Leo Woodall isn't interested in sharing the minutiae of his relationship with Meghann Fahy with the world.

But in a new interview with ELLE UK, the One Day star made some rare comments about their sweet romance.

"We’re very good at keeping it as private as we can," he explained.

"To me, that’s the only way. You see public relationships all the time slapped all over social media and I can’t imagine that’s any fun. [Your relationship] should be a safe space, so I think letting people into it is completely counter-productive."

Indeed, Leo and Meghann have been very good at keeping their relationship private — though not secret, per se. They're often seen together in public, whether that's at an industry event or just out and about. In short, they don't try to pretend they're not dating, but just don't expect them to plaster all the details of their relationship on the front pages of magazines.

Leo and Meghann met on the set of The White Lotus season 2 circa 2022, and nobody saw their romance coming since their characters barely even crossed paths on the show.

Still, their relationship appears to be going really strong.

Dating rumours began surfacing after Leo posted a photo of them on Instagram in September 2022, captioning it "That's amore"

After that, they were photographed together at an event in July 2023, then spotted kissing circa November 2023, which confirmed the rumours.

These days, they only post about each other very occasionally, such as when Meghann shared a photo of the two of them walking with their arms around each other in February 2024.

Leo spoke to ELLE while promoting his new film Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, in which he plays Bridget's age-gap love interest. The film, which comes out Valentine's Day, also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Hugh Grant, Isla Fisher, Emma Thompson and Jim Broadbent. We. Cannot. Wait.

Bridget Jones 4 is officially in sight, with the fourth and final instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, set for release later this month. And from the star-studded viral trailer to the resurfaced original casting details, it’s all anyone can talk about.

The fourth film in the series will revisit Bridget Jones, now in her 50s, after the death of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), navigating motherhood after loss.

And while Colin Firth sadly won’t be returning to the franchise as a result, Renée Zellweger will be joined by original cast members Hugh Grant, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, Gemma Jones and Celia Imrie, among others. Not to mention, new A-list cast members Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leo Woodall, Isla Fisher and Leila Farzad.

It is Leo Woodall’s role that has made the most headlines, with the British actor coming onboard as Bridget Jones’ new love interest. And with Bridget Jones aged 51 in the fourth instalment, and Woodall’s character Roxster aged 29, the age gap between them has got the world talking.

This is something that both Zellweger and Woodall have spoken out about, explaining how age gaps in relationship are "nothing new".

"I mean, I think it’s nothing new," Zellweger explained in a recent interview with Variety. "But maybe the social taboos are melting away… it’s never a bad thing. There’s certain things that we probably don’t need to have opinions about, and where people find love… why would that ever be a problem?"

Woodall also weighed in on the conversation, explaining that it was necessary to "get people used to it".

"It’s a real relationship that happens a lot," Woodall explained. "And you know, we’re just not used to seeing it on screen."

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is set for release on 14 February.

Leo Woodall has been front and centre this season. And since his breakthrough performances in The White Lotus season two and One Day, he has been catapulted to stardom.

This is something that is only set to increase in 2025, with Woodall, 28, starring in the upcoming fourth instalment of the Bridget Jones films, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.

Yes, with Woodall starring alongside Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Chiwetel Ejiofor, in the highly-anticipated release, his fame is expected to reach stratospheric heights this year.

However, according to Woodall, this doesn't come without its complications, with the British actor seemingly opening up about the difficulties of dating in the spotlight.

Woodall has been dating fellow actor and White Lotus co-star Meghann Fahy since 2022. And while the couple is reported to still be going strong, they are notoriously private, only going Instagram official in February last year.

With both Woodall and Fahy gaining increasing public attention, they are sure to have experienced the overnight difficulties of dating in the public eye - something that Woodall seemingly touched on in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.

"Doing One Day I didn't really have a personal life," Woodall recalled. "I knew that I wanted to make that easier on myself in the future."

He later continued: "I've become very aware nowadays of how a person can feel overexposed in your private life. And it's not that fun."

Fahy has also opened up about her approach to romance in the past, telling Cosmopolitan in a 2017 interview that "love is always worth it, no matter what the risk".

"My experience in the world is that you never really know who you’re gonna meet, when you’re gonna meet them, and how they’re gonna make you feel," Fahy explained. "So personally, to put a limit on oneself in that way isn’t something that would work for me. It’s complicated and tricky and in some circumstances can be really risky, but if you find somebody that you think is really special and worth exploring, love is always worth it, no matter what the risk.”

Well, that's that.

Two years ago, rumours were swirling that Bridget Jones 4 was secretly in the works and insiders claimed we could expect a 2024 release. Considering Leo has cemented himself as something of a Gen-Z romcom heartthrob in recent years, and with Bridget taking another stab at winning the hearts of the masses (particularly if she's hoping to win over a younger audience), it's a very clever move.

According to reports, Leo is tipped to play Bridget's new love interest. Although the titular character reunited with Mark Darcy at the end of the third movie, fans are predicting that the plot could follow author Helen Fielding's books - meaning that Bridget could potentially be a single mother looking for love on dating apps. The book of the same name, released in 2013, sees the famous singleton navigating love in a digital age, and teamed with the fact that Colin Firth has not been named in the cast list many are assuming that he won't reprise his role. Sob.

Hugh Grant, however, has been confirmed for Bridget Jones 4 - so if you've been secretly hoping for a toxic Daniel Cleaver-Bridget Jones reunion, you may well get it.

The Netflix adaptation of One Day may have landed on the streaming platform just a few weeks ago, but it has already been a huge success. With Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod at the helm, it has reportedly been watched by over 15 million people since it was released and viewers want to know everything from what was happening behind the scenes to how the actors found their chemistry on screen. 

The series is based on David Nicholls book of the same name. One Day was originally released in 2009 and quickly became a bestseller, and it was eventually given the Hollywood treatment in 2011 with Anne Hathaway starring as Emma and Jim Sturgess playing Dexter. And according to insiders, those hoping for a One Day sequel could be getting another tear jerker in the very near future. 

One source has claimed that Netflix bosses are currently working on obtaining the TV rights for David Nicholls next book, which is still yet to be released. The novel, You Are Here, is due for release on 23rd April 2024 and producers are reportedly keen to adapt more of the author's work following the success of One Day.

 A source reportedly told the Daily Mirror: "Netflix bosses knew they were on to a winner with One Day. They are in the process of signing a new deal for David's next release, which promises to be just as much of a tear jerker."

Although You Are Here is not a sequel to the popular show, it could be just as favourably received as another love story that tugs at the heart strings. The synopsis on Waterstones reads: "A new love story by beloved bestseller David Nicholls, You Are Here is a novel of first encounters, second chances and finding the way home."

Now that we've got a One Day shaped hole in our lives, this absolutely needs to happen. 

Meghann Fahy wants the world to know Leo Woodall is her man.

The Bold Type star took to Instagram on Tuesday to share an adorable photo of herself with her White Lotus costar, taken from the back, which shows them walking with their arms around each other in Boston.

Meghann captioned the post with just a string of emojis: a smiley face, a slice of pizza, and a blue heart, and tagged Leo in it.

Fans were immediately shaken by the post, with one person writing: "The hard launch of dreams" (For the uninitiated, a "hard launch" is when someone posts a picture on social media that makes it obvious that two people are an item.)

Other commenters joked that Meghann wanted to make sure we all know that Leo is taken following the incredible success of the Netflix miniseries One Day, in which he plays the main character alongside Ambika Mod..

"She saw us thirsting after him and had to set the record straight," wrote one person.

"i’m so dead she rlly said time to lock it down," added someone else.

"She saw all the edits and said that’s MY man!" quipped another.

Though neither Meghann nor Leo had directly commented on the relationship until this picture, they had previously shown PDA that made it clear they were dating.

While the two met on the set of The White Lotus season 2, which aired in the autumn of 2022, it wasn't until Leo nabbed the top role in One Day that people really started paying attention to the English actor. Since then, the youths have made edit after edit of him generally being a dreamboat and posted them to TikTok.

As a reminder, Meghann played the bored, somewhat shallow housewife Daphne on the drama series, while Leo played Tom Hollander's "nephew" Jack. Their storylines didn't cross directly on the show, so their romance is both unexpected and delightful.

While Emma and Dexter's love story might be familiar to millennials thanks to the 2011 movie starring Anne Hathaway, it has found a new audience via the streaming platform - and has simultaneously catapulted Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod to new heights. 

The actors have worked on a number of big projects before - Leo starred in the second season of The White Lotus, while you might recognise Ambika from This Is Going To Hurt - but things weren't always plain sailing during filming. In fact, Ambika recently admitted that she almost quit the show and added: "This was so much bigger than anything either of us had ever done before and I think we both felt really similarly about the undertaking."

During an interview with Elle UK, Leo also admitted that there is one key scene that was particularly hard to film. Although their scene on the Scottish hills was a very picturesque moment - and an important part of the characters' story - it turns out that behind the scenes things weren't so peachy.

Leo shared: "The hardest scene to film, for me, was a day on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. We were at the top of this big, big, almost mountain. And I had food poisoning. So we had to do the entire scene with me… you know… really not having a good time. But I couldn’t come off the mountain because we'd lose all the day [of filming]. So, I just had to kind of plough through."

He added: "It was a horrible experience."

The show must go on, as they say, and despite his unfortunate ill health Leo delivered a stellar performance. One Day has been widely praised, and recorded a staggering 5.3 million views in the first four days of its release. 

Leo Woodall is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about men in the world, and with two major (and critically acclaimed) projects dropping this past year, his star is only rising.

The anecdote in question involved the HBO show's star Jennifer Coolidge (Tanya McQuoid), with Woodall recalling in an interview with The One Show that he thought she hated him in the early days of filming.

It turns out however that Coolidge was just a "masterful improviser" and there was no bad blood in the slightest.

“[Jennifer Coolidge is] a masterful improviser and it scared the life out of me," Woodall explained The One Show this week. “My first day on set, speaking, was this dinner scene and I think at the top of the scene, someone’s collapsed in the background and we were told to improvise, so I made up a joke at this guy’s expense. And she kind of went, in character, ‘No, you can’t say that. No’."

Woodall continued: “I was like a deer in the headlights. And afterwards I thought, ‘Oh God. Jennifer hates me.’ She’s just so great. A great actor.”

"During Lotus, I knew that whatever I did, it didn’t really matter. The show was going to be amazing and it was going to be a hit," Woodall explained recently in a conversation with Tom Hollander for Interview Magazine. "But with One Day, it was not a new piece of writing, but a new show, and it’s hard to picture what it’s going to look like in the edit. My expectations were high, but it exceeded all of them."

“I think we met up for coffee, which then turned into a gin and tonic around lunchtime, the day before we went into pre-production, just to kind of have a natter,”  Woodall explained to Variety about their friendship. “Pretty early, I guess we both realised that we were not alone in this big mountain that we thought we had to climb."

He continued: "We knew that we were going to lean on each other a bit, and we were lucky in that we did bond early, and and it made working a lot easier. I think maybe our friendship carried through on screen.”

“I just think it’s such a beautiful story," he added about David Nicholls' One Day. "It’s dubbed as a romance story, but there’s just so much life in it. There’s so many life events that these two characters go through. I think from from an acting standpoint, it was a wonderful, challenging kind of gift to be able to play a character at many different points in life.”

Many millennials may remember One Day as the noughties movie starring Anne Hathaway and her various British accents. However, the story - based on the best-selling novel by David Nicholls - has been adapted once again, this time as a TV series for streaming giant Netflix. 

Starring Leo Woodall of The White Lotus fame and This Is Going To Hurt's Ambika Mod in the lead roles, it follows the lives of Dexter and Emma as they navigate each year of their lives growing both closer and further apart. And while both actors have been praised for their performances, Ambika has shared that she was actually very close to quitting the show during filming.

Discussing working with Leo, she said on the Reign podcast: "I met Leo at the chemistry reads and he was the second Dexter I read with. He is so cheeky and charming. He was so open and warm just immediately and it felt really easy, the scenes felt really playful and I think that’s really rare.

"That was really half the battle because I think if that had been cast wrong, it would have been so much harder. You just can’t fake that stuff and I’m really grateful to have had an actor like Leo. We were both going through a very, very similar thing. This was so much bigger than anything either of us had ever done before and I think we both felt really similarly about the undertaking."

But she also added that her co-star was to thank for keeping her grounded during filming, and that whenever she doubted herself he was there to support her. She continued: "We were both really open when we were struggling, when we didn’t feel like things were right. I remember just like, maybe I was more vocal about it than him, but I would come out of every scene just being like, 'Oh, I'm a fucking shit actor, I should fucking quit right now, I hate myself'.

"And he was always very supportive to me in that, and I hope vice versa. It was good to have someone like that because as an actor you might not always have that."

The Netflix show has already been a huge success, with reports that it not only debuted at number 3 on the Netflix Global Top 10 when it was released but also brought in 5.3 million views in the first four days of release. Impressive.

Leo Woodall has been making quite the name for himself over the last couple of years. The actor won a legion of fans after appearing in season 2 of The White Lotus, and following the release of One Day on Netflix earlier this month he has cemented himself as a bit of a Gen Z heartthrob. 

The British actor played Essex boy Jack in the HBO show back in 2022, but has since taken on the role of floppy-haired public school boy Dexter in the series adaptation of David Nicholls' best-selling book. While the film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess had a lukewarm reception when it was released in 2011, the Netflix show has been widely praised with Ambika Mod and Eleanor Tomlinson being acknowledged for their performances. 

But with One Day at the front of their minds, it has only just become apparent to Leo's fans that he's actually from a very famous acting family. And he doesn't just have one or two family members with Thespian credentials - everyone from his parents, to his stepfather, and even his famous girlfriend are in the industry. 

So, who are they? Leo's father is actor Andrew Woodall, who is known for his roles in Grantchester, Endeavour, the Couple Next Door and Solo: A Star Wars Story. His mother, Jane Morton, trained as an actor but decided against a silver screen career - however, she went on to marry Alexander Morton, making Leo's step-dad another actor. He is most known for his roles in Luther, Casualty and Monarch of the Glen. And, of course, Leo's girlfriend is rumoured to be his The White Lotus co-star, Meghann Fahy. 

In an interview with the Guardian, Leo admitted that he has often felt 'personal pressure to make it' as a successful actor given that his family are also in the industry, stating that he wants their 'approval'. He said: "I was so nervous about what my family would think of me as an actor. Just, was I any good? I’ve always felt this personal pressure to make it. And they’ve always been wonderful and supportive."

He added: "It’s nothing to do with how they are. It’s completely self-inflicted. And that’s OK, I suppose. It’s a motivator."

Given the huge amount of success he has enjoyed in such a short space of time, it doesn't look like he has anything to worry about.

Fahy has also opened up to Cosmopolitan in the past about her approach to romance, saying that "love is always worth it, no matter what the risk".

It has been 13 years since the adaptation of David Nicholls's best-selling novel starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess hit screens, and made us all weep over the bittersweet tale of missed opportunities. Now Netflix is retelling the story through a 14-part series, with two new actors taking on the central roles of Dexter and Emma. 

The streaming service announced the news back in 2021 and we've been eagerly waiting for news ever since. Now that the One Day trailer has dropped, we're finally seeing its cast in action - and Leo Woodall in a whole new light. 

You'll recognise the British actor from the second season of The White Lotus, where he played Essex boy Jack (Leo apparently studied the accent of TOWIE's Joey Essex to prepare for the role). With The White Lotus' third season's cast recently confirmed, it's unlikely we'll see him again in the HBO show - but it's safe to say he's taking a very different route with his role in One Day. Gone is the cheeky Jack-the-lad persona, and in its place is floppy-haired Dexter, a romantic public school boy.

You'll also spot Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson, who also recently starred in swingers thriller The Couple Next Door, as Dexter's humourless love interest (and later wife), Sylvie. This Is Going To Hurt's Ambika Mod takes on the role of Emma.

Ambika said of the production (via the Radio Times): "I really enjoyed the film, but I think a lot of people felt that – and I would agree – that an hour-and-a-half movie isn't usually enough to dedicate to this epic novel that spans 20 years.

"So, hopefully, in our series we’ll be able to cover more ground and sort of zoom in on the story with more detail… I think the way that our writers are going about it is really beautiful, and hopefully people will just be able to see more of the book in the series."

When will Netflix's One Day be released? 

One Day will drop on Netflix on 8th February 2024 - just in time for Valentine's Day. The streaming service made the official announcement on X, alongside the caption: "Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall star in One Day, based on the best-selling book. Coming 8th February 2024."
