Now that all of those acting prizes have been handed out, it’s time for the second most important awards ceremony of Oscars night – the best dressed list.

Yes from Alicia Vikander’s oh so Belle bubble hem, to Jennifer Lawrence’s barely there lace look, there were so many fashion talking points on the red carpet - and you can bet your Dior that the high street will be following suit, very, very soon.

Here are the looks that everyone is talking about from the Oscars 2016...

Call It Spring Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, Emily Blunt, Heidi Klum… a whole host of starlets worked frothy dresses in pastel colours on the red carpet last night, declaring the spring fashion season to be officially open. Best Supporting Actress Alicia’s custom Louis Vuitton number was the one that divided fashion critics on the night, and takes home our virtual prize for 'biggest style statement' thanks to those silver embellishments and that asymmetric bubble hem.

Forest Green Rachel McAdams looked slinky in an emerald August Getty halter, putting rich greens on our red carpet colour radar. Our best dressed of the whole shebang, however, was without doubt Saoirse Ronan, who looked absolutely stunning in her sparkling slip dress by Calvin Klein Collection.

All Black Everything From Kate Winslet’s foil Ralph Lauren confection, to Julianne Moore’s shimmery Chanel drama, a lot of stars chose to wear all-black gowns. Jennifer Lawrence even did the double, starting her night in a degrade Dior couture lace look and hitting the Vanity Fair after party in a slick bralet and slit skirt combo.

Midnight Drama Is it royal blue, is it Cadbury purple? We’re not quite sure, but Brie Larson, Reese Witherspoon and more chose this stand-out colour, all with a hint of a ruffle. Mindy Kaling, we think, nails it in this off-shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy dress.

Blush Up  The hottest hues to be seen in at this year’s Oscars after-party? Reds and pinks, of course. Slip dress silhouettes ruled throughout the evening, but we love Brie Larson's blush velvet goddess gown the most, best accessorised with a little gold man.

Hot Metal They may not have taken home any actual silverware, but this bunch were all style winners in high-shine gowns. Elaborate draping proved key to pulling off this fabric trend - or as our pick of the bunch, Selena Gomez, proves, you can say it with sequins.

If you were nominated for one of the most famous prizes in the world, how exactly do you think you would react? As this year’s Oscar nominations were announced yesterday, the chosen ones (from Leonardo DiCaprio to Jennifer Lawrence) have been expressing their joy in all kinds of ways.

These are the best reactions and statements from the stars so far. ‘Holy shit!’ indeed, Brie Larson…

Leonardo DiCaprio, up for Best Actor in The Revenant takes a humble approach, thanking the cast and crew who worked with him; ‘Making The Revenant was one of the most rewarding and collaborative experiences of my life,’ he says in a statement. ‘None of this would have been possible without Alejandro's talent, vision and determination. Our dedicated crew also deserves to share in this moment. Together, they have created a truly unique cinematic experience.’ Very nice Leo.

Lady Gaga, whose song 'Til It Happens to You’ is nominated for Best Original Song, uses her powers for good; ‘This nomination lends a voice to so many victims and their families around the world,’ she writes on Instagram. ‘Thank you to The Academy for recognising the movement of people who have come together around ‘The Hunting Ground’ and ‘Til It Happens To You’ in the name of sexual assault. Diane Warren and I are simply honoured to represent the voices of so many survivors.’

Jennifer Lawrence, up for Best Actress for Joy, says she’s super grateful; ‘I am beyond grateful and humbled by this nomination. I feel incredibly honoured to be recognised among the other amazing women in this category. Joy is an incredibly inspiring story about an ordinary woman who does extraordinary things. For me, working with David O. Russell has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I share this nomination with him as well as our incredible supporting cast. I could not be more proud to be a part of this film and thankful to the producers and Fox for their unyielding support.’

Saoirse Ronan, nominated for Best Actress for Brooklyn, admits to some tears; ‘I was asleep and my mom ran in and she was crying, and so it was either good news or bad news, and it was great news,’ she told Good Morning America. ‘I'm going to start crying now, but to get Best Actress and to get Best Picture means the absolute world to us.’

And then Brie Larson, nominated for Best Actress for Room, loses it completely, and says what all the other nominees were really thinking; ‘I thought, Holy shit! It's that mixed with a total flat line,’ she says in an interview with E! News. ‘I didn't realize how strong my reaction would be. My whole body was shaking. I started crying. It really was when they gave [Lenny Abrahamson] a best director nomination that I really lost it. He's so deserving of it. So well deserved and so exciting to see.’

And then later in an interview with Good Morning America… ‘I'm shaking right now. I'm really confused. It's the highest form of flattery in my field. The nominations mean so much because it comes from your peers, it comes from fellow actors. I was home-schooled and I never really felt like I was part of any group. To be included with people that I respected so much since I was a kid is just absolutely incredible.’

Ever wondered what makes an Oscar winner’s gown so, well, Oscar worthy?

Ever wondered what makes an Oscar winner’s gown so, well, Oscar worthy? Whether there’s a winning formula that only certain stylish actresses know about? Whether there’s a lucky colour or silhouette to be wearing, or if one designer name manages to dress more winners than anyone else?

As the 2016 Oscar nominations are announced, with Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Lawrence front runners for the coveted Best Actress prize, we’re getting ready to place our bets on who will wear what this awards season.

And now we can make some slightly more educated guesses than before. You see a rather gorgeous infographic, created by the Big Group, allows you to browse sketches of every dress worn by an Academy Award winning Best Actress, sorting styles by date, designer, or colour.

With an overview from 1929 to now, it paints a pretty nice picture of what’s worked, style-wise, for the winners and also is a lovely way to track changes in the fashion silhouette throughout the decades.

So what should this year’s winner go for? Well for the last six years (including last year’s winner Julianne Moore, who’s not yet in the graphic) it’s been all about the hemline. From Sandra Bullock’s 2010 Marchesa confection, to Jennifer Lawrence’s now-iconic 2013 Dior, a light swoosh of volume at the hem has proven to be the mark of a sartorial winner.

Natalie Portman, who won wearing Rodarte in 2011 and Helen Mirren, who wore Lanvin in 2012, both added some goddess draping into their fashion equations, so that, too, could be in the recipe for success.

Throwing it back to some of Hollywood’s original leading ladies, and a sensible skirt suit, often with a contrasting sailor collar, was the look du jour. We love Bette Davis’ Orry-Kelly dress from 1936, and Janet Gaynor’s off-the-rack ensemble from 1929 would have been sooo ahead of its time.

Experimentation was, clearly, everything in the Eighties and from Cher’s winged naked dress, to Jodie Foster’s flared-back, off-the-rack statement, more was definitely more on the red carpet.

As for the designers to watch, Dior is a clear winner having dressed three best actresses over the years, while Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy have each dressed two.

A lot of stars (and their stylists) lose sleep over what to wear on the big night – with all the attention on you, it must be kinda like shopping for a wedding dress, non? So, to the next nominees, study our analysis and study it hard. That dress could be a career-maker, don’t cha know?

The Rise Of The Mini-Cape Last year’s obsession with smooth column gowns received an unexpected reboot for 2016, as stars from Cate Blanchett to Jennifer Lopez added mini capes and peplum layers into their silhouettes. Not to be confused with the awful bolero jackets of yesteryear, these topper-uppers came in crisp structured fabrics and, as one fashion commentator, Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine commented, look slightly vagina-like in their ruffled formations. We see. Well, if JLo's rocking one...

White Hot Fact; All the rising star actresses wore white. Three of our favourite looks of the night came courtesy of Alicia Vikander, Saoirse Ronan and Lily James, who each wore a totally not bridal, pure white gown. Saoirse and Lily both went with a maxi-take on that caped silhouette, while Alicia’s Louis Vuitton number was spliced to ribbons. Dreamy.

Abs Fab Sweet holy abs. Kate, Brie and Jennifer must have put in hours of effort at Barry’s Bootcamp over Christmas to pull of these silhouettes of steel. Best actress winner Miss Larson looks statuesque herself in trophy-like Calvin Klein, while Kate Hudson’s Michael Kors collection column dress is diced into three pieces – a long skirt, a bandeau crop top and a Seventies choker, too.

Blush Up Pick a shade, any shade…From soft pink to scarlet, the hue to be seen in this Golden Globes was rose. Our favourites range from Marie Claire’s February cover star Amber Heard, wearing fairytale Gucci couture, to Kate Bosworth in sparkling Dolce and Gabbana.

Midnight Hour Always a winner in our eyes, the most fiercely glam of all red carpet trend concepts is to dress like a starry night’s sky. Julianne Moore’s slinky Seventies vibe (courtesy of Tom Ford) and Viola Davis’ Marchesa number are clear winners, plus bonus points to Melissa McCarthy who designed her own gown for the do.

We think that Jennifer Lawrence is going to win an Oscar again – and so will you when you watch the trailer for upcoming film, JOY.

The film is based on the life of Joy Mangano, an inventor, and the trailer - set to the Rolling Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want - also sees J-Law and Bradley Cooper reunited on screen for a fourth time. *Excitement levels now officially at an 11 on the 1-10 scale*

The flick is directed by David O. Russell, who, as you may well remember, was the brains behind two other Lawrence-Cooper blockbusters – Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle – so expect more clever, quirky and offbeat themes in this new film. Plus, the three are also reunited with fellow Silver Linings alumnus Robert De Niro, too.

Jennifer Lawrence has got a lot of time for Taylor Swift – which obviously, we totally agree with, because Taylor is all types of brilliant.

But imagine being so close to Taylor that you could phone her up and call her a “badass bitch”? Obviously, that’s something that we want to do, too…

Jen was speaking to Extra at Comic-Con when she was asked about winning the “gender wage gap fight”.

That was a reference to the one tiny weeny time that Jen called out her bosses after it emerged in leaked emails that she was being paid less than her male co-stars on American Hustle – which she was nominated for an Oscar for.

Jen then asked for a pay rise in line with the men – and is now commanding £13 million per film. Go Jen!

Jen previously said: “If you're doing the same job, you should be compensated and treated in the same way.”

But Jen was modest about her achievement – and even name-checked Taylor for her recent calling out of Apple Music.

“Taylor Swift is a badass,” she said. “That letter that she wrote about Apple, I texted her and was like, ‘You is a badass bitch.’ She's awesome.”

Jen was referencing Taylor’s groundbreaking open letter to Apple – who had initially refused to pay artists for the first three months of its new music streaming service.

Taylor wrote:

“These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child… these are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much.

“Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation.”

The music giant then backed down and agreed to pay artists for their music straight from the word go on their new service.

2. Trans-Everything Transgender, transracial… the biggest talking point of the year is equality and the overall message of summer 2015 is to be whoever you want to be and just own it. We like this very much.

3. Squads If you’re not now referring to your clique as your ‘squad’, then you’re clearly not following enough Delevingnes or Jenners on Instagram. Below is a fine example of one such squad, headed up by Taylor Swift and including everyone from Serena Williams to Emma Watson. We love girl power.

4. Minions Who even knew that those little yellow critters were so, well, business savvy? Minion yellow is an official Pantone colour, Kevin and Bob are now fashion designers and Harper Beckham has added to dad David’s tattoo collection with the below stick on / scratch off number.

Chopstick Walruses When Jennifer Lawrence emerged from dinner with her friends in New York last week she simply did what any of us would when confronted by a paparazzi pack - she did a chopstick walrus. Her adoring fans have since taken to Insta in their hundreds to honour her goofiness, making chopstick walruses one of our favourite emerging trends of the summer. When it came to her hair, Jennifer picked a suitably chic style she knew would set off her outfit perfectly. The Oscar winner curled her long golden locks before leaving it to fall freely around her shoulders.

She was actually making her way to a VIP night to mark the new exhibition for The Hunger Games at Discovery in Times Square. The event opens to the public in July.

Jetting in from LA earlier that day with her oh so cute dog Pippi, Jennifer is taking a break between filming schedules for the next instalment of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Switching from turned-up jeans and Vans to a flared white summer dress for dinner, we were starting to think that she might actually be just like us. Then we spotted that new season Diorama bag on her arm and we were reminded once again that she’s not our actual BFF. Yet.

The actress has signed up to star in Passengers alongside the Jurassic Park hunk.

It looks as though Jennifer Lawrence has a pretty big pay day coming up.

If reports are to be believed, the actress - who was propelled to fame playing protagonist Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games - is set to net a huge $20 million for her role in upcoming movie Passengers.

She's also in line to scoop 30% of profits when the film breaks even.

Although this in itself is quite amazing, the more interesting news, however, is that Jennifer will earn $8 million more than her male co-star.

Chris Pratt was initially told he'd bag $10 million, but it's been said that bosses have upped his rate to $12 million due to the box office success of his latest flick.

This isn't particularly surprising seeing as Jurassic World - in which Chris portrays dinosaur trainer Owen Grady - grossed a staggering $500 million worldwide on the first weekend of its release.

The plot for sci-fi drama Passengers will follow the story of a spaceship transporting thousands of people to a distant planet. One of the men onboard wakes after a malfunction occurs with one of the craft's sleeping chambers.

When faced with the prospect of living and dying alone, he decides to wake a second passenger.

This isn't the first time issues regarding Jennifer's Hollywood pay packet have made the headlines.

An emailed leaked during last year's Sony hack revealed that the 24-year-old had taken home a lower rate than both Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper for American Hustle.

The message stated that Jennifer was paid 7% of the film's profits, while Christian and Bradley received 9%. Amy Adams, who also starred in the Oscar-nominated movie, also scooped 7%.

With the 2015 MET Gala upon us and, in her first year as co-chair, all eyes were on Jennifer Lawrence last night, as she tackled the fashion world's most prestigious red carpet challenge. Nodding to the annual theme gracefully is no mean feat (this year's subject was China: Through The Looking Glass) and, as we know how much she loves a photobomb, it may have proved difficult for the charismatic star to be on her best red carpet behaviour.

The first of many Dior looks mentioned on this list – Jennifer is the face of the brand’s handbag line – and perhaps her most famous off-screen look thanks to the graceful fall she took while climbing up a pesky set of stairs to receive her Oscar for Best Actress in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook.

2. Cropped hair, don’t care. J.Law takes on the 2014 Golden Globes red carpet in another big skirted, strapless Dior frock, this time with black bands around her waist and hips. In true Jennifer fashion, the actress spent her time on the red carpet photo-bombing friend and fellow gown wearer Taylor Swift having a nice, civilized chat with Ryan Seacrest.

3. Taking some time out from Dior, Jennifer wore pale pink Prada to the 26th Annual PGA Awards earlier this year. Looking every bit the prom queen with sequin embellishments, her back on show and some softly curled waves in her hair. We’d vote her to be our prom queen.

Rihanna Perhaps unsurprisingly, the new face of Dior chose a Dior dress for her first major film premiere as the lead voice in new Dreamworks animation, Home. What was surprising, however, was that Rih Rih went positively Hepburn on us in this ladylike satin dress with just a hint of delicate embroidery.

Jennifer Lopez J-Lo channels Frozen's Elsa as she takes children Max and Emme to the premiere of the next kiddy blockbuster, Home. Diamante smattered accessories and perfect blonde barrel curls complete her princess look. All hail. 

Jennifer Lawrence Now this is what we call a Saturday night party frock. J-Law looks ready to hit the dance floor in this sparkly little Dior number (see actual pictures of her doing the robot in the gallery above..!) The cut-out sides and midriff clasp detail make us actually think she could have just shimmied in off of some sort of Strictly show, and onto the red carpet.

Word on the street has it that Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse have split after two years.

After Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, Serena is the third major film Bradley and J-Law have starred in together. What's the secret to their lasting friendship? 'No sex,' according to Jen.

Jennifer Lawrence is a secret reality TV addict...

When Jennifer Lawrence met Kim Kardashian West, she did what any self-respecting Oscar-winning actress would do… she screamed at her.

‘I was in NYC and I ran into Jennifer Lawrence,’ Kim told The Sun at a press conference. ‘We said, 'Hi' and walked into the elevator and as the doors were closing. She screamed across the lobby, 'I love your show!' We were laughing so hard.’

The revelation has all the markings of classic J-Law behaviour – she’s previously admitted to being a reality TV junkie who binge watches Kim and her family’s show on a regular basis.

‘When I'm out, I think about my couch. Like, 'It would be awesome to be on it right now. I bet there's an episode of Dance Moms on. Am I missing a new episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians?’ she told Marie Claire South Africa.

‘I'm just stressed by the idea of missing them. At the end of the day there's probably nothing that makes me feel better than junk food and reality TV.’

And Jen’s not the only award-winning, serious actor to admit to a trash TV addiction. She recently quizzed Oscar hopeful Eddie Redmayne on his favourite shows (for Interview magazine) and discovered that the pair have a lot in common.

‘I come home from trying to pretend to know about astronomy and physics all day and turn on The Real Housewives,’ Eddie admitted to Jennifer. ‘I've been a closet lover of faux-reality TV since The Hills. It's bad.’

‘I feel like I'm going to cry,’ she responded. ‘We're making a breakthrough. I went to Pump the other night to meet [Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star] Lisa Vanderpump. I had her sign a bottle of vodka, and when she gave it to my friend who was with me at the Oscars, my friend said, 'Jennifer, this is so much better than the Oscars!' We took so many pictures with her.’

‘I'm a bit vintage,’ Eddie continued. ‘I go back to The Hills. Occasionally Audrina [Patridge] or Whitney [Port] will be on a website that I shouldn't be looking at, and I'm like, 'You know, I just want to check that they're doing all right, because it's my youth…' And the depressing thing is that it's not my youth. I was too old to be watching those programmes when I was watching them.’

‘MTV sometimes plays them for, like, three hours,’ Jennifer added. ‘And that will just turn into my morning. Like, I'll cancel shit.’

Keira Knightley Nailing not one, but two stunning ensembles, Keira’s first outing was at the Producers Guild Awards in kaleidoscopic Chanel (below). For Sunday’s SAG awards (above) she raised the bar again, donning a plum lace Erdem gown like no maternity wear we've ever seen before. Offsetting the pretty dress with smokey eyes and an edgy diamond ear cuff, Keira proved that she really is going to be the best-dressed mum ever.

Jennifer Lawrence  Stop the press - Jennifer is wearing Prada. Yes, the Dior devotee has quit her habit, introducing new labels into her wardrobe for, we think, the first time ever. Attending the PGAs, Jennifer chose a dress with a similar construction to Rosamund Pike’s Vera Wang number at the Golden Globes, but the chain mail panelling gives it some much-needed structure. Maggie Gyllenhaal We think character Nessa Stein would be proud of Maggie’s choice – a sleek and minimal Thakoon column gown.

We’re not quite sure how, but Katie Homes was looking younger than ever as she turned out in New York last night for the screening of her new film, Miss Meadows. Wearing her hair in a fresh top-knot and showing off her bronzed pins in a white mini dress, our attention is fixated on that on-trend length of her luxe leather jacket.

When not on the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay tour, Julianne Moore is promoting her next new film ‘Still Alice’ starring alongside Kristen Stewart. Wearing a head-to-toe look straight from the Louis Vuitton SS15 runway, Julianne made tricky opaque tights look effortlessly chic. We’re crushing on her tossled waves and cool accessories- especially those fab red monogrammed ankle boots. We die.

Olivia Palermo nailed the tricky flared jeans trend last night at the Cinema Society screening of Katie Holmes’ new flick, Miss Meadows. Effortlessly chic and versatile, it’s a great look for day or night. And all topped of with a bang on-trend 70s-inspired suede clutch.

Proving her leading lady credentials, Jennifer Lawrence made a dazzling appearance at the world premiere of ‘The Hunger Games; Mockingjay: Part 1’ in London’s Leicester Square last night.

The actress led the star-studded cast, which included Julianne Moore, Natalie Dormer and Lorde (the girl responsible for the soundtrack) in an off-runway Dior gown.

The ever-so elegant light blue quilted dress with stepped hem brought some serious wow-factor to the evening and rightly so made J-Law the star of the night.

Special mention must go to Jennifer’s cute back-combed up-do and serious finger bling which added a serious cool factor to the elegant look.

Beautiful and sophisticated, Jennifer nailed the elusive balance between being grown-up without being stuffy, and feminine without being boring.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, J-Law then slipped into a custom-made Mugler dress for the after-party. Deep neckline, thigh-high split and sleek metal detail. What’s not to love?

With more premieres in the coming weeks, we can safely bet J-law is going to wow every time.

Beloved by Jennifer Lawrence and Nicole Richie, here are 5 reasons why monochrome is the trend to wear this party season...

Judging by this weekend’s red carpets, the monochrome trend is here to stay. The black-and-white look has been a key player on the catwalks for a couple of seasons now, and quite frankly we never tire of it.

The most classic of colour combinations is like the trusty friend you can always rely on. And in all fairness, it’s pretty easy to pull off, too. So with a marathon of Christmas parties on the horizon, something effortless and fail-safe seems like a bit of a no-brainer.

And proof, were it needed, that this is the bona fide trend of the season came this weekend when Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpet at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ photocall wearing a white trouser suit and black cami. Contrasting against the power prints worn by her co-stars, J-Law made a bold statement in the most minimalist of get-ups.

The Hunger Games star wasn’t the only celeb nailing the mono trend this weekend. The MTV EMA red carpet was awash with black and white ensembles with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande all playing it down in elegant mono pieces. But it was Jourdan Dunn who stole the show with her high-impact white Little White Dress and later shaking things up with a shimmering black maxi – only a super could do two great looks in one night.

And the A-list monochrome love-in didn’t end there. Nicole Richie went all white in an H&M column dress topped off with a floor-length white cape and, of course, every girls favourite accessory, a dapper husband dressed in head-to-toe black.

Earlier in the week, movie royalty Anne Hathaway offered up a heavy dose of styling inspiration in her cute leather Valentino dress and embroidered heels and in doing so, gave a masterclass in how to switch-up the most simple of monochrome looks.

Further proof that monochrome is the perfect base for bold accessories, Karolina Kurkova opted for a racy sports-luxe dress with a killer pair of heels. Never one to let us down in the accessory department, Karolina opted for a stand-out pair of Giuseppe Zanotti mesh heels which took the moncohrome look to new levels.

As Marvel announce a new female Thor comic, we ask who could play her in the inevitable movie...

In one of the best girl-power news stories of the week, Marvel Comics has announced that one of its most popular characters, Thor, God of strength, will be reincarnated as a woman in a new cartoon series this October.

Jason Aaron, Marvel series writer, was keen to make it clear to fans that the new Thor is not a secondary character, or spouse to the original.“This is not She-Thor," he said. "This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.”

Initial artworks dress our new heroine in an SS14-ready metallic ensemble, complete with a chic cape and the ultimate androgynous accessory – Thor’s iconic hammer.

And would it be weird to say that we’re totally jealous of thenew protagonist’s strong bod? Marvel have perfectly translated the character’s traditionally hunky torso (supplied by Chris Hemsworth in the 2011 film) into a tough female form, without trying to down-play herphysical strength because she’s a woman.

In a statement on their website, Marvel acknowledged that they hope the new character will spur on a new generation of female comic book fans.“The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more," they said. "And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute- she’s not the one and only Thor, and she is worthy [of the status]!"

And so, as all mega-franchises seem to get made into movies these days, we thought we’d pick our top 5 kick-ass actresses who could play the super woman when she inevitably comes to the big screen. Jennifer Lawrence Has already put in the groundwork by training as a Tribute for The Hunger Games and as Raven in X-Men. She also recently face-palmed Emma Watson whilst wearing Dior Couture – an encouraging sign that she could pull off some serious combat moves whilst handling that gorgeous billowing cape.

Angelina Jolie Our ultimate woman-itarian is already out to save the world, so her attitude is spot-on for the part. Add to that her Tomb Raider combat-training past and we have a real force to be reckoned with.

Cara Delevingne Cara may not be as experienced in the field as some of the other contenders we’ve mentioned, but her recent runway rumbles show a feistier side. And if all else fails, she could do something clever with those eyebrows to ward-off the enemy.

The Hunger Games star treated us to a double dose of Dior in Cannes this weekend

Oh, Jennifer Lawrence. We were a bit miffed when you skipped the London premiere of X-Men last week. But then you go and doing something like this... and totally redeem yourself.

Jennifer had a double Dior day at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, as she posed in not one but two dazzling looks from her favourite designer.

First off, J.Law arrived at the photocall for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 wearing a casually cool co-ord number. She wore a cropped lace shell over an A-line mini skirt that showed just a hint of her bare midriff. (The perfect way to do crop tops, if you ask us.) She paired the breezy look with metallic silver courts and playfun pendant earrings.

Meanwhile, Jennifer's handsome male costars - Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin and Josh Hutcherson - all wore muted shades of blue and grey and happily let their female lead take centre stage.

For the main event, J.Law turned up the glam factor. Sticking with Dior (she is the face of the brand, after all), she arrived at the film's red-carpet premiere rocking a curve-hugging midnight-blue gown with a plunging neckline and as sheer skirt. She finished off the look with a simple black clutch and contrasting green earrings.

We still have six months until the newest instalment of The Hunger Games hits cinemas - which means there will be plenty of opportunities to admire and analyse J.Law's sartorial selections. Bring on the fashion parade...

Our favourite funny lady skipped out on the London premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past and simultaneously broke our hearts.

Jennifer Lawrence, why must you play with our emotions like this?

After her amazing appearance at the New York City premiere of X-Men: Days Of Future Past this weekend, we couldn't wait to see J.Law at the London premiere. How would she amuse us on our home turf? What eye-catching gorgeous gown would she wear? And would she stumble AGAIN?

Sadly none of those things happened, because Jennifer was heartbreakingly absent from Monday night's blue carpet.

Her costar and real-life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult was also missing from the London premiere. So were the two skiving off together, enjoying some rare couple time? Not exactly. The 23-year-old actress was reportedly busy filming scenes for the next instalment of The Hunger Games. (We guess that's an acceptable excuse.)

Jennifer and Nicholas weren't the only missing stars. Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage and Fan BingBing are currently busy promoting the film in Beijing.

But despite the limited roster (and the rainy weather), the blue carpet wasn't a total wash. We did get to admire some of the film's handsome male stars - including Sir Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Sir Ian McKellen and the ever-sexy Michael Fassbender.

While their outfits aren't nearly as fun to analyse as J.Law's, we are pretty impressed that they all managed to wear a different colour suit. Clever planning...

When Miley Cyrus does it, we can't help but cringe. But when J.Law sticks her tongue out, it's always endearing. And it's made even better by the fact that she's posing for silly selfies with fans -- and that her real-life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult is getting in on the action. 4. The time she made this face.

Jennifer's animated facial expressions are always the best part of her on-camera interviews. We can only imagine what hilariously self-deprecating story she's telling this reporter.

Okay, we're starting to have some serious concern about Jennifer's lack of equilibrium. She recently admitted that she stumbled at the past two Oscars due to some pre-party boozing. Was J.Law throwing back the bubbles in the limo on the way to this A-list event, too? We can't be sure -- but we do know we'd love to join her for the next round.

The actress was one of 10 lovely bridesmaids in her brother's wedding - and the stunning pictures were featured in Martha Stewart Weddings

Jennifer Lawrence is used to stealing the spotlight on red carpets and at awards shows. But for her brother's wedding last autumn, she was happy to let the bride have her moment.

The 23-year-old actress was one of 10 beautiful bridesmaids in the Kentucky wedding, which took place in October 2013. The gorgeous nuptials are featured on the cover of the new issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

In the stunning cover shot, Jennifer and the other smiling bridesmaids crowd around the blushing bride, Carson Massler. All 10 ladies are wearing lovely J.Crew dresses in the same champagne colour - though they chose varying styles. Jennifer's strapless version is the J.Crew Arabelle long dress in silk chiffon, which retails for £365.

'We kept the day’s colours as understated as possible because we wanted the natural beauty of the land to stand out,' says the bride.

The wedding took place at a farm near where Jennifer and her brother Blaine were raised in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jennifer has always been close to Blaine, as well as her other brother Ben. In her Golden Globes acceptance speech, she famously gave a shout-out to her older brothers. 'I wouldn’t be who I am today without you being mean to me, but then really supportive and loving,' she said.

As much as we love seeing the wedding pictures from Blaine and Carson's big day, we'd love to get a glimpse at the wedding video. We can only imagine that fun-loving J.Law was busting out some pretty killer dance moves...

Laura Simpson served as the Oscar nominee's date for the star-studded event - and she dished all the details in a tell-all blog

Jennifer Lawrence may not have won any awards at the Oscars this year, but she still got plenty of A-list treatment.

From the photographers to the other slightly-less-famous attendees, everyone wanted a piece of last year's Best Actress winner.

Her date, however, was not awarded the same level of attention.

No, we're not talking about her boyfriend, British actor Nicholas Hoult. We're talking about her other date, mere mortal Laura Simpson.

In a hilarious blog post on MySpace, Laura writes about what it's like to attend the Academy Awards as a non-celebrity - and in turn, gives an awesome behind-the-scenes account of what it's like to be Jennifer Lawrence, aka the most popular girl at the Oscars.

Laura, who met J.Law seven years ago at a party, describes arriving at the event with her famous friend.

'We finally arrive at the red carpet and as we exit the car, my date eats sh*t and uses my freshly done Lauren Conrad updo to break her fall,' she says, recapping Jen's second Oscars tumble. 'The crowd goes wild. There are flashbulbs and people circling yet no one asks if I need any help because unless you are famous at the Oscars, you are completely invisible.'

'I have never experienced anything like it. The only time anyone talks to you is if you are in the way of his or her photo. Oh and photographers on the carpet yell "YOU IN THE HUGE DRESS, GET OUT OF THE F***ING SHOT."'

Laura goes on to explain that she had a camera crane blocking her view of the stage, so she left the ceremony halfway through to go slam drinks at the bar with Jennifer's dad.

She then recounts being the only non-famous person in the green room, and describes her run-ins with Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, Kerry Washington and Penelope Cruz.

It sounds like Laura was understandably (and adorably) starstruck throughout the whole evening - but her favourite celebrity encounter was coming face-to-face with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

'Brad Pitt smells amazing, like nothing I've ever smelled,' she writes. 'Eventually we ask what cologne he's wearing and he tells us, "I don't wear cologne, it's just my musk I guess." I have to choose not to believe him because it would just be unfair to mankind.'

And while her focus was clearly on Brad, his lovely fiancee did not go unnoticed. 'Angelina is gorgeous and elegant and they are like The Sun and The Moon,' Laura says.

She also explains why she didn't actually get to log much quality time with her pal during the knit - and we finally start to understand how being that famous could get a bit annoying.

'We can't enjoy ourselves because everyone, whether they know my date or not, has some weird story they just NEED to tell her as they stand in front of me pushing me out of the circle,' she says.

Luckily, Laura found someone else to entertain her while J.Law was otherwise engaged.

'I get tired of this and decide to follow Bill Murray around the party,' she says. 'At one point he looks in my direction and winks at me while dancing to "If You Want My Body and You Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart - a moment, I now realize, my whole life had been leading up to.'

Sounds like a successful night to us!

The actress took a tumble for the second time at the Oscars - but she swears it was not staged

Jennifer Lawrence still baffles us with her ability to do everything wrong - yet somehow get it all so right.

The loveably quirky star caused the entire audience to gasp when she fell on her way up to accept her Best Actress Oscar last year.

Since then she's done countless things to entertain and surprise us - so we figured she'd pull something out of the bag for this year's Academy Awards.

We did not, however, think she'd take a second stumble.

The Best Supporting Actress nominee tripped on the red carpet on her way into the ceremony. Of course, she immediately jumped up and laughed it off - in true J.Law form. But she was clearly embarrassed about her clumsy repeat - and we just wanted to give her a big cuddle.

After the slip-up, she explained the incident to Access Hollywood. 'I don’t know how it happened so fast. I wasn’t even at the press yet,' she said. 'But there was a cone outside my car and yeah, I ran over the cone.'

Jennifer said her main concern is that people will think it was staged.

'I’m afraid that like - I got so scared and I hope nobody took a picture, because I’m afraid it’s going start looking like a gimmick,' she said.

In our minds, it seemed pretty obvious that her tumble was an accident. Plus, she's such a down-to-earth, relaxed chick (not to mention our fantasy BFF), it would be crazy to think she'd plan such a forced publicity stunt.

But apparently the idea did cross Jared Leto's mind.

'You know, I’m starting to wonder if this is a bit of an act,' the Best Supporting Actor winner told Access Hollywood after the show.

Okay, so he may have been joking. But we still think Jared needs to stick to what he knows (acting, singing and styling those gorgeous ombre waves) and leave our girl J.Law alone.

The American Hustle actress took a tumble on the Oscars red carpet for the second year in a row

Jennifer Lawrence suffered a severe red-faced moment when she tripped over on the Oscars 2014 red carpet for the second year in a row. Oh, Jen!

The 22-year-old American Hustle actress famously tripped over her gorgeous Dior gown last year and fell up the stairs while making her way to the stage to accept her Academy Award.

And it seems a J-Law stumble is becoming an annual awards ceremony occurrence, with the Oscar-nominated star losing her footing once again, this time before even entering the grand Dolby Theatre. 

Stepping onto the red carpet in a strapless red Dior showstopper, Jennifer turned to wave to fans before accidentally getting her dress caught in her hot Brian Atwood heels and falling onto a member of her entourage.

Immediately bursting into hysterics, the actress styled out her red carpet faux pas in true adorable J-Law fashion, later laughing to reporters: 'The cone hit me, I've cut my shin, how is my dress not dirty.'

Lawrence lost out on the best supporting actress award for American Hustle at this year's ceremony, being pipped to the post by 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong'o, who looked gorgeous in a powder blue Prada gown.

She takes the beauty rule book and throws it clean out the window. Weird thing is, it only makes us love her all the more.

On every red carpet line-up, Jennifer Lawrence is the only one we're looking for and we adore her in every single inch of Dior. However, when it comes to beauty, she's like that gorgeous friend you have who makes all the mistakes but somehow still manages to look cooler than everyone else. Everything's so wrong but turns out right, if you know what we mean?

1. Wet look (or just plain greasy). Scraped back hair - a runway look that was mever meant to make it to the red carpet. We love it stomping down the catwalks at fashion week but no one's crazy enough to team it with couture. Oh wait, she did.

2. Those brows. While the rest of us are threading out, then painstakingly drawing our brows back in, continuing the quest for bold, handsome brows (we blame you Emma Watson and Cara Delevingne), J-Law's don't even match. We know brows are sisters, not twins but these guys aren't even pen pals. So why do they look so good?

3. She takes the no-makeup look literally. We all talk about the 'no-makeup' makeup but actually mean clever contouring and subtle concealing, no one really bares all. Zoom in all you like, you won't see a trace of foundation. Not a dot of highlighter in sight and she's still glowing like a beacon. Utterly gorgeous.

4. She just hacked her hair clean off. It's like she woke up one morning and thought, 'Na, I'll leave the hair thanks!' The rest of us would have agonised over it for weeks, maybe tiptoed into a long bob and then inch by inch, snipped through the length stages. Not her, she just cut straight to it.

5. The waterline scandal. Drawing liner on the inside of your lashline (aka the waterline) is what we all started doing at age twelve before we realised it makes eyes look small and piggy. She doesn't entirely escape that but manages to look edgy and mean girl cool.

6. The cardinal sin. The first rule of beauty? Never team full-on eyes with dark lips, but will she listen? Rust-tone, lipstick, glitter eyeshadow right to the brows, false lashes and a pair of giant, multicoloured earrings to boot. And she still won a Golden Globe!

7. Then of course there's this face... point made.

The Oscar nominee says she's a little nervous about her upcoming fitting and dishes about last year's gorgeous gown

Jennifer Lawrence doesn't seem too concerned about whether she'll win an Oscar on Sunday night. (After all, she already has one of those at home.)

Instead, the American Hustle star says she's just worried that her dress might not fit.

The best supporting actress nominee, 23, opened up to Deadline about her red-carpet preparations. 'I’m trying to go back to that place where dress fittings seemed exciting,' she said. 'I’ve had one fitting here in Atlanta and I think I have the final fitting on the day of the awards. So I just hope it fits.'

Since Jennifer has already snagged the Golden Globe and the BAFTA awards for her American Hustle performance this season, it's starting to seem more likely that she might pull a rare Oscar repeat on Sunday. (She won best actress last year for The Silver Linings Playbook.)

Only five actors have ever won back-to-back Oscars, and J.Law would be the youngest by far.

Jennifer Lawrence reveals her plans for the future once Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 filming has wrapped

Jennifer Lawrence is hands down one Hollywood's most hard-working actresses, so it's no wonder she's keen for a little breather from the showbiz spotlight.

The 23-year-old Silver Linings Playbook star, who is about to resume her role as Mystique in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, has revealed that she plans to step away from the cameras once her work has concluded on The Hunger Games.

After admitting that she only has herself to blame for her hectic past few years, hopping from film set to film set, Jen told Empire magazine:

'It’s okay, it’s my fault. I get little breaks here and there.

'But on the last day of Hunger Games [Mockingjay - Part 2], I’m going to turn my phone off for a year!'

As one of Hollywood's most in-demand actresses, we have a feeling that could be tough. But it's not the first time Jen has hinted at taking a career break...

Last year, she told USA Today: 'I’ve built my career. I need to build my human life. I need to get a house and connect to the people around me and not work for a little while.'

The Oscar award-winning starlet, who is currently dating British actor Nicholas Hoult, has also been musing about a possible future in the world of TV.

When asked what was next on her list following her impressive Oscar win, Jennifer told Empire magazine:

'I don't know... go into television? Or do something totally unexpected. I'll start doing voiceovers for Animal Planet. No, but seriously now, that's something I really want to do.'

Actors and filmmakers pay their respects to Philip Seymour Hoffman after the actor was found dead in his New York home on Sunday

Heartfelt tributes have been pouring in from Hollywood actors and filmmakers alike following the death of legendary Hollywood veteran Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found at his home in New York yesterday.

The Oscar-winning actor's body was discovered by a friend in the bathroom of his Manhattan apartment at around 11:15am on Sunday morning. At aged 46, Philip is thought to have died from a drug overdose.

The loss of one of Hollywood's most-loved actors has led to an outpouring of shock, sadness and grief from the star's friends and colleagues.

Jennifer Lawrence, who starred with Hoffman in The Hunger Games, described him as an 'such a incredible actor.'

'You played an excellent Plutarch. So sad,' she wrote on Twitter.

George Clooney, who appeared alongside Hoffman in The Ides of March, said: 'There are no words... It's just terrible.'

Robert De Niro was also among many fellow actors expressing their sorrow. 'I'm very, very saddened by the passing of Phil. He was a wonderful actor. This is one of those times where you say: "This just shouldn't be",' he said.

'He was so young and gifted and had so much going, so much to live for. My family and I send our deepest condolences to his family.'

Gwyneth Paltrow  expressed her grief via Instagram, where she posted a retro image of her and Jude Law partying with their The Talented Mr Ripley co-star.

'Ischia 1998, post dinner, post shooting... Philip was a true genius. #philipseymourhoffman,' she wrote in the caption.

News of the actor’s passing also overshadowed proceedings at the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards last night, where several former colleagues paid tribute.

Skyfall actress Naomie Harris told red carpet reporters: 'That's a huge loss for everyone. He was an extraordinary and intelligent man, so it's incredibly sad, and it makes the evening all a bit more sombre now, having heard.'

Hoffman, who had previously spoken of receiving treatment for drug abuse, won an Academy Award in 2005 for best actor for his leading role in Capote, a film based on the life of the novelist Truman Capote.

He is survived by his three children and their mother, Mimi O’Donnell, a costume designer with whom he had been in a long-term relationship.

'Jennifer Lawrence is a very . . . let’s say . . . raw and intuitive young lady, and she’s not against eating Doritos and snack food in her costume,' he explained.

Luckily the costume department, without realising, anticipated J-Law's pesky Doritos habit by creating four of the same frock - worn as she confronts Amy Adams' character in a club scene - before filming. Phew.
