Paris Fashion Week in the 90s was nothing like it is today. The front row wasn’t lined with phones, celebrities came through films and music rather than social media, editors didn’t have to speed-type online stories, and you could smoke inside—two of which I wish would come back. And yet, a small handful of things haven’t shifted at all: Kate Moss' regular appearance being one of them.

First on the Paris Fashion Week scene in 1993, the supermodel has spanned over three decades of events. But instead of walking every major runway—although she did put in a rather special performance for Gucci in Milan—Moss is now a mainstay on the front row. So far this week, we’ve spied her at Tom Ford and Saint Laurent, and we expect to see her again at favourites Chanel, Isabel Marant and more. Yet it’s her downtime wardrobe that’s commanding the most attention.

Towing the line between her two best-known aesthetics—bohemian and indie sleaze—the model’s effortless approach to dressing is hard to emulate, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try. Below, five looks I’ll absolutely start channelling, and I know I’m far from the only one.

Kate Moss has long been a boho lover, and it looks like she’s stepping back into her signature 00s style. Her exact dress is a vintage find, a 1970s Mayur style, which you can still find on sites such as Etsy and eBay. She paired it with lace-up ankle boots, what I’m confident in guessing is a large version of the Gucci Jackie bag, and a gold-tone beaded necklace that we’ve seen her style in a number of different ways this week. Proof, if ever you needed it, that a good accessory can go a long way in any wardrobe.

Grey skirt suit + purple shirt

Saint Laurent is well acquainted with ultra-polished, office-friendly outfits, and Kate Moss’s show look is no exception. Instead of a classic blazer and skirt set, however, she opted for a longer-length coat—something COS has a particularly great option for. A punchy purple shirt only leans the entire look further into the soft-rock aesthetic the supermodel is also famous for.

Black maxi dress + ballet flats

A black maxi dress is a failsafe item to pack in any suitcase—and a favourite among many of us for an easy summer outfit. Ballet flats, sunglasses and a black bag prove little is needed by way of styling, as Kate Moss so effortlessly shows. Note, too, her repeated use of the (presumed) Gucci Jackie bag and long gold necklace. Clearly, Kate is one to pack light and I applaud her for it.

Silver trousers + grey cardigan

Shimmery silver trousers, a maxi cardi and oversized hoops? This Kate Moss look may be my favourite of the week. Note how she’s played with proportions (especially when opting for a trending balloon trouser), yet still chosen an outfit that works for a wide range of occasions. Really, it nods to both boho and her soft-rock glam style in a way we can only hope to recreate.

Polka dot shirt + pencil skirt

Kate Moss has the rare ability to shapeshift into different aesthetics—a floaty bohemian dress one day and a polished pencil skirt the next—’tis the trait of a great model, after all. Personality comes through in the preppy polka-dot shirt, while the rest of the look is kept relatively classic, making it one to bookmark for office outfit inspiration.

By far the most hotly anticipated show of this Autumn/Winter 2026 edition of Milan Fashion Week? Gucci, of course—former Balenciaga designer Demna's first as artistic director of the storied Italian fashion house, given that he hosted a film premiere to tease his debut 'La Famiglia' collection in lieu of a traditional show last season.

And if already that was so impressively attended by Hollywood hot-shots, one need only imagine the levels of buzz and excitement surrounding what Demna might have up his sleeve for his official first on-schedule moment...

As ever, the Georgian designer delivered in the clout department—and some. For his AW26 Gucci show, Demna took over the imposing Palazzo delle Scintille in Milan, transforming the space into an imagined museum clad with luxurious marble and filled with specially-made replicas of ancient sculptures. The set served to emphasise Gucci's prominence within the Italian cultural canon.

As the designer explained in the show notes: "My vision of Gucci is about the coexistence of heritage and fashion. Here they are not opposites, they are lovers. Gucci only exists when both are in sync, when both nourish each other."

And the calibre of talent on the front row—and the catwalk itself—only served to emphasise his point. Demi Moore, Eva Herzigova, Isabella Ferrari, Romeo Beckham, Madeline Argy, Laura Harrier, Georgina Rodriguez and the Hilton sisters were all in proud attendance, alongside industry icons Donatella Versace, Alessandro Michele and Juergen Teller.

Meanwhile, some of the biggest models of the moment each took their turn on the runway, Emily Ratajkowski, Elsa Hosk, Karlie Kloss, Amelia Gray, Gabbriette and Alex Consani, included. The vibes? Dark, sexy, dramatic, a little bit nostaglic, and seriously Tom Ford-coded.

As for Demna's final, most fabulous flourish, and the ultimate expression of Gucci's star power? Kate Moss closing the show in a glittering black gown with a dramatic back cut-out that extended low enough to reveal a Gucci-logo-topped G-string—an homage to one of Tom Ford's most famous designs for the house, that felt every bit as iconic this time around.

Kate Moss turns 52 today, a fact that feels almost beside the point. Not because she looks implausibly young—though she does—but because she’s always existed outside fashion’s usual sense of time. Her style is not of the moment so much as gently brushing up against it.

What’s remarkable is not so much that Moss has been endlessly copied; it’s that she remains stubbornly uncopyable. There’s always the suggestion of a life being led; perhaps the hefty catalogue of Getty Images of her stepping out of (and falling into) taxis best encapsulates this. Kate Moss made messiness chic long before we had “indie sleaze” as a handy catchall term.

Now, at 52, Moss represents a kind of style freedom that feels raringly radical. In an era obsessed with maxxxing—sleep, skincare, workouts, and wardrobes—her refusal to explain herself (“never complain, never explain,” as her ex Johnny Depp is rumoured to have advised her) is the ultimate flex.

“If you know who you are, you can get through,” Moss has said, and maybe that unwavering commitment to being oneself is the real legacy. This is why Moss has endured while aesthetics churn. It’s the antithesis of popular unboxing videos on TikTok. These Birkins are not only handled with painstaking care but with protective gloves, presumably to avoid the kind of scratch that could knock value off their resale potential. Jane Birkin, however, would have disagreed and never treated her bag like it was a future collector’s item or potentially worth millions. We’ve seen the return of the blazer + skinny jeans combo, a featherlight sheer shirt that evoked Kate’s 1993 naked dress at an Elite Model Agency party, and twinning LBDs.

Now, as if to flex her own burgeoning supermodel superpower, Lila Moss has just replicated the ultimate off-duty model uniform. Trench coat + 90s jeans + loafers = the outfit every girl in London is about to wear on repeat.

You see, this week welcomes the beginning of March, which means we’re about to enter peak transitional dressing weather. It might not quite be time to vacuum pack all your heavy knits and faux fur coats, but lighter days, and lighter layers are on the horizon.

Lila Moss has signalled the start of this sartorial shift by stepping out in central London in that most timeless of trans-seasonal wardrobe staples: the trench coat. Sure, the style in question might be DKNY—for which she is the face—but the look was quintessentially London.

Cut from cotton-gabardine with a double-breasted front and a sash belt, DKNY’s trench has all the hallmarks of a wardrobe failsafe. It was layered over wide-leg jeans (also by DKNY) and a pair of classic loafers (like the Reformation pair Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid are so often spotted in). The outfit was light, cool, effortless—it was London in an outfit.

Fortunately, it’s also incredibly easy to emulate.

Stepping out of a black cab—very Rimmel ad circa mid-noughties!—Lila Moss styled a signature Kate Moss outfit formula: a perfectly tailored black blazer, slightly faded skinny jeans, and pointed pumps.

Moss (Kate, that is) has been championing this kind of sleek, rock ‘n’ roll-inspired ensemble for decades, seamlessly mixing androgynous tailoring (lest we forget her iconic take on YSL’s ‘Le Smoking’ suit in the nineties) with her trademark nonchalance.

While wide-leg denim has fashion in a stronghold, there have been murmurings of a skinny jean renaissance ever since Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, and Balenciaga put them on the Autumn/Winter 2024 runway. Moss, however, has always stayed true to her skinnies, and Lila’s nostalgic nod to her mum is further proof that the streamlined silhouette still holds its own in the turbulent fashion landscape.

Paired with her bedhead waves—another Kate Moss hallmark—and a slinky top (jeans and a nice top!), the outfit was a reminder that true style isn’t about following trends—it’s about knowing what works for you and owning it. The news that Topshop is coming back has sent millennials everywhere into a nostalgic frenzy. This week, my feed has been awash with archive looks from bygone Kate Moss for Topshop collections. Suddenly, my algorithm is spewing out indie sleaze-tinged outfits, boho dresses and an alarming amount of fringing. Like any self-respecting thirty-something millennial, I am revelling in this sudden flurry of early aughts nostalgia, but let’s be realistic, it would take more than Kate Moss and an as-yet-unconfirmed bricks and mortar Topshop store to save Britain’s High Street.

“I was heartbroken—as somebody who spent many a Saturday there—when Topshop left,” says Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London for the last eight years. We’re meeting on John Lewis’ rooftop to talk about his plans to regenerate the country’s most famous high street, and it turns out we have something in common.

Growing up in sleepy North Devon, London’s Oxford Street epitomised everything I felt deprived of—fashion, excitement, hustle and bustle. When I moved to London in 2010, Topshop was in its heyday, and Oxford Street felt like the epicentre of opportunity. This belief was confirmed when I got my first internship a year later at a PR studio on Margaret Street just behind Oxford Street where I was instructed to scuttle every day to get the owner a shot of wheatgrass and a single slice of apple from a long-since shuttered juice bar. However, 14 years later, I rarely find myself in this part of town anymore.

“If we're honest, over the last 10-20 years, this street looks tired,” Khan tells me. He plans to reform Oxford Street to its former glory (though he’s quick to point out his plans are about looking to the future rather than in the rearview) and make the 1.2-mile stretch to London what Times Square is to New York, La Ramblas is to Barcelona, and Les Champs-Elysées is to Paris. On my way to meet him, a gaggle of American tourists asked me which stop was “Oxford Circle”, which I took as proof that we’ve not quite reached world recognition.

However, being here on Oxford Street, I’m reminded that it once was the centre of the world—my world, anyway. I moved to London in the autumn of 2010 to study Fashion Journalism, three years after Kate Moss debuted her collection for Phillip Green’s high street giant, which my friends and I lovingly referred to as ‘Toppers’. I might’ve missed Mossy’s launch, but now that I was at last living in London, I vowed I’d never miss out again.

As a born and bred Londoner, Khan also has happy memories of Oxford Street in its heyday. As a teenager, he worked at Debenhams, Barretts and John Lewis and remembers the street as vibrant, thriving, and successful so he recognises the contrast today. “There are many stores that have left Oxford Street...I want really good retailers coming to Oxford Street.” Khan says pedestrianising is the way to lure people back. “All the evidence suggests a pedestrianised street, a well-designed street is safer, is greener, is healthier.”

Khan believes banning traffic will not only entice customers back, it’ll attract better retailers and leave fewer vacant stores - a “win win win”, as he puts it. As the father of two daughters, he’s felt the absence of the street's most-famous store—Topshop. For Londoners like myself, Topshop’s closure felt like the death knell for Oxford Street. Despite surviving the collapse of the high street which claimed scores of stores nationwide—including the tiny Topshop I shopped in as a teenager—Oxford Street has since been ravished by the rise of online retail, the pandemic, and years of austerity.

“Topshop was an extremely fun era for me,” remembers Anna Lowe, 35, who worked in the concessions part of the store from 2011-2012. She remembers that as a concession staff, she was looked down on by the “proper” Topshop staff which created a kind of Sixth Form environment. “The canteen area was super fun though, everyone was in their early twenties, and just there for fun,” adds Lowe.

Another Topshop staffer remembers it as a “weird place to work ‘cos one minute, you’d have Phil Green walking around, and other times you’d be like, ‘Oh, Beyonce came in yesterday.’” In today’s saturated retail market, it’s hard to imagine any one store having that much cache.

Born Londoner, Dee Corsi, Chief Executive of New West End Company, which is working with the Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) to revitalise Oxford Street, remembers the area as foundational growing up in the city. As the mother of a teenager, she understands that if shoppers like her daughter want something, they’ll just buy it online, so brick-and-mortar stores need to offer more than customers can already get online. “Immersive experiences” are what Corsi says stores need today.

Whether it was the mall culture of the 90s and noughties via films like Clueless and Mean Girls or the hype of limited-edition collections like Kate Moss for Topshop or H&M’s designer collaborations—which in its heyday saw shoppers camping overnight to get pieces from Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Versace and Marni—shopping has always been about the experience.

“As a child, my frazzled parents would spend Christmas Eve heaving my siblings and me onto the Victoria line to traipse around Hamleys and the Disney Store to make last-minute additions to our Santa lists,” remembers Jadie TroyPryde, 33, who grew up in East London. Later as a pre-teen on the hunt for silky cargo pants, CDs and corduroy baker boy caps, she’d drag her eldest brother around to be her shopping chaperone at Jane Norman and HMV.

Nowadays, TroyPryde says she rarely finds herself in central London, “and rarer still that I’ll do any shopping in real life.” But she hopes that her nieces and nephew “get to experience the magic of a sparkly Oxford Street pilgrimage.”

Saving money to spend on Oxford Street did feel like a rite of passage and one that has seemingly been passed down. After I met the mayor, I ambled through Oxford Circus and saw hordes of teenage girls marching towards Bershka and Stradivarius, ironically, probably looking for silky cargo pants and bootcut jeans.

Fashion might be enjoying a love affair with all things nineties and noughties, but it’s hard to imagine Oxford Street ever again pulling in customers as it did when I first moved to London in 2010. On the other hand, I worry about the safety of girls if the area is to become pedestrianised. As a woman, I feel safer in areas with traffic. Buses and taxis are not only crucial for those with disabilities, they provide light—and if needed—an escape. The threat of Oxford Circus becoming a ‘no-go zone’ has been put to Khan before. To this he says; “I don't think crime is inevitable. I think crime is preventable.” The issue of violence against women and girls is a huge source of concern to him, both as a father and as a mayor. He says he’s spoken to the home secretary Yvette Cooper, and he’s “excited at the government's plans and its mission to reduce violence against women and girls over the course of the next few weeks, months and years.”

On a practical level, Khan plans to support the police and make sure there’s good CCTV, well-designed streets, and well-designed shops. For Angela Rayner’s part, not only is she backing Khan’s plans, but she’s pledged to halve violence against women and girls within a decade as part of the new Labour government’s manifesto. They’re ambitious plans, and as a woman and a Londoner, I’m rooting for both of them, but with gender-based violence now a nationwide epidemic and 3352 reported crimes in London’s West End in the most recent month, according to The Met’s Crime Map, it’s hard not to feel fearful for the next generation of girls being enticed by the soon-to-be no so bright lights of Oxford Circus, especially if the ultimate teenage shopping haven does make its long-awaited return.

Lila Moss has admitted one of her most prized possessions is a polaroid photo of her with her mum, Kate Moss, as a baby.

The 19-year-old model takes the sentimental picture with her everywhere she goes, and is one item that will always be in her bag.

The style icon revealed the contents of her bag in Vogue's In The Bag Youtube series, in which she shared all her essentials - one being the heartwarming mum and daughter snap.

Holding the photo in view of the camera, you can see supermodel cradling her baby.

Lila said: " I think this was on my mother's 30th birthday, I could be wrong but I look quite young and she looks ready to go out. I think it's really cute."

Though Lila metaphorically takes her parent with her everywhere she goes, in the form of the photo, she wishes she could be with her mum physically all the time, so she is always on hand with advice.

She added: " If I could fit one person in my bag it would probably be my mum, she's fun and good at advice so I could ask her anything."

Lila shared with Vogue she is moving out of her North London home she lived in with her mum for many years, and will spending more time at her dad Jefferson Hack's home in Islington.

Though she will remain in London, the prospect of leaving the family home she grew up in is upsetting.

Speaking to the magazine, she said: "We’re really close. Our big thing is playing cards together – I usually win. I’m liking being at his house. And I’m excited for the change. But yeah, moving out was sad."

"I used to have an amazing view from my bath in Highgate…", Lila gushed about the Grade II listed building before she got choked up.

But Lila too was "protective" of her supermodel mum

Kate Moss boasts an impressive career at the helm of the fashion industry, which spans over three decades.

However, the 48-year-old supermodel wasn't fond of the idea of her daughter Lila, 19, following in her footsteps.

Speaking to British Vogue, Lila - who was signed to her mother's modelling agency, Kate Moss Agency, and landed her first campaign with Marc Jacobs at 15 - said: "My mum always put me off [modelling]. She was always like, ‘If you wanna do it, you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it.’

"When I was younger she was scared that I’d fall into the same trap, I think.”

But Lila is used to the attention, which she witnessed first hand being side by side with her mum, and believes she has learnt how to cope with all aspects of fame.

She continued: "I’ve seen it first-hand, so I’m much more able to cope with it. I’ve had to say no to people. But I’m always nice!"

While Kate is only wants the best for her daughter and is wary of her safety, Lila is also "protective" over her parent. She recalled days when she was a child being papped when out with Kate, or friends would question her on the fashion icon.

She said: "[Lila was eight] when I realised the paparazzi thing, that they were interested in her, for some reason. Then I went to secondary school and everyone was like, ‘Oh, your mum’s Kate Moss!’ You don’t really have a filter when you’re that young and I was like. 'How do you know who she is? She’s old! She’s old and boring!'

“I was quite protective over my mum. All my mum’s friends say that I was so scary as a child. I was quite serious. But also, I would always copy her. She would always have her head down and not look at the camera, so I’d always put my head down and not look at the camera. I still do it.”

Despite slamming Kate as "old and boring" when she was younger, she has grown to appreciate her mum, and her style, more now she is older, as the two even share clothes, with Lila lending Kate's Chanel handbags and YSL coats, while Kate opts for Lila's loungewear.

“In the last three or four years, I’ve realised that her style is actually really cool. I’m having to admit it now. She doesn’t have a good trackies selection. She only has pyjamas. She probably would hate me saying that. She doesn’t want anyone to know she wears trackies", mused Lila.

With every celebrity wedding, there seems to be a corresponding split. Following the news that Diana Agron has tied the knot with her rockstar beau Winston Marshall, we learn that Kate Moss has reportedly split from her aristocratic boyfriend, Nikolai von Bismarck.

The supermodel-turned-business-mogul, who has been dating the Count since last year, is said to have ended the relationship, The Sun reports.

Kate reportedly spent the summer in Greece and Bali with Nikolai, and the pair were subject to many-an-engagement rumour of late as well, as tabloid reports claimed he gave her the massive sapphire ring she wears on her ring finger.

News of the couple's alleged split comes just days after the model's divorce from ex-husband of four years Jamie Hince was finalised last week.

Earlier this year, Kate shocked the fashion industry when she announced that she would be leaving her agency of 27 years, Storm Models, to set up her own talent agency. Having launched The Kate Moss Agency this month (and a Kate Moss Agency Instagram account), it looks like the remainder of the year is set to be a busy one for the supermodel.

BOF recently reported that she also plans to expand her lifestyle brand with a string of new collaborations and projects, set to roll out later this year. Exciting stuff!

Current creative director Riccardo Tisci has re-invented the house for a new generation, embracing modern-day A-listers from reality queen Kim Kardashian to Beyoncé, even making Kim's wedding gown when she married Kanye West in 2014.

Riccardo champions a fiercely glam look, often adding design touches like leather strapping and metal studs to the house's dramatic silhouettes. He's also all about street style, and caused a surge in demand for couture sweatshirts when he joined the house back in 2005.

'Givenchy is obviously a couture house,' he told CNN Style. 'I've brought the couture to the street and street style I've made more couture. That's what made me different. I was one of the first ones to bring back the sweatshirts, the trainers and make them more Givenchy, more luxury.'

On the runway, Gisele, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and more have all modeled for the house, with the new generation of Insta-girls (Hi Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and co) following in their footsteps today.
