Florence Pugh has vulnerably opened up about her health as a woman, including getting diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, and freezing her eggs at just 27.

The Oppenheimer actress just appeared on the SHE MD podcast with celebrity gynaecologist Dr. Thais Aliabadi and her co-host Mary Alice Haney, and shared a lot about her gynaecological health journey so far.

She began by explaining that she met Dr. Thais (affectionately known as "Dr. A" by her celeb clients including the Kardashians and Hailey Bieber) when she had "a bit of a worry" last year and wanted to see a doctor about it. She also explained that there isn't a culture of regularly seeing a gynaecologist in the UK as much as there is in the US, and that she likely wouldn't have got the information she did if she hadn't had some symptoms she wanted to deal with.

"I just had this sudden feeling that I should go and get everything checked. I’d had a few weird dreams, I think my body was telling me."

Florence asked her friends to refer her to a gynaecologist, which is how she found Dr. A. The first question the doctor asked her was if she'd had an egg count. "I was like, 'No? What do you mean? I’m so young. Why do I need an egg count?'" she said.

When she did the egg count, Dr. A diagnosed Florence with PCOS and endometriosis.

"It was just so bizarre because my family are baby-making machines," the actress explained. "My mum had babies into her forties. My gran had babies throughout... I just never assumed that I was going to be in any way different."

Because of her family background, Florence explained that fertility wasn't a "worry" for her. "And then of course, I learned completely different information, age 27, that I need to get my eggs out, and do it quickly, which was just a bit of a mind-boggling realization—and one that I’m really, really lucky and glad that I found out when I did," she said. "Because I’ve been wanting kids since I was a child."

Florence is grateful for the information she now has, which has meant that she's been able to alter her lifestyle in accordance with her symptoms, and to maximise her potential to have children when she's ready. She also urged anyone experiencing symptoms to consult a specialist and be pro-active about their health.

If it feels like Andrew Garfield is everywhere at the moment, that's because he absolutely is. Not only is he going viral for his excellent Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg, he has also been praised for his touching appearance on a recent episode of Sesame Street where he discusses grief, and he gave a heartbreaking reading on the New York Times Modern Love podcast.

Now, his We Live In Time co-star Florence Pugh has opened up about working alongside him for their upcoming movie, and she had the sweetest things to say. The pair star in the romantic drama as Almut Brühl (Pugh) and Tobias Durand (Garfield), and it's clear that the actors have a lot of chemistry off-screen, too. Their press tour clips have been everywhere online, and he even brought a cardboard cutout of Florence to the premiere as she couldn't be there in person. Adorable.

Taking to Instagram to discuss her time working on the film, Florence shared some behind the scenes photos and wrote: "My my my. My favourite bit. Sharing from the shoot. There’s such a lot of material I want to share from WLIT... It’s actually just been really beautiful though, watching the love of this movie grow, just feeling the audience waiting and ready to receive it has been quite a powerful thing to witness. It’s a piece of work and a piece of life that I’m so proud of."

Adding that she was thrilled to take on the role of Almut, she continued: "I’ve been desperate for a role like this for a few years. A woman who is current and relatable and going through all of the conversations modern women are going through daily. Not only am I constantly proud of the outcome, I’m just so aware of how many incredible masterminds came together to make it and then crew that made it possible."

While she acknowledged the work of writer Nick Paynes and director John Crowley, Florence also made time to thank her co-star Andrew, adding: "Thank you Andrew. I’ll forever be empowered by what we created together and the performer you made me want to be each day."

No one can say Florence Pugh isn't dedicated to her craft.

The actress once reminisced on how exactly she managed to portray the anguish of her character, Dani, in the terrifying 2019 film Midsommar, and it sounds like she really put herself through it.

"I'd never played someone that was in that much pain before, and I'd put myself in really sh*t situations that maybe other actors don't need to do," Florence told Ed Gamble and James Acaster on the Off Menu podcast last year (via People).

"Each day, the content would be getting more weird and harder to do, I was putting things in my head that were just getting worse and more bleak."

She also said: "I think by the end, I had probably, most definitely abused my own self in order to get that performance."

The way she threw herself into the role had consequences on Florence's own wellbeing once filming wrapped, she explained to James and Ed.

"I remember looking down and feeling immense guilt, like I felt so guilty, because I felt like I'd left her in that field, in that state, and it was so weird, I'd never had that before," she told the comedians.

"It's funny, I'd obviously created such a sad person and then felt guilty that I'd created that person and then left her."

Hopefully, now that a few years have passed, Florence has been able to put Dani behind her.

Right now, the actress' fans are super excited about one of her latest projects, the film We Live in Time — in which her costar is none other than Andrew Garfield.

The trailer was released last week, and it looks incredibly moving. Directed by John Crowley, who also directed Brooklyn, the film tells a tragic love story that starts when Florence's character runs Andrew's over with her car. A bit incongruous, maybe, but exciting nonetheless.

With Dune: Part Two finally on the horizon after a two and a half year wait, the actors from the sci-fi franchise are currently promoting the second instalment ahead of its release in March - and there are some big names joining the cast. While Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson are reprising their roles, fans will also see the likes of Léa Seydoux and Christopher Walken on the fictional desert planet Arrakis. 

And while Florence and Rebecca are A-listers in their own right, they admitted that meeting Walken was a huge moment for them on the Dune set - and they were so in awe of the Hollywood heavyweight that they were left more than a little starstruck. 

During an interview on The One Show, Florence told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas that she has been a lifelong fan of his, explaining: "I think, first of all, it's a privilege just to be on that film set anyway, the sheer amount of talent of the cast and crew, it makes you want to do your best every single day regardless. And then of course I get to work with this legend who I've looked up to since I was tiny. I think you're just in that really special situation where you just absorb everything you can every single day."

When her co-star Rebecca - who plays Lady Jessica in the film - said she was 'terrified of approaching him', she asked Florence if she shared the sentiment. Although the Don't Worry Darling star said she wasn't 'terrified', she did admit that she had to quickly move past feeling starstruck as they worked on so many scenes together. She added: " No, I wasn't [terrified]... also all of my scenes were with him, so I had to break that fear pretty quickly!"

See, even the biggest A-listers get flustered by other celebrities. 

The Golden Globes red carpet was the gift that kept on giving, from Natalie Portman's Louvre-worthy Dior sparkling gown to Gillian Anderson's Gabriela Hearst silk embroidered gown with a subversive twist (look closer). 

Another stand-out ensemble came, unsurprisingly, from Florence Pugh, who walked the red carpet in a firey red Valentino dress and some of the tallest metallic platform shoes I've ever seen.

Now, Florence is no stranger to a sky-high platform having worn the style to various other high-profile events (the Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week as pictured below is a sterling example). She attended the Golden Globes in LA in support of Christopher Nolan's historical epic Oppenheimer, which swept the board on the night and won the prestigious Best Drama Motion Picture. The actor also lent her voice to The Boy and the Heron, winner of Best Animated Picture.

Florence's dress was custom-made by Valentino, crafted with bright red chiffon and afforded with red rosettes. The wrap bodice is a style often favoured by the actor, as is the sheer material, but the incredible platform shoes are everything. She paired her vibrant ensemble with a glittering beaded necklace and flawless make-up with a pop of Valentino lipstick. 

Valentino put sky-high platforms back on the map in 2023, so it would make sense for fashion-forward Florence to pay homage to the brand with her choice of footwear to kick off the awards season this year (ahem, not long to go until Oscars 2024) .

This summer, there were two movies that had even the most fair-weather film watchers heading to the cinema. 

Greta Gerwig's Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer were released on 21st July, and it seemed as though everyone was heading to the nearest silver screen.

While Barbie boasted an enormous roster of famous faces, Oppenheimer had fewer key players - but the actors involved are undeniably some of Hollywood's elite. With Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh in the mix, it's unsurprising that film buffs across the globe were eager to see Nolan's latest offering. 

However, since the movie's release, many noted that the female characters - Florence Pugh's Jean Tatlock and Emily Blunt's Katherine Oppenheimer - didn't get much air time as their male counterparts. One feminist academic took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share her disappointment that 'no women speak until 20 minutes in'. 

But in a resurfaced interview with MTV, Florence Pugh has touched on the leading ladies' smaller roles and revealed that Nolan 'apologised' for their size before she had even seen the script. 

In clips from the interview, which took place ahead of Oppenheimer's release last month, Florence says: "I didn't really know what was going on or what was being made but Chris really, really wanted me to know that it wasn't a very big role and he understands if I don't want to come near it.

"And I was like: 'Doesn't matter, even if I'm a coffee maker at a café in the back of the room let's do it.'"

She continued: "We met for a drink in New York at the time... and it was just one of those bizarre moments in your career where you're like: 'I'm meeting Christopher Nolan, oh my god.' 

"And I remember he apologised about the size of the role and I was like: 'Please don't apologise!'"

Florence also said that the director wanted her to see the script before she made a decision, calling it 'the sizing thing', but that she had already made her mind up.

She added: "He said: 'We'll send you the script and honestly you just read it and you decide if it's right, I completely understand the sizing thing.' 

"And I remember that evening when I got the script being like: 'I know I'm going to do it.' And yeah, it was huge."

Florence Pugh has previously spoken out against body shaming and the pressures of Hollywood body standards, and now the Don't Worry Darling star has reiterated that she will 'not comply'. 

Trigger warning: Discusses disordered eating

During an interview on Vogue's YouTube channel, Florence shared her recipe for garlic crostini bread and spoke about how people in the industry were 'confused' when she refused to diet in the early days of her career. 

She also discussed her relationship with food, and how she 'put her foot down' when she was expected to conform. 

Florence said: "Body image for women is a major thing. From the moment you start growing thighs and bums and boobs and all of it, everything starts changing. And your relationship with food starts changing.

"I had a weird chapter with the beginning of my career, but that was because I wasn't complying. I think that was confusing to people, especially in Hollywood."

She added: "Women, especially young women in Hollywood, are obviously putting themselves in all these ways in order to get whatever opportunity that they need to get because that's just the way that it's been.

"When I went and did that project it was expected that you would be on whatever diet you needed to be on, and for me that was shocking because I'd never done that before.

"It's not to say other people can't do that but I think I definitely put my foot down in that aspect. I love food."

It isn't the first time that Florence has spoken out about the pressures of being in the spotlight, and the comments she has faced about her body. 

While attending a Valentino fashion show in July last year, she went viral for wearing a sheer gown through which you could see her nipples and decided to respond to negative comments on Instagram, writing: "What's been interesting to watch and witness is just how easy it is for men to totally destroy a woman's body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see. 

"So many of you wanted to aggressively let me know how disappointed you were by my 'tiny t**s', or how I should be embarrassed by being so 'flat chested'.

"I've lived in my body for a long time. I'm fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it."

She addressed the furore later in an interview with Vogue, sharing: "I've never been scared of what's underneath the fabric, if I'm happy in it, then I'm gonna wear it. 

"Of course, I don't want to offend people, but I think my point is: How can my nipples offend you that much? It's very important that we do this."

Florence Pugh and Zach Braff split in 2022 after dating for three years. During their time as a couple, the pair were forced to defend their relationship as many commented on the twenty year age gap between them. 

The actors became an item in 2019, and the following year the Don't Worry Darling star said: "I am 24 years old. I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love, and I would never in my life ever tell anyone who they can and cannot love. It not your place, and really it has nothing to do with you. 

"If those rules are something that you do not like, then please unfollow me, because the abuse that you throw at him is abuse that you're throwing at me, and I don't want those followers."

While they kept their romance largely out of the public eye, they split last year with Florence telling Harper's Bazaar: "We've been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it's been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on.

"We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we're not together. So we've done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it."

However, it seems that the pair are on good terms as the Scrubs actor shared a sweet birthday message for Florence on her 27th birthday. 

Alongside a photo of Florence looking out at a picturesque view, Zach wrote on Instagram: "Happy birthday, legend."

Florence is starring in A Good Person, a comedy drama written, directed and produced by Zach, and they have both been sharing snippets and insights on their social media accounts. 

The film is set to be released in March and tells the story of a young woman who's life is turned upside down by a tragic accident.
