the release, drawing a parallel between life then and now. "The last couple of years of being a creative primarily based in London have reminded me of external conditions not aligning with the amount of effort or intention being put in." While P.E. could be exhausting, it was also energising—and it's this spirit you should channel into Autumn. Think an uplifting colour palette of primary hues, and twist-on-a-classic sportswear tropes, as you strategise your kit.

Nice Tops

Erdem Moralıoğlu celebrated his brand's 20th birthday at London Fashion Week, with a starry front row that was heavy on national treasures. The collection was achingly beautiful—a celebration of how fabric and form, treated carefully, can be a thing of wonder—but it also evoked an unlikely '00s's outfit formula: the infamous "jeans and a nice top". The Erdem woman is apparently on board, and will be wearing said pairing (in this case a silk-satin blouse, encrusted and beribboned, along with low-slung jeans) as of Autumn. (Add a heel into the equation for a perfect 10/10).

New Tailoring

Tolu Coker opened LFW, with a specially-designated seat for King Charles III. It was her clothing as storytelling, however, that really stole the show, especially the breath-of-fresh-air tailoring—an acid-bright skirt suit here and sharply tailored jersey there, the latter of which highlighted, "the evolution of one’s wardrobe as they journey through different social-economic circles". Push your suiting to sublime levels this season, and next, with unexpected shades or whip-smart cuts.

'80s Accessories

If the most adornment you can manage is a whisper-fine chain or filigree hoop, look away now. Toga ushered in a new era, not just of statement jewellery—think brooches that got star billing as well as door-knocker earrings—but of wearing said jewellery together, throwing the "one and done" rule out the window.

Cut-Outs

Karoline Vitto cleverly reclaimed past narratives for AW26, drawing on the decades most associated with "heroin chic body ideals", the '90s and early '00s. The cut-out became a thing of beauty and celebration, with the doing away with a, "fallacy many of us lived by in previous decades: that we need to fit into the clothes, rather than clothes fitting us". Whether a keyhole that fastened with the kind of ring you might usually find on swimwear, or slices at either hip, Vitto wasn't playing a game of peekaboo but celebrating the body.

The fashion sphere has quietly been scaling back its sustainability commitments, muddying the waters with misinformation and greenwashing. Yet threads of hope remain: a number of designers at LFW continue to champion meaningful, sustainable practices.

Designers are now conscious of excessive fabric production and consumption and are now using practical methods to design and produce sustainably: from bespoke couture tailoring (the most sustainable fashion model) to incorporating upcycled fabrics, organic & natural materials plus developing and sourcing textiles from waste using no water and no chemicals.

There’s an endless supply of designers if you look hard enough. Here are a few of my favourites spotted at the London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2026 shows:

Steve O Smith

A bold couture collection recreated from Steve’s fluid ink-sketched forms feels as if it’s been poured straight from his ink pots. Every piece has the look and feel of the hands that meticulously appliqued layers of chiffon, crepe de chine, and pleated mille-feuille tulle. Bows and lines are hand-stitched using vintage glass beads and sequins. The main character's dress comes in a sorbet yellow deep V puff ball gown etched with striking black lines and layers of delicate frothy tulle reminiscent of a peony bursting out of delicate protective sepals.

Ksenia Schneider 

Ksenia Schneider revisits her distinctive style of cubic denim, evolving the shapes further in cotton sweatshirt tracksuit bottoms and recycled patchwork denim, sponsored by her continuing collaboration with Lee Cooper. Sharp denim forms were created in reconstructed fabrics, knits, prints and quilting. The collection played with the construction of fabric details from funtional multi layered utility pockets attached to everything from dresses, jackets and cardholder labels placed on jeans and t-shirts. Playing with denim motifs, Ksenia recreated the iconic linear gold top stitching details of denim on innovative fabrics blended from recycled denim waste.

Jawara Alleyne

His presentation was a study, questioning how fashion can be lived and explored from a sociological point of view. A discussion about the lack of spaces where you can dress up and meet your community in pubs and clubs. Clothing was displayed using walls, plinths and chairs to recreate the gallery set-up. The collection featured deconstructed polo shirts and signature multi-layered t-shirts mixed with neon lace that hung like paintings. A wall hanging of crisscrossing jersey strands trailed across the gallery floor. Jawara’s use of unexpected cuts and layered textures told his story in art form reminiscent of the artist Jenny Saville’s use of ordinary objects in unexpected sculptures, reinterpreting the clothed forms devoid of bodies.

Chopova Lowena

Stepping into the golf-themed world of Chopova Lowena, abuzz with playfully dressed regency core mannequins, you felt compelled to find your main character in the room. The collection was a beautiful mix of craftsmanship and sophisticated fabric parings; tartans mixed with florals, Argyle and camoflague, beaded cotton dresses and faux fur booties, low-rise boned zip skirts and corsets in cotton chintz. The elevated collection is born from upcycled deadstock, redefining the remnants of past seasons. The cat knit jumper and boned tulle skirt accesorised with a cat-shaped bag and bonnet is currently living rent-free in my head.

Phoebe English

Phoebe showed her reflection of the seasons from a horticulturist's eye, it felt like you were visually leafing through the pages of a Royal Horticultural Society’s encyclopaedia of plants and flowers throughout the season; snowdrops in January, dandelions marking the end of winter dormancy and the beginnings of spring, each look denoted a month of the year. Flower motifs were adorned and wrapped like vines across bodies, mixing textures, light and shade. Imprinted fabric leaves blowing in the light breeze, foxgloves and ivy trailing down sleeves, ferns sandwiched between cotton tulle, all against a backdrop of an all-white collection of crushed gossamer silk, cotton and satin acquired from bridal companies.

The Autumn/Winter 2026 Fashion Week season is upon us, and with it comes a whole host of superb beauty looks. From the great return of eyeshadow to the ever-present focus on skin, so far, this season is about considered maximalism and technical skill.

Paris Fashion Week

Victoria Beckham: Matte pink lips

Make-up artist Lucia Pica created matte pink lips on the models, using the brand's Posh Balm in Colette.

Tom Ford: Velvet lips

The vampy, velvet lips at Tom Ford were created using the brand's Runway Lip Stylo Matte in 16 Scarlet Rouge.

Milan Fashion Week

Sportmax: Orange eyes

At Sportmax, models wore vibrant orange cat eyes, all across their lids.

Prada: Grunge returns

Models sported blocky black eyes and exaggerated under-eye bags at Prada; it was indie sleaze, but on steroids.

Bluemarine: Bronzed lids

There was a wash of goddess-like bronze across models' lids at Bluemarine.

Roberto Cavalli: Gothic lips

Bold, almost black lips were the name of the game at Roberto Cavalli.

Moschino: Minimalist lines

Models wore incredibly precise, jet back eyeliner, including in the water and tight line.

Gucci: Party make-up

At Gucci, new creative director Demna Gvasalia evoked the party vibe of the late 90's. There were smudgy, smoked out eyes, and glossy red lips.

Fendi: Taupe minimalism

Renowned make-up artist Pat McGrath went minimal, lightly sculpting models' eyes and lips with pared back taupe shades.

London Fashion Week

Selasi: Make sweat great again

Backstage at Selasi, Herbar, who specialise in science-backed, mushroom-led skincare, set out to reframe sweat as a signal rather than a spectacle. Models' skin was left dewy, with no heavy setting, no mattifying, no blotting. Instead, it responded to heat and movement in real time.

Completed Works: 'Oil painting' skin

Make-up artist Zoe Taylor used Morphe to channel a 90's aesthetic over at Completed Works. When it came to the star of the show, Jemima Kirke, she built up several shades of cream blush, with a particular favourite being the plum shade 'Wine and Dine'. The models' mirror-like shine was enhanced by backstage skin prep from 111Skin.

Erdem: Structural Glass Skin

Celebrity facialist Hadda Akrim gave SkinCeuticals Express Glass Skin Sculpting Facials backstage at Erdem. The treatment was designed to lift, de-puff and enhance skin integrity to ensure the skin looked firm, bouncy and radiant through multiple show changes.

Julien MacDonald: Bronzed goddess

Julian MacDonald partnered with Charlotte Tilbury to deliver the brand's signature, sexy glam. The eyes were blown-out and elongated with a suffused, smoky haze, and framed with dialled-up lashes. The look was finished with a metallic, light-catching sparkle on the lids.

Simone Rocha: Eye-bags galore

At Simone Rocha, no attempt was made to cover the under-eyes of models—the result was an entirely natural, slightly puffy, discoloured eye area. This is one trend we can certainly get behind.

Chopowa Lowena: Liner art

Models at Chopowa Lowena sported this intricate, softly diffused liner and eyeshadow art reminiscent of flowers. It also acted as a nod to the Regency-era, which the designers were inspired by.

Harris Reed: Elongated Eyeliner

At Harris Reed, models wore jet black graphic eyeliner, which extended to the temples, and the under-eye area.

Dreaming Eli: Versailles Chic

At Dreaming Eli, make-up artists drew inspiration from the make-up of the French court during Marie Antoinette's reign. As such, the base was white, and accented with dramatic, messy pops of colour on the cheeks and lips.

Bora Aksu: 'Dead Girl' Greige

Make-up artists made models' skin and lips super pale, à la the "dead girl" aesthetic that saw a surge in popularity last year. The lids were softly washed with grey to complete the look.

New York Fashion Week

Ralph Lauren: More blush please

Models at Ralph Lauren, including Gigi Hadid, sported the "cold girl blush" look to dramatic effect. In fact, it was rather reminiscent of Margot Robbie's flushed, ruddy cheeks in Emerald Fennell's "Wuthering Heights".

Marc Jacobs: Vampy Minimalism

Over at Marc Jacobs, the focus was either on the eyes or the lips—never both. I loved the vampy feel of this super dark lip paired with incredibly minimal skin and apparently nothing on the eyes. Even the nails were bare.

Anna Sui: Graphic, Metallic Eyeliner

This oversized eyeliner look at Anna Sui was part indie sleaze and part 60's mod.

Private Policy: Peach is in

20's style, super skinny eyebrows and a soft, diffused peach lid were on the catwalk over at Private Policy.

Carolina Herrera: OTT Eyeshadow

Make-up artist James Kaliardos washed models' lids with a single bright colour, extending right up to the brow bone.

The success of fashion month hinges on the shock of the new, whether that's trends or names-to-know. But while the clothes might shift from season to season, with different references, silhouettes, colour palettes and moods, there's a habit that's harder to change: casting. Karoline Vitto, one of the most exciting talents at London Fashion Week, put it best in her press release with its deadpan opening question: "'Where did all the curve models go?,' the headlines asked. Nowhere. The weight of body diversity should not rest on a handful of designers. But with Karoline Vitto and her contemporaries taking a step back over the past couple seasons for one reason or another, it felt like curve model casting had all but frozen over." Hers was a show that drew on silhouettes from the '90s and 'early '00s, "minus the heroin chic body ideals," cleverly adapting toxic standards of the past into something that did not demonise but celebrated, with a teardrop cut-out placed over the hip bone in one instance that gave its gown exquisite oomph.

Vitto might not be among the majority but she's also not alone. Because for AW26, collections for which have so far been shown in Copenhagen, New York and now London, there were tentative signs of more interesting (read: inclusive) casting. As well as being a sustainability champion, Copenhagen Fashion Week has become an example of how brands can think differently (or differently to what has come before) when it comes to who models their clothes.

At Skall Studio, the process has always been more than a specific "look". Rather, its sibling founders, Julie and Marie Skall, seek out, "women with personality, women who stand for something and who feel aligned with our values", they tell Marie Claire, emphasising that it's a different approach to what you might think of as traditional street casting. "Often, there is already a relationship. They might be part of our extended community, or someone who embodies the quiet confidence and integrity we value. When you cast based on personality and values, diversity happens very organically. You automatically see different ages, body types and expressions of femininity," they say.

These sentiments chime with the ethos at OpéraSPORT, another brand showing as part of CPHFW. "When people see a range of body types, ages, and backgrounds on the runway, it creates connection. It makes the clothes feel real and attainable, not distant or exclusive," says co-founder Awa Malina Stelter. "For us, diversity is not a statement for attention; it’s a reflection of the community we design for. We want people to see themselves, or someone they recognise, in our shows."

That word—"community"—is important. Because if a brand's customer base is broad, shouldn't that richness be reflected on the catwalk? At Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon asked members of the art world, from painters to gallery-founders to sculptors to photographers, to walk in the show, giving the clothes—assertive, easy and artistic—even more life. As the press release detailed: "For Fall 2026, Carolina Herrera draws inspiration from a community of women, past and present, whose work and influence have shaped the landscape of art. Whether artists or muses, patrons, gallerists, curators or collectors, they lead lives of bold self-expression, talent, and style."

This is an establishment brand—one of the on-schedule designers that is worn by some of the most powerful women in America—making a refreshing casting decision, one that was neither a box-ticking exercise nor a novelty but infused the collection itself. Why this makes a difference is because the people who continue to push the so-called envelope when it comes to casting are independents, smaller brands who essentially have to carry the can for the entire industry. "We have less to lose and more to say," says Hillary Taymour, founder and creative director of Collina Strada. "Big houses carry history, shareholder expectations, and legacy fantasies built on exclusivity. That doesn’t mean they can’t change, but change is slower when the image is already monetised. Independent brands are often born from lived experience, so nuance isn’t a strategy, it’s a necessity."

Having said that, Chanel's Haute Couture show opened with a grey-haired model—Stephanie Cavalli, who also appeared on the brand's catwalk for Metier's d'art. This was a different kind of Couture, softer, lighter, modern and highly want-able, and its artistic director's choice of model perhaps reflected that women who can afford these clothes—translucent twin-sets that are whisper-thin, delicate but just as gorgeous as ball gowns—are probably older than 25.

For some brands, an inclusive approach to casting has always been part of their DNA, not a gimmick or a way to gain traction. "From our very first show, we decided to do things differently," says Marta Marques, co-founder of Marques' Almeida. "We didn’t really agree with how agency models were being treated, the focus on body shapes, heights, and looks, with no real attention to them as people." That's the key, not diversity for diversity's sake but something deeper. "We hope people notice not just differences in age, race, size, or style, but also in posture or personality—some girls are shy, some bold—but they all feel comfortable, supported, and part of a unit that lifts each other up. That’s the real message: that even in small communities, people can support one another and create something meaningful," says Marques.

That's a wrap on another fabulous London Fashion Week, that took over the capital from February 19-23 as emerging talents and established designers alike presented their latest collections for the Autumn/Winter 2026 season. Not forgetting, of course, all the presentations, events, launches, parties, surprise celebrity appearances and street style moments that came alone with it, and ensured the schedule was jam-packed.

As always, there was a lot going on—so whether you were on the ground or not, I’ve rounded up all of the biggest highlights and standout stories that are well worth knowing.

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2026 Highlights

The King at Tolu Coker

As far as celebrity appearances go, it doesn’t get much more major than a surprise visit from the King. On the first day of London Fashion Week, King Charles ensured that the season went off with a bang as he sat front row for Tolu Coker’s show, that also saw Little Simz perform.

The Launch of Brand63Africa

King Charles was present for another key London Fashion Week moment—namely, the launch of Brand63Africa: a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to connecting designers of African heritage with the global luxury market. The inaugural cohort of brands includes Christie Brown, Abiola Olusola, Skein, Studio Namnyak and The Cloth, a group brought together by a creative committee chaired by Vanessa Kingori OBE.

Lily in London for Harris Reed

Emily In Paris star Lily Collins made a rare front-row appearance at Harris Reed's AW26 show, that was held in Claridge's grand ballroom. The actor wore a striking black bustier designed by Reed for the occasion, and was joined by stars including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Joe Locke, and Nicky Hilton Rothschild.

Topshop's Next Chapter

Whilst Topshop didn't show this season, the British high-street brand still ensured it was part of proceedings—first, by hosting a glitzy party to celebrate its expansion into John Lewis, complete with a performance from Ella Eyre; then the announcement of an upcoming collab collection with Tolu Coker; and finally, by tasking Central Saint Martins students with reimagining its iconic Joni and Jamie jeans.

Real-World-Ready Clothes at Patrick McDowell

Patrick McDowell took a slightly different tack for his AW26 collection, focussing on "clothes that could step off the runway and into the world today" in lieu of more fantastical showpieces. Joseph's Grand Return

For the first time in almost a decade, Joseph returned to the LFW schedule and took over an industrial-style space in the Tate Modern for the occasion. The collection itself? A wonderfully wearable selection of statement coats, knits, suits, bags and a sizeable dose of snake print.

A Netflix Reunion at Mithridate

The unveiling of Mithridate's latest collection at Tate Britain doubled up as an unofficial reunion for some of Netflix's most prominent new-gen stars, as the likes of Paul Forman (Emily In Paris), Meg Bellamy (The Crown), Martins Imhangbe (Bridgerton) and Victor Alli (ditto) were peppered throughout the front row.

The Sugababes at Rotate

Much-loved Scandi brand ROTATE Birger Christensen closed out the second day of London Fashion Week with an epic party at The Standard, co-hosted by Amanda Lepore and with a surprise set by The Sugababes, who performed early-Noughties hits ‘Push the Button’ and ‘Round Round’.

Selasi Sports Day

Designer Ronan McKenzie took over a central London sports hall for a fashionable throwback to school sports lessons, complete with a bleep test, reworked kits from the Walthamstow School for Girls archive, Pangaia tracksuits, and a performance en pointe from the English National Ballet's Lauren Beharie.

Celebrating Curves at Karoline Vitto

At long last, some real body diversity on the runway courtesy of Karoline Vitto, feat. boobs, bums, curves and clothes that celebrate them in all their glory.

Jemima Kirke for Completedworks

Cult jewellery brand Completedworks called on Girls star Jemima Kirke to present its latest collection, continuing its tradition of putting on tongue-in-cheek performances in lieu of a traditional show. This time around, the micro-play took the form of a hyper-styled, televised dinner party in which 'lifestyle guru' Régine McQueen (played by Kirke) imparted her somewhat questionable top tips for being a perfect host, assisted by Camille Charrière. Guests were also treated to a first glimpse of the brand's upcoming Asics Gel-Kayano 20 trainers collection.

Labrum's Threads of Osmosis

Labrum London's AW26 collection, entitled 'Threads of Osmosis', explored migration and cultural exchange through globally sourced textiles grounded in sharp British tailoring. Team GB athlete Jazmin Sawyers and musician Kojey Radical both made a surprise runway appearance for the occasion, adding star power to the diaspora-focused show and offering a preview of pieces from an upcoming adidas x LABRUM running capsule.

Toga's World of Contrasts

Tokyo-based TOGA was one of the surprisingly few brands that put proper cold-weather clothes on the catwalk, with a collection featuring flashes of faux fur alongside playful layering, contrasting textures and fresh silhouettes.

Julien Macdonald Puts on the Glitz

Legendary Welsh fashion designer Julien Macdonald brought his signature dose of glitz, glamour and some much-needed fun to the schedule, with a show held atop the Shard to unveil a luxury resort-inspired collection of party pieces, bedazzled swimwear and sheer dresses aplenty.

Chet Lo's Night Market

For his AW26 show, Chet Lo transported guests to a vibrant Hong Kong night market—albeit reimagined in the ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge—complete with neon lights, stalls hosted by makers across the Asian diaspora, and models as its colourful characters clothed in newly sultry iterations of the designer's signature durian-fruit-inspired knitted spikes.

20 Years of Erdem

Erdem celebrated its 20th anniversary with an epic show at the Tate Britain, that saw models including Edie Campbell and Karen Elson hit the runway in a series of sculptural silhouettes, rich textures, sweeping gowns, and even some jeans (!)—all while the likes of Keira Knightley, Dame Helen Mirren, Ambika Mod, Ruth Wilson, Beth Ditto and Glenn Close sat front row.

Emilia's Contrasting Aesthetics

Emilia Wickstead's AW26 show read like a tale of two aesthetics, beginning with an elevated take on utilitarian dressing (complete with fresh denim details) before transitioning into a selection of red-carpet-worthy gowns.

adidas x Simone!

Some of the biggest news of the week? That Simone Rocha is collaborating with adidas on a capsule of classic clothes and shoes—all of which will receive her signature subversively feminine treatment. The designer's show served, in parts, as a preview of the upcoming collection, featuring everything from track tops and bomber jackets to shorts and sneakerinas emblazoned with a fresh new trefoil and the iconic three stripes.

Richard Quinn's Future Classics

Richard Quinn reimagined classic beauty for the present day with his AW26 collection, that contrasted a hyper-modern set and cheeky hints of latex with richly embroidered ballgowns that oozed old-world glamour.

Alexa at Malone Souliers

Malone Souliers' presentations are always a highlight, providing a moment of calm amidst the Fashion Week rush to simply enjoy browsing beautiful bags and shoes. Alexa Chung clearly got the memo, too, arriving at the Royal Academy location dressed the part in a trench, tee, cargo trousers and a pair of the brand's metallic pink heeled sandals.

Glam Grunge at Marques'Almeida

In a refreshing break from tradition, Marques'Almeida hosted an East London presentation to unveil its latest collection, that featured utilitarian, military-inspired designs alongside the glamorous and romantic in the brand's signature style. Plus, fresh takes on its most classic pieces, including acid-wash denim and snake-effect peplum tops, and voluminous green, pink and blue mikado pieces.

Surprise Guests at Conner Ives

Conner Ives has quite the natural knack for creating viral moments—just think of the now-iconic "Protect The Dolls" t-shirt that went stratospheric after his show a few seasons ago. For AW26, however, there were multiple surprises in store for guests: champagne on arrival at Claridge's, Kim Cattrall on the front row, a pooch on the runway, a final bridal look modelled by Dominique Jackson (aka, Tyra Allure Ross), and another epic Jimmy Choo collab.

Burberry's Star-Studded Finale

And last but certainly not least came Burberry—the show that has traditionally closed London Fashion Week for more than a decade, and that takes its grande finale role seriously. This season saw the British brand host one of its glitziest front-rows to date, bursting with the likes of Daisy Edgar-Jones, Kate Moss, Olivia Dean, Jodie Turner-Smith, Simone Ashley, Skepta, Leo Woodall and more, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Romeo Beckham took their turn on the runway to boot.

The British fashion scene includes labels that are practically household names—Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, which is hardly surprising when you consider its heritage. From Harris Tweed®, which is still handwoven and sourced from the Outer Hebrides, to the famous lace factories of Nottingham, which started booming in the 1840s, these islands have a legacy of making which, married with its modern-day place among the "core four" fashion capitals, means it's become a hub for creativity and craftsmanship.

With London Fashion Week AW26 about to start, and a difficult retail climate, it's never been more timely to shop local. And if your budget doesn't stretch to designer, good news—there are plenty of under-the-radar contemporary brands that are proudly based in Britain.

Liberowe

Best for: classic-with-a-twist tailoring that's made for work or play

Liberowe's tailoring blends two reference points: Indian menswear and '70s Paris. With every piece made in London, it has enough statement jackets for there to be something for everyone (Nehru-collared or peplum-waisted, shimmer tweed or satin, the choice is yours).

Angharad

Best for: affordable heirlooms

Inspired by the The Mabinogion—a collection of folklore that originates from 12th-13th century Wales, Meghan Griffiths handcrafts each piece of her jewellery from reclaimed precious metals. And though she might use techniques such as lost-wax casting and smiting, Angharad fits into the category of "modern heirlooms".

De Savary

Best for: glamorous leather, suede and faux-fur

An outerwear brand specialising in leather, suede and faux-fur at prices that are investment but not always four figures, London-based De Savary has become a go-to for influencers wanting to a) stay warm and b) look chic doing it.

Ducie

Best for: celebrity-approved faux-fur and shearling

Ducie started life in Portobello Market, with its founder, Ducie Keam-George, building her business into a brand that now counts A-listers (Alexa Chung just posted about its cinch-waisted shearling jacket) as fans.

If Only If

Best for: Netflix-famous nightwear

If Only If got a shout-out (in fact, several) in Lena Denham's Too Much, which brought its nightwear to a whole new audience. Family-run, and with a size range that's 6-24, its nighties run the gamut from the voluminous (long-sleeved and scalloped-edged in cotton-voile) to the slinky (silk-satin negligées).

DMY Studios

Best for: modern sunglasses with a hint of nostalgia

Today's It girls swear by eyewear from DMY Studios (including Olivia Dean, Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez), which was founded in 2018 by Demi Mae Yip. Blending a sense of nostalgia and minimalism—and with a line-up that focuses on "forever" silhouettes—DMY should be your first port of call for sunglasses that can be worn 24/7.

Navygrey

Best for: timeless everyday jumpers

The perfect jumper does exist—and it's made by Navygrey. Its founder, Rachel Carvell-Spedding, spent two decades attempting to find a jumper as just so as one of her mum's before deciding to make her own. Fast-forward to 2026 and the brand puts a premium on ingredients, including 100% lambswool that's spun and knitted in Scotland.

Florrie London

Best for: British designer shoes

A "Made in Italy" label has always been a sign of a great shoe's pedigree. Florrie Dowley, founder of Florrie London, doesn't disagree, having cut her teeth at Aquazzura. But British design flair, coupled with the kind of craftsmanship found at a family-run atelier just outside Florence, is what sets her shoe label apart.

Talia Byre

Best for: new-fangled sportswear and stripes

Honouring Lucinda Byre, the designer's great-uncle’s boutique in Liverpool, Talia Byre is now among the hottest tickets at London Fashion Week (the brand is doing an on-schedule presentation this weekend). With an emphasis on "clothing that you live in" and "that grows with you", it's become known for its stripes, shirting and takes on sportswear.

Hades

Best for: alternative knits with something to say

Why settle for an ordinary knit when you could pledge your allegiance to an iconic album (David Bowie's Hunky Dory), Greek goddess (Aphrodite) or swear word (one cardigan has buttons that spell out "F***".) Founded in 2016, Hades is the alt knit brand that makes its jumpers in Hawick, Scotland, with an emphasis on music and mythology.

New York

NYFW has already begun with a bang at Ralph Lauren, with a translucent hooded gown, winking with embellishment, that resembled high-fashion armour (a comment on the state of the nation and the need to steel oneself? Perhaps). It's most-anticipated show of AW26—Proenza Schouler—is showing today, however. It's Rachel Scott's inaugural collection as creative director, while her own label, Diotima, will be showing later in the week. Her appointment was met with something more than excitement, although there was plenty of that in the air. As one of the only women—not to mention women of colour—at the helm of a major design house, it's another (long-overdue) step towards parity in traditionally male-dominated spaces, in this case ateliers that, ironically, make clothes for women. Proenza Schouler has long been a byword for the kind of clothes that are easy to wear but make you look twice. With Scott's focus on craft, it's a debut that deserves the hype.

Elena Velez—whose designs have already been worn by fans including Jenna Ortega, Rosalía and Taylor Swift—will be showing her fourth collection as part of NYFW. Velez's clothes are reminiscent of historical garments with attitude—one skirt suit's bottom half currently on sale is strategically hoiked to reveal a under slip—and often flirt with controversy (Anna Delvey stepped on the catwalk, along with her tell-tale ankle monitor, last September). The American designers, with their sportswear DNA, are usually seen as being the most commercial of the core four. Not Velez, which is what makes her something of a wildcard.

Fforme is another one-to-watch. The American Phoebe Philo is how you could pitch it to someone who's not yet familiar with its easy artistic minimalism (see folded corset tops styled with chino-style pants for SS26).

London

London AW26's schedule will have no shortage of creative firebrands courtesy of famous talent incubator Fashion East, which last year celebrated 20 years. This season's line-up includes Jacek Gleba, Mayhew and newcomer Traiceline Pratt, whose designs have already been worn by A$AP Rocky.

Selasi is also making its first catwalk appearance in several years (its second to date). The brand is masterminded by creative, designer and curator Ronan Mckenzie, with the kind of clothes—thoughtful instead of trend-led—that have quietly won its legions of fans that appreciate her ability to blend fashion, books, flowers, you name it, with the label's spirit (Bibi Abdulkadir leaves an emoji under almost every post on Instagram). With a name that means "God hears me" from the Ghanaian Ewe, Selasi brings together its founder's multidisciplinary practices—making scent to furniture to original scores—all imbued with a sense of self-trust and belief that grounds every garment.

Joseph is returning to show after a hiatus of several years (its last creative director, Louise Trotter, is now at the helm of Bottega Veneta). Although its ready-to-wear comprises refined tailoring that's still the best in the business, its catwalk offering used to be boundary-pushing and, typically for London Fashion Week, usually shown in a dank warehouse. Will it return to its grungy roots under Mario Arena (a man who has form when it comes to edge with previous stints at Christopher Kane, as head of ready-to-wear, and JW Anderson, where he served as director of product and design)? We'll see but it looks promising.

Milan

It's debut season (again!) in Milan, with big-hitters arriving at three of the city's most historic (and influential) brands. Maria Grazia Chiuri will be presenting her first collection for Fendi, with the show scheduled on Wednesday 25 February. Excitingly, another woman also makes her debut at Marni, Meryll Rogge, on the following day, Thursday 26 February. With her eponymous label to simultaneously manage, Rogge is joining the ranks of newly-appointed creative directors wearing two hats such as Rachel Scott, making it a truly game-changing time for women firing on all cylinders.

Finally, Demna, who'll be making his hotly-anticipated catwalk debut at Gucci (Friday 27 February). While he's already made his mark, with a lookbook that caused more than a frisson of excitement as he created house characters such as "La VIP", "Milanesca" and "La Bomba" for SS26, this show will be his masterplan for the brand, a blueprint that could put Gucci, flailing somewhat after a few years of creative director comings and goings, back on top.

Paris

As well as a debut, a designer's final collection for a brand can be a bittersweet moment. That will almost certainly be the case at Alaïa, who is bidding farewell to Pieter Mulier, the man who is just in at Versace.

Elsewhere, second seasons can be just as telling as firsts, with the opportunity to either surprise or cement (see Dior, Jonathan Anderson will be presenting his second womenswear collection, Loewe and Jean Paul Gaultier).

Runways might be ruled by sight, but this season, it was the unseen that left the biggest impression. Designers are using fragrance not just as a finishing touch, but as part of the storytelling, an invisible thread weaving together clothes, inspiration, mood, and memory. The result? Fashion that you don’t just see, you feel—and it’s changing the way we experience both. “I believe that fragrance doesn’t just complement style, it elevates it by infusing each outfit with presence and a deeper sense of identity,” explains Amanda Connock of Connock England. “Although invisible, fragrance is the ultimate accessory, that final touch that completes any look." The right scent can amplify what the eye sees—or even reveal the unseen mood beneath a garment.

Scent meets style

At the Roksanda Spring/Summer 2026 show, for example, fragrance was not an afterthought but a collaborator. The space was suffused with STORIES No.02 Eau de Parfum—warm, forested, and evocative—enveloping models, backstage artists, and front-row guests alike. Roksanda herself described the fragrance as complementing the organic inspirations behind the collection: “With notes of natural surroundings and forestry, there is a connection to Barbara Hepworth, this season’s inspirations, and her dialogue with nature and organic form.” The fragrance was to feel like part of the collection itself—echoing the clean lines and earthy tones.

Over at Barrus, scent was experimented with at an even more elemental level— using nanotechnology to embed scent into its fabrics. In collaboration with Art de Huile, scarves and select garments exuded an aroma, inspired by Istanbul’s spice bazaars, adding a tactile depth to the drape and motion of the fabrics. Creative Director Neslisah Yilmaz framed it beautifully: “a journey through scents, textures, and hidden lights.”

In Paris, Saint Laurent staged its latest show beneath the Eiffel Tower and infused the space with the house’s most iconic scent: Opium. The fragrance floated through the night air, mingling with the dramatic lighting and Yves Saint Laurent’s signature precision tailoring. It was both nostalgic and defiant—a reminder that scent can crystallise a brand’s history in the same way a sharply cut blazer does. The guests didn’t just witness the collection; they breathed in the YSL legacy.

Backstage at Ginny Litscher, master perfumer Azzi Glasser scent-styled each celebrity model, matching fragrance to look and mood, creating what she called “the catwalk that left the scent trail.” Sadie Frost wore Perfume C, “as it gives off that pheromone sexual aura with that mysterious quality, perfect for my look.” And Laura Whitmore wore Perfume Twisted Iris: “I love Ginny’s designs and I want my fragrance to match the story told in this dress.” The collab elevated the 'just another' collection into a fully multi-sensory experience.

Meanwhile, Chopova Lowena’s ‘Cheerlore’ show turned the runway into a playful scent narrative. ‘Perfume girls’ carrying bottles of the label’s newly launched fragrances—Queen Rosa, Hay Zhasmina!, Great Root/Green Ruth. And then there is Miu Miu’s Miutine—not necessarily diffused on a runway, but born from the same impulse to entwine a house’s aesthetic with smell. Inspired by the Matelassé leather codes of the brand, Dominique Ropion, the perfumer, says the composition “invites self-affirmation and confidence.” Ambassador Emma Corrin called it “a scent for free spirits.” In one small flacon, Miu Miu compresses its fashion identity into scent.

Your fragrance wardrobe

“Although invisible, fragrance is the ultimate accessory, that final touch that completes any look," says Amanda. Here's how to bring the runway's sensibility into your own everyday wardrobe.

Mood alignment - If your outfit features crisp tailoring—sharp lines and structured silhouettes—lean into greener woods, such as vetiver, leather, or incense. These base notes echo the confidence and intent behind your look. If you’re wearing something romantic or fluid—such as soft silks, bias cuts, chiffon, airy florals, musks, or a whisper of vanilla—airy florals can mirror that sense of ease without overwhelming it. As Amanda puts it, “Fragrance also has a powerful connection to mood. Light, green notes can refresh and uplift; warm ambers and woods can calm and comfort.” Much like dressing, scent becomes a daily ritual for deciding how you want to feel—confident, serene, bold, or sensual.

Season and fabric - In spring and summer, citrus, green notes and watery florals sit beautifully beside linen and sheer fabrics—they amplify that freshness. Come autumn and winter, heavier materials like wool and velvet pair perfectly with amber, tobacco or resinous woods. Think of your perfume as a second layer: in warm weather, it should feel like cool air on skin; in winter, like a cashmere throw.

Occasion and character - For daytime or work, choose clean yet complex notes—iris, soft woods, white florals—that whisper rather than shout. For the night, you can build intensity with tuberose, labdanum or oud. The goal isn’t to match perfectly, but to harmonise: your scent should affirm your look, not compete with it. Amanda likens this to building an olfactive wardrobe: “Through fragrance layering and combining, you can craft a scent that is uniquely yours—a personal olfactive wardrobe that reflects your style in every season. Just as no two people wear an outfit in the same way, fragrance becomes most powerful when it’s worn with intention and tailored to you.”

Narrative thread - Just as designers now weave scent into their runway story—think of how fragrance fills a show space, echoing the fabrics or plette—you can use perfume as your own finishing flourish. Try misting it through a silk scarf or inside the neckline of a jacket so it lingers like a secret. The first breath as you enter a room becomes your signature—invisible but unforgettable.

Shop fashion fragrances

And that’s a wrap on London Fashion Week—and its excellent beauty looks. Bold, dramatic, and anything but boring, this season gave us beauty editors plenty to get excited about. Sure, you might not want lettering on your lips every day, but the runways were full of inspiration; it’s just about how you want to channel it. Ahead, Marie Claire UK’s lowdown.

1. Let your lips do the talking

This season, Roksanda was inspired by modernist sculptor Barbara Hepworth, and this trickled down to the beauty looks, where the make-up artists and hairstylists made masterful use of lines, contours and curves. The two-toned lips, in particular, were a revelation and saw models walk down the runway with red, lacquered mouths, which were outlined in what looked like black kohl.

Chopova Lowena dialled up the drama a notch, too. Make-up artist Lauren Reynolds painted models' lips a cool-toned grey and outlined them precisely with a series of silver gems.

Then, at Simone Rocha, the make-up artists let the lips really do the talking. MUA Thomas de Kluyver created three incredibly intricate and shiny designs: a bright pink flower right in the centre, lettering that read "sweet dream" and lastly, a glassy black lip. Each look was finished with lashings of Byredo's Liquid Lipstick in Vinyl Fantôme.

Connor Ives' homage to the Noughties brought back the pastels and neons that were so reminiscent of the era, and saw make-up artist Lucy Bridge use MAC's Paintsticks and Chromalines to block out the lips in these dramatic tones.

2. Updos and a homage to Bowie

Sam McKnight led the hair at Richard Quinn, and he was inspired by the inherent glamour in the designer's sartorial creations. The stylist created classic sweeping updos, which had a masculine structure to them. He put it best backstage, describing the looks as a mix between Hitchcock's Hollywood heroines and David Bowie in the 80s.

Over at Conner Ives, stylist Claire Gretch used Bumble and Bumble to create fluffy, voluminous and coiled updos, as well as flicky, bombshell blowdries.

And then at Roksanda, which was presided over by Anna Cofone, hairstylists took inspiration from the collection's curves, abstract shapes and dynamic lines, and translated that to the hair. There were slicked back buns, long, glossy lengths and sculpted pixie partings that caught the light. "We wanted the hair to reflect Roksanda’s exploration of form—high gloss shapes with curves and graphic lines that felt both modern and timeless," she said. "Using Authentic Beauty Concept’s Cosmic Blow-Dry Jelly, we created looks that were fluid yet structured."

3. Bid adieu to the clean girl

For SS26, mess and (literal) muck are in. At Dilara Findikoğlu, make-up artist Yadim Carranza adorned models' faces with patches of mud to represent breaking free from gender norms. It looked like they'd rolled around in dirt, in the best possible way.

It was a similar story at Di Petsa and Labrum. The former saw models smothered in clay, and for the latter, key make-up artist Joey Choy pressed the side of models' faces into trays of coloured sand.

4. Doll eyes

Harris Reed has a penchant for XXL lashes, and this season was no different. The collection, titled The Aviary, saw lead make-up artist Sofia Tilbury play with false lashes that were cut on a gradient, elongating right at the end for a wide-eyed "fan-like" look. Extra volume was achieved through layers upon layers of Charlotte Tilbury's Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara.

In a similar vein, over at Richard Quinn, M.A.C's make-up artist Terry Barber took inspiration from old Hollywood glamour, as well as the classic 60's eye; carving out models' eye sockets in hues of grey, brown, and champagne. "It’s sculpted and I guess if you like a little ‘supermodel-y’, everything is lifted with a ski slope cheekbone, a lengthened eye and a pushed up brow with a contoured lip. It’s timeless and elevated but effortless beauty," said the MUA.

At Rixo, the 60s "doll-eye" reference was more overt. MUA's pressed models' eyelids with pastel purples and applied thick eyeliner to create huge, doe-like eyes.

5. Skin reigns supreme

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the intersection between skin tech and the beauty industry writ large is ever narrowing. Backstage at Tove, 111Skin gave models their exosome express facials, which utilised touch therapy.

Likewise at Emilia Wickstead, master facialist Jon Rummins focused on models' barrier health. He centred the mini treatments around Eve Lom's new Time Retreat Restorative Skin Essence, which features a botanical retinol alternative, microbiome-balancing prebiotics, and collagen-boosting actives to deliver ample hydration.

But it's not all about "perfect" skin. Cult skincare brand, Starface, partnered with Ashley Williams to debut their Tiny Star patch on the runway. Styled by make-up artist Ana Takahashi, the designer sought to explore "systems of care and contentment", and indeed, Starface certainly makes everyone feel cute and confident—no matter what their skin looks like.

With the city caught between two seasons, dressing for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026 was no easy feat. As is customary for British weather, the week kicked off with a fresh feel of summer, while the last day of LFW saw a drop in temperature that brought nothing but grey skies and piercing gusts of wind.

This Aje dress was perfect for the unexpected heatwave that hit on day 1 and was comfortable for my 12-hour stint of shows, meetings and an evening event. I teamed it with my favourite Zimmerman cowboy boots, which were comfortable for running between shows. My bag of choice was my trusty Alexander McQueen shoulder bag with gold embellishments, which was roomy enough for my sunglasses, wallet and two phones."

"Someone saw me in this suit and said “Lily you never wear purple!” and they weren’t wrong, but when I first spotted this purple cord suit from Boden fell in love. This fashion week it felt quite fresh in London, so I wanted something warm but colourful. I styled it with one of my favourite silk shirts by Equipment, that I’ve had for years. The blue snake print clashes - which is why I love it. I added my favourite (and easy to walk in) silver heels, and my new Miu Miu sunglasses."

"With so many back-to-back shows to attend, for me Fashion Week dressing is all about comfort and ease—so jeans, low-heeled boots and a jumper are my go-tos. "This fashion week, I was channelling my most extra self, whilst staying comfortable, because nothing ruins fashion week more than sore feet and clothing that overstimulates you (there’s already enough overstimulation as it is). The first thing I decided I had to wear was the fluffy red coat from JAKKE. I’ve never fallen in love with a piece of clothing so fast. It’s the ultimate addition to your outfit that instantly elevates your look and will guarantee you lots of compliments. Then came the base of the fit. I self-proclaim the title of being the queen of the black skirt, owning far more than one should. So when I say this is one that takes the top spot, I really mean it. The elastic band makes it super comfortable, and it’s the perfect midi length, making it great to wear with any shoe type. Now, accessories - there’s nothing better than a fabulous bag, and this piece is just that. It’s the perfect size - big enough to fit everything you need, but doesn’t completely overpower your outfit. If you’re looking for your new favourite bag, you’ve found it. Finally, shoes - you can never go wrong with a pop of red, and these sandals deliver on all fronts. Comfortable enough to strut around in all day, and stylish enough to secure the shoe compliments we all seek."

Looking to the past to predict the future has long been a foundational element in any fashion designer’s collection. Take the Y2K trend, for example: bandage dresses, heeled flip flops and choker necklaces resurrected from more than twenty years gone by. Yet, for Spring/Summer 26, the designers at London Fashion Week reached much, much further back into the archives—back to a time before cars, radios, and even the modern day fish tank was invented—yes, that last one surprised me, too.

From there, they plucked on one key feature: the exaggeration of the hips through bustles, panniers and crinolines—the cage-like frames that sat beneath large skirts—producing pieces that are as beautiful as they are steeped in history. Take Patrick McDowell’s big-hipped blazers, Simone Rocha’s voluminous frocks, Natasha Zinko’s gothic gowns, or even Erdem's vintage-like evening attire. But why the return of the attention-grabbing petticoat?

"I think we are seeing crinolines everywhere in Spring/Summer 26 collections from Reem Acra at New York Fashion Week to Simone Rocha at London Fashion Week (we actually saw them take centre stage at Couture fashion week earlier this year, too) because we have moved into a gilded era where excess is sought and being celebrated by the elite," shares celebrity stylist and fashion expert Marian Kwei as one possible answer.

Another? The fact that the Rococo era is trending. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi's new Wuthering Heights movie trailer has just dropped to plenty of applause—yes, it's Victorian, but the fashion follows similar rules. And Marie Antoinette's style exhibition has just opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, swiftly following the presumed French Queen's pink diamond ring selling at £10 million at action in June this year. Clearly, it's the season of a Rococo and Victorian renaissance.

"Marie Antoinette was possibly the first true style influencer and reference to her excess with regards her style is back inspiring fashion," adds Kwei. Although this isn’t the first time we’ve gone down this road: in 2006 Sofia Coppola released her Marie Antoinette film; in 2007 Girls Aloud’s I Can’t Speak French video drew on Rococo revival; and Dior’s Haute Couture 2007 collection featured petticoats and lavish pink palettes.

So clearly the twenty-year trend cycle is still standing firm, even if the original inspiration occurred much (much) longer before. And, as Kwei confirms, it also lines up with the more-is-more outset we’re currently seeing across fashion circles—bag charms, dopamine dressing, and Labubu’s included. Although how Marie Antoinette would feel about the latter, I’ll leave to your own imagination.

London is known to be the most edgy, creative and experimental of the 'big four' Fashion Week cities, seen both in its roster of buzzy, up-and-coming talents and street style of the most wonderfully weird and wacky kind. But the city has a softer sartorial side to it, too; one of effortless elegance, subtle sensuality and luxurious craftsmanship with its own kind of quiet power—and a decidedly more universal appeal.

This is what Camille Perry and Holly Wright set out to capture when they founded their brand Tove back in 2019, that has since become a go-to for stylish women the world over, from CEOs to celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Katie Holmes and Kendall Jenner. As former heads of buying and design for Topshop respectively, they were, and continue to be, intimately au fait with how women want to dress—a depressing rarity in an industry dominated by male creative directors. This, coupled with their fashion nous, design talent, focus on quality and consistent aesthetic vision has been a recipe for success.

"When we started out, there were two clear camps: there were the androgynous brands, and then those overtly feminine brands," Wright tells Marie Claire UK. "We wanted to strike a chord in the middle, that balanced both of those things, and placed the woman at the centre."

Where other high-end designers draw from academic sources and niche cultural references when putting together collections, Perry and Wright take inspiration from the Tove woman directly. "It's always about her, and she is a constant," explains Wright. "She is us and the women who are in our world. She's smart, she's intelligent, she's worldly and confident, and she dresses more for herself than for others. She is the real guiding force for our vision, and I think that's why the brand speaks to so many."

As a result, Tove's signature aesthetic has been clear from the outset: "modern, minimal, feminine, refined, but never boring" as Perry describes it, comparable to the likes of The Row, Khaite and Toteme. Perry and Wright have also remained steadfastly immune to the sway and vagaries of trends. "It's been easy, really, to stick to our vision and aesthetic, because when we first started the brand we were clear on the space we wanted it to sit in—that's where we could see the opportunity" says Wright. "We have our signature details, both subtle and front-facing, that set us apart, and really make something a Tove garment."

That said, Perry and Wright are always "keen to evolve" rather than simply "sit on one thing and then that becomes all we do"—tempting as that might have been following the viral hit that was their Lauryn dress (if you don't know the name, you'll recognise the gathered cups and fitted bodice).

Instead, they work hard to hone their vision each season. "The way we work is really instinctive," says Wright. "We bounce back and forth, we think about how we're feeling, our experiences, what we would love to wear at this time in our lives... It's a really organic approach."

For Spring/Summer 2026, this meant leaning into the Tove woman's sensuality more than ever before. "We're becoming more confident—this is the fourth collection we're showing on the runway, and it felt instinctively right to lean into that sexier side a little bit more," says Wright. "The fabrics are quite sensual, some are a bit sheer, there's lots of nice textures and a bit of skin too, but mainly in the back. It's a really nice way for us to show that side of the woman in our world, which is still refined and chic and effortless but a bit sexy as well. There's so much overt sexiness out there, but I think it's more that subtle, quiet confidence, that unexpected detail, that ability to command a room that women are really attracted to—more so than a completely see-through dress."

Tove's SS26 collection was unveiled during London Fashion Week yesterday, high above the city in the light-filled surrounds of Space House, and before an especially inspiring crowd of Tove women—ranging from Joy Crookes and Tiffany Hsu to influential artists, actors, creatives, stylists, doctors and businesswomen. All impeccably dressed head to toe in Tove, of course, and visibly adding the full collection to their mental new-season shopping lists, Grecian-style gowns, silky tailoring, backless tops and all.

Also of note: the brand's partnership with Pandora, that saw a number of Tove looks punctuated with a specially curated selection of jewels. "It was a really natural collaboration—we straight away had so many things in common with Pandora," explains Wright. "Our name is Danish, and they're Danish; they have a very female-led team; they're big on the sustainability side of things; their approach to design, the idea of making pieces that are cherished and passed on...

"We loved the opportunity to use and bespoke the collection as we saw fit, layering and putting different pieces together to elevate each look. We actually decided to engrave some of the tabs with symbols that represent different kinds of neurodiversity, because it's a subject that's really personal to us as parents to neurodiverse children, and it felt like such a lovely way to be able to mark and celebrate that."

The partnership marks yet another way that Tove is moving with the times, not only in terms of experimenting with a new category, but also by finding clever ways to stay in the Fashion Week game. "There's huge value in doing a show—you really can't beat that moment," says Perry. "It brings so much in terms of assets and visibility and people talking about the brand, pushing it out there socially on so many channels... But it is insanely expensive and it can be hard to justify for a lot of brands, big and small."

That said, Tove plans to show on-schedule in February, too—and as for its own prices, they won't be changing significantly anytime soon. "Everything is kind of wild with what's going on at the moment—tariffs, shipping charges, taxes, duties, Brexit... The list goes on. Prices seem to be increasing everywhere for everyone, and there's a huge pressure to balance the margins," says Wright. "But it's so important to us to keep a price point that is respectful while ensuring the quality is super high. We always intended to be aspirational but attainable, so we just work harder to be able to do that for the customer, and I think it's been pivotal to the success of the brand that we've been able to maintain that." Amid the often-exorbitant price hikes happening elsewhere, no doubt this will only serve to heighten Tove's already-significant appeal all the more.

London Fashion Week has officially wrapped for the Spring/Summer 2026 season, running from September 18th-22nd. It was the first under new BFC head Laura Weir, and one that was filled with all manner of standout shows, buzzy designer debuts, glitzy events, milestone brand moments and celebrity-filled front rows.

As ever, there was a lot going on—so whether you were in attendance or not, we've rounded up all of the major highlights from each day in one place to catch you up on all the most important events.

London Fashion Week SS26: Day Five Highlights

Burberry's Star-Studded Great British Festival

Burberry once again closed out London Fashion Week with a bang, bringing together big-name celebrities, musicians, fashion world icons and top editors in the exclusive surrounds of Kensington Palace Gardens. The list of VIPs was astounding, even by Burberry's high standards, and saw hundreds of Londoners crowd outside the venue for their chance to glimpse the likes of Sir Elton John, Central Cee, Raye, Twiggy, Lila Moss, Alexa Chung, the Gallagher brothers, Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, who served a surprise Ab Fab reunion.

As the guest-list might suggest, Daniel Lee's latest collection celebrated the powerful connection between fashion and music. "Music is about self-expression, originality and belonging. From festivals and stadiums to open-air concerts, every summer the UK comes to life with style and sound," explained Lee in the show notes. "Musicians have always been pioneers—fearless in the way they dress and sound. A legacy you’ll see in the looks, cast and styling." Hence: the festival-style tent setting (albeit of an extremely luxurious kind, and with painted-on blue skies), and on the catwalk, Noughties-style skinny scarves, boho fringing, lace-up boots, crochet, paillettes, parkas and suede aplenty.

Nanushka's London Debut

Hungarian-based brand Nanushka celebrated its 20th anniversary with an intimate show in an elegant South Kensington townhouse—its first-ever at London Fashion Week, and hopefully the start of many more. Founder and creative director Sandra Sándor took inspiration from Cuban furniture designer Clara Porset for the SS26 collection, that was entitled 'The Weave' and "paid homage to the spirit of functional beauty," per the show notes. Think: elegantly clashing prints, sensory textures, natural forms and crafted details that exude the "warmth, vibrancy and energy" of the season—and for many, resulted in an extremely long wish list following the show. The funnel-neck bomber jackets, striped dress and mens suede two-piece are top of mine.

Ashish Is Making Fashion Fun Again

The London-based, Delhi-born designer Ashish Gupta brought a much-needed injection of joy and energy to the final afternoon of Fashion Week, putting on a show that saw models expressively dance their way along the catwalk in his brand's typically bold, colourful, sparkly, happy-making clothes. An important reminder that fashion needn't always be so serious—it's for having unrestrained fun in, too. Meanwhile, a t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan 'Fashion Not Fascism' will do doubt be a best-seller.

Susan Fang Does Sci-Fi

The ever-innovative designer Susan Fang transported guests to an imagined future in the year 5202, "where nature and technology breathe as one". Set in the plant-filled Barbican Conservatory, a combination of live music, dance performances and bubble sculptures made for a multi-sensory experience—and the perfect backdrop for Fang's Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Cutting-edge technology and techniques were used to craft surreal silhouettes, dream-like details and soft, airy textures, while the designer's signature laser-cut flower petals and bubble beads were also front and centre. Highlights included surreal bridal designs and dresses, bags and glasses covered in hundreds of tiny mushrooms, so detailed that they almost looked alive.

London Fashion Week SS26: Day Four Highlights

Erdem Turns 20

For Spring/Summer 2026, Erdem Moralioglu was inspired by Hélène Smith, the late 19th-century Swiss medium, who was an Indian princess and member of the French court. She believed she had lived other lives at different times and in different places. Though Smith was eventually discredited, what endured was her relentless self-reinvention through art—a refusal to be confined to a single narrative. Reflecting this idea of transformation, the collection showcased antique lace, corsets, bustles, and delicate hand embroidery inspired by her paintings—with just as much detail on the back as the front. While Erdem’s signature craftsmanship remained (few designers on the London Fashion Week schedule can match his attention to detail), there was a surprising sense of ease to this collection: more relaxed, more colourful, and altogether more playful. An excellent way to mark 20 years of the brand, that remains independently owned to this day.

Quiet Evolution At Tove

Tove's SS26 collection—aptly named 'Confidence in Subversion'—saw the brand lean into sensuality more than ever before, albeit in their signature grown-up, elevated way. Structured high-neck tops featured unexpectedly exposed backs, Grecian-style gowns were crafted from fabrics that were subtly sheer in all the right places, and fluid dresses were slashed at the torso to reveal a surprise hint of skin. Meanwhile, the tailoring was fabulously fluid, the separates soft and silky, and jackets made from desaturated suede. As ever, these are pieces that offer that perfect mix of understated ease and comfort while still having the power to command a room—something that only women designing for other women can really do.

A Springtime Promenade With Kent & Curwen

Just over a year since making its London Fashion Week debut, heritage brand Kent & Curwen is already a much-loved fixture on the schedule thanks to its signature British eccentric aesthetic and transportive shows. This season, guests were immersed in the beauty of the Royal Parks, by way of screens set up around the Royal Horticultural Halls venue that displayed scenes of a typical British summer, from early-morning lido swimmers and leisurely dog walkers to the pedalos that pepper the Serpentine—all of which acted as inspiration for 'The Blossoming' collection. There were silhouettes and skirts reminiscent of swans, bags shaped like rugby balls and picnic blanket-like checks, alongside florals, colour-pop stripes, and crisp sporty whites. Preppy as ever, but decidedly fresh and delightfully wearable. Set against Erland Cooper's calming piano music, which the composer performed live, the show provided a much-needed moment of escapism for those in the throes of Fashion Week madness—much like London's parks do for inhabitants of the bustling metropolis.

Talia Byre's Runway Debut

Buzzy, up-and-coming brand Talia Byre kicked off a sunny day four with an intimate show on the edge of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens-its first since launching in 2020. “A manifesto to the clothes I want to wear,” as designer Talia Lipkin-Connor put it, the collection featured signature rugby stripes in new iterations alongside tailored trousers, bodysuits, light knits, apron dresses cut from bridal satin, and, for the first time, florals—all not just wearable, but downright desirable. You could almost see editors making a mental shopping list as each look emerged—and eyeing up the brilliantly reworked Uggs to boot.

London Fashion Week SS26: Day Three Highlights

A Supermodel Moment at Richard Quinn

Olivia Palermo, Saweetie, Amy Jackson, Lucy Bronze and more descended on the historic Sinfonia Smith Square for a 'A Night at the Opera', Richard Quinn style. Inside, extravagant floral displays, crystal chandeliers, gleaming marble fixtures and the English Chamber Orchestra awaited guests, whose annoyance at the hour-plus delay dissipated the moment Naomi Campbell stormed down the runway to open the show. As ever, sweeping princess gowns and old-world, grand bal glamour were the order of the day, and glittering embellishments, dramatic tulle skirts and big bows reigned supreme.

Ahluwalia's Exploration of Love

From Bollywood cinema to the Taj Mahal, Ahluwalia's collection—entitled 'Affinity'—paid homage to the high and lows of romantic love. Designs featured cultural motifs, embellishments and headwear that referenced her joint Indian and Nigerian heritage, though overall, it felt more elegant and pared-back than collections past. There was a stronger-than-usual emphasis on tailoring, while standout looks featured oversize fringed bags and blazers, alongside deliciously draped fabrics and satin dresses.

Jerry Hall: The Completedworks Clairvoyant

We’ve grown to depend on Completedworks to bring a touch of drama to London Fashion Week proceedings, and the contemporary jewellery brand dutifully obliged yet again—this season, tapping the iconic Jerry Hall to take the stage for its latest sketch. Her role? A fortune-telling tele-sales host, who ‘reads the soul’ of jewellery, vases, and trinkets from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The light-heartedly satirical script was specially commissioned for the occasion, and also featured cameos from Josephine De La Baume and Raven Smith.

Patrick McDowell's Love Letter to Lancashire

For his first show since winning the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design earlier this year—presented to him by the Princess of Wales, no less—Patrick McDowell went back to his roots. His SS26 collection is an ode to his late grandmother, who was born in Lancashire in 1923 to a family of fabric weavers, and inspired the designer to start sewing at a young age.

McDowell’s emotional tribute to his very own ‘Lancashire Rose’ included recordings of his grandmother’s voice intertwined in the show soundtrack and a recreation of her original passport (that held the show notes and a QR code for a video of her story), as well as rose motifs, and vintage-inspired silhouettes and design details. Battersea Power Station’s recently renovated Control Room A formed a fitting backdrop for guests that included the Spencer twins, Charli Howard, top editors and three generations of McDowell’s family.

London Fashion Week SS26: Day Two Highlights

Labrum's Epic "Osmosis" Collection

A collection that felt like a tale of two halves, yet ultimately was a cohesive study in delightful discord—true to Labrum’s world, where art, fashion, music, and culture intersect to create magic. Ultimately, wearability becomes key and looking beyond the playful styling, Labrum SS26 if full of clothes you’ll actually want to wear. Jewel tones—opal, ruby, and amethyst—appeared in bold blocks colours offset by utilitarian neutrals like khaki, muted lilac, and beige. Silver, shell-like stones, and rope embellishments became conversation pieces, adorning jacket hems, headwear, and ornate body jewellery.

Chopova's Take On Cheer

Classic Chopova Lowena—riotous fun and full of spirit. Naturally, skirts took centre stage, from denim drop-waists to chain mail iterations, with ornate riveting, lacing, and playful adornments. The modern pearly queen with a punk edge. “Cheerlore” brought football, cheerleading, and Bulgarian costume references into a modern clubhouse uniform—part team spirit, part rebellion. For the bold: do what you feel, wear the full look, play with colour and print! But for those print shy: look to simple singular statement pieces that will add depth to your wardrobe.

Fashion East Turns 25

To celebrate its 25th year as London's foremost talent incubator, Fashion East took over the Institute of Contemporary Arts—both for a dedicated retrospective exhibition (that runs until 21st September) as well as its Spring/Summer 2026 show. As ever, it showcased the work of three up-and-coming designers: Louis Mayhew (of Mayhew), Cameron Williams (Nuba) and Jacek Gleba, whose collections were undoubtedly some of the most cutting-edge and out-there we've seen this season so far.

Mithridate's Stellar Second Outing

Daniel Fletcher's second collection for Mithridate was a triumph, a combination of “1980s city revelry and British sporting heritage,” per the show notes. Town and country aesthetics were blended into one, as models emerged from the sun-soaked Royal Opera House backdrop in sharp tailoring, rugby shirts, sequin skirts and bomber jackets—while striped shirts, colourful knits and socks with loafers acted as a nod to school-day style. Hence the collection titled and opening song: Edge Of Seventeen. Even the front row was on-theme, filled with actors like Asa Butterfield, Georgie Farmer and Ellie Bamber, who made their name on hit teen shows.

London Fashion Week SS26: Day One Highlights

H&M's Celebrity Extravaganza

H&M helped kick off London Fashion Week with a serious bang, as it took over 180 Strand for its first on-schedule show in seven years—and everyone from Central Cee, Little Simz and Gabbriette to ASAP Nast and Emily Ratajkowski was there to mark the occasion (along with about 700 more guests).

But it wasn't just the front row that was star-studded: the show itself saw top models Lila Moss, Iris Law, Paloma Elsesser, Amelia Gray and Alex Consani take to the runway dressed in the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, and there was a surprise catwalk cameo from appearance from Romeo Beckham to boot. And the cherry on top? Lola Young's live performance to close out the show, as the models danced along. Now that's how you make your grand return.

eBay's Pre-Loved Fashion Show

For the second season in a row, eBay hosted a catwalk show made up entirely of pre-loved fashion sourced directly from the site—this time, including designer gems from the likes of Acne, Louis Vuitton, Chopova Lowena, Paco Rabanne, McQueen and Givenchy. The inventive ensembles were expertly assembled by eBay's pre-loved style director Amy Bannerman, with each piece available to shop in real time as it came down the runway.

London Fashion Week has always been known as the renegade cousin of the “core four” cities, with a scrappier fashion scene that often prizes creative genius above commercial viability (although the most successful brands, it has to be said, manage to marry both). After the news cycle of the past few years, however, it’s an understatement to say it’s been a challenging era for the industry.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. The British Fashion Council’s new CEO, Laura Weir, is feeling hopeful about the future, believing in the capital’s ability to rebound. “For so long we’ve been stuck in the doldrums of post-Brexit, post-COVID, and there’s no diminishing that as the painful time it’s been. But now it’s about the next era, rebuilding British fashion and the ecosystem that exists here to a point where it garners the respect it deserves,” Weir said in an interview with WWD.

And there’s plenty on the schedule to draw the world’s eye, once again, to London, with sophomore collections, award-winning talent and anniversaries to celebrate over five jam-packed days of fashion featuring 157 designers, 50 catwalk shows and 74 events.

Mithridate returns for its second collection by Daniel Fletcher, the menswear designer who created one of last season’s most delightful collections (many a fashion editor bookmarked its preppy knits, sequinned shifts and knee-length skirts for AW25). With fans including Olivia Dean, Will Sharpe and Nicola Coughlan, it could very well be a celeb-packed front row, too.

In May, Patrick McDowell was presented with the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, an honour that has previously been bestowed on brands including SS Daley, Labrum London, Saul Nash and Ahluwalia. Taking the first slot on Saturday, McDowell’s collection promises to be worth setting your alarm for.

Fashion East is the capital’s indefatigable talent incubator that has launched the careers of countless designers, continuing to be a conveyor belt of future creative directors that fuels the global fashion industry. This year, it’s celebrating its 25th birthday with a roster of free panel talks, screenings and exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, as well as a catwalk show comprising its current designers: Nuba, Jacek Gleba and Mayhew. Other notable birthdays include Roksanda, that's turning 20, and Erdem, that is similarly leaving its teenage years behind.

Loved by Charli XCX, Kylie Jenner, Cate Blanchett and Dua Lipa, Dilara Findikoglu has carved out a niche for herself as the most weird and wonderful designer to show in London (seriously, people will queue outside in the rain for a standing ticket). For SS26, as reported in WWD, she’s taking a brand known for its museum-worthy pieces into new territory, “introducing handbags, presenting more ready-to-wear looks and amping up wholesale and direct-to-consumer operations.”

Newcomers to the schedule include several brands that have received backing from the BFC's NEWGEN, including Oscar Ouyang, the buzzy knitwear designer whose clothes are stocked at Dover Street Market, as well as Octi, the jewellery brand that prides itself on being "made in London". E.W.USIE will also be appearing in the presentation space (and already has a fan in Emma Corrin).

And finally, to Nanushka. The Budapest-based label is making a guest-star appearance on the schedule. As Sandra Sándor, its founder and creative director, told Fashion United: “London holds a special place in my heart and has been instrumental in my personal growth and professional journey. Studying here provided the foundation and laid the first stones for building Nanushka 20 years ago. It’s a true honour to not only have our flagship store in London, but also to present a runway show in such a vibrant city this season.”

Vibrant is the word for London, with an industry that prides itself on welcoming designers around the world to live, work and create in the capital. We can't wait to see what they deliver this season.

Starting strong, Harris Reed kicked off London Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2026 edition with a theatrical display that blended baroque-inspired silhouettes with modern elegance. We couldn't help but notice design cues reminiscent of Nina Ricci—the fashion house Reed currently leads.

This morning, Laura Weir, the new CEO of the British Fashion Council, officially opened London Fashion Week with a powerful speech, setting out a vision of “positive transformation” and celebrating the energy, craft, and cultural weight of British fashion.

She spoke of removing barriers to entry, loosening criteria to welcome fresh perspectives and returning voices, while also rejecting the all-too-common dismissal of fashion as "fluffy". Instead, Weir reminded us that London Fashion Week represents an entire living economy — from designers and makers to stylists, technicians and beyond — and is one of the UK's most vital cultural exports.

Her call to champion creativity, open doors to new talent and showcase London on the global stage resonates deeply with us at Marie Claire. Nurturing and championing homegrown talent is at the heart of our manifesto — and we’re proud to stand alongside those shaping fashion’s future.

Daniel Fletcher's second collection for Mithridate was unveiled this morning with a star-studded show at the Royal Opera House. Sex Education's Asa Butterfield, Wednesday's Georgie Farmer and Ellie Bamber were spotted sitting together on the front row, alongside the likes of Nick Grimshaw, Betty Bachz and Jenny Walser.

Taking place in the Central Hall of Westminster and with music from the Balimaya Project mixing west African rhythms with UK jazz, street soul, and contemporary improvisation Foday crafted a world where music, fashion, culture and art coexist in harmony.

Patrick McDowell, winner of this year’s British Fashion Council’s Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design kicked off the second day of London Fashion Week. Inspired by his grandmother—the reason he began to sew from a young age—the collection was a love letter to her and her memory. Each guest received a passport with a QR code which took us to a video telling her story, followed by garment details and traceability of each item of clothing.

"Fashion is not just about shows and clothes. Fashion gives us a preview of society’s next chapter. It’s time to write a new story together," said Laura Weir, the new CEO of the British Fashion Council, at last night's summer party. And with that, she announced a new and particularly exciting action plan to put British fashion—and, importantly, London Fashion Week (LFW)—back on the map.

After all, as any fashion fan will know, LFW has been rapidly losing talent to the likes of Paris and Milan for several seasons now—Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Paul Smith among them.

This, Weir says, is "not because of a lack of creativity, but because of a lack of infrastructure to support our designers to make, create, show and importantly, to scale in this country." So, she has a solution. Designer members will no longer need to pay to showcase at London Fashion Week this September. There will be an increase in scholarship funding for the next generation of designers. The ever-successful BFC NEWGEN programme has secured another three years of funding. And, in a bid to give British designers a global stage, investment in the international LFW guest programme has doubled.

Plus, led by Sarah Mower—one of the world’s most respected fashion critics—we’ll see the pilot of the BFC Fashion Assembly, taking designers back to their former schools across the country to inspire the next generation to consider a career in fashion.

With the key aim of making UK fashion a nationwide mission—not solely focused on London—while creating an environment where designers can truly thrive, we could soon be seeing a British fashion boom. Here’s hoping.

If you work in the fashion industry, chances are that you have been breathing a sigh of relief, as the AW25 season has just wrapped. Across the weeks, there were a dizzying array of sartorial looks, and crucially, for my purposes, some truly excellent beauty across hair, make-up and nails.

I have spent the last month running around backstage, and then glued to my laptop, to bring Marie Claire UK readers the most defining looks straight from the Autumn/Winter 2025 runways. There was our detailed beauty report from London Fashion Week, as well as the best street-style looks across our hometown, and Paris, Milan and New York.

And now, it's over... Well, kind of. While we're only now entering into the warmer season, the trendiest amongst us are already thinking about what's to come. Below are the very best autumn/winter 2025 fashion month beauty looks that you'll be seeing everywhere, soon.

Paris

Chanel

Smoked-out, grungy eyes were the name of the game at Chanel—looks like an indie sleaze revival might just get off the ground this year.

Christian Dior

Bushy brows, clear skin and balmy lips were all over Dior. It's pared back, minimalist, and was a look that was seen all over the runways this season.

Miu Miu

Updos have been everywhere of late; from Margaret Qualley's Oscars hair to the street-style looks I spotted across the globe. I am particularly partial to Miu Miu's take though; it is undone, lived-in and just feels effortless, and not too staid.

Valentino

This season, I have waxed lyrical about the return of tonal make-up. I did not, however, expect to see it in Alessandro Michele's sophomore debut for Valentino, but it worked perfectly to balance his avant-garde stylings.

Acne

At Acne, hair lead Anthony Turner used Schwarzkopf to create striking hair looks that captured “the essence of modern duality”. There was a contrast between the masculine and feminine elements, with the top being sleek and structured, “a handsome boyish” look, while the back was soft, long and natural.

Louis Vuitton

At Louis Vuitton, the lips did the talking. This statement vampy red is something that I can't wait to recreate once the seasons change.

Loewe

At Balenciaga, hair was super long, and natural. With a messy middle part, it looks like the model had gently curled her hair the night before, and let it come undone.

Issey Miyake

Anthony Turner also did the hair at Issey Miyake, using Schwarzkopf. This time around, the hair was firmly transitional. He said: “[It’s about] the in-between phase where hair is neither one thing nor the other. It’s about the journey, creating two looks in one: dry moving into wet or wet into dry. This duality brings an unexpected edge, making the hair feel fluid and transformative.”

Chloé

At Chloé, the hair was effortlessly undone and chic, thanks to Gary Gill, who used Authentic Beauty Concept. He said: "The idea is a confident girl who gets up, leaves the house, and doesn’t mind if she sleeps on her hair—it’s all about a real, nice, gentle, and easy feel."

Hermès

At Hermès, hair was short and slicked. I've said it time and time again that this is the year of the bob, and I love this take—it oozes professionalism, with a bit of 80's prep to freshen it up.

Milan

Fendi

Workplace professionalism is always a theme when it comes to the autumn/winter season, but Fendi's take on it felt distinctly editorial with the addition of a sweeping side-part.

Prada

Prada has long been the queen of the bedhead, and this season's show was no different. Models wore their hair slightly unruly, embracing natural texture and frizz. I'm so here for it.

Versace

Bold, glossy, lips were the statement at Versace this season. The colour skewed towards a darker, vampy burgundy, and it was finished off with a thick clear gloss.

Gucci

Soft, blurred skin that looked velvety in texture was all over the runway for Gucci. While we're not seeing a return to all out highlighter, portions of models' faces were gently illuminated, as if they were lit from within.

Giorgio Armani

This subtle, yet effective, graphic eyeliner look at Giorgio Armani waves the green flag to experiment with make-up this upcoming season.

Roberto Cavalli

Almost skin-coloured, barely-there brows were spotted at Roberto Cavalli.

Max Mara

I am obsessed with these undone, tousled waves at Max Mara. They're perfectly coifed but refreshingly messy, and non-precise.

Sportmax

Bare-faced make-up was given editorial update at Sportmax. Here, the focus was on accentuating the features gently, without any one thing drawing the eye to it. It's about the face as a whole, rather than the classic emphasis on the eye or the lip.

Missoni

At Missoni, the long, over-grown fringes were absolutely stellar, and incited a collective exhalation from people like me, who have high maintenance bangs. Here, they were almost wispy at the front, and looked lightweight.

London

Harris Reed

At Harris Reed, it's always about the lashes. Models wore inches-long sculptural lashes in shades of cobalt blue, black and metallic gold. The designer collaborated with Charlotte Tilbury once more on the make-up front. The brand's Global Artistry Director, Sofia Tilbury, kept complexions neutral and glowy to prioritise the eyes, using Charlotte Tilbury's limited-edition palette of Beautifying Eye trends in Super Neutral, The Feline Flick eyeliner and lashings of the Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara to dial up the drama.

And then, on top, it was all about glass hair. Using Dyson, lead hairstylist Ali Pirzadeh drew inspiration from the clothing's sharp lines and cage-like shapes to create sculptural barnets. Key looks saw the hair pushed away from the face, and lifted in the temples, in the guise of a highly-glossed ponytail and modelled bun.

Burberry

Tonal make-up was across several runways this season, but Burberry's take—with soft pops of peach, ochre, coral and terracotta. It's a subtle, but very wearable, injection of colour for the autumn/winter 2025 season.

SS Daley

At SS Daley, Anna Cofone, Global Creative Advocate for Authentic Beauty Concept created hair looks that were tousled, yet controlled. Backstage, Cofone told Marie Claire UK that she drew on the interplay between masculine and feminine to create looks that were incredibly precise; replete with elegant coifs that swept the hair off the face. If you looked closely, not a hair was out of place, but it still looked effortlessly undone.

Richard Quinn

At Richard Quinn, Terry Barber, Global Creative Director of Artistry at M.A.C, referenced "IT girls" from the 60s, including Julie Christie, Jean Shrimpton and Dianna Ross. There was a swipe of blue eyeshadow across the eyelids, a nude lip and opalescent highlights—the latter of which Barber said will be returning this year.

Dreaming Eli

At Dreaming Eli, M.A.C's Senior Artist Carly Utting said backstage: "It's not an Instagram-perfect look, it's like you've had it on for six hours... It’s like Alexa Chung in the 90’s post-Glastonbury, with a Shirly Manson chunky lash. Thick lashes are definitely having a moment, we’ve seen quite a lot in the past few weeks in New York."

Chet Lo

Cafone also used Authentic Beauty Concept when leading on the hair at Chet Lo. The look revolved around panels of crimped hair, which resembled and reflected the patterns within Lo's clothing.

Annie's Ibiza

This season, Annie's Ibiza was a big nod to Renaissance beauty and youthful romance. Sam McKnight used extensions to achieve long, softly waved and crimped lengths, which were topped with braided updos and dropped plaits. The real stars of the show were the chunky, glossed braids, which McKnight described as "little horns" when I was backstage.

Roksanda

Statement lips came in unconventional colours at Roksanda, like this striking, glossy blackened teal.

Emilia Wickstead

Blurred, satin skin also reigned supreme at Emilia Wickstead. The skin was prepped by EVE LOM's master facialist Jon Rummins, who used the brand’s Radiance Repair Retinol Serum, Daily Rejuvenating Cream and Renewal Treatment Oil for “modern, luminous, fresh skin”.

Simone Rocha

At Simone Rocha, blush was applied onto the cheeks via a thick sweep—the colour was decidedly ruddy and apricot-leaning. It made for a natural flush, as if the models had just been outdoors in the countryside all day.

Erdem

Blurred, soft-focus lips, in gorgeous pink-coral shades, were spotted on the runway at Erdem—it's proof that light, more spring-adjacent colours also work in the cooler months.

New York

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren nailed long, bohemian waves this season.

Carolina Herrera

I can't get enough of this entire Carolina Herrera look; from the stacked bob to the dewy skin, perhaps it's the dark, rosy lip that takes the cake.

Coach

Unfussy, shaggy hair spotted at Coach, screamed "back to school".

Tory Burch

Greige, cool-toned eyeshadow softly washed across the eyelids harked to the 90's revival at Tory Burch.

Christian Cowan

Bright pink accents at Christian Cowan broke up more minimalist beauty looks at NYFW.

Off-white

These balmy, hydrated looking lips added a juicy accent to the face at Off-White.

For the last 20 years, Roksanda Ilinčić has been at the forefront of seamlessly merging the world of expression with the craft of design at London Fashion Week through her eponymous label, ROKSANDA.

Delivering collections with structural shapes that are intricately made to perfection with strategic colour blocking techniques that have always managed to light up an otherwise dull London day.

"In the centre of my work is the woman and everything she expresses and endures. It's also about merging the art of expression with the craft of design. I want to create pieces that feel both contemporary and timeless, garments that have a lasting quality but also speak to the moment we’re in," says Ilinčić in conversation with Marie Claire UK.

"There’s something deeply personal in each design, a quiet invitation for individuality to emerge. I want the pieces to feel like an extension of the wearer’s strength and presence."

And this Autumn/Winter 2025 collection was no different.

Delivering a 35-piece collection, ROKSANDA collaborated with Dylon Detergent for the ultimate display of garment care. Reaching into the brand's extensive archive and gently renewing three pieces with Dylon innovative formula to showcase how simple extending your garment's life can be.

"Dylon has added an extra layer to my longstanding affinity for colour and a bold vibrancy that’s always been a cornerstone of what I do—going through my fabric archive and choosing what to experiment with felt like a conversation between the old and the new," says Ilinčić. "The three runway looks created a wonderful spotlight of chosen fabrications from the past with an exciting sense of innovation and renewal."

The three archival pieces perfectly complemented the rest of the collection and stood as an example of ROKSANDA's prominent aesthetic whilst demonstrating how easy upcycling your clothes can be.

This season, the creative director turned to artist Phyllida Barlow for inspiration. Known for her unwieldy, playful, and colourful installations, Barlow's work has long inspired Ilinčić, from her use of recycled materials to the exploration behind her work.

"I admire Phyllida’s way of repurposing discarded objects and breathing new life into something otherwise forgotten," says Ilinčić. "For this collection, we revisited old materials and trims, many of which had been used in previous collections, and reimagined them into something entirely new.

What followed was architectural success that featured soft drapery, structural tailoring, and bright displays of ROKSANDA's prowess when it comes to using colour. Completed with Dylon's expert touches to advocate how long-lasting style can go hand-in-hand with responsible consumption.

It’s fashion month, and there’s plenty of inspiration flying around from Paris to Berlin. Whether it’s the best street style or the most impressive shows, we’re reporting on the ground to make sure you don’t miss a trick.

London Fashion Week kicks off in the capital this week. While some of our favourites are missing from the schedule — JW Anderson, Chopova Lowena and 16Arlington, for example — there’s still plenty to be excited about.

Aside from the obvious big names (Burberry and Simone Rocha, we're looking at you) below are some schedule highlights not to be missed.

Dilara Findikoglu

After skipping last season, Dilara Findikoglu is returning to the schedule for AW25. Last February she took us to an abandoned, gothic church in the heart of Shoreditch for her show entitled ‘Femme Vortex’ where she created an alternate universe, free from toxic masculinity. Given the state of the world this time around, we can’t help but wonder what she’ll have been cooking up. The Turkish designer, who was nominated for the BFC’s New Establishment Womenswear award last year, and has just been shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2025, ensures her label’s shows are always high drama, high impact and not to be missed.

LFW Shop

This season, the BFC are opening The London Fashion Week shop at 245 Regent Street. Shoppers will be able to peruse an exclusive archive collection from some of LFW’s most iconic names including 16Arlington, Ahluwalia, Bianca Saunders, Completedworks, Conner Ives, Helen Kirkum, Johanna Parv and Saul Nash. You can also sign up to attend a number of events including panel discussions, workshops and piercings by Aurum London.

The LFW Shop is part of the City Wide Celebration (CWC), a programme of events and promotions open to the public during LFW.

Caroline Rush, CEO of British Fashion Council, said in a release: “Each season, the impact of LFW can be seen across the capital through the City Wide Celebration. We are committed to championing retail in the UK and are proud to see LFW continue to lead the way by opening its doors to consumers and fostering connections between brands, retailers, and customers.”

S.S. Daley

Steven Stokey-Daley’s buzzy namesake label is financially backed by Harry Styles, who purchased a minority stake last January. The singer attended the designer’s debut womenswear show last September, who sat in the front row next to Anna Wintour nonetheless. After initially announcing it would be showing as a part of men’s Paris Fashion Week in January, the label will now show as part of women’s in London. Whether Mr Styles will be in attendance remains to be seen, but we’re certainly looking forward to the latest offering from one of the UK’s most exciting new talents.

E.L.V. Denim

This sustainable denim brand has long been a Marie Claire favourite, thanks to its high quality, great fit and brand mission. E.L.V. Denim will make its LFW debut this season on Thursday evening, with a presentation entitled ‘The Journey’. Founder Anna Foster told Marie Claire last December: “E.L.V. was born with the sole purpose of only ever repurposing existing garments. I believe as an industry we have a duty to revalue all the material that already exists in some form or another. Denim was designed to be a long-lasting work fabric, it is the biggest polluting textile in the world, so it seemed like the perfect place to start.”

Ashish

Designer Ashish Gupta announced last week that he would be showing at LFW this season. He hasn’t hosted a show since Spring/Summer 2024 — where models lounged on a giant swan shaped bed underneath the words ‘Everybody Is A Star’ — instead opting to release seasonal lookbooks. With his signature use of sequins, tongue-in-cheek slogans and sustainable fabrics, he’s a much-needed, joyful addition to the schedule.

Mithridate

Last month, Chinese-based label Mithridate announced British designer Daniel Fletcher as its new creative director. With a new logo and a new campaign starring Alexa Chung, Fletcher’s new vision for the brand (which has shown in London for the past eight seasons) will be officially unveiled at its catwalk show on Friday. It was a surprise move for Mithridate, which launched in 2018 and specialised in evening-wear under former creative director Demon Zhang. Fletcher founded his eponymous London-based menswear in 2015, and currently serves as creative director of Royal Ascot. He was previously creative director at Fiorucci.

Alo Oasis

Alo have once again partnered with LFW as the event’s official wellness partner. This season, the lifestyle brand will be taking over 1Hotel Mayfair, with the intention of bringing Los Angeles’ wellness culture to London. Encouraging guests to take a restorative pause from fashion week mayhem, it will be hosting a series of movement classes, wellness experiences such as sound baths, breath work and vitamin drips, as well as beauty treatments. Find us hiding out there…

Keburia

Keburia is a womenswear and accessories label from Georgia, making its LFW debut this season. George Keburia, a self-taught designer, founded his fun-loving eponymous label in 2015. His playful designs have already garnered a celebrity fan-base, and last season the label showcased a T-shirt which read ‘I heart cringe’ which honestly, we're still thinking about. We’re always excited to see new talent, and this is a debut not to be missed.

Talia Byre

Last season, Talia Byre’s off-schedule presentation was the talk of editors and industry insiders alike — so it's no surprise that she has just been shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2025. Graduating from the prestigious Central Saint Martins in 2020, her sustainable label is named in tribute to her great uncle’s Liverpool-based boutique ‘Lucinda Byre’. Her clothes tell stories, play with colour, and make women feel good. Her presentation is on-schedule this season, on Friday morning — we can’t wait to see what she has in store.

NewGen Designer Showcase

On the final day of the event, NewGen designers Ancuta Sarca, Johanna Parv, Karoline Vitto, Kazna Asker, Lueder, Masha Popova, Paolo Carzana and Pauline Dujancourt will be joining forces for an all day showcase at 180 The Strand. While some have their own stand-alone shows dotted throughout the rest of the week, this will be a chance to get up close to the AW25 collections, and be inspired by upcoming talent.

It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year — that’s fashion week, not Christmas and the British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced the preliminary schedule for autumn/winter 2025 in February, running from Thursday 20th to Monday 24th.

As usual, Harris Reed will kick off the proceedings on Thursday evening. His namesake label joined the official schedule for the first time last season. Newcomers this time around are Jawara Alleyne, who was name checked earlier this year by Rihanna as her favourite designer, and Keburia, a womenswear and accessories label from Georgia (we’re obsessed with its ‘I heart cringe’ T-shirt from spring/summer 2025).

The schedule includes LFW staples Burberry, Erdem, Roksanda, Richard Quinn and Simone Rocha, but is notably missing JW Anderson.

Jonathan Anderson, who won designer of the year at the British Fashion Awards earlier this month, will not show menswear in Milan this January either. Loewe, where Anderson is creative director, is also missing from Paris Fashion Week’s recently released schedule.

All of this has re-ignited existing rumours that Anderson will be next to make a move in the fashion industry's game of creative director musical chairs. While there’s no official comment as of yet, something is afoot — watch this space.

The BFC NewGen designers, who will show at 180 The Strand, include Ancuta Sarca, Chet Lo, Di Petsa, Sinéad O'Dwyer, Johanna Parv and Lueder.

The event is also running a day shorter, as it usually extends until Tuesday. As announced in September, Caroline Rush (CEO of the BFC) is stepping down from her post in June 2025, making this her last February LFW.

London Fashion Week might have given a glimpse of what we'll be wearing come Spring/Summer 2025, but the cobbles were where everyone looked to for how to dress this Autumn.

Whilst at New York Fashion Week, everyone wore red, in London I spotted one major trend: grunge.

The trend itself was originally born in Seattle in the mid-80s, thanks to new alternative rock bands such as Pearl Jam and Nirvana. It really took off in the 90s, with early adopters copying the style of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love.

Oversized silhouettes were de rigueur, as were ripped jeans, baggy t-shirts, leather jackets, plaid shirts, Doc Martens, Vans and plenty of layers. It was no surprise that this new way of dressing became so popular in London, a capital with a rich history of music itself.

Those grunge elements are still going strong today, though the Street Style set has put a more polished spin to them this season. Apart from a few baggy jeans and oversized leather jackets, silhouettes were more fitted.

I spotted low-slung shiny leather trousers, paired with black JW Anderson crop tops. Plaid culottes with cropped t-shirts. Ultra mini skirts with crushed velvet jumpers. Sheer tops paired with baggy jeans.

My favourite was this influencer's (picture above right) ladylike take on the trend, with her tartan cape, burgundy tights and white heels.

Fashion month is well and truly underway with two cities down and a host of incredible Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Month beauty looks left in their wake. This weekend it was the turn of London to host all the most stylish celebs, influencers and industry insiders and, as a proud London dweller myself, I am pleased to say we did not disappoint.

While the New York Fashion Week beauty looks were big on impact (hello, ruby red lips) and required maximum effort (those un-done up-dos may look easy, but there’s skill in achieving the perfect I-woke-up-like-this look), true to British form, London was all about embracing and elevating what comes naturally. Think ultra-light bases courtesy of skin tints and autumn haircuts that work with the hair's natural texture.

It resulted in an array of beauty trends that felt ultra-cool and not too try hard—something that people can fall prey to during fashion month when all eyes are sure to be on them. It also means these fashion-week-approved beauty trends are incredibly easy to recreate yourself at home while still taking your beauty routine to the next level. Want to see for yourself? 1. Long hair, don’t care

We may have become short hair obsessed in recent months but you wouldn’t know it if you took to the streets of London this week. Outside the shows, long hair was pretty much all I spotted, worn in relaxed un-done styles that showcased each person’s natural texture. The result was one of complete effortlessness, perfectly epitomised by Simone Ashley’s tousled side sweep at 16Arlington.

2. Perfect ponytails

Any hair that wasn’t worn down was swept into a relaxed high ponytail. Once again, tapping into that easy-going effortless feel, for most, all intricate detailing went out the window. No hair accessories or fancy tying technique, just a sleek, simple ponytail was all that was needed.

3. Soft skin tints

When it came to make-up, full-coverage bases were switched for natural-looking tints that allowed each person’s skin to shine through. Rather than dewy or glass finishes, which we saw previously in New York, radiance was the priority for a lit-from-within, yet shine-free, finish.

4. Peach palette

While peach-toned blushes and lip colours may seem most at home in summer and on sunny days, they were a go-to for those sitting FROW this weekend. Rather than hyper-bright coral tones, muted peaches were worn across the cheeks and lips for subtle co-ordination.

5. Berry lips

Traditional autumnal colours still made an appearance most commonly in the form of dark berry lips. We spotted plum, dark cherry and ruddy brown shades all worn in various finishes, however Jameela Jamil’s rich purple lip at JW Anderson has to be a favourite.

6. Neat nails

While some opted for bright nail looks (neon green and ice white were the go-tos), most kept things muted in shades of cream, pastel pink and sheer nude. The length was also kept short in keeping with the minimalist approach to beauty we’ve seen on all fronts during London Fashion Week.

7. Espresso liner

For those who preferred to shy away from colour, 90s nude tones on the eyes and cheeks were paired with brown lip liner and a clear or nude gloss. The resulting combination felt nostalgic in a chic and sophisticated way.

8. Clips on clips

If you’re wondering about hair accessories trends, on a whole they were minimal this fashion week. We spotted the occasional bow or elasticated headband (most notably on Iris Law at Burberry), however most opted for a more natural finish. What did steal our attention, however, was this simple yet statement hair clip look which has maximum impact with minimal effort. Special mention also goes to her subtle blue eyeshadow look—perfection!

9. You’re blushing

There are so many trending ways to apply blush right now so it’s not surprising there were a few different styles on show at London Fashion Week. For a soft look, influencer Edie Liberty Rose’s blown-out blush was sheer perfection giving her overall make-up look a magical feel.

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 is officially underway. The Marie Claire fashion team is on the ground, bringing you all the stand-out moments from the catwalks – and a preview of next season's trends.

Kent&Curwen

September always feels like a new school year, even if you have long graduated – something that KENT&CURWEN embraced for Spring/Summer 2025.

The school uniform was deconstructed and personalised in an irreverence yet considered manner; the classic trench coat was cropped and paired with a pair of matching culottes, while the rugby shirt was reimagined as a twisted, nipped-waist dress.

Creative Director Daniel Kearns also made use of the 98-year-old brand's founding product, the club tie. It was worn traditionally, tied at the waist, and transformed into a dress.

Patrick McDowell

Queer British artist Glyn Philpot was the inspiration behind Patrick McDowell's Spring/Summer 2025 collection. They dived into the Tate archives to explore letters written by the artist to close friends and family, to look at the person behind the art. This collection bridges the gap between both personalities, celebrating true authenticity.

His works are re-imagined through painterly prints on ethereal dresses and delicate fabrics. masculine blazers and shirts are paired with tulle skirts and pastel colours. Closing the show: a wedding gown donated by the Philpot family, re-imagined with black tulle.

Richard Quinn

Few shows bring us almost to tears, but Richard Quinn is always one of them. The gowns are beautiful yes, but it is the way he showcases them with the reverence they deserve that truly sets him apart from the rest - think ballrooms and orchestras.

There were big sleeves and high necks, 3D flowers and beaded ones, full tulle skirts and slim velvet and beaded ones. These are gowns that are unapologetically romantic and dramatic. Alongside his classic colour palette or black and white were bursts of colour: a red tulle gown with black bows, a baby pink beaded column dress with a bow at the back, a floral beaded yellow dress and matching coat, and of course gowns adorned with rose motifs in bold yellow and pink hues. It's no surprise that Quinn is known as the couture king of fashion week.

BORA AKSU

Inspired by feminine beauty, Bora Aksu's Spring/Summer 2025 collection celebrates the memory of the designer's late mother. With their shared passion for style, the collection journeys through their Turkish heritage through use of colours and lush silhouettes, whilst retaining the collection's homage by weaving in Birsen Aksu's style, character and uniqueness.

The collection comes with rich silhouettes in the form of billowing skirts, cropped tailored jackets, draped shirting and sharp tailoring. Weaving in femininity by using intricate lace throughout the pieces and dainty ribbons on the temple's of each mode's cat-eye sunglasses. Colours varied from soft pastel hues like dusty pink, sky blue and egg yolk with fuses of red for added drama and romanticism.

COMPLETEDWORKS

An ethereal performance, Completedworks was beautifully set amongst the fresh gardens of Gordon Square Park. It features model Lily Cole and actress Diana Agron, both in the brand's famed jewellery with soft orchestrated music, which brings an ode to spring during one of London's coldest autumn days (so far). In a continuing expansion of the jewellery context, creative director Anna Jewsbury commissioned an original work by author Fatima for the Spring/Summer 2025 show entitled ‘A Stone is a Small Mountain” to be performed live by Cole and Agron.

The pieces held designs synonymous with the brand, including intricate pearls and textured contemporary silhouettes. Handbags included bow motifs that explored an elegant yet disruptive aesthetic with the introduction of their bucket bag that reimagines a classic design.

Di Petsa

Marking a triumphant return, Di Petsa's Spring/Summer 2025 collection is an introspective collection inspired by creative director, Dimitra Petsa's Greek origins by exploring the ancient Greek myth of Ariadne and Theseus. Exploring desire, loss, love, the collection titled "My Body is a Labyrinth" unveils a personal journey with a nostalgic summertime memory.

Models were draped in the brand's iconic 'wet looks' and hearts imprinted on the skin by tanlines. Vibrant silks and meshes dyed in vibrant degradé colours nodded beautifully to the idea of summer. Prints inspired by menstrual blood, such as printed trousers and stains on models, revealed a central motif that explored a bold symbol of female power and the cyclical nature of life and creation.

Yuhan Wang

An alluring collection that celebrates the female trailblazers that have made their mark on the works of boxing, Yuhan Wang's Spring/Summer 2025 collection balances strength with softness. As an ode to prominent names in the boxing industry like Alaia Ali, Barbara Butterick, Bridget Riley, and Jane Couch, this collection aims to celebrate those who have broken barriers in a male-dominated arena.

Amognst traditional boxing attire like boxing shorts and gloves, Yuhan Wang incorporated soft touches of lace and waist-cinching corsets decorated with soft ribbons. Whilst accessorising with traditional ballerina flats and Chanitilly lace skirts, reminiscent of classic ballerina tutus. As for the footwear, Dainty 19th century-inspired court shoes, another Yuhan Wang mainstay, take an athletic turn with block colour panels and mesh inserts.

Chet Lo

Another impeccable homage to unstoppable female figures, Chet Lo's Spring/Summer 2025 was a strong display of love and tenacity. Seeing the designer's mother reflected across the 31 looks, the collection titled 'Mai's Blossoms' reinterprets his mother's wardrobe with the designer's classicly reimagined signature spiked designs with contemporary takes on pleated trousers, onesies, mini dresses and accessories. With a seamless collection, Chet Lo even took his final bow hand-in-hand with his mother, Mai-Wah Cheung to conclude an emotive show.

Karoline Vitto

London-based Brazilian designer Karoline Vitto is famed for her celebratory shows. Her designs highlight her Brazilian roots and the female body, with subtle hints of ominous shadows settling upon a beach in Rio de Janeiro.

With two Fashion East shows under her belt and a continuous appraisal for its size-inclusive casting, the collection included dramatic floor-length maxi skirts rippling amongst the floor with slinky criss-cross silhouetted dresses in flashes of red scarlet, bright pink, and stormy blue.

MITHRIDATE

Debuting its newest collection as part of the official London Fashion Week schedule, Mithridate presented a stunning tribute to Yunnan, the southwestern province of China. The collection celebrated its rich traditions through colours, craftsmanship, and its infamous reputation for being the second-largest flower trading city globally.

Including key materials like lace, denim, sik and cotton, the collection emobodies the perfcet fusion of tradition and innovation.

Sinead Gorey

An ode to youth and nostalgia, Sinead Gorey's Spring/Summer 2025 collection was rebellious and joyful in equal measure. Set in a school gymnasium decked out in pink balloons and tinsel, for many of us, it was the prom we never got. Think stripes, corsets and studs, as well as knee-high and wedged iterations of Converse trainers.

AHLUWALIA

'Home Sweet Home' was the name that Creative Director Priya Ahluwalia gave to her eponymous label's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which was peppered with references to her Indian-Nigerian heritage. There were, for example, floral and leaf prints that paid homage to the designer's grandparents' first home in the UK.

Inspired by Peruvian artist and writer Jorge Eielson, Ahluwalia enveloped the body in knotted, pleated and pulled fabrics - a nod to the 'emotional and physical pull of home'.

The designer is committed to sustainability, here reflected in the use of deadstock Chloe fabrics, which were re-engineered into sleek, tailored suits. Meanwhile, every look was gilded by yellow-gold, pearl-adorned jewellery from Pandora.

AARTIVIJAY GUPTA

A triumphant debut as part of London Fashion Week's official schedule, Aartivijay Gupta presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, 'Postcards from Kasmir.' Inspired by her Indian roots, which have served her work as the anchor of her inspiration, this season specifically looks at the northern Indian city of Kashmir, specifically its rural landscape and boasting greenery.

Printed two-piece sets, dresses, and coats were perfectly slung on models as the contemporary prints finely told a story of life in Kashmir, which is suitably known as 'heaven on Earth'. Intricate designs instantly transported guests, creating a juxtaposition of nostalgia while keeping in line with contemporary fashion.

As Lenin observed, “There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen.” Perhaps a strange, yet relevant, reference to say that in fashion too, once in a while a look blazes through the industry’s firmaments like an asteroid and changes the face of contemporary fashion in an instant. Think Katharine Hamnett's 1983 slogan tees, Alexander ‘Lee’ McQueen's 1993 bumster, Nasir Mazhar's 2014 streetwear frenzy, Roksanda’s film featuring three generations of women in the 2020 lockdown. All these fashion moments continue to reverberate through fashion today, from runway to high street, impacting what we’ve worn and what we love. When reflecting on London Fashion Week’s 40th anniversary this September 2024, there are so many inspiring creatives who have brought iconic and game changing looks to life, weaving together different testimonies and perspectives to create a picture of the people and processes that changed fashion, globally, forever.

There’s no better person to ask what London Fashion Week’s enduring qualities have been over the last 40 years, than the British Fashion Council’s CEO, Caroline Rush, herself driving its momentum for the last 15 years. “London Fashion Week is renowned for continually pushing the boundaries of creativity and supporting the best emerging talent. Since the inception of BFC NEWGEN in 1993, London has retained its reputation for platforming world-leading creatives and allowing them a space to express themselves without restriction. Our designers consistently push boundaries, challenge norms and inspire greater creativity.”

London Fashion Week has indeed spearheaded a lot of firsts: In 2009, it was the first global fashion week to embrace digital platforms, live-streaming shows to reach a broader audience worldwide. Burberry lead the way with its then-revolutionary digital fashion experiences experimenting with live-stream shopping for the ill-fated buy-now-see-now movement. In 2018, LFW became the first of the major fashion weeks to go completely fur-free, with many brands still only now following suit. London has arguably also had the most diverse casting on its runways for the longest time. Makeup-artist Georgina Graham notes, “I have seen many changes in trends at LFW in how beauty is expressed but I am happy to see more inclusive casting by designers and brands. There is of course a long way to go and we can always do and should strive for better but since I started [20 years ago], I feel there is more representation and it's a colourful line up with people of different skin tones, gender, more ages and more curve models. More recently I have seen not only able bodied models but also brands hiring disabled models. Everyone deserves to be included.

Inclusivity, more than being merely performative, has been at the heart of expression for most London Fashion Week designers over the last 40 years. Julie Gilbert, who knows a thing or two about representing a wide range of perspectives on the shop floor given her 18 year history as the Fashion Director at Barneys NY, says “ There is a daringness in expression that is seen in how the London designers express themselves. I always feel the "soul" of the many talents that come out of London. The designers dig into their deep heritage and add in the new energy of the moment…There is no better energy like seeing a talent in their infancy and feeling they have that "something" and wanting to help them grow and develop what they have.”

If you remember the image that catapulted Richard Quinn to international fame, it would be the one where the Queen attended her first ever fashion show, his debut collection. Another powerful moment in London Fashion Week’s 40th history, raw talent combined with the most recognisable woman on the planet. It is one of the UK’s superpowers that so many cultural moments come from our LFW catwalks. Think Naomi Campbell tripping in her platform Vivienne Westwood shoes or Christopher Kane’s neon and crystal sensual ruffles that kickstarted a global frenzy. Gilhart shares “ There were many times I could see "retail gold" in London. I think that Alexander McQueen and John Galliano's early London shows were genius. They knew how to create energy. Simone Rochas early on was a true winner. Erdem's show where he had real birds flying in the venue was game changing.”

For as much success over the last 40 years, if you look at today’s landscape, there are many designer names no longer showing, but were critical to the fashion eco-system and gave the world electrifying moments of transformation. Roland Mouret, Giles Deacon, Marios Schwab, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, Betty Jackson, Nicole Farhi, Luella Bartley, Todd Lynn, Thomas Tait, Sofia Kokosolaki, Mary Katrantzou, Meadham Kirchoff, Peter Pilotto, Emilio de la Morena, and so many more.

London - despite Brexit, despite Covid, despite years of austerity with an ever changing Conservative government uninterested in investing in the arts and creativity of Britain - well, London feels to many globally like a quick-pulsating heartbeat of innovation and experimentation, much of which feeds the fashion industry with new ideas and energy. “What’s kept me excited about supporting new talent is living in London!” Karen Binns, stylist and creative consultant exclaims. “London is the true anchor for raw talent in the fashion industry. It’s because the British youth have no fear of self expression. And when they are given the right tools...they sky rocket into the industry like a missile!”

“My first London Fashion Week in 1998 will always stand out,” Rush shares when asked for a favourite memory of LFW. “I was working for the iconic Annette Worsley-Taylor who helped establish London Fashion Week and the shows were electrifying. Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan were the most anticipated designers then, alongside Tristan Webber, Pearce Fionda, and Matthew Williamson. Hussein’s table dress still amazes me. Each Fashion Week still brings back the awe and wonder I felt watching my first show.”

Admittedly, it’s not always what’s on the catwalk but the moment after, that has kept the buzzy excitement of attending London Fashion Week. As Binns puts it, “the fashion afterparties! Everyone shows up .. and shows out!”

"Curating this show for eBay has been a full-circle moment," says Bannerman, who has been an avid eBayer herself for 23 years. "It allows me me to channel eBay's spirit of treasure-hunting with 40 years of London’s fashion history."

I asked Bannerman to share her personal favourites, and she highlighted a pair of vintage striped pyjama trousers and a rare McQueen T-shirt that says 'God Save the Queen.' "I'm going to find it hard to part with some of the pieces," she laughed.

London Fashion Week dazzled us with the Autumn/Winter '24 collections of emerging talent as well as the usual heavyweights. Here's everything you need to know.

Roksanda

Roksanda blurred the lines between art and fashion yet again with a collection that was inspired by a trip to Le Courbusier's wooden cabin in the South of France. His 'free-spirited' murals inspired tapestry-style pieces which included a dramatic cape and gown adorned with abstract patterns. Ropes were a recurring theme, draping ballgowns and cinching waists on coats and blazers. The designer's signature architectural silhouettes and bold colours were present throughout, putting coral and lime firmly on the top of our shopping list for Autumn/Winter '24. Note the Roskanda x FitFlop collaboration, which sees models walk down the runway in colourful leather clogs and flip flops. 

Simone Rocha

The first thing you need to know is that yes, there were bows – puffy, outsized, taffeta ones upon the shoulders of coats, on the collar and cuffs of a cape, and in audacious ribbon clusters suspended from lobes. Rocha has been credited with starting the trend and didn't buck it for Autumn/Winter '24; in an era where some are questioning whether we have reached 'peak bow saturation', this felt deliciously rebellious.

The collection was titled 'The Wake' (a postlude to 'The Procession', Rocha's couture show for Jean Paul Gaultier) and riffed on the mourning dress of Queen Victoria. There were crystal-encrusted, faux-fur coats (and equally fuzzy Mary Janes), corseted jackets that nipped in the waist and kicked out at the hips, and capes in the designer's beloved tulle, as well as the aforementioned taffeta in deep navy and pistachio green and Queen V's signature black.

Rocha's girl is growing up – and she's taking her bows with her.

Burberry

‘The collection itself is inspired by British and Irish wool and fabric, centred around protection and warmth. Burberry trenches are designed with texture in mind. Coats are at the core, shoes and bags are functional. These pieces are made for the outdoors,’ said Daniel Lee in the show notes. And so, there were shearling-lined coats, revisited puffer jackes and duster coats, checkered wool skirts and oversised scarves and plenty of layering. 

Molly Goddard

Molly Goddard proves yet again that the winter season can be far from boring. Looking at archival pieces for the collection, a visual identity emerged: volume and layering like you wouldn't believe. As the show notes explained, it was 'shapes on top of shapes; garments combining - pulling in, pushing out, smushing'. 

There were tulle skirts (so synonymous with Molly), layered under slouchy jumpers pulled in at the neckline with a drawstring, drop waist dresses with bubble skirts, baggy tops over baggy skirts. Molly was inspired by 1960s Balenciaga and Dior gowns, but re-imagined them with freedom of movement for the modern wearer. Another trend of note: the romantic cowgirl, with her softened cowboy boots, slouchy trousers and western shirt with bubble hem. 

Huishan Zhang

A dramatic collection for dramatic leading ladies. For Autumn/Winter '24, Huishan Zhang decides to explore and celebrate the conflicting personalities and sartorial personas of Ingrid Bergman and Anna Magnani, romantic rivals in a legendary cinematic feud - and perhaps imagine what they would wear today. There were Old Hollywood-esque sequin dresses and satin suits, as well as more modern pieces such as leather trench coats and pencil skirts with bejewelled mesh overlay. Highly wearable and covetable. 

Chet Lo

Chet Lo is known for his knitted, durian fruit-inspired spikes. This season, he played with their proportions and placement, adding spine-like detailing to a hoodies, trousers and fishtail skirts. In previous seasons, the London-based, Asian-American designer has accessorised his ready-to-wear with bags and shoes from Singaporean accessory brand, Charles & Keith; last month, they collaborated on a capsule of spiky slingbacks and shoulder bags, which made its catwalk debut here.

Knitwear innovation has become the London-based, Asian-American designer's calling card, and this latest collection is no exception; as well as the prerequisite prickles, there were jumpers made from liquid-metal yarns and a hand-knitted paillette dress that jingled as it shimmered down the runway.

Mark Fast

Things got a little sci-fi at Mark Fast – in the best way possible. The knitwear master was inspired by future-focused '60s architect Joe Colombo to create a collection with 'extra-terrestrial edge.'

There was everything you'd need to navigate a futuristic metropolis by day and night; Barbarella boots were styled with cosy jumpers and knitted dresses with cobweb-like detailing. Crafted from weather-resistant materials, oversized coats were both luxe and practical. And there were some standout party dresses, too – namely a turquoise velvet gown that felt like just the sort of thing you'd want to wear to a space-age soiree.

Noon by Noor

If you want to dress like a fashion editor, Noon by Noor has crafted the perfect capsule wardrobe. Isabella Blow, Diana Vreeland and Lucinda Chambers were the muses for this latest collection, and the result was understated and practical yet utterly compelling. The label's '60s-tinged trench coats (and matching bucket hats) are perfect for London's unpredictable weather; we loved their cropped sleeves and A-line silhouettes.

Supriya Lele

Supriya Lele is making a name for herself when it comes to sensual, body-celebrating silhouettes. The designer's latest offering included bandeau tops and waist-skimming skirts, glimmering tops with a wet-inspired finish and gossamer-fine knitted leggings. 

16Arlington

16Arlington drew inspiration from 'the house of horrors', reimagining popular characters from Frankenstein and Beetlejuice and exploring the link between human and monster.

The collection showcased an eerie array of models dressed in black gowns, long feathered coats, and contrasting silver tinsel dresses and skirts. Delicate organza tops and knitted dresses juxtaposed untamed fabrics and drop waistlines. 

Harris Reed

For Autumn/Winter '24, Harris Reed explored all things Victoriana. With nineteenth-century shadow puppets and illustrations in mind, Reed created an exquisite line-up of dramatic silhouettes and fabrics. The structural elements of the collection included impressive volume, draping, velvet, and hand-beading. Taking place at the Tate Britain, the runway show was nothing short of moving art. 

Tolu Coker

Some shows put you in an especially good mood, and this was certainly the case with Tolu Coker – and not least because of the live music that soundtracked the show. The British-Nigerian designer paid homage to the uniform of street vendors in Accra, Ghana. Think nipped-waist, '70s-inspired suits in bordeaux leather, chocolate linen, as well crisp shirt dresses – both calf-length and thigh-skimming, layered atop matching trousers and a fresh white shirt, respectively.

Natasha Zinko

Natasha Zinko's latest collection was all about looking upwards and forward, envisioning looks for a future era. There were deconstructed astronaut suits, curved spacesuit sleeves, and giant coats that spoke to the mob-wife aesthetic, all accessorised with 3D printed glasses. Barbarella is back, with a few distinctly modern tweaks.

As Zinko mentions in the show notes, "We may not be space-people yet, not yet, but we’re trying, trying hard, and, for the time being, we can certainly pretend."

Erdem

Designer Erdem Moralıoğlu looked to American-Greek soprano Maria Callas when designing his Autumn/Winter '24 collection, and as you can imagine, this translated into plenty of dramatic outfits. Standout looks included a rose-print coat with exaggerated collar, turquoise satin pyjamas and a floral bustier and matching skirt with red lines painted onto it.  

David Koma

David Koma always amps up the drama and this season the designer opted to re-imagine the on and off duty looks of the late German neoexpressionist dance pioneer Pina Bausch and the contemporary Spanish action artist Candela Capitan. Materials you'd excpect to find on stage costumes, such as feathers and tulle, take on a modern and pracitcal quality: a feather shrug here, a tulle wraparound there. 

Richard Quinn

You'd be forgiven for thinking it was an haute couture fashion week show you were seeing at Richard Quinn, so beautifully crafted and OTT the dresses were, including some spectactular wedding dressescomplete with full skirts, bows, sequins and veils. 

JW Anderson

It was all about the ordinary made extraordinary at JW Anderson. Elevated housewife shoes, knitted dresses made of giant crochet patterns, a coat taking on grotesque proportions. 

Eudon Choi

The collection's muted palette of sage, soil, aubergine and soft pink paid reference to a patinaed fresco on one of the walls of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii – a poignant comment on finding beauty in a crumbling world, perhaps.

Choi is a dab hand at excellent executed, subtly off-kilter tailoring, exemplified by a jacket with asymmetric buttons or a pair of slouchy suit trousers with trailing belts. For evening, there are bias-cut, velvet maxi dresses and ribboned slip dresses and skirts. Sensual restraint comes to mind.

Holzweiler

Annie's Ibiza

This season, Annie's Collection III draws inspiration from the careful balance of our ecosystem and the timeless elegance of historical craftsmanship. Flora was gracefully weaved into structured bodices with garments that resembled the Modern Era; one, made entirely of flowers, was completed on the day of the show. 

The collection included handcrafted designs made from ethically sourced, recycled, vegan, and deadstock materials with an impressive array of diverse models that beautifully presented Annie Doble's creations. 

Yuhan Wang

Every season Yuhan Wang draws inspiration from powerful women and this season she looked to legal figures who have played pivotal roles in shaping history, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Dame Rose Heilbron, Sandra Day O’Connor and Brenda Hale. The result? A collection that would bring a unanimous verdict in any courtroon: whimsical cloaks, robes with power shoulders, shirts with oversized collars... 

Marques 'Almeida

London sure is happy to have Marques 'Almeida back on the fashion week schedule – that was clear by the front rowers' beaming grins alone. Portuguese founders Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida took the London-born brand to Porto during Covid but made a triumphant return this week. Modelled by friends and family of all generations (a tradition started in 2016), the collection felt inclusive, celebratory.

M'A played with volume in new ways, via drop-waist, peplum-hem dresses in lustrous brocades and heavy satin; one strapless, peach gown seems destined for the red carpet. Of course, there was denim – tied-dyed and indigo-rinse alike. A team favourite was the turn-up jeans, styled with a matching peplum top and a pair of feathery, frou-frou kitten heels.

 Frolov

This season, Ivan Frolov decided to throw it back to the noughties with statement corsets, deep hues of red, and a leopard print dress or two. The Ukranian designer took inspiration form his childhood memories visiting Crimea- where he spent every summer until it was annexed in 2014. 

Every element of the collection was intentional, from the burgundy shades borrowed from the colour of the leather sofas on the Kyiv-Sevastopol trains, to the gradient on the Frolov statement corsets which reflect the designer's admiration for the Crimean sunsets and unevenness of the tan on naked bodies. 

Helen Kirkum

The Helen Kirkum presentation was a masterclass in the cyclical processes of un building and rebuilding. Set among a strew of pre-loved items, the backdrop was a mirror of the collection itself, which was assembled almost entirely from pre-existing materials and sourced objects.

The models moving fluidly through the show provided further proof that even the environments in which we exist can be beautifully renewed and refreshed by a change in the subject.

For Autumn Winter 2024, Sinead Gorey collaborated with Ed Hardy for a noughties-era throwback. A seamless blend of both brands signatures, the collection is a love letter to the British teenage experience.

Last weekend marked London Fashion Week, where all the UK’s most talented designers showcased their SS24 collections, giving editors, industry professionals and influencers a sneak peak into the top trends and stand out pieces we’ll be lusting after in the upcoming season. 

Taking note, of course, were the Marie Claire fashion team: Editor-in-chief, Andrea Thompson, Editor, Sunil Makan, and Fashion Editor, Penny Goldstone, who headed to the shows to see what the designers had to offer. But, while their eyes may have been on the catwalks, we were equally as obsessed with what they were wearing. 

After all, in recent years, fashion month has become not only about the catwalks, but also the well-dressed guests who take to the city in their best street style looks. For the Marie Claire team that meant elegant tailoring, sports luxe inspired additions and chic neutral tones, although they didn’t shy away from statement pops of dopamine inducing brights and delicate printed styles too.

London Fashion Week is always at the forefront of experimental and diverse fashion and this season is no exception.

The SS24 collections from both emerging and seasoned designers started off with a bang, with mood-boosting, zesty trends as well as wearable designs you'll want to wear straight off the catwalk and for seasons to come. 

Here are the London Fashion Week SS24 moments we can't stop thinking about.

Erdem

For SS24, Erdem examined a story of heritage, by paying homage to the late dowager Duchess of Devonshire, and her relationship with Chatsworth House. Erdem was granted access to the archive of Debo, and the result is a collection not just inspired by her wardrobe, but an embodiment of her spirit and vision. Antique textiles from Chatsworth have been weaved into dresses and coat linings, and a deconstructed gown features remnants of Chatsworth House curtains, hand embroidered by Cecily Lasnet, Debo’s great granddaughter. 

TOVE

No one understands what women want to wear quite like Camille Perry and Holly Wright, the brains behind TOVE. You could almost hear every spectator at the show mentally adding every item of their spring/summer 24 collection to their shopping list. Fluid silk dresses in classic neutral shades with a pop of colour here and there, tailored suits just the right side of oversized and a fresh take on wardrobe staples like the white shirt and the trench. There's not a single item we couldn't see ourselves wearing. And rather excitingly, TOVE introduced their debut luxury leather Footwear Collection. Hand crafted in Portugal and Italy, this capsule collection comprised of a babouche slipper in tumbled leather, a timeless flat, almond toe pump and an elegant flat sandal. Sold.

Richard Quinn

Out of great loss comes a sense of reflection and calm, and Richard Quinn's latest collection was a beautiful homage to his father, Patrick James Quinn. Serenaded by the English Chamber Orchestra, models including Jourdan Dunn wore beautifully intricate designs, embellished with embroideries and crystals that caught the light. Each design was there to bring a sense of celebration and reflection, for the designer's greatest champion. 

JW Anderson

JW Anderson's SS24 was all about having fun. Playing with proportions and texture, with the casual and the elevated, with the masculine and the feminine. There were oversized bombers which had feathers exploding at the seams, a hoodie moulded to the model's body, dresses with exaggerated hips, padded trousers in vibrant orange - a colour we're already lauding as SS24's star hue.

Molly Goddard

Molly Goddard quite literally turned things inside out for her spring/summer 24 collection. She put the spotlight on the unsung heroes that pull garments together -  grosgrain, zig zag stitching, exposed zips - by deliberately leaving them on show and making them the focus of each look. There were frills peaking out from seams of tailoring, pin tucks cut on the bias creating new silhouettes and draping, in rich pastel shades interspersed with vivid green.

Emilia Wickstead

This year marks AllSaints' 30th anniversary and to celebrate, it took over the last remaining tram station in the UK, The Kingsway Tram Tunnels, in a fashion first.

As for inspiration, it looked to the beginning. Imagine it's 1994, the year that the summer festival exploded into popular culture. Woodstock, Glastonbury, Burning Man... they all served as inspiration for the collection, which featured delved into the archives of AS with crochet, embellishment, maxi and micro hem lines and studded leather throughout.

Presented in the stunning setting of St Paul's Church in Covent Garden, Eudon Choi's SS24 collection, 'Chasing Butterflies', was inspired by impressionist painter Berthe Morisot. This was reflected in the fluidity and softness of the garments' movement, perhaps evoking the artist's brushstroke. Muted tones of pink, blue and grey were lifted by the occasional saturated hue (this is Eudon after all), while deconstructed tailoring was mixed in with whimsical dresses that enhanced the models' movements.

For SS24, Huishan Zhang looked to the powerful movements of dancers to create elegant and fluid silhouettes that slip effortlessly from day to night. Think silk dresses and separates inspired by classical ballet, colourful sequinned gowns that glitter with movement, as well as more wearable Italian satin jersey pieces embodying the off-stage dancer.

Bora Aksu

Bora Aksu's designs never fail to bring us joy, and his SS24 was no exception. It was inspired by his Turkish heritage, evident in details such as rich embroidery, bold colours and the Fez hats the models were wearing. Plenty of frills and bows adorned the collection which was a 'harmonious fusion of tradition, contemporary and refined femininity'.

Mulberry x Stefan Cooke

Introducing Mulberry x Stefan Cooke, the first to champion pre-loved styles from the British brand’s circularity programme, The Mulberry Exchange. For this limited-edition capsule, Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt have re-imagined 27 pre-loved bags, including the iconic Bayswater, the Roxanne and the Lily. The collection is available to purchase online and in Mulberry’s Regent Street flagship, and in the Mulberry Pre-Loved Pop-Up.

London Fashion week AW23 was back with a bang. This season, the energy and creativity of the city was front and centre. From beautifully joyful clothing, to exciting young emerging talent and heavyweight household names, this season proved that London is clearly leading the way when it comes to diversity both on and off the runway. 

From Daniel Lee’s reimagining of the iconic Burberry, Jorja Smith walking at Feben to Mowalola party-city looks and Chet Lo’s gothic collection, the Autumn/Winter 2023 collections were a feast for the senses: full of fantastical fashion—here’s looking at you Dilara Findikoglu—and wardrobe heroes that are timeless in their execution. 

Here are the LFW AW23 highlights that we can’t stop thinking about.

1. Richard Quinn 

A secret garden was the setting for Richard Quinn's latest collection debut. The designer's show space included walls draped in blooming flowers, chandeliers hanging from above and tiled flooring with a checkerboard pattern. Of course, the dramatic interiors were matched with an equally dramatic collection, filled with the brand's signature floral prints and latex touches. To finish, Quinn sent 17 white looks down the runway as his own imagining of the Richard Quinn bride. Some models were even holding bouquets. - Andrea Thompson, Editor-In-Chief

2. Molly Goddard 

Molly Goddard hosted an intimate show inside her London studio this season. Models emerged from the brand's atelier, the space where Goddard's collections are made and walked through the designer's showroom. Goddard explained that this season, the collection was not about drama but instead wearability, celebrating the joy of getting dressed. The designer looked to her own archives for the Autumn/Winter 2023 range, referencing and rethinking pieces from the past to create something new.  - Andrea Thompson, Editor-In-Chief

3. Burberry

Arguably the most anticipated show of the season: everyone was eager to see what the future of Burberry looks like. The starriest FROW to date, with everyone from Skepta to Liberty Ross and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Daniel Lee’s Burberry did not disappoint. We’re into the unexpected colour combinations, the exaggerated silhouettes and playful variations on the iconic Burberry check. - Sunil Makan, Editor

4. Tove

Fashion Week is known for its experimental fashion and unique, avant-garde designs, so it is rare to attend a runway show where every single piece feels wearable. But that's exactly what Tove's LFW debut was. 

Made for the minimalist with an elevated sense of style, Tove's collection was my aspirational wardrobe personified. Sleek maxi dresses in buttery yellow shades, perfectly tailored blazers with unique buttoned details and statement earrings that added interest to even the most paired back looks. It was heaven. 

Not to mention, the models were all wearing flats. (What a novel concept!) Tove is fashion designed for women, by women, and you can certainly tell they know exactly what we want. - Zoe Anastasiou, Acting Fashion Editor

5. Dilara Fındıkoğlu

You can always rely on Dilara Fındıkoğlu to bring the drama at London Fashion Week. The Turkish-born designer staged her latest show inside a disused church in Bow, making the perfect setting for the hauntingly beautiful designs that subsequently made their way around the room. Models employed their acting skills, walking through the space with dramatic flair and stopping to pose alongside pillars. 

The clothes acted as an extension of Dilara's usual aesthetic, including boned corsets, waist-cinching belts and other lingerie-inspired looks. The designer also experimented with leather, lace, and feathers, and even offered a few looks which utilised hair clips and butter knives. - Zoe Anastasiou, Acting Fashion Editor

6. Eudon Choi

One of the key things we look for here at MC is wearability: how a collection fits in with your wardrobe and how long you'll keep wearing the pieces. Eudon Choi's AW23 collection nailed this and was full of pieces that would fit seamlessly into your capsule—wardrobe heroes if you will. The Marie Claire fashion team was out in full force over the weekend attending London Fashion Week's Autumn/Winter 2023 runway shows. Editor-in-Chief, Andrea Thompson, Editor, Sunil Makan and Fashion Editor, Zoe Anastasiou ventured all over the city with the help of DS Automobiles to witness the collection debuts of some of the UK's most talented designers.

While we are heavily focused on the clothes on the runway, there is no denying that in recent years fashion week street style has become a spectacle (and veritable industry) in and of itself. Editors, influencers and more now dress for the occasion, sporting their best looks to take their seats on the front row.

London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2023 is officially over, and team Marie Claire has been busy covering all of the fashion and beauty looks over on our Instagram account. And besides covering all of the fabulous fashion looks and trends, we've also spent the past few days running between different backstage areas and refreshing our image banks in a bid to dissect the biggest make-up trends of the upcoming season.

As a beauty writer and a self-confessed beauty obsessive, as much as the clothes were a delight, I’m always the person staring up at the models' faces as they take to the catwalk—and I want to know everything about the beauty looks.

And if there's one thing I can say for certain, it's that heavy make-up is back for Autumn/Winter 2023. While we've already been seeing fuller make-up looks trending on TikTok, if London Fashion Week has confirmed anything, it's that heavy eyes, teamed with glowing skin is set to be the beauty trend of 2023.

More specifically, the trend we saw in every backstage beauty room was dark everything. From dark lips to heavily kohled eyes, we're dubbing this make-up look 'goth glow'.

A trend for gothic make-up started bubbling away last year when Wednesday Addams' gothic make-up went viral for all of the right reasons. This season at London Fashion Week, it was clear that the Wednesday effect was in full force.

In fact, goth glow was seen pretty much everywhere at London Fashion Week, and it couldn't be ignored. Unlike gothic make-up looks of yesteryear, this season it's all about making the trend as wearable as possible by teaming bold, dark and heavy eyes with beautifully radiant and glowing skin.

Paul Costelloe

"Grungy makeup is back across the board”, says Paul Costelloe's lead make-up artist, Michelle Webb. From New York Fashion Week to London shows, the goth glow look saw make-up artists adorning their models with a Wednesday-esque gothic and grungy, bold eye and glowing, glass skin.

Webb created the perfect glow by mixing Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick with OLEHENRIKSEN Hydrabarrier Nourishing Face Oil. 

Erdem

For autumn/winter 2023, Erdem Moralıoğlu teamed up with Nars make-up artist, Jane Richardson, to create the ultimate melancholic make-up look to accompany his collection. After discovering his London townhouse was once inhabited by 'friendless' women seeking refuge in the 1800s, Moralıoğlu reimagines the historic story of one particular night that saw two of the women locked out beyond curfew, causing them to wreak havoc in Bloomsbury square. The heavily kohled eyes were softly diffused at the edges and teamed with lit-from-within skin to create an impressively wearable look.

Harris Reed

Proving that gothic looks don't have to be all black liner and deep purples, Charlotte Tilbury make-up artist, Sofia Tilbury, created this look for Harris Reed. With supercharged highlight and popping red lip, it remains gothic without feeding into any of the more obvious tropes.

Fashion East

Goth glow was in full force at Fashion East. Here, glowy skin is paired with a dark lip or a very heavy dark eyeliner. By the time it gets to winter, I'm pretty sure I'll be combining the two looks together. 

Nensi Dojaka

The epitome of goth glow, a softer, more wearable look on the eye and an unmatched glow was showcased at Nensi Dojaka. It looks like we will all be ditching the powder when it comes to autumn.

Roksanda

This served some serious lip inspo. The deep-red, ombré lip is throwing things back to the '90s. 

Bora Aksu

Bora Aksu's AW23 show was inspired by Wednesday Addams, and it shows not only in his designs but also in the black lipstick choice.

Mark Fast

I tried the KVD black lipstick back when Wednesday first came onto Netflix, and it was surprisingly not as bold as I thought. Another show full of black lipstick was Mark Fast, and I'm kind of excited to try it again this winter. 

Feben

At Feben, all the models wore heavily waterlined eyeliner, creating a winged look that went down from the inner eye too. This is bold, and I love it. 

Chet Lo

I'm kind of obsessed with these false lower lashes. The lip has a just-bitten, purple stand, keeping in with the goth trend.

London Fashion Week is always a time to celebrate the brilliant creativity of the British fashion industry. Our homegrown talents take the spotlight as buyers, editors and influencers flock from all over the world to see the designs from Britain's best and brightest. 

London Fashion Week is known for its unique brand of creativity—which often champions distinctive, avant-garde looks—but that does not mean that you can't find a few trends that permeate even the most individual designers. 

Team Marie Claire was out in full force this weekend, riding around the city in a DS 9 hybrid car to attend the shows and be able to bring you a first look at the top trends. Between Dilara Fındıkoğlu's dramatic display set inside an old church and David Koma's runway on the top floor of a London skyscraper, the last few days were certainly packed with memorable moments. Take a Bow

For this Spring/Summer 2023 season we saw heart shapes take centre stage, yet in Autumn/Winter it seems this motif is set to be replaced by a bouquet of bows. From Simone Rocha to Yuhan Wang, Susan Fang and more, bows were the feminine touch of choice for many designers this season. Simone Rocha lent into this theme quite heavily, sending models down the runway with bows in their hair and across their faces.

Seeing Red

Every attendee was seeing red this fashion week, but rest assured it had nothing to do with our tempers. David Koma lined a room in red carpet for his show, while Nensi Dojaka cast her show space in a striking red light. The colour was prominent on the runway too, with brands including Bora Aksu, Eudon Choi and more showcasing head-to-toe red looks.

Joined At The Hip

At New York Fashion Week we witnessed the return of the peplum top, but London seems to have taken the hip focus one step further. Designers added volume at the waist to create unique silhouettes this show season. At 16Arlington and JW Anderson, this came in the form of feathers, while Christopher Kane added bustles at the hip which were said to have been inspired by intestines.

Fall in A-Line

After seasons of sleek silhouettes, it seems A-line shapes are back for 2023. Full skirts were present on the runway this fashion week, reminiscent of the looks prominent in the 1950s. Pleated looks were seen at Eudon Choi and Emilia Wickstead, while Molly Goddard, Simone Rocha and Erdem opted for embellished A-line iterations.

Animal Instinct

Pigs, ducks, chickens (and even rats), the London Fashion Week runways were filled with animal inspiration this year. Christopher Kane displayed AI-generated prints featuring farm yard animals, while Daniel Lee offered duck-printed shirts and skirts. At JW Anderson, heeled shoes were made to look like cat paws. This acted as an extension of the designer's last menswear collection, in which he designed shoes and bags which resembled frogs.

London Fashion Week S/S 23 ended on a sombre note on Tuesday evening, as Richard Quinn held the final fashion show in memory of Her Majesty, The Queen. With parties and dinners cancelled out of respect, the week felt uncharacteristically quiet. Yet, in some ways, this allowed a renewed focus to be placed solely on the clothes, rather than the events happening around them.

London Fashion Week has always been known for its creativity, innovation and the championing of young, up-and-coming designers. Given each designer has such a unique point of view, often it can be difficult to find a through-line that connects a runway with the next. However, this season we did see some prominent trends emerge.

 Cut-outs have continued to be the detail of choice among many brands and this season we saw the design elements used specifically to highlight the hips. Several designers also opted for diagonal cut-outs often joined together by a series of buttons. Elsewhere lace was a hero applique, with insets placed on dresses and skirts, while those romantically inclined will have noticed a heart motif making an appearance across several collections.

The must-know trends from London Fashion Week S/S 23: 

1. On the Diagonal

Skin-baring silhouettes have been all over the runways in the last few years, with cut-outs becoming a universal trend. This season, designers have honed in on a specific kind of shape, depicting diagonal and asymmetric cut-outs on the catwalk. From Poster Girl to Rejina Pyo, Eftychia to Chet Lo, cut-outs have certainly taken on a new angle for S/S23.

Many designers have also opted to connect each cut-out through the use of buttons or clasp closures. We see that trend below from Rejina Pyo and Eftychia and also spotted on a pair of trousers with connected cut-outs at Christopher Kane.

2. Hip Focus

While cut-out dresses and tops have been around for a while, this London Fashion Week we witnessed the trend trickle down (quite literally). Biker shorts, wide-leg jeans and all-manner of skirts, featured side-splits and cut-outs at the hips. Nensi Dojaka added heart-shaped trinkets to her cut-outs, while Masha Popova highlighted the hips through cut-out waistbands on jeans and denim skirts.

3. All about that lace

Lace is a trend we see time and time again, but this season designers are taking inspiration from an unusual source: nightgowns. Reminiscent of what some might wear to bed, these are certainly not your grandmother's nightgowns.

Lace insets have been applied to dresses and skirts, adding interest to otherwise minimalist silky fabrics. JW Anderson and Rixo paired their lace alongside yellow dresses, while Christopher Kane opted to add the detail to a blue mini.

4. Off by heart

From Nensi Dojaka to Molly Goddard, designers are encouraging consumers to wear their hearts on their sleeves this Spring/Summer. Or, more accurately, on their hips, chests, feet and more. Heart motifs were spotted at several different shows throughout fashion week.

Nensi Dojaka added heart-shaped appliques to bra tops, maxi dresses and biker shorts, while Molly Goodard's model donned heart-emblazoned cowboy boots. Paul and Joe also played into the romanticism in the air, sending several models down the runway wearing heart-printed dresses, trousers and shirts.

So many ways to wear white.

Another London Fashion Week has been and gone, and as per usual, the event has taken the city by storm. While the news of the Queen did put a halt on some shows and celebrations, many designers decided to respectfully move forward with their scheduled plans, holding events for local and international press, buyers and industry insiders.

 Amongst the covetable clothes and over-the-top accessories on offer, were several white dresses which would look just as good walking down the aisle, as they did walking down the catwalk. While London Fashion Week may not be the traditional place to find a wedding dress, this week we've seen several options that could work for the alternative, modern bride.

From Molly Goddard's voluminous tulle-covered confections to Rejina Pyo's one-shoulder silk number and Emilia Wickstead's understated elegance, there were white dresses aplenty on the runway. All you'd have to do is add a bouquet.

Gowns featuring intricate detailing such as flower appliques and lace trims were prevalent. While bubble skirts—which were seen all over New York Fashion Week—have continued their reign across the pond, appearing as a detail on several white dresses, including Yuan Wang.

In a post-lockdown world, many are opting for smaller, more intimate weddings and often a pared-down dress can be the perfect match. As Marie Claire Editor, Sunil Makan explains, "Instead of heading to your nearest bridal boutique, take inspiration from designers like Eudon Choi, whose simple yet elevated white dresses could be worn time and time again, beyond just your wedding day."

Between the flocks of photographers, hoards of well-dressed individuals and increased number of minivans around central it would be hard to miss the fact that London Fashion Week has made its return this September. While the news of the Queen has altered a few plans, many designers have respectfully continued on with their scheduled shows, paying homage to her Majesty in their own individual ways.

From British fashion favourites like Molly Goddard and Rixo, to designers-on-the-rise like Masha Popova and Nensi Dojaka, the city has been a buzz with creativity as brands debut their Spring/Summer 2023 collections. Of course, we're here to fill you in on all the happenings, so keep scrolling for the highlights from London Fashion Week S/S23.

1. Molly Goddard

It was all neon, stripes, ruffles and tuille at Molly Goddard - and, we will take it all, please. Goddard's vision for SS23 is full of get-up-and-go. As models walked in zag zag patterns around the Seymour Leisure Centre in Marylebone, London, a rousing soundtrack of Kele Le Roc's 'Things we do for love' fused the energy of Garage with the classicism of violins - the mood was palpable. It's all about having fun with getting dressed. Wearability was key, with some models ducking behind the curtain swapping items previously worn with other separates - these are pieces that can fit seamlessly into your wardrobe and can be worn time and time again. All of this culminated in a showstopping voluminous white gown - a contender for the best alternative wedding dress IMHO. - SM

2. Christopher Kane

A compendium of wardrobe icons, for his return to London Fashion Week, Kane revisited the classics. From the anatomy drawings, use of gels, florals, cut-out tops and those Kane pinks, it was all there - and we’re all here for it. This was all about a forensic exploration of the body, with references to the anatomy, medical illustrations and cut-outs a plenty. Wardrobe classics were reworked, a simple grey cardigan held together with a clear vinyl structure that mimicked a skeleton, could easily slot into your wardrobe. - SM

3. Rejina Pyo

Set amongst the clouds on the 28th floor of a building with London skyline views, Rejina Pyo debuted her Spring/Summer 2023 collection on Sunday. A voiceover discussing women in the workplace played in the background, as models strode through in tailored separates, including structured trench coats and buttoned blazers. Sheer pieces (like tops, skirts and billowing dresses) were also a focus of the collection, which Pyo noted can be worn with or without linings.

Exploring what it means to love and work, this collection was a celebration of women, and as usual, Pyo is offering a range women cannot wait to wear. - ZA

4. Nensi Dojaka 

There are few designers who do chic sex appeal, quite like Nensi Dojaka. The designer has become known for her intricate cut-out dresses, sheer layering and body-con aesthetic. This season, the designer stepped it up a notch, adding denim to her repertoire amongst a collection of quintessential Nensi lace-trimmed mini dresses, stretch fabric midis and biker shorts. The range felt romantic in nature. We saw varying shades of pink dotted throughout, alongside a sweet heart-shaped appliqué motif. Has Nensi's signature party girl fallen in love?

The pièce de résistance came when globally-adored supermodel, Emily Ratajkowski, emerged from backstage to close the show dressed in a floor-length pink gown complete with a trailing sheer train. Audible gasps were heard amongst the crowd. It was, as they say, quite the moment. - ZA

5. Dilara Fındıkoğlu

It’s been a particularly quiet season - everything has been still. Apart from the collective minutes of silence held (approximately 20) the music and soundtrack to shows have been paired back. Case in point, at the Dilara Fındıkoğlu SS23 show, rousing classical music played whilst guests were seated but as soon as the first model crept up the stairwell of a derelict W2 building the music stopped. Casting an ominous mood, footsteps, heels on panelled wooden floors, fabrics being pulled and twisted whilst snagging on the floor, the rustle of denim, jingling bells attached to shoes sending sounds ricocheting across the room were the only things audible. The craftsmanship here is seriously impressive: these are clothes that speak volumes. Full of sex, glamour and a gothic edge, from the re-worked denim dress (a big trend for SS23), corsetry, soft lace and tailoring, this was Fındıkoğlu’s most wearable collection yet. - SM

6. Eudon Choi

Mixing sleek tailoring alongside fluid, floaty dresses, Eudon Choi's collection could be at home in any chic woman's wardrobe. The collection felt elevated, yet wearable with a palette of summery shades including bright orange, sky blue, mustard yellow. - ZA

7. 16Arlington

For this collection, designer Marco Capaldo looked to the Forget Me Not flower, a faded blue floral which is seen as a symbol of love, devotion, and remembrance. This is a fitting tribute to Marco's partner and co-founder, the late Federica ‘Kikka’ Cavenati, who passed away last year. The collection featured a palette of pastel blue, black and buttery cream, interspersed with snakeskin, checks and leather pieces. Waistlines were low, with a mixture of micro mini skirts and ankles-skimming maxis throughout.

Of course, the collection felt party-ready, which the 16Arlington customer has come to expect from the brand, but Capaldo rounded out the offering with a renewed focus on tailoring. Boxy blazers were worn over midi skirts, and floor-length coats with wide, padded shoulders in shades of dusty pink and blue were seen alongside shimmering, crystal-covered dresses and pleated mini skirts. - ZA

8. Rixo

You can always rely on Rixo to bring the good vibes to London Fashion Week. The brand's founders Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey definitely know how to host a feel-good presentation. The collection was complete with Rixo's signature vibrant colours and playful prints, all worn by dancing models with smiles on their faces. In a week that's felt heavy, this was a light reprieve.

Inspired by a trip to Goa, prints within the collection featured intricate patterns borrowed from ceramics and tiles discovered in the region. The designers also worked to create new silhouettes, introducing structured dresses worn alongside jackets, as well as a number of co-ords. - ZA

9. Poster Girl

Y2K but make it fashion, that was the order of the day at Poster Girl. While the brand is known for its signature fishnet shapewear, the S/S23 collection included a far more varied offering. From low-slung trousers adorned with statement belts to oversize tailored blazers and mini skirts, Poster Girl is certainly evolving its range to include much more than just stretch fabric and dresses. - ZA

10. Richard Quinn

For the last few years Richard Quinn has been the designer to close London Fashion Week, and this season his show felt like a particularly poignant finale. In a show dedicated to Her Majesty, Quinn sent models down the runway dressed in head-to-toe black, set against the slow melody of 'Song To The Siren' while videos from the Queen's youth played in the background. It was an emotional end to a sombre fashion week, in which several designers paid homage to the UK's longest-reigning monarch.

Following the 22-look procession, Quinn's full collection was debuted featuring the bold colour and the signature floral prints the designer has become known for. Standout silhouettes are always a key element of the Central Saint Martins graduate's collections, and this season Quinn played into that even further with voluminously proportioned bodysuits and bell-shaped coats and capes. It was quintessential Quinn, in all its eccentric glory.

You’ve nailed your blue-toned and cherry-popping reds, now it’s time to try brick-red lips

I always turn to a red lipstick makeup look when I need a bit of a complexion pick me up. It always spruces up my skin and elevates my minimal go-to products. 

When I witnessed the number of red lips backstage at London Fashion Week, I knew those with a penchant for coloured lacquer were on to a winner. 

But, something was different about the shade being slathered onto runway-ready lips this season. Instead of the perfectly lined, pristinely filled, Jessica Rabbit-esque applications of the past, makeup artists were pressing the product on with their fingers. 

Some might think it avant-garde but the models’ red lip makeup looks exuded a tom-boyish, just-woke-up-like-this energy that more of us are after these days. Reference: skinamalism and the best BB cream if you haven't already. 

One MUA who nailed the home-made red lipstick makeup look was Thom Walker, who made up the models for Molly Goddard. “We were inspired by 1980s West London streetwear images,” he shares, saying: “Some of the models are wearing a brick-red shade on their lips that's been pressed in. It’s all about the blurred lines and diffused elements, it’s very ordinary girl.”

There’s no way you could apply a highly pigmented red (of which we have loads in our best red lipstick round-up, here) with your fingers. This would be messy and, in all honesty, a bit of a faff. Which is why an orange, red-toned shade is the one to invest in right now. 

How to apply a diffused red lipstick makeup look

Thom is the creative director of beauty at Givenchy so we are in safe hands.

First, make sure that you prep and moisturise your lips (I’d recommend Glossier’s new After Baume). Then, pop a little of the product straight into the centre of the lips from the bullet. 

Now the fun part, go in with your fingers to spread the product evenly across the lips. At this point you might want to top up - don’t. The beauty of this look is the slight fade you get at the edges.

The best part about it is you don’t have to worry about what you're eating and drinking - you can reapply this lip in seconds.

London Fashion Week may be over for another season, but the sartorial inspiration will go in for months to come.

As per usual, the street style set is our first port of call when it comes to the trends we can wear now, and they're especially great for showing us which accessories - namely designer handbags - are worth investing in.

Having been at the shows for four consecutive days, I can tell you there are five handbags you'll no doubt be seeing a lot more of this season...

The Jacquemus Le Chiquito long tote (£460)

Though not new, Le Chiquito by Jacquemus is still a strong fashion week essential - see the main picture of this article. The long leather tote is a much more wearable version then its iconic micro predecessor, and looks great in pap shots. It's a win win.

The Loewe Cubi anagram bag (£850)

There will always be room for Loewe's iconic Flamenco and Puzzle bags, however this season, it's all about the Cubi. Declined in an array of colours, the navy version below seems to have caught everyone's attention, including this well heeled guest outside the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi show at Heaven.

The Mulberry softie, £1,350

When Mulberry brings out a new style, it's kind of a big deal. Case in point, the new softie collection. Launched only this month, it's already taken the influencer and editor world by storm, and I couldn't stop seeing it on the London cobbles. It's available in different sizes and colours, but I have a particular soft spot for the big red softie tote.

The Prada Cleo embellished shoulder bag (£2,600)

Once you get over the eye-watering price tag, you can't help but fall in love with the rhinestone iteration of Prada's now cult Cleo bag. It's gorgeously decadent, and naturally very Instagram-friendly.

The Bottega Jodie mini (£1,710)

Again, by no means a new style, yet you can't argue with the Jodie mini's popularity. I spotted at least five attendees carrying this eye-catching line green version.

Following on from New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week kicked things off in style with a church-turned-runway for Bora Aksu's show. This week, designers such as Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Roksanda and Erdem will be showcasing their AW22 collections, and we'll be sharing the very best looks with you.

Here's everything that's happened so far.

Roksanda AW22 (main picture)

The iconic Tate Britain was the setting for Roksanda's AW22 show, and what a setting it was. Collaborating with artist Eva Rothschild, the designer created a bold and colourful backdrop that perfectly echoed the collection.

Think exaggerated gowns of padded amorphous and unusual patchworking in trademark colour-blocking, married together in silk taffetas, silk satins, cottons and sand- washed silks to bring new volume and tactility and defying pre-conceived notions of construction.

Molly Goddard AW22

'Taking our seats for the Molly Goddard show, the rain thundered onto the roof but it was drowned out by the 80s rock as the first of many vivid coloured taffeta looks appeared on an elevated catwalk above our heads at the Seymour Leisure Centre in London,' says Editor-in-Chief Andrea Thompson.

'The excitement on the front row was palpable. For this one, the Londoner took inspiration from 80s Camden and Portobello Market and her mum's hip best friend - a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Mick Jones, who the designer recalls as being a crazy mix of "big bleached blond hair, red lipstick, a 50s dress with an army jacket and trainers"'.

Alongside Goddards' signature ultra pretty layered tutu dresses in hot pink and white petticoats, we had sloppy sweaters paired with androgynous platform trainers. There were scruffy old school pineapple ponytails heaped on top and faded denim dresses layered with leggings. It was punky, eclectic, a touch Victoriana and so very London. Goddard said she wanted to "push it to the max" nobody can deny she did that and more today.'

Nensi Dojaka AW22

Nensi Dojaka showcases her AW22 collection as a gradient of fabrications, colours, and cuts: heavy to sheer, dark to light, covered to exposed.

Dusky tones of powder pink and hot fuchsia, a palette of burnt caramel, rust and black adorn lingerie-inspired pieces - the designer's iconic bralette returns - and for the first time, outerwear in the form of puffer and tailored jackets.

Bora Aksu AW22

Bora Aksu set the tone for London Fashion Week with a voyage to the 14th Century, with designs evoking the zeitgeist of renaissance Europe. Inspired by poet Christine de Pizan, who was part of King Charles VI of France's court, he created silhouettes inspired by the customs and costume of the early Renaissance, giving them a modern twist thanks to his signature androgynous tailoring, bold structural pieces and romantic tulle gowns.

RIXO AW22

Inspired by the 1930s, Rixo's 'The Golden Age' collection celebrates the opulence and splendour depicted on the Hollywood movie screens at the time. Co-founder and designer Orlagh told me she wanted to create dresses that you could celebrate in, that elevate your day-to-day look.

'The glitter is my favourite part of the collection. It's got a real bohemian feel thanks to the feather, with a touch of subtle sparkle. It's not overbearing, it's that piece you want to wear when you're back out, socialising,' she said.

Glitter, brocades and rich prints make the collection one of Rixo's most lavish yet understated yet. At the heart of it all is the brand's focus on sustainability.

'We have a lot more eco fabrics in this collection, and we tried to keep the production local as much as possible. We've also tried to be more strategic this year and not buy too much of anything. I think that overconsumption often causes the bigger landfill. I also try and stay off Instagram to avoid fads, I take all my inspiration from places like books, galleries and wallpaper,' says Orlagh.

Marco Capaldo and Kikka Cavenati were inseparable in life, and remain so beyond the physical partition of death. Returning for a second season at London Fashion Week, Designers Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa of Noon By Noor unveiled their Fall 2022 Collection in presentation format today at London's Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). “We brought the collection to life with plays of materials and textures and created interesting contrasts using colours, fabrics, and silhouettes – a clash of clichés,” said Designer Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa.
