And now, eight months in, their romance has reportedly become increasingly serious, with the A-listers going Instagram official and even taking part in their first joint political appearance.

This week, it was a social media post that made Perry and Trudeau headlines, as the couple appeared to playfully address their age gap for the first time.

The Firework singer is 13 years younger than the Canadian politician - something the pair appeared to reference in a recent Instagram post, showing them holding up screens of their biological ages.

"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?," Perry captioned the photograph, with Perry's biological age calculation reading 33.1 and Trudeau's reading 43.

Perry's fans certainly seemed to approve of the carousel of photographs, with followers commenting their love for the couple in their thousands.

"Haven't seen you smile this much before!!," commented one follower, while another posted: "It's so good to see you sooo happy."

Given where we are as a society—where private space travel for the ultra-rich garners little more than a collective shrug—it makes a strange sort of sense that Sánchez, helicopter pilot, media personality, and betrothed to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, would throw a hen do so astronomically lavish it all but sounded the death knell for stealth wealth and quiet luxury.

Photos from the weekend, which flew across social media with the speed of a Blue Origin test flight, show Sánchez surrounded by a bevy of glamorous women, wrapped in pristine white robes and oversized sunglasses, iPhones in tow (a wink, perhaps, at how the spectacle played out across social platforms?). The dressing gown-and-shades combo is an Instagram trope, as common on the app as the caption “Office for the week” when posting about one’s holiday. But that’s where any similarities between your average hen and this supersized soirée ended.

There was a stay at the ritzy Cheval Blanc hotel, dinner at the city’s esteemed Lafayette’s restaurant—where guests reportedly snacked on fried chicken starters—and a champagne-fuelled cruise along the Seine. All in, reports put the cost at £500,000. The wedding itself, reportedly due to take place in Venice next month, is rumoured to come in around the £5 million mark, with Elton John and Lady Gaga supposedly set to perform. The Times reported that the fleet of water taxis required to ferry glamorous guests around will cost £250,000 alone—almost ten times more than the average, albeit exorbitant, cost of a typical wedding.

Then, of course, there were the outfits: bridal whites, long a mainstay of hen parties, came in the form of an Arctic-white furry coat, a corseted co-ord by French brand Murmur, lashings of diamonds, and that Judith Leiber bag. There was also an Oscar de la Renta moment—a white crop top and matching mini skirt appliquéd with blooms.

It’s easy, and tempting, to dismiss the entire spectacle as simply the rich being rich, but as the images filled my feed—despite my not following Sánchez or any of the attendees—it became harder to console myself with the old adage: money can’t buy taste.

Sánchez, it’s worth noting, is no idle ornament in Bezos’s orbit. A pilot and entrepreneur with her own (much-derided) Vogue cover shoot, she has become a kind of First Lady of Billionaire America. That her hen party doubled as a spectacle isn’t only about vanity—it’s about visibility. The weekend, too, wasn’t just a party; it was a statement.

What that statement is, exactly, remains open to interpretation. What became increasingly clear, to me at least, as the weekend unfurled is that the rich are tired of pretending they aren’t. It felt like a middle finger to modesty, as well as a knowing wink to the haters (see again that bathrobe shoot and the mock horror as one of her hens checks her phone).

Of course, it could simply be exactly what it looks like at first glance: a party so ostentatious it can only exist in the gravity-free world of the ultra-rich—Marie Antoinette with a ring light. When it comes to this new Gilded Age, the rocket has already left the launch pad. It doesn’t much matter whether we’re inspired or appalled—we’ve all been pulled into orbit.

In case you somehow missed this whole episode, Katy embarked on an 11-minute trip into space on 14 April on a spacecraft made possible by Jeff Bezos. The flight was all-female, and also included the TV anchor Gayle King, Jeff's partner Lauren Sánchez, plus Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyễn, and Kerianne Flynn.

But after the fact, the trip drew all sorts of backlash — with celebs including Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn and Lily Allen expressing their disapproval. Many memes also criticised the project.

As arguably the most famous person onboard the flight, and as someone with her fair share of controversy under her belt already, Katy seems to have received the most amount of backlash out of the crew — and she certainly noticed.

The singer recently commented on an Instagram post from a fan account, thanking her supporters for being with her through thick and thin, and explaining that she's doing okay despite the criticism she's endured.

"When the 'online' world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed," Katy wrote, seemingly referring to the backlash over her trip to space.

"I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS"

Many people criticised the Blue Origin flight as a display of "privilege" and hypocritical when it comes to protecting the planet.

Lily Allen has somewhat backtracked on her previous comments about it all.

She originally called out "Katy Perry and her mates all going up to space for 12 minutes" on her podcast (via BBC News). She added: "It's so out of touch. Like, we're on the brink of recession. People are really... struggling to make ends meet and put food on their tables.

"And the fact that they've, like, made it like some sort of feminist thing..."

But on a more recent episode of Miss Me, the English singer said: "There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalised misogyny."

She continued: "I've been thinking about it a lot, and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her. I mean, I disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn't the only person that did it."

Katy Perry has just revealed a pretty unusual keepsake she's still got from when she was pregnant with hers and Orlando Bloom's daughter.

The popstar recently sat down with Capital to talk through some of her most pivotal Instagram photos from over the years, including one of her as a teenager, and a selfie of her with Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour (what feud?!).

But it's one particular photo — and Katy's explanation of it — that has been making the rounds online since her interview.

"Here is my pee stick test for when I conceived my daughter Daisy Dove Bloom," the singer explained.

"I remember, Orlando was gone and I called him, I FaceTimed him when I was on a hike and I was like: 'Guess what!'

"We had wished for her so much and had set every intention and we just got our biggest gift.

"It was the best decision I've ever made. And I still have it. And that's weird, but it's not. I don't care."

Off-camera, the interviewer asked Katy where exactly she keeps said pee stick, and she wasn't sure at first, then said: "It's in a drawer with lots of things. You know what else is in the drawer? It's probably next to Orlando's Legolas ears. Just, like, all the most important things."

Katy posted the photo of the pregnancy test on Instagram on Mother's Day in 2024, writing: "Today I told my mother that the day I realized how much she loved me is the day I had my own daughter, Daisy Dove… there is nothing like a Mother’s love… never take it for granted… Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caretakers — any way you come"

Speaking to Audacy in a new interview, the singer shared that most of her family "has had enough" of being made to listen to her music, so she doesn't sit them down to play them her whole album. Instead, she'll play them "little bits and pieces," she explained.

That said, it sounds like she has a huge fan in Flynn.

"I'll play things to Orlando's son, who's 13, and he has a really good ear," she said. "He's probably the best person out of my whole family."

She also shared: "He loved 'Never Really Over.' I played that to him before it came out, and I was like, 'What do you think?' and he's like, 'Yeah, this is good.' He's got good taste. He loves this song called 'All The Love,' which is on 143, and that's like one of my favourite songs that I wrote."

Katy also explained that her daughter Daisy, who is 4, is really loving her song "Roar" at the moment, and calls it "the tiger song." Too cute.

Orlando shares Flynn with his ex Miranda Kerr, whom he was married to between 2010 and 2013.

Miranda and Katy have become close friends ever since the singer and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor have been together, and often talk about how much they love each other. In one January 2023 Instagram post, Katy even called the model her "sister from another mister."

“We weren’t really in it from day one,” Perry explained this week during an episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. “He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can’t do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had yet to do a lot of real work.”

Perry went on to talk about The Hoffman Process - a one week retreat aimed at releasing and resolving negative behavioural patterns, explaining how Bloom's behavioural changes altered his approach to their relationship.

“He wasn’t playing that cat-mouse game anymore," she recalled. "And I was like, ‘This is boring. I’m moving on.' I was so used to this push-pull. Because once you have it... I was playing games.”

Later, Perry explained how she herself ultimately decided to enrol in The Hoffman Process after the "really tough year" following their split, explaining how it "changed her life".

“I would not be on this planet without that process, and meditation,” Perry explained. “When Witness came out and things started to shift, and I thought I really loved myself. I thought I really had that centre, but actually that core was created from outside validation. It just helped me rewire what I think about myself, and it helped me connect my head to my heart.”

The couple ultimately got back together, but according to Perry, they continue to work at their relationship.

“Orlando and I, we do a lot of couple’s therapy and we want to evolve,” Perry explained. “That’s why we’re in this relationship - to become better humans so that we can raise this amazing human being."

Bloom has also opened up about the challenges of their relationship in the past, explaining to Flaunt magazine last year that it takes work.

"We're in two very different pools," he explained. "Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Still, an outfit she wore recently during Paris Couture Week surely takes the cake (pun intended) for one of Katy's most surprising looks of all time.

Arriving to the Ritz Hotel, the singer hopped out of a car in what at first may have seemed like quite a normal red bodycon, one-shouldered mini-dress, but as she kept walking away from the vehicle, it became clear that Katy was being followed by a completely massive train.

In fact, according to Rolling Stone, the train measured some 500 feet long, which is just so extra to start with.

But the surprises didn't stop there: as the train unfurled more and more, it became clear to onlookers that the fabric had words printed on it.

The words in question? Fans are pretty sure they're actually the lyrics to Katy's next single, titled "Woman's World."

Unfortunately, it was a bit hard to make out all of the words, since Katy was walking fairly fast and the fabric was folding over as she went.

Still, we do already know some of the words to "Woman's World" as Katy has previously released a preview for the song, which includes the lyrics: "She's a mother / Open your eyes, just look around and you'll discover / You know / It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it / Uh-huh, uh-huh"

While in Paris, Katy also made waves when she walked the runway at the Vogue World: Paris show, dressed in a sculptural cut-out black leather dress and completely naked under it.

As for Katy's new music, fans could not be more excited for it, as she hasn't released an album since 2020. Woman's World, the album, will be released on July 11.

At an event in New York City this week, Katy told the crowd that she is celebrating five weeks of sobriety after making a promise to her fiancé Orlando Bloom that she would quit alcohol for three months. 

She said: "I’ve been sober for five weeks today. I’ve been doing a pact with my partner and I want to quit.

People reports that she added: "I can’t cave. I made a promise. Three months."

Katy and Orlando are parents to two year old daughter Daisy, and have been engaged since 2019. 

The American Idol judge has previously spoken about how the couple support each other in their different ventures and lifestyles, telling Vogue in January 2020: "I have a partner who is also all about finding a balance—Orlando, who is on a spiritual journey of his own.

Despite being one of the biggest beauty trend-setters of our time, Kim Kardashian has revealed that she really regrets one permanent change she made to her looks years ago.

Folks, it’s not contouring and it’s not fake tanning. It’s not botox or fillers or some secret butt implants we never knew about. Nope, Kim’s big beauty regret is simply having her baby hair permanently laser removed.

‘I lasered my baby hairs off years ago, because my forehead had all these little baby hairs, and I would always break out because of them,’ Kim explained on her website KimKardashianWest.com. 

‘I also lasered my neck because I had such a hairy neck. Every photographer would photoshop them out anyway, and I thought I looked better without the baby hairs, but now I miss them. I think they look youthful! So ladies, you can always laser your hairline, but I miss mine.’

The baby hair debate is kind of relatable – too much and your flyaways are hard to style and can cause oily build ups if they get all caught up in your makeup. Too few and your hairline and face shape look too, well, perfect, really.

On the AW15 catwalks baby hair came back, as Givenchy based their entire show look around kiss curls, plus stars including FKA Twigs, Katy Perry and even Kim’s sister Kylie Jenner slicked their loose strands into statement swirls.

The moral of this tale? Always think twice before making a permanent beauty change. Trends will change and things you thought you never wanted to see again can absolutely come back into fashion. Even your hairy neck.

1. Johnny Depp Performed With Marilyn Manson Taking over Amoeba, one of LA’s iconic independent record stores, Stella’s show brought the fashion and music worlds together. First Pink performed a set to the intimate crowd, before Brian Wilson played some Beach Boys classics. Then, the surprise of all surprises, Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp teamed up to close the show.

2. Stella’s Collection Was A Sheer Delight The Amoeba store (which was all jazzed up with rainbow neon tube lighting) provided the perfect backdrop for Stella’s Autumn collection, as models in sugary organza layers posed between vintage pinball machines and colourful music posters. All the girls got their groove on, dad-dancing in nostalgic oversized knits, teamed with cat-lady print skirts.

3. The Crowd Was Achingly Cool Did we mention the A-list audience? From Ringo Star to Beck, Haim to Mary J Blige, the rock-star venue attracted a who’s who of the music world’s finest. The only person missing? Stella’s dad, Sir Paul. See all the pictures in the gallery above. 

4. The After Party Spawned New BFFships  Kate Hudson gossiped with Kelly Osbourne and Demi Lovato. Orlando Bloom swung by to catch Johnny Depp’s big performance. We haven’t seen this level of mingling since, um, Monday’s Golden Globes, actually. It’s the starriest time of the year, don’t forget.

Yes, just a month after Taylor Swift debuted the blockbuster video for her track Bad Blood, Madonna has unveiled her own squad of super-powerful women in music. Taylor’s Bad Blood featured an all-star BFF cast including Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Ellie Goulding, and the queen of pop has also picked her pals straight from the top of the charts.

Fronting the new single Bitch I’m Madonna (catchy title, mm?) it’s thought that only Nicki’s vocals appear on the track with Madge, with the full video likely to drop first on Tidal in the next few weeks.

Revealing the cast of her video on Instagram (just like Taylor did) Madonna posted: ‘Video coming soon! Just tryin to make it perfect for all of you (…) we are hard werking bitches! #bitchimmadonna’

We can’t help but notice the similarities between Madonna’s artwork and Taylor’s original poster (below). It’s already well-documented that there’s been some Bad Blood between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, so, we’re wondering, what's with all this rivalry in the industry, and is 'Bitch I'm Madonna' an attack? Or is this simply all a coincidence, with Madonna just bringing together five of her favourite powerful pop chicks?

Another thing that Madonna’s girl gang all have in common is Tidal. While Swift and her clique are all pretty opposed to Spotify and music streaming services, Madonna, Queen Bey and their friends all have stakes in the Jay-Z-led business.

Madonna later teased a tiny clip of the video on her page – a few atmospheric shots of what looked like an abandoned pool party and a smashed piñata tiger. Cryptic.

Coachella officially kicked off this weekend, with everyone from Kendall Jenner to Kate Bosworth dashing to the desert in their best boho wares, to take in 2015's all-star musical line-up.

This is the first opportunity of the year for stars to show off their festival styling game, with many changing up to three times a day and taking as many selfies as possible in front of all those props and scenery (Instagram has never seen so many pouts in front of palm trees).

Anyone who's anyone is working it in a dreamy dress from Chloe?s SS15 collection (we see you, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Alexa Chung) while Coach?s colour-pop satchels, the Swagger and the Dakota, are the festival IT-bag of choice.

When it comes to fashion parties, Coachella's where it's at, with Moschino, Coach and more hosting private poolside lolz for Katy Perry, Ashley Greene and co.

Coachella is an ideal opportunity to test out a new festival hair trend, too - Jourdan Dunn'ss 'unicorn dust' dye job is sooo SS15 and we might just have a go at copying Kate Bosworth's centre parting plait for ourselves.

Brooklyn Beckham sported a new tattoo (don't worry Victoria, it's temporary) as he got on the Red Bulls with a big group of friends, while Kendall did matching denim cut-offs with little sister Kylie and Gigi Hadid as they watched friends like Tyler, The Creator perform.

Baby hair was back and looking slicker than ever at the Givenchy show last night, as designer Riccardo Tisci made a new beauty statement to complement his fierce AW15 collection. Katy Perry got the memo in advance and wet her sideburns accordingly, before taking her seat on the front row, next to Paris Fashion Week staples Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Here’s how the show played out, by numbers…

51 Aggressive / Progressive Beauties Givenchy’s beauty game was strong. Make-up queen Pat McGrath gave each girl a nose ring the size of a baroque chandelier, hands-down winning the prize of most striking look of the season. Choosing to team it with face jewels and swirling, wet-look baby hair, Tisci was inspired by South America’s chola girl gangs. We think it’s the kind of look that FKA Twigs would be seriously proud of.

4 Front Row Mega-Starlets And all wearing all black every-thang. Katy Perry looked gothic glam in her lace panel dress, while Kim Kardashian did drawstring body-con as only she can. Current Givenchy campaign girls Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfried kept things a little more low-key in a sharp black tux and sweetie bow dress respectively, while honourable mention goes out to Anna Dello Russo, who worked a top-to-toe look from the spring collection as she air kissed like a pro. 

6 Pacman Machines Tisci’s set was decked out like an old arcade, complete with neon strip lights, vintage video games and a couple of skateboards thrown in for good measure. Kanye was in his element.

10 Years Of Tisci No, we can’t believe it either – Riccardo’s celebrating a decade at the helm of the iconic French house this month. Season after season he’s reinvented his woman to huge acclaim; for SS15 she was a glam gladiator and this time she’s a Victoriana gangster. Dark and dangerous and sporting stunning lace and precious jewels, the AW15 look is another beautiful mash-up of historical fabrics done in daring new cuts. We think it's safe to say the Givenchy ticket is hotter than ever.

Beyoncé Queen Bey’s sticking with a style she knows well in this Proenza Schouler plunge gown. Look a little closer to really appreciate the exquisite embellishment within the sheer black lace gown.

Kim Kardashian Kim turns this gilded granny cardigan by Jean Paul Gaultier Couture into a flesh-flashing, uber-embellished, Grammy-worthy dress. The chainmail dressing gown must have weighed a ton, so she’s worked it with a brand new bob to lighten the load.

Katy Perry There’s a lot going on here. Chandelier earrings and a new lilac rinse – and that’s before we even mention Katy’s uber-embellished Zuhair Murad dress.

Taylor Swift Taylor nods to SS15’s mermaid trend in her own way with this ombre Elie Saab gown. The cool cutwork and mini vs maxi skirt concept make the look feel fresh and different from the dozens of other fishtail frocks we've seen on the red carpet this season.

Jessie J Jessie’s flying the flag for Brit couture in this vamped-up sheer dress by Ralph And Russo. We love the slick hair and ear cuff effort too.

Gwen Stefani The cage bodice of this Atelier Versace jumpsuit looks way better on Gwen than it did on the runway. Props to Ms Stefani for making the look her own by rolling the trousers to an ankle grazing length and teaming with her style signatures – a hugeee quiff and sharp pointed pumps.

Haim Leave it to the Haim sisters to bring the cool factor to the red carpet. The girls avoid frou frou frocks in favour of slick tuxedos and fringed midi-dresses. Good work.

Rita Ora Rita’s gone ice-queen with a new platinum crop to match her sequin-blitzed Prada column gown. Smokey eyes and heavy metal Lorraine Schwartz ear cuffs add even more edge.

Madonna Madge worked not one, but two matador-themed Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci ensembles at the Grammys this year – a fair effort by anyone’s standards. She showcased her strong bod (and flashed a lot of bum) in her corset and fishnets combo, teamed with thigh high boots and a veiled velvet Montera hat. We’re not sure we expected anything less, really.

The pressure on Brady is insane - one year his team lost and the sh*t hit the fan. Big time.

Katy Perry Wowed At Half Time You know you’ve made it as a global superstar when you ride into your Super Bowl halftime show gig atop a giant gold lion. Following in the footsteps of Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Madonna, it was Katy Perry’s turn to take the spotlight this year, wearing flaming Jeremy Scott and Moschino, no less. ‘I wanted something strong, powerful, and iconic for Katy’s entrance,’ Jeremy says of her girl-on-fire opening look. Katniss Everdeen would be seriously proud.

The Entire Population Gets Really, Really Into It… The atmosphere is electric and the entire stadium gets packed with celebs. But will it be Hillary Clinton?

Two of the world’s most powerful female forces (a pop superstar and a First Lady) are already showing sisterly support for the USA's inaugural woman President – whether she is indeed front runner Hillary Clinton, or some other gal.

Speaking to ABC at the Summit On Working Families, Michelle Obama declared that a female President should be elected “as soon as possible.”

“I think this country is ready — this country is ready for anyone who can do that job,” she said. “The person who should do the job is the person who is most qualified, and we have some [female] options, don’t we?”

Mrs Obama did however, conceed that she would “definitely not” ever run for the top spot herself, but would continue with the service elements of her role long after her family leaves the White House.

Katy Perry, meanwhile, has been offering her support directly to Hillary, tweeting, “I told @hillaryclinton that I would write her a "theme" song if she needs it...”

Referring to her book, Hard Choices, Hillary tweeted back, "Well that’s not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar."

While it remains to be seen whether Hillary will run in the 2016 US elections, it seems her unique brand of girl power is already gathering momentum.

We have a sneaky feeling the singer may be playing a trick on the media by wearing multiple 'engagement' rings

Katy Perry made headlines when she was spotted out with a giant diamond sparkler adorning her left-hand ring finger on Tuesday night.

Rumours instantly began to fly that the ring was a sign that her boyfriend John Mayer had popped the question. But now we're beginning to think she's just having a bit of fun with the media.

At the Brit Awards 2014 last night, Katy was noticeably missing the platinum diamond ring that caused a stir earlier in the week. But when she changed clothes for the after party, she put on a new piece of jewellery.

This time it was a wide gold band with a giant dark-coloured gemstone that popped up conspicuously on her left hand.

As she chatted with Radio One Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw and sipped champagne, the eye-catching rock was clearly visible.

So that leaves us wondering: Are either of these rings an actual engagement ring from John Mayer? Or is the ring parade just her cheeky way of brushing off the rumours?

At this point, our money is on the latter. But we'll have to wait and see.

Opening up to the lovely lot at Marie Claire US, the Roar singer says the couple’s divorce went on to do damage to her new relationship with John Mayer.

Talking opening to Marie Claire, she revealed that how wasn’t ready to start a family when Russell wanted to.

‘I’m definitely not there yet, and I can’t plan that far in advance,’ she explained. ‘When I decide to have a family, I’ll just want to be Mom for a little bit [Russell] really wanted me to have children, and I knew I wasn’t ready – I think it was a way of control.

‘I think it was part of, if I have a kid, then I would have to sacrifice – I’d have to be home more. I really wanted to, but I knew I wasn’t ready for it. It wasn’t like, ‘Hey, let’s have a kid because we’re in love’.’

'There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, 'OK. All right. I can't feel this. This is too intense right now.' I was, like, just eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos and drinking, and that's it.'

Turning her attention to her new relationship with John Mayer, the I Kissed A Girl songstress revealed the pain her divorce caused the new couple.

‘I took a break from my boyfriend, not one that I wanted. It was like a splash of cold water to search inward on what was going on with me.

‘That is what let me to this new awakening, this realising, if I don’t do some self-love, I’m not going to be able to keep the love I want.

‘I still needed to deal with all of my ex husband stuff. I hadn’t. It’s almost like if I kept talking about it, it would seem like I actually care about it. I don’t.’

We didn't think this band would ever agree to take to the Brit Awards stage. How times have changed...

The Brit Awards 2014 is set to be one helluva show, as organisers have announced that Arctic Monkeys will open the ceremony with a live performance.

This will be the first time the Sheffield group will have played at the show, and if something doesn't feel quite right about their agreement to take to the Brits stage, that's probably because the four-piece has been none to enthusiastic about the music awards show in the past.

In 2006, the band refused to attend the ceremony to collect their Breakthrough Act award, and the following year they sent a mocking video message instead of showing up. In 2008, they did RSVP and attend in person, but their acceptance speech for winning Best British Group was quickly cut by angry ITV bosses when frontman Alex Turner got a little too sarcastic.

Speaking to the Independent, Brits chairman Christian Tattersfield said: 'It took a lot of wining and dining on behalf of the Brits but it was my absolute priority to get Arctic Monkeys to perform. It has been their year. It helps that the Brit Awards is now seen as a credible event and is no longer the shambles it was four or five years ago.'

Katy Perry will also join the Arctic Monkeys to perform on the night, which will take place next February. 

'The Brits has always showcased the music that I love and am influenced by. It's an honour to play at such a prestigious event where musicality shines at its brightest.' Katy said.

Milliner Philip Treacy has also been named as the creator of next year's Brit statuette, which will also mark James Corden's final turn as the Brit Awards host.

Responding to criticism that the Brits has become somewhat boring and predictable in the past few years, Tattersfield said: 'We needed to stop the mayhem but we want some more excitement this year.'

Maybe 2014 will see the return of the Brits we once knew and loved. Fingers crossed...

The are-they, aren't-they pair, who are rumoured to have split and reunited several times in recent months, hung out backstage at the Philly 4th of July Jam Concert, held as part of the Welcome America Festival in the US.

Taking to Twitter to share a shape of her beau, Katy wrote: 'Whose broad stripes & bright stars?'.

The picture, taken from behind, shows the pair in patriotic dress with their arms around each other.

The sneaky snap came as John Mayer was preparing to take to the stage for the Independence day gig.

Earlier this month, the couple appeared to be getting rather serious, rather quickly, when they were spotted supervising a moving and storage company at Katy's new Hollywood home.

Workers were spied moving several large items of funiture, plus a series of smaller goods, into the singer's lavish $11.5million Hollywood pad.

Robert Pattinson may have only split from long-term love Kristen Stewart a few weeks ago, but the star was looking back to his best as he was snapped with fans at a recent Björk concert.

The Twilight heart-throb was pictured cuddling up to a clutch of young female fans at the gig at the Hollywood Palladium. Wearing a white T-shirt, a dark blue jacket and a baseball cap worn back to front, Rob looked tanned and fit with a layer of designer stubble. Heartbreak? What heartbreak?

The delighted fans (who wouldn't be getting up close to R-Patz?!) posted the pictures onto their Twitter accounts. One posted a caption in Icelandic stating that rumoured new love Katy Perry arrived 'on his arm'.

The sighting only adds to the rumours that suggest that the two A-listers are enjoying a romance. Eyewitnesses claim that Rob has found comfort in the arms of Katy following his break-up from Kristen. The twosome reportedly arrived at the Björk gig together, watched the show before leaving separately and heading to an after-party at the singer's LA home.

Katy, please don't break our hearts, we were enjoying the thought of Robert living life as a single man. Sigh.

Robert Pattinson has found comfort in the arms of Katy Perry following his split from Kristen Stewart – the pair were photographed together while hanging out at a Bjork concert at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday night.

In a move that is sure to set tongues in Hollywood wagging, Rob and Katy arrived at the gig together. They watched the concert – Katy in a black dress and coat and Rob in a casual outfit with a baseball cap – before leaving separately, no doubt to put paps off their scent.

Katy left via the back entrance, while Rob left via the front after a quick cigarette with a friend (naughty Rob).

It's then thought that Katy invited a big group of friends, including Robert Pattinson, back to her LA home for an after-party. No wonder Kristen Stewart's been trying to keep herself busy by going for sushi and cocktails nearby in Los Feliz. Kristen and Rob have been spotted hanging out with Katy before, but it's only Rob that the singer has been seen comforting in recent weeks.

There have been a number of sightings of the pair, including one at a wedding rehearsal that the couple gatecrashed. As you do.

Rumours about the nature of Rob and Katy's relationship came into question last month when Katy split from John Mayer and Rob moved out of the home he shared with Kristen.

But recent reports state that Katy and John were spotted having dinner together at Chateau Marmont, while a removal van at Katy's new pad was also thought to contain John's belongings.

Russell Brand has finally opened up about his divorce to Katy Perry, and insists that he didn't cheat on the singer

Russell Brand has spoken about his marriage to Katy Perry and insists that he wasn't to blame for their divorce, despite rumours in Hollywood suggesting he may have been unfaithful to the singer.

Talking about their relationship in a new interview with Esquire, he admits that he thinks fame has something to do with why the pair couldn't make their marriage last.

He says: 'Some of it's the fame, but I think getting married is – you've got a whole other person that you've got to make as important as you.

'When I'm in a relationship I'm diligently monogamous and stick to the principles agreed on within that relationship. You've got to, I think.'

He continued: 'But it's going to be hard if I go into a monogamous relationship. I live a life where I have a lot of freedom, so if I meet someone and I go, 'Right let's be monogamous', that's a f**king change.'

The couple wed in an intimate ceremony in India in 2010. Russell then filed for divorce from Katy in June 2011 after just 14 months of marriage. But he doesn't regret marrying the star – in fact – he says he 'loved it'.

He added: 'I tried it and I loved it. I really think [Katy's] a lovely beautiful person. It's just hard, isn't it? She's got a lot of options, I've got a lot of options, so you've got to really, really want it.'

Katy has had a high-profile on/off relationship with John Mayer for the lastyear. Pictures emerged earlier this week of what looked like John moving into Katy's new LA home, despite the fact they split months ago. She's also been spotted hanging out with Robert Pattinson.

When asked about the rest of his love life, Russell told the magazine: 'I've given over too much of my life to its pursuit. And I've probably harmed other people, by being selfish."

Just two months after the on-off-on couple split again, the pair were said to be flirting up a storm at a BBQ bash at Perry's new Hollywood home.

Robert Pattinson may not be as devastated about his recent break-up from Kristen Stewart as we initally thought. The Twilight actor has been spotted with the former couple's mutual friend Katy Perry... at a wedding rehearsal in Santa Barbara.

While the world weeps at the prospect of Rob walking down the aisle, it turns out that the stars probably aren't planning to tie the knot themselves (phew), but were in fact witnessing the rehearsal nuptials between two strangers.

Guest Stephanie Sands tells People.com: "Katy and Rob were just sitting next to each other watching the wedding rehearsal in the main courtyard area. They were dressed very casually.

"She was wearing a hoodie and big sunglasses. There was no PDA between them and no body language that showed they were dating. They just sat together and watched."

WHO ELSE HAS ROB BEEN HOOKING UP WITH IN HOLLYWOOD?

She added: "They were not affiliated with the wedding party and were not seen mingling with guests."

How bizarre. Affectionate or not, we can't imagine that Kristen will be too pleased with Rob's choice of company.

The rehearsal was taking place at the San Ysidro Ranch, which isn't far from where Katy grew up. So it sounds like the Wide Awake singer is attempting to take Rob under her wing and distract him from the break-up.

Last week, the actor was spotted moving out of the LA home he shared with Kristen following a rocky few months and according to sources, Katy thinks it's for the best.

A friend told Life & Style magazine last week: "Katy never really supported Rob's decision to get back with Kristen. She always said they wouldn't last.

"Katy told Rob she didn't think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal. And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert's]."

John Mayer confirmed he has parted ways with Katy Perry, revealing: 'Coupling is a tricky thing'

John Mayer put an end to weeks of relationship rumours in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last night, confirming his split with songstress Katy Perry.

The singer, who has remained decidedly quiet on the subject until now, branded his romance with Katy Perry 'very private,' but did say the two have parted ways.

Katy Perry, who was previously married to Russell Brand,and John Mayer, who has romanced Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpspon in the past, began dating in June 2012, before calling it quits, only to be reunited the following month.

So is this finally the end of the road for the pair?

Possibly not, according to friends.

Pals of Katy Perry and John Mayer say they wouldn't rule out the couple getting back together in the future.

'It’s more of a break than a break-up,' one source told Hollywoodlife.com. 'You’ll probably see them hanging out sooner then later and hooking up again.

‘They remain very friendly. She’s leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work.'

The hot 'n' cold pair were first spotted together in June before calling it quits in August, only to be reunited the following month, but alas it was not meant to be with numerous sources now confirming Katy and John's split.

'It's sad,' a source told Us Weekly. 'It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out,' while another source blamed the couple's busy schedules, saying, 'She's leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work.'

Singer John- who has previously dated Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift – recently said that their romance felt ‘human’.

He said: 'I don’t feel like I’m in a celebrity relationship. For the first time in my life I don’t feel like I’m in a celebrity relationship. I know it is high profile. It’s hard to explain ... For me it feels like something that’s very human.'

The 35-year-old also admitted that he had thought about marriage, revealing: 'Of course. I mean, I’m still the kid from Connecticut. That’s what you do.'

Katy Perry and Rihanna’s friendship has hit a rough patch, if recent reports that Katy put in a special request not be seated near Rihanna and Chris Brown during the Grammys are to be believed.

Reports of a rift between the former best friends initially emerged in October when Rihanna reunited with Chris Brown, who is currently on probation for an assault on the star in 2009. And such claims appear cemented after the events at the Grammys earlier this month.

The girls’ decision not to sit together as they had done previously is further proof things have fizzled out. A source told USmagazine.com: ‘They aren’t tight anymore because Katy doesn’t approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown.’

At this year’s Grammys Rihanna cuddled up to Chris Brown while Katy and her beau John Mayer sat elsewhere. The last time Rihanna and Katy were seen together was at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

Katy Perry could be adding another glittering gong to her collection as she’s reportedly a contender for an Oscar

Katy Perry may have made her name as pop's most colourful act, but it appears she’s a hot contender for an Oscar this year. Rumours are rife that her track, Wide Awake from her debut movie, Katie Perry: Part of Me will make the shortlist in the Original Song category at the Academy Awards.

KATY PERRY TO LAUNCH NEW LINE OF FRAGRANCES

The song was penned especially for Katy’s movie that documented her California Dreams tour as well as snippets of her relationship and subsequent break up from ex husband Russell Brand.

The full list of shortlisted songs will be announced on 10 January along with the rest of the Oscar nominations. If successful, Wide Awake is thought to be up against Adele’s Skyfall and Florence + the Machine’s Breath of Live.

Speaking about her hopes of an Oscar, Katy Perry told USA Today: ‘It’s like a dream’s dream. When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere.’

Katy Perry isn’t content with chart domination, she’s now set to take over the fragrance world as she unveils plans to launch a new line of scents, adding to her existing perfume portfolio of Meow! and Purr.

The new collection will be brought to beauty stores across the globe by perfume powerhouse, Coty, who are responsible for Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Chloe fragrances.

Speaking of the new venture Katy said: ‘I am honored to be working with Coty, which has produced some of my favorite fragrances.

‘I'm excited to share what's next in my perfumed world as well as making Purr and Meow! more accessible worldwide!’
