Hands up if you owned a Mulberry bag. Or, better yet, a Mulberry bag, shoes, dress, and sunglasses. If you didn't invest during the British brand's 2000s–2010s heyday, the fashion industry has collectively predicted its revival is afoot—primarily because this morning brought the news that Christopher Kane has joined the label as Creative Director. An exciting day for British fashion, to say the least.

For many years now, we've heard reports of the brand's not-so-flourishing financial situation. Since Emma Hill—the woman credited in shaping Mulberry's success—departure in 2013, growth started to slow. Kane's appointment, then, has been met with unanimous enthusiasm. Having helmed his own namesake label and served as Creative Director of Versus Versace in 2009, his fun, tongue-in-cheek aesthetic is expected to attract a new generation of consumers while pulling back those who loved the brand during the Y2K era.

We don't have too long to wait to see how he plans to shape the 55-year-old label, either. His debut collection will be shown during London Fashion Week this September, landing on shelves in February next year. And we're expecting plenty of support from its famous fanbase—Alexa Chung, Kate Middleton, and Fearne Cotton included. Scroll below for some historic Mulberry moments. More joy, indeed.

No matter whether you have one or ten Christmas parties in the diary, working out what to wear is often equal parts excitement and trepidation. So we naturally look to the women whose style we trust most for inspiration—and after last night, Alexa Chung is firmly leading the pack.

The event? The Reformation x Pixie Geldof Christmas cocktail party. The guest list? Jack Guinness, Amelia Windsor, Maddi Waterhouse—and the OG British cool girl Alexa, of course. The outfit? A vintage-feeling silk nightdress (Reformation, naturally) that has already shot to the top of every fashion fan’s wish list, styled with a green knit casually tied at the waist and a wool coat layered on top.

It was equal parts cool and classic, and made up of wardrobe classics most people already own—which is exactly why it has caught the attention of so many fashion devotees, myself included.

Chung often leans into a more vintage-inspired aesthetic, so this kind of lace-trim dress fits seamlessly into her existing wardrobe. And it’s precisely this that makes the look feel both aspirational and real: a reminder that the pieces we already own and genuinely wear (not the ones squashed at the back of the rail) are often the ones that work hardest for us.

Plus, the simple addition of a tailored coat and a cashmere knit shows how a silky summer slip can be reimagined for winter—suddenly cosy enough to wear year-round. The contrast of colour and texture is what makes the outfit especially striking, so keep this in mind when shopping your own wardrobe.

I almost didn't write this story, because I'm selfish and want Alexa Chung's wardrobe all to myself—but in the end, public interest (and my conscience) won.

The vintage fashion enthusiast has teamed up with Vinted to sell some of her beloved designer pieces, with all proceeds going to Endometriosis UK.

You'll be able to shop them exclusively on the second-hand marketplace platform on 4th May 2025, so set your alarms now to avoid disappointment later.

Some of the treasures to look out for include a gold Prada Cleo bag, pink Gucci shoulder bag and black patent Saint Laurent flats— all pictured below—as well as a Miu Miu bralette and silver trainers by Dries Van Noten.

There will also be clothing, bags, sunglasses, and shoes from other major designers like Miu Miu, JW Anderson, Khaite, Magda Butrym and Galvan London.

On parting with her beloved items, Alexa says: "The Dries Van Noten silver trainers are very hard to say goodbye to, as are the Saint Laurent patent black flats, which go with so many different things. I’m also selling a pink Gucci bag, which I already slightly regret. But I am doing the clear out with Vinted because my style is evolving. These items carry so many memories and we had great times together but now it is time to kiss them goodbye and the idea that they can live on in someone else’s wardrobe and be new again to them is very appealing.”

The presenter and entrepreneur has long been an advocate of vintage stores, often picking up pieces that are at least 25 years old.

“The idea that you can repurpose and bring a new attitude to something that was made for another time and another context, I find the concept of trends coming back around and evolving each time weirdly comforting amidst the current chaos," said Chung. "And it’s so nice to wear something unique that nobody else can buy, unless they’re treasure hunters like you.”

At last night’s EE BAFTA after-parties, lingerie was the winning look.

You might’ve thought that after Bianca Censori’s very literal take on the naked dress trend, red-carpet fashion would take a more subdued turn. You would be wrong.

Once reserved for the confines of the bedroom, underwear as outerwear has established itself as not only a trend but a wholly appropriate outfit with corsets, bralettes, and dainty slips being styled as standalone pieces. Alexa Chung, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Marie Claire UK cover star Zoe Saldana challenged the conventional rules of dress with very different takes on lingerie.

In the case of the eternally cool, Alexa Chung, this looked like frothy layers of lace and powder blue chiffon (a nod to co-host Tiffany’s, perhaps). The babydoll outfit hit just the right note of Victoriana, surprisingly lending what was essentially underwear, a more chaste finish. Glossy waves and Perspex Cinderella-like stilettos completed the look.

By contrast, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took a vampier approach in a black leather body and feathery stole, while Bel Powley struck a retro note by layering her scarlet slip over a white vest with purple tights and satin ballet pumps.

Over at the Netflix BAFTA after-party at The Twenty Two in Mayfair, Zoe Saldana, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, played with a classic lingerie formula: layering an oversized blazer atop an inky blue satin slip. The result was a play on contrasts: unexpected, but elegant, polished yet provocative. On the runway, we’ve seen this juxtaposition play out with lace skirts and camisoles layered with chunky knits to play with softness and structure.

Alexa Chung is reportedly engaged to her partner Tom Sturridge!

The Sun was the first to report that the couple had secretly put a ring on it, and that they're planning a lovely summer wedding in the coming weeks.

"Alexa has confirmed to her friends that she is indeed engaged to Tom and she is over the moon," an anonymous source told the publication.

"She is in a great place and seems completely head over heels for him. They’re a great match.

"They have been hard at work planning a wedding with all of their close pals there.

"It won’t be a massive over-the-top affair but a smaller, classier and cooler bash."

Alexa and Tom — an actor known for the likes of The Sandman and The Boat That Rocked — first went public with their sweet romance in July 2022 while kissing at Wimbledon, as reported by People.

They've sparked engagement rumours in the past, as Alexa was photographed out and about last summer with a ring on her wedding finger.

Now, though, it sounds like we have confirmation that a wedding truly is happening (though of course we should still wait for one of the lovebirds to confirm it directly).

Alexa Chung famously dated Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner for four years (we all remember *those* extra fashionable Glastonbury photos), and has also been linked to photographer David Titlow, actor Alexander Skarsgard, and chocolate heir Orson Fry, per The Sun.

Tom's romantic history is equally glamorous, as he was previously in a long-term relationship with actress Sienna Miller, with whom he shares daughter Marlowe, 11. The pair were together 2011 and 2015, according to Us Weekly. Tom has also been linked to Maya Hawke (the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman), Abigail Breslin, and Camilla Belle, among others.

Last year’s obsession with the co-ord short set has escalated into an even slicker type of power dressing, as everyone from Alexa Chung to Victoria Beckham is taking on tuxedo dressing for summer.

But you can forget the throwback silhouette of the 80s, the power suit 2.0 is sharper, cleaner and comes in bolder, brighter fabrications than its stuffy predecessors.

On both the SS16 and AW16 runways (yep, the trend is carrying through to autumn, too, folks) designers from Roberto Cavalli to Givenchy gave us dozens of options to stride into our next soiree in – from embellished, to velvet, to full-on floral incarnations.

Georgia May-Jagger’s fuchsia Gucci number is cooler than any summer party dress we’ve seen, while Alexa’s worked not one, but two different statement suits in the last few weeks alone. The brave (read Olivia Palermo and Kristin Stewart) are going white hot, committing themselves to not spill anything down their minimalistic looks, while others, like Charlize Theron are playing the androgyny card in classic mannish tuxedos.

The trend also naturally calls for one of our favourite ever free styling tricks, shoulder robe-ing and, as Vanessa Paradis proves in the gallery above, it looks hotter than ever when worked with matching trousers.

The indisputable queen of the power suit, however is queen Bey herself. Beyonce teams her Givenchy tux with mega heels and an oversized hat for her Formation-fashion take on the trend.

Model, TV presenter and all-round style queen, Alexa Chung has announced that she is launching her own namesake fashion brand.

Named as the creative director of the new ‘ALEXACHUNG’ label, Alexa is promising to launch her new ready-to-wear line in May 2017. The collection will include daywear, eveningwear, shoes, jewellery and denim, all designed by the hand of Chung. So basically she’s about to give us a wardrobe’s-worth of dreamy style solutions, then?

Of course, Alexa’s dipped her toe into the design world a few times before, collaborating with the likes of Marks and Spencer, Madewell, Supergra and AG Jeans on exclusive capsule collections. But this new venture will be all her and she’s already got some major stockists (think Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette and Matchesfashion.com) on board to back her up.

'Surprise! I’m starting my own fashion label,' Alexa said in an official statement also naming Haider Ackermann's former head of atelier, Edwin Bondson, as her new managing director. 'After many seasons of inspiring and eye opening collaborations with some of my favourite brands, I have decided that now is the perfect time to go it alone and establish my very own fashion line.'

'I have been fortunate enough to have found a wonderful team from various corners of the fashion industry and beyond to help realise my vision and make this lifelong dream a reality. We hope to bring you wearable, cool clothing you can live in and love in, whilst exploring the sartorial relationship between masculinity and femininity, something that has been a cornerstone of my personal style since I was old enough to dress myself.'

Already a force to be reckoned with in fashion, beauty and tech worlds (she recently launched community fashion app Villoid), the announcement of this next move is already causing critics to draw comparisons between Alexa and Victoria Beckham, or the Olsen twins, who all successfully crossed that line from ‘celebrity with a fashion line’ to fully fledged designer.

'I would like to thank everyone who has encouraged and supported me on the journey thus far.' Alexa added. 'With this first collection, I aim not only to delight your eyeballs but to furnish your wardrobe with all of your soon-to-be favourite pieces.'

As everything she touches turns to pure fashion gold, we think it's safe to tip this one as a hit before we've even seen it.

Christian Dior has appointed its new design head.

Fashion's rumour mill has been in overdrive for weeks, but now Christian Dior has finally, finally announced its new design head. The chosen one? Maria Grazia Chiuri, one of Valentino’s two creative directors. Here’s what you need to know… She’s jumping ship from Valentino Dior has been without a creative director since Raf Simons left in October, and Maria's appointment comes after weeks of speculation. In appointing Maria, Dior is breaking up one of the industry’s most formidable design duos, as for almost 30 years, Maria has worked alongside fellow Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli. At Valentino since 1999, and co-creative directors since 2008, the pair started out in the accessories department at Fendi together in 1989 after attending the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome. Dior is her first ever solo gig.

She knows a thing or two about reinventing brands Together with Pierpaolo, she’s been credited with revitalizing Valentino as a modern couture house, seeing sales quadruple during her tenure. The scale of operations at Dior is slightly larger, but Maria should be pretty equipped to handle the six womenswear collections that the brand produces each year.

She is Dior’s first ever female boss In Dior’s 70 year history it’s never had a female leader. Maria will be the first, bringing another strong (needed) female voice to the top of the Parisian fashion game.

She knows an IT accessory when she sees one That Fendi accessories history we mentioned? We forgot to add that Maria was on the team of designers who invented one of the most iconic and successful handbags of all time, the Fendi Baguette. At Valentino, she was responsible for our obsession with all things Rockstud. The studded bags and shoes she designed were spotted on everyone from Alexa Chung to Olivia Palermo and caused a 36% boost in the brand’s sales.

She’s good with a red carpet dream dress Keira Knightley, Katy Perry, SJP, Kirsten Dunst, Lorde… the A-list fans of Maria’s work at Valentino are endless. Launched way back in 2013, you may have initially dismissed Snapchat as just-another-way-to-send-selfies, but it's so much more than that. If you're yet to be initiated, we've got you covered.

WHAT IS IT? It's an app. A super private way to send photos. Sure, you can send a picture (or video) to everybody who asks to follow you, but you can also just send one to your three closest mates. And if anybody tries to screengrab it, you'll get a notification to tell you - otherwise it's just a temporary image floating around cyberspace.

It's only really been making waves in the social media sphere for the last year or so, when A-listers realised that it could be a means of communicating with their fans - without the relentless abuse that comes with your very own Twitter account. Oh, and the filters are way more flattering than anything you'll ever find on Instagram.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT? Well, it's easier than Whatsapp, because you can send one picture to hundreds of thousands of people in one go - and you don't have to edit it in a different programme if you want to caption it, which makes it super easy. Plus, there's a front-facing camera flash, even if your smartphone doesn't come with one built in. But making yourself look pretty in the night time is one thing - the main thing that makes Snapchat more relevant than ever is the way in which it's transforming the news industry.

HOLD ON, SELFIES AND NEWS? Yep, selfies and news. Bloggers and entertainment brands such as MTV and HBO's GIRLS are already on Snapchat, and send out video bulletins and news updates whenever a relevant story breaks. You'll get a little notification, and then you can watch it whenever you're free that day - or the next day, or the next.

This makes it way more useful than Twitter, where you risk following 2,000 people and never seeing any of the most important messages, because everybody is just shouting into a great big technological abyss.

GOT IT. SO WHO SHOULD I FOLLOW? Who shouldn't you follow, more like. Finally, celebrities over the age of 14 are joining Snapchat on an almost daily basis. From Madonna (always one to get down with the kids) to Blake Lively, Alexa Chung and Jennifer Lopez, the average age of the Snapchatter is gradually creeping up - and it's becoming all the more interesting as a result.

Sure, this probably means that something cooler is being used by the aforementioned 14 year olds, but we're too busy dying our grey hairs and applying our 17th layer of anti-ageing cream to care about that.

Glastonbury is over for another year and, as promised, the festival delivered bigger performances, better fashion statements and a whole lot more mud than ever before.

The UK’s most iconic festival always throws up an unexpected trend or two (remember 2014’s spray-on leotard craze?) but this year’s IT item was perhaps even more obscure than that, as Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Clara Paget and co. declared the neon orange, high vis jacket to be this festival season’s must have.

But the model clique didn’t just steal these from a local building site. No, no. Theirs were custom made and monogrammed by designer Anya Hindmarch, who first featured the coats in her highway-themed AW15 show at London Fashion Week. It’s a bright ‘n bold style choice, yes, but at least they couldn’t lose each other in the crowds.

Elsewhere, others like Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne took a more traditional approach to festival dressing, working colourful knits, Coach saddle bags and plenty of ripped denim between them.

On stage, the biggest trend was sparkle as Adele, Jess Glynn, Ellie Goulding and more opted for enormous sequins, embellishment blitzed capes and foil fabric suits.

The most-spotted accessory was as always, however, Hunter Original’s iconic wellies. The ultimate festival footwear brand outdid itself as Lottie Moss, Natalie Dormer and more tried desperately not to wallow in the mud.

The fashion congregation gathered at London’s Westminster Abbey this afternoon to worship at the alter of Gucci. In just three seasons at the helm of the iconic Italian fashion house, designer Alessandro Michele has achieved a god-like status, reawakening the label for the Snapchat-generation and creating some of the most talked about, kooky-cool collections the industry has seen in years.

That said, there was some controversy over the choice of venue for this afternoon’s resort 2017 presentation – a fashion show has never been held at Westminster Abbey and there was plenty of opposition from some religious figureheads. Michele dismissed the furore because, he says, history and culture are ‘what is really cool.’ And he’s right, obviously.

The designer of the moment tapped everything that’s rich about Brit culture for inspiration – think punks, Victoriana and posh school systems – but of course gave it his signature Gucci geek spin.

Here’s what everyone is talking about post-show…

The venue was iconic The show took over three 13th-century cloisters at the Abbey, lining the walkways with pews and benches, and seating each guest on an emerald velvet cushion embroidered with key Gucci emblems like snakes, insects, or, well, cross-stitched kittens. The Schola Cantorum Oxford choir sang Scarborough Fair, echoing through the venue.

Two iconic Brit models returned to the runway Erin O’Connor and Jacquetta Wheeler returned to the catwalk for what was, let’s face it, a once in a lifetime strut through the London venue.

Heritage Brit fash trends inspired the collection Gucci’s signature sugar-hit colour palettes put a punchy spin on heritage checks and punky tartans. Michele borrowed ruffles from the Victorians, blooms from country gardens and straw boaters from our public school boys in the ultimate mash up of our eccentric dress traditions. Stand-out looks? The draped tartan gown with a full-on leopard embroidered across the bust and the Union Jack flag sweatshirt, teamed with a so Queen Liz headscarf.”

Soko took over Gucci’s Snapchat As the actress and singer Soko snapped selfies across the brand’s social channels, stars from Belle Powley to Alexa Chung took to the front row.

Alexa Chung has added a major new project to her already bulging fashion CV – she’s collaborating with British institution Marks & Spencer.

Delving into the high street icon’s vast design archives, Alexa has cherry-picked her favourite styles from the past to redevelop with team M&S - and we all know how good that eye for vintage is, don’t we? 

The 31 piece line, called Archive by Alexa, is due to drop into stores any day now and we've got the full collection right here. Offering chic, mix-and-match knits, classic tea and babydoll dresses, on-trend ruffle blouses and shirts as well as retro baby pink bikini, it's a everything it promised and more - silhouettes in modern fabrics and colour palettes. 

A sneak preview of the line was first released as Alexa kicked off London Fashion Week with a party to celebrate the line. We are just as KEEN on this green mac, modelled by Alexa at the party as it is in real life. And not mention the 6-60s inspired paisley print mini dress from the lookbook above.

‘There was something very touching about looking back through the British fashion and social history for which M&S is synonymous.’

The project is set to be the first of many new collaborations for Marks & Spencer, who are announcing this is as the first of their new ‘M&S &’ series. Over the next few months even more mega partnerships are set to be announced with big designers and fashion personalities.

‘It was a hugely insightful experience allowing Alexa full access to our Company Archive,’ says Steve Rowe, Executive Director of General Merchandise at Marks & Spencer.

‘Marks & Spencer’s history is vast and quality design has always been paramount; therefore using our expertise and classic designs and Alexa’s unique eye and approach to style, our collaboration was born. A new womenswear collection, curated by Alexa, with heritage firmly at its heart.’

The Burberry show is always one of London Fashion Week’s hottest tickets, producing consistently covetable collections and attracting the starriest front row crowd we’ll see all season.

And today’s AW16 extravaganza was no exception, as models from Edie Campbell to Immy Waterhouse worked high-shine daywear on the runway, while Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alexa Chung and more watched on from the front row.

But this season, talk was as much about designer Christopher Bailey’s decision to re-think the way Burberry does fashion week, as it was about the clothes. From September, the brand will operate on a season-less, 'see-now, buy-now' strategy, allowing us all to buy direct from the catwalk. ‘Burberry always lead the way, whether it’s in the fashion, tech or the music worlds,’ Suki Waterhouse, one of the brand’s hottest groupies, told us before the show. ‘Whatever they do, it’s a sign of the times.’

Backstage, Christopher talked us through the collection and explained exactly how the new format would work.

Christopher’s Moodboard Featured A Mash-Up Of References… ‘It was a patchwork of everything I love,’ he says. ‘Musicians that I love, the Mitford sisters, the military – it was glam rock with wellies from the country – a total mix. Even the fabrics were a mix - the metallics were created with lame, lurex and real metal woven together with silk. It’s not a themed show, it’s just lots of things I like.’

He Didn’t Mean To Cause Any Of Those ‘Is This The End Of Fashion Week’ Headlines… ‘It wasn’t supposed to cause a cascade effect with other designers, we’re just doing the things that feel right for us and what feels right for the customers and the audiences that we speak to. We were early to digital and I feel like when we invited this public audience in, we weren’t right to tell them to conform to the industry’s timings, just because this is a format that we’d created as an industry. It wasn’t supposed to be some huge shift because we’ve been evolving towards this – it’s just a rebalancing. We are a fashion industry that is supposed to embrace change and our format should be able to evolve too. It was never meant to be radical though!' 

So What You See Here Is AW16 Part One… ‘You look at this as a collection of clothes that will be delivered into stores in both very hot climates and very cold climates. So you’ve got heavy cashmere coats beside very light dresses. And this collection will go into stores in June and July, but some pieces will flow in sooner, and then in September we’ll show a mixture of the two seasons again. So there will be a continuation of the themes from this collection into the next one.’

Charlotte Olympia stages her first ever London Fashion Week show...

Alexa Chung, Alice Dellal, Daisy Lowe… all of Charlotte Olympia Dellal’s friends and family made their way to Camden’s Roundhouse tonight, to support the accessories designer at her namesake label’s first ever London Fashion Week show.

Here’s what you need to know… There Were 33 Pairs Of Hot Heels Plus bags, jewellery, sunglasses and hats produced in collaboration with Piers Atkinson. Called The Girl Who Fell To Earth, Charlotte’s collection was inspired by science fiction films from the 1940s, evidenced in the retro movie poster motifs printed onto clutch bags, and the intergalactic mineral clusters embellishing Perspex heels.

All The Brit IT Girls Sat On The Front Row Alexa, Daisy, Laura Bailey… All of London’s most stylish were out tonight to cheer on one of their own. Charlotte’s mum, Andrea Dellal was there, too, to show them all how it’s done.

Alice Dellal Closed The Show Well you would for your sister, wouldn’t you? Joining her in the first top model line-up of London Fashion Week was Charlotte Wiggins, Matilda Lowther and Portia Freeman, who hasn’t walked a runway show in years but couldn’t resist doing a favour for her friend.

Vintage Hair, We So Do Care Sam McKnight translated the film noir and 1970s references to turn the models’ hair into soft, diffused takes on the classic femme fatale theme. Using Batiste and Cloud 9 products, hair was tonged and teased into short, soft waves or longer versions of 40s curls. “We wanted to keep it fresh and slightly edgy,” said Eamonn Hughes, Creative Director of the Sam McKnight team. “It’s a look that can easily be translated to today if we introduce texture.”

The Make-Up Was Old Hollywood With A Twist “Hollywood heroines and The Beautiful People meet on this face,” said Val Garland of the make-up looks she’d designed using MAC. Most the make-up attention landed on the lips, which were coated in lashings of deep, bloody reds or smatterings of glitter, while eyes were shaded, two-toned affairs either relying on a flick or deep socket line to pop.

The Nails Were A Classic Glam Statement “These nails are so very Charlotte Olympia - her signature is the blazing red with a blank half moon, and I took that and ran with it,” said Marion Newman of the nails. Variation came in the form of metallic takes on Charlotte’s favourite look, with Newman using MAC’s Fabulous Fete in place of the red. Oh and FYI, if you’ve fallen for the red, you’re in luck - MAC are releasing it soon as part of their Charlotte Olympia collection. You heard it here first.

Every celebrity in Hollywood attended the Saint Laurent fashion show last night as designer Hedi Slimane was the first designer to present his vision for autumn, officially kicking off fashion month.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Alexa Chung, Jessica Alba, Courtney Love, Dakota Fanning and many, many more A-listers rocked up (literally) for the occasion, with most wearing pieces from the current Saint Laurent collection. See all the pictures in the gallery above.

Here’s what you need to know…

1. The Collection Was A Rockstar’s Dream Wardrobe As ever, Hedi Slimane took his inspiration from California’s alt rock music scene – a little bit grunge and a little bit Seventies, with a whole lot of skinny neck ties, leather jackets and wide suede belts. Models were achingly cool wearing Slimane’s signature attitude, their dishevelled style more glammed-up than usual with glitter-blitzed eyelids completing the beauty look. The show gives us a taster of what to expect from the brand’s Paris Fashion Week show on 7th March and was a mix of the men’s AW16 and women’s pre-AW16 collections.

2. The Front Row Raised The Bar For Fashion Month Demi Moore! Miranda Kerr! Rosie Huntington-Whiteley! The A-listers just kept on coming on the red carpet at LA’s Palladium theatre, forming the starriest front row we think we’ve ever seen. Lady Gaga mingled with Sylvester Stallone, Joan Jett met Justin Bieber… the potential collaborations spawned on the night are endlessly entertaining.

3. Saint Laurent Face Dylan Lee Was There Pamela Anderson’s son and designer Hedi Slimane’s latest Cali rock muse, Dylan Lee, attended with his mum and older brother, Blue Steel Brandon. Now that’s what we call a family portrait.

4. After the show, It Was The After Party… There were performances from everyone from Joan Jett to Beck, officially confirming that Hedi Slimane throws the coolest parties in the business. How can he possibly top this for Paris Fashion Week? We can't wait to find out...

2015 has been a beautiful, beautiful year for our favourite celebrities, with more new hair and makeup trends to try than ever before.

From The Hun to strobing, the year's crazes arrived thick and fast and the best celebrity beauty moments came from those with the courage to experiment.

From Kendall Jenner to Lupita Nyong'o, the stars dared to be different, working new makeup colours and hair lengths aplenty. Even the Duchess of Cambridge upgraded her trusty blowdry with new bangs.

Celebrity hair stylist George Northwood helped both Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alexa Chung to chop and change their hair, while Kylie Jenner worked so many different dye jobs that we've dedicated an entire 'Kylie Jenner Hair' gallery to her 2015 evolution.

So these are the star beauty looks we loved, pressed 'Like' for, and totally wanted to be our own in 2015.

First up, we hark back to the MET Ball in May (feels like ages ago in Insta years doesn't it?) where Beyoncé arrived on the red carpet wearing this hyper-high ponytail, and little else. The Hollywood fable goes that Queen Bey left the house with her hair in ringlets, then freaked out en route to the gala and asked her hairstylist Neal Farinah to whip up something new on the way. The result, we think, is the kind of statement pony that only Sasha Fierce herself could pull off.

A high ponytail will lift all of your features upwards.

The Duchess Of Cambridge

Duchess Kate caused an even bigger media stir than usual in September, when she returned to her royal duties after giving birth to Princess Charlotte and debuted a perfectly fluffy new fringe.

Kim Kardashian had a blonde moment at Paris Fashion Week in March, covering her slicked back locks with a bobble hat until she was ready to unveil them on the Givenchy front row. Sadly, the pure platinum was gone within a week, but the Insta reaction was so strong that we had to include it in our top 20.

Why Hello, beautiful. Adele is back and so is her perfect graphic black liner - a late entry to this year's beauty round-up, but one that's causing a storm of copycats on Instagram. Trying this look at home yourself? May the winged eyeliner gods be forever in your favour...

Keeping up with Kendall's beauty regime has been extra hard this year. She's been a style chameleon on the catwalk, has experimented with a fringe on the red carpet and was even declared queen of the classic pout when she launched her own lipstick line for Estee Lauder in June. We have such a beauty crush.

When hair stylist George Northwood lopped Rosie's long locks off back in February, he declared her choppy new cut to be 'the supermodel bob'. We duly printed out the pictures and ran to our nearest salon, of course.

After taking the red carpet circuit by storm last year, Lupita continued to take brilliant beauty risks in 2015, playing with everything from coloured lips to metallic eyeshadows. It was hard to pick a winner from our shortlist of favourites, but we're declaring Lupita's berry lip colour and popping powder shadow at the Golden Globe Awards in January to be the actress's purple reign.

Lady Gaga

Stop the beauty press. Lady Gaga went (almost) all demure on us this year, nodding to classic screen sirens with her stunning blonde curls and scarlet pouts. That said, she still teamed her make-under with everything from sequin ballgowns to haute rubber gloves - she is Gaga after all. We love her look from the National Arts Awards back in October.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner has worked more beauty looks than any other star this year, more than earning her place in our top 20 round-up. From mint to platinum, she's tried a different dye job or cut every other week confirming her status as queen of the beauty transformation.

Jillian Hervey of LionBabe

Holy hair. Another new entry on our beauty radar this year was Jillian Hervey, one half of pop duo LionBabe. Guess what we love about her look? She throws that mane around on stage like nobody's watching (we love this picture from her New York concert in July) and she's a big fan of retro eye make up, too.

And this year's award for best use of hair accessories goes to... Jewel-encrusted head pieces became Kiera's go-to on the red carpet circuit back in February, trialing everything from crystal Chanel clips to this Valentino band at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

With the look of a classic French IT girl, 16 year-old Lily Rose Depp the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis) is following in her mother's modeling footsteps, this year being named as the new face of Chanel. Say hello to your future beauty icon.

Rita's gone all glam and glossy on us this year, looking every bit the part in her new job on the X Factor judging panel. But don't worry, she's not lost her edge. We loved this messy plait up-do and dark eye combo at the British Fashion Awards in November.

Alexa turned to George Northwood back in September to chop a couple more inches off of her soft tousled bob. Debuting her new look on the front row at London Fashion Week she inspired even more fans to aim higher - just below the ears to be precise.

This year's prize for best holiday skin? It's got to go to Jennifer on her first appearance after her Bora Bora honeymoon with Justin Theroux back in August. It really was all about that glow.

Kendall Jenner, Alexa Chung and dozens more stars joined Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing on the catwalk in New York last night, to celebrate the launch of the much anticipated Balmain x H&M collection.

Kendall was joined by Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Gigi Hadid and all the usual supermodel suspects on the glossy H&M runway, working full looks from the new high street line (which launches on 5th November) and cementing Olivier’s status as one of the most popular people in fashion. Alexa, Ellie Goulding and Kylie Jenner were amongst the stars watching on from the front row, all wearing their favourite pieces from the new collection, but of course.

And then to top it all off, The Backstreet Boys performed. Because, well, why not? Throwing the fashion pack right the way back to the 90s, they performed hits Larger Than Life and I Want It That Way, as the crowd broke into a frenzy of fish-face pouting and selfie taking – exactly what Insta-king Olivier would have wanted.

Balmain is now a fully-fledged pop culture phenomenon and last night’s do confirmed the label’s global appeal – the H&M collection is bound to be an instant sell-out.

And one thing’s for sure, Olivier Rousteing sure knows how to throw a party…

Here’s all the spring 2016 fashion goodness you need to know about…

The Graphic Appliques How fresh does this feel?! From the beautifully outlined floral dresses, to the sculpted organzas in neon colour combos, to the silk jacquard suits punctuated with vivid embroideries, every idea was executed thoroughly and with the richest of detailing. Last season’s pussy bows and ruffle necklines returned as sequinned, cartoonish effects - even the house’s sell-out IT bag, the Dionysus, is back with a trompe l’oeil twist. Alessandro Michele has firmly made his mark.

The Commitment To The Beret The best thing a new designer can ever do when they take the helm of an iconic house is establish their signature aesthetic. The new Mr Gucci’s is the geek – think kooky cool styling, haute tortoiseshell glasses and a new campaign to bring the beret back. Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski are already on board, so, really, there’s no question that it’s a winning movement.

The Incredible Set Stretched along an old train platform, Alessandro Michele laid down a gorgeous Gucci carpet and popped up dozens of antique room dividers, peppered with prints from the collection for his quietly decadent set.

The Front Row Fans Dakota Johnson, Sofia Coppola and Chloe Moretz are all known fans of the new Gucci era, but at today’s show even more stars turned out to support. Alexa Chung and Salma Hayek were spotted on the front row - two likely new recruits for the geek chic gang.

SS16 is on the horizon and the fash pack could literally feel the sand between their toes at the House Of Holland show this evening, as Henry shipped tons of actual sand into his London Fashion Week venue.

Alexa Chung (sporting a brand new crop), Poppy Delevingne, Daisy Lowe and Nick Grimshaw turned out to support their friend, who showed his neo-safari collection in a deserted Camden amphitheatre.

Here, the designer himself talks us through what happened... The Collection Borrowed Prints From A Tacky Vegas Hotel Room But made them gorgeous, obviously. ‘The film that inspired me was Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, and also Hunter S. Thompson and the original novel itself,' says Henry. 'It’s about this late 60s desert road trip to Vegas. There are lots of trippy acidic references in the prints and all the textiles like the jacquards are quite heavily influenced by the interiors you see in the film – mostly tacky psychedelic hotel rooms.’

Alexa (Almost) Walked Off With The Lot ‘10 VIPs were given what were essentially credit card rings, loaded with £500 to spend and then they were just able to walk right up and pick their favourite things and shop right there. Alexa Chung has launched a new fashion app, Villoid, designed to be ‘your very own endless dressing up box’.

Adding ‘tech entrepreneur’ to her already jam-packed CV (she’s a presenter, author and denim designer, don’t ya know?), Alexa announced the news on Instagram overnight, sharing pictures of just what exactly her new app does.

Described as a ‘new destination for style lovers who want to play, share, buy and love’ users can build shoppable boards, sticking their style inspirations alongside their get-the-look, or wishlist products. Here’s one Alexa made earlier…

You can also follow key fashion brands and style influencers, as well as click to buy items directly from affiliates as you browse and share.

‘I am pleased and proud to announce that the secret app I have been working on for months is now available to download today!’ Alexa wrote on Insta.

‘It's called VILLOID (more on that later) and I would love you to play with it and let me know what you think.’

Signing off her message as ‘Alexa Zuckerberg-Chung’, Alexa is named as a ‘co-founder and secret mastermind’ of the app, which does actually work in conjunction with your Facebook account.

While the real Mark Zuckerberg probably doesn’t need to worry just yet, the new concept could well make a lot of money for Alexa if it reaches the leagues of other celebrity apps like Kim Kardashian Hollywood, which is expected to bring in $85million for the reality star this year.

1. Florence Welch But of course Flo headlined Glastonbury in the silver foil suit of dreams. Thought to be a custom-made Chanel number based on Karl Lagerfeld’s androgynous-chic SS15 show, it really doesn’t get any better than this when it comes to stage get-up.

2. Kim Kardashian Oh she did not disappoint. Only Kim K could do bodycon, a sheer silk trench and six inch gladiator heels at a muddy festival. She later gave in (as you would) and was spotted working a pair of classic black hunters with that jersey confection; ‘Perfect shoes for Glastonbury! LOL’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘Have my wellies in the car don't worry.’

3. Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner CaKe were out in force this weekend, joining fellow supermodels Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid on stage at Taylor Swift’s Hyde Park performance, before jumping in a helicopter down to Somerset to catch Kanye’s headline at Glasto. The duo are now so in-tune, they’ve got T-shirts.

4. Suki Waterhouse Oh sweet colourful bird. Suki wins our award for best use of festival fringing with this rainbow Tim Ryan jacket.

5. FKA Twigs Ms Twigs made her Glastonbury debut in suitably kooky-cool attire. An embroidered chiffon kimono, bandage slippers and a solid gold garter? We'd rule nothing out when it comes to this artist's trend-starting potential – she’s already made extreme bling a catwalk hit.

6. Alexa Chung Always ahead of the pack, Alexa’s looking nodding to AW15’s lurex fabric trend, working this metallic minidress with her staple Hunters.

7. Florence Welch (Again) We’re sorry to duplicate, but Flo really owned it this year. A quick scan of the Glasto audience proved that SS15’s Seventies trend was ripe for the picking when it came to festival style – just think of all that boho potential! But Florence’s off-stage garb was our favourite interpretation of all.

8. The Dalai Lama The signature draping, the asymmetry, the on-trend red hue. Pictured here on stage with another inimitable style icon, Patti Smith, our 14th Dalai Lama is a man who certainly knows how to make a festival fashion statement.

The British beauty is the face of the French brand's latest campaign.

Alex Chung hosted a fancy dinner with Longchamp in New York last night.

The model and TV presenter invited a number of VIP guests along to the gathering including stylist Cleo Wade and sophisticated socialite Atlanta De Cadenet.

True to form, Alexa - who has now been working with Longchamp for four seasons - chose a suitably stylish ensemble for the decadent occasion.

She stepped out wearing a short shimmery dress that was cut with a loose fit and had a thigh-skimming hemline. The baggy design also featured black ribbons that she tied into a halterneck.

Alexa complemented her sassy mini - and added a couple of inches to her already long and lean legs - with a pair of towering pointed snakeskin heels.

She carted her essentials about in a deep purple clutch with a shiny gold clasp, giving us a major case of bag envy.

Naturally, Alexa totally won us over with her choice of hairstyle too. The British style icon teased her impossibly glossy and choppy short layers into tousled waves.

Before heading to the star-studded get together, Alexa shared a close-up shot of her summery ombré 'do on Instagram, saying: '1970 by Diego hair wiz make up by @kristingallegos.'

The event comes after Alexa was signed up to promote the luxury brand's bold and bright SS15 campaign - something she was clearly thrilled about.

'I love bags, I love France, I love Longchamp,' she said earlier this year when speaking of the partnership.

In Longchamp's latest advert, the 31-year-old is seen strutting along confidently in a short coral dress. She accessorises her summery outfit with a number of different Le Pliage Héritage bags in shades including neon yellow, nude and electric blue.

The promo was shot in southern French city of Marseille.

She invented the push-up bra, made fashion more comfortable and accessible and pioneered modern marketing techniques. The founder of the Carven fashion house will be sorely missed.

Madame Carven, French couture legend and founder of the Carven fashion house has passed away.

The couturier died yesterday in Paris, aged 105.

Marie-Louise Carven-Grog, born Carmen de Tommaso and more widely known as Madame Carven, was a fashion innovator. Her work had a huge impact on the fashion world. 

The designer founded her fashion house in 1945 just before the Golden Age of Couture, working contemporaneously to fashion legends Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain and Hubert de Givenchy. She was one of a handful of female couturiers in the male-dominated industry in Paris at the time, alongside Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli.

The couturier, known to everyone as friendly and accommodating, rose to fame during the post-war period dressing French celebrities including Edith Piaf, Leslie Caron and Michèle Morgan. 

Carven began designing, she told Women’s Wear Daily, to dress smaller women (the designer herself came in at a teeny 5’1’’), saying: ‘I decided to make haute couture outfits in my size because I was too short to wear the creations of the top couturiers, who only ever showed their designs on towering girls.’

She was very youth-focused in her designs, keen to produce clothes for young women at a time when fashion prioritised the more mature customer.

‘I never did it for myself. I did it for the youngsters that came to see me, to teach them how to dress, to give them confidence in their own beauty – how to show themselves off through colours, styles, everything,’ the late designer said in 2009.

Carven’s designs were simple - constructed using clean lines and light fabrics such as cotton, lace, and most famously, pink gingham.

She prioritsed comfort in her clothing, designing easy-to-wear, pragmatic pieces (a rare move for a couturier at that time, many of whom favoured restrictive styles) and created activewear including ski suits and swimming costumes.

‘I wanted to retain my style - sober, practical and young, with a lot of sports garments,’ she once said. 

Credited with many fashion firsts, Carven patented the first push-up bra, she presented more bridal gowns than any other designers and she pushed for democratisation in fashion, designing ready-to-wear so that her clothes could be accessible to a wider group.

As a result of her innovations and democratic approach to dress, the City of Paris even commissioned the designer to dress female traffic wardens in 1977.

Not limiting herself to the catwalks, Carven also inspired costumed for film – most famously Edith Head’s costumes for Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window and Vertigo, and designing her own costumes for French thriller Les Diaboliques in 1955. 

Perhaps most notable, though, was Carven’s contribution to the role marketing plays in fashion. In 1950, to coincide with the French premiere of Gone With the Wind, Carven designed a series of dresses inspired by the picture and toured the country doing ‘pop-up’ fashion shows at cinemas.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the liberation of Paris in 1954, the couturier parachuted little samples of her perfume, Ma Griffe, all over the city.

The designer travelled the world with her creations, staging catwalk shows in Egypt, Thailand, Morocco, Cuba, Brazil and Singapore – each place inspiring her collections which soon expanded to include African motifs, Aztec pattern and raffia embroidery.

Carven was widely acknowledged for her work and named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1978, and made a Commander of the Legion of Honour in 2009.

She worked for almost 50 years, retiring in 1993.

The designer’s work – her signature simple pieces and wearable silhouettes – have continued to reap success. In 2009 Guillaume Henry became Creative Director and successfully developed the brand to fit with contemporary tastes, resulting in a cult celebrity following including the likes of Victoria Beckham and Alexa Chung. Today, Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud are at the helm.

Madame Carven’s approach to design continues to inspire fashion today, and her mentality is exactly what all designers should be keeping in mind when creating their collections:

‘Designers unfortunately think about making their mark on their design. I didn’t think of my designs like that. I thought about the young girls, the young women that I dressed, even my models, to show off their beauty to the maximum.’

She will be sorely missed.

Coachella officially kicked off this weekend, with everyone from Kendall Jenner to Kate Bosworth dashing to the desert in their best boho wares, to take in 2015's all-star musical line-up.

This is the first opportunity of the year for stars to show off their festival styling game, with many changing up to three times a day and taking as many selfies as possible in front of all those props and scenery (Instagram has never seen so many pouts in front of palm trees).

Anyone who's anyone is working it in a dreamy dress from Chloe?s SS15 collection (we see you, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Alexa Chung) while Coach?s colour-pop satchels, the Swagger and the Dakota, are the festival IT-bag of choice.

When it comes to fashion parties, Coachella's where it's at, with Moschino, Coach and more hosting private poolside lolz for Katy Perry, Ashley Greene and co.

Coachella is an ideal opportunity to test out a new festival hair trend, too - Jourdan Dunn'ss 'unicorn dust' dye job is sooo SS15 and we might just have a go at copying Kate Bosworth's centre parting plait for ourselves.

Brooklyn Beckham sported a new tattoo (don't worry Victoria, it's temporary) as he got on the Red Bulls with a big group of friends, while Kendall did matching denim cut-offs with little sister Kylie and Gigi Hadid as they watched friends like Tyler, The Creator perform.

One of the most photographed moments of the evening was when John Galliano took to the stage, which Suzy Menkes eloquently explained: ‘John Galliano presented an Outstanding Achievement award at the British Fashion Awards to his dear friend Anna Wintour, whom John said had supported him through good and bad times’

With the evening almost over, the dancing started…

From the London Coliseum it was onto Café Royal for Edward Enninful’s after-party where Rihanna made a quick outfit switch-up…

But it wasn’t all over for some guests. The British Fashion Awards is always one of our favourite dates on the fashion calendar. Guaranteed to attract an A-list crowd and our most admired style icons, it’s all about pulling out all the stops and donning stand-out catwalk looks. An evening where more is always more and impressing the crème de la crème of the British fashion industry and beyond, spotting the stars and their designer labels is all part of the fun of the night.

Here’s what the best dressed attendees, and winners, wore on the British Fashion Awards 2014 red carpet…

Victoria Beckham The designer, who has been her eponymous label’s best ambassador for many a season wore a look from her AW ‘14 collection to collect her award for Brand of the Year. In true Victoria style, she wore it better than the runway model, streamlining the oversized black sweater and black-and-white pleated skirt with pushed-up sleeves, a visible chain-link belt, and her signature pose.

Emma Watson The 2014 British Style Award winner worked her signature masculine-feminine vibe to perfection in a Misha Nonoo Spring 2015 white, wide-legged jumpsuit covered by an oversized long black tuxedo jacket. Effortlessly cool, we love.

Laura Bailey Simple yet bold in a shocking pink Emilia Wickstead dress, Laura Bailey’s look was one of our favourites of the night. The model gets extra marks for giving a masterclass in covering up on the red carpet.

Alexa Chung Continuing the trend for prim and proper red carpet dressing, Alexa Chung stunned in a collared Emilia Wickstead frock with subtle front split. But what really stole our hearts was Alexa’s Charlotte Olympia Chinese takeaway style box bag with intricate beadi embellishment. The perfect party bag, don’t you think?

Cara Delevingne The Model of the Year flew in from Austria especially or the evening and despite her packed schedule, managed to pull off two stand-out looks during the night. The first being a sequin Burberry gown with thigh-high split which was perfect for the red carpet ‘do. But it was her after-party sparkly Tom Ford cocktail dress which really won us over. And Kendall got top marks too for skewing the traditional dress formula in her Emilio Pucci jumpsuit.

Karlie Kloss Karlie Kloss dashed across town following her Victoria’s Secret show rehearsals and literally did her make-up in a cab. Not that you could tell. The supermodel looked flawless as she arrived at the British Fashion Awards and cut an ultra-glam profile in a metallic backless gown that cascaded down her statuesque frame. We die.

Olivia Palermo Olivia Palermo confirmed the trend for below-the-knee silhouettes in an Emilia Wickstead front-slit ball gown skirt from the British designers SS15 collection. Teamed with a sparkly black top, it’s her pointed courts and animal print clutch which added an understated, cool spin that only Olivia could pull off.

Rita Ora Anyone who dares to pull of this look gets our vote. The British singer arrived with Tom Ford in this bold look from his SS15 runway. Featuring an embellished black leather top, side cut-outs and sheer midriff paneling, the slit-to-there gown had all the rebel swagger we’d expect from Rita.

Rihanna Rihanna made a surprise appearance for close friend and collaborator Edward Enningul. The star wore a velvet over-sized Stella McCartney blazer - and not much else. Her diamond choker, tassled clutch and barely-there make-up made up for a unique look that ensured she stood out.

The Supers While the evening attracted a bevy of new and up-and-coming models and talent, no fashion awards would be complete with some much-need glamour brought in from the well-honed Supers Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. While Naomi wowed in a custom Alexander McQueen blue embroidered gown, Kate went uber short in a kimono dress also by McQueen.

Just in time for the festive season, the fascinating game of fashion musical chairs has commenced as Johnny Coca, the Head Design Director for leather goods and accessories at Celine has announced his departure from the Parisian label to take up the role of Creative Director at iconic handbag label, Mulberry.

But why is this so important? Well, Mulberry’s latest recruit means that a big shake-up in the clothing and handbag designs as well as the way we see the label through campaigns and celeb endorsements is set for a seriously big change.

Coca succeeds Emma Hill who departed the label nearly 18 months ago citing "disagreements with management over creative and operational strategy". Hill is widely credited for completely transforming Mulberry into the global brand it is today. No pressure there then, Johnny.

Coca won’t join the British company until July next year, but it’s a significant development for the label and its aesthetic. Mulberry, who counts Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne among its array of A-list postergirls has been without a creative director for nearly eighteen months.

As Mulberry's Creative Director, Johnny will be responsible for all of Mulberry's collections, reporting to Godfrey Davis, Chairman and CEO. Johnny Coca said of the appointment: "I very much look forward to joining Mulberry as their new Creative Director and to leading a new design direction at one of the very best British Brands."

So who exactly is Johnny Coca? And what does it mean for Mulberry? Here’s everything you need to know about the new Creative Director and what it could mean for the British institution…

Education Born in Seville, Coca has spent much of his career in Paris, having worked at Louis Vuitton before Céline. However, he already has links with London, with a tutoring role at Central St Martins. Johnny intends to ensure that Mulberry continues its tradition of encouraging new young talent as he helps to build the next generation at Mulberry.

Design Johnny is set to bring his signature brand of Parisian cool to the Somerset-based label. After moving to France, the designer studied art, architecture and design at the École des Beaux-Arts and École Boulle in Paris. His source of inspiration lies heavily in his passion for fashion and design, art and architecture, film and music which has long been visible on the Celine catwalks and is sure to dominate his direction at Mulberry.

Handbags Coca joins from Céline, where he has been responsible for some of the bestselling – and most copied – bags and shoes of the past decade. Welcome news for Mulberry's falling sales... Coca also helped produce the cult Trapeze bag, and has also previously worked for Bally and Louis Vuitton in accessories. For the last few seasons Celine has dominated the IT-Bag market, and that’s all down to Johnny’s creative direction. So merge that with Mulberry’s cool Brit status and heritage fabrics and skills and we predict seriously great things.

Accessories Accessories have played a heavily influential role in the Celine aesthetic for many seasons. From the non-branded cult-like bags and the over-sized geometric jewellery, to the single earring which kick-started AW14’s biggest jewellery trend, Johnny has been responsible for it all. His expertise clearly lies with accessories which heavily hints that Mulberry may be shifting its focus onto accessories more than clothing.

Clothing As yet, Johnny hasn’t actually designed a womenswear clothing collection. His first step into the fashion world was designing and drawing windows for the Louis Vuitton boutiques. Inevitably these windows had bags within them which helped Johnny realise his passion. So he drew some designs, showed them to Louis Vuitton and landed his first job. Then there were Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and other dream employers. Should we be worried that he hasn’t designed any womenswear? Not at all. Hedi Slimane, Saint Laurent’s head designer hadn’t worked with womenswear before taking the helm of the fashion powerhouse and is now credited with transforming the brand and its worldwide record-breaking sales.

David Beckham’s party at Mark’s Club in London’s Mayfair was the hottest ticket in town last night, and as you can expect, it attracted a bevy of A-list stars. Among them were Liv Tyler and new beau Dave Gardner, party girl Mary Charteris, in-demand designer Christopher Kane - and of course Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss.

Alexa Chung Swapping her trademark tousled ‘do in favour of two sleek, super-tight plaits, Alexa joined the ever-growing club of A-list fans who are making plaits as the evening hair du-jour. But that wasn’t the only take-away tip from Alexa’s stand-out look. Breaking away from her tried and tested dress and chunky boots combo and completely turning it on its head, Alexa wore an off-beat embroidered Vikshenko ‘Estella’ shirt with the two bottom button undone for that elusive cool-girl charm. And then there’s the culottes-style cropped trousers showing off just the right amount of skin. Certainly unique and totally off-beat, but we love.

Kate Moss The theme of the evening was ‘Swinging London’ and Kate Moss couldn’t have been more perfect for it. The queen of heels who even has a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos named in her honor made a surprising twist and arrived in flats. Patent Mary-Janes to be exact. Clearly taking her inspiration from the Saint Laurent catwalks, where mini dresses were teamed with glittery Mary-Janes and thick opaque tights, Kate of course gave the 60s trend her own spin with a sheer navy high-neck dress and added fishnet tights for a splash of that signature sassy Mossy vibe.

Victoria Beckham Following her fashion trip up-north, where she wowed in a monochrome maxi skirt and ribbed jumper, Victoria proved herself to be part of the capital’s fashion elite with an appearance at one of the most in demands parties of the week. Wearing ripped skinny jeans and a high-neck silk white shirt, the A-list designer draped a sleek mannish wool long coat over her lithe shoulders. Understated and androgynous we love. Just as much as we love that gold hardware clutch.

Rihanna If ever there were a collection made for Rihanna, Tom Ford SS15 is it. Far from demure, this is full-throttle glamour. And while we non-celebs may find it a little difficult to wear this away from the red carpet, we just love how much of an impact it makes when on it.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley With the catwalks referencing the 70s, it comes as no surprise that high waisted trousers are the shape of SS15. Team with killer heels and a bra top for chic eveningwear a la Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her Balmain get-up.

We asked FROW regular Alexa Chung just how she manages to survive London Fashion Week with her sanity in tact.

Alexa Chung is a London Fashion Week veteran. Having sat FROW at countless shows in New York, the model-presenter-turned-designer-turned-muse has been gracing the show spaces in our fair capital with her presence over the last few days.

We've seen her rocking 60s-inspired pigtail plaits at Topshop Unique, giggling with Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof at Erdem and stealing the show at Stella McCartney's Green Collection presentation. We managed to grab her for a quick chat on the front row at Emilia Wickstead and asked the all-important question: how the hell does one survive the madness of fashion week?

'Every season your brain melts a little more,' she told us. 'But, fashion's quite fun, so it's not too arduous, is it?' We couldn't agree more. Alexa Chung has been busy doing charity work with Oxfam in Malawi for its gender equality campaign.

Alexa Chung has taken a break from her action-packed schedule of festivals, fashion parties and modelling to make a visit to Malawi to learn more about Oxfam’s Global gender equality campaign.

‘So honoured to be in Malawi with @oxfamgb looking at the great work they do here on gender equality. Have already met so many inspiring people,’ said Alexa on her Instagram page.

She's shared a slew of captivating images which show her spending time with the Malawian community, sharing laughs, customs and even a few dance moves.

But it wasn’t all fun and games for the model, she's in Malawi to learn more about the gender equality women there face every day.

‘I met a midwife yesterday who works in a team of 4 to treat 300 women a day, some of whom perish in childbirth due to lack of equipment or transport, and a wonderful man called Gift who educates women in villages on human rights and gender equality, and another lady who thanks to Gift felt empowered enough to start her own business and build a home for her children,' Alexa shared.

'There have been tales of domestic abuse and children being married off at 14 and all the other fun stuff that comes from not being considered an equal.

'But they are learning and progressing and becoming more liberated and confident. Oxfam is great, people can be great, female empowerment is vital. HASHTAG yougogirl #sorrynotsorry’

The ultimate IT-girl duo allowed their (slightly tipsy) girl talk to be filmed by The Edit, including a brilliant game of Would You Rather, with one killer question; “Would you rather be Cara Delevingne or Kate Moss?”

“Well I do wanna go out with Johnny Depp…” Alexa quips back. “But ok, put me in a onesie, I’m Cara!”

To accompany the film, Poppy also wrote a beautiful ode to her best friend and confirmed that all of our favourite Brit models really are one big girl gang. “There’s a perception outside of fashion that it’s all fake, but I would count a lot of those girls – the Laura Baileys, Harley Viera-Newtons and Leigh Lezarks of the world – as some of my best friends,” she says.

Alexa, however, is her “anarchic” soul mate, and Poppy goes on to share stories of their wild adventures in Vegas (Alexa fell asleep at the craps table) and that time that they drank Shanghai dry on a trip with Louis Vuitton.

The pair originally met in the waiting room at Storm Models HQ 10 years ago (with the agency's other signings including Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford, imagine who else you could bump into in there). But the pair reached best-mate status after an impromptu moonlit skinny-dipping session in the sea at Cannes a few years ago.

"It was spectacular," says Poppy. "At 4am, rummaging through bushes for our stray couture, I realised it wasn't just another friendship."

Princess Beatrice Bea does her bit for the British couture industry by stepping out in this gorgeous Nicholas Oakwell dress. On point colour pop accessories stop the look from tipping into bridal territory. And not a lobster claw/ toilet seat fascinator in sight.

Here’s a sneak peek at her AG Jeans moodboards, plus we chart our top 10 Alexa denim moments

Alexa Chung’s dream of becoming a designer is finally coming true, as AG Jeans are tapping her talents for an exclusive new denim line.

Let’s face it, no one does denim like Chung (the ‘mom’ dungarees, the perfect skinnies… we seriously struggled to narrow down our favourite looks in the gallery above) and we expect to see plenty of the model and writer’s signature styling tricks thrown into the range.

"The collection is inherently the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late Sixties, early Seventies aesthetic," Alexa says.

The 20 piece capsule collection will include jackets, shirts, dresses, dungarees and jeans in “palest pink, cream, rusty red [and] washed army green” as well as classic blue hues. Her annotated sketches hint to some of the key styles, like ‘Vivienne punk jeans,’ ‘perfect perfect HotPants’ and ‘groupie shorts’. Jane Birkin, Elvis and The Sex Pistols feature on her mood boards and she even trawled LA vintage shops with creative director Sam Ku in a day of extra inspo-gathering.

"Our goal was to partner with someone who has a unique view on fashion and paves her own path in order to bring a fresh take on denim,” said Sam Ku. “After countless back and forth internal discussions, we trusted our instincts and chose to pursue a collaboration with Alexa Chung. As a modern day fashion icon, Alexa is a muse to some of the most incredible fashion designers in the world, yet remains real and accessible to the everyday woman looking to her as a fashion influence and inspiration."

Alexa has been secretly flying out to the company’s California HQ for months to work on her designs. “I visited their [AG] offices in LA and was delighted to discover it was also the site of their factory," she said. "I liked that it is a family business and that they are experts on denim technology. I found the trip incredibly inspiring and an opportunity to learn about denim and make things I had been dreaming about finding."

Alexa's collection will be available in January 2015 and prices will range from $70-$300. Say hello to next year's festival denim then.

It’s the 20th anniversary of Longchamp’s signature Le Pliage bag and to celebrate, they’ve re-enlisted Alexa Chung for a second season to star in their AW14 ad campaign - this time with a seriously cute pup in tow.

The French megabrand sells 10 Le Pliage bags every minute worldwide, totaling an incredible 30 million since they were first designed by Philippe Cassegrain, son of Longchamp founder and CEO Jean Cassegrain, in 1993.

Tracey Emin, Jeremy Scott and Mary Katrantzou have each put their stamp on it, while past campaign faces have included Kate Moss.

The birthday events will continue well into the new season as Alexa will star in an Alice In Wonderland-themed short film called “Longchamp Heritage With a Twist.”

The news comes as the Cassegrain family announced incredible trading figures and a prediction that sales growth will double this year. Now that’s something to celebrate.

Alexa Chung has been revealed as the new face of Nails Inc. Not only that, but she's collaborated with the brand on a range of new polishes, too.

We popped down to meet Alexa herself at the launch of the range last night, where she told us why she's so happy about this latest beauty project. 'I don't like my clothes to be too fussy, but my nails are a whole new ball game and I can get creative,' she said.

'Nails should be an extension of fashion rather than an extension of beauty,' explained Nails Inc founder Thea Green when quizzed about the latest collection.

Alexa's six-colour AW14 collection is said to be 'fabric-inspired' (with names like 'Alexa Cashmere', 'Alexa Lace' and 'Alexa Sequin') and will be launched in August.

Styling up the brand's bold prints at the collection's official launch party last night, the gorgeous duo had their way with the designer duo's affordable collaboration.

As if Jourdan Dunn's sassy dance moves weren't enough to whet our appetite for the hotly anticipated collection, seeing Alexa and Diane sporting the new pieces has left us gagging to get a hold of them.

Rita Ora looked to be having a rather lovely time in LA yesterday, teaming up with Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof after her stint on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie set.

Hot-footing it from Vancouver, where she's been taking on the role of Christian Grey's sister, Mia Grey, Rita joined her London pals in the sunshine city for a well-deserved spot of shopping.

For what was just another average day in the lives of the young and fabulous, the threesome shook off their post-party heads for a spot of retail therapy.

And judging by Rita Ora's earlier tweet, the girls may have been suffering from a big night out: 'Pretty angels. Thinking about what happened last night. What did happen last night? #LA @chungalexa @pixiegeldof yummmmmyyyyy!!'

Embracing the balmy weather, Rita flashed her abs in a slogan two-piece, while Alexa Chung reworked her coveted Brit-girl style for the heat. Tartan prints, velvet sleeves and a cute-as-heck collar quickly resulted in another must-have look from the 30-year-old fashion icon.

Meanwhile, Pixie Geldof played it cool in black skinny jeans and a classic breton stripes, striding happily alongside her flesh-flashing BFFs.

The model-turned-TV presenter has revealed she plans to start work on her first ever fashion collection in the new year

Alexa Chung is already busy making plans for 2014 – and they include her debut fashion collection. That's right, one of Britain's most stylish exports is turning her hand to creating a line, she's revealed in a brand new interview.

It's been a hectic year for the star, who presented for Fuse News in the US every day, yet still found the time to pen her first book, a gorgeous scrapbook of notes, drawings, candid pictures and anecdotes, entitled It. 

Talking to Fashionista.com this week at the launch of her new beauty range with Eyeko at Sephora in New York, she opened up about her plans for the line, saying: 'I was at Fuse News for a year and a half and I’m leaving there on Thursday. That’s going to be the first opportunity where I haven’t had a nine-to-five job — so I’ve kind of been doing Eyeko, I wrote a book, I did Fuse every day, and various other design gigs and DJing.

'So this will be the first time to actually sort of sit down and think about it. So… no. (laughs) I’m going to get it off the ground hopefully in 2014.'

But those hoping for a feline theme will be disappointed, as Alexa also confirmed that she feels that the fashion cat has had its time.

She added: 'Hmm… I feel like Miu Miu’s done it, Tabitha Simmons has done it, Charlotte Olympia… Maybe it’s time to give cats a rest.'

Alexa also had her say on the trend that we're all hoping won't last into 2014 – Miley Cyrus' high-cut leotards. She said: 'It’s like a will it/won’t it situation, I’m on the edge of my seat every time I watch her spread her legs! I’m like ‘Ooh! Ooh!’ It’s too much for my anxiety.'

We couldn't agree more, Alexa. Let's hope her fashion line is more Chanel than Cyrus…

Nick Grimshaw becomes an influencial name in British fashion, officially, as he follows in Alexa Chung's stylish footsteps. Here's why...

Congratulations are in order for Nick Grimshaw, as he bags an influential role with the British Fashion Council.

Following in the footsteps of his BFF, Alexa Chung, the Radio 1 DJ has been named as the new Menswear Ambassador for London Collections: Men.

While Alexa continues to be the BFC Young Style Ambassador for the British Fashion Council, Nick will join David Gandy, Dermot O’Leary and Tinie Tempah on the respected board.

Known for rolling with the fashion pack on and off the front row, the congratulations will flooding Nick’s way from pals Kate Moss, Fearne Cotton, Pixie Geldof, Henry Holland, Rita Ora and Kelly Osbourne.

Talking about the appointment, Dylan Jones, Chair of London Collections: Men, said, ‘We are thrilled that Nick Grimshaw has become an ambassador for London Collections: Men, as his innate style, his enormous influence, and his enthusiasm for British fashion makes him a perfect choice.

Other new names to join the Menswear Committee this season are Alannah Weston, Creative Director at Selfridges; Alexander Fury, Fashion Editor at the Independent; Catherine Hayward, Fashion Director at Esquire, Gillian de Bono, Editor of the FT’s How to Spend It and model Robert Konjic.

Harry Styles may have his eye on a spot next to Nick, as the pair are often spotted together at style events.

Alexa Chung takes us behind the scenes on her sun-soaked retro shoot for Longchamp's Spring ad campaign

Alexa Chung is the latest classic British beauty to front Longchamp's Spring 2014 ad campaign, and the 30-year-old model's stunning sun-soaked St Tropez shoot certainly doesn't disappoint.

The French leather goods firm tapped the world-famous style icon to star in its upcoming campaign to mark the 20th anniversary of its best-selling Le Pliage bag.

And what better way to mark a fashion milestone than to jet off to an oh-so-glamorous French seaside resort, hop in a vintage Fiat convertible and lap up the incredible scenery - all while impeccably accessorised, of course.

Alexa's chic Longchamp shoot, captured by Max Vadukul and styled by Alexis Roche, show the striking British beauty in a series of enchanting poses as she models the label's latest leather wares.

In the main campaign image, Alexa is seen behind the wheel of her powder blue retro ride, hair loosely tousled in the breeze and hand clamped firmly on her stylish passenger - a bright yellow Le Pliage tote.

In another shot, we get a full-length look at Alexa's vibrant get-up.

Longchamp's model-of-the-moment is captured striding the French cobbles in a colourful oversized white parrot print t-shirt dress and chic red pumps as she gleefully swings her fierce yellow arm candy over one arm. Love.

The stylish brunette also shows exactly how to make Lonchamp's colour pop leather wares sing - by teaming with a classic white playsuit and adorning with a luxe silk print scarf. Effortless.

The full print campaign will be unveiled in February, with a short accompanying film shot by Jean-François Julien to make its debut during New York Fashion Week 2014.

Alexa Chung's new Eyeko make-up range is nearly here - and to celebrate the collection's global launch this Thursday, Alexa has given us an exclusive interview and a sneak peek at the sketch book where it all began...

The 30-year-old British style icon, whose must-have make-up set will be on available online exclusively at Eyeko.com from Nov. 14, has allowed us a never-been-seen-before glance at her very private design process.

Capturing Alexa's creative thought process from rough doodle to shelf-ready beauty buy, the whimsical sketches show the inspiration behind her 60s-inspired Eye Do eyeliner and mascara set.

'My approach to Eyeko in terms of inspiration was to look at iconic beauties of eras goneby and study their approach to make up', the model-turned-designer told us.

'This involved a lot of staring at pictures of Bardot and Twiggy and Sophia Loren. Also images of cats, imagery in general from the sixties and then that pointed me in the direction of London being the epicenter of cool in the swinging sixties.'

'The London Underground, buses, mods, all of it', Alexa continued. 'The colour blue was a reference to Picasso and the stars were literally because I was thinking of night time looks.'

'I worked with Alia Penner who is one of my favorite artists and she really pieced everything together. Her own paintings and art work are also incredibly inspiring, colorful, young, fun and extremely imaginative. I wanted to create an Eyeko world.'

For her first foray into the make-up realm, we think she's done an amazing job.

Alexa will be launching Alexa For Eyeko at Selfridges this Thursday at 7pm, so come on down to the party and join us in congratulating the talented lady herself.

The British style icon saw in her thirties in style with a celebrity-studded birthday bash in London

Alexa Chung waved goodbye to her twenties in style when she hosted a private birthday party at London's Edition Hotel featuring one seriously starry guest list.

Harry Styles, Kelly Osbourne, Daisy Lowe, Florence Welsh and Nick Grimshaw were among Alexa's throng of party-goers at her intimate Central London soirée, which took place on Saturday night.

While Daisy and Kelly both opted for elegant black dresses for the model-turned-author's special celebrations, Florence kept her vintage-inspired edge by donning a baby blue silk ruffle gown and thigh-high black boots. Love.

Harry, who was spotted carrying a yellow Selfridges bag into the venue presumably containing his gift for the birthday girl, kept it casual in an orange and white striped shirt worn undone to reveal a plain white t-shirt.

Grimmy, meanwhile, arrived armed with a shopper full of Hermes goodies for his model BFF, sporting a similarly casual ensemble of a red and black lumberjack shirt worn over a striped breton tee.

Once inside, the party troop got busy taking Instagram photos of their alcohol-fuelled antics after enjoying a gastronomic feast prepared by Michelin starred chef, Jason Atherton.

Brit girl model Alexa had flown into London straight from her New York abode specially for the occasion, which saw her reunited with her long lost Primrose Hill clan for the first time in months. Many happy returns, Alexa!

We love seeing London's coolest circle of friends back together again at long last.
