Princess Diana was a true trailblazer, from her iconic style moments to her determination to be human, never afraid to break royal protocol. 

The late Princess of Wales changed the way royal women give birth, abandoned the royal protocol of wearing gloves so she could have direct contact with people that she met, and even stopped wearing hats, famously saying, "You can’t cuddle a child in a hat."

Even today, the late Princess of Wales and her breaks with protocol are still making headlines, with singer Boy George opening up about a sweet gesture that she made for him and his mother on The Drew Barrymore Show this week.

"The first time I met her, I was asked to be in a line up to meet her at some charity event," singer Boy George told host Drew Barrymore during his appearance on Thursday's show. "And then when the palace official checked the list, I wasn't on it, so they pushed me out of the line."

He continued: "I went over to the bar pretty embarrassed thinking, 'Oh my God. I can't believe I humiliated myself.' And I was standing in that line and [Princess Diana] broke protocol and came over and spoke to me, and she was very sweet."

The former lead singer of Culture Club then went on to explain that Princess Diana also broke protocol that evening to speak to his mother, who was a huge fan of the late Princess of Wales.

"She basically spent 20 minutes talking to my mum," Boy George recalled. "That was what made me fall madly in love with her. Because I said, 'I'm actually not really into the royal family but my mum loves you. Will you meet her?' She met my mum for 20 minutes and was adorable."

Cameron Diaz has given a rare interview about her oh so secret wedding to Benji Madden and shared details of what her new married life is like. Clue; it sounds pretty blissful.

‘We got married in our living room in front of our friends,’ the actress told radio host Andy Cohen of the intimate ceremony. ‘[We] had a little party in our backyard on the tennis court and yeah. Otherwise it would have been something else.’

Cameron and Benji, who married in January 2015, aren’t the only celebrity couple to wed in the total privacy of their own home in the last year or so, as Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux chose to completely surprise their friends when they invited them to a special ‘house party’ last August. Drew Barrymore is the latest Hollywood star to announce her pregnancy in 2013.

Prince George may be quickly growing out of his newborn baby clothes, but the celebrity baby boom is building serious momentum in Hollywood.

Drew’s rep confirmed the rumours to E! News last night, following the actress’ red carpet appearance for the Gucci and LACMA: Art and Film Gala this week.

Having given birth to her first child, Olive, in September 2012, Drew has talked openly about her plans to grow her family with husband Will Kopelman.

'I was an only child, and it was lonely. Some people love it and thrive on the independence, but I want my kids to have other kids around,' she admitted recently.

Giving Kate Middleton’s busy schedule some stiff competition, Drew has been busy juggling her career and parenthood over the past 12 months.

As well as her ongoing charity work and film roles, Drew launched her debut beauty line, The Flower Cosmetics, with a massive 181 new products.

'The beauty venture was a good thing for me to do as I became a parent,' she explained.

Stepping out for the first time since the announcement, Drew was spotted showing off her tiny baby bump in Hollywood yesterday.

Drew joins fellow pregnant stars Kate Winslet, Olivia Wilde and Gwen Stefani.

Drew Barrymore has never tried to hide from her rocky past, and instead of shielding her new daughter, Olive, away from her drug addiction and personal heartache, she wants to tell her all about it when she’s older.

In an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey, that aired on Sunday evening, Drew shared her plans for revealing what she went through saying: ‘I will absolutely instill in her [Olive] that you cannot be ashamed of the journey that it took, you know, to get where you are if you are proud of yourself.

‘But I will also try to instill on her that I did not have guidance and that is why I lived my life that way. And although I am proud of it and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life regretting it, there is no option for her to take that path because she has guidance.'

While Drew Barrymore’s first major film role was in E.T at the age of seven, another role she is dedicating herself to and taking more seriously than any other is motherhood. As she stressed: ‘I will be there at 3pm in the school line waiting to pick her up, that’s first and foremost.

‘I think that’s as a kid what I craved the most, was just believing that was going to be there. Being there in that school line. I think the world offers so many wonderful varieties of obstacles but that shouldn’t be one for kids – is the worry that my parent won’t be there.'

The 37-year-old actress, who has had a joyful year after marrying art director Will Kopelman in June and giving birth to her first child, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, on 26 September, looks blissfully happy in the cover shot as she gazes into her daughter's eyes and introduces her baby girl to the world.

The new mum told People that she has experienced a rollercoaster of emotions since giving birth, saying:

'I couldn't eat or sleep for two weeks, I was just so nervous!

'You have the highest highs and yet you're facing the biggest fear of, "How do I keep someone alive?"

'It's like the biggest crush I've ever had in my life!'

She also revealed to the magazine that her new hubby is helping her provide the loving home she wants for her baby: 'I really wanted a wonderful traditional home for my kid. Will comes from a strong family, he provides a strong family... It just makes me so emotional because it's like a miracle.'

Just last week, Drew told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres how she and Will came up with their baby name:

Newlywed Drew Barrymore looked glowing as she walked the red carpet for the first time since her nuptials at the Los Angeles Film Festival yesterday, but the actress kept her growing baby bump under wraps as she posed for photographers.

The mum-to-be looked radiant in an all-black ensemble at the premiere of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which stars Keira Knightley and Steve Carell.

Considering Drew only wed the dashing Will Kopelman a few weeks ago, we would have expected her to be enjoying a luxurious honeymoon in some far-flung exotic location, but the star looked more than happy to be on the red carpet at the LA event.

Barrymore and Kopelman got hitched at their $5.7 million home in Montecito, California on June 2.

At the time, the 37-year-old star told America's People magazine: 'The day was perfect.

'Everyone we love and care about was there. It was as fun and meaningful as we ever could have hoped.'

When Drew Barrymore tied the knot to fiance Will Kopelman over the weekend, it really was a super-secret affair. But now the newlywed starlet has opened up about her 'perfect' day, releasing the first snap of her stunning Chanel bridal gown.

The actress tied the knot to her art dealer beau in an intimate ceremony at her sprawling ranch in Montecito, California on Saturday.

Celebrity guests reportedly included Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth - who tied the knot themselves last year - Cameron Diaz, Jimmy Fallon and Busy Phillips.

Drew chose Chanel for her big-day bridal gown, a stunning embroidered muslin and organza creation, designed for her by Karl Lagerfeld himself, which skimmed her slim figure and blooming baby bump.

And clearly, the blushing bride could not have been happier.

'The day was perfect,' Drew gushed to People magazine. 'Everyone we love and care about was there. It was fun and meaningful as we could ever have hoped.'

According to the couple's wedding planner Yifat Oren, the actress 'just wanted a backyard wedding,' and chose a 'vintage romantic"-themed fete,' creating an 'ethereal' feel for guests.

It's thought vows were exchanged under rose and lace adorned Chuppah during the traditional ceremony, while Drew carried a bouquet of pink roses and peonies.

According to insiders, guests feasted on lobster rolls, pork buns and foie gras and danced the night away to an 80s-themed band.

Celebrations over, the happy couple left in classic Mercedes, bedecked with roses and streamers, and spend the night at a nearby, luxury hotel.

The pregnant actress is set for a June wedding

Pregnant Drew Barrymore and fiance Will Kopelman's June wedding plans have been revealed.

The 37-year-old actress will wed Kopelman on June 2 in a 'personal and intimate' ceremony at her Montecito estate in California, according to US reports.

The loved-up couple shared their happy news with friends at a special party held at the home of Leonard Goldberg, the producer of Charlie's Angels, according to Us Weekly.

A source told the magazine: 'Everyone was doting on pregnant Drew and asking her how she is feeling. She is so thrilled to be expecting, and also really excited about the wedding.'

Another source also told E! Online: 'She wants it to be very personal and intimate. She wants to do it right and be surrounded by family and friends.'

And in keeping with the traditional values of Kopelman's family, their rabbi is expected to conduct the service.

'She wants to get married before her bump gets too big, but it's important to her to marry before she gives birth,' the source added. 'Drew and Will have spent a lot of time talking to his family about ways to make the ceremony special.'

'Will is such an incredible man for her. They adore [each other] and are always together. He's a good guy and he's going to be a great father.'

Although Drew is yet to actually confirm her pregnancy, the actress has been showing off her bump since she was spotted leaving a doctor's office holding a baby scan in February.

The actress showed off her engagement ring alongside fiance Will Kopelman at the premiere of Big Miracle

She announced her engagement to Will Kopelman just a few weeks ago, and now we’ve been given the first glimpse of Drew Barrymore’s engagement ring as the couple walked the red carpet together at her latest film premiere.

The sweet duo were all smiles as they posed for snaps together at the Washington screening of Drew’s new film, the whale-based drama Big Miracle.

All eyes were on the actress as she made her first public appearance with her fiancé since announcing her engagement at the beginning of January.

Drew opted for a printed long-sleeved dress by Ports 1961 for her premiere styling, which she teamed with large hoop earrings and, of course, that ring – a large sparkling diamond design. Art consultant Will, meanwhile, looked suitably suave in a classic charcoal grey suit.

The couple, who have been dating since early 2011, revealed that they were engaged after Will popped the question to Drew in Sun Valley, Idaho over the Christmas holidays.

The marriage will be Drew’s third time down the aisle. In 1994 she wed British bartender Jeremy Thomas and filed for divorce just two months later, and she married comedian Tom Green in 2001, before splitting the next year.

'I just have all these things I want to do - things that beautifully and vividly encompass me - but I never sat down and worked it out'.

On her love life, Drew remains decidedly coy. She'll neither confirm nor deny whether she and on/off boyfriend Justin Long are dating - 'a little mystery never hurt anyone,' - but she talks like a single woman looking for answers. 'I'm happy to say that, at 35 years old, I feel I know less than ever,' she told us with a smile.

But she does, however, maintain that technology has ruined romance. 'I just don’t like this compulsive, instantaneous, over-information, lack-of-privacy, weirdo aspect of the world,' she revealed.

‘If you meet someone they already know everything. What about showing up on a date and saying, ‘What do you do for a living? Who are your friends?'

Above everything, Drew says that she just wants to be present and to really understand what makes her happy. 'I have absolutely nothing to complain about,' she says.

'I'm always trying to educate myself about the world or do philanthropic things or drop everything if someone I care about needs me. Do I always manage to get the balance right? Fuck no, but I'm trying.'

It takes a brave woman to step out on the red carpet in nude, but both Drew Barrymore and Emily Blunt have taken up the sartorial challenge, tapping the trend in matching Dolce & Gabbana dresses.

First up, Drew took the hot seat on The Tonight Show in the strapless bow-front number. A tricky hue to pull off, she added a welcome flash of colour with raspberry lips, and accessorised with metallic heels and a silver drop necklace.

Ms Blunt's Dolce style fix came last week, as she stepped out for an awards ceremony in LA. Letting her dress do the talking, she continued on a nude theme, adding two-tone T-bars, a gold clutch and minimal gems.

After channelling Roaring Twenties glamour earlier this week, last night Drew Barrymore skipped forward a few decades to become a Sixties boho babe. The 34-year-old actress was on the promotion trail, yet again, for movie Grey Gardens, but we have to say, we're just not getting bored of the ever-charming Ms Barrymore. Unlike other A-listers, she never seems to take her style too seriously.

And so we came to last night. Working the red carpet, she stepped out in a stunning Andrew GN white maxi dress, with an exquisitely beaded neckline, and accessorised with some serious statement gems (note the oversized aqua cuff, jade Badgley Mischka drop earrings and her Lucifer Vir Honestus turquoise bauble ring.)

 As we've come to expect from Drew, she seriously worked the hair and make-up.

Her blonde locks were teased into voluminous tousled curls, while continuing on the Sixties theme, her make-up was minimal, with sultry cat eye flicked liner and pale pink lips.

Drew Barrymore takes a style step back in time for premiere

Taking a style step back in time last night, Drew Barrymore looked every inch the old school Hollywood star for the premiere of new movie, Grey Gardens. Glimmering in a floor length Alberta Ferretti nude gown, the actress wowed as she shared the red carpet with co-stars Jessica Lange and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

It was the finishing touches that really made her look though. Side swept pin curls topped off with a netted flower hair pin, added a high dose of 20s glamour, while a bewelled clutch and Roger Vivier heels proved the perfect compliments to her stunning gown.

Even her make-up reflected the chic retro style; soft smoky eyes, with plenty of smudgy black kohl liner, and her slick ruby red pout brought a pop of colour to the otherwise neutral look.

Set to be shown on US TV network HBO, Grey Gardens is based on the lives of the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jackie Onassis, both named Edith Bouvier Beale, and nicknamed Big and Little Edie. The pair led the life of Park Avenue debutantes, before withdrawing from New York society, and retreating to their Long Island summer home, Grey Gardens.

Drew Barrymore sizzles as she talks rehab, her ex and her estranged mum

Drew Barrymore lights up the latest cover of W magazine – in a tousled, Bardot kinda way – in one of her sexiest shoots to date – and opens up about her time in rehab, her ex, and her estranged mum.

The actress/producer has recently taken a departure from her easy-to-watch rom-com movies, and is set to play a darker character – ‘Little Edie’ Beale – in upcoming flick Grey Gardens.

The pretty blonde says channelling her inner turmoil was quite cathartic – and reminded her of her time in rehab as a wayward child.

‘I got institutionalized as a kid, and I felt like I was back there,’ she explains. ‘A lot of times I found myself unhappy and isolated, and the only other time I felt that way was when I was in there.

‘It was absolutely trying to relearn to live. You are learning to become someone else.'

She continued: ‘I was excited to bring my own pain to something. I mean, contrary to my happy-go-luckiness, I have so much darkness in there.

‘Playing Edie, I felt like s***. I thought, “I'm afraid beyond anything I've ever known. I'm miserable; I'm scared; I feel sick all the time." And I was like, “Good! At least I have somewhere to put it.” You know what? I'm not f***in' happy all the time. I like making people feel good, but it was great not to have to please anybody. I was out there for myself and for her.’

Talk turned to love and, inevitably, her five-year relationship with The Strokes star Fabrizio Moretti, which she describes as: ‘One of the most, if not the most, important relationships I've had in my life.

‘We're still very close. I'm just learning who I am and how relationships work and how to make them function. No different from anyone else.’

And what about the troubled relationship with her mum? ‘My mother and I split ways when I was very young and have never really reconciled.’

First we saw Cameron Diaz take part in a hilarious dance-off on the new Jimmy Fallon show in the US, and now he has managed to get Drew Barrymore licking a dirty bowling ball on live TV.

The actress was the latest big name guest on the new chat show and being the good sport that she is, took part in the 'Lick it for Ten' gag, where the guest has to lick a surprise object for $10.

The He's Just Not That Into You star seemed pretty excited about the challenge, saying that she needed the ten dollars for cab fare.

But as the host whipped out the pink bowling ball we couldn't help but think that Drew got off rather lightly – after all, it could have been a whole lot worse!

Drew Barrymore to donate $1 million to charity

Generous Drew Barrymore announced on Monday's Oprah show that she is set to give a personal donation of $1 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to help feed children in Africa.

The 33-year-old Charlie's Angel has worked with the charity since 2005, and she became an Ambassador Against Hunger last year. She's taken two trips to Africa to see first-hand the work the organisation are doing.

She told People magazine: 'I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child's life.

'It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future.'

WFP Executive Director Josette Sheeran, who also appeared on Oprah, said: 'We have a dream ... to feed another 10 million hungry school children in Africa by Thanksgiving Day.'

Meanwhile, it seems Drew's kind-hearted nature hasn't gone unnoticed by boyfriend Justin Long, who gushed over his girlfriend while sitting in the Oprah audience.

When Winfrey asked him what he liked about Drew, he replied: 'She smells good, she's beautiful, and funny. The most compassionate person I've ever met.'

Barrymore confirmed how serious the couple are by explaining: 'When you grow up … you decide what you want to be,' and said her relationship with Long was 'healthy, productive, supportive and full of humour.'

Drew's best pal, Cameron Diaz – whom she calls 'Poo' – even made an telephone appearance on the show, and stated that she was 'choked up' and 'so proud' of Drew's donation.

Drew barrymore has revealed a new love interest.

Known in the States at the 'Mac Guy' for his appearances in the Apple computer adverts, Justin Long is the new man in Drew's life.

The pair are co-stars in forthcoming movie He's Just Not That Into You and were spotted on Labor Day in Las Vegas at Jet Nightclub 'all over each other and making out the entire time.'

Drew and Justin were first spotted together last month at LA hotel Chateau Marmont and later seen at a popular sushi restaurant dining with friends.

According to a source close to Drew, 'the relationship is very new'.

Reps for both the stars declined to comment on the relationship.
