Joe Alwyn is one of the most talked-about men in the world, and with two major films this season - The Brutalist and Kinds of Kindness, he has been front and centre.

It is Alwyn's love life that makes him the most headlines, with the actor famously dating Taylor Swift from 2016 to 2023. And despite over a year passing since their break up, Alwyn is still the subject of non-stop dating speculation.

Earlier this year, the internet was convinced that the actor was dating A-lister Kendall Jenner after photographs emerged of the pair at an event in October. And this week, a flirty interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg went viral, with viewers noting the chemistry between the pair.

The interview took place on the red carpet of GQ's Men of the Year event in London, where the Chicken Shop Date host was talking with attendees.

The pair engaged in a sweet flirty on-camera conversation, with Dimoldenberg asking if Alwyn was "a party person or a party pooper", and inquiring about his favourite piece of London architecture.

The actor's choice - the Barbican performing arts centre, to which Dimoldenberg exclaimed: "Oh good, I knew you'd say that. Classic.

"I would say the Barbican too," she added. "We're so similar," to which Alwyn quipped: "We're kindred spirits".

The video unsurprisingly went viral, with viewers commenting that it's the most they've seen Alwyn open up in an interview.

"That's the first time I heard him speak," read one comment, while another said: "I've never seen him talk this much before."

Alwyn is known to be very private about his relationships, revealing in an interview with The Sunday Times earlier this year that the "noise" around his past relationship with Swift has made him more private.

"As everyone knows, we together - both of us, mutually - decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private," the actor explained in the rare sit-down. "It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now."

He continued: "I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years - that is a hard thing to navigate.

"I'm sure you can appreciate, given the level of noise and scrutiny about my past relationship, why I wouldn't want to just open the door to things like that right now."

What is bonfire blonde?

Simply put, bonfire blonde is that rich, slightly smoky hue of blonde that all the cool girls seem to be wearing right now. It's warm in tone and slightly darker, but still noticeably blonde rather than a biscuit brunette. It has a highlighted, balayage feel that adds depth to the look, rather than being one block colour. What makes it so appealing for this time of year is its earthy, natural vibe, which is much more suited to colder months than those hot summery ones.

How to achieve bonfire blonde at home

I'd always recommend seeing a stylist if you need a drastic colour change, but if you're already blonde, you could opt for a dye from home. Both L'Oréal Paris and Bleach London have great options.

Similarly, if you want to try out the look, you could use a hair gloss to amplify your bonfire blonde hue for a limited time. These are great for maintenance in-between salon appointments, too.

If it feels like Andrew Garfield is everywhere at the moment, that's because he absolutely is. Not only is he going viral for his excellent Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg, he has also been praised for his touching appearance on a recent episode of Sesame Street where he discusses grief, and he gave a heartbreaking reading on the New York Times Modern Love podcast.

Now, his We Live In Time co-star Florence Pugh has opened up about working alongside him for their upcoming movie, and she had the sweetest things to say. The pair star in the romantic drama as Almut Brühl (Pugh) and Tobias Durand (Garfield), and it's clear that the actors have a lot of chemistry off-screen, too. Their press tour clips have been everywhere online, and he even brought a cardboard cutout of Florence to the premiere as she couldn't be there in person. Adorable.

Taking to Instagram to discuss her time working on the film, Florence shared some behind the scenes photos and wrote: "My my my. My favourite bit. Sharing from the shoot. There’s such a lot of material I want to share from WLIT... It’s actually just been really beautiful though, watching the love of this movie grow, just feeling the audience waiting and ready to receive it has been quite a powerful thing to witness. It’s a piece of work and a piece of life that I’m so proud of."

Adding that she was thrilled to take on the role of Almut, she continued: "I’ve been desperate for a role like this for a few years. A woman who is current and relatable and going through all of the conversations modern women are going through daily. Not only am I constantly proud of the outcome, I’m just so aware of how many incredible masterminds came together to make it and then crew that made it possible."

While she acknowledged the work of writer Nick Paynes and director John Crowley, Florence also made time to thank her co-star Andrew, adding: "Thank you Andrew. I’ll forever be empowered by what we created together and the performer you made me want to be each day."

Most of us berate ourselves when we’re being awkward, whether we've tripped up in the street during a solo stroll or failed to deliver a punchline. But for writer, director, comedian, and content creator Amelia Dimoldenberg, now 27, it's what she's built a career out of. 

Through her masterfully cringe YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, where Amelia interviews celebrities like Ed Sheeran, Sean Paul, and Jade Thirlwall over chicken nuggets, the comedian has earned a following of more than a million. 

Amelia’s rise to internet stardom has opened doors to more traditional broadcasting gigs, such as presenting shows like Channel 4’s Celeb Come Dine with Me and Meet the Markles, ITV’s Don't Hate the Playaz, Dave’s Who Cares?, or interviewing artists at the BRITs and the MOBO Awards. 

Having used social media to launch her career, Amelia’s latest project explores the skills we need to navigate online life. Reframe, created in partnership with YouTube, discusses topics like hate speech, mental health, and the importance of switching off. 

To find out about how the online world can help us all achieve our career goals, Marie Claire sits down with Amelia to discuss her top tips. 

Amelia Dimoldenberg: "It's about understanding if something doesn't do well online, it's okay - because there will be another thing that will.”

1. Do it yourself 

Got an idea you believe in? Try and make it happen - no matter what, she shares. With so many different tools, resources and platforms online, you never know how far it could take you.

When she was just starting out, Amelia says she was “always” applying for jobs or grad schemes. “I really applaud people who actually get through in that way,” she says. “The competition is so steep. There's so many people who are great and there's just not enough spots.”

Amelia started Chicken Shop Date as a column interviewing musicians in her local youth club’s magazine. “I just thought it would be a fun idea, and also I wanted to go on a date because I hadn’t been on one,” says Amelia. 

Deciding that the format would work even better in video, she tried pitching the idea to TV channels. “Everyone said no,” says Amelia. “And so I was like, well I want to do it on my own then.”

With zero experience, Amelia started producing the series herself, handling everything from scouting locations to booking the camera operators and making the call sheet. Now, with just over a million subscribers on YouTube, Amelia proves that just because some people don’t back your idea, it doesn’t mean it won't take off. 

2. Find your own voice 

Developing a clear point of view and standing by it will help set you apart — whether that’s on social media, in interviews or through the work that you create. Amelia credits her distinctive, awkward interview style to the fact that she’s always been her own boss. 

Over the years, Amelia’s turned down offers from publishers wanting to buy Chicken Shop Date. She says: “I'm really happy that I've always stood my ground and kept it on YouTube, because I have creative control”. 

3. Listen to your friends

Of course, finding your own voice might be easier said than done. 

“Everyone says ‘just be yourself’ when you're making your content, but I think personally, that's really unattainable,” says Amelia. “What if you don't know who you are? I think knowing who you are is really hard, especially when you're young.” 

She advises asking your friends what they think you’re good at. “My friends would always be like, ‘you're so awkward and deadpan’,” she says. “I thought, okay, well, I'm going to be that.”

4. Make a big, ridiculous goal 

Even in the earliest days of Chicken Shop Date, Amelia had huge ambitions for the series. “I've always thought, I'm gonna get someone like Drake on it,” she says. 

This approach has clearly worked for Amelia. Fast forward eight years, and Drake has been in touch himself about one day appearing on the show. 

The comedian is quick to caveat that, while it pays off to have big goals, you need to balance your ambition with gratitude. “You have to make sure that you're not just running ahead to the next thing,” she says. “This is why I also try to work on enjoying successes. Constantly wanting more is inherently depressing, whereas being content is such an incredible feeling.”

5. Embrace the highs and the lows

Social media can be an incredible tool for promoting your work, but putting yourself out there can be anxiety-inducing. Even Amelia finds herself worrying about what people might think. It's understandable given the prevalence of hate speech online, something Amelia explores in detail in Reframe. 

And if something doesn’t perform well, Amelia finds it hard not to let it get to her. “I'm still figuring out how to deal with it,” she says. “But I think you just need to lean into the highs and lows. Not everything that you put out is going to be a hit, because sometimes you misjudge it or the algorithms mess you over. So I think it's just about understanding that if something doesn't do well online, that's okay. Because there will be another thing that will.”

Considering how much she has achieved already, we've got no doubt Amelia has got many more hits yet to come. And through her platform, she's paving the way for more women to triumph in comedy and beyond — being their best awkward selves.
