We can’t get enough of superhero films, at least Hollywood seems to think so. The industry is churning out impressive comic book adaptations at a remarkable rate.

2016 looks set to be an action-packed year on-screen, boasting bound-to-be-blockbusters featuring compelling underdogs, vigilantes, reclusive geniuses, anti-heroes, genetically engineered humans and villains we love to hate.

X-Men: Apocalypse

The plot in a nutshell: Apocalypse is a mutant, the first and most powerful in the X-Men universe who has sponged the powers of many other mutants in order to become immortal and indistructable. And guess what? This terrifying mutant has just woken up after a nap (that lasted many thousands of years) and he’s not happy. Apocalypse is determined to recruit a team of fellow mutants to create a new world order. A disillusioned Magneto (Michael Fassebender), included.
