Whilst you may recognise Elisabeth Moss, who plays Peggy Olsen, from her role in The West Wing as the President's daughter, this actress has an impressive selection of film credits to her belt. As well as starring opposite Angelina Jolie in Girl Interrupted, Moss has also appeared in The Missing with Cate Blanchett, Earthly Possessions with Susan Sarandon, and A Thousand Acres opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Michelle Williams. Having recently finished four films, she's sure to be a face you'll get used to seeing on the big, and small, screen.

Christina Hendricks is no stranger to successful TV shows; the 33-year-old curvacious star appeared in ER, Without a Trace, Angel and Kevin Hill before taking her place as Joan Hollaway on Mad Men.

Although she looks like butter wouldn't melt, Elisabeth Moss's character, Peggy Olsen has had her fair share of steamy story lines in Mad Men. Most notably, the junior copywriter enjoyed a night of passion with her co-worker, Pete Campbell, just before his wedding. The affair continued even after he got married and Peggy gave birth to a baby boy - at the end of the first series - unbeknownst to Pete.

John Slattery has played big parts in both major films, and drama series. Whilst most of you may quickly recognise him from Desperate Housewives, there's much more to this man than playing Gabrielle's husband. To name a few, Slattery has been in Charlie Wilson's War, Mona Lisa Smile, Traffic, The Station Agent and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. He's also made guest appearances on Sex and the City and Will and Grace. Slattery's wife is actress Talia Balsam, who, by the way, was once married to George Clooney! Phew, we're impressed...

Although you may instantly link January Jones to American Pie: The Wedding, there is far more substance to this actress than that film would lead you to believe. The 31-year-old has also starred in We Are Marshall, Love Actually, Anger Management and appeared with her Mad Men co-star, John Flattery, in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Trivia: Jones dated Ashton Kutcher from 1998 to 2001 and made it onto Maxim's Hot Women of 2002.

January Jones' character, Betty 'Birdie' Draper, is married to Don Draper, the creative director of Sterling Cooper. A one-time model, Mrs Draper is a frustrated stay-at-home mother of two children, who spends her days baking cakes and drinking, while her philandering husband sleeps his way around the city.

Throughout all the series, Betty Draper has had a wardrobe full of style and feminine fashion that we loved - so we have high hopes for her new-season wardrobe, too. Always pristine and glamorous on the outside, Betty's marital woes and attention from men result in some great story lines.

Although Maggie Siff, who plays Rachel Menken, is known for her stage work, she recently appeared in Michael Clayton with George Clooney. Her character is the head of a department store and has an affair with Don Draper. Jon Hamm won a Best Actor Golden Globe for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men. About his character, Hamm has said that Draper 'has a marriage he's not that involved in, kids he's not that involved in, a brother he wasn't involved with at all. He tries to make amends a day late and a dollar short. That's his great tragedy'.

On the surface, Betty Draper is the perfect model of a 1950s homemaker, staying at home with the children and keeping house. But January Jones, the actress that plays her, says that Betty is 'lost... She's supposed to be this perfect Grace Kelly wife of a businessman, and it's just not going the way she imagined'. Either way, Mrs Draper is our fashion favourite of the series.

Joan Holloway is an office manager at Sterling Cooper and had a long-term affair with Roger Sterling. Joan recognises that she lives in a male-dominated world, but is still driven to succeed in her career. With her curvaceous figure, red hair and sexy wardrobe, she's hard to miss.

Mad Men has been praised for its historical authenticity and style, and has an impressive trophy cabinet to prove it, having won three Golden Globes and six Emmys.
