Last night saw the 2026 TV BAFTAs, with the television awards with P&O Cruises celebrating the last year on screen.

And from British favourites Toxic Town, Amandaland and Film Club, to international offerings including The White Lotus and The Studio, this year's nominees were truly star-studded.

Adolescence emerged as the big winner of the night, picking up four awards in the Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Limited Drama categories. And not far behind were The Celebrity Traitors and Last One Laughing, picking up two awards each.

Last night saw the 2026 British Academy Film Awards, with A-listers descending on London's BAFTA red carpet to celebrate the past year in film.

And in a surprise move, Prince William and Princess Kate made an appearance at the star-studded ceremony, attending the awards together for the first time since 2023.

It was not known in advance whether the Prince and Princess of Wales would be attending the 2026 awards. Particularly given the recent royal controversy, with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office last week.

And while the future King and Queen were all smiles at the BAFTAs, body language experts have weighed in on the royal couple's visible "anxiety," noting a "handful of tells that might reflect the undeniable tensions of the past week."

"[The Prince and Princess] walk side by side with their arms hanging loose at their sides," body language expert Judi James reported to HELLO!. "A closeness of the dangling inner hands [suggests] a desire to clasp hands here or perhaps to perform the kind of signature truncated touches, pats and strokes they often give each other to support each other at events like this.

"Instead of touching, though, we can see the fingers of William's right hand slightly curled so that his index finger touches his thumb, hinting at a self-soothe ritual," she added, noting that William's "lips [were] pulled inward and his brows pulled into a small frown, suggesting some anxiety".

This is something the future King also spoke publicly about during the event, confirming that he was not in "a calm state".

The Prince and Princess of Wales have not directly commented on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest. However they did issue a rare statement expressing their concern at the unfolding revelations from the Epstein files, earlier this month.

"I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations," announced a spokesperson on behalf of the royal couple.

Sunday saw the 79th British Academy Film Awards, with A-listers from Kate Hudson to Paul Mescal descending on the BAFTAs red carpet to celebrate the past year in film.

And from the royal appearances to the night's big winners, the award ceremony made headlines from start to finish.

Among the most talked-about attendees of the night were Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, with the 30-year-old actor nominated for his leading role in sports drama Marty Supreme.

And with the notoriously private A-list couple attending the ceremony together, their award season appearance went viral online.

It was their red carpet non-appearance that made the most headlines however, with Chalamet arriving at the ceremony and posing for photographs solo.

Jenner seemingly chose not to walk the red carpet with her partner, arriving in secret through a different entrance and meeting Chalamet inside the Royal Festival Hall venue.

Fans were quick to question this decision, with many social media followers hoping for photographs of a joint red carpet appearance.

However, this is not uncommon for the celebrity couple, with Jenner often skipping red carpets with Chalamet for two important reasons.

Firstly, according to a report by The Mirror, Jenner doesn't want to steal the spotlight from Chalamet and his work, attending in a private capacity to support her boyfriend.

And secondly, the A-list couple is known to protect their privacy, with a source telling Grazia Daily that they choose not to walk red carpets together in order to keep their work separate from their private relationship.

"Kylie is determined to keep her love life private," a source has previously explained to The Daily Mail about the couple's move to protect their relationship.

"Theirs is a more private relationship in which they can be as normal a couple as is possible considering their levels of fame."

"I have to live my life," Jenner has added when asked about the media attention around her in an episode of The Kardashians. "I can’t live for whatever everyone else wants me to do. I just have to try to do what’s best for me every day.

"I know that fame has absolutely shaped me from experiencing these things since I was 9," she continued. "But I guess I also wouldn’t know who I would be today without growing up like this. I’m just navigating through life."

Among them were A-listers Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal, with the celebrity couple going viral as they made their official red carpet debut.

Abrams, 26, and Mescal, 29, have been dating since 2024. However, despite the buzz around them, the Normal People star and Close to you singer are notoriously private, rarely appearing together in public.

The BAFTAs therefore marked a major relationship milestone, with the A-list couple attending the ceremony together and posing for photographs on the red carpet for the first time.

Mescal was nominated in the supporting actor category at the 2026 BAFTAs, for his portrayal of William Shakespeare in Chloé Zhao's Hamnet.

And Abrams was there to support her partner of two years, with the Tough Love singer making a rare comment about Mescal and his film work earlier this year.

"I’ve found it nearly impossible to find the words to describe the weight of this film and the way it has remained in my bones since I saw it for the first time," Abrams wrote in a social media statement about Mescal's work in Hamnet.

"But we are sat in the kitchen right now and I am looking back on these pictures and got immediately teary, so I’m just going to say that Chloe is singular. Jessie is singular. Paul is singular. Also I love him - surprise."

Mescal has also spoken publicly about their relationship in recent months, describing their romance as "deeply precious" when asked about their decision to go Instagram official last year.

"The speculation has been kind of mad," Mescal has previously explained in an interview with GQ. "I'm not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life. How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it's not public-obligated information."

Tonight, Sunday 22nd February, is set to be the biggest night in the British film industry’s calendar, as movie stars from across the globe descend on Royal Festival Hall in anticipation of the 79th annual Bafta Film Awards.

The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards are officially here. And with celebrities descending on London's Royal Festival Hall to celebrate the past year in television, this evening promises to be one for the ages.

The prestigious award ceremony will celebrate both those in front of and behind the camera, with a whopping 29 BAFTAs to be presented over the course of the two hour ceremony, hosted this year by Alan Cummings.

It is the BAFTA TV Awards' red carpet that undoubtedly gets the world talking the most, with the annual ceremony renowned for its show-stopping couture and memorable fashion moments.

At last night’s EE BAFTA after-parties, lingerie was the winning look.

You might’ve thought that after Bianca Censori’s very literal take on the naked dress trend, red-carpet fashion would take a more subdued turn. You would be wrong.

Once reserved for the confines of the bedroom, underwear as outerwear has established itself as not only a trend but a wholly appropriate outfit with corsets, bralettes, and dainty slips being styled as standalone pieces. Alexa Chung, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Marie Claire UK cover star Zoe Saldana challenged the conventional rules of dress with very different takes on lingerie.

In the case of the eternally cool, Alexa Chung, this looked like frothy layers of lace and powder blue chiffon (a nod to co-host Tiffany’s, perhaps). The babydoll outfit hit just the right note of Victoriana, surprisingly lending what was essentially underwear, a more chaste finish. Glossy waves and Perspex Cinderella-like stilettos completed the look.

By contrast, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took a vampier approach in a black leather body and feathery stole, while Bel Powley struck a retro note by layering her scarlet slip over a white vest with purple tights and satin ballet pumps.

Over at the Netflix BAFTA after-party at The Twenty Two in Mayfair, Zoe Saldana, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, played with a classic lingerie formula: layering an oversized blazer atop an inky blue satin slip. The result was a play on contrasts: unexpected, but elegant, polished yet provocative. On the runway, we’ve seen this juxtaposition play out with lace skirts and camisoles layered with chunky knits to play with softness and structure.

Perhaps what makes the underwear-as-outerwear trend so compelling is how it challenges how we think about the relationship between private selves and public personas, nowhere is this more apparent than on the red carpet.

Last night at London’s Royal Festival Hall overlooking The Thames, some of the biggest stars in the film and TV firmament came together for the annual EE BAFTA Awards.

Kylie Jenner had no choice but to look on in amusement (or bemusement) as the audience erupted into a chorus of “I would walk 500 miles” as David Tennant—returning as host for the second year in a row—thundered through the crowds bellowing The Proclaimers’ anthem, before quipping about her seatmate—boyfriend and real-life Timothée Chalamet—being the winner of the recent Timmy lookalike contest.

Zoe Saldana broke down in tears before blurting a series of expletives in her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress, Mikey Madison held space (I know I’m blending film references, but stick with me here) for the sex worker community in her Leading Actress acceptance speech (which she admitted she hadn’t prepared on the advice of Robert De Niro) and Warwick Davis brought some in the audience to tears in his moving tribute to his late wife. And that was just the ceremony, so what went on after it at the official dinner and after-party, you ask? Read on to find out.

Having recovered from Tennant’s rendition of I’m Gonna Be, the couple headed downstairs for the official BAFTA dinner where individual portions of vegan caviar in BAFTA-branded tins designed to look like film canisters awaited guests. The couple, encircled by very indiscreet security, caught up and air-kissed table mates and their sizable entourage before ducking out before the main course was served. Despite skipping the red carpet, Kylie caused a sensation in her backless ink-black gown (another vintage pick), but for the dinner, she wrapped up in an oversized tuxedo blazer that eager fans pointed out appeared to be a subtle take on his-and-hers dressing (Timmy also went all black with glittering bijou). The couple’s security was kept busy ushering away fellow guests hoping to capture a photo of the pair.

Cynthia Erivo skipped out before dinner

After making an entrance in a custom Louis Vuitton lace gown with a gravity-defying (sorry!) breastplate, Cynthia Erivo snuck out before dinner was served to get ready to host the Vogue after-party with fellow nominees, Mikey Madison and Adrian Brody, both of whom had to stay behind at Southbank to get their awards engraved….

After the ceremony, guests flooded towards the banquet hall for a dinner of roast chicken breast and saffron potato with date purée, carrot and falafel, or in Mikey Madison’s case (the 25-year-old Anora actress is vegan), roast crown prince squash and brown butter potato with fennel seed pavé and root bhaji. Brody avoided the mêlée by hanging out by the lifts and making a Facetime call with his BAFTA gong for Best Leading Actor while his girlfriend Georgina Chapman also caught up on her correspondence. Later The Brutalist actor could be seen catching up with co-star Guy Pearce and fellow actor Edward Norton.

Is it just me or did Mikey Madison just reference Robert Palmer’s iconic Addicted to Love video?

Mikey Madison is one to watch: literally, of course, Anora is one of this year’s best films and the reason she’s nominated for an EE BAFTA Rising Star Award alongside Marisa Abela, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, and Nabhaan Rizwan. She’s also fast becoming a Getty go-to this red carpet season.

It’d be easy for an emerging star to play it safe, especially when it comes to awards season, where red carpet reporters can be famously ruthless, but Madison—with the help of stylist Jamie Mizrahi—is having fun with fashion and, honestly, it’s refreshing to see.

Like her roles—too few right now, but not for long—Madison defies stereotypes. She skips between classic Hollywood glamour (see the gold Bottega Veneta gown she wore to the Golden Globes), fashion vamp (a crushed velvet Mugler midi while dog walking) and off-duty It Girl in Chanel trainers and an oversized leopard Toteme coat.

She’s also got a penchant for a power suit, and though the vibe is undeniably ‘80s: think striking monochrome, angular silhouettes, and spiked stilettos, Madison keeps the look firmly grounded in the present.

The same was true of last night’s striking look: a tailored fire engine-red mini dress with a plunging neckline and belted waist. It came directly from the Giorgia Armani archives and was styled with an oversized single-breasted blazer, ink-black evening gloves (you see where that Robert Palmer reference came from) and Sheertex tights.

It was a bold look befitting fashion’s new darling, but it also could easily have slipped into Cabaret territory (I don’t consider this an insult), but muted makeup and a warm cinnamon lip colour kept the look refreshingly modern and playful when it so easily could’ve looked laboured.

Red commands attention, and if the neck-craning I witnessed at last night’s Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Awards Party at London’s Pavyllon is anything to go by, so does Mikey Madison.

Two stars collided at last night’s Vanity Fair EE Bafta Rising Star Awards party—Rising Star nominee Marisa Abela and Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse.

Once considered earthy and safe, brown is now on its way to knock black off its pedestal as the cocktail party colour of choice.

Case in point: Marisa Abela, who last night attended the Vanity Fair EE BAFTA Rising Star Awards in head-to-toe cappuccino tones, accessories and all.

Tonal dressing has steadily been gaining traction—Laura Harrier went monotone at Haute Couture Week—as the antithesis of eclectic mix-matching, which had been dominating runways. But the monotone trend isn’t all hush-hush elegance and simplicity.

Abela’s toffee-toned outfit, which included a custom leather midi dress from The Own Studio, was striking in its unexpectedness. From her brown lipstick to her tights, her tights (coloured hosiery is also having a moment), every piece echoed the same shame.

And it didn’t end with the clothes. A coppery palette of peanut and cinnamon dominated her makeup as well. Only a slick of signature scarlet at the soles of her Louboutin heels broke the theme.

There were no bold patterns or loud accessories—just the understated power of one colour: Mocha Mousse.

With award season in full swing, it's very nearly time for the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards. Bringing the very best in the business together on this side of the Atlantic, the ceremony is always a night of glamour and giggles for everyone involved - from the auditorium filled with royal guests, celebrities and rising stars, to those of us who watch the magic from the comfort of our sofas. This year, nominees will head to the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 16th February, with the likes of Cynthia Erivo, Timothée Chalamet and Zoe Saldaña in the running for a coveted bronze mask.

But if you've ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of the BAFTAs - from the extraordinary weight of the prestigious trophy, to the execution of such an enormous event - there's only one person to ask: BAFTA Director of Awards and Content, Emma Baehr. Whether you're interested in the logistics of organising the ceremony, or you want to know how Jeff Goldblum elicits spontaneous curtsies, Emma spoke to Marie Claire UK about her work with BAFTA, plus everything that happens off-camera.

What drew you to your role with BAFTA?

The opportunity to work in the tri-sector of film, games and television was something I was immensely excited about! Although people associate it with the glamour of the awards, BAFTA is an independent arts charity working year-round to champion exceptional talent across the screen industries, at every stage of their careers. The mission to make the screen arts more equitable really resonates with me - it’s not just about celebrating success. It’s about creating meaningful, lasting change, and that’s something I’m really proud to be a part of.

Can you describe what a typical working day looks like for you?

Each day brings a variety of activities, meetings and the occasional unexpected situation - so it is never boring, and often surprising! One moment I'm working on the eligibility rules for a specific category in the awards, the next minute I'm looking at different shades of the red carpet. Days range from checking scripts, to working on an opening performance, to briefing press, to hearing the different options of the edible BAFTA masks for dessert.

It can also go from the very unglamorous art of a three-minute change in the toilets after rehearsals, to the glamour of welcoming the nominees at their party!

When does planning start, and how long does it take to pull everything together?

While Awards season is October to May with six Awards ceremonies, we're working on them all year round. As soon as one finishes, entry is open for the next - rules and eligibility are being reviewed, over 80 juries are being put together, voting rounds are set up, and long-lists and nominations are being announced. Then venues are booked, photoshoots are being organised, and content for the ceremony is being edited.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

When we're informing the recipients of the BAFTA Fellowship or the BAFTA Special Award, which is BAFTA’s highest honour; that is certainly a special moment. Especially because when you're producing a short film about them, you get to discover so much about that person or company. Last year, the Games Special recipient was SpecialEffect who make games more accessible for those who have disabilities, specifically children. Learning more about the incredible impact that this has on people’s lives was so moving, and to be able to share this with our audiences is incredibly rewarding.

What are the most stressful parts of producing a huge award show?

If you take the Film Awards for example, we have over 2,500 people in the room. There are 500 nominees, over 26 categories, and millions viewing at home globally. We record it live with no ad breaks, which means you have to plan for all eventualities. You only get to do it once - so you had better get it right the first time!

How do you handle any hiccups on the day?

I try and plan for every eventuality, although there is always something that can take you by surprise. It simply comes down to having the best team around you, who work miracles, endlessly plan, and never panic. They take a breath and solve whatever happens. They are superstars!

What’s one thing about the BAFTAs ceremony that most people watching at home wouldn’t know?

There’s a couple! The BAFTA masks are heavy at 3.5kg - they always take those receiving one by surprise. While the ceremony is on, there's a team turning the reception area around to the most stunning dinning space of over 200 tables. We film as live, so no intervals and no stopping at all.

And no star is beyond being awestruck by others!

A lot of the US award shows offer the nominees lavish goodie bags - is there anything similar on offer for celebrities at the BAFTAs?

We have some wonderful official partners that support us, and offer gifts and services to our nominees. There's the Style Suites, located at our official hotel, The Savoy, where nominees can have their hair styled by ghd and make-up by Lancôme. They can also loan jewellery from Bvlgari, and guests are refreshed by the likes of Champagne Taittinger, Don Julio, Casillero Del Diablo and Hildon. All our partners also contribute to goody bags for our nominees.

What is your fondest BAFTA memory?

Those once in a lifetime moments, like last year when Michael J Fox presented the last category of the night, or when Shirley Bassey opened the 2022 EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony with a powerful performance.

Who has been your favourite celebrity to work with?

It would be incredibly hard to pick a favourite! There have been many amazing people over the years. David Tennant, who is hosting this year, is a joy to work with.

I've met many wonderful people often in the midst of the commotion of an Awards ceremony. Last year as I was checking backstage before we began, I was introduced to Jeff Goldblum and for reasons I still don’t know to this day, I curtsied and caught my colleague mouthing, 'What are you doing?' behind him. For the record, I have never curtsied to anyone before - and probably will not again!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a career in the entertainment events industry?

Seize opportunities, be tenacious. It is a much wider industry than many imagine with so many different areas you could work in, so be curious.

The 2025 BAFTA nominations have arrived, and while the shorlist includes a number of industry predictions and fan favourites, there are also some notable titles missing. The final nods include a staggering 11 nominations for Emilia Pérez, and Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) is in the running for the Leading Actress award.

However, following the release of the 2025 BAFTA longlist earlier this month, some of the biggest films and stars of the last twelve months didn't quite make it into the final nominations. In the Outstanding British film category, We Live In Time and Paddington in Peru failed to top the list, while Nicole Kidman's performance in Babygirl went amiss in the Leading Actress category. Although Demi Moore is up for the Leading Actress award, her The Substance co-star Margaret Qualley has missed out on a Supporting Actress nomination, and the movie was taken out of the running for Best Film.

The 2025 BAFTAs will air on Sunday 16th February on BBC One and iPlayer.

It’s official, we’re in award season. Sunday saw this year’s Golden Globes and this morning, the 2025 nominees for the BAFTA Rising Star Award were officially revealed at London's The Savoy Hotel, where Pete Jeavons, Marketing Communications Director at EE, reminded guests that this was the very site of Julia Roberts’ and Hugh Grant’s swoony kiss in Notting Hill.

The exclusive press conference was hosted by film critic Ali Plumb, and actor Jack O’Connell (who won the Rising Star Award award ten years ago) announced this year’s nominees, who—drumroll, please—are: Marisa Abela, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, Mikey Madison and Nabhaan Rizwan.

BAFTA CEO, Jane Millichip, reminded guests that the Rising Star Award, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is in honour of the late British casting director Mary Selway who championed emerging talent throughout her illustrious career.

Mia McKenna-Bruce took home the award at last year’s BAFTAs and previous winners include such starry names as Tom Hardy, Emma Mackey, Kristen Stewart, John Boyega, and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya.

The BAFTA EE Rising Star Award is the only award voted for by the public and voting is now open here until Friday 14th February 2025 at 12pm.

The winner will be announced on Sunday 16th February 2025 at the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony.

The 2024 BAFTA TV Awards took place on Sunday, with the historic evening celebrating the past year in television. 

As always, the annual awards did not disappoint. And from the BAFTA TV red carpet fashion, and the surprise big wins of the evening (ahem Top Boy), to the heartfelt tribute to Matthew Perry, the 2024 BAFTA TV Awards will go down as one for the ages. 

It was a special BAFTA win from Baroness Floella Benjamin that made the most news however, with the 74-year-old former children's TV presenter honoured with the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship Award. 

And in a heartfelt tribute, the Prince of Wales - despite being unable to attend the awards this year - recorded a video message about the recipient. 

"Good evening," Prince William, President of BAFTA, told the audience from a video recording. "Tonight we are delighted to recognise Baroness Floella Benjamin’s remarkable achievements as she receives this year's Fellowship for her ground-breaking work with children and young people; her longstanding commitment to television broadcasting; and for her work as an unwavering champion of inclusion.

"In a career spanning more than five decades, she has touched the lives of millions. She has graced our screens as a much-loved presenter of children’s television, most notably Playschool and Play Away."

He continued: "She has also contributed greatly to BAFTA itself – she chaired the BAFTA Television Committee from 1997 to 2000 and established the BAFTA Children’s Awards in 1995.

"Beyond the screen arts, Baroness Benjamin has steadfastly advocated for children’s education and welfare, supported a great number of charitable organisations, tirelessly campaigned for social justice - and as a member of the Windrush Generation - she has given voice to those who faced discrimination upon arrival in the UK.

"She is an actress, author, singer, politician and businesswoman, a beacon of representation and a voice for change."

Concluding his special video message, Prince William stated: "Baroness Floella Benjamin you remind us of the power of empathy, compassion, and action to effect positive change and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you."

The 2024 BAFTA TV Awards took place this evening, with celebrities taking to the Royal Festival Hall and its red carpet to celebrate the past year in television. 

Top Boy and Happy Valley emerged as the biggest winners of the night, with fans taking to social media to praise the historic evening - from Floella Benjamin's emotional win to Prince William's special video message.

The ceremony has been most celebrated for its 'In Memoriam' segment, seeing the British Academy of Film and Television Awards pay tribute to members of its industry who have sadly passed away in the last year. 

The moving 2024 tribute ended on a clip from beloved sitcom Friends in an emotional tribute to actor Matthew Perry, who tragically died last year. And in a special touch, accompanying the video was an acoustic rendition of the sitcom's theme tune 'I'll Be There For You'.

Viewers took to social media to praise the segment, and pay tribute to Perry, after the complaints made when he wasn't featured in the 2024 BAFTA film 'In Memoriam' earlier this year.

"Weeping again at the loss of Matthew Perry," one viewer posted. "Absolutely irreplaceable. There could never be a more perfect Chandler Bing."

"Sometimes I forget Matthew Perry has passed away," another added. "Then he pops up in the memoriam and it hits again"

Perry died in October last year, at the age of 54, with his Friends cast members releasing a joint statement at the time. 

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew," read the statement by Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Matt Le Blanc. "We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

The 2024 BAFTA TV Awards are officially here, with the annual ceremony airing live from London on Sunday evening.

The BAFTA Film Awards has come and gone, and this year the likes of Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy and Da'Vine Joy Randolph went home with the prestigious golden award. And while the 2024 award season has largely come to a close, there's still room for one more - the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises and the BAFTA Television Craft Awards. 

This year, the 2024 BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will take place in early May at London's Royal Festival Hall and the nominations are finally here. Those both in front of and behind the camera when it comes to the best TV shows of the past twelve months will be honoured at the glitzy and glamours ceremony in the capital. 

So, who is looking to sweep up this year? Well, The Crown and Black Mirror are the front runners with the most nominations. Elizabeth Debicki is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the late Princess Diana in the sixth season of the popular royal drama, while Anjana Vasan is in the running for Best Actress for her performance in Demon 79.

There are also multiple nods to Top Boy, with nominations in the Leading Actor (Kane Robinson), Supporting Actress (Jasmine Jobson) and Drama Series categories, while Succession may see success in the Supporting Actor (Matthew Macfadyen) and International categories.

There was gossip, there were winners, there were looks — oh, how there were looks! — and there was a royal appearance (and a royal absence). Here’s what happened when I went to the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards for the first time.

I had a glimmer of the breakneck pace and unabashed glamour at the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party, but nothing could prepare me for this. 

THE PREP

I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to write this without sounding like Ross Geller bemoaning being fancied, which would absolutely warrant a Chandler slapback. “Oh no, two women love me. They’re both gorgeous and sexy. My wallet’s too small for my fifties, AND MY DIAMOND SHOES ARE TOO TIGHT.”

However, this would not be a true and accurate account of my experience if I didn’t say that the admin that goes into attending an Awards ceremony is a lot, and if you’re not a celebrity, you will be navigating this alone. I got my invite on Wednesday 14th and the event was Sunday 19th - did someone drop out at the last minute? I like to think not. Fun fact: four days’ notice is the sweet spot where you’ll be frantically trying to scrabble an outfit, but you’ll have plenty of time for the pre-party jitters to really kick in. 

FIRST THINGS FIRST 

The invite specified ‘black tie’, which I interpreted as Full. On. Glam. Of course, this didn’t stop me from having anxiety dreams about turning up in Hollywood regalia to be met with a sea of subdued black dresses and practical court shoes — why is this my vision of the press? — thankfully, this was not the case. 

I borrowed a dress from By Rotation and made the fatal mistake of not immediately trying it on when I got home. This meant I spent Sunday morning trying to corral friends into lending me eveningwear accessories after realising that the silver shoes I’d borrowed from Rites clashed with the only (gold) jewellery I own. This wasn’t a stressful way to start the day at all. 

Shoes and bags secured thanks to a boyfriend, a bike, and some begging, and I was on my way! Sophie from beauty concierge service Ruuby saved me the misfortune of painting my face with little more than a dried-up concealer. I said this was a review of attending when you’re not a celebrity, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t act like one. I went for Veronica Lake waves and a scarlet lip because I’ve secretly always wanted to play Miss Scarlett from Cluedo. 

PRE-PARTY

As a guest of EE, I was invited to the drinks reception in the Court Room at the Corinthia Hotel. Naturally, I took the wrong entrance and joined another entirely unrelated event. When you’re flying solo, you can save yourself the embarrassment of making this too obvious by turning up a little later when the party is in swing, but this was not my approach. 

As anyone who’s ever made a friend on a night out can attest, the best place to do this is the women’s toilet, so that’s where I headed, and readers, I made a friend! We even had our photo taken together holding an actual BAFTA (it weighed a tonne and really ought to come with a disclaimer).

EE Bafta Rising Star Award winner Mia McKenna-Bruce — from the acclaimed How To Have Sex — was in attendance with fellow nominees Sophie Wilde and Phoebe Dynevor. English singer Rag’n’Bone Man performed his first hit single, “Human” to guests including Layton Williams and Taylor Russell. We sipped Taittinger champagne, negronis, and a dangerous-looking strawberry vodka concoction I stayed well away from, and attempted — in vain — to soak it up with fried buttermilk chicken, tuna tartare, and what was essentially a samosa but had a fancier name. 

THE RED CARPET

We walked, yes, walked, from the Corinthia Hotel to the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank, where the ceremony was. My newfound friend had the foresight to bring flats, but given that I’d just about managed to secure one pair of shoes, I certainly didn’t have a backup. A rookie move. 

The red carpet opened at 3.30, and by 3.32 pm, there was a gaggle of accredited press and paparazzi; ironically, given Hugh Grant’s noted disdain for both, many were waving ‘Notting Hill’ street signs and laminated photos of Grant circa Bridget Jones. The first celebrity I spotted was Adjoa Andoh, looking resplendent in red, which turned out to be the colour of choice, leaving me feeling equal parts smug and outshined - never was this more apparent than when I ended up next to Dua Lipa, also in a crimson gown and curls.

Dua dutifully snapped selfies with fans, Ryan Gosling caught up with Andy Serkis, David Beckham signed a seemingly never-ending line-up of autograph books (including a photograph of that semi-naked H&M advert), Cate Blanchett wore custom Louis Vuitton, Barry Keoghan got rushed along swiftly, Ed Westwick reminded everyone his cheekbones could cut glass, Hugh Grant posed with the aforementioned signs, Taylor Russell, Emma Corrin, and Rosamund Pike competed for the perfect head turn, and yours truly was politely asked to step inside and stop clogging up the red carpet. So, onwards we went.

INSIDE THE TENT

A true sensation and sensation overload; no wonder Rami Malek kept his sunglasses on. This was an absolute production, giving me a chance to see the pros at work. Press handlers ushered stars to the left for a step and repeat, while the rest of us mere mortals could have our photos taken off to the side. 

Interview and photo booths churned out a steady conveyor of dutiful celebrities facing down a four-row-deep press pit that would have rendered me immobile, but as I said, we are dealing with stars here, and it’s all in a day’s work. 

In a visual representation of the sun shining on the righteous, or at least the rightfully famous, the heavens opened, revealing a burst of the brilliant blue sky while the stereo pumped Macchiato's Disintegration Radio 025. Unfortunately, for me, the bright light and piercing flashbulb proved to be an unforgiving duo. 

THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL

Once inside, we were pointed in the direction of where we’d be seated. Naturally, the A-listers were closest to the stage, so I lingered around the lower-floor bars before admitting defeat and heading to floor six, which is where I sat. 

To my horror, all the bars closed at 4pm, a full 45-minutes before the ceremony was due to start. Later at dinner, I discovered that this disappointment was shared with my fellow journalists, who regaled me with stories of when the BAFTAs were held at the Royal Albert Hall and you were allowed glasses inside. Ahh, the good old days (2022). 

THE DINNER

We made it. Five hours after my single tuna tartare (I have no one to blame but myself and will learn from my seatmates who brought protein bars with them), we sat down to dinner. 

Now, just because you were invited to the ceremony, don't think that guarantees you supper. There's a sliding scale of access with pre-parties, the red-carpet, ceremony, dinner, and, as I'd later learn, competing after-parties. If you're invited to the ceremony and the after-party but not the dinner, you might have to shack up in one of the nearby eateries before you can go back in. 

Fortunately, that wasn't me, so here's what we had!

STARTER

Six root bhaji and coronation roasted carrot served with sweet potato puree

CHOICE OF MAIN

Chicken Caesar salad topped with aged parmesan and a triple cooked Maris Piper chip

Salt baked celeriac, rosemary confit potato and black cabbage

DESSERT

The BAFTA Toffee Chocolate Dessert served with vanilla mascarpone

Hugh Grant held court at the centre of the ballroom — most of the celebrities were seated in the lower section of the dining area — that said, Kingsley Ben-Adir, who stars in the Bob Marley biopic One Love, sat directly behind me, so there was a bit of mingling. 

Ryan Gosling ducked out after starters, and Idris and Sabrina Elba, and Margot Robbie — who was staying at the nearby Corinthia Hotel — skipped the meal altogether to go to the British Vogue And Tiffany & Co. after-party at Annabel's, as did many guests. One journalist described it to me as "Fort Knox" when it comes to the afters, which brings me on nicely to...

THE AFTER-PARTY

Now, according to my new tabloid dinner pals, in the time before streaming services, there was just one main after-party that pulled all the heavy hitters. Today, there’s a whole host of competing parties. It's a bit like the streaming wars but with well-stocked free bars and Harry Winston jewellery.

Most want to go to Vogue's 2024 Fashion & Film Party In Partnership With Tiffany & Co., but there's also Netflix’s starry bash at Chiltern Firehouse, which is where Emma Stone celebrated her best actress BAFTA win with All Of Us Strangers stars Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. There was also Charles Finch’s exclusive annual dinner, in partnership with Chanel at 5 Hertford Street; the NoMad hotel, which hosted Universal; Focus, and Searchlight held a party of their own at Soho House on Greek Street, and just around the corner was another Soho House outpost - Kettner’s, which hosted Warner Bros. As I wasn’t invited to any, I kept my step count low and went next door to The Queen Elizabeth Hall. 

There was disco balls, there was life-size crocodiles for reasons unbeknownst to me, there was male models serving boozy drinks, there was — crucially — a beauty pop-up station courtesy of Lancôme and GHD. We preened, we partied, we had yet more photographs and when it was all over at 2am, I took one final waltz down the red carpet and couldn’t help but miss the boisterous energy of earlier. And that, as we say in the biz, is a wrap! 

The sudden news of Matthew Perry's death in October shocked the world, and celebrities, royals and politicians shared touching tributes to the late actor online in the wake of the reports. His Friends co-stars also shared their condolences, with Courteney Cox sharing memories of their characters love story and Matt LeBlanc sharing his heartbreak over losing his 'brother'. 

Matthew's closest co-star, Jennifer Aniston, also shared sweet anecdotes online and has since urged his fans to support the Matthew Perry Foundation, an organisation which was set up to help those suffering from addiction.

As many stars gather at this time of year for awards season, a number of the ceremonies dedicate a segment to those within the industry who have passed away in the last twelve months. At the Baftas last night, Hannah Waddingham sang a moving rendition of Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time while the likes of Tina Turner, Sir Michael Gambon, Jane Birkin and Glynis Johns were remembered. However, viewers were quick to notice that Matthew did not appear in the dedicated In Memoriam tribute. 

A number of them took to X, formerly Twitter, with one person writing: "Only came to make sure I wasn't the only person saddened at the glaring omission by @BAFTA of #MatthewPerry during the in memoriam tributes!"

Another added: "Why is Matthew Perry not on that?"

In response to the criticism, Bafta responded to the question on the social media platform to confirm why Matthew Perry was not included in the list of tributes and to assure his fans that he will be honoured at a later date. 

Responding to the post, the official Bafta account replied: "Matthew Perry will be remembered in this year’s TV Awards ceremony. You can also find our tribute to Matthew at [Bafta website]."

While he was most known for playing Chandler Bing on the sitcom for a decade, Matthew did also star in a number of films over the years - most notably, The Whole Nine Yards and 17 Again. 

The Baftas 2024 was undeniably a night to remember after an incredible year for film. Oppenheimer did exceptionally well, notably winning Best Film, with Cillian Murphy taking home the award for Best Actor. Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things also received a number of nods, including a Best Actress gong for Emma Stone, as well as wins in Production Design, Costume, and Hair and Makeup. 

One of the biggest categories of the night is the EE Bafta Rising Star Award, which celebrates up and coming talent within the industry. Nominees are chosen regardless of gender or nationality and can have had their big breakthrough in a TV series or film, with the winner selected by the public. Previous winners have gone on to have unbelievable success in the industry, with the likes of Tom Hardy, John Boyega, Letitia Wright, Tom Holland and Emma Mackey just some of the incredible actors who have won in the past.

This year, the category was particularly tough with nominees including Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor, Saltburn's Jacob Elordi, The Bear's Ayo Edebiri and Talk To Me's Sophie Wilde. However it was Mia McKenna-Bruce - who starred in the critically acclaimed How To Have Sex - who took home the iconic award.

During her touching acceptance speech, Mia appeared to be completely shocked by the win and thanked everyone who voted, joking: "Thanks to my little sisters, who keep reminding me that I’m not that cool – maybe I am now?"

She added: "Thank you so much BAFTA, EE, from the bottom of my heart... To get to do the thing that I love in the whole entire world… is amazing."

Following her incredible win, Marie Claire UK caught up with the actor who shared how it feels to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. She told us: "It has not settled in at all yet. My mind is like - spinning around, I'm so excited, so happy, so grateful. What a year, what a year to be a winner. I'm over the moon."

As the 77th British Academy Film Awards took place in London this evening, celebrities from across the globe walked down the Baftas red carpet and watched the likes of Cillian Murphy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Mia McKenna-Bruce earn their way onto the Baftas 2024 winners list. 

The guest list included the Prince of Wales - who made an unexpected comment about wife Kate's absence this year - as well as some of the biggest names in Hollywood; Ryan Gosling, Florence Pugh and Cate Blanchett were among the A-listers lining the seats in the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre.

At some recent award shows, cameras have managed to capture the celebrities interacting with one another. At the Golden Globes just last month, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were given the lip reader treatment after their cute PDA, and Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez went viral after they were seen animatedly telling one another stories.

But now Margot Robbie and Emma Stone have taken the title for best celebrity expressions as the pair were photographed gossiping on the red carpet ahead of the Baftas ceremony - and the picture are brilliant. As Margot and Emma caught up, the Poor Things actor can be seen gasping at whatever the Barbie star has told her, holding her necklace as she listens intently to the story, and widening her eyes. 

The hilarious photos have quickly gone viral on social media, with fans of the pair weighing in on what they may have been talking about. 

One person wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Emma Stone is all of us when meeting Margot Robbie."

Another added: "Gossip is good, you know?"

Any guesses? Well one thing's for sure - that's one celeb conversation we'd love to be a part of. 

Tonight, the biggest names in showbiz gathered at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, London, to celebrate the very best in film at the 2024 Baftas. The Baftas red carpet was pure joy - did you see Florence Pugh? - and there were hundreds of A-listers lining the seats inside the auditorium. From Emma Stone in her coral gown to Dua Lipa stunning in red, it was a sea of famous faces.

This weekend sees the 2024 BAFTAs, with the 77th British Academy Film Awards set to celebrate the past year in film. 

Among the most nominated films of this year's BAFTAs are Oppenheimer and Poor Things with 13 and 11 nominations respectively, and Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest with nine nominations each. Not to mention Barbie and Saltburn with five nods each. 

And as such, a host of A-list nominees - and maybe even royalty - are expected to descend on the BAFTAs red carpet this year in show stopping looks.

It's not the couture that is expected to make headlines however, but rather the political statements, with many celebrities predicted to sport a blue ribbon. 

Blue ribbons were a common theme on the BAFTA red carpet last year, seeing stars from Cate Blanchett and Colin Farrell, to Michelle Yeoh, Emma Thompson and Paul Mescal wearing them on their lapels.

But what does it all mean? Well, there's actually a very important and moving reason behind those little blue ribbons. Here's what you need to know.

Why are A-listers wearing blue ribbons during awards season?

A-listers wore blue ribbons at the BAFTAs and other award shows last year in support of refugees and displaced people across the world, with the pin sported being a #WithRefugees ribbon.

Among the celebrities wearing #WithRefugees ribbons were Cate Blanchett, Emma Thompson, Sophie Turner, Angela Bassett, Bill Nighy, Paul Mescal and Jamie Lee Curtis, who opened up about her decision to wear the pin on the film BAFTA red carpet last year.

“My friend Cate Blanchett is asking people to remind us all in the midst of all the season of shiny things that of course there are terrible refugee crises going on all over the world everywhere all at once and we need to do our part," explained Jamie Lee.

This weekend will see the 2024 BAFTAs, and as the world gears up for the 77th British Academy Film Awards, people are eager to know who will be in attendance. 

Based on this year's BAFTA nominations, we can expect big turnouts from Oppenheimer and Poor Things, with 13 and 11 nominations respectively, and Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest with nine nominations each. 

Also in attendance will undoubtedly be the star-studded casts of Barbie and Saltburn, with the two cult-classics earning five nods each.

One regular attendee who is also confirmed to be attending this year is the Prince of Wales - a staple at the annual awards since he became President of BAFTA in 2010.

The Princess of Wales will not be attending the star-studded ceremony, following her recent health issues, with the 42-year-old currently recovering from major abdominal surgery.

And while she is making a steady recovery, based on current medical advice, Princess Kate is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter. 

Prince William however will be making a solo appearance, with Kensington Palace confirming the news today.

It was not an expected appearance, with Prince William only just returning to duties following a break to look after his family amid his wife's surgery. 

This also comes amid his father King Charles' cancer diagnosis, with Prince William stepping up his responsibilities while he receives treatment.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been absent from the awards in the past, missing the BAFTAs in both 2021 and 2022. This was due to diary constraints in 2022, with the couple declining the invitation, while their 2021 absence was down to the tragic death of Prince Philip, with the couple forced to pull out.

The BAFTA 2024 awards are just around the corner. To celebrate, the best of British talent gathered last night at Park Lane’s glitzy Pavyllon restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel. 

Nominees Mia McKenna-Bruce, from Cannes favourite How To Have Sex, and Sophie Wilde caught up by the step and repeat wall before being whisked away to be snapped by photographers Dave Bennet and James D. Kelly. 

Making a case for the power suit, Aisling Bea was spotted sharing a joke with fellow comedian Katherine Ryan, who wore a structured black column dress and a sharp bob. 

Actress Alicia Agneson held court on the plush velvet sofas upstairs in a frothy pink concoction by London label Selezza, while Paloma Faith donned an offbeat tartan dress by London’s Paul Costelloe and towering platforms. Talking of Paloma’s, in addition to a seemingly endless supply of Champagne, guests—including Emily Atack, Clara Amfo and Bridgerton stars Harriet Cains and Luke Thompson—enjoyed bespoke cocktails by multi-Michelin starred chef Yannick Allén, each one themed around this year’s Rising Star Nominees. Ayo’s Paloma Dream, Phoebe’s Coconut Concoction, Sophie’s Sparkling Serenade, The Saltburn Margarita, and Mia’s Oasis Delight kept guests suitably inebriated and dancing into the small hours. 

The only BAFTA award chosen by the British public, the EE Rising Star Award celebrates the best new faces in film and TV. The BAFTA nominees have been announced - and there are some clear frontrunners, with Poor Things and Oppenheimer sweeping the board with 11 and 13 nominations retrospectively.  

Awards season is in full swing, with the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards behind us and the Academy Awards just around the corner. We'll have to wait a little bit longer to find out who the official nominees are (you can check out our Oscars 2024 predictions here), but the prestigious BAFTAs, which will take place on Sunday 18th February 2024, might give us somewhat of an indicator of how things will go. 

Oppenheimer was this year's big winner at the Golden Globes, winning five awards including Best Motion Picture (Drama). But Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things is proving to be the one to watch, scooping the Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) award, as well as Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) for Emma Stone. 

Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos told ScreenRant that when it came to casting the lead, Emma - who was also a producer on the film - was always the "obvious" choice. He said: "We had a great relationship during The Favourite. So, at that moment, it became obvious that it was time to do this. By having the lead actor there for everything, following the research about the world, the design, talking about the other actors who will be with her, just having her as a sounding board for what we were creating, it felt like a very different collaboration." And it's a collaboration that's most certainly paid off. 

Barbie, despite being a box office smash and bringing in an estimated $1.4 billion, fell short with five nominations. Dark comedy Saltburn - undoubtedly the most talked-about film of the festive season, particularly if you watched it sat next to your grandma - also came in with five nominations, including Best British Film.

Writer and director Emerald Fennell, who was also behind the multi-award-winning A Promising Young Woman, said of the film's success (via the BBC): "I think [Saltburn's plot] really tunes into this emotional need we have that is quite unfulfilled - the really operatic, heightened emotion; a heightened sense of the erotic and of love and of hate. I just think it's something that we've been missing for a while."

Jonathan Glazer's The Zone of Interest, based on Martin Amis's harrowing novel, which centres on Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife building their dream home next to a concentration camp, was another big contender, receiving nine nominations, along with Killers of The Flower Moon.

The British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the BAFTA Film Awards, will take place on 18th February 2024 in London.

Whether or not you watched the BAFTA awards last Sunday, if you've spent any amount of time on social media since then, you'll have seen Ariana DeBose's name mentioned.

Here's a refresher in case you're not up to speed: Ariana, who is known for her role in 2021's West Side Story, performed at the beginning of the BAFTAs, singing and dancing to a medley of cult songs.

At one point during the performance, Ariana began to rap by mentioning many of the night's nominees by name.

"Angela Bassett did the thing, Viola Davis my ‘Woman King,’ Blanchett Cate you’re a genius, Jamie Lee you are all of us," Ariana sang, among other words.

Social media users were quick to poke fun at the celebs in the audience's reactions to this — many of them seeming a little confused.

However, people were so critical of Ariana's performance that she ended up deactivating her Twitter account to avoid the hate.

Still, the actress (who is of course extremely talented) showed she thought the whole thing was actually quite funny when she commented on a meme that used some of her lyrics, writing: "Honestly I love this"

Some social media users have pointed out that critics went too far, but Ariana's biggest defender has proven to be BAFTA producer Nick Bullen.

"I think it’s incredibly unfair, to be frank," Nick told Variety about the backlash against Ariana's performance.

"I absolutely loved it. Everybody I’ve spoken to who was in the room absolutely loved it.

"She’s a huge star, she was amazing.

"The songs she was singing are very familiar songs, the room was clapping, and people were sort of dancing to the music.

"That rap section in the middle, mentioning the women in the room, was because it’s been a great year for women in film, and we wanted to celebrate that.

"And here is a woman of colour who is at the absolute top of her game. And she’s opening the BAFTAs with a song that said so much on so many levels. All of those mentions, I felt, from the moment we were rehearsing it right through to the transmission last night, spoke to what we wanted to do."

As a British beauty editor, few things make me happier than when awards season pays a visit to UK shores—and last night it was the BAFTAs 2023. Celebrities took to the red carpet to celebrate the best in film, and while I was fully invested in who was taking home trophies, I was mainly concerning myself with the BAFTA 2023 beauty looks.

And I can confirm there was no disappointment on my part. You see, typically, I find that UK award ceremonies just don't deliver in the same way they do when they're Hollywood-based (the GRAMMYs, for example, delivered this year, as did the Golden Globes)—and I really hate to admit that. But last night, the BAFTAs proved me very wrong.

The BAFTA 2023 red carpet served some serious old-school glamour and I. am. here. for. it. From Florence Pugh's winged liner and Jodie Turner-Smith's face gems to Anya Taylor-Joy's glowing cheeks and the Princess of Wales's impressive non-tour (that's the buzzword for barely-there contouring, FYI), I'm still sort of in awe of it all.

And while I know the BAFTA 2023 beauty looks really speak for themselves, I also know they can raise a whole load of questions, mainly: What products were used to do that? So, as always, I spent the evening furiously searching Instagram to find out exactly what beauty products were used on the celebs at the BAFTAs.

So, without any further rambling from me, here's all of the best BAFTA 2023 beauty looks, and some of the products that were used to create them (as and when I find out).

1. Jodie Turner-Smith

The winner of the night on the make-up front is Jodie Turner-Smith. It's Blitz kid meets red carpet, with a surprisingly wearable twist—I can't get enough.

Her make-up was created by make-up artist Joey Choy using Charlotte Tilbury products. In an Instagram story, she shared an image of Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer, Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow, Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighter and an array of Lip Cheat Lip Liners.

2. Florence Pugh

Oh Miss Flo, you've done it again. I've never met a Florence Pugh beauty look I didn't like, and this spiky bun and micro-fringe hair look is giving. I'm also a huge fan of the subtle winged liner—brava.

Florence's make-up was created by her long-time MUA, Alex Babsky and her hair look came courtesy of Peter Lux. 

3. Catherine, Princess of Wales

Decoding Kate Middleton's beauty looks over the years has by far been one of my favourite things to do, and now she's Catherine, Princess of Wales, I'm even more invested. The smokey eye and bouncy blow-out combo is her red-carpet go-to, but I'm very interested in the draped blushed and subtle contouring here. In fact, I'm going to give it a go myself ASAP.

4. Anya Taylor-Joy

There's no beauty look that Anya Taylor-Joy can't pull off. The beauty in this make-up look is the way everything is so polished, but the overall vibe still manages to look a bit gothic.

Anya's beauty look was created by hair stylist Gregory Russell and make-up artist Valeria Ferriera—I'm hoping details will follow soon.

5. Angela Bassett

I'm putting it out there: this is one of my favourite Angela Bassett looks to date. The smokey eye, the glowing cheeks, the nude, glossed lip— it's *chef's kiss*.

Her hairstylist for the night was Randy Stodghill, and her make-up artist was D'Andre Michael.

6. Lily James

I managed to get a quick catch up in with Charlotte Tilbury make-up artist, Sofia Tilbury, earlier this week backstage at London Fashion Week, and she gave me a head's up that Lily's look was set to be a stunner—and she wasn't wrong. The shimmering eye and flushed cheeks screams old-school glamour. Oh, and I'm adding this slicked-back bun to my hair inspo board.

Charlotte Tilbury has shared all of the products used for her look—and there was a lot. Most notably though: Charlotte's Beautiful Skin Foundation, Matte Beauty Blush Wand in Pillow Talk, The Classic eyeliner and Tinted Love in Blushed Rose.

7. Hoyeon Jung

I'm a bit of a broken record when it comes to my love for Hoyeon Jung's red-carpet looks—they're elite. I'm obsessed with the super-sleek, side-parted hair, and that satin red lip is executed to perfection.

Her make-up artist was Nina Park, and her hairstylist was Bryce Scarlett. Park used an array of Lancôme products to create the look, including: Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer and L’Absolu Rouge Drama Ink in 154 Dis Oui.

8. Emma Thompson

Few things make me happier than seeing Emma Thompson's face on a red carpet. She makes a red lip and blush pairing look totally effortless.

9. Naomi Ackie

I think Naomi Ackie's smokey eye is my favourite of the night (and there's been a lot). The diffused grey shadow and super-long lashes are a match made in make-up heaven. And the side-parted pony? Magnificent.

Her make-up was created by artist Kenneth Soh using Charlotte Tilbury, while her hair was styled by Kevin Fortune. According to a Reel posted by Charlotte Tilbury on Instagram, Soh used Instant Eye Palette, Look of Love Lipstick and Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighter.

10. Nicola Coughlan

If you're asking me, no Nicola Coughlan beauty look is complete without a razor-sharp, winged liner—and this proves it. Teamed with Bardot-style bangs, this whole moment showcases retro-inspired beauty in 2023 at its finest.

Nicola's make-up was created by Neil Young, using Lancôme products, including the two stand-out products below.

11. Michelle Yeoh

I need to know the details of Michelle Yeoh's blusher, immediately. The placement has cleverly made her cheek bones pop—placing the blusher at the centre of the look. It's not an easy thing to do, but she's done it.

12. Julianne Moore

Another side-parted hair sweep that I am here for. Is this really the return of the side parting?! The thing I'm itching to know most of all, however, is what shade Julianne Moore is wearing on her lips.

Julianne's make-up look was created by Kay Montano and her hair was one by Marcus Francis. Montano posted an image of an array of Hourglass products onto her Instagram Story last night, including the below, and I'd make a well-informed guess that they were the products used.

13. Vick Hope

I can't even tell you how long I've stared in awe at Vick Hope's beauty look, this evening. Just know it's been a while. The fluffy bun with teased-out flyaways showcases God-tier hair styling, and the softly winged eye complements it expertly. I can't get enough.

14. Wallis Day

Yes, yes, yes. A wet-look, wavy bob with a statement side part teamed with a grey, shimmering, smoked-out eye and a nude lip? Wallis Day, I am listening.

Wallis's look was created by make-up artist, Georgia Rose, and her hair was styled by Alisha Dobson. Rose shared a full list of products used on her Instagram, including the below stand-outs.

15. Cynthia Erivo

This eye look is everything. Cynthia Erivo's silver, metallic accents on the eye perfectly showcase that fun can be had with make-up on the red carpet. And if you know the details of those lash extensions, feel free to slide into my DMs.

16. Little Simz

Little Simz wins tonight's glow card. While smokey eyes as grungy as these tend to be paired with matte skin, her expertly applied highlight has left the look oozing lit-from-within radiance. And as for the wrapped-up locs? Perfection.

17. Rosie Huntington-Whitely

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's sleek ponytail proves there's beauty in simplicity. My favourite part of this look, however, is the tight-lined eyes. It's giving noughties' nostalgia in all of the right ways.

Rosie's hair look was created by Christian Wood, and her make-up artist was Harold James. James shared that he used Rose Inc products to create her make-up look—including the exact bronzer below.

18. Viola Davis

Blush works best when it's applied to the tops of the cheekbones and blended out towards the eye. Case in point? Viola Davis's look tonight. I'm also loving the silver accents on the lid. Am I starting to sense a theme here?

Viola's hair was styled by Jamika Wilson, and her make-up was created by Sergio López-Rivera. The latter shared a picture to his Instagram Story last night, snapping a whole load of product, which I can bet was used on Viola's face. The below were the real stand-outs.

19. Lashana Lynch

The berry lip. The full brows. The sky-high lashes. The gems. Lashana Lynch, you win.

Lashana's hair was styled by Nicola Harrowell, and her make-up was done by artist Min Sandu, using Lancôme. Harrowell shared a flatlay of hair products to her Instagram stories, including: Ruka Hold Me Down Edge Gel, Ruka Do-It-All Gel and Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine.

Sandu used an array of Lancôme make-up products to create Lashana's look, including: Hypnôse Mascara, Ombre Hypnôse Stylo Cream Eye Shadow Stick and L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in 508 Mademoiselle Isabella.

20. Cate Blanchett

Another beauty look I've been mesmerised by all night is this one, courtesy of Cate Blanchett. The teased-out hair is one thing, but the soft pink lip teamed with a mauve-wash eye is sheer genius.

Cate's make-up look was created by Mary Greenwell, while it was Nicola Clarke who styled her hair. In an Instagram post, Greenwell revealed she used Armani Beauty to create the look, including the below products.

21. Frankie Bridge

Frankie Bridge's apricot matte lip is possibly my favourite lip look of the night. Paired with a matching blush and a super-dark eye, the whole thing comes together like a perfectly fitted puzzle.

Frankie's make-up was created by MUA Malin Coleman. She used Make Up Forever HD Skin Foundation and By Terry Beach Bomb Brightening CC Palette.

22. Munroe Bergdorf

Another example of exemplary tightlining and perfect blush placement is this look from Munroe Bergdorf. It's so good, in fact, I've saved it to my Instagram Saved folder to recreate for my next night out.

Make-up artist Bianca Spencer created Munroe's look, while stylist Mikai McDermott did her hair.

23. Alex Scott

If you want to talk about radiant, healthy looking skin, let's do it. Alex Scott's complexion this evening has basically set the gold standard for lit-from-within glow.

24. Aimee Lou Wood

Aimee Lou Wood's pastel-pink, shimmering eye look and pink, glossy lip is serving all of the make-up nostalgia in all of the right ways.

Aimee's make-up was created by make-up artist Sara Hill, and hair was styled by George Northwood. I've received intel that Hill used the below Chantecaille product to create the look.

25. Sophie Turner

I can't get enough. Sophie Turner's glossy, red hair, styled into curtain bangs has got to be one of the very best red-carpet hair looks I've seen all awards season.

Sophie's hair was styled by Christian Wood, and the make-up look was created by Naoko Scintu.

26. AJ Odudu

Another pink, shimmering eye winner. AJ Odudu's shimmering wash shows that graphic liner is wearable—so much so I'm probably going to copy this. Thanks, AJ.

AJ's liner was created by make-up artist Thembi Mkandla, and her hair was styled by Carl Campbell.

27. Emma Mackey

Emma Mackey's feathered fringe and low-key make-up look proves that red-carpet beauty doesn't need to be all smokey shadows and bold lips to be exquisite.

Emma's hair was styled by Carlos Ferraz using Leonor Greyl, and her make-up was done by Emma Lovell.

28. Ana de Armas

This is the sort of low-maintenance, undone hair look that I live for. In fact, I've already pulled out my hair waver from the depths of my beauty stash.

Tonight saw the 2023 BAFTAs, with the 76th British Academy Film Awards celebrating the past year in film.

The ceremony, held at London's Southbank Centre, was hosted by Richard E. Grant and Alison Hammond, with Hollywood nominees from far and wide flocking to the BAFTA red carpet.

Tonight sees the 76th British Academy Film Awards, with A-listers flocking to the BAFTA red carpet from far and wide to celebrate the past year in film.

Hosted by Richard E. Grant and held at London's Southbank Centre, the 2023 awards celebrated the achievements of major players in TV and film this past year, with costume designer Sandy Powell taking home the prestigious Fellowship Award

The biggest honour of the night however was given to the late Queen Elizabeth II, as the award ceremony paid a powerful tribute to the monarch, who tragically passed away last year.

The tribute was paid by Dame Helen Mirren, who delivered a beautiful speech dedicated to the late Queen, with the Prince and Princess of Wales watching from the front row. 

“She was unquestionably the nation’s leading lady but as mysterious as a silent film star," announced Dame Helen Mirren. “Who else could meet the world’s most famous singers, actors and performers and turn them into her supporting cast.

“Throughout her 70-year reign, she met cinema’s greatest icons and witnessed the evolution of Hollywood’s golden age to the birth of the blockbuster - Her Majesty was front row for it all."

The tribute continued: "Cinema at its best does what Her Majesty did effortlessly: bring us together and unite us in a story. Your Majesty, you were our nation’s leading star. On behalf of Bafta, thank you for all that you have done for our film and television industry”.

The tribute also went on to reference the fact that The Queen herself was a BAFTA winner, receiving an honourary BAFTA in 2013 for her "tireless support" for the industry.

BAFTA's chairman at the time, John Willis, announced: "I have the great honour to announce that we are to present Her Majesty with an honorary BAFTA today, in recognition of her outstanding patronage of the film and television industries.

"We should be proud of our industry. The people here this evening represent a vast variety of skills and ground breaking innovation; they have entertained and informed a generation and inspired generations to come."

The BAFTAs is set to return this weekend, with stars of silver screen gathering in London to celebrate the best in British and International contributions to film. 

While it is usually held at the Royal Albert Hall, the 76th British Academy Film Awards will take place at the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre, with celebrities flocking from across the globe to attend the ceremony. 

This year, Austin Butler, Cate Blanchett, Ke Huy Quan and Emma Thompson are among the actors nominated for a coveted golden mask award, while Stephen Speilberg's The Fabelmans and Baz Lurhmann's Elvis are also up for gongs. 

It is always a glittering affair in the capital, with Prince William and Kate Middleton regular attendees of the award show. 

This year, the late Queen Elizabeth II will also be honoured with a special tribute given by Dame Helen Mirren. 

The royal, who sadly passed away in September, had a close relationship with the Baftas, serving as patron of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Royal Variety Charity, as well as donating proceeds from related projects to establish a headquarters for the organisation in 1972. 

Queen Elizabeth II also received a BAFTA of her own in 2013 and was awarded the honorary British Academy Special Award to recognise her support of the British film and television industry. 

This year, Dame Helen Mirren - who won an Oscar for her performance as the monarch in the 2006 film The Queen - will pay special tribute during the ceremony, with a BAFTA spokesperson stating: "The Queen occupies a unique place in BAFTA's history, a close association that spanned 50 years. Through her various patronages, The Queen was renowned for her support of the UK's creative industries."

Prince William currently serves as President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, a role he has had since 2010, and the Prince and Princess of Wales will be attending the award ceremony on Sunday. 

The EE BAFTAs will be broadcast on BBC One from 7pm on Sunday 19th February.

Awards season is in full swing, and this weekend saw the A-listers flock to London for the BAFTAs. The red carpet was awash with famous faces, from Lady Gaga in a stunning Ralph Lauren gown to Daisy Ridley in Vivienne Westwood.

In 2021, the awards organisers introduced a sustainable dress code and this year many guests opted for a more sombre dress code to show support for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with some celebrities wearing ribbons in the colours of the country's flag.

The ceremony was hosted by Rebel Wilson, whose comments about her recent weight loss have since gone viral, and attendees included everyone from Millie Bobby Brown to Shirley Bassey.

However, many royal fans were surprised to find out that Prince William and Kate Middleton would not be making their way to the Royal Albert Hall for the show.

Although there have been several reports about why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were unable to attend, it appears that the real reason is due to conflicting schedules.

A source told the Mirror: 'Prince William is always a huge draw, not least as it's the first year back in person after the pandemic.

'But BAFTA were told that diary constraints precluded him from attending in person this year. It's such a shame and everyone is very disappointed.'

Prince William has been president of the BAFTAs since 2010, and while he couldn't make it in person this year he made an appearance via a pre-recorded video instead.

He spoke about how proud he was to be a part of their mentoring programme and congratulated all the winners.

Hopefully royal fans will see the royal couple on the BAFTA red carpet in 2023 instead!

Awards season is in full swing, with the BAFTAs and Critics Choice Awards taking place on Sunday 13 March.

The EE British Academy Film Awards was attended by actors and singers, models and TV personalities. But, one famous face was missing - Prince William.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have fans waiting in anticipation to see them arrive for the annual ceremony.

However, this year Prince William - who is the BAFTA president - and wife Kate Middleton did not attend the awards ceremony.

Instead the 39-year-old royal made a virtual appearance via a pre-recorded video message, which is said to have lasted just 90 seconds.

In the clip he shared how proud he was of the Academy's Breakthrough mentoring programme.

He said: "Hello everyone. As president of BAFTA, I'm extremely proud to see the work that BAFTA undertakes year round to provide opportunities and support for talented people to develop successful careers in films, games and television.

"One of these programmes is Breakthrough, a yearlong mentoring and guidance initiative which helps people achieve their true potential.

"It's wonderful that there are more than 30 participants from Breakthrough UK in the audience this evening.

"Two of them, Aleem Khan and Jessie Buckley, are nominated for awards tonight.

"They join an impressive list of young talent including Bukky Bakray and Florence Pugh, as well as Paapa Essiedu, and Ray Panthaki, who are closely involved with BAFTA nominated films.

"BAFTA hopes to inspire and support future generations from all walks of life to become the filmmakers of the future.

"And I hope that for some of you watching these awards, that journey starts today. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners and I wish you all a wonderful evening."

However, BAFTA organisers are said to be "very disappointed" by William's failed appearance, which is said to be due to "diary constraints", especially as it marked the first red carpet event since the coronavirus pandemic.

The BAFTAs 2022 red carpet was a glorious one, after being almost non existent the past couple of years for obvious reasons.

Celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Rebel Wilson and Emma Watson descended on the Royal Albert Hall in London to celebrate the finest talent in film.

They dressed up to the nines in designer gowns by the likes of Saint Laurent, Dior and Valentino, and while it may not have been obvious at first glance, they seemed to be following a specific dress code.

I'm not referring to last year's sustainability dress code, where guests were asked to wear sustainable gowns, or hire or rewear one they already own.

No, this year's red carpet was more sombre than usual, with reports saying A-listers were asked to tone things down due to the war in Ukraine.

Gaga, Emma Watson, Daisy Ridley and Millie Bobby Brown were just a few actors and singers who wore all black on the red carpet, presumably as a mark of respect.

Others such as Millie Mackintosh wore ribbons in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'Several senior showbiz agents have advised stars to dress respectably, amid fears attention-grabbing dresses and suits would appear distasteful in light of the Ukraine conflict. The last thing they want is something like Lady Gaga's infamous meat dress or anything too controversial.'

Of course, this didn't stop others from wearing pops of colours - this is a film red carpet after all. Daisy Ridley wore a blue sequin dress, while Simone Ashley looked amazing in a neon pink Valentino suit, and West Side Story star Ariana DeBose stunned in a yellow gown.

Awards season is finally back to its former glory, with celebrities dressing up to the nines to celebrate the finest talent in music, film and music - and the BAFTAs 2022 red carpet at London's Royal Albert Hall did not disappoint.

Last year, the BAFTAs introduced a sustainable dress code, and while this year was no different, guests were also allegedly asked to consider wearing more sombre outfits, out of respect for Ukrainian people.

Celebrities like Millie Mackintosh showed their support in different ways, by wearing ribbons in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Others like Salma Hayek and Florence Pugh oped for discreet pops of colour, with Salma in a deep purple velvet gown and Florence in a black mini dress adorned with a pink bow at the back.

That said, there were plenty of pops of colour as well. Rebecca Hall wore a pale blue Dior dress, Simone Ashley a neon pink Valentino dress, Ariana DeBose in bright yellow and Daisy Ridley an ice blue sequin gown by Gucci.

When Brad Pitt won the Best Supporting Actor BAFTA for his role in Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood, his speech went viral - despite the fact that he wasn't actually there to pick up the award himself.

Co-star Margot Robbie accepted on his behalf, reading a speech from Brad (which even had a joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle).

She told the guests that Brad had 'family obligations', and now it has been reported that the actor skipped the award ceremony in order to spend time with his eldest son, Maddox.

A source close to Brad told The Sun: 'Maddox gave Brad the chance to talk and he dropped everything.

'Being a father is the most important thing in his life and he would do anything to repair their relationship.

'Maddox has been away at university so when Brad found out he was going to be around and they could have a conversation, he cancelled the UK trip.'

Brad and Maddox have reportedly had a 'difficult' relationship since the Ad Astra actor split from Angelina Jolie in 2016.

According to Us Weekly, Maddox has distanced himself from his father with a source claiming: 'Maddox doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son' but 'is very close with Angie'.

The 18-year-old appeared to break his silence on their relationship last year in a video obtained by In Touch Weekly, according to Page Six of the New York Post.

When asked whether his father would be visiting him at university, Maddox reportedly replied: 'I don’t know about that [or] what’s happening.'

Brad Pitt has been on fire with his award acceptance speeches this season. At the Golden Globes, he had Jennifer Aniston in stitches as he cracked jokes about his dating life, and has continued to make us all laugh at the BAFTAs.

On the night, Brad Pitt picked up the award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood.

However, as he couldn't make the ceremony due to a 'family obligation', his Once Upon a Time co-star Margot Robbie read Brad's acceptance speech on his behalf – and he didn't hold back.

'Hey Britain, I heard you just became single. Welcome to the club,' he began, referring to the UK's departure from the EU on Friday.

Ouch.

But it was the joke about Prince Harry – in front of Prince William and Kate Middleton, no less – that was particularly sharp.

Referring to his newly-acquired BAFTA, he wrote he was 'going to name the award Harry,' as he's 'excited about bringing it back to the States,' a nod to Harry and Meghan's recent stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. Yikes.

'His words, not mine!' Margot reminded the audience.

Oh, Brad. We're sure Kate and Wills saw the funny side.

Guests were asked to wear something they already owned or hire their outfit for this year's ceremony

This year's film BAFTAs are officially underway, as guests have arrived at London's Royal Albert Hall for the 2020 ceremony.

In a bid to be more environmentally-friendly, this year's organisers have encouraged guests to be more sustainable with their fashion choices for the evening, either by wearing something they already own or hiring an outfit instead of buying something new.

The Duchess of Cambridge is no exception, opting for a full-length Alexander McQueen dress she first wore back in 2012 for a State Dinner in Malaysia.

The gown is adorned with golden embroidered hibiscuses, the country's official flower. Here's why the Duchess wears three rings on her wedding finger.

The dress code isn't the only sustainable aspect of this evening's ceremony; the dinner menu afterwards is sourced entirely within the UK, and an entirely vegan option is available.

Some of the films expected to win big this evening are 1917, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood and Judy.

The 73rd annual film BAFTAs take place tonight at London's Royal Albert Hall, with 1917, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood and Judy expected to win big.

Following the ceremony, winners and guests enjoy a slap-up meal – and we've been given a sneak peak as to what's on the menu.

This year's guests are being encouraged to hire or re-wear an old outfit for the evening in order to be more sustainable, and this theme is carried through to dinner Everything on the menu has been sourced within the UK, and an entirely vegan option will also be available, much like the entirely plant-based SAGs menu.

So, what's on the menu, we hear you ask?

The meal begins with a vegan starter of caraway-infused carrot salad with celeriac moutabel, kelp pickled turnip, mushroom piccalilli, sweet vinegar reduction.

They'll then move on to either thyme-basted Shropshire chicken, chestnut mushroom barley with a ballotine of Potash Farm walnuts, Dorset truffle creamed parsnips and roasted beets – or the vegan option of aromatic Hodmedods Farm lentil and cauliflower tart with champ potatoes, roasted beets, lovage and parsley relish.

Dessert, also vegan, is an early season Yorkshire rhubarb fool, with a pear sphere and preserved raspberry jelly, meringue, toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds, followed by coffee and petits fours.

Guests will also be sipping on Champagne Taittinger, Villa Maria wine and San Pelligrino throughout the evening.

Now, is it too late to bag ourselves a ticket to dinner?

It looks like awards season organisers are making an effort to be more sustainable this season. The all-vegan Golden Globes menu made history earlier this month, while the SAG Awards also offered a plant-based menu.

Now the BAFTA committee is asking attendees to make more educated wardrobe choices, by re-wearing something they already own, or a sustainable option.

A spokesperson told Grazia, 'Sustainability is very important to Bafta, and we’re doing more than ever before. The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, Bafta is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.'

Guests will be given a guideline to dressing, created by the London College of Fashion, UAL's Centre of Sustainability. The spokesperson said, 'The LCF sustainable fashion guide is provided as one small part of our wider sustainability efforts where we are looking at every part of our awards to do more than ever before'.

Celebrities could either wear something they've worn before, hire a gown, wear vintage or invest in a sustainable designer such as Stella McCartney or Vivienne Westwood.

The Duchess of Cambridge is rumoured to attend, and she is known for rewearing dresses, even on the red carpet, like this Alexander McQueen number. More recently at the SAGs, Jennifer Aniston purchased the most gorgeous vintage Dior gown, and celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Cate Blanchett have often borrowed archive designs from brands such as Armani.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the stars rise to the occasion.

And we love them even more.

But it wasn’t Glenn Close in McQueen or Amy Adams in Prada that stole the attention, instead it was the presence of royalty, with the red carpet quite literally shut down when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge entered the ceremony.

And inside the event, the admiration for the royals grew ever bigger.

That’s right. It wasn’t Bradley Cooper’s tribute to Irina Shayk or Lady Gaga’s heartfelt social media statement that caused the most excitement, it was Kate and Wills finding their seats, with the royals making a grand entrance after everyone else.

And while A-listers seemed absolutely entranced by the royal couple, with Claire Foy’s reaction becoming a viral meme, it seems that the royals found all the attention a little embarrassing, joking about it being awkward.

As Kate took to her seat, she could be seen turning to William and saying, ‘It’s so quiet!’, something that her husband laughed along with, reportedly responding, ‘let’s sit down, quickly’.

The royal couple had an important duty that evening, with Prince William as the President of BAFTA tasked with presenting the Fellowship award to Thelma Schoonmaker, something that he seemed much more comfortable doing.

What a night!

This weekend marked the 2019 BAFTAs, with a host of A-listers and royalty taking to the Royal Albert Hall red carpet.

From Claire Foy in Oscar De La Renta to Glenn Close in McQueen, all eyes were on the outfits at the Royal Albert Hall - with the red carpet even getting temporarily shut down, but it was when the ceremony started that the noise grew even louder.

But instead of Bradley Cooper’s tribute to Irina Shayk or Lady Gaga’s heartfelt social media statement, it was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s presence that caused the most excitement.

The royal couple were announced to be attending the ceremony just weeks ago, and while this is hardly surprising – given the fact that Prince William is the President of BAFTA, he was given a very special job this year - presenting the Fellowship award.

And as he took to the stage, the Duke of Cambridge not only paid tribute to the award's recipient, Thelma Schoonmaker, he also announced some very exciting plans for BAFTA.

‘Catherine and I are delighted again to join you this evening as we part with another amazing year in film,’ Prince William announced to the audience. ‘BAFTA is known for achieving excellence and championing creativity, but at its heart it is an organisation that inspires and nurtures exceptional talent.’

Going on to make an exciting announcement on behalf of BAFTA, he continued: ‘I am a passionate supporter of BAFTA and I couldn’t be more proud of its ambitious plans to dramatically increase the support for new talent over the coming years.

‘To make this happen, BAFTA is completely developing its flagship headquarters and I would like to thank all of those who are so generously supporting this project. In doing so you are ensuring that creative talent from all backgrounds has the opportunity to shine. Tonight’s nominees and winners are a true testament to BAFTA’s dedication to finding and supporting that talent.’
