This is why Prince William will never make a present for the Queen

By now we're all well aware that Prince William isn't your average royal. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have ripped up the royal rule book on multiple occasions, and when it comes to family life they have been vocal about giving Prince George and Princess Charlotte as normal a childhood as possible. Kate even uses parenting forum Mumsnet when she needs a bit of guidance, and they have vowed to do the school run themselves when George starts school later this year.

William himself is very close with his grandma, the Queen, and even had a very unusual nickname for her growing up. However, when it comes to getting the royal birthday presents it seems he's just as stumped as we would be buying a gift for a woman who has - well, everything.

During an interview with Scott Mills on Radio One, the presenter asked him: 'When it's the Queen's 91st birthday, do you still get her a present?'

Smiling, William admitted: 'It's quite hard to know what to get the Queen for her 91st birthday that she hasn't already got!'

When Kate reminded her husband that he's 'very good at making things' with a smile, he replied: 'We've tried making a few things. Now that the great grandchildren are around they can make stuff and that usually goes down really well, it doesn't matter what it looks like it always goes down really well, so we stick to those sorts of presents.

'George does [arts and crafts], he's very good at it.'

Kate was quick on the mark, joking that William was taking credit for their eldest son's creative skills and hinting that the Duke of Cambridge doesn't actually make anything for the Queen himself.

Don't worry, William, we'd probably do the same...
