You may know Katie Holmes best for starring in Dawson’s Creek and going on to star in a handful of films such as The Secret – but the star's relationship with Tom Cruise was also highly publicised in the noughties. 

The mother-of-one was married to the Mission Impossible actor for six years before they divorced, and recently the unusual rule she had to follow when they split has resurfaced.

Tom, 60, who apparently hit it off with the Queen before she passed away, made a series of clauses in their divorce agreement which went on to affect Katie's future dating life, most notably with Jamie Foxx.

Katie, who is currently starring in Alone Together with Jim Sturgess, also shares a daughter Suri, 16, with the Top Gun actor. However, although the divorce wasn't publicly dragged through the court, Tom did have one stipulation when it came to Katie's future love life. 

"Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce," a source told RadarOnline.

"She's allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she's not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri."

It's unclear whether the agreement had something to do with his involvement with Scientology, but it meant that the star couldn't publicly talk about her relationship with Jamie Foxx for at least 5 years.

But, why would she agree to something that would basically mean she wouldn't be able to freely date anyone in public until at least 2017? 

The report explained: "Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms - and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself."

She finally revealed her relationship with Foxx in 2019 at the Met Gala, after reportedly dating him since 2013.

Tom is said to be single after breaking up with his girlfriend of two years, actress Hayley Atwell.

Wearing a head-to-toe look straight from the Louis Vuitton SS15 runway, Julianne made tricky opaque tights look effortlessly chic. Olivia Palermo nailed the tricky flared jeans trend last night at the Cinema Society screening of Katie Holmes’ new flick, Miss Meadows. Effortlessly chic and versatile, it’s a great look for day or night. And all topped of with a bang on-trend 70s-inspired suede clutch.

We interviewed Hollywood A-Lister Katie Holmes to talk keeping fit and red carpet prep.

1. Long hair is easy to style. As my hair has gotten longer it has become easier and easier to style. I use Alterna Caviar Repair Lengthening Elixir (soon to launch) which nourishes my scalp and prevents breakage which is when you’re trying to grow-out your hair and you’re avoiding having it cut so often.

2. When it comes to make-up, I know what works for me. I like to use a lot of browns or purples around my eyes and if I’m doing my make-up myself I usually go for a smoky eye and a nude lip. I rely on my Bobbi & Katie palette that Bobbi Brown and I created and I always use Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks, £19, and a Shimmer Brick, £32.50. It’s a classic look but I know it works and I can do it in five minutes.

3. I always have a good time on the red carpet. I leave my fate to the professionals. I work with great hair stylists and make-up artists and they know what they’re doing better than I do, so I just sit there excited that I get to work with them and let them do their thing. We try to have fun with the looks and take risks but it’s important that I still look like me.

4. I like to switch up my fragrances. I often use a different fragrance for different times. What I wear depends on the outfit I choose or the of the look. I tend to wear a lot of different Jo Malone London perfumes because they’re light and mix well with my own scent. I love them.

5. I do a lot of facials to keep my skin in good condition. I exfoliate and hydrate and I wear an SKII Facial Treatment Mask, £60 for 6, at night. I drink a lot of water and exercise to keep my skin in order. When I’m working and wearing make-up under light everyday, I do more facials just to clean-up the pores and keep it all going in the right direction.

6. I always travel with Alterna Bamboo Smooth Pure Kendi Treatment Oil, £20.50. After a long flight you can look a like a mess when you land and just a little bit of oil through my hair really calms things down. I wear my SKII mask as well during the flight. I probably get some funny looks but I’m usually napping so I can’t see them.

7. I started running three miles a day when I was ten years old. I’m a pretty active person in general, I like to do yoga, cycling and running and occasionally I’ll lift some weights because I know it’s good for women. But I try to be active every day and break a sweat.

8. It’s important to keep my hair in good condition. Fortunately I have always worked with really wonderful hair stylists on set and they’ve taken great care of my hair. When it was first announced in 2012 that the actress had teamed up with her stylist, Jeanne Yang, to create a fashion collection, we were optimistic. We admired her personal sense of style and had high hopes for the Holmes & Yang collaboration.

And when she debuted her collection at New York Fashion Week SS13, we were impressed. The simple, chic designs were clean and wearable. Could she be the next Victoria Beckham?

Sadly, no.

New York's Page Six has revealed that Katie's fashion line has ended due to 'interpersonal conflict.' A source reportedly told the mag: 'Jeanne enjoys the spotlight way more than Katie does. Things have definitely soured between them.'

Katie has yet to comment on the news, but a rep for Holmes & Yang did confirm that the collection is no more.

So it seems Katie's day in the fashion sun is over. But her daughter Suri is still a rising style star.

The 7-year-old trendsetter was spotted in New York yesterday afternoon wearing a chic faux fur coat and bright-pink leggings.

Katie Holmes turned up the sex appeal for the Donna Karan runway show on Feb. 10. Rocking a daring black leather dress with a completely see-through skirt, the mum of one looked a bit edgier than usual - though still totally glam and gorgeous.

When she stepped outsite Katie layered on even more leather, bundling up in a buttery motorcycle jacket.

To complement the sexy look, Katie, 35, rocked messy, just-rolled-out-of-bed waves and kept her makeup soft and natural.

But it wasn't just her appearance that left us happily surprised - it was the fact that Katie seemed to be cosying up to 23-year-old Rita Ora (who did her own, more obvious, take on the sexy LBD).

We have to admit, these two seem like an unlikely pair. But it would be kind of fun to see them sharing coffee dates and shopping sprees BFF-style.

Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes have hit the headlines again, as the Top Gun star talks for the first time about the couple's high-profile divorce.

In new revelations obtained by RadarOnline, Tom reportedly admits that Scientology did play a part in the couple's split in July 2012.

Filing a $50 million lawsuit against two US magazines over stories that claimed he had abandoned his 7-year-old daughter Suri, Tom has now spoken out about the split for the first time.

Tom is said to talk about Scientology, Katie and Suri in a 48-page transcription, in which he's questioned by the magazine's lawyers.

And the results are pretty surprising.

Grilled over his relationship with 7-year-old daughter Suri, Tom apparently confirms the accusations that he failed to see her for five months between June and November 2012.

The leaked documents are also said to discuss one occassion where Tom flew across the world to a Scientiology event, with which he is thought to say that he kept in touch via regular phone calls.

David Beckham's former BFF has kept a pretty low-key profile since the split last year, while Katie Holmes is thought to be gearing up for a role in 2014's bonk-buster, 50 Shades Of Grey.

Tom Cruise’s court case against In Touch and Life & Style for libel and defamation is expected to go to court next year.

Katie Holmes has got her eye on a racy role in the the film version of E.L. James' erotic bestseller 50 Shades of Grey, sources are claiming.

The 34-year-old face of Bobbi Brown is said to have set her sights on playing Christian Grey's long-term friend and former lover, Elena Lincoln, alongside Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan.

'She’s looking at this as the role of a lifetime for her,' a movie insider told National Enquirer. 'It will shock a lot of people, but she thinks Hollywood will sit up and take notice. She knows she has to reinvent herself.'

Since her divorce from A-list actor Tom Cruise last June, Katie has been working hard to get her career back on track - the former Dawson's Creek star has been busy in New York working on her Broadway play Dead Accounts, as well as filming parts for upcoming films Mania Days, The Giver and Miss Meadows.

The actor finally sets the record straight on the photo that sparked a thousand dating rumours…

Jamie Foxx has denied reports that he’s dating actress Katie Holmes after the pair were spotted getting cosy at the Night of Legends benefit in the Hamptons in August.

The 45-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight: ‘(The rumours) are 100 per cent not true.’

‘In fact it's quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people.’ 

Jamie and Katie, who divorced husband Tom Cruise in June 2012, first sparked rumours of a possible romance when they were photographed together at the 4th Annual Apollo in the Hamptons benefit in New York at the end of August.

An eye-witness said that Katie, 34, hit the dancefloor with Jamie when legendary rockers Lenny Kravitz and Bon Jovi took to the stage to perform American Woman, and was later seen sipping from Jamie's cocktail. 

As more photos surfaced of the flirty pair dancing closely to the sound of Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams’ Get Lucky, reports of a secret relationship unsurprisingly hit the headlines.

But now that Jamie’s set the record straight, it looks like mum-of-one Katie is officially single and ready to mingle. 

And with new speculation that the beautiful brunette may have her eye on actor George Clooney after attending his Gravity premiere in New York last week and reportedly enjoying a string of dinner dates with the handsome silver fox, there might be love in the air for Katie after all.

With a make-up line under her belt, Katie Holmes now wants to join the celebrity perfume bandwagon

Katie Holmes now wants to join the celebrity perfume bandwagon after getting creative at Bobbi Brown.

Since becoming the face of Bobbi Brown last year, Katie has now collaborated with make-up artist and founder of the multimillion pound beauty empire to create the 'quick fix' Bobbi & Katie collection, and has even hinted that a Katie Holmes eau de toilette may soon be on the cards.

The 34-year-old actress told Women's Wear Daily: 'I’m interested in doing a fragrance. We all need a little help smelling good, especially in summer in New York City!'

The actress-turned-model and make-up guru became the spokesman for haircare brand Alterna back in January, and is fast-becoming the beauty indudstry's go-to for celebrity collaborations. Bobbi Brown said: 'She really has a feel for what women want and need. She has a great eye for colour and design.'

The Bobbi & Katie make-up collection, set to hit select stores in September, will feature eye shadows, Pot Rouges and eye pencils in nudes and natural colours for busy women who want a ‘quick fix’.

But Bobbi is quick to insist that Katie is anything but down to earth. She says: 'I didn't hire a celebrity. I hired a woman who I think is really cool, who is down to earth, who sparkles when she enters a room, and she photographs really well.'

The collection will be followed by a skincare line and hopefully Katie Holmes' new spritz.

The seven-year-old has reportedly signed a deal to release her own clothing range for girls

Suri Cruise is set to follow in mum Katie Holmes' footsteps by launching her own fashion line – despite being just seven-years-old!

Reports surfacing today suggest that the tot and her parents have signed a bumper £1.5million deal to bring out a clothing range, which will be called Suri.

The cute youngster, who regularly tops best dressed kids polls thanks to her fun style, will launch her first collection for girls this autumn at a New York department store, according to The Sun newspaper.

It's understood that if successful, the Suri line, which will feature dresses, tops, jeans and accessories, will be rolled out across shops in the US next year.

A source told the paper: 'Suri is only seven but she is incredibly interested in clothes. She has been through a very difficult year and adapted amazingly to her new life in New York, including the upheaval of starting normal school.'

But it seems, unsurprisingly, that Suri won't be doing all the work on her own. Mum Katie and her stylist, Jeanne Yang, who founded their own label Holmes & Yang together, are also on board.

Tom Cruise has opened up for the first time about his shock split from Katie Holmes, admitting: 'I didn't expect it.'

It seems Tom Cruise was just as surprised as the rest of us when Katie Holmes suddenly filed for divorce last year.

During an interview on the German television show ProSieben, Cruise revealed that when Katie served him divorce papers just five days before his 50th birthday, he had 'an incredible amount of time to reflect'.

Their mutual friend, Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman, has spoken out to say that the pair are more than fine following their shock split last summer.

He told UsMagazine.com: 'They are incredibly happy. I've just been emailing with him (Cruise). He's coming back. He's shooting (All You Need Is Kill) in London and seems as happy as a clam. I know he sees his daughter.

Katie Homes grinned rather gorgeously last night for the opening night of her Broadway comedy, Dead Accounts.

After what appeared to be a successful show, the actress received her obligatory bouquet and took a bow, but her smile said so much more – she appeared thrilled with her performance.

And it wasn’t just her on-stage antics that brought a (semi) permanent smile to her face. After stepping out of her costume of jeans and a simple vest and cardigan, she glamed up beautifully for the show’s after-party

Katie wore a long sleeved scribble print dress complete with floral elements fighting off the chill with black tights. Her hair was worn long and loose with large curls tumbling over her shoulders. To pull the look together Katie added a woven yellow clutch.

Supporting her on the night were Twilight star Maggie Grace and Brooke Shields who also worked the red carpet. Tom Cruise is so famous he could bring an entire capital city to standstill and that he appeared to do this weekend in London. Although it was simply so he could continue filming All You Need Is Kill in Trafalgar Square.

Aerial shots show the famous London landmark looking like a set from a post-apocalyptic film. It was an eerie view as the usually bustling traffic was absent and there wasn’t a single person, or pigeon in sight.

That was of course until Tom appeared in military uniform and jumped out of a helicopter on to the set.

The actor plays Lieutenant Colonel who battles a group of aliens called the Mimics who want to take over the planet. To help him in his mission he’s joined by Emily Blunt who plays fellow fighter Rita Vratask.

It’s not been all work and no play for Tom though, he spent Thanksgiving with his youngest daughter, Suri. Determined to be reunited with her, the action star flew her to London from New York so they could celebrate together.

Cruise has been kept away from his daughter since July filming his latest blockbuster, All You Need Is Kill, in England, while daughter Suri has been living in New York with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

Cruise has had to miss out on special family moments with his daughter these past few months - like her first day of school and teaching her to ride a bike - and has been very eager to see his six-year-old, who reportedly jetted to England for Thanksgiving this week.

'Suri left Tuesday and will return Sunday to return to school on Monday,' a source told the Huffington Post. 'Tom and Katie agreed to this weeks ago.'

According to reports, Tom has also arranged for Suri to come to England for the Christmas holidays.

Meanwhile, mum Katie Holmes headed to her parents' house in Ohio for the celebrations and was spotted at LaGuardia airport Thursday morning.

The actress, who is currently appearing in the play Dead Accounts on Broadway, recently revealed her Thanksgiving plans on a US morning show:

'We have Thursday off, so I’m going to have a chance to go home with my family. My sister makes a really good sausage stuffing and my mom makes a great turkey.

'Many years ago, my dad started this tradition where we all do this run in the local park. It's a three mile run called the Turkey Trot. There's even a prize, which I haven't won yet. But it's really fun.'

Meanwhile, Cruise's son with Nicole Kidman, 17-year-old Connor, tweeted pictures from his Thanksgiving meal, including a shot of a massive turkey, writing:

Previews of her new play, Dead Accounts, were due to begin this weekend but have been pushed back to Monday due to the effects of Superstorm Sandy, and according to the LA Times, producers are offering ticket holders from the cancelled Saturday preview performance a sweet treat to make up for the missed show: a free pint of Graeter's ice cream, which is referenced in the play itself.

Katie recently told US Weekly that she is 'thrilled' about heading back to Broadway, and about tackling the role of Lorna:

'Finally I get to yell!,' she told the magazine. 'What I really loved about this character was she’s strong underneath it all. I like her values, I like that she’s trying to figure it all out and really cares for her family.'

New Yorkers are getting back on their feet after Hurricane Sandy devastated the city earlier this week, causing widespread flooding, shutting down airports and subways and leading to power outages around the city.

According to The Sun, Cruise and ex-wife Katie Holmes have come to an agreement that the actor will fly to New York from the UK - where he is currently filming his latest thriller, All You Need Is Kill - and jet Suri back to Blighty for Christmas, where he is looking to rent a big house in the Lake District or Scotland.

'By the time Christmas comes, Tom won’t have seen Suri for a long time,' a source told the newspaper. 'So he’s agreed with Katie that it’s only right she stays with him. Filming has been extended until after Christmas, so he will appreciate the break.'

It is thought Cruise's older children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, Conor and Isabella, will also be on hand for the festivities.

Tom has been facing some bad press over not seeing six-year-old Suri since July, when the two of them went to Disney World together, and his lawyers have rushed to his defence, explaining that 'he calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day.'

The actor is currently suing Bauer Media Group for $50million after US magazines In Touch and Life & Style ran a series of articles alleging that Cruise 'abandoned' his daughter and is no longer in her life.

Tom Cruise has filed a $50m lawsuit against an entertainment magazine publisher for articles that said he has abandoned his youngest child, Suri Cruise. The 50-year-old actor is suing Bauer Media Group, the publisher of In Touch and Life & Style magazines, for articles that claimed he had abandoned six-year-old Suri Cruise following his divorce from Katie Holmes.

The US magazines ran articles in July and September with the headlines 'Abandoned by Daddy' and 'Abandoned by her dad', with a source claiming that Cruise was no longer involved in his daughter's life.

Cruise's lawyer, Bert Fields, said the star does not like to file lawsuits, but the stories were a complete lie.

'I had tried and failed and failed and failed. Not to be too detailed, but I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I’ve had fertility treatments. I’ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try get pregnant.

'Every woman who has been through all those ups and downs knows the depression that comes with it.'

Nicole, who has two adopted children with Tom Cruise, Connor and Isabella, gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008, and admits that she was shocked when she managed to conceive.

'So the way it just happened with Sunday was like, "What?" The percentages were so low. It is the miracle in my life,' she told Who.

Yesterday saw Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang introduce their spring/summer 2013 collection with a small presentation made up of just 14 key looks.

Eschewing a catwalk, Holmes & Yang greeted editors and fashion journalists as they talked through the ideas and concepts behind their collection.

Explaining why she'd decided to give a simple presentation rather than out on a runway show, Holmes explained to WWD that a smaller setting suits the Holmes & Yang brand.

'We felt a presentation was more appropriate for the clothes we sell. It’s a little more our speed in the way we wanted to go about it, and more of a transition for us from meeting privately with buyers in a hotel room to going right to a big show,' she said.

The demure and simple looks - leather bomber jackets, blazers, camisoles and a hand-painted silk dress - are all made on US soil in either New York or Los Angeles and were teamed with Manolo Blahnik heels for the presentation.

Wearing a black leather jacket, black trousers and a crème camisole from the collection, Katie worked her way with ease through the first challenge that she's taken on post-Tom Cruise.

Katie Holmes opens up about fashion, failure and her feelings on the media in her first post-divorce interview.

The actress, and has just been named the first celebrity face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics (she will also collaborate on a makeup collection for the line), and has become an even more high-profile target since announcing her split from husband of five years, Tom Cruise, in June, told WWD:

'I have a lot of feelings about the press. There are a lot of people with much bigger problems and who are less fortunate. I try to keep it all in perspective.'

'I spray-paint shoe racks, because, why not?' she told WWD. 'I think, "Oh, I’m a great mom" - and then it doesn’t really pan out the way I think it’s going to. But the intention’s there. Tom Cruise looked to be back on top form, after his shock split from wife Katie Holmes, as he spent some time with friends on holiday in Croatia.

The actor, who's divorce from Katie Holmes was finalised just a few weeks ago, looked relaxed and happy as he posed with fans on the beautiful island of Hvar over the weekend.

Katie Holmes is back in the game!

Katie Holmes has followed in the statuesque footsteps of Tom Cruise's other ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, and splashed out on many, many pairs of high heels in the wake of their divorce.

On ending her ten-year marriage to Cruise, Kidman famously said that she was thrilled to be able to wear heels again. A sentiment shared by Holmes, if her latest shopping spree is anything to go by.

According to reports, Katie has marked her newfound single status by splashing out on 15 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels and dropping some serious cash on lingerie.

It's thought that the former Mrs Tom Cruise has spent 'around $14,200 (£8,900) on sexy lingerie and undergarments alone,' in an effort to overhaul her wardrobe.

'She went on a tear at Barneys New York department store, buying a closet's worth of clingy cocktail dresses and power suits to wear to auditions and meetings,' a source told The National Enquirer. 'Her attitude is: "Look out New York, Katie's back in the game!"'

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise spent some quality time in New York this weekend as the actress taught her daughter to ride her first bike

Katie Holmes looked on proudly as little Suri Cruise mastered the skill of riding her first bike over the weekend.

Katie spent some time with her six-year-old daughter in one of New York's parks as Suri got to grips with riding the cute pink bike during a playdate with friends.

Still with her stablisers on, Suri concentrated hard on the task at hand before Holmes scooped her up and carried her back to their NYC apartment.

It was announced last week that Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang will be going head-to-head with Michael Kors at New York Fashion Week in two weeks time.

Holmes & Yang will present their spring/summer 2013 collection during the same time slot as Kors on September 12.

Katie Holmes is to get $400,000 annual child support from Tom Cruise, but her prenuptial agreement means she will recieve no lump sum payout for herself, it has been revealed.

Katie Holmes has walked away from her marriage to Tom Cruise with 'next to nothing' thanks to a tight prenuptial agreement, according to reports.

The actress is excluded from any part of Cruise's $250 million fortune, but will recieve child support from her husband of five years.

Additionally both parties have agreed that Suri will not attend a 'residential (boarding) school', ending Katie's fears that her daughter would be sent to a Scientology school.

Cruise will also pay for Suri’s expenses, including any medical treatment, dental, insurance, education, and extracurricular costs, until her 18th birthday.

Cruise was reportedly left 'blindsided' when Katie served him with divorce papers last month, citing ' irreconcilable differences.'

In a joint statment released when their divorce was finalised, Tom and Katie said they are 'committed to working together as parents' for the sake of daughter Suri Cruise, who will reportedly remain in New York with Katie Holmes.

Less than two months after they announced their split, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's five-year marriage has officially ended

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' five-year marriage officially came to an end this week, just a month and a half after the couple's shock separation.

TomKat entered negotiations almost immediately after Holmes left Cruise 'blindsided' when she filed for divorce, but the couple have now reached a settlement.

TOM CRUISE REUNITES WITH SURI

In legal papers obtained by E! News, a New York judge signed off the final judgement granting Holmes primary custody of their six-year-old daughter, Suri, with Cruise getting extensive visitation rights.

A source close to Cruise tells E! News that the actor is pleased that he can now move on from the divorce.

'Tom is very happy and relieved that he is moving forward,' says the source.

'His priority is being a good father and this settlement will make sure that continues.'

The Hollywood super couple married in a lavish ceremony in Italy in November 2006 after meeting in April 2005.

Holmes and Suri will be living in New York while Cruise will split his time between there and Los Angeles.

It was another day and another fun NYC outing for Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise

Katie Holmes definitely isn't the sort of mother to plonk her child in front of the TV during the school holidays. Yesterday she treated her daughter to yet another fun-filled day out in New York City.

Katie and Suriheaded off to Make Meaning, an arts and crafts centre in Manhattan that holds classes and events for people to create jewellery, gift cards and candles.

The actress then took her six-year-old daughter for some sweet treats at the Two Little Red Hens Bakery.

Little Suriherself was happy playing mum as she cradled her doll to her at all times. So cute!

The day before,Katie and Suri had dressed up for afternon tea at their favourite eatery, Alice's Tea Cup, which is an Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant.

Fresh back from visiting Holmes' family in Ohio, the adorable duo dressed up as they took one of Suri's friends for the meal at Alice's Tea Cup.

Recent reports suggested that Katie was keen to take Suri back to Toledo, Ohio as Tom Cruise had always banned her from taking their daughter there during their marriage.

Sources close to the Top Gun actor have been quick to rubbish the rumours, saying any such claims are a 'gross lie.'

'To say Tom prevented anything is a gross lie. He not only didn't prevent [Suri having a relationship with Holmes' family] but encouraged it and paid for it!'

'The first several birthday parties Katie and Tom threw for Suri had the family and cousins come to town – all expenses were paid for by Tom.'
