The key autumn/winter nail trend is easy to wear and versatile. You will love it.
Autumn sees an Aladdin’s Cave of rich and regal nail colour make its way to the fashion forefront. Opt for metallic nail shades in ruby red, emerald green and striking amethyst to feel like a million dollars this season. Helena Biggs, deputy editor at Scratch magazine, talks you through this gorgeous trend.
The Shows: D&G’s autumn/winter 2013 collection saw models hit the catwalks of Milan in gem-encrusted dresses and golden crowns, while DSquared2 opted for rich, ruby red nails as a contrast amongst dark, textured fabrics – with plenty of jewels to accessorize.

The Shades: Jessica’s autumn/winter collection, A Night At The Opera, hits the nail on the head when it comes to jewel tones. Our faves include the metallic plum Opening Night and the emerald Standing Ovation, available for £9.75 each. We also love the deep tones of Intuition from Seche and Morgan Taylor’s Well Spent, both from Louella Bella. Oh, and Zoya’s entire Satins collection has too many shades to choose from this season.

The Shape: Jewel tones ooze elegance, so it’s only fitting that a long, feminine almond shape shows off these shades. If you fancy rocking an edgier look, shape the tip of your nail to a point.
The Style: We are heading into party season, so get in the zone and add a touch of sparkle or texture to nails. Ciaté’s Emerald Collection comes with a gorgeous green polish, a pot of sequins, some caviar pearls and velvet – everything you need to experiment with this luxurious look.
