Maybe it’s the Christmas break, maybe it’s the fact that I never really recovered from four years of WFH, but I find myself more often than not on days that I have to go into the office staring helplessly at my wardrobe stuffed with frocks and all-manner of bejewelled accessories puzzling over what to wear.

Of course, I know the benefits of a capsule wardrobe (I’m reminded of it every time I find myself despairing over what to wear), but I’ve never really considered investing in one. Until now.

As more of us head back to the office (reluctantly or otherwise), workwear seems primed for a renaissance. We’ve had ‘Corpcore’ and ‘Office Siren’, but perhaps—as it seems offices are here for the long haul—the canny thing is to look towards longevity rather than fleeting trends.

And so, after many hours pulling inspiration from Pinterest, I found myself admiring the wardrobe of Amal Clooney.

Sure, she’s married to George, but more than that she’s a human rights advocate, barrister, and international law expert. I figure anyone who’s spent that much time at the UN knows a thing or two about a power suit.

In the same interview, George admitted he was nervous about having twins, Ella and Alexander, who are now five.

But when they do open up about their romance, it is nothing short of beautiful, and has us all falling in love with the couple even more.

The 44-year-old human rights lawyer has admitted she feels "lucky" to have found the love of her life in George, 60, and to be a mother to their twins Alexander and Ella, both four.

Amal and George met in 2013, and by 2014 they were engaged and married. The couple tied the knot in Venice in September 2014, and welcomed their twins in June 2017.

George has previously admitted he waited until his 50s to have children because he wanted to find "the right person".

Speaking previously on the Today Show, the Ocean's Eleven star said: "There are some people, their goal was: 'I have to have children.' Mine wasn't. She wrote for Airmail: 'There’s a story doing the rounds that while Carolyn Bartholomew, Diana’s former flatmate, was waiting for the wedding service to start, she turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan.

However, Harry and Meghan are said to be good friends with the Clooneys now and reportedly spent time with them at their Italian villa in Lake Como a few months later.

Finding Freedom claims that they flew to join the A-listers for a short getaway, with a source saying: 'Meghan and Amal spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool and playing with the twins while George and Harry checked out George's motorbike collection. Harry took one of them out with one of his protection officers.'

A number of celebrities have donated funds to the coronavirus relief effort, from Blakey Lively and Ryan Reynolds offering up $1 million to food banks in the US and Canada to Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation pledging $5 million to Direct Relief, Feeding America, and The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Singer Ciara also donated one million meals to an organisation providing food to food banks and shelters across Western Washington, Donatella Versace made a 200,000 euro donation to the intensive care department of San Raffaele hospital in Milan, and Angelina Jolie has offered $1 million to combat child hunger.

George and Amal Clooney are no different, with the couple putting forward over a million dollars towards several charities and foundations across the globe.

According to Deadline, the couple has donated a quarter of a million dollars each (£202,000) to The Motion Picture and Television Fund, the SAG-AFTRA FUND, and Los Angeles Mayors Fund.

George is a board member of The Motion Picture and Television Fund which has been providing temporary financial support for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This includes health insurance, mental health support, food, and other essentials.

The Los Angeles Mayors fund is helping to provide childcare for frontline workers in the city, including emergency services and health care workers.

They also pledged $300,000 (£242,000) to the NHS, Lebanese Food Bank, and the relief efforts in the Italian Lombardo region.

And it's not just the celebs who are donating to worthy causes during these unprecedented times. The social media campaign Run For Heroes has also been started to raise money for the NHS by running, walking or cycling 5k, donating £5 to NHS Charities Together (a national appeal to protect the welfare of NHS staff and equip them to fight the coronavirus) and nominating five friends to do the same.

The Just Giving page has now listed over £1.5 million in donations.

George made news for having the new Duchess’ back earlier this year, calling out the online abuse she was facing during her pregnancy, announcing: ‘She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself. And since the birth of baby Louis, it seems like the couples are as close as ever, with reports emerging this week that the foursome like to have special dinners together.

As part of the exciting position, Amal will campaign for media freedom across the globe, and safety for all journalists at work.

However, the BBC has reported Meghan Markle’s 41-year-old BFF will not receive any payment for her work (could we love her any more?)

Speaking about her latest venture, sited on E!, she said: ‘Through my legal work defending journalists, I have seen first-hand the ways in which reporters are being targeted and imprisoned in an effort to silence them and prevent a free media.

‘I welcome the UK Government's focus on this issue at a time when journalists are being killed and imprisoned at record levels all over the world, and I look forward to working on new legal initiatives that can help to ensure a more effective international response.’

The mother-of-two - who has twins Alexander and Ella with her actor hubby - has thrown support behind MAJOR legal dealings involving the press over the years.

In 2015 Amal made up the legal team helping to release two Al Jazeera journalists jailed in Egypt, before she represented Nadia Murad, who was captured and tortured by Islamic State.

According to reports, Connie Simpson is an expert who has perviously worked with celebrity parents from Emily Blunt and John Krasinski to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, as well as the Clooneys of course.

‘I’ll tell Meghan that in all the things you can give a person, the most important thing you can give them is yourself and your love,’ the celebrity nanny reportedly told The Star. ’The baby is going to have no earthly idea that she’s Meghan Markle or that she’s Prince Harry’s wife and in line to the throne. They will just know her for being the one to supply that milk to her and give her that comfort.’

She continued: ‘I’d also advise her to not be overwhelmed by people’s advice. While she may take in information from people like her sister-in-law, don’t try to apply it all to her life because it’s not all going to work. There’s a beautiful little bean coming into the world so they need to enjoy what they made.’

Almost 2,000 migrant children have been separated from their parents due to Trump’s ‘zero-tolerance’ immigration policy

George and Amal Clooney are the latest celebrities to take action against US President Donald Trump's ‘zero-tolerance’ immigration policy which has led to the separation of migrant children – some as young as 18 months – from their parents. The children are then kept in ‘temporary shelters’, which have been described by reporters as hundreds of children waiting in cages with concrete floors.

According to Amnesty International, these acts deliberately cause such mental suffering that they constitute torture – inflicted not just on adults facing harsh choices, but also children who cannot make choices at all. The Clooney Foundation is the latest to contribute to ending this abuse with a donation of $100,000 to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, a human-rights group that advocates for immigrant children.

George and Amal are the latest following a stream of outrage from celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Alyssa Milano, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend who have teamed with UNICEF and the ACLU to defend the rights of migrant families.

Alongside the donation, the Clooney’s foundation released a statement explaining their emotional motivations to take action; ‘At some point in the future our children will ask us: "Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centers?" And when we answer yes, they’ll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood, we can’t change this administration’s policy, but we can help defend the victims of it.’

Donald Trump has since bowed to public pressure and signed an executive order promising to 'keep families together' in migrant detentions. However, Trump’s signing of the executive order is not the end of the issue. This legislation could see migrant children detained indefinitely with their parents, and there are concerns about the lack of plans in place to reunite the 2,300 children currently in detention with their parents.

Amal helped her settle into London...can we get in on her recommendations?

To be honest, we didn’t realise that Amal Clooney and Meghan Markle were close until the human rights lawyer showed up at the royal wedding with her beau George Clooney on her arm. It turns out the two have a ‘natural friendship’ as Amal has been helping Meghan get to grips with England and we’re just waiting for somebody to green-light their buddy movie.

Moving to London is a massive change for anybody (even if you’re just moving down from somewhere up north), but moving over from the States and into the Royal family certainly must be even more stressful. Luckily, Amal was around to show Meghan the ropes according to a source close to the pair.

An insider told PEOPLE, ‘Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while [and share] many interests.’

It’s not surprising that the two gravitated towards one another, as Amal’s successful career fighting for international human rights and Meghan’s humanitarian work is definitely a common thread. The two were apparently introduced by a mutual friend and their friendship blossomed when Meghan moved to the UK.

The source continued, ‘Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life. It was a very natural friendship from day one.’

Besides clueing Meghan into the nitty gritty of the London scene, Amal also played an indirect hand on the Suits actress’ wedding day. Meghan ended up hiring Amal Clooney’s hair stylist Miguel Perez for the state occasion, who was supposedly introduced to her through the barrister.

It's pretty symbolic

While everyone was talking about Rihanna's Pope-tastic outfit and Katy Perry's angelic wings at the Met Gala 2018, others were wondering why Amal Clooney was wearing trousers, and whether she was actually on theme (which was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, FYI).

Well, while a little more subtle than the likes of Solange and Blake Lively's dresses, Amal's choice was actually pretty powerful.

It was designed by Richard Quinn, who lest we forget had the actual Queen on his front row at London Fashion Week.

First off, there are the trousers, which are symbolic in themselves. Richard Quinn said in a statement, 'Her decision to wear trousers was her way of depicting female empowerment and modern religion by referencing the stringent oppression that women faced. Amal is recognised for her work in international law and human rights so it was important to us that her look made a statement and reinforced the amazing work that she does.'

Others argued that the floral print on her bustier weren't in keeping with the religious theme, but again, there was a secret meaning to it.

'Amal wanted to include roses and lilies in the print because of their religious iconographies. The rose is an icon of veneration in the pre-Christian era, and was used in ancient Rome to symbolize devotion to the goddess Venus, and it was important to Amal that the print subtly referenced religion so we used heavy brush marks to mimic the look of a stain glass window on a beautifully detailed print,' the designer revealed.

Easily missed, but powerful once you know it.

And we're jealous.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding is fast approaching, with the royal couple’s nuptials set for 19th May at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

With just a month to go until the big day, there’s plenty of wedding prep for Meghan and Harry, from finalising the seating arrangements to OK-ing the flowers and briefing the bridal party, with Prince Harry supposedly only recently making Prince William his best man and selecting the wedding photographer.

When it comes to the bride and groom’s appearances however, it’s safe to say the couple are more than prepared, with the details under wraps until the big day.

And while Meghan Markle’s wedding dress designer has yet to be revealed, it has been reported that her ‘something borrowed’ is coming from Amal Clooney.

That’s right. Meghan is reportedly borrowing Amal Clooney’s hairdresser for the royal wedding next month.

Miguel Perez is a well-known celebrity stylist, who has been working with Meghan for her recent public appearances, but the Chelsea-based hair stylist actually worked with Amal for years, reportedly meeting Meghan through her.

Does this mean George and Amal Clooney will be attending the big day? It looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

'I just thought, you know, we were buddies.'

George and Amal Clooney are one of the sweetest A-List couples, with the Hollywood actor and human rights lawyer giving us all relationship goals on a regular basis.

On David Letterman's new talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, George Clooney opened up about his romance with the human rights lawyer. He went back to the very beginning, explaining how he was just hanging out at his home in Lake Como when his talent agent dropped by and asked if he could bring Amal along.

George said, 'It's the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, 'I'm stopping by and can I bring my friend?' And I was like, 'Of course'.'

Before Amal arrived though, George Clooney's agent already knew a romance was in the cards. George revealed, 'He said, 'I met this woman who's coming to your house who you're going to marry.''

'We just talked and we stayed up all night talking and then, you know, I got her email address because she was going to send me some pictures of my parents and then, we starting writing,' he told Letterman.

However, it seems like even Hollywood's silver fox can be a little clueless. He said, 'I didn't know if she wanted to go out with me. I just thought, you know, we were buddies.'

George's father, Nick Clooney, previously offered more insight on the situation in an interview with PEOPLE last year.

Nick Clooney revealed then, 'Nina [George's mum] and I were actually the ones who answered the door when Amal came in,' George's dad Nick explained. 'She introduced herself to us and we talked. She was obviously very charming, gorgeous and so clearly accomplished, but by the time we had supper that night, it was clear there was a kindness to her and an inclusiveness.'

Sparks were evidently flying from the word go, with Nick Clooney explaining, 'By the end of supper, I started looking over at Nina and saying, "Look out, this could be trouble for this young man!"'

The couple wed in 2014, and welcomed twins just last July, with their spokesperson, Stan Rosenfield, confirming the news in a hilariously cheeky email to USA Today.

'This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.’

Amal Clooney might have only given birth to her twins in June, but she's already heading back to work. The 39-year-old human rights barrister met with Nikki Haley, the U.S.'s ambassador to the United Nations, as well as the the U.N. Security Council this week to continue the fight against ISIS.

The Associated Press reports that during the meeting, the security council agreed to offer Iraq the U.N's help with their investigations and collections of evidence against ISIS, holding them accountable for war crimes.

Amal is representing Yazidi victims who have been raped and kidnapped by ISIS and reportedly told the council: 'Yazidis and other ISIS victims want justice in a court of law, and they deserve nothing less.'

Her back-to-work outfit was impeccable - a cropped red blazer teamed with an A-line skirt, complimented with a tan bag and nude pumps.

However, it's the bold orange pussy-bow blouse that has really got the fashpack talking.

It's Amal's first day back since the arrival of her two tiny bundles of joy, Alexander and Ella. George Clooney has spoken publicly about what it's like to be a new father, saying: 'Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit. I really didn’t think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins. Don’t make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride.

'I just have to clean the barf off of my tux. It used to be my barf but now it’s the twins’ barf. So it all works out.’

Although E! reported that she planned to take six months maternity leave, it looks like Amal is ready to go back to work - and, of course, she's doing it with style.

George and Amal Clooney have had a pretty full-on year. Not only did George sell his tequila company for a very tidy one billion dollars, but the couple became parents for the first time.

Amal gave birth to twins, Alexander and Ella, in June and the Clooneys have spent the last few months getting to grips with parenthood. George got very real about fatherhood, and they are even rumoured to have installed James Bond worthy security in their homes to protect their little ones.

In a recent interview, George opened up about the twins' personalities, telling Entertainment Tonight: 'They start out with a personality right off the bat.

'[Alexander] is a thug already… He’s a moose! Literally, he just sits and he eats. She’s very elegant, and all eyes. She looks like Amal – thank god.'

But despite being thrilled new parents, the couple have close to confirmed that they won't be having any more children.

When asked about plans to extend their family, Amal told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I'm 39. I already had them quite late.'

While it's a completely personal decision and nothing to do with anyone else, the news seems to have sent shock waves across the world with the general response to the interview being something along the lines of: 'What! No more Clooney babies! This is an outrage!'

As shocking as it is that George and Amal have decided not to commit to numerous kids to appease celebrity-baby-hungry fans, if they're happy with the two beautiful babies they already have then good for them.

Earlier this year George and Amal Clooney brought two children into the world with the birth of twins Ella and Alexander. Now they've pledged to help 3000 others.

In a new partnership between the Clooney Foundation For Justice, UNICEF and Google, £1.7 million of funds will be donated to seven public schools in Lebanon. The money will help to pay for extended school hours that allow Syrian refugee children living in the country to attend classes.

A statement released by the Clooneys said, 'Thousands of young Syrian refugees are at risk - the risk of never being a productive part of society. Formal education can help change that. That's our goal with this initiative. We don't want to lose an entire generation because they had the bad luck of being born in the wrong place at the wrong time.'

Since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Lebanon has been overwhelmed with the arrival of refugees from its neighbouring country. According to data on the UN Refugee Agency website there are now over one million registered Syrian refugees living in Lebanon, many of them children in need of education.

An experienced human rights barrister, British-Lebanese lawyer Amal Clooney (previously Amal Alamuddin) moved with her family to Britain from Lebanon when she was two years old during the Lebanese Civil War.

Amal has already worked on behalf of marginalised groups - including victims of the Armenian Genocide - and last September made a damning speech to the United Nations about its failure to stop the mass enslavement of Yazidi women by ISIS.

Though her marriage to Clooney in 2014 has brought increased press attention to her legal work, she's become pretty adept at batting off unwanted questions. Asked in 2015 what designer she was wearing to court by a reporter she quipped, 'Ede & Ravenscroft', the name of the British tailors who make her black court gown.

George and Amal have been very busy lately, not only have they welcomed two new additions to their family but they've already jetted young Alexander and Ella off to Italy for some much needed r&r time after a whole month on this planet.

You might even be mistaken for thinking that the the new family were planning on taking things easy abroad, especially now George has sold his tequila business and made a tidy $1 billion doing so.

It doesn't sound as though the pair have any plans to slow things down any time soon though, as rumour has it George and Amal are in talks to renew their wedding vows.

Speaking to Closer magazine, a source revealed: 'Amal and George are even planning a welcome party for the twins on their third wedding anniversary, when they will also be renewing their vows in front of close family and friends.'

George and Amal first tied the knot in Venice back in 2014, with their original ceremony hosting an array of famous faces including the likes of Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

The source also revealed that Amal has 'had a change of heart about being a working mum' since the birth of her twins and is considering a step back from her high profile cases as a barrister to instead focus on being a full-time mother.

'She made a vow to George that she'll take an extended leave of maternity, plus pull out of dangerous cases and take on lower-profile work,' they added.

'She wants to be home for the babies,' the source revealed.

Last month, George and Amal Clooney welcomed two bundles of joy to the world, and although we're still yet to get a picture of the twins we know that they were named Alexander and Ella for this sweet reason.

In true A-list baby style, the month-old twins are already jetting off for some much needed r&r in the beautiful Italian mountains. The Clooneys have spent the last month at their tranquil English countryside home, with George and Amal getting to grips with parenthood for the first time, but they were spotted stepping off a plane in Milan on Monday.

It is thought that the family are heading to George's Lake Como estate for their getaway, which just goes to show that even tiny Hollywood babies are having a better summer than we are.

The fact that George and Amal are taking the little ones to Italy for their first holiday is significant. The couple met at George's luxury Lake Como villa in 2013, and they were engaged less than a year later. They then returned in 2014, marrying in a lavish ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice.

When the couple announced the birth of their twins, their spokesperson said: 'This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives.

'Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.'

The fact that George managed to sell his tequila brand, Casamigos, for a cool $1 billion shortly after the birth of his twins no doubt aided his recovery.

It turns out that there are actually two very special meanings behind their children's names, with George and Amal supposedly deciding on them before the birth.

An insider told Life&Style magazine that Alexander, meaning ‘defender of man’ (and the 16th most popular name for baby boys last year according to BabyCentre) was named after Alexander the Great.

Ella on the other hand is said to have been named after American jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald - close friend to George's late aunt, Rosemary Clooney.

Earlier this week George and Amal Clooney welcomed not one but two bundles of joy. The couple only announced that they were expecting twins in February, and many of their celebrity friends, including Cindy Crawford and Matt Damon, have spoken about how excited they were to become parents.

Now that George and Amal have welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander, to the world many have been speculating about why they may have opted for those monikers - and the meanings behind them are actually very sweet.

A-listers usually choose unusual names for their children (from Gywneth Paltrow's Apple, to Cheryl and Liam's Bear), but the Clooney's have shied away from the Hollywood norm for these classics.

Ella is a traditionally English name, a shortened version of Eleanor or Ellen, and is defined in Old English as 'fairy woman', but has also been translated to mean 'light'.

Alexander, however, goes all the way back to the Greeks and Alexander the Great. It means 'defender of man' and was the 16th most popular name for baby boys last year according to BabyCentre. Coincidentally it's also the middle name of our little Prince George.

It feels like we've been waiting ages for our favourite A-listers to give birth. We've been eagerly waiting for a heads up that Beyoncé has gone into labour with her twins, and it feels like we've been waiting forever for Margot Robbie to confirm or deny those pregnancy rumours.

But one couple that might be beating the celebrity baby rush is George and Amal Clooney.

They announced that they were expecting twins back in Februrary, and their due date was estimated to be around June. George has been gushing about becoming a father for the first time, and his mum even revealed the sex of the babies.

So when George cancelled an event over the weekend the internet went into overdrive with rumours that Amal was in hospital and about to give birth to their two babies imminently.

George was due to attend the Aurora Price For Awakening Humanity event in Armenia but decided to put off travelling, sparking speculation that Amal was in labour.

He addressed the rumours in a video message, telling fans: 'I really would have been [in Yerevan] but if I came there and my wife had twins while I was there, I could never come home.'

Reports suggest that the couple are currently situated in their Berkshire home awaiting the arrival of their little ones, with an insider having previously said: 'George is getting a little anxious about the babies' arrival. But he's nervous in an excited, good way!

'George is staying put in London until Amal gives birth. They'll figure out their schedules after that. For now, they're just hunkering down.'

The A-listers are expecting a wave of babies this year. Everyone from Beyoncé to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has confirmed that they are expecting the patter of tiny feet, and we are so excited about the number of Hollywood summer bubbas.

As George and Amal Clooney prepare to become parents for the first time to not one but two babies, many of their famous friends have been talking about how the couple are feeling. Matt Damon admitted that his Oceans 11 co-star was feeling nervous about parenthood.

Now George's good friend, Cindy Crawford, has given us a huge hint about the sex of the Clooney twins.

Taking to Instagram, Cindy shared a picture of two baby grows, one with the word 'Casa' and the other with the word 'Migos' on the front. For anyone who isn't in the know, Casa Migos is the tequila company that Cindy's husband, Rande Gerber, owns with George. So she gets bonus cute points for this.

But it's the colouring of the words that has everyone speculating, as one has pink lettering, the other, blue.

George Clooney's mum previously announced that the couple were expecting a boy and a girl, so this only serves as further evidence that they're expecting one of each.

It’s official! George and Amal Clooney are expecting twins - totally stealing Beyonce's thunder. 

Beyonce took to Instagram last week to reveal that she's expecting twins with husband Jay Z later this year. And after what feels like weeks of ‘are they, aren’t they?’, it’s now been confirmed that George and Amal Clooney will also be welcoming in twins in 2017.

The news was (weirdly) announced on US show The Talk, with the presenter Julie Chen announcing, ‘Beyoncé is not the only superstar expecting twins. Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney!’

Apparently, said twins are arriving in June, according the the couple’s rep. That Julie Chen must be well connected indeed.

George and Amal tied the know in Venice in 2014, and these will be the couple’s first children.

In other celebrity baby news, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is also pregnant with Jason Statham’s baby. 

Honestly, it’s like they’re totally trying to overshadow Bey. Although Rosie hasn't (yet) beaten Bey to the top spot for most liked Instagram photo, but that could all change.

Human rights attorney/global badass/style icon Amal Clooney, who happens to be married to Hollywood A-lister George Clooney, who has been quoted saying lovely things about his wife, is one of the most inspirational women on the planet, no? During a Q&A at the Texas Conference for Women yesterday where Amal was the keynote speaker, she said:

'I think growing up my mother was definitely a role model, she was always a working woman and someone who is independent and cared about her career and cared about being independent but also had balance. She never lost her femininity and she believed the balance was important and that is something that stuck with me.'

And obviously Amal's mum is a massive badass too. (Would you expect anything less?) Noted journalist Bariaa Alamuddin grew up in Tripoli, Libya, before moving to Beirut, Lebanon, for her job in Lebanese national television. She raised her daughters, Amal and Tala, in London after having to flee war-ravaged Lebanon and worked at Al-Hayat newspaper.

It didn't take long before Bariaa was interviewing the likes of U.S President Bill Clinton, former Cuban President Fidel Castro, former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Amal also mentioned another name, highlighting associate Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor: 'When I was a junior lawyer she was incredible to watch in action in court, how she had so many cases in her head and firing questions at these lawyers standing before her. But then also on the personal side, [she] was just lovely and I was the most junior and irrelevant person in her chamber … and she was very charming and very balanced.'

And she ended her keynote speech with a general high-five to women everywhere: 'The worst thing that we can do as women is not stand up for each other. … Because if we are united, there is no limit to what we can do.'

In a no-holds-barred interview, Amal spoke of how 'perplexed' she is by Trump's popularity

Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has used her first interview with the BBC to call out GOP frontrunner Donald Trump for the sexist and racist comments that he has made during his campaign.

During the interview, Amal, whose parents are Muslim, questions why he isn’t being challenged enough for his controversial views, which include banning Muslims from the United States.

‘When you listen to what the leading candidate on the Republican side has been saying about building walls, about excluding Mexicans and a complete shutdown of all Muslims entering in, and if you actually look at what he specifically said in that now infamous speech about Muslims, he kept saying, “They only want jihad. They don't believe in our way of life. They don't respect our system,”’ she said.

Amal, who was born in Beirut and raised in London continued: ‘And when he says 'they' and you watch the media coverage afterwards, people, I think, should have been saying 'Do you mean the 1.5 billion people around the world who fit that description? Do you mean the people who are U.S. citizens who are members of your military who are, the vast majority of whom are not violent or extremists in any way?'

She’s also added that she is ‘perplexed’ that his comments haven’t dampened his popularity within the party.

Speaking of the outrageously sexist comments Trump has made, Amal said: 'There's an ad on the TV in the U.S. where they went through all these statements he's made against women and you watch that and you think “Gosh.”

'He has a really high negative rating. I don't think he's going to get much of the women's vote as a result of that.'

Which is we're so excited by the news that Amal is launching a new annual scholarship in partnership with 100 LIVES (that's the initiative which created the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity - a $1 million global humanitarian prize recognising those who put themselves at risk in order to help others survive).

Created specifically to strengthen cross-cultural education, the 'Amal Clooney Scholarship' will send one female student from Lebanon to UWC College - an international, mixed boarding school in Armenia, which currently teaches 190 students from 64 countries - so that she can complete a two year international baccalaureate programme.

To be in with a chance of being awarded the scholarship, you need to demonstrate 'exemplary' academic performance, and show a remarkable interest in human rights and international issues.

The first 'Amal Clooney Scholarship' will be awarded to 16 year old Pamela Tebchrany – a Lebanese student who graduated top of her class and is fluent in Arabic, French and English. She will be using the scholarship to pursue her interests in human rights and women’s equality.

'This scholarship will give young women from Lebanon the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Amal. 'Cross-cultural learning and studying abroad can be transformative. I am grateful to 100 LIVES for helping to open doors for these bright and talented young women.'

It seems George and Amal Clooney are ready to start a family. A canine family, that is. Now in their second year of marriage, the A-list couple look to be expanding their brood, after being spotted adopting a four-year-old rescue pup by the name of Millie. Awww....

The couple adopted their new four-legged friend from the San Gabriel Valley Human Society, in California after 'searching for a basset hound and seeing Millie's picture on Petfinder', a pet adoption website. According to the shelter's official website, the cute basset hound mix had been found homeless earlier this month after begging for scraps outside a restaurant.

After the shelter arranged a meet and greet between the canine and Hollywood stars, Millie and the Clooneys 'hit it off and the happy, new family headed home together!' The shelter has since posted an adorable photo of the Clooneys with their new pet pooch on their Facebook page, alongside the caption: 'ADOPTED! Millie was adopted by George Clooney and his wife Amal!! Millie, a bassett hound, now has a new brother named Louie who is also a rescue! Congratulations and thank you for adopting!!'

Having impressed wearing a lace one-shouldered jumpsuit for a dinner date with Stella McCartney in Notting Hill on Wedneday, the human rights laywer looked super-chic yesterday.

For her outing in the capital, Amal slipped on a wide-legged jumpsuit which has raced up our list of the fashion items we're lusting over right now.

Khaki and featuring buttons on either side, Amal's cropped all-in-one made a sophisticated nod to the military trend.

Naturally, Amal - who wore her gorgeously glossy brunette locks in her trademark bouncy style - didn't let her sartorial standards slip when it came to accesories.

The 37-year-old added a couple of inches to her already statuesque frame with a pair of tan open-toe heels, hid her peepers behind supersized shades and carted her essentials in a large brown tote.

Amal's appearance in London comes the day after attended a meeting at the city's House Of Commons.

Once inside, she was pictured alongside David Cameron, MP Fiona Bruce and Laila Ali - the wife of the former Maldivian President, Mohamed Nasheed.

Amal has been working closely with Laila for some time on the release of her politician husband who's currently serving time in jail.

While Amal's busy working, her handsome other half George Clooney has taken the opportunity to head off on a boys' trip with Rande Gerber.

Both motorcycle enthusiasts, the 54-year-old and Cindy Crawford's husband are biking along America's famous Route 66.

Rande, 53, has been sharing regular updates from the duo's jaunt on Instagram.

'9 hour ride in 103 degree heat through the most beautiful mountains and small towns. Stopped at Motel 6, super 7 and all the other roadside sleepers and couldn't get a room,' he posted earlier this week alongside a scenic shot.

'Then we came across this. A little slice of heaven somewhere in Utah off a long dirt road.'

It hasn't gone unnoticed by us that Amal Clooney has been wearing her fair share of John Galliano for Maison Margiela recently. It's a move that stirred up some controversy, with some critics asking whether it was appropriate for a human rights lawyer to be working with someone found guilty of making anti semitic remarks.

Amal first wore Margiela to the MET Gala in New York and again to the Japan premiere of husband George Clooney's film Tomorrowland. Now we know why. Amal has teamed up with stylist and consultant Alexis Roche, who also happens to be John Galliano's long-term boyfriend.

Roche is a big name in the fashion world and also counts other ultra-fash stars like Kendall Jenner, Marion Cotillard and Liu Wei among his clients.

Amal has only worked with Alexis twice - and both times he dressed her in Maison - for the rest of her high profile events Amal has been in complete control.

During his recent promotional interviews for new movie Tomorrowland, George has been happily chatting about his wife of nine months, saying that she doesn't use a stylist.

'She's stunning and has a great sense of style - there's no stylist or anything,' he explained to E! News. 'She just comes out like that and she shows up and she looks stunning.

'She does it while she's got 11 cases going - literally,' he added. 'So she's an amazing woman.'

The smitten star also revealed that the couple have a pact to never spend more than seven nights apart. 'Our adjustments are figuring out our schedules,' he said. 

'Our deal is neither of us can be more than a week away and so far in general that has worked out pretty well.

'She is a barrister, which means she is independently employed and able to do her job in different places, so we try to move our schedules around to fit in with each other.'

He went on: 'From the moment I met her until now, spending the rest of my life with her has been the most important thing and something that brings me the most joy in the world.'

Amal made her slender legs look even longer by accessorising her trousers with towering tan wedges featuring boho-inspired tassels on the ankle straps.

Amal Clooney is already a successful human right's lawyer, activist and author. But it looks like the barrister might be preparing to take on a diplomatic role.

The 37-year-old was spotted leaving a restaurant in New York clutching information about the NYU School of Law's new course, 'The Law and Practice of the UN: An Advanced Course for Diplomats', as she left Morandi restaurant in the West Village.

So, could a role as a diplomat be in the offing? It certainly would be a good fit for Mrs Clooney. Amal has already achieved more in the last decade than most lawyers do in a lifetime. She's represented high-profile clients like Julian Assange and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, fought for the Elgin Marbles to be returned to Greece, and worked to free three Al-Jazeera journalists imprisoned in Egypt.

She's currently teaching and sharing her vast legal expertise by teaching as a visiting professor at the prestigious Columbia Law School, while George shoots his latest movie, Money Monster, around Wall Street.

In a statement about her new role, Amal said: 'It is an honour to be invited as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School alongside such a distinguished faculty and talented student pool.

'I look forward to getting to know the next generation of human rights advocates studying here.'

For her first day on campus, Amal looked totally read to shape all those bright young minds in an all-white ensemble topped off with a Burberry trench and multi-coloured, printed Oscar de la Renta heels.

There will be a €500 for anyone who approaches George Clooney's luxury villa by Lake Como in Italy

If you were thinking of popping round to see George and Amal Clooney next time you're near Lake Como, think again. The major of Laglio in Italy has declared it illegal for anyone to approach his homes on the shore of Lake Como with a penalty of up to a €500 (£370) fine for anyone who does so.

What's too close then? Well, basically anyone who leaves their car or boat within 100 metres the Clooneys' villas will be liable to pay the fine.

Amal Clooney's career continues to fly as it's announced she's just landed a job as a professor at Columbia University. The top barrister will be a guest lecturer at the New York university's law school, teaching the first-year elective course "L6276: Human Rights".

Amal is one of the world's most successful human rights lawyers and her biog on the university's website makes very impressive reading. She has worked on some of the most important international human rights cases of our time, including representing Julian Assange, head of Wikileaks, in his extradition proceedings against Sweden and representing Al Jazeera journalists who had been detained in Egypt following an unfair trial.

Mrs Clooney has also been a senior advisor to Kofi Annan when he was the UN’s Envoy to Syria as well as being one of the UK's leading experts on the use of sexual violence in conflicts. We think it's safe to say those Columbia first year students are in for one hell of an education.

Amal lives in London with husband George Clooney, but it's thought that the power couple will move to New York for the spring while she does her thang and he begins filming his next movie, Money Monster.

Seriously, there's a time and a place for that. And during a hearing at the European Court of Human Rights about one the the biggest tragedies of the last 100 years is not one of them.

Writing about his conversation with the lawyer, he posted on Twitter: 'I ask Amal Clooney about the fashion speculation. She laughed and pointed to her robes, "I'm wearing Ede & Ravenscroft".'

Amal Clooney brought a healthy dose of class to the Golden Globes 2015 red carpet last night. In a sea of blinding Hollywood veneers and vacuous showbiz schmoozing, the human rights lawyer was the picture of serenity and sophistication.

With a clearly smitten George Clooney on her arm, Amal was a cut above the rest. Here are all the ways she (and by default George) was the best thing about the Golden Globes 2015:

1. Those gloves. We'll be honest, the Marie Claire office is divided by the white elbow-length gloves Amal chose to accessorise her black Dior Haute Couture gown with, but we just love that they were homemade - by her own fair hand, no less. 'She sewed them this morning,' George revealed on the red carpet. 'She’s very handy.' 

2. The trophy husband. Golden Globe hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler summed up the greatness of Amal perfectly with their best gag of the night. 'George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person U.N. commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight… her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.' Excellent.

3. Clooney's gushing acceptance speech. While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement award, the actor got uncharacteristically soppy about his new wife. 'It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love,' he said. 'Even better if you've been waiting your whole life and when your whole life is 53 years… Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be more proud to be your husband.' Damn right, George.

4. George wore his wedding tux. Clearly still basking in the warm memory of his Italian wedding to Amal, the actor wore his wedding tux to the first event of awards season. And can you blame him? It was custom-made by Mr Georgio Armani himself and even has his name stitched into the label.

5. Amal used the red carpet to make a political statement. Along with the gloves, Amal accessorised her Dior couture with a badge that read 'Je Suis Charlie' as a tribute to the Charlie Hebdo staff who were murdered in Paris last week. She explained on the red carpet that her look had been 'customised in solidarity with the French people who’ve gone through a terrible week.' A powerful touch. 

6. She doesn't do shots, obvs. During an extremely awkward interview with Giuliana Rancic, Amal and George were offered shots of his Casamigos tequila, but they politely refused. No, no. Amal was in Athens to start advising the Greek government on its bid to reclaim the Parthenon Marbles, also known as the Elgin Marbles, from the British Museum, where they have been since 1816. No biggie, then.

With the world watching, the 36-year-old arrived in the Greek capital to take part in the long-running cultural row and was greeted by dozens of photographers.

Amal's chambers, Doughty Street, confirmed the lawyer's role in the negotiations, as well as her formal name change from Alamuddin to Clooney. A statement said: 'Mr Robertson and Mrs Clooney were first asked to provide legal advice to the Greek government on this matter in 2011.

'They will be holding a series of meetings with government officials during their stay, including the Prime Minister, Mr Antonis Samaras, and the Minister of Culture, Mr Konstantinos Tasoulas.’

Wearing a smart cropped white jacket, taupe trousers and the widest smile, Amal looked confident as she greeted the waiting press and headed on in to the government building to do her thing.

On day two of her three-day visit, Amal Clooney attended a meeting with Greek Culture Minister Kostas Tasoulas and headed to lunch with her team - all under the watchful gaze of the media, the scrutiny of which she is handling with aplomb, by the way.

Speaking to the Guardian, Amal said: 'In my view returning the Parthenon Marbles to Greece is the just thing to do.

'I hope that an amicable solution to this issue can be found, given the longstanding friendship between Greece and the UK.'
