Emma Watson's rise to Hollywood stardom was, in a word, meteoric; after appearing in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone aged 10, she became an overnight star and in later years would go on to land roles in a number of critically acclaimed movies - from The Perks of Being a Wallflower to Little Women. While she has quit acting since her last onscreen role in 2018, Emma has continued to work on various creative projects, including directing a short film for a Prada campaign and starting a gin business with her brother, Alex. 

And while her silver screen success is often talked about, Emma is famously private about her personal life. However, when she spoke about her relationship status in 2019, it piqued fans interest (and not only those who have been shipping Emma Watson and Tom Felton   for years). 

During an interview with British Vogue four years ago, Emma spoke about her relationship status, and while she was rumoured to be dating American businessman Leo Robinton at the time she proudly referred to herself as 'self-partnered' in the cover story. She stated: "I never believed the whole 'I'm happy single' spiel. I was like, 'This is totally spiel.' It took me a long time, but I'm very happy [to be single]. I call it being self-partnered."

Her comments sparked interest in the term, and now she has explained exactly what she meant when she used the phrase. In a new interview for the publication, she touched on the term 'self-partnered' to clarify what it means to her. 

Emma said it wasn't 'necessarily about me celebrating being single', continuing: "Getting to the point when I was 30, I was realising: 'Oh. Maybe I’ve figured out some things about how to care for myself better – maybe quite well, actually.' And taking pride in that."

And while she's proudly independent, Emma added that connection and community are just as important, saying: "Coming out of Covid, I really understood the importance of building community, having community and investing, very intentionally, time and energy into that."

Emma Watson became a household name at just 11 years old after landing the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie franchise. After starring in all eight films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, she went on to enjoy a successful acting career with a number of blockbusters under her belt, including The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Beauty and the Beast.

However, her final onscreen appearance came in 2018 when she played Meg in Greta Gerwig's Little Women. Despite a thriving career in Hollywood, Emma decided to give up acting after almost 20 years, and during an interview with the Financial Times she explained why it's unlikely we'll see her gracing the silver screen any time soon. 

Discussing her decision to step back, Emma revealed: "I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over.

"To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, 'How does this align with your viewpoint?'... It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process."

Adding that she 'wasn't very happy', she continued: "I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, 'Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better'."

In recent years Emma has focused on new projects, including her gin brand Renais, which she founded with her brother Alex, as well as directing a short film for a Prada campaign, which she also stars in. In the interview, she also said she would be taking on the role of director for a music video for a big musician.

It has been 12 years since the final instalment of the Harry Potter movie franchise, but fans of the films are still just as keen to hear about all the behind the scenes details.

Over the years, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton have spoken about their experiences growing up on the Harry Potter set, and this week some of those conversations are resurfacing. 

During the reunion in 2022, Return To Hogwarts, Emma was joined by her co-stars where they opened up about everything from their fond memories to what it was really like when the cameras weren't rolling. 

They also discussed the moment that Ron and Hermione kissed, with Emma detailing just how awkward it really was to share that moment with Rupert who she saw as a 'sibling'. 

She said: "Obviously us kissing was the most horrifying thing either of us have ever had to go through."

Adding that it 'felt wrong on every level' given that the young actors had grown up together, she said it was 'meant to be this dramatic make-out, but we just kept laughing'.

Radcliffe chimed in, adding: "I did not make this better, because I’ve been told significantly that I was just being an absolute dick about this and was like, 'I’m gonna come on set and watch you guys kiss.'

"I’m sorry about that, guys."

It wasn't the first time that she has spoken about the experience. In a resurfaced clip from an interview with Jonathan Ross in 2012, Emma said: "It was the most horrible thing I’ve ever had to do.

"Not because Rupert isn’t lovely - and there are millions of girls out there who would probably chop their left arm off to kiss him - but it just felt like incest. That’s the only way I can describe it.

"The great thing about kissing is that you close your eyes, so it was fine when I was actually kissing him because I had my eyes closed. So I could not think about the fact that it was him. “

"The worst bit is when we had to open our eyes and look at each other because then it was just like, and then we couldn’t keep going."  

Emma Watson is one of the most talked-about women in the world - and from her admission that she almost quit the Harry Potter series to her sweet words about former co-star Tom Felton, she never fails to make headlines. 

The actor and activist made waves this week as she returned to social media to mark her 33rd birthday. 

Posting a series of black and white photographs to the 'gram, she penned a personal tribute to her 30s and it is unsurprisingly going viral.

Happy birthday to Emma Watson!

Tom Felton and Emma Watson fans have been shipping a romantic union between the pair for years. 

The young actors met while working on the Harry Potter franchise, and since the films wrapped in 2008 they have remained best friends, with Emma calling Tom her platonic "soulmate". 

Over the years, Feltson fans have seen them share cute photos skateboarding in Santa Monica and playing the guitar in their pyjamas during a trip to South Africa, and they have spoken about how much love they have for one another in various interviews. 

Emma admitted that she had 'a huge crush' on the Slytherin alumni while they filmed the first two movies, and Tom has previously said he 'adores' her, also writing in his autobiography that she was the one who encouraged him to open up about his mental health.

As for any romance between the two, Rupert Grint once said that there was a 'spark' between them, and Tom also revealed that everyone around them was convinced there was something more than friendship. 

He wrote: "Rumours started to abound that there was more to our relationship than we were letting on. I denied that I liked her in that way, but the truth was different.

"My girlfriend at the time knew straightaway that there was something unspoken between us. I remember using the familiar old line ‘I love her like a sister.’ But there was more to it than that."

He added: "I don't think I was ever in love with Emma, but I loved and admired her as a person in a way that I could never explain to anybody else…. We were kindred spirits. I know for certain I'll always have Emma's back and she'll always have mine too."

During a new interview with Access Hollywood, Tom elaborated on their "pure love" but was quick to deny that they ever discussed a relationship. 

When asked if there was a pact between them to remain just friends, or with anyone from the Harry Potter cast, he said: "No definitely not. None of us had that pact.

"There was chemistry but no one acted on it as far as I know."

In his book, Beyond The Wand, Emma wrote a foreward for Tom, calling him her soulmate: "For more than 20 years now we’ve loved each other in a special way... I’ve lost count of the times people have said to me, ‘You must have drunkenly made out, just once!’ ‘You must have kissed!’ ‘There must be something!’ 

"But what we have is far deeper than that. 

"It’s one of the purest loves I can think of. We’re soulmates, and we’ve always had each other’s backs. I know we always will."

Fans were quick to link her words to comments made by J.K. Rowling about trans rights

This year’s BAFTA Awards ceremony was as eventful as ever, with host Rebel Wilson opening the evening with jokes about her weight loss, a virtual appearance from Prince William and plenty of noteworthy red carpet looks. 

However, two days after the event there is one moment from the ceremony that people can’t stop talking about. 

"Our next presenter is Emma Watson," said Rebel Wilson as she welcomed the Harry Potter star onstage to present the award for Best Outstanding British Film. "She's proud to call herself a feminist, but we all know she's a witch."

Once standing at the podium, and with a knowing smile, Emma replied: "I'm here for all of the witches." 

Many have taken Emma’s comment to be a message of support for trans rights. Her words were greeted with scattered cheers from the audience, while people on Twitter quickly suggested that Emma was deliberately throwing shade on J.K. Rowling. 

The Harry Potter author’s views on trans rights have been under scrutiny since 2020, when she first expressed her view that trans women aren't women on Twitter. 

At the time, various Harry Potter cast members made their own statements in response, including Emma Watson. She said: "Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are. I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are."

Rowling’s controversial views have made headlines again recently after she commented on Scotland's Gender Recognition Reform Bill. The new legislation makes it easier for people in Scotland to change the sex listed on their birth certificate. According to Rowling, this will create "likely negative consequences” for women and girls.

Since Sunday's ceremony, many have spoken out in defence of Rowling, with one tweeter commenting that Emma should “have a chat with the woman who gave her a lucrative career, rather than publicly making snide remarks for likes. She might find the world’s best-selling author has some wisdom to impart.”

Another person commented: “Emma Watson is NO queen. A queen does NOT *try* to throw shade on another woman. Whoever is trying to bring you down is already below you...and Watson has sunk so far below JK Rowling's horizon, the sun has set. #IStandWithJKRowling #JKRowlingSpeaksForMe”.

However, many others have praised Emma for standing up for the trans community, with several arguing that she is not indebted to Rowling for her success.

“Just to be clear: the person most responsible for Emma Watson's successful career is Emma Watson,” wrote on tweeter. 

Another user commented: “Pretty funny to see all these self-proclaimed “feminists” saying that Emma Watson, a grown woman, shouldn’t be able to speak her mind because she “owes” all her professional accomplishments to someone she worked for over 11 years ago.” 

The debate will no doubt continue.

Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, also shocked fans with his Attitude cover in 2015.

However, one key actor has changed so much that he recently opened up about not being recognised by fans.

Harry Melling, who played Dudley Dursley, has starred in a number of shows since his Harry Potter days, including His Dark Materials, the 2019 BBC drama based on Philip Pullman’s Book of Dust trilogy and the new Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit.

But he revealed that these days he often isn't recognised - although he sees it as a 'blessing'.

He told PEOPLE: 'I think it was an unconscious thing when it started to happen.

'I went to drama school when I was 18 and that's kind of where the weight shifted, not for any sort of major need on my side, but it's just something that just happened. I’ve done a lot since drama school, went to do lots of theatres.

'I think one of the blessings of that sort of stage in my life was the fact that I didn’t get recognised.

'I had this history of being part of the films, but also I felt like I had the opportunity to sort of cause a new start, which I think is useful.'

Cinderella

We can't wait to see Emma Watson take on the role of Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast later this year, but did you know that the Harry Potter actress was originally approached to portray a totally different Disney princess? Yes, apparently Watson had previously been offered the role of Cinderella in Kenneth Branagh's (Professor Lockhart just FYI) 2015 remake but turned it down as the character wasn't the role model she wanted to portray.

'I didn't know they were going to make Beauty and the Beast at the time I turned down Cinderella,' she told Total Film magazine. 'But when they offered me Belle, I just felt the character resonated with me so much more than Cinderella did. She remains curious, compassionate and open-minded. And that's the kind of woman I would want to embody as a role model, given the choice.'

La La Land

It was recently announced that the Golden Globe award-winning duo, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, weren't the original two cast in the film's leading roles. In fact it turns out that Miles Teller and Emma Watson were originally cast. La La Land writer and director, Damien Chazelle, told Uproxx: 'The casting of this movie during the six years it took to get made went through lots of permutations, and it's true there was a moment where Emma Watson and Miles Teller were doing it.'

The Lord of the Rings

David Bowie was almost in Lord Of The Rings - yes, you read that right. As the first instalment of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, celebrates its 15 year anniversary, the film's casting director, Amy Hubbard, has revealed that they actually wanted David Bowie to play Gandalf (before they got in Ian McKellen): 'We approached him. I’m pretty sure it was Peter Jackson’s idea in the first few weeks that we got going. It was one that he’d always wondered about, and we rang Chris, and [Bowie] was far too busy.'

Superman Returns

Jude Law made a surprising confession on late night telly this week, when he revealed that he was almost cast as Superman way back in the year 2006. Alfie star went as far as trying on the costume before officially turning down the role. But once he tried on the famous blue and red suit, he realised there was 'no way' he could take on the role, explaining: 'I was always worried about the outfit and I just didn't fancy it.' Christopher Reeves look-a-like Brandon Routh would go on to play the character, ultimately being recast himself with Henry Cavill became the Man of Steel.

Gone Girl

It's hard to imagine Gone Girl without the dynamic between Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike - but according to news this week, Jon Hamm was originally up for the lead role of Nick Dunne. Hamm pulled out of the running because of contractual obligations to shoot Mad Men, and apparently he wasn't happy about it. 'Jon was really upset about it at the time - and is still upset, because he’s thinking about the future of his career as Mad Men comes to a close,' a source told Page Six.

So what would Gone Girl have been like if things had gone his way? Where Affleck brings a cocky, laddish quality to the role, and excelled at playing the thoughtless husband caught out by an expert manipulator, Hamm is the king of brooding darkness. In his hands, Nick might have been more of a dangerous match for Pike's Amy. And call us superficial, but we would have liked to see him in that shower scene.

Titanic

Rumour has it that Gwyneth Paltrow turned down the part of Rose in Titanic, leaving it to 19-year-old almost-unknown actress Kate Winslet. Claire Danes was also in the running, but could either of them have brought Winslet's wholesome innocence to the part? We think not. Even at 19, she was a costume-drama pro after roles in Sense and Sensibility and Hamlet - and we wouldn't have Titanic any other way.

Elf

No, no, no, NO. This one is just wrong: when Elf was originally being developed back in 1993, Jim Carrey was attached to play Buddy. By the time the film was actually made, a decade later, he had moved on from the role - leaving us with Will Ferrell. Carrey may be a comedian, but we can't imagine he would have been as sweetly silly as Ferrell.

The Blind Side

Julia Roberts apparently turned down the lead role in The Blind Side, which ended up earning Sandra Bullock an Oscar for Best Actress. Bullock was undeniably good, but we can definitely see Roberts playing the privileged-but-tough matriarch Leigh Anne - after all, there's something of the Erin Brockoviches about her.

Clueless

Two years before we met Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we met Cher Horowitz in Clueless - but if it hadn't been for schedule clashes, she would have been played by Sarah Michelle Gellar too. Gellar had to turn down the role as it conflicted with filming for the soap opera All My Children, so Silverstone stepped in to deliver such iconic lines as 'Isn’t my house classic? The columns date all the way back to 1972.'

Grease

Can you imagine Danny Zuko being played by anyone other than John Travolta? If there's one obvious candidate, it would have to be the Fonz. Henry Winkler was offered the part in Grease but turned it down because he didn't want to be typecast: 'But what I didn't realise was that I already was [typecast],' he explained later. 'That's why John Travolta went on to buy his own plane and I just went home.'

Pretty Woman

Having become a household name in the 1980s, Molly Ringwald was too inundated with offers to accept the lead role of Vivian in a 1990 romcom about a prostitute and a businessman. It's almost impossible to imagine her fanning out condoms or singing Prince in the bath with the same panache as Julia Roberts. Then again, Pretty Woman was also supposed to be a gritty drama - who knew?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

We must have been living in different times indeed when someone imagined Johnny Depp as twinkly, fresh-faced prankster Ferris Bueller. Depp turned down the role because it clashed with another job, and the rest, thankfully, is history. Side note: is it just us, or does Matthew Broderick still look about 18?

Silver Linings Playbook

Anne Hathaway was originally slated to play the offbeat Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook, but had to drop out. Jennifer Lawrence auditioned at the last minute via Skype, and scooped the role that would go on to win her an Oscar. 'We didn’t know she had all that in her!' said director David O. Russell. 'She came in at the eleventh hour and just stole it.' Tell us something we don't know.

Showgirls

If you can remember when Drew Barrymore played an adorable little girl in ET, you'll be as relieved as we are that she didn't take the lead role in 1995's soft-porn boob-fest Showgirls.

Barrymore declined the role of 'dancer' Nomi, which infamously went to Saved By The Bell's Elizabeth Berkley. Good thing too, because we can't bear the idea of her doing all that splashing about with Kyle Maclachlan.

It was a perfect display of diplomatic dressing from Kate, who was of course at Kensington Palace to meet and greet natives from India and Bhutan, ahead of the Royal tour of the regions that she and William start in Mumbai on Sunday.

We can’t wait to see what other new labels and Indian fashion influences Kate will work into her wardrobe when she packs for her six day tour next week. According to the Telegraph, she will take between 12 and 15 outfits for the six days of official visits.

‘She is in charge of it herself and takes an interest in paying tribute to the host country with nods to their culture and local style on at least a few of the engagements,’ a royal source told the paper. ‘The important factor on this tour is the heat, so that's an issue that plays a big part in the choice of outfits.’

The actress reveals that she was pursued for ‘up-skirt’ pictures on her 18th birthday.

Emma Watson has spoken out about the frankly gross treatment she has been subjected to by the paparazzi, highlighting what it’s really like to be a female celebrity in the public eye.

In conversation with actor Forest Whitaker at her HeForShe Arts Week in New York, the Harry Potter actress opened up about one particularly awful incident, on her 18th birthday, where photographers pursued her to take pictures up her skirt, and spoke of how differently women get treated to men in the industry.

‘I remember on my 18th birthday I came out of my birthday party and photographers laid down on the pavement and took photographs up my skirt, which were then published on the front of the English tabloid [newspapers] the next morning’ ‘If they had published the photographs 24 hours earlier they would have been illegal, but because I had just turned 18 they were legal.’

Explaining how different it was for her to grow up in the spotlight compared to her male co-stars, Emma added; ‘Obviously Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint], who were my male co-stars, don’t wear skirts but I think that’s just one example of how my transition to womanhood was dealt very differently by the tabloid press than it was for my male colleagues.’

Emma also expanded on the gross behaviour and groping she has experienced as a young actress, in this month’s Esquire magazine. ‘I’ve had my arse slapped as I’ve left a room. I’ve felt scared walking home,’ she said.

‘I’ve had people following me. I don’t talk about these experiences much, because coming from me they’ll sound like a huge deal and I don’t want this to be about me, but most women I know have experienced it and worse… this is unfortunately how it is. It’s so much more pervasive than we acknowledge. It shouldn’t be an acceptable fact of life that women should be afraid.’

She’s right. And, of course, she shouldn’t even need to say it.

Time Magazine has revealed its annual 100 Most Influential People chart – and Emma Watson, Reese Witherspoon and Kim Kardashian have all made the cut.

Four super women feature this year’s top 10 - Mellody Hobson (3rd) a director on the boards of Starbucks, Estée Lauder, DreamWorks Animation and Groupon, Elizabeth Holmes (5th), the self-made billionaire and healthcare technology entrepreneur, Susan Wojcicki (8th) CEO of YouTube and Chanda Kochhar (9th) CEO of the ICICI Bank.

Next in at number 13 is Kim Kardashian, dubbed ‘the first lady of #fame’ and acknowledged for her loyal following and ability to broadcast (and ultimately sell) absolutely anything. At 26 is Emma Watson, 29 is Reese Witherspoon and 40 Laverne Cox, all amongst the other big female celebrity names to feature high up on the list.

While some people pop up on the list year after year, this is the first time Harry Potter actress Emma has charted. She’s praised as a Pioneer for her United Nations campaign on gender equality and is one of only four Brits named in the whole thing.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kanye West has been named this year’s top Titan thanks to his ability to cause creative carnage (and make world news) wherever he goes and the rise and rise of his fashion and music empire.

‘Kanye does think,’ the accompanying profile concludes. ‘Constantly. About everything. And he wants everybody else to do the same: to engage, question, push boundaries.’

Well we can’t argue with that now, can we?

Emma Watson held a Q&A at Facebook's HQ in London as part of her HeForShe campaign. These are the brilliant and inspiring things she had to say.

Emma Watson is fast becoming one of the most inspiring young women in the world. Having launched the HeForShe campaign in 2014, with a speech so rousing and brilliant it went viral, the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Women took part in a Q&A at Facebook's London HQ yesterday to mark International Women's Day.

From chivalry being sexist to that naked photo hoax, these were her five most inspiring moments:

Feminism isn't just for women.

'Men think it’s a women’s word. But what it means is that you believe in equality, and if you stand for equality, then you’re a feminist. Sorry to tell you. You’re a feminist. You’re a feminist. That’s it.'

Women should be chivalrous too.

'I love having the door opened for me,' Emma said talking to host Greg James. 'Isn’t that just polite? Isn’t that just a nice thing to do for someone else? And I love being taken out to dinner. So great. But I think the key is, would you then mind if I open the door for you? Then I’m polite, and you’re polite, then we’re making the world a better place with this small, kind, polite gesture. Chivalry is consensual and only becomes a problem when people expect things to be certain way and follow status quo.'

The HeForShe campaign isn’t about men rescuing women.

'I think that’s a misunderstanding. Women are already in the club, because it’s our movement. It’s an equality club, for both genders. It’s about men coming in support of women and women coming in support of men. Gloria Steinem gave a speech last week at a HeForShe event in New York, and she used this really beautiful metaphor. She said that the human race is like a bird and it needs both of its wings to be able to fly. And at the moment, one of its wings is clipped. And we’re never going to be able to fly as high unless we’re both in support of each other.'

Gender inequality begins when we're children.

'I think it starts young with girls and boys being told what they have to be. It can be really damaging. It’s a problem with education and I hope, in the not too distant future, we will be horrified rather than mildly irked. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do or achieve. Do what you want to do and be who you want to be. Just encourage and include each other, don’t ostracise the gender in front of you.'

Britain is not leading by example when it comes to gender equality.

'Britain is meant to be one of biggest most progressive democracies in world, we should be leading the way but we’re straggling behind. After I gave my speech [at the UN] there was a website threatening to release naked pictures of me. I knew it was a hoax but I think a lot of people that were close to me knew gender equality was an issue but didn’t think it was that urgent, that it was a thing of the past. I was raging, it made me so angry, I was like, this is why I have to be doing this. If anything, if they were trying to put me off it, it did the opposite.'

Emma Watson doesn't need to marry a prince to be a princess. And neither do you.

The internet has been awash with gossip recently that Emma Watson is secretly dating Prince Harry. The Harry Potter actress could have easily maintained a stony silence about the silly rumours - she'd be well within her rights - but instead she chose to use the attention to shine a light on feminism.

The UN Ambassador for Women used Twitter to dismiss the rumours and to make a well-timed point about gender equality. She wrote: ''WORLD ♥ Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!' Followed by a link to a scene from the 1995 movie A Little Princess with the caption: 'Also... marrying a Prince not a prerequisite for being a Princess.'

A perfect comeback that earned her nearly 55K retweets.

The #HeForShe campaigner has been owning social media over the last few days. On Oscars day she posted a photo of a handwritten note she'd sent to actor Steve Carrell after he wore #HeForShe cufflinks to the Academy Awards.

In the heartfelt letter, she wrote: 'You were pure genius in Little Miss Sunshine (one of my all time favorite films), my brother became obsessed with you after Anchorman, I wanted to marry you or have you adopt me after Crazy, Stupid, Love, I hated that guy you played in The Way Way Back, and then you were mind-blowing in Foxcatcher.

'I think you're so awesome and today you are wearing #HeForShe Monique Péan cufflinks at the Oscars to support Gender Equality. Couldn't be more proud! THANK YOU.'

Emma Watson is to play Belle in a new live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast - and we don't think we can think of a more perfect actress for the role.

'I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! The original Disney animation was released way back in 1991 and was the first animated film to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. The title song, Beauty and the Beast took home the award for Best Song.

Filming on the new Beauty and the Beast starts later this year and will see Twilight director Bill Condon at the helm.

Emma Watson, on behalf of UN Women, unveiled the next stage of the HeForShe campaign at the World Economic Forum in Davos yesterday. Let us introduce the HeForShe IMPACT 10X10X10.

The HeForShe campaign’s IMPACT 10X10X10 initiative is a one-year project that aims to work with governments, big corporations and universities that are in positions to have huge influence on women's empowerment and gender equality.

The World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2014 confirmed that there is still a large gap between men and women in terms of political engagement and workplace equality and that little has changed since 2006.

With that in mind, the global leaders of HeForShe's new initiative are made up of key influencers from the worlds of politics, business and education. They include: Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands; President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone; Prime Minister Stefan Löfven of Sweden; Mr. Paul Polman, CEO and Chairman of Unilever; Rick Goings, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tupperware Brands Corporation; and Dennis Nally, Chairman, PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd.

'The groundswell of response we have received in support for HeForShe tells us we are tapping into what the world wants: to be a part of change. Now we have to channel that energy into purposeful action. The pilot initiative provides that framework. Next we need all country leadership, as well as that of hundreds of universities and corporations to follow HeForShe’s IMPACT 10x10x10 so as to bring an end to the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally,' said Emma Watson at the World Economic Forum.

The actress is set to star in a musical comedy called La La Land.

Emma Watson's next movie project is a big one. The Harry Potter actress is set to star in a musical comedy called La La Land. Think Singin’ In The Rain meets Gentleman Prefer Blondes. Ambitious, non?

This is what we know so far:

1. It's being directed by the guy behind the Oscar-nominted Whiplash. Director Damien Chazelle has called this his 'passion project,' telling the Telegraph: 'I’ve been trying to get it off the ground since I lived in LA, in the past five or six years. I wrote the script about four years ago, and I worked with the same guy who did the music on Whiplash. We wrote it four years ago and we were just trying to convince someone to do an original, MGM-style musical, because I don’t think there are enough.'

2. Emma Watson will play Mia, an aspiring actress alongside Miles Teller's, who plays the drummer in Whiplash, aspiring jazz musician. The two fall in love in Los Angeles but soon discover that staying in love in such a cutthroat city isn't easy.

3. Described as a song-and-dance romance, we can expect to see Emma Watson try out some choreography as well as flexing her vocal chords. Amazing.

4. The music in the film will have a huge jazz influence, but has also been inspired by the likes of previous Hollywood musical films such as Singin’ In The Rain, The Star is Born, Gentleman Prefer Blondes and Meet Me in St Louis.

5. Filming will start in March.

Victoria Beckham The designer, who has been her eponymous label’s best ambassador for many a season wore a look from her AW ‘14 collection to collect her award for Brand of the Year. In true Victoria style, she wore it better than the runway model, streamlining the oversized black sweater and black-and-white pleated skirt with pushed-up sleeves, a visible chain-link belt, and her signature pose.

Emma Watson The 2014 British Style Award winner worked her signature masculine-feminine vibe to perfection in a Misha Nonoo Spring 2015 white, wide-legged jumpsuit covered by an oversized long black tuxedo jacket. Effortlessly cool, we love.

Laura Bailey Simple yet bold in a shocking pink Emilia Wickstead dress, Laura Bailey’s look was one of our favourites of the night. The model gets extra marks for giving a masterclass in covering up on the red carpet.

Alexa Chung Continuing the trend for prim and proper red carpet dressing, Alexa Chung stunned in a collared Emilia Wickstead frock with subtle front split. But what really stole our hearts was Alexa’s Charlotte Olympia Chinese takeaway style box bag with intricate beadi embellishment. The perfect party bag, don’t you think?

Cara Delevingne The Model of the Year flew in from Austria especially or the evening and despite her packed schedule, managed to pull off two stand-out looks during the night. The first being a sequin Burberry gown with thigh-high split which was perfect for the red carpet ‘do. But it was her after-party sparkly Tom Ford cocktail dress which really won us over. And Kendall got top marks too for skewing the traditional dress formula in her Emilio Pucci jumpsuit.

Karlie Kloss Karlie Kloss dashed across town following her Victoria’s Secret show rehearsals and literally did her make-up in a cab. Not that you could tell. The supermodel looked flawless as she arrived at the British Fashion Awards and cut an ultra-glam profile in a metallic backless gown that cascaded down her statuesque frame. We die.

Olivia Palermo Olivia Palermo confirmed the trend for below-the-knee silhouettes in an Emilia Wickstead front-slit ball gown skirt from the British designers SS15 collection. Teamed with a sparkly black top, it’s her pointed courts and animal print clutch which added an understated, cool spin that only Olivia could pull off.

Rita Ora Anyone who dares to pull of this look gets our vote. The British singer arrived with Tom Ford in this bold look from his SS15 runway. Featuring an embellished black leather top, side cut-outs and sheer midriff paneling, the slit-to-there gown had all the rebel swagger we’d expect from Rita.

Rihanna Rihanna made a surprise appearance for close friend and collaborator Edward Enningul. The star wore a velvet over-sized Stella McCartney blazer - and not much else. Her diamond choker, tassled clutch and barely-there make-up made up for a unique look that ensured she stood out.

The Supers While the evening attracted a bevy of new and up-and-coming models and talent, no fashion awards would be complete with some much-need glamour brought in from the well-honed Supers Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. While Naomi wowed in a custom Alexander McQueen blue embroidered gown, Kate went uber short in a kimono dress also by McQueen. 

Emma won the BAFTA British Artist of the Year award.

The lovely Emma Watson was honoured at BAFTA's 2014 Britannia Awards in Beverly Hills last night.

The actress led the Brit pack, which included Dame Judi Dench, Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones (Eddie and Felicity are both currently wowing critics with their performances in The Theory of Everything), Jenna Coleman, Downton's Allen Leech and Jeremy Irvine, at the bash wearing Balenciaga.

Emma, 24, completely nailed her red carpet turn in black cigarette pants and a semi-sheer white off-the-shoulder top complete with a flirty frill. Love. She teamed her Balenciaga look with Jennifer Fisher heels and a Rauwolf box clutch.

Extra mentions need to go to her gold back-to-front necklace by Jennifer Meyer and her her fuschia lip. Just so damn perfect.

The Harry Potter star, who recently impressed with her UN Women's HeForShe speech, picked up the prestigious Brittania Award for British Artist of the Year at the event.

We think it's safe to say our girl crush on Ms Watson is growing ever stronger.

Emma's definition of feminism is spot-on, says Taylor

Emma Watson has received tons of support following her powerful speech about gender equality and the kick-off of the HeForShe campaign. Her latest cheerleader? Taylor Swift.

Speaking on French Canadian TV show Tout le Monde en Parle, Taylor praised the actress's efforts as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, explaining how moved she was by Emma’s determination to bring awareness of issues such as the equal pay gap and forced marriage, to a wider, global audience.

'I wish when I was 12 years old, I had been able to watch a video of my favourite actress explaining in such an intellectual, beautiful, poignant way the definition of feminism,’ Taylor explained, ‘Because I would have understood it and then earlier on in my life I would have proudly claimed that I was a feminist.'

'I just think that a lot of girls don’t know the definition and the fact that Emma got up and explained it, I think it’s an incredible thing and I am happy to live in a world where that happened.'

Emma launched the HeForShe campaign at the United Nations’s New York headquarters just over a week ago, and has already gained support from both male and female celebrities including Matt Damon, Douglas Booth and Cara Delevingne.

Fashion house Chanel also got behind Emma, who is one of the brand’s front-row regulars, on Tuesday, by sending a supermodel army of feminist protestors (complete with HeForShe placards and coordinating handbags) down their SS15 runway.

'It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals,’ Emma said in her address to the United Nations conference. We should stop defining each other by what we are not, and start defining ourselves by who we are.'

'The more I spoke about feminism, the more I realised that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain is that this has to stop.'

‘When they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won’t be compelled to be submissive. If men don’t need to control, women won’t have to be controlled. Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong.’

Emma Watson visited Uruguay to deliver a petition calling for a greater representation of women in politics.

In her first job as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson flew to Uruguay to call for a greater representation of women in politics.

The actress was in Uruguay's capital, Montevideo, to deliver a petition from the HeForShe campaign that's working to promote gender equality and the promotion of women in politics, and is supported by the UN Women's equality fund.

The 24-year-old spoke at Parliament, via a translator, and was applauded by Uruguay's Vice President Danilo Astori and the director of the UN Women Programme Division Gulden Turkoz-Cosslett.

Clearly, the Harry Potter actress was a big draw for the young people of Uruguay, with hundreds turning up at Legislative Palace to get a glimpse of the star.

Of her important role as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma said: 'I was immensely touched to see so many young people outside the parliament here in Uruguay.

'At the back of the room there were five young women, probably under the age of 17, who were holding a banner that said, "Say yes to more women in politics".

'To see this kind of participation is why I'm here. It's why I've come to Uruguay and why I want to work with UN Women.

'Thankfully, I have this platform and I'm able to shine a light on these issues, which are really important to me and this is what I want to continue to do and what I believe in passionately.'

Emma Watson has has been named the UN's newest Goodwill Ambassador. Not bad for her first job out of uni...

Emma Watson has just landed her first job after university and it’s pretty amazing. We thought the young actress couldn't possibly get anymore fabulous. We were wrong. 

Emma's just been named the Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s gender-equality arm, UN Women. Just a month after she graduated from Brown University in the US, she’s landed the humanitarian gig and will be working on a gender equality campaign HeForShe.

Following in Angelina Jolie's footsteps as a Goodwill Ambassador, the starlet said:

‘Being asked to serve as UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador is truly humbling. The chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly. Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting,’ Emma said.

The Hollywood starlet who has been on such a high recently has been keeping one foot on the ground as she starts her new role.

‘I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role.’

Not bad for a first job out of Uni. (Aside from her mammoth acting career, of course). We’re glad to see she’ll be putting her intellect as well as her global influence to good use.

Hermione Granger for Draco Malfoy? No thanks...

While millions of hearts around the world have fallen under Emma Watson’s spell, the Harry Potter star revealed that her first crush was in fact co-star Tom Felton.

The British actress, who of course played Hermione Granger in the films, says that she developed a crush on Felton, aka Hogwarts villain Draco Malfoy, during the filming of the first two Harry Potter films back in 2001 and 2002. At the time, the child actors were aged 11 and 13 respectively.

‘He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it [and] we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that’s cool,' she told Seventeen.

She also said of the dating game: ‘I’m so impatient – it’s one of my worst traits. If I want to see someone, I want to see them, and if I don’t, then I don’t. My friends are always telling me I have to play hard to get because I'll pretty much say to a guy, "I like you – let's go hang out."

'But my friends are like, 'You can’t do that! You have to string this guy along.''

Nowadays, Emma is actually much more private about her relationships; she recently revealed in an interview why she never talks about her boyfriend.

If you ask us, we're very glad that the pair didn't get together – that would have thrown a major spanner in the works for Hermione and Ron's relationship.

HUGE congratulations are in order for Emma Watson, who graduated from Brown University this Sunday.

The über-talented 24-year old received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the American Ivy League school and showed her enthusiasm for the momentous event by posting a selfie in her cap and gown, captioned ‘!’.

Watson has managed to balance her education and very established Hollywood career incredibly well. She enrolled at Brown in Rhode Island in 2009, and after taking some time off to film movies like Noah, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the final Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows: Part Two, she can add a degree in English from one of America’s most prestigious universities to her CV.

The world-famous actress didn't always find blending in at university easy, though, she told The Sunday Times:

'On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned around to look at me... I had to say to myself: "It's OK, you can do this. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage".'

Watson wasn’t alone during the ceremony, at which 2,000 other students received their diplomas. She sat sandwiched between her mother, Jacqueline Luesby, and an armed bodyguard, also in academic attire, who tried to blend into the graduating class of 2014. We think the gun strapped to her waist might have given it away though...

Emma Watson took a bit of a style risk at the Duke of Cambridge's charity dinner last night - and it paid off.

The 24-year-old Noah star chose a classic Ralph Lauren ensemble, wearing a timeless white shirt with a beautifully draped grey skirt and a skinny white belt. She wore her hair loosely pulled back and added carried a metallic Roger Vivier clutch.

The crisp-collared shirt and full skirt combination tends to be a more mature look. But not in this case.

Maybe it's her deep burgundy lips or her edgy ear cuff - but instead of looking middle-aged, Emma managed to make the ensemble cool and fresh.

Oh, how cruel puberty can be. We can only thank God our's wasn’t televised. Imagine if that outfit you’d worn aged fourteen to your cousin's wedding was on record? Doesn’t bear thinking about does it? Well, Emma Watson’s every style move on the red carpet has been monitored and she’s come a long way. Gone are the boot cuts, micro fleeces, feather boas and snakesin boots of 2003 (we've all been there): enter the couture Dior and the made-to-measure Rodarte.

Here’s a run down of the Emma Watson’s finest red carpet looks:

1. The Burberry mini dress

This frock signaled the beginning of Watson’s fashion takeover. It was 2009 and already she was the face of Burberry. We should have realised then that this was a major turning point. This little cocktail number was embellished, gold, tiny and custom-made by Christopher Bailey.

2. That Oscar de la Renta gown

For the premiere of the final Harry Potter film in 2011, Emma Watson stepped things up. Wearing a grey, tulle Oscar de la Renta gown, she looked every inch the old-school siren. It wasn’t just a new dress Emma was trying out, though, her pixie crop had us rushing to book a hair appointment. Hermione, who?

3. Dress-over-trousers

Stepping away from the Harry Potter franchise Emma starred in the off-beat Perks of Being a Wallflower in 2012. For the premiere she plumped for an impossibly chic couture Dior creation. A black ensemble that appeared to be a mini-cocktail dress over tailored trousers. It was edgy and experimental, but undeniably classic, and SO ahead of the curve (skirts over trousers are back for 2014 FYI).

4. That Balenciaga crop

What did Emma wear to the GQ Man of The Year Awards? A look so fierce it would have most men quivering, of course. Embracing the midriff trend she worked an architectural Balenciaga crop top, loose black trousers and barely-there make up.

5. Watson goes punk

For the punk themed Met Ball in 2013, Emma left the theatrics to Sarah Jessica Parker et al and donned her most revealing look yet: a slashed Prabal Gurung gown that screamed grown-up style. Watson's takeover was in full swing. 

6. Dress-over-trousers: The sequel

Emma took a real risk at a huge awards ceremony… and it worked. In a see of prom queen style gowns, Emma stood out in a Dior masterpiece. A slashed up backless dress over perfect black cigarette trousers, with a clashing cobalt court, proved Emma Watson’s credentials as a fashion crusader.

7. White-out

For the premiere of Noah last month Emma chose a white Ralph Lauren gown with a minimalist high-neck inspired by the 90s. A perfectly relaxed updo, floating jewels and white stiletto made this picture perfect. Dull on anyone else, cutting edge on the Watsmeister.

Emma Watson has been treating us to one gorgeous red carpet look after another as she promotes her upcoming film Noah.

But we're very pleased to report that she saved the best look for her London fans.

The 23-year-old British actress made a stunning arrival for the London Noah premiere on Monday night. She chose a white Ralph Lauren Collection halter dress that perfectly showcased her trim figure.

Emma paired the dress with a simple pair of pointy-toed courts - which, thanks to the gown's sexy slit, were in full view when she walked. She accessorised the look with two matching silver Jennifer Fisher cuffs.

In the Biblical story, Emma plays an orphan - but she may soon be playing a mermaid.

Rumours have been flying that she'll be the one taking on the role of Ariel in Sofia Coppola's live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. Emma addressed the gossip on the red carpet Monday.

'I'd be really intrigued to read a script,' she told The Telegraph.

The actress also commented on the casting rumours at the New York City premiere last week. 'I actually dressed up as Ariel for my fifth birthday,' she joked. 'I mean I'd have to read it first. I love Sofia so much.'

When we first saw Emma in this black, slightly gothic Oscar de la Renta ballgown, we were a little confused. The covered-up look was bordering on drab. But when she turned to the side, we saw the wow factor was coming from behind.

The deep V down the back of her dress adds just the right amount of drama. And that silver ear cuff adds an ever-so-subtle punk twist.

Emma Watson has proven that Angelina Jolie isn't the only actress who can rock a classic trouser suit.

The 23-year-old British actress has been on a style roll lately, as she promotes her upcoming film Noah. And she hit another fashion high note in New York City on Tuesday.

Dressed in a black Saint Laurent suit with slim cropped trousers, Emma looked sophisticated and sexy. But we couldn't help but think immediately of the strikingly similar Saint Laurent tuxedo that Angie wore to the BAFTAs last month.

With its satin side stripe and undone bowtie, Angie's look was a bit more dressed-up than Emma's - which make sense, considering she wore it for a formal awards show. But the rolled up sleeves and unbuttoned shirt definitely added a sexy, laid-back feel.

Meanwhile, Emma kept her look completely buttoned-up and pulled it all together with a sleek updo.

But the actresses paired their suits with almost identical black shoes. Guess you just can't beat a patent, pointy-toed heel.

The British actress stunned on the red carpet for the Berlin premiere of her upcoming film Noah on Thursday.

For the glam event, Emma chose a midnight-blue, chiffon Wes Gordon gown with a sheer black overlay and a cinched waist. She swept back her hair and added a swipe of bright-red lippy to add some drama.

But the sweet surprise came when Emma turned her back toward the cameras. A single black bow adorned the racerback dress, its tails cascading down her back, and added a subtle girlie touch to the look.

We've been so impressed by Emma's impeccable style lately (seriously, we're still not over that Golden Globes get-up) that we almost forgot how she can carry a film.

Her latest film Noah has been stirring up drama, drawing negative feedback from both Muslims and Christians for its portrayal of Biblical and Islamic figure Noah, and it's even been banned in the United Arab Emirates.

The 23-year-old Harry Potter star put that Brown University English degree of hers to good use to co-edit the publication's February/March issue. And she also happens to be the magazine's striking cover star... Twice.

Stunning with two very different looks, Emma showed off her sartorial split personality by posing for not one, but two edgy portraits shot by Christian Oita and styled by Matthew Josephs.

In one, dubbed 'Afro Prada Bruiser', the British actress is seen pulling a menacing pout while sporting a crown full of curls, smokey eye make-up and dark, defined brows.

Looking fierce in a canary yellow gem-encrusted frock (Prada, we presume...) Emma Watson proves she can nail high-fashion just as well as high-street as she sheds her good girl image once again.

The second cover sees the Bling Ring actress playing the part of the serene 'Elf Alien Queen', featuring a softer-looking Emma flaunting tumbling waves, a hot berry lip and a dainty princess crown. Gorgeous.

Emma Watson has been spotted looking loved-up in the Caribbean, after squeezing in some last-minute beach time before this weekend's Golden Globe Awards.

And while the thought of Emma returning to the red carpet in LA is enough to keep our excitement ticking over, the Harry Potter star appears to have introduced us her new beau in the meantime.

In new pictures which have emerged today, the Bling Ring beauty is seen cosying up to Oxford University hunk, Matthew Janney.

The pair were linked following Emma Watson's split with Will Adamowicz, which was confirmed by the actress' spokesperson this week: 'Emma and Will separated last summer and are no longer in touch.'

'They didn’t have a care in the world,' one holiday guest told The Mirror. 'Matt was very protective of Emma – often putting his arm around her.

'He was being a gentleman the whole time. He is clearly very much into her, but then who wouldn’t be, she is one of Hollywood’s hottest stars? They couldn’t stop giggling and smiling the whole time.'

Matthew is set to return to Oriel College later this month to finish his degree in languages, while Emma continues to focus on her studies and juggle that little thing called fame. No biggie.

It looks like Emma's new beau would do just as well on the red carpet though, after being named Oxford University's best looking rugby player on the team's Twitter account.

Despite rumours that the pair were close to announcing their engagement, the Harry Potter star is seeing in the new year with a single status.

According to The Mirror, friends close to the British actress say the split is down to her hectic film schedule.

Emma met Will, the son of an American millionaire, when they were both students at Oxford University in 2011, before being pictured together at California’s Coachella Festival in April 2012.

The actress, who’s still best known for her role as Hermoine Granger, was last seen with her ex in November, as they headed to London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire to see Marie Claire faves, The Staves.

Emma’s spokesperson has since confirmed the news: ‘Emma and Will separated last summer and are no longer in touch.’

Not one to talk in-depth about her love life, Emma has previously suggested that men are too scared by her ‘fame wall’ to talk to her.

The 23-year-old has also admitted that she tried to avoid dating famous men as the thought of being part of a celebrity couple makes her nervous.

Meanwhile Emma, who’s in the last year of her English degree at America’s Brown University, is said to be focusing on her exams and even turning down film roles to study.

Reports suggest that the movie cost a whopping $125million – but the trailer doesn't disappoint. With so many famous names we almost lost count, it's set to be a huge hit.

Black Swan's Darren Aronofsky has directed the movie, so we're expecting it to be big news when the film is released in March 2014.

'It just seemed like [the project] was something I had to do, something I’d been waiting for. Livia’s created a lobbying body to put the pressure on governments and corporations to encourage them to have [ethical responsibility] as their baseline. It’s quite awesome.'

Emma Watson doesn't think too highly of the celebrity lifestyle, despite being an A-lister herself.

Talking to the Radio Times while promoting her latest movie, The Bling Ring, the English actress spoke out about the extravagant wardrobe of Paris Hilton, which she had the opportunity to delve into during filming.

But we've a feeling Paris won't be too happy with her comments.

Emma says: 'It’s almost like consumerism as a form of kleptomania. She could never wear all of those clothes and half of them were brand new and still had the price tag on.

'But I suppose she just bought them to have them. We’ve all bought things on impulse but that’s an entirely different thing.'

Emma Watson plays the ringleader of the group, Rachel Lee in the new movie, which is based on the true events of the 'Hollywood Hills Burglars'. The young burglars targeted the homes of Paris Hilton, Audrina Partridge, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, and Megan Fox from 2008 – 2009.

Having witnessed the extravagant wardrobes owned by Paris, which house an extensive footwear collection, Emma has admitted that she's far more down-to-earth, revealing: 'I’ve got about eight pairs of shoes and that’s it.'

She added: 'There’s a whole new definition to celebrity now. And I think that’s why you see a lot of actors blanching at being associated with that word “celebrity” because it’s become something that isn’t really associated with having a craft…

'But it’s easy for me to sound like a total hypocrite because, of course, I’m dressed in designer clothes right now.'

Emma Watson is going back to her roots in 2014 with another fantasy novel movie adaptation, described by fans as the 'female Game of Thrones'

Emma Watson has landed herself an exciting new job – the lead role in another fantasy novel adaptation – described by fans as the 'female Game of Thrones'.

Popular novel Queen Of The Tearling is being taken to the big screen by Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and sees Emma take on the main character, Princess Kelsea Glynn.

Erika Johansen's trilogy is set three centuries after a huge environmental disaster and follows Emma's character as she attempts to reclaim her late mother's throne and the kingdom, the Tearling, from the 'dark magic of the Red Queen'.

The role of 19-year-old Kelsea is said to have been insider by a speech Barack Obama gave back in 2007. We love it already.

Variety reports that the project is still in development while a director and writer are found, but states that Warner Bros. have acquired the rights to the book and are ready to start working on a script.

Harper Collins will publish the trilogy, which starts in early 2014. It describes the story as 'an insightful human story whose heroine is grappling with both the daily realities of coming-of-age and the ethical dilemmas of ruling justly, all while simply trying to stay alive'.

It's also being reported that Emma Watson will serve as an executive producer on the movie. How exciting!

Emma Watson has revealed she thought about leaving the acting profession at the end of the Harry Potter films, after taking time out to reconsider her career.

Just weeks after speaking about her acting insecurities, Emma says she 'considered not being an actress' at all, after putting the franchise to bed in 2011.

In an interview with Total Film, Emma was asked if she had finally left the famous Hogwarts films behind her, as she looked forward to more movie opportunities.

'Kind of - I basically took two years out and stepped as far away from it as I could - I mean the HP films were still coming out but I took time to really try and figure out who I was and what I wanted to do. I even considered not being an actress,' she replied.

Earlier this month, Emma Watson told how she sometimes feels 'unnerved' by her movie success, and still fears her acting is inadequate.

She said: 'It’s called the impostor syndrome. It’s almost like the better I do, the more my feeling of inadequacy actually increases, because I’m just going, "Any moment, someone’s going to find out I’m a total fraud, and that I don’t deserve any of what I’ve achieved. I can’t possibly live up to what everyone thinks I am and what everyone’s expectations of me are."

'It’s weird – sometimes [success] can be incredibly validating, but sometimes it can be incredibly unnerving and throw your balance off a bit, because you’re trying to reconcile how you feel about yourself with how the rest of the world perceives you.'

As the British star prepares to embark on the promotional circuit for her latest movie, The Bling Ring, she's explained how she sometimes feels "unnerved" by her success and what it entails.

She added: "I paint and I draw and I write and I do other things too, and recently some people at school were asking if I’d ever publish any of my [written] work. But I almost feel like I would have to publish it under another name because there's a definition of me out there that feels kind of stuck in the moment when it was formed. I was 15 or 16 then, and I’m now 23.

"I’m not complaining, because people really have given me permission to evolve and have been very supportive of my work outside of Harry Potter. So I don’t feel too suffocated in that sense. But sometimes I’ve felt a little constrained by that idea of who I’m meant to be."

"Every article that’s published about me has some reference to Hogwarts or Hermione or magic or 'What would Harry and Ron say?'"

The star has has confessed that the movie – and Emma's performance – reduced her to tears.

As she takes pride of place on the cover of W, Emma Watson plays up to the vintage look with a side parting and manicured waves worn with a deep red shade over her lips with a warm blush on her cheeks serving to highlight her chiseled cheekbones.

The British star wears a charcoal blazer with a subtle nod to the Eastern trend with floral embellishment throughout although it’s certainly not without the elegant addition of a little flirtation, there’s a belt hat cinches in Emma’s tiny waist and on her slender legs reside fishnet stockings.

To give the look a final flourish Emma Watson wears a sparkling necklace and a seductive red on her nails. Despite such an alluring look the star told the magazine that ‘being sexy never really held any excitement’ for her. But she could have fooled us!

Although determined to prove us wrong Emma added: ‘I wanted to wear a sports bra until I was 22! The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I’ve never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman.’

Jonah Hill jokingly confirmed the Fifty Shades of Grey movie roles on Sunday evening

tThe Fifty Shades of Grey movie roles were jokingly announced on Sunday night at the MTV Movie Awards 2013 as Jonah Hill told the audience he and Emma Watson would be taking on the lead roles in the upcoming film version of the hit books.

As Emma Watson took to the MTV Movie Awards stage to receive her award for Trailblazer, the comedic actor introduced the star before saying: ‘I’m announcing officially that we’ll be starring in the screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.’

And the humour didn’t stop there, he went on to say: ‘My safety word is tangerine. If I say that word you have to stop doing stuff to me.’

The joke comes in the wake of Emma Watson’s denial that she was to star in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, last month the actress tweeted: ‘Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life.’

Jonah Hill isn’t the only celebrity unable to resist joking about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie cast, Sheridan Smith played an April Fools on Twitter recently telling her followers: ‘I'm so excited to tell you that I've been cast as the lead girl in 50 shades of grey opposite Eddie Redmayne, can't wait to start filming!!’

Sadly for disappointed movie fans, Sheridan confessed to the joke shortly afterwards leaving the casting rumours to roll on…
